#Malleus birthday takeover

Malleus, Deuce: Like Mother, Like Son
BRO'S STILL MAKING THE "ARE YOU LOST BBY GHORL" FACE … Malleus’s birthday hits different knowing what I know now 💀 ALSO THE FACT THAT DEUCE SAID "THAT" ABOUT MALEFICENT VS THE HUMANS IS... (trying to keep this wording vague so as to not spoil people who haven’t gotten there yet)
It’s nice to see Malleus and Deuce in the vignettes, I feel like they don’t get to interact that much (which is a shame because I think their dynamic is cute). They had a chapter together in the manga anthology too! I’m glad they could hang out some more.
A Tale as Old as Time.
Tumblr media
The princess and her prince were picture perfect in the painting.
The woman, with golden curls that tumbled down her back. Her cerulean gown spilled to the polished floors like a fabric waterfall, the tiara in her hair catching the soft evening light. She gazed up at her lover's warm, twinkling eyes, and smiled.
The man, brunette, locks falling loosely across his forehead. He was handsome in a red tunic with a high black collar, a crimson cape billowing out behind him with each step he took. His gaze was locked with the princess's, his one and only.
Onlookers gathered in a ring around the two, spellbound by how they danced, bodies twinning like threads bound together. It was something precious they dared not disturb, even their breaths clutched like pearls to prevent their escape.
This was happily ever after, a dream come true.
It should have been.
Yet Malleus frowned. His brows drew together and his mouth pursed, a brewing storm settling over his face.
“Draconia-senpai?” Deuce called to him anxiously. “I-Is something wrong? You look a little scary…”
The first year glanced at the portrait of the royal couple. He jumped. “D-Don’t tell me, did this painting piss you off?! Er, I mean... Did it offend you?"
“No, nothing of the sort,” Malleus replied. He rested an index finger against his chin. “It sparked memories of my own days in court. As the crown prince to the Briar Valley, it goes without saying that I've attended a number of occasions similar to what is depicted here."
"Oh, for real? That makes sense, you being royalty and all. What were those events like?"
"Most are rather solemn affairs. Grandmother, the senators, and other politicians gather to discuss diplomacy, trade, and national policies. For certain occasions, there are traditional rituals that must first be performed. A royal birth, for example, must be blessed before the festivities can commence. If it is a knighting, then all the royal guard shall be present and a speech of one's accomplishments read."
Deuce blinked a few times, as though shedding sleepiness. His mind struggled to grasp the enormity of a prince's duties. He dropped the smartest sounding response he could: "That sounds tough."
Malleus lips slightly lifted. "I do not mind it. There is pride to be had in conducting such work."
I don't have a reason to doubt what he's saying, but... Deuce clenched his fists at his sides. If Draconia-senpai really feels that way, why does he still seem so pained?
The fairy drew out a sigh, as if dissatisfied with the silence. "... Ah, but how strange. When I look upon this painting, I see many people present... yet the princess touched by diurnal fae and her prince take no notice of them. They have eyes only for each other."
His words were velvet-lined, soft on the ears. Beneath them, a pang of longing rose like a fine mist at daybreak.
"What must it feel like to be so beloved?" Malleus wondered. "To have someone who considers you the most special being in all the world?"
Vines twisted in his gut, thorns prickling his insides. Frustration and molten discontent pooled. For all the power that he wielded, he failed to attain such a basic thing.
Love.
"Do you understand such a feeling, Spade?" The inquiry was pure acid.
"H-Huh, me?!" Deuce startled, not prepared for the demand in Malleus's voice. "Well... uh, I guess my mom calls me her big, strong man. Does that count?"
Malleus's brow furrowed. "I'm afraid I don't follow. Is it customary for children of man to refer to their offspring as 'big, strong men'?"
"I think that's just my mom's thing." He shrugged. "I'm the only man in the house, so I try to help her out if I can. She jokes about it when I do."
Malleus made a face. It was difficult to discern the emotion he wore.
"Moms, right?" Deuce gave a nervous laugh. "They can be embarrassing, but they care about us a lot."
"I never knew my mother."
"... Oh." A rock dropped in Deuce's stomach. He hurried for an apology as dread rippled through him. "Shit, my bad! I didn't mean to..."
Malleus held up a hand in an elegant dismissal. "Be at ease. I harbor no anger."
There was no point, he told himself, in rage expressed for a woman he had no bond with. Her face, her voice--they were all a mystery to him. She was but a stranger adrift in an abyss.
Still, a part of him sparked at the thought of her, of someone he had yet to meet--would never meet. The thrill of fates closely intertwined, the tenderness of a parent's love.
Malleus went quiet, lowering his hand.
"Grandmother and Lilia have done their utmost to mentor me in her stead." He sounded hollow, insistent. Like he was trying to convince himself as much as he was Deuce.
The Heartslabyul student swallowed. He placed a firm hand on Malleus's arm and squeezed. "... It's not enough, is it?"
He received no answer.
“Your mom is thinking of you, wherever she is.”
Malleus pulled away, presenting his back to Deuce. "Dead fae do not tell tales," he said simply.
“That doesn’t mean she loved you any less,” Deuce stubbornly protested. “Right up until her last breath… she must have been so happy to have you, thinking about what kind of person you’d grow up to be.”
Dreaming of the day when she can, at last, meet you.
Blink, and his eyes were wet. Blink again, and his vision blurred. Heartbeat hot and quick, galloping upon coals.
Did my mother truly…?
“She’d be damn proud of you too.” Deuce flashed a wicked grin. “Believe me.”
“… Hah.” Malleus chuckled dryly.
The longer he considered it, the more appealing the idea became.
A woman in his likeness—or was he made in hers? Papery kisses, fond embraces, words of affirmation. Fire that burned strongly, warding off the darkness.
Wouldn’t that be something?
"I love you, Malleus," whispered that she-phantom. Sweet nothings that sated his starved soul. "Forever and always. My dear son, my pride and joy."
The carefully constructed stone fortress around his heart faltered. His desire burned like a falling star.
He took a breath, and fell from the heavens with his wish.
“Thank you, Spade.”
Just for this moment, let me walk once upon a dream.
A single tear slipped down Malleus’s cheek.
And what a wonderful dream it was.

All: “We love you, more than anything.”
—————
I made this comic really fast, between everything going on from worrying about my family in the states getting home before the borders close to school issues, it was hard to get this done. But, I worked really hard on it so I hope you guys like my self-indulgent little comic.
So, yes, the secret f/os are from Twisted Wonderland. As a big Kuroshitsuji fan, when Yana Toboso announced it I was all over it immidately. I’ve been following the game’s development since the announcement and I’m honestly so, so excited now that it’s out- especially on my birthday! It feels like a special gift in these crazy times, which I’m so thankful to have and seriously can’t wait to play.
I just used one insert here, although all the romantic f/os use a different one (who is in their dorm, or part of the staff for Divus and Dire.) The code is as follows;
-Beauty was Vil
-Fae was Malleus (who’s new tag is ‘romantic; once upon a dream’)
-Leo was Leona (I meant it when I said this one was a stupid codename lmao)
-Alchemist was Divus
-Crow was Dire
-Historian (my familial f/o!!! Best dad ♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎) was Mozus
and the unannounced familial f/o was Lilia, who’s an older brother f/o.
