I feel like a lot of people don’t realize how important it is for people to see ships like lumity and huntlow coming from a brand like disney that’s known for having ships that really is known to enforce a lot of beauty standards on to kids.
lumity is definitely not “on brand” with disney but i feel like so much of the appeal in it comes from that fact. luz doesn’t fit disneys standards for an attractive girl at all. (she is very pretty tho don’t get me wrong) whereas amity is definitely seen by a lot of fans to be very attractive and i think that makes the ship even more powerful. luz doesn’t fall for amity first, amity falls for luz.
i don’t think i can even explain how much this meant to me as a poc. like omg the hot gay witch that everyone thinks is super hot falls for the dorky brown girl??? that alone makes me love the ship 1000x more. its amazing that kids get to grow up with a ship like that that really flips tropes and cliches and is still so fun and cute to watch. it really teaches young bisexuals and pocs that; hey! you can totally find a super loving healthy relationship where the other person respects you :) ive mentioned in the past that i used to feel really self conscious of my lips but luz helped my overcome that. it’s a small but very important thing to me. i also used to always be worried about how partners would take me being bi, again luz was so helpful in overcoming that fear.
huntlow is another ship that i feel is incredibly important for reasons similar to lumity. a lot of people are probably going to hate me for saying that lmao but idk i still think it’s very likely to become canon. again like lumity the character the fandom finds to be the most attractive falls first
some people say that willow fell first but I feel like given the fact that hunters been the only one who blushes a lot more people are gonna go “oh hunter likes willow” rather than “willow likes hunter” (i mean i think willow likes hunter but it’s not as obvious so im not gonna talk about that aspect of this ship and it’s not relevant to the point im trying to get across.)
a lot of people have also said that huntlow parallels lumity in how lot in how their interactions are written and i really agree with that. hunter has from the minute his face was revealed always been seen as attractive by the fandom. i feel like people only really started saying the same about willow when hunter started showing signs of having a crush on her.
willow like luz isn’t the conventionally attractive disney princess type. she’s larger, east asian, and more quiet. still through hunters perspective we’re able to see these aspects of her along with how she can still be confident and an incredibly powerful witch.
just like with lumity the show allows people to stop and be like huh luz is actually really pretty and super cute or huh willow is actually really gorgeous and talented. we’re able to see these characters from the perspective of the people who are in love with them.
at first amity and hunter both don’t really understand why willow and luz are the way they are. hunter and amity have been raised with the perspective of having to be better than everyone all the time so when they meet luz and willow - two very powerful witches - they dont understand why they’re approaching things with the perspective they have. but slowly they’re able to see a different side of them which in turn allows the viewer to also understand luz and willow more.
we see hunter and amity have this moment of realization; huh it’s actually okay to let people see a more friendly side of myself that’s more open with people and that doesn’t take anything away from how powerful i have the capability of being.
I think that just the fact alone that luz is able bring out the best side of amity and the fact that willow is able to bring out the best side of hunter is really cute and admirable. these two standoffish teens with self hatred issues are just are suddenly super soft around these two super sweet cute girls. idk i just really like these two ships.