I’m going to make the takeover announcement post now with some reminders, but thank you all for reading. I’m happy to share today with my amazing friends and lovely f/os on here, and I hope we all have an awesome day.
Happy March 18th!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Malleus, Ace: Not a Star in Heaven
I find it interesting that Malleus said he walks by Ramshackle less often these days. (I guess he wants to be respectful of the new residents?? Or maybe he doesn’t like the noise) 🤔
It's also nice to see Malleus finally acknowledge that he has various people he can speak with and that don't fear him (like Adeuce); I've always found it kind of odd that the main story puts such emphasis on how people don't approach or engage with Malleus when we clearly see him interact with others (not limited to, but including: Cater, Rook, and most other dorm leaders) in respectful, but not always totally amicable, ways in vignettes and some events.
… The Groovy reminds me of the time a friend took a sample of Malleus’s skin color from one of his card artworks 😂 and we were both shocked at how close he was to being the hex code #FFFFFF (aka white as heck). Yes I’m making another High School Musical pun 🌟
A Boy in Bloom, and his Flowering Future.

"What do you do on your days off?"
"It is nothing particularly of note. When I am able to find the time, I am drawn to playing the violin or settling in with a good book."
The delivery of his words came with perfect grace and perfect poise. Elegance befitting royalty, and he who represented the spirit of the noble Thorn Fairy.
Malleus Draconia brushed off an invisible fleck of dust from his dark robes. The stars woven into them with golden thread glimmered from the movement. "Ah, yes. I do also enjoy the occasional stroll, wandering wherever my whims may take me."
"Wow, classy. I guess I shouldn't have expected anything less from a hotshot like you, Malleus-senpai!" Wearing a cheeky grin, Ace leaned forward. "Sooo, what kinda places do you hang around at? I heard from the Prefect that you just pulled up on their front lawn in the middle of the night."
"You've heard." The corners of Malleus's mouth curled upward, bemused. "Alas, Ramshackle has become more lively as of late. It would be rude of me to intrude on the new tenants as I have in the past. These days, I am more likely to see myself to the town, seeking antiques or archaic texts."
"Lemme guess, Sebek threw a fit about the route change?" Ace snickered like an elementary schooler. "I bet he did. Dude always does whenever you're faced with some mild inconvenience."
Straightening and puffing out his chest, the first year adopted a gruff, rumbling voice and an intense glare—a mocking imitation of Sebek. "Why, the NERVE of that human to not grovel and kiss your boots and beg for forgiveness for bumping into you in the hallway, Young Master!! Dishonor on them, dishonor on their family, DISHONOR ON THEIR COW!!"
Malleus stared at him.
"... Too much?" Ace asked weakly.
"My attendants do not accompany me on my walks," Malleus clarified, cooly dispelling the awkwardness. "They are strictly solitary happenings."
"Huh, so not even Silver-senpai or Lilia-senpai joins you?"
"Unless you mean to say that the definition of 'solitary' has changed in the last millennia, yes."
"And Sebek just... lets it happen?"
"Rather than 'letting it happen', it would be more accurate to say that I have already departed long before anyone has realized." Mischief shone in his emerald-set eyes.
Ace's jaw slackened. "No way. You seriously just screw off like that? Sounds like something I'd do, not something a fancy schmancy prince! Don’t you get an earful about it when you get back?”
"Hoh? It seems you speak from personal experience, Trappola,” Malleus smirked, “seeing as Rosehearts oft goes about punishing you for your rebellion.”
“Urk!! You, uh… kinda got me there.”
“Not to worry. I shall be discreet—just as you will be discreet about my walks, correct?” There was a quiet yet dangerous insistence laced in his voice, compelling Ace to gulp and nod, complying.
“You don’t like hanging out with other people or something?”
“I am accustomed to being on my own. This is no different than the norm.”
“Well, I don’t know how it was for you before, but it sounds like you’re going out of your way to be alone now." Ace shrugged. "Isn't that just making things worse for you? It's not like you're making an effort to reach out to others or to communicate with them. You won't make any friends like that."
His bluntness—and the audacity of it—struck Malleus like lighting to his heart. The truth, cold and hard and pointed.
"Friends, you say..." He let the word linger in the space between them. Pride and hurt—and perhaps hurt pride—swirling. “Hmph. How brazen of you to make such accusations to my face. You know not how to hold your tongue—nor do you know true fear.”
The air crackled, suddenly thick and heavy with tension. The bright, sunny day stilled.
“Hah?! A-Are you gonna strike me down?!“ Ace took a hasty step back and braced himself. Holy crap, this is 100 times worse than getting collared!!
“… It was a joke.”
“It was?!”
“Of course.” Malleus chuckled, offering a small, if not smug, smile. “I am not opposed to being approached by those unafraid to speak their minds. That is what separates Night Raven College from the rest. It is a place full of interesting individuals.
“Yourself, Spade, the Prefect—there is no shortage of those who are willing to challenge me.”
“And that’s… a good thing?” Ace blinked, bewildered. Riddle-ryocho’s on my ass all the time, so I didn’t think I’d get praised for acting out…
Malleus nodded solemnly. “These are experiences I could never have were I to continue my studies exclusively in Briar Valley. It it because of my training at Night Raven College that I can broaden my horizons.”
“Eh, but you’ll still have powers us plebs can never hope to know.”
The birthday boy laid a hand on the main building behind them. Tall, grand, and imposing—it was everything he was, built of magic and marvels.
What would remain once time and weather had eroded it away to ancient ruins? Only the memories he had made while he was there.
“… There are some wishes that magic alone cannot grant,” Malleus said, mystery drenching bis every syllable. “I can fly as far as I like. There is not a star in heaven I cannot reach. Still…”
I never feel fulfilled.
His eyes fluttered shut, contemplative.
He had been in that grassy field, Lilia at his side, and surrounded by teary reunions. Classmates and friends, dorm leaders and vices and their members. Trading hugs and relieved words.
Lilia had turned to him then, face shining like the full moon.
“Human lives are as thin and as fragile as the threads on a spindle. But through their companionship, they are able to weave together to create something far stronger. Such friendships are able to transcend their short lifespans.
“Malleus, we are able to share the world with these wonderful people. Isn’t that magical?”
That is why we must treasure the here and now, before that time slips away from us.
He returned his gaze to his underclassman. “Trappola.”
Ace jumped. “Y-Yeah? What is it?”
“Consider yourself fortunate.” Malleus smiled with his teeth. “For you are an acquaintance of mine.”
“I guess I am…?” Ace tried to return the friendliness, but faltered. “Cool! Wait ‘til I brag to my big bro that I know the Malleus Draconia. He won’t believe it!”
“Fufufu. Perhaps he would be more inclined to believe were I to appear on the doorstep of your household.”
Ace immediately paled. “My whole family’s gonna pass out if you do that!!”
“Acquaintances host other acquaintances at their abodes, no?” His tone was teasing, like fingers raking across bare skin.
“Please tell me that’s another bad joke, Malleus-senpai!! You’re not being serious, right? RIGHT?!”
“I eagerly await your invitation.”
Ace caught the splintered trickery in Malleus’s eyes before the takeoff—one so forceful that it sent him hurtling back. He landed on his bum, mouth hanging open in shock.
“Heeeey! You still didn’t answer my question!!”
FWOOSH!!
Malleus launched into the sky upon his broomstick. Truthfully, he was fine without any magical implements to aid him—but tradition called for the show, flowers and all.
He raised a hand, shielding his eyes against the sun. It was strong today, in spite of it being the middle of a chilling winter season and drifting snow. Light and warmth where there should have been bleakness and cold.
Weather every bit as defiant as the humans around him.
Interesting.
Malleus extended his hand, catching a piece of falling snow in his palm. Sunlight streamed through his fingertips—and it, combined with his body heat, melted the snow into cool water.
It had lived and died in but a few breaths. So many of them around him, snuffed out so soon.
“Malleus, we are able to share the world with these wonderful people. Isn’t that magical?”
Yes, it is.
He closed his fingers and brought them to his chest.
I can fly anywhere I like. I can reach any star in heaven. But I cannot yet understand the hearts of mankind. That… is why I am here at Night Raven College.
To learn of that special enchantment.

Jack, Malleus: Beasts, us Both
Alright, TWST... you friggin' troll 😭 You got me good with those Jack frames... No wolf inspo reveal, I see how it is-- 😂
Because of the angle we're staring at the image from... that macaron Jack is holding looks like a massive GMO green grape… AM I JUST SEEING GRAPES EVERYWHERE BECAUSE OF R*LLO... This would mark the first Disney100 art with some notable changes (how he’s holding the macaron and the angle he’s bending at), most likely to make it look better for a card layout.
A Tale as Old as Time.
Tumblr media
A young lion prince and his hornbill attendant were captured in a photo frame. With finger-like feathers, the bird had plucked a strand of fur from the large cat. He lacked amusement, beak poised in a manner that suggested a light telling-off. The cub, for his part, looked upset at the lecture.
That’s right, lions don’t grow their manes out until they’re older.
Jack sometimes forgot that—with his dorm leader prowling around, the most prominent image he had of a lion was that of Leona. Strong, cunning, and self-assured. Nothing like the prince in the painting.
“How cute,” a low voice drawled. “To think that Kingscholar too was once this small and helpless… Fufufu.”
Jack’s eyes cut to the tall, dark man next to him. With long limbs and regal horns protruding from his head, Malleus Draconia resembled a gazelle.
“It’s hard to imagine Leona-senpai like that,” Jack awkwardly confessed. “I met his nephew once, but that only took me more out of it. He was… energetic and bright.”
“Implying that Kingscholar is lacking in energy and a cheerful disposition?” Malleus smirked. “Ah, yes. Much change occurs between childhood and adulthood, some of it attributed to social influences. That child had best be cautious. Perhaps Kingscholar’s attitude will rub off on him, smothering that sunshine.”
“Leona-senpai has his good points too!” Jack blurted out. He didn’t catch himself in time—the words just came, a reverberating bark in the museum.
“Oh? You’re rather quick to defend him.”
The wolf beastman gasped and reeled himself back in. “Y-You don’t see it because you’re not in Savanaclaw, but I can tell… Leona-senpai cares about his students a lot. He’s looking out for us in his own way.”
“Such as when he attempted to have me trampled?” Malleus suggested, his tone quiet yet challenging. “I do so fondly remember that.”
“Urk!!” Jack’s ears flattened. “He does take it too far sometimes. I don’t agree with everything he does. The idea of doing everything you can to protect others, though… that’s something I can understand.”
"It is?”
The first year nodded firmly. “There are stories about wolves working together to chase off invaders who wandered into their snowy territory. Once, a wolf family even took in an orphaned kid. I have my own younger siblings to look after, too.”
“It appears as though you and your ancestors feel a strong sense of duty to your packs,” Malleus noted. Something akin to amusement danced in his eyes. It quickly flickered out, giving way to a deep melancholy. “Family… Hmm. I cannot say I can relate. I have no siblings to speak of. There is my grandmother, but she is my only living relative."
There was a shift—a small, imperceptible change in Jack's stoic face.
"... Sorry to hear that."
"Think nothing of it." Malleus waved a dismissive hand. "The circumstances are as they are. We cannot rewind the threads of fate, only weave new ones.
"Still, it is strange. I have not had the chance to meet my mother nor my father. They were already gone long before my hatching. I should feel no attachment to such strangers. Even so, I feel as though something is missing without them."
He gave a dark chuckle, curling fingers over his heart. "Perhaps there is a part of me that longs for that kind of a family, too."
Jack frowned. His chest throbbed with a dull pain.
“That's..."
Sad.
No brothers, no sisters. No parents, not even aunts or uncles or cousins. Just one big, empty castle, and the creature caged inside of it.
Pacing past ruined wings, furniture strewn about as if a mad beast had run through it in a frenzy. The space filled with loneliness, a hollow feeling that couldn't be fended off.
He shuffled his feet. Resolve slowly solidified. Jack reached for his voice.
"... I don't think you need to worry, Malleus-senpai. You still have people who care about you. Family isn’t all in the blood." Jack bashfully rubbed at the back of his neck, his eyes averted. "It's in the bonds too."
He gestured to the painting before them. "The lion prince lost his dad, the previous king. In grief, he ran away from home--but he still had friends that guided him when he was lost and scared. A warthog, a meerkat, a baboon, a hornbill, the lionesses in his pride. They all came together to show the prince he was loved and needed. Because of that, he was able to come home with his head held high."
Jack clenched a hand into a fist, offering a stiff smile. "Family's something that everyone has, one way or another. They're the ones who always have your back, blood or not.”
Malleus’s face momentarily lit up with surprise.
“My, I didn’t expect to hear such a motivational speech from you. I hear from Sebek that you’re quite standoffish.”
“D-Don’t get me wrong!!” he sputtered, face heating. “On any given day, I’d tackle things on my own. But doing that all the time is pointless.”
“Which is why you choose to follow Kingscholar’s leadership?” Malleus asked teasingly. “You seem to admire him a great deal and acknowledge him as the leader of your pack here at Night Raven College.”
“N-No!!” Jack snapped. “Th-There are just some things I’m not strong enough to do by myself, times when I have to team up with others for a common goal!! Until the day I have the strength to act completely on my own…!”
Malleus laughed softly, his lips lifting into a mysterious curve. "Be at ease, Howl. You needn’t be so defensive. I see your point with crystal clarity.”
“You… You do?”
“That is correct.” The dragon prince’s eyes creased. “You, who seeks strength, shall surely find it—and with that strength, you will not be daunted from protecting what is most precious to you, family and friends alike. You’ve helped me to realize the same. We are both the same kind of beast, fufu.”
Jack took one look at Malleus’s ominous smile and shuddered. It could have decimated the stars, wiping out all the light in the night sky in one fell swoop.
“I’m not so sure that’s a good thing…”
He glanced back at the painting of the lion prince and the hornbill advisor. The distress on the cub’s face suddenly resonated with him.
Jack groaned.
It looks like I still have a lot to learn.

We come to a close.