So on twitter the other day, @rebeccaartsy mentioned she was thinking about how different things would be if Hunter was there from the beginning and it really got my mind moving.
So like my totally self indulgent headcanon or whatever,is that Hunter in season one is spending his time hunting wild witches and no one really takes him seriously so the whole time he’s trying to prove himself by trying to capture the most famous wild witch, Eda. But I like to think he doesn’t have a very strong artificial staff at this point and isn’t seen as much of a threat. He’s also either not the Golden Guard yet or just wears normal scout stuff to draw less attention. So he is always setting traps and stuff and Luz meets him and his vibe is like an annoying neighbor kid. He just gets roped into the occasional adventure because he’s there and just when he's starting to question life in the coven he gets promoted to coven head and he works even harder to be taken seriously.
Because I love how Hunter and Willow meet so much where they see the true version of each other right away in a way no one else has, I imagine their first meeting is still outside Luz and everything. Like, Hunter is messing with something plant related (maybe making a trap or liking for a rare plant to help Belos, idk) and gets tangled in some aggressive vines and Willow finds him and helps him. But the vines are from like a really complicated plant that requires extreme patience and talent and he’s like even Terra would have trouble with it and while his spitting facts Willow just untangles him effortlessly. She’s just like “boop! You’re good :)” and at first he’s worried she’s gonna tell someone or blackmail him but she’s just “no prob yo.” But she’s also very impressed that he found the plant that he did, cause they're super elusive and he’s like uhhh thanks.
So he offers to walk her to where she’s going and they start talking and he’s info dumping things on plant magic and they’re vibing and he realizes no one has ever let him talk so much before. And she likes talking to him. Then he realizes exactly where they are and before he can make an excuse to leave, Luz comes out to greet Willow and when she sees Hunter she groans. And they dive into their sibling banter slinging shots back and forth and Willow just stands there thinking like “huh, this is the guy who’s always annoying her? He’s not that bad.”
And so it’s just like a little bit where he’s always like “ugh you guys are the worst! But not you Willow, you’re great obvi.” Like he has no idea anyone would ever think she’s weak because he still met her in her element and she just thinks he’s a dork. But the crushing doesn't really start until Understanding Willow because I love that episode and I say so:
“Gus, listen,” said Hunter, as he walked through the open door of the Owl House. “Obviously, there is much I can’t divulge but upon consideration I am willing to grant you an interview for your class. The Emperor’s Coven values education, and so I could definitely offer you information on our selection process which I’m sure your teachers will find impressive and- why is Willow upside down?”
“Oh, Amity set Willow’s mind on fire and now she’s losing all her memories,” said Luz with a nervous chuckle. “But uh, what’s up with you?”
“What?” He said running over to her side and helping her sit correctly on the couch. “Is she okay?”
“Don’t worry blondie, we’re gonna get these knuckleheads in there to set things right,” said Eda. “Or at least less wrong.”
“You’re gonna entrust Willow’s mind in the hands of… them?” Said Hunter in disdain as he glared at Luz and Amity who honestly couldn’t argue with him. “They were the ones who put her in this situation in the first place! Not to mention, this location isn’t zoned for a spell of that caliber and as a member of the Emperor’s Coven I could-.”
“Listen, do you want it done soon or do you want it done legally?” Asked Eda. “Cause by the time we get the permits to do it your way Goldie, there won’t be any of Willow’s memories left to save.”
“Very well then,” said Hunter, pretending as though it was a hard decision. “I’ll allow it. Just… be careful with her.”
“Alright then,” said Eda. “Lemme whip up something to put her to sleep. She’s not gonna wanna be awake for this.”
“Oh look, the prince is here,” giggled Willow, leaning on Hunter’s shoulder for support as she noticed his presence for the first time. “Helloooo, your highness.”
“Uh, hi,” he said, not expecting her to be this close to him. “A-re you oka-.”
“Shhh,” she said, putting her finger to his lips, whispering as though it was the most serious thing on earth. “There’s something I need to tell you.”
“What?” he said despite his lips being smushed, hanging on to her words with concern.
She took a deep breath. “You have beautiful eyes.” She whispered with intensity.
His face turned bright crimson as he tried to laugh, assuming it must be a joke of some sort. But Willow’s voice didn’t carry the disdain most jokes at Hunter’s expense carried. She wasn’t in her right mind, but maybe that didn’t mean she wasn’t serious.
“Oh uh… thank you?” He said, clearing his throat. “So uh so do you?”
“Hmmm,” she giggled then hiccuped, squinting at him and then leaning in closer as though she couldn’t quite see something. “Do they make you wear that mask because you're so handsome all the time?”
“What?”
“Woo, you could cut something with that jaw ouch,” she said, her voice low and playful before erupting into another sea of giggles.
“I uh, I don’t think that’s-.”
“Nap time!” Said Eda, and Willow instantly fell asleep, leaning forward onto Hunter’s shoulder. He was unprepared to say the least, but tentatively put an arm around her to keep her steady, his eyes wide as his movements were careful.
“Alright coven boy, you keep Princess Planter comfy while I tell these two how to keep things from getting worse,” instructed Eda, pointing to Luz and Amity.
“Yeah sure okay,” replied Hunter, barely listening. Eda was telling Luz and Amity something but all Hunter could hear was the gentle sound of Willow snoring, her breathing slow and deep and peaceful. He has never been so close to her, he could see every delicate freckle that decorated her face. Her glasses were askew so he carefully removed them, because it just seemed like the thing to do. Her mind was on fire, the least he could do was make her more comfortable.