I had to get this out several days after his actual birthday 😅 It was hard since I also had to account for Cater’s birthday on the 4th and got busy irl… I also had to skip responding to some interactions or else we’d have like an extra week of 3-4 Rollos per day.
So sorry for that!! 💦 I hope you at least enjoy this brief closing piece before we go back to our regularly scheduled TWST brain rot and ramblings.
Tumblr media
At last.
He had endured.
Barely.
Now the sun was setting, and soon the stars would come out to play. The guests had departed one by one, Noble Bell College students retreating to their own lodging, Night Raven College students returning to their own campus. The student council's chambers were bereft of the souls that had filled and warmed it mere moments ago.
What remained of the celebration were the fun bits and bobs, confetti scattered on the floor and decorations still hung up. There was leftover cake and wrapping yet to be discarded, a pile of opened presents to organize.
An entire mess.
Rollo reflexively reached for a broom and dustpan only for another hand to come down upon his. He looked up into the gentle face of his vice president.
"Let me get that for you."
Rollo frowned. "I am perfectly capable of assisting with cleaning."
His vice gave him a sympathetic smile as he eased the broom and dustpan out of Rollo's grasp. "I've never doubted that for one second, Mister President—but the clock hasn't quite struck midnight yet."
"That's right," the aide chimed in from atop a stepladder. He was busy unpinning a banner that ran across the doorway. "You should head home early for once. We've got this covered."
"I can see that you two remain stubborn about this matter up until the last second," Rollo said tightly. How irksome.
He had hit a brick wall—and his patience was worn down to its last leg. Swallowing his pride, he relented. "... Very well, I will retire for the evening then. However, I expect to see this room spic and span tomorrow morning for our regular activities.”
"You got it, Mister President!"
He briskly made his exit, leaving the student council members to their duties.
His steps were neat and fleet, leaving not a sound nor a scuff in his path. Quiet as a mouse—or rat—skittering under the cover of night.
At this hour, the halls were dark and desolate, save for the pale moonlight through stained glass. When he passed the windows, their colors flickered, sliced by shadow. The corridor spilled into an atrium, empty like the rest of the school—
Rollo’s footsteps came to a halt. He caught himself on a pillar, his breath hitching.
Flowers.
White ones.
They flooded the atrium, covering the floors and snaking up columns, stairways, and bannisters. Curled petals up to his ankles, the color of them pure as fresh snow, untainted by outside forces. They were shaped like trumpets, filaments sticking out in fanfare.
Lilies, white lilies.
And the light trace of magic in the air, the feeling akin to soap bubbles popping on the skin. A tingle, a sampling of something rich and dark and wrong.
Rollo scowled at the field of flowers. He had no doubt in his mind where the flowers had come from.
A voice called out to him.
"What do you think of my parting gift, Flamme?"
"... Malleus Draconia."
At the name, a pair of luminous green eyes appeared in the darkness. The fairy prince, wearing a bemused grin, emerged from his hiding place. He was across the way from Rollo, poised like a marble statue under a silver spotlight.
“Come to get one last jab in before you crawl home?” Rollo demanded with a scowl. His polite pretenses were cast aside—his true face showing. He approached his archnemesis, not caring that he trampled flora underneath his heel. “The white flowers are a touch dramatic.”
“I thought you would like them.”
“What would give you that impression?”
Malleus laughed, clear and resonant in the large room. He casually stroked a lily climbing up to the ceiling. “I mulled over what your gift should be for the longest time. I finally came to the conclusion that the color white suits you best.”
“I prefer red,” Rollo snapped back, “and no flowers at all if they are to come from you.”
“Ah, but is white not the color of a saint? That is what you are in their eyes.” Malleus showed his teeth. His incisors were like knives. “A savior, a blessing... hence the white. Red is for sinners.”
A chill raced down Rollo’s spine.
Sins crawling on his back.
Discomfort and confusion twisted in his gut. The color crimson, a hot imprint in his heart. Rights and wrongs looked so similar viewed under the same red-colored lenses.
He clenched his fists.
“… You are not welcome here. Get out,” Rollo spat. “Get out now. I do not have the time to take heed of your inane ramblings and attempts at deception…!”
He was getting frantic, his volume growing louder and louder. At the height of the crescendo, it suddenly dropped to a sputter.
Blink, and Malleus was gone. Blink, and the space where he once stood was nothing more than twinkling green lights.
Blink…
… and Rollo was alone among the flowers.

Welcome Bienvenue, Rollo.
Tumblr media
{January 30th to February 2nd}
Please read the Birthday Blog Takeover Submission Rules. Yes, I’m reviving this from 2020-2021 just to honor Roro—
Something was amiss.
Of that, Rollo was certain.
The air at Noble Bell College had been strained all day, pulled taut like the tightened strings on a violin. Every so often, those strings would be plucked, sending a wave of tension rippling through the campus and setting his bones shaking. There were whispers passed, quick glimpses made, stifled laughs shared between his aide and vice president.
But the instant he so much as cocked his head in the direction of the guilty parties, they would nervously retreat out of sight. Alas, no chance for a proper chiding--nor to divulge their secret.
What do I care of their matters? Rollo scoffed, dismissing the idea of pursuing them. He made his way down the hallway and to the student council's quarters. So long as it does not interfere with my duties or cause a commotion, there is no reason for me to step in. Leave fools to their foolishness.
Rollo swung the door open and stared into an abyss. The fireplace that normally warmed the space had been extinguished, leaving the room blanketed in darkness.
He sighed, running a hand along the wall. His fingers met the light switch and flipped it, light flooding his field of view.
Students, his aide and vice president among them, sprung out from behind furniture. Gargoyles swooped down from the ceiling. Each grinned and chorused, "SURPRISE!!"
Pop, pop, pop!! Crackling, colorful confetti rained down, settling on Rollo's robes and inside of the large brim of his headwear.
He blinked, dazed as the students descended on him. One offered a party hat, another ferried a platter of petit fours, and several more bore wrapped boxes topped with bows. Excited chatter on all sides, eager eyes in every direction.
"... What is this fanfare?" Rollo demanded warily.
"It's your birthday, Mister President!" his aide beamed. "Don't tell us you forgot."
"It isn't that I forgot," Rollo massaged his temples. His growing frown was difficult to conceal with a single folded square of cloth. "It's that I had plans to tend to some important documents today. This is... an unprecedented turn of events."
"You're always working so hard for Noble Bell College and your peers, putting work before yourself," his vice president said.
"We've never seen you have fun your birthday once in all the time we've known you," a gargoyle added.
The aide nodded. "That's why we decided to throw this special celebration in your honor! Let us handle your duties for the day while you relax with your friends.”
"No, I couldn't possibly allow for you to..." Rollo's voice trailed off as realization set in. "Wait one moment. When you say 'friends', who exactly are you referring to?"
“Oh, we were in correspondence with them to prepare for the party,” explained the vice president. “They should be joining us soon. It’s just a short trip for them through the mirror.”
Through the mirror? His gut wrenched with dread. No, it can’t be…! Not possible!!
“Flamme.”
He turned at the voice calling his name, looking as though he had seen a ghost.
Faintness overcame him, and the handkerchief which he reverently clasped to his face fluttered to the ground. Rollo’s face was a show of open shock. “Y-You…!!”
There, in the doorway, was a gaggle of boys in black uniforms edged with golden trim. A band in various colors and a unique emblem was proudly displayed on every left arm. Seven variants, seven dorms.
At the front of the pack was a horned man dripping in black.
They're here. He's here.
Searing bile rose in Rollo's throat.
The villains of Night Raven College. They've returned to torment me.
The horned man's lips pulled back, revealing blinding, knife-like incisors. His voice was a rumble that could shake the mountains. "It is a pleasure to see you again."
Rollo knitted his fingers together tightly, his knuckles going bone white. "Malleus Draconia and company. How kind of you to pay a visit to the City of Flowers."
"Well, it is an important acquaintance's day of birth." Malleus extended an arm to him. His smile was mocking, twisted at the corners. "It is good manners to come and greet the blessed boy."
Rollo snorted, careful to not let his expression sink into a too-obvious sneer--not in front of his classmates. "You will have to excuse me. I don't recall granting you such information."
"Ah, that," Malleus chuckled darkly. "One could say... a little bird told me. Excitable creatures, those. I do believe she is in attendance as well--likely lost in this sea of guests. Do remember to give your gratitude for organizing this get-together, for now you have no need to fear being alone on this momentous occasion."
That Malleus Draconis, he's patronizing me!! Rollo snarled internally. Bells played a resounding war ballad in his head. Were his rage any greater, steam would be pouring out of his ears. How dare he...
Before he could get a word in, his aide and vice president excitedly flanked him.
"Isn't this great, Mister President?" the vice president asked, heartily smacking Rollo on the shoulder. "All your friends gathered in one place to celebrate you and your achievements."
"We worked really hard to put this together," the aide chimed in. "We hope you enjoy it."
"This is our thanks to you!" A line of gargoyles bounced up and down--perhaps the most animated he had ever witnessed the slabs of stone. "Happy birthday, Rollo!"
The words shriveled in his mouth.
He took one look at his fellow student council members. Their jubilant, shining faces met him. He looked at the waiting Noble Bell College students behind them, and then the Night Raven College students walling off his only route of escape. They wore smirks in varying shades. And the dancing gargoyles.
Rollo was caught like a mouse in a trap.
A monstrous roar ripped through the room. "Let's get this party started!!"
"Yes, quite..." Rollo muttered unenthusiastically. He was easily drowned out by his overjoyed classmates.
Rollo glowered to himself as he bent to retrieve his fallen handkerchief. His harsh glare burned a hole in the floor.
The man's carefully crafted schedule, interrupted. Peace and quiet, shattered. His worst enemies in his sanctuary. And he, tiredly relenting and resigning to it all.
What am I going to do with these charlatans...?!

Deuce, Malleus: My Dream, to Defend
I now read everything Malleus says as extremely ominous and foreboding (knowing the context of book 7) 👨 THEY’RE ALL RED FLAGS 🚩, YOUR HONOR *proceeds to perpetuate the red flags by giving Malleus reasonably optimistic but also ominous-in-the-right-context dialogue*
Also??? Why are Ace and Deuce's faces on their birthday cards so similar 😂 They kinda match, even their Groovies (they kind of look like they're racing each other!)… cute
A Boy in Bloom, and his Flowering Future.
Tumblr media
“What makes you glad you can use magic?”
Malleus paused, pondering the question. “What an odd inquiry.”
“For Malleus-senpai, yeah. You use magic for almost everything! It must be hard to just pick one thing about it that makes you go, 'I'm thankful for this!'. But for me…” Deuce tilted his head back, looking up to the structure that loomed over them.
It was the main building of the campus, housing numerous classrooms and offices. Regal and imposing, with several turreted towers and balconies, it was less an academic institution and more like a castle. A castle where dreams and wishes came true. Among them, his--if he worked hard enough.
"I'm happy that I got into Night Raven College," he said earnestly. "I never thought I had the magic potential to make it to a place like this, but here I am... standing at the steps."
Malleus's mouth curled. "What a surprise. Many of the students I've encountered here are the self-assured types. If I may ask... Why is it that you did not believe yourself worthy to stand among us here?"
"Long story short, I was kind of a delinquent back then. I'd use my magic to get up to no good. Y'know, laying the smackdown on anyone that talked shit or looked at me the wrong way."
"... 'Lay the smackdown'? 'Talked shit'? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with such colloquialisms."
"Er, it sounds really wrong hearing those words come from you... Basically, it means 'fighting' and, 'when people say bad things about you'. Got it?"
"I understand. Perhaps I will take care to incorporate such terms into my vocabulary. It may even make me appear more approachable to others."
"AHHHH!!!" Deuce startled, frantically waving his hands to silence his interviewer. "M-Maybe that's not such a good idea!! I think Sebek'd tackle me to the ground and kill me on the spot for teaching you bad words..."
"Fufufu, I jest."
"A-Are you really...?"
"Of course. Please, continue sharing your story." Malleus gestured for him to proceed. "Pray tell, why is it that you became entangled in such affairs?"
"Lots of stuff," Deuce said vaguely. "Mostly because I stood out. Didn't really fit in. It was easier to take out my frustrations on others than to work on myself.
"When my magic came to me, it was helpful to have in fights. It would drive some people off, and they'd leave me alone. They were scared of getting crushed again by a cauldron."
"Scared, you say... Hmm." Malleus looked pensive. "I see. So there are cases where non-mages feel threatened by the existence of mages."
"Huh?!" Deuce stared at him, eyes bulging. "That never occurred to you before, senpai?!"
"Magic comes naturally to me. It is capable of blessings and miracles. I cannot imagine why anyone would fear it."
"Well, I think it's because magic can do good things, but it can also do bad things.”
“Good and bad…” Malleus’s brows crinkled as the considered the thought, a finger to his chin.
Deuce’s stomach dropped at the sight. “Did I speak out of turn?! Y-You don’t have to listen to what I said if you don’t want to, senpai! Forget me, wh-what do I know anyway?!”
“… No, not at all. I was just thinking about your words. It reminds me of something my grandmother told me.”
“Eh, your grandma? Y-You don’t mean the queen of Briar Valley? I… reminded you of her?” Deuce squealed, afraid to speak her name.
“Yes, she.” Malleus’s eyes darkened, resembling a storm right before lightning struck. “Grandmother says that we Draconias were gifted with great powers—and with it, great responsibility to our people and their smiles. It is with this power that we are able to protect our country.
“Is it not similar for magic in general? The wielder is the one who determines whether one’s magic is used for ‘good’ or for ‘bad’ means. In which case… it is up to each of us to use what we have for ‘good’.”
“Draconia-senpai…!!” Deuce clutched a fist to his heart. A smile was at his lips, his eyes shining. “You get me!! I… I want to use my magic for things like that! To defend my friends and my family…!!”
“That is the way.” Malleus smirked, relishing in the newfound fire in his junior’s eyes. “The power to protect those you love is within your own hands. All you must do is shape it, guide it… and make that dream come true, regardless of the obstacles that may cross your path.”
“I’ll do my best!! If there’s one thing I know I’m good at, it’s being stubborn!”
“That kind of persistence is unique to you.” Malleus showed his teeth. “Take pride in that, Spade.”