He watched as her eyes shifted behind her eyelids as she… dreamed? Would she think this was all a dream? She would mumble things occasionally, hopefully that meant something good? She just looked so-
“Hey Hunter, you want in on this?” Asked Gus.
“Huh?” He looked up quickly as though he was being accused of something. He hadn’t been listening. Hadn’t he been tasked with monitoring her? Is that what Eda said or had he just done it naturally? “Sorry, what?”
“King and Eda are competing to be the subject of my interview,” repeated Gus. “You want in?”
Hunter had forgotten all about being the subject of Gus’ report as he became engrossed in watching Willow sleep. Was that creepy? He didn’t mean it to be. He just felt… protective. He felt responsible. He could never fall asleep like this with anyone unless he trusted them completely. He had never fallen asleep around anyone. And he knew Willow did not have a choice in the matter but he wanted to be worthy of her trust anyway.
“Uh, no thanks maybe next time,” he said, uncharacteristically soft. “Someone should keep an eye on Willow.”
“Eh, she’s not going anywhere goldie,” said Eda as a twinkle entered her eye. “Buuuut when she does wake up, she’s probably gonna be hungry. Having the essence of your inner being threatened really takes alot out of you.”
“Oh yeah, sure,” said Hunter, looking at her in wonder. She seemed to be doing fine, but no doubt there would be brutal side effects. “Should I-.”
“Snacks! Snacks! Snacks!” chanted King.
“Oh yeah, uh I guess I could… do that,” he said softly. He wasn’t sure why he was being quiet, no one else was. But his usual tone didn’t seem fitting now. Normally, he would not take orders (or even suggestions) from civilians but if it was for Willow then it didn’t feel like succumbing to rank. It felt like helping. It felt purposeful. He carefully removed himself from Willow’s presence, mourning the loss of warmth for only a moment, and placed her comfortably on the couch. As he made his way to the kitchen, his eyes were glued to her until it was impossible to continue. Eda,King, and Gus were too occupied in their debate to notice.

Willow was going to be fine, she had to be. Everyone would be acting more worried if she wasn’t, right? She had always been strong and capable, he knew her mind couldn’t be much different. He turned his focus from concern into purpose. He wouldn’t admit it to the others, but he was thankful for the distraction. He felt foolish just sitting there not being able to do anything for her. He had never actually made something before, but how hard could it be? He had studied under the head of the Potions coven, how different was baking from that?
As he looked through Eda’s cupboards, Willow’s words echoed in his ears. Well, not all of them. There was one in particular, occupied by the way the ends of her mouth turned up as she said it that made his stomach flip.
Handsome.
No one had ever called him that before, not even ironically. Did she really think that? Why did he care so much if she did? Why, suddenly, did he want so much for her to?
Was it really suddenly though?
Ugh! Why hadn’t he said something cooler? He wasn’t sure she’d even remember saying it, but if she did he didn’t want his surprised reaction to prevent her from possibly repeating herself! He had never had issue thinking of clever retorts (though, to be fair he did do a fair deal of practicing in his bedroom mirror each night) and they often fell into a comfortable conversation. But sometimes she would say something a certain way or look at him too long and it would throw him off. Not in a bad way, no nothing at all like that, just… unexpected. She laughed at the jokes people would roll their eyes at or ask him to continue where normally he was cut off and all the little things just kept adding and piling up until Hunter didn’t know how he was supposed to carry them. She was so many little things, like the way she tilted her head when she asked him a silly question or how her glasses would slide off her edge of her knows when she got excited or the way she would stand close to him and sometimes their hands would brush like she didn’t care if they-
Focus! He thought, taking ingredients from the cabinets. There wasn’t much and what there was seemed to have no organizational system but he could resolve that after he figured out what to whip up. Something simple, something to show Willow he wanted to help. He didn’t know her well enough to enter her mind with Luz and Amity, but secretly he hoped he was getting there.

He managed to make something that resembled cookies, the smell filled the kitchen and it surprisingly wasn't an awful smell?. He remembered Willow mentioned once she was eager to get home as her father had made some and they were waiting for her. Truthfully, Hunter had never tasted a cookie but he had seen them when he walked by the bakery in town and knew the basics of their structure. Surely if he had taken a wrong turn the smell would reflect that, right? He imagined the look on Willow’s face when she saw his creation, and maybe even liked it. The flipped feeling returned to his stomach and spread through his whole chest like a wild fire when the potential look of delight on her face graced his mind.
In his efforts, he had made quite the mess. But he couldn’t help but feel pride as he quickly plated his creation, eager to return to Willow’s side. He didn’t think too much into this, he was always excited to see Willow. He tried not to think too much into that, chalking it up to the fact that she was interesting and a good listener and funny and smart and pretty and-
The point was she didn’t find him totally annoying, so why shouldn’t he enjoy her company?
And if she happened to think he was a little handsome then, well, that wasn’t the worst thing.
As he set the cookies to cool, he heard a sudden commotion from the next room. He quickly ran to see the cause, hoping it was a good sign. There was a bright flash and then he heard Luz and Amity. He stood back a moment, trying to deduce their tone before he heard Willow speak. Her voice was horse and soft, but he could tell she was back to normal. Good, he thought, feeling as though he could finally breathe again. She’s okay, she’s okay.
He went to greet her but before he could leave the kitchen, he was stopped by Luz. Before he could offer a snarky question as to what exactly she thought she was doing, she looked at him with wide, concerned eyes.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, furrowing his brow. He tried to looked past her to see what was going on. “Is she okay? Did something happen to-?”
“Willow’s fine.” she assured him, putting her arm up to stop him. “There was just some… complications.”
“What complications? Was she hurt? Does she need-?”
“No no, nothing like that but um there were some memories… we couldn’t save,” said Luz carefully.
“Like what? Did she forget something for a test she has? Because I can always-.”
“No, no uh there were more… recent memories,” Luz tried to figure out the nicest way to say this. ”Hunter, I’m sorry but we were still figuring out how things worked and it all happened so fast but… Willow doesn’t remember you.”
“What?” He felt something shatter.
“I’m so sorry, but hey, it’s an easy fix! Right? We can just introduce you now!”
“Yeah, uh I guess…” he said, looking at his current state. He had thrown on an old apron and was covered in flour, his hair a mess. This night was already so chaotic, it hardly seemed like a time Willow would want to meet someone new.
And then it dawned on Hunter: he had a second chance at a first impression.
Their first meeting had been… interesting. If you count hanging upside down by your ankle until a girl who took a wrong turn stumbles upon you helps untangle you interesting. Hunter did. But he had been so grumpy and flustered, and he wouldn’t have been had he only known who exactly had come to his rescue. She didn’t seem to care or be bothered by it, but he had come to value her opinion and he’d like to start again on the best foot possible. He had a chance for her to see him exactly as he wanted to be seen from the beginning and it felt like a chance he needed to seize.
His mind made up, he looked around for a way out before the human could return with Willow. Quickly, he climbed out the window and landed in a bush, He ducked beneath the window and pressed his back againythe wall as he heard Willow and Luz enter the kitchen,
“Huh, where did he go?” he heard Luz wonder.
“Who was this again?” Willow asked, her voice still raspy as though she was utterly exhausted.
“Uh, it’s kinda hard to explain,” Luz admitted. “But, he’ll be around again. I know he really wants to meet you!”
“Okay,” said Willow, uncertain. “If you say so.”
He couldn't help but think about the chill that went up his spine when she looked into his eyes. He didn’t understand exactly what it was but he knew it wasn’t nothing. He wanted Willow to know a better version of him. He cared what she thought. When she met him this time, he wanted it to be a meeting worth remembering.

And so for the rest of the series up until ASIAS he’s trying to work up the nerve to meet Willow again as Hunter. Just when he’s ready, he gets promoted to coven bead and that’s when I’m also promoting him to Golden Guard or maybe like Golden Guard full time. So now he has more on his plate and he gets a more advanced staff and now he’s a real threat. But of course because he’s a loser and can’t stay away from her so they do interact when he’s the Golden Guard and he has that masked confidence. He’s still getting to know her so he’ll like run into her in the market or something and flirt but didn’t realize it’s flirting and he’s planning the perfect way to “re-meet.” The whole time Willow is like bugging because there’s something so familiar about him but she doesn’t know what and the others don’t tell her because they’re like still figuring out his deal. So when he does come to Hexside during ASIAS it’s much more thought through and intentional and feelings have already been caught.
Anyway sorry for a long pointless post but that’s just been on my mind k thanks bye.

No judgement, just my opinion based on how shippers act and how I would feel if I were them. Pls let me know if I have forgotten something!
Lumity - you're glad you finaly got canon healthy wlw couple in a kid show and became obsessed with it. Also you like highschool romance trope and probably is taken.
Boschlow - you miss s1 Lumity potential and hate the way it was done in s2. Also you want Boscha to be your gf.
Boschamity - you miss s1 Amity and hate the way she was was done in s2. You believe deep inside Boscha is a good person, who has the same trauma as Amity and she could become better too if there was anyone for her. It's very likely that you're a bitch and used to have bitch friends who left you for some reason, but I can't judge you for it, cause I ship it too.
Willuz - you think Amity's arc was rushed. You feel bad for Willow, cause she was "separated" from Luz and Amity in s2 and think she became an ooc in s2 and miss Willow from s1.
Lunter - you think Lumity and Huntlow were written bad. "Highschool romance" is never your otp. You prefer classic (in any way). You're probably on aro spec or believe in soulmates. You and your crush always tease each other. You're good at keeping secrets.
Goldric - it started as a joke, but you don't think it's a joke anymore. When Huntlow appeared you realized you went too far to change anything. Also you just want to have more mlm couples in media.
Huntmira - it started as a respond to goldric shippers, but then you realized it actually has a great potential and their dynamic would be amazing.
Gunter - I haven't seen you, but I really hope you just want all good things for both of them and also think Gus is criminally overlooked.
Raeda - you're bigger than ship wars. Love between teens is overrated and love between adults is underrated. You love suffering and wanna be both Raine and Eda.
Gustholomule - you think it's extremely unfair that Gus doesn't have a partner.
Skasha - you love Boscha and want all the best for her, but you're fine with her being an antagonist and Amity being happy with Luz.
Skamity - for some reason you dislike Lumity, but want Amity to be a good guy and want her to be in healthy and equal relationship with someone who's like Luz. You probably don't really like Amity, but still want good things for her.
Odalador - you want Blight family to be actually good, happy and health family and I can't blame you for it. Also you wanna know more about Alador, Darius and Odalia's friendship in the past. You also think deep inside Odalia isn't as bad or at least want her to have at least some good traits.