"You bet I will!!"
"... Incidentally, how do you fare in Defense Magic?"
"Urk!!" The birthday boy visibly deflated--an indication of his answer. "N-Not the best... I studied as much as I could, but still barely passed my last exam. But don't worry about me, Draconia-senpai!!"
Deuce pointed at his temple. "I'll train my brain even more so I can get at least a C next time!!"
A C... so he means to say that he earned a D on his previous exam.
A low laugh rumbled out of Malleus. “How truly tenacious of you, Spade. I wish you the best of luck on that journey.”
He lifted a hand, fingers curling around the milky orb floating in the sky. The wind rustled upon his command, ushering in a cool breeze that chased off the bleating heat of summer.
“The birthday road, and your future, awaits.”
“Yes!! I’m on my way!!” Deuce eagerly mounted his broom. His knees were tucked together tightly, stiffly securing the handle.
“Ah, and Spade. One more thing.”
“Yeah? What’s up?”
“When the times comes,” Malleus said with an easy smile, “you are free to defend yourself against my magic.”
Deuce nearly fell off of his broom at the suggestion. “Whaaat?! There’s no way I’d be able to hold up against your magic…! I’ll be just a pile of ashes by the time you’re done with…”
He caught himself and stopped. A deep breath taken, and then he set his jaw. The peacock green of his eyes had dimmed into a shade more serious.
“… No. I… I just told you that I wanted to be the kind of guy who’s capable of defending the people he loves. That means no running away, even if I’m scared, even if I know I might not win! That’s my promise to myself.”
“Fufu, that’s what I like to hear. I will be expecting you sometime then.”
Deuce gulped. “Got it! I’ll face your challenge and my future… head-on!!”
FwooooOOOSH!!
A steady wind kicked up, starting small and growing into a powerful gale. Deuce yelped as his broom bucked forward, inching above the ground on only a few startled sparkles. He looked back in horror, only to find Malleus chuckling into a hand.
Had that been a magical push?
“Heh, so that’s how it’s gonna be?” A wicked glint had surfaced in Deuce, from the eyes to his grin. “I’ll show you just how I ride…!”
Gripping the handle tightly, he leaned forward, bracing himself for a familiar rush. Height wasn’t his goal, but speed.
The world stilled. His senses sharpened, his thoughts growing louder, more insistent.
Imagine a magical wheel. Think of becoming one with the wind. So fast that you’re not yourself anymore.
He blasted off, a tornado of swirling blue petals left where he had once been. Flitting down lazily, drunken on the moonlight, they were the mark of a speed demon reborn.
The past, far behind him.

Leona, Malleus: The Light of Another Day
QDBIHLLASIYFVIYAFSfisb;OFS;BO TH E WAY I WOKE UP TO THAT SMUG ASS FAC E AND MY frIENDSWERE LIKE “u up?”, “you gonna roll?”, “have u seen him yet?” 🤣 Gotta say, that initial pose looks pretty bashful if not for his stupid hot smirk, it’d kind of endearing in its own... arrogant way?
Leona and Malleus are sometimes portrayed (in the fandom) as rivals with an intense hatred of one another, but I’ve always thought that the hostility was more one-sided. It’s cool to see them act very vaguely petty in these vignettes, but also stay mature for the most part and actually relate to one another 😌
ALSO I LOVE HOW L(ONAS ‘S PICKSD KALIM MAinLY BECAUSE THE AS I m FAMIL UY WOUDL  RESCU E THEM QUICKLY THAT’S SO BIG B4AINED KNING OTL ANASD L*ONAE CHOSING TH E SAME DORM ASM J WOR DZVN;OABIUDDBUIAPIDBAPBUDBbduM YOU DON’T SEE M Y S*MPING OVER THAT YOU DON’T
Imagine this…
Tumblr media
The air was thick, charged with the tension of beasts sizing one another up. Two mighty powers, two mighty presences, had deigned to converge in the same space today. Lion and dragon, each silently vying for dominance.
Their combined auras, overwhelming. Exuding an air of absolute authority.
The dragon struck.
“Hoh. How interesting that you would pick to join Pomefiore dorm,” Malleus mused, a gloved hand stroking his chin. A playful smile played upon his lips. “To think that you’d have dreams of being a pampered, domesticated housecat rather than a wild one…”
“Me, join them?” Leona scoffed. “Please. They’d be the ones joining me. I don’t intend to be some prim and proper housecat—I’ll rise to the top and leave Pomefiore’s students mewling and kneeling at my feet. They’re the domesticated ones. Obedient. Servile.”
Malleus laughed darkly, flashing a brief peek of his pointed canines. “You already have your sights already set on stealing Schoenheit’s crown.”
“I could take him—him and Rook.” The birthday boy placed a hand on his jutted hip, a lazy confidence to his figure. “At the same time.”
“Hunt as well?” Malleus’s eyes shone with genuine interest.
“There’s only room for one of us. No vice dorm leaders needed.”
“I don’t believe they’re unnecessary, but I can understand the sentiment.” Malleus folded his arms, allowing his smirk to grow. “Ah, but I would imagine that the dorm and who stands in your way holds little meaning. Wherever you prowl, you will attempt to conquer the kingdom you find yourself in and surround yourself with loyal vassals. Isn’t that right?”
“See, you get it.”
One of the few times they saw eye-to-eye.
“I simply recognize the look of ambition when I see it. When your eyes are on the prize, you are like an entirely different person.” The corner of Malleus’s lip curled at a memory of several months ago--some attempt to injure him, and the report that Lilia had delivered.
A man seeking something greater than himself.
The right to break free. The desire to save his people, and to prove himself worthy. All the world watching him, breaths held in their chests.
We’re not so different, you and I.
Bemused, Malleus chuckled at the thought.
“Oi. What’re you snickering about?”
“Nothing that you need concern yourself with, I assure you.” Malleus raised a hand, matching the motion of his mouth.
“Tch. Conniving lizard.”
“So that’s your impression of me. Most humorous. The same can be said of yourself.” The fairy’s eyes narrowed into slivers, the green of his irises even brighter than usual. “What was it that you said, hmm? That you would pick poor Asim to make use of the safety net that his family provides. And that would be discounting your errand boy, Bucchi, and your dorm and club juniors.”
“Utilizing people and their skills as though they were pawns on a chess board... That’s quite the dangerous power in your arsenal.”
Leona only threw his head back and laughed, low and gravelly, like a great stampede of wildebeests. “You say that like it’s a bad thing. I’m using what’s avaliable to me to my advantage.”
“Fufu. I never said that it was.”
This time, it was Leona’s turn to narrow his eyes. “What’re you getting at, huh?”
“Accept the compliment for what it is, Kingscholar. I so rarely give them out.”
“Ooh, I’m shaking in my sandals,” he replied dryly. “You want me to roll over and purr or something? I’m not one of your lackeys that’ll keel over the instant you offer empty praise.”
“No, you’re not.” Malleus paused, his next words clasped against his chest like a string of pearls. “... A question, if you will.”
“What is it? Make it quick.”
“What do you intend to do once you are let loose from Night Raven College? When there are no dorms to take over, and no students to command?”
When there is no destiny to flee from.