Veesha - you want everyone to have a partner. You probably also used to ship Tom x Janna and just love "Mysterious demon x a Human who like mystery and demons" trope and want Masha to be inckuded in a Hexsquad. Also you wanna know more about Masha and adore Moringmark's comics.
Veelow - you don't like Huntlow and think Willow should get a gf instead. You also can see this fragile simality between Willow and Vee, but can't explain it.

okay so, you know, Hunter has this huge obvious crush on Willow
and once he comes to terms with and realizes this, of course he’s going to start trying to like, figure out What To Do About It
so please imagine Hunter spilling his romantic woes and agonies to his bestie Gus during their basement bros time, except, like, Gus is 12 and knows less than nothing about dating or affairs of the heart and frankly isn’t exactly interested in that kind of thing just yet
so naturally he refers Hunter to Luz, who as he sees it is the most romantically intelligent person in this friendgroup. she’s IN a relationship AND she absolutely loooves all that gushy stuff, so she must know all about it!
and Hunter and Luz are like, bound by blood. they’ve both seen each other at their worst, they know each other’s most dreadful and personal secrets, they would die and kill for each other, and all of that is great - but Hunter cannot bear the thought of pulling Luz aside and trying to tell her he thinks he’s Developed Feelings For The Captain
it’s just too mortifying. also, he’s pretty sure she would like, squeal and hug him, and he does not want her to make a big deal out of it. also she’d probably try to come up with some kind of romcom scheme to get them together and he also doesn’t want that. so no. Luz is out.
but then he realizes... he can ask Amity Blight. she’s ALSO in a relationship, after all! the same one Luz is in, even! and she’s known Willow longer, although he’s gathered from things the others have said that there’s a bit of a contentious history there? he doesn’t like the fact that she was Mean To Willow, but then, he was also Mean To Willow once, so he supposes that if she’s really trying to do better he can’t hold it against her (and it also means SHE can’t judge HIM, he figures - glass houses and all)
so. he goes to Amity. and present this to her as an incredibly serious matter that he requires her expertise on. and of course Amity is also going to take it seriously, because her own reservations re: Hunter aside, Willow deserves a competent and heartfelt courtship
unfortunately, Amity is 1) so gay that sometimes she forgets other people aren’t 2) not very socially astute or emotionally observant 3) just kind of a disaster?
so anyway their first conversation ends with Amity having Hunter half-convinced Willow doesn’t even like boys. Amity promises to investigate this on her own, but like - you know that one comic about Hunter trying to come out to Belos that just involves him walking into a room and shouting BOYS at his uncle? that’s basically how she goes about it.
Willow thinks Amity’s maybe trying to come out to her as bi? and reassures her that’s fine, to which Amity says ugh, of course not, then realizes how rude that sounded and panics a bit, and somehow they end up talking through Amity’s own anxieties re: her extremely nonbinary girlfriend’s gender stuff and what it means for her own sexuality
Amity leaves this conversation feeling really comfy and secure and settled on that issue and it isn’t until half an hour later that she remembers she was supposed to be gathering info for Hunter. she has no choice but to return to him in utter disgrace and tell him that, tragically, Willow is simply inscrutable and far, far too powerful.

I can’t believe it’s actually ending.
Three years the show has been airing. But it’s technically been a part of my life for five. I remember when The Owl House was first announced back in February 2018, and something about that magical poster and synopsis caught my eye. Something told me to look forward to this one, that it’d be special… And I had no idea.
I remember checking Dana’s accounts studiously, impatient for more TOH content ever since that poster. Eventually I stopped, giving up… But then finally, that original teaser trailer, fully instrumental as it gave us clips from what we’d later discover were just the first four episodes! I remember my speculation about Luz going to this world, even had a dream where she was revealed to be the Anti-Christ (not that this was a bad thing in context), that sort of thing. I got hyped to hear Luz’s VA be announced, and went out of my way to find clips of Sarah Nicole-Robles’ voice acting just so I could get an idea of what was to come.
And the show started off so humbly, so regularly, I didn’t think it’d become so serious! The fact that each episode was a fully twenty-two minutes did bode well for me, but damn. Hearing characters’ voices for the first time. Fully immersing myself.
And this is it! All speculation will come to a close here, with the final episode. This is the last time we’ll get to watch a new episode, unless that young Raeda spin-off happens, but I’m not getting my hopes up because it’s Disney. These evening hours spent in anxious anticipation for the episode to drop, this is the last time it’ll happen for all of us. The last time I’ll obsessively check Discord to talk about the newest episode, scroll through the Recent tag to see fresh reactions.
I want to savor it, but there’s also pressure to do this perfectly, as a way to go off. I can’t help perfectly capture how I feel nor a proper retrospective. But in the end, I still want to do it. A part of me doesn’t want it to end, wants it go on forever in infinite hiatus. But another part of me just wants to get the pain and grief over with. My heart is beating hard and it’s been building up in pace since I woke up today.
I don’t know what to expect, but I gotta say I’ve loved watching it with you guys. Stuff as early as over-analyzing on the snake motifs which eventually DID pay off in String Bean, after that theory that Luz’s palisman would be a snake due to how the title card was designed! The way I compared the Boiling Isles to Mata Nui from Bionicle, even joked about King being the Titan. I remember being there in the early days when there was barely a fandom but still holding out, and boy have we grown since then!
I was asked for permission to use my posts as credit when speculating on King being THE Titan, though it turns out he was his son. I remember speculating on the Owl mural inside of the Owl House, I’ve made so many friends through TOH. I remember when Adventures in the Elements leaked early and it was a dream episode, ideal and perfect!
Speculating that there was more to Amity than meets the eye, and being right in the overanalysis! The vindication! Joking about her being a lesbian, seeing a Grom poster but not actually thinking we’d get a Grom episode. And then we did. Thinking we were getting our hopes up with Amity being a lesbian with a crush on Luz, and then the explosion of emotion as our hearts beat, when the note unfurled.
I remember playing that godforsaken Witch’s Apprentice app just for more content, and then seeing Rebecca Rose analyze the artifacts, with me realizing they provided hints to upcoming episodes! Man, seeing Rebecca go from an early fan who helped start it off, someone I was glad to see provide presence at the beginning, all the way to a full-on crew member! Wonderful.
Belos was known as Bellows due to a typo in the captions. Speculating on Lilith and Kikimora, who cursed Eda. Being blindsided by the climax of Season 1, and this mysterious Owl-masked figure besides Belos, because I had no clue who this was and who he’d turn out to be, no idea! No idea he and Willow would be a thing, that Belos had a brother he killed and repeatedly cloned in an attempt to get him back!
This show has broken my heart, revived me, brought life, and so forth. Season 1 was truly wild, and then the year-long hiatus for Season 2, the Reddit AMA and stream… Getting Alador and Odalia’s names early, it was lovely! The S2 intro sneak peek, in progress. Waking up to get an entire trailer! Being caught off-guard with how much the animation improved, even as I had to stay quiet for like two weeks, because the first two episodes of S2 premiered early for special guests!
Speculation on Philip Wittebane and Belos, the brothers. Seeing Luz figure out glyph combos. Hunter and Flapjack, King and Eda’s stories, as the designs updated. New palismen. The heartbreak of the show being shortened, the anger and rage. The vindication on Creepy Luz just being a scared kid who wants love and means well.
And then the next hiatus… Season 2B, the end of a proper season as everything came to another climax. We got the truth on Belos, the story coming to a close in anticipation of the Day of Unity. The Season 3 leaks, especially with the titles, and the way they came together to tell us, Thanks For Watching. Like it wasn’t ideal but the audience worked with it, the crew made it work, and the fans stuck through regardless. The crew put themselves out there in this work and we reciprocated and understood.
Just as Luz wanted and needed so badly. We had S3 and the first look at a special, depressed Luz. The sneak peek. The revelation on just how alike Luz and Camila are. And then the hype towards For the Future… When the Collector really got to shine and show us a new side that completed their character. And finally, after all of the anticipation…
The episode finished production. The finale is done, just for us to watch. The crew is celebrating, saying their final goodbyes. And my heart and gut are feeling sick, aching with grief. I don’t want it to end, but it’s making me so nervous I need it to, just for the relief and release. And the finale inches ever-closer, the SERIES finale. The end of the end.