“... Isn’t it obvious?” Leona held his head high, meeting Malleus with a fierce gaze. “I’ll carve my own path forward.”
Malleus lifted an eyebrow. “You...”
“The young Kingscholar could never match your grace,” Lilia had once said. Disappointed, dismissive. “He is selfish and prideful, one who is far better suited for a collar than a crown. He will never truly be ‘king’ with that rotten heart of his.”
And yet something had changed in him over the course of the past several months. A revived drive, and determination. Beams of light peeking through cracks in the clouds. The sun finally rising in the savanna.
Potential glistening, shining through his gruff exterior.
Another day come, led by him.
Interesting. It appears as though it is possible to teach an old cat new tricks after all.
“What’s with that dumbfounded look? Didn’t you hear me?” Leona rolled his shoulders back and smirked. “Crown or no, I’ll claw my way to where I want to be myself. I’ll be respected, saluted, and seen for the wonder I am.”
“Pfft. Humility isn’t your strong suit, Kingscholar.”
“It’s not exactly yours either.”
Sarcasm met with sarcasm. Lion and dragon, quietly clashing.
One to roam free, and the other soon to be caged in a castle, shackled to royal duties.
Mutuals on opposite sides of the scale.
Malleus found himself slowly nodding. “I see... so that is your answer.”
“Do you now?” Leona’s voice was a taunt laced with challenge. “Took you long enough.”
“Alas, how time does fly when we’re ‘having fun’. I do believe this interview should be wrapping up shortly.” Malleus tugged off a glove with one hand, then did the same to the other, tossing them both onto a table. “Are you prepared for what’s to come?”
Leona grimaced, his fur standing on end. “Even if I wasn’t, you’d still relish in pieing me.”
“Pieing? Let’s not think of it as something so common and barbaric. I, for one, can think of no greater privilege than blessing an oh-so-important prince by my own hand.”
“Grrrr...”
“Come.” Malleus swept up a pie, his expression calm, yet smug--eyes lidded and lips upturned. “I shall even do you the honor of blessing you the ‘old-fashioned’ way. No tricks, no magic.”
“Wow, I feel so honored.” Leona’s voice was as flat as a sheet of paper. “Tch, just get it over with. The sooner, the better.”
“Very well then. Do not cower like a kitten, and show me your greatest battle roar.”
Leona’s eyes flashed menacingly. “Don’t order me around.”
“Fufufu. My deepest apologies... and may you have the most blessed of birthdays, Kingscholar.”
SPLAT!!
The pie went directly into Leona’s face, burying him in whipped cream and spilling over his hair. He fumbled around for the pie and removed its platter, shaking furious to send whipped cream flying onto his clothes and the room. Inclining his head, Leona growled through his teeth.
“Hahah. So funny, I’m howling like a hyena,” he grumbled, crushing the paper plate in his hand. “I hope you know that I’m NOT taking this lying down.
“Be prepared, lizard. It’s payback time.”

Sorry to bother you but may I ask if you have a masterlist of your platonic reader works and your non reader works (like the union ones) without reader
Tumblr media
I sort my regular masterlists by character and temporal order, not by type of content. The Make your Vows masterlist 1 and 2 are only mainly romantic requests because that was the nature of the particular blog event they are associated with.
Please check out my page of masterlists for general requests and other blog events. I will, however, caution that a lot of those pieces are also romantic and/or reader-inserts, so you’ll have to sift through them to find the ones that are platonic and/or canon characters only. You’ll usually be able to tell from the bullet points; if it doesn’t mention “S/O”/“crush” or “MC”/“Reader”, then it is most likely platonic or involves only the canon characters.
To get you started, here are some of my personal favorite platonic and/or canon character only works that I’ve written:
Birthday Imagines and/or interactions! (you need to look for the “[TWST boy’s first name] Birthday Takeover” tag, depending on the character you are looking for)
Twisted Tarot
Magic Mystery Letters
Delights in Bites (platonic and romantic pieces are labelled on this one)
Gordon Ramsay in Twisted Wonderland series (yes, it’s an ongoing series 😂 one for each Master Chef/Culinary Crucible)
Babysitting Baby Octavinelle Part 1 / Part 2
Adeuce and Grim comfort an exhausted Yuu
Working at McDonald’s
Cater takes Malleus to a Maid Cafe
Beach trip with the first years
Idia finds Leona swarmed by cats
Beach trip with Octavinelle and Scarabia
Ortho cooks for Idia
First years as dorm leaders
Magical Shift/Spelldrive Club eats grilled meat together
Octavinelle as child!Reader’s imaginary friends
Heartslabyul running Magicam accounts
Jamil and Najma
Ruggie and his Granny
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY, DEUCE AND RUGGIE :))
Reader comforted by sentient Octavinelle plushies
Silver and Riddle have a heart-to-heart while cooking

Aaaah 😭 that was so much fun!!
I really miss doing that style of birthday takeovers; I had to stop doing them because it was way too time consuming and stressful for me 💦 but it’s really interesting to look back and relive the shenanigans. I totally forgot how weird the birthday takeovers got!

Malleus, Riddle: Party of One No Longer
To me, the most interesting part of Malleus’s birthday interview was when he marveled over the miracle that is online shopping 😂
Imagine this...
Tumblr media
Surviving alone on a deserted island was no challenge for him. In his eyes, every dorm was a kingdom waiting to be conquered. A young mage of frightening skill and strength, feared by all.
He was Malleus Draconia.
Riddle warily peered at his upperclassman from the top of his clipboard. Malleus had technically provided answers to each and every question, but... “... Were those truly adequate responses for the interview?”
The fairy, who loomed over Riddle’s tiny frame, frowned. “I believe I did as I was asked. Do you wish to redo it?”
“No,” Riddle said quickly. The last thing he wanted was to upset Malleus--he hadn’t come for a battle, but to fulfill a duty. “No, I suppose not. Please, do carry on as you were.”
Malleus held his gaze for perhaps a second or two too long. The corner of his mouth tugged up into a smirk. “You have no need to be quite so uptight, Rosehearts. This is a party, a celebration. Be at ease. I insist that you eat, drink, and be merry--”
He lifted a hand, and at once, a vacant chair from a nearby table rocketed to him. It slammed into Riddle’s back at an angle, causing him to lose his footing, drop his clipboard, and fall into the seat. With its new captive in tow, the chair magically maneuvered itself to a sweets-laden display.
Riddle blinked.
“--for you are my guest,” Malleus finished, reappearing at his side.
“This...” Riddle hesitated, choosing his every word with the utmost caution. “This is very generous of you. Such a sumptuous spread is like something out of a child’s fantasy.”
“Oh? Was I incorrect to assume that you would enjoy such a thing?”
“Wh-What...!!” Riddle’s face flared red. “Are you calling me a child?!”
“Fufu. I meant nothing of it.” Malleus leaned against his chair, the emeralds of his eyes half-lidded. “There is a bit of childishness in all of us. A piece of innocence we wish to cling to, no matter how dark and depraved the world may be to us.
“We hold responsibilities that we must tend to. People who look to us for guidance. The image of a strong, capable leader to maintain. Those few precious moments when we are allowed to set our inner child free... Is it so wrong to relish in them?”