and she realizes she has no clue what hunters deal is. is he straight? aroace, maybe. that guy is married to his work.
shes trying to keep this pride thing a surprise so she asks him nonchalantly like “hey broooo i was just wondering. whats your sexuality. a friend wanted to know.”
and he bluescreens
“uh. i— i dont know, actually.”
he never really thought about it. hes always been too busy being attracted to them books lmao
he has to get back to her in two business days at least 😂😂😂
he basically spends those days spacing out and scaring his classmates by intensely staring at them.
hunter discovers that he generally feels the same about any gender. and he didnt really have a preference when imagining his future having a wife, husband, or partner. as long as they made him happy
and everyone was really pretty. hexside had quite a lot of cute witches and demons

its not something she can do with amity (obviously), vee or willow. plus, she trusts that hunter isnt about to go squealing to her girlfriend about her attraction to men she has no plans on pursuing
its a good bonding activity, okay. if you cant thirst over cute guys with your bestie are they really your bestie

A Lumischa prompt no one asked for.
Boscha has been hiding a crush on Luz and Amity; like Amity before her, she doesn't know how to handle her feelings, but doubles down on her mean girl attitude because that’s how she hotwired herself.
But behind the scenes, Boscha writes Pataki-esque poems and soliloquy's about her feelings. An like Pataki, they start out comedically lovey dovey...only to get sad as she vents about her maladaptive ways of dealing with them, and how she thinks she's unworthy of anyone caring about her. How even if she tries, she can't stop being who she is.
One day, Luz and Amity find two of these letters (unaddressed) and initially think it's from one another, thinking they are going through something and are concerned for eachother...until they realize they're done in Boscha's handwriting. When they try to confront her about it, rather than explain herself, Boscha just leaves wordlessly (beyond maybe “Why do you care!?”). She hopes to Titan that they don't see her crying...

Well.
The owl house is ending today.
To say this show changed my life isn’t even an exaggeration. I started watching in 2020 or 2021 right after finishing SPOP to fill the void, and I fell in love with it.
The fact that it’s a show with a queer neurodivergent protagonist. It’s a show ABOUT growing up neurodivergent. It’s a show about finding people like you who love you and accept you as you are, and most importantly, people who understand you. It’s a show that says no matter how scary the world feels, it will be ok because us weirdos have to stick together.
I see myself in Luz. I see a girl who just wants a place in the world, who wants friends, a family, anyone who can understand her. I remember what that’s like. When I started watching the show I didn’t have people like that. But I got to watch Luz find them, got to watch her find those people, and I had hope that I would find them for myself. I got to watch her struggle with guilt, but also be told that her “mistakes” are not her fault, none of it is, she’s just a kid, but that even if it was her fault it doesn’t change the fact that she’s loved by her friends and her family. I got to watch her and her mom realizing that they’re not all that different, that they both had the same hardships, that her mom wanted things to be better for her but that she accidentally hurt her by trying to put her in a box even though she loved all the things about her that were weird and different.
I got to see a world where neurodivergence was a fucking superpower.
And in another real and stupid way, The Owl House changed my life. It’s a story I don’t tell irl much, because it’s… kind of personal, and a tiny bit embarrassing, but the show’s ending, so… might as well?
When I started watching the show, I… didn’t know I was a girl yet. I identified as non-binary cause I knew I wasn’t a boy, but I hadn’t quite figured everything else out yet.
Actually, the first character who helped me figure it out was Amity. I sometimes joke that I knew I was a lesbian before I knew I was a girl. Which is true. I saw this girl be awkward in front of her crush who was also a girl. And I don’t know how to describe it exactly but I related so hard to the specific kind of relationship they were building between Amity and Luz. I latched on to Amity. She’s a character who is extremely talented at what she does through hard work, who has a lot of external pressure to succeed, but at the end of the day she’s just a silly little lesbian who wants to go on cute dates with her girlfriend and to hang out with her friends and to just be a normal awkward teenage girl. And I realized that I was the same. It took a few months, but I did realize eventually what it meant that I wanted to just be a normal awkward teenage girl. (And all of this was before the whole hinting-at-Amity-canonically-being-trans thing, which I could make a whole other post about.)
So, yeah. To say that TOH was my trans awakening isn’t exactly accurate, but it’s not entirely inaccurate either.
It might be a bit cliche, but I mean it when I say The Owl House isn’t just a show to me. It’s a love letter to kids who grew up knowing they were different. It’s a story that says that messing up is normal. It’s a show that says that you can thrive not just in spite of, but BECAUSE of neurodivergence. It’s a story about how it’s ok to just want a place to be yourself more than anything. It’s a show about how being queer is the most natural thing in the world. It’s a show about looking for the magic in the strangeness of the world and finding it. It’s a show about how all of us weirdos have to stick together.
I’m glad we’ve all stuck together for this long, as a lot of us turned from neurodivergent queer kids to neurodivergent queer adults. I hope we continue to stick together long after the story is done. Thank you Dana Terrace and all of the Owl House cast and crew for making this show.

Gus is trying to figure out what exactly is going on with Hunter. Hunter, in turn, is reluctant to tell Gus he got, ah… relived of duty as the Golden Guard. It looks like he’’s about to open up, when two scouts appear suddenly! Hunter tries to fight them off, but they overwhelm him and Gus is tied up.
The scouts actually recognize him as the Golden Guard and tells him that the Emperor sent out a search party and that he’s been worried. I figured Belos would send scouts out to search for Hunter. I don’t think his pride would let him allow one rogue grimwalker to get away.
Gus saw the abomination goop on the floor and looked like he had an idea. What are you planning with that gloop, Augustus?
Oh, now that is clever! Taking a page out of Luz’ book and drawing a glyph with your foot.
Hunter, understandably, panics when he finds out that the genocidal maniac who has tried to kill him before is now sending his army out to find him and bring him in. Once again calling back to the opening flashback, Gus teaches him the breathing technique to try and help him calm down.
Hunter is still reluctant to tell Gus what exactly happened. But he did at least admit that he ran away from the Emperor’s Coven, so we’re making progress. Baby steps.
I can understand that Hunter doesn’t want to tell Gus exactly what happened, how would he even go about that? ”Oh, you know. I found out that my uncle, the Emperor, is actually super evil and wants to kill everyone and everything and also that I’m some kind of magical construct made from wood and rocks and that he’s made multiple mes over the year and killed them all. And then he tried to kill me. So yeah, had a bit of a rough weekend. How about you?”
We cut to Willow and Amity, fighting some scouts. Amity once again underestimates Willow’s power and it ends with them ruining each others’ attacks. This results in Willow nearly getting crushed under a large bookshelf. She throws it aside and proclaims that she doesn’t want Amity’s protection, she wants her know her for who she is. Ed, Em, the Illusion teacher and Principal Bump appear, briefly overpowering the Gus’ illusion. It looks like Willow hurt or strained her arm.
I think Amity is trying to do the right thing, she has good intentions. She’s just tragically unaware of just how much Willow has changed. Which makes sense, she was not there while Willow went through all that character development and growth where she realized her true magical potential. I think there’s probably some guilt sprinkled in there as well. Amity was the one who broke off with Willow, and in the following years, bullied her, alongside others like Boscha. Amity may feel like she needs to make up for that by being there for Willow, by protecting her.

Luz and Lilith were on the couch in the living room. Luz was laying on the couch with her legs thrown across Lilith's lap while reading a pamphlet about Hexside. Lilith was leaning over the coffee table staring intently at a piece of paper that had a light glyph on it.
"Hey, Lilith listen to this," Luz said.
"I thought we were going to be doing research on the light glyph?" Lilith asked without looking up.
"I know, sorry. Now that I'll be a student at Hexside, I wanna learn all about it! I've got a new crush, and her name is Education!" Luz said. She sat up. Lilith frowned.
"I am trying to teach you," Lilith said.
"Yeah, but they go over way more magic than just constantly going over a light glyph," Luz said. Lilith frowned.
"It's the only magic that we know for sure that you can use," Lilith explained.
"I know but it is so exciting," Luz said. Lilith sighed and straighten herself on the coach.
"Seeing as we aren't going to be getting any work done," Lilith said. She then pulled out a large ancient book. Luz looked over at it in interest.
"Did you go to Hexside?" Luz asked.
"Yes," Lilith responded.
"What was it like? Luz asked. Lilith paused a moment clearly thinking.
"Interesting." Lilith finally responded.
"Good interesting or bad interesting?" Luz asked.
"Both" Lilith responded.
"What happened between you and your sister?" Luz asked. Lilith looked up.
"It's none of your business." Lilith snapped.
"Sorry I was just curious." Luz apologized.
"That doesn't matter. My life is none of your business." Lilith responded. She stood up and stormed into the basement where she will likely be for the foreseeable future.
Luz frowned and huffed. She leaned back against the coach.
"Lulu's past is a mystery just like mine," Hooty said. "Oooo, do you wanna hear mine."
"No thanks, Hooty," Luz said. "It's just, whenever I think I'm getting close to her she just shuts me out."
"It took years and years to worm myself into Lulu's heart," Hooty said.
"I don't have years," Luz exclaimed in frustration. "I have to go back home by the end of Summer Camp and I'm going to be going to Hexside with Willow and Gus and—maybe even Amity! Amity! Oh, cramity! We're supposed to meet so I can get my Azura book back!" She quickly got off the coach. "