“Malleus-senpai...”
He’s addressing me, but it sounds as though he is just as much speaking to himself.
Something in Riddle’s chest twinged when his eyes met his upperclassman’s. There was a darkness that had emerged from the green of his irises, something familiar and raw and melancholy. The same look that Riddle had worn all throughout his own childhood, on the inside looking out.
Loneliness.
“I think I understand how you feel,” Riddle said at last. “Time can steal away from us before we even realize it... but there is no rule prohibiting us from enjoying ourselves while we still can.”
“You catch on quickly.” The fairy prince chuckled, flicking his wrist.
Silverware danced, spoons and forks and knives gliding through the air. Blades sunk into cakes, tarts, and pies, cutting up slices and sliding them onto clean plates. The single servings of dessert closed in on Riddle, presenting themselves in a ring like potential suitors at a grand ball, each vying for his attention.
“Take your pick,” Malleus crooned, waving a hand over the options.
Riddle stared at him quizzically. “You are the birthday boy. It would be rather impudent of me to indulge myself at this celebration without your grace.”
“I have come to terms with the fact that I am not welcome at festivities,” Malleus replied bluntly. “I have said as much for my interview, yes? I am used to being by my lonesome. You have no need to take pity on me. Or does tradition obligate you to do so?”
“... I do not claim to know what goes through your head, but know this: it is not out of obligation or pity that I extend this offer to you.” Riddle stubbornly shook his head. “You are an individual worthy of great admiration. An excellent student, mage, and leader... I could ask for no better dining companion.
“Malleus-senpai.” Riddle paused to clear his throat. “Would you do me the honor of having a slice of cake with me? Not as a dorm leader, not as classmates, but as equals. As the children that we are, liberated from our everyday duties and demands.”
“Rosehearts...” The surprise on his face soon gave way to his usual composed attitude. “I would be delighted.”
“Just a moment.” Riddle stood from his seat, holding up a hand to stop Malleus from claiming the chair beside him. “There still remains the matter of the gift of good fortune.”
“Ah, of course. I’ve been looking forward to it all year.”
“Erm, yes.” The redhead quirked an eyebrow. “You’ve been eagerly anticipating this?”
“Indeed. It is not often when I am able to experience events such as this. Sebek would sooner offer to take a pie in my place than allow for my clothes to be sullied.”
“That... certainly sounds like Sebek.” Riddle sighed as he peeled off his gloves, carefully tucking them into a blazer pocket. “Right, then. We’d best get to it, lest he come charging over to block the hit.”
“Please, allow me.” Another wave of Malleus’s hand, and a whipped cream pie floated over and placed itself in his interviewer’s grasp.
“Thank you.” Once again, Riddle cleared his throat. “Malleus-senpai, I wish you a very happy birthday!!”
PLAPP!
Riddle didn’t throw the pie with much vigor--it landed squarely on the birthday boy’s right pectoral, the impact spraying globs of whipped cream over his neck, his face, and his hair. Malleus appeared dazed. Eyes wide as he slowly processed what had just occurred.
And, for one terrible, awful, horrifying moment, Riddle feared that his life would be cut short in a flash of blinding draconic rage.
But then he saw the smile.
A smile that reminded him of the fresh red roses in the Heartslabyul gardens. Set upon lips as full and ripe as the plush petals of a flower, lovely like droplets of dew at daybreak, muting the thorns and harsh angles of his face. Wholehearted and toothy, a smile spun from dreams and tender bedtime stories.
This was Malleus Draconia.

"WAKASAMA! In celebration of this joyous occasion and to uplift the spirits of all the students--I have also commissioned an artist to capture your awe-inspiring form! It is my lord, tastefully nude! Posed artfully while wearing the crown along with holding the sceptre and orb that represents your position as Heir to the Valley of Thorns!" Sebek puffed his chest up, absolutely pleased with his contribution to the party. "I had it hung in every room throughout the College! Including the dorms!"
Fire Emblem Awakening, Chrom and Frederick C Support except it’s Malleus and Sebek
“We just finished distributing the flyers shortly before your birthday party started, Malleus-sama!” announced a Diasomnia mob student.
The mob proudly held up a copy of the poster in question. Indeed, the illustrated Malleus was every bit as nude as Sebek had said it was, with the naughty bits censored by the angle of  his knee as he knelt, a scepter in one hand and an orb in the other. A crown of thorns rested in his hair, and the illustrated Malleus stared intensely at any onlookers.
“Now all of Night Raven College will be able to gaze upon our Young Master’s perfect visage!!” called another, eyes sparkling. “Woe to the fools that spit upon the Young Master’s good name and image!!”
“THAT IS CORRECT!!” Sebek cried. “Those that so much as dare look at the Young Master or his illustration the wrong way... THEY WILL BE SWIFTLY STRUCK DOWN AND PURGED!!”
He raised a fist into the air and shouted, “ALL HAIL LORD MALLEUS!! PURGE THE DISSENTERS!!”
“ALL HAIL LORD MALLEUS!!” The other Diasomnia students joined in the chant. “PURGE THE DISSENTERS!!”
“PURGE THEM!!”
“PURGE, PURGE!!”
“Silence.”
The single word from Malleus’s lips was all it took to immediately still the exhilarated Diasomnia students. Their dorm leader wore a chilling expression devoid of all emotion, save for the fire in his eyes.
“Sebek.”
“Y-Yes!!”
“Mobilize a squadron to remove every last poster by the end of today.”
“E-Eh?! But Malleus-sama... How will we be able to spread word of your magnificence if the posters are removed?”
“Simple.” He held up a hand, a sinister green flame dancing in his palm. “I will allow my actions to speak for myself, rather than pretty images or words.”
Malleus closed his hand, quickly extinguishing the fire. “I understand that your intentions were not with ill intent--however, we must be cautious in territory that does not belong to us. Encroaching on others’ land is a sure way to get wrapped up in a war, and it speaks poorly on our manners.”
“I ask that you not make me repeat my order, Sebek.”
“Yes, Young Master!! Of course, you’re absolutely right!! P-PLEASE FORGIVE ME!”
“Forgiveness granted.” Malleus waved his hand dismissively. “Begone. You may return to the celebration once your task is complete.”
“YESSIR!!”
Sebek and the various mob students he led saluted before tearing off toward the Mirror Chamber.
... Malleus turned away and headed for a corner of the attic. Leaning his forehead against the wall and burying his head in his hands, he let out a long sigh.
How embarrassing.
(Elsewhere, in Night Raven College...
“... Why is there a poster of a nude Malleus in my cannister of lemon tea leaves?”
“DAMN IT, RUGGIE!! Why is that dragon bastard’s face all over my room?!”
“My, I was not aware that Malleus-san wished to advertise in the Mostro Lounge. I had better foot him a bill if he wishes to make his presence known at our business.”
“I finally get one moment to breathe from dealing with Kalim, and then this happens... I can never catch a break.”
“Rook, stop ogling those posters and tear them down. And no, I do not care how enchanted you are with them--they clash terribly with Pomefiore, and that is enough grounds for removal.”
“W-Who stuffed a poster of Malleus-shi in my gaming console...?”
“Dire, you had better punish the Diasomnia pups for this unruly behavior--”)
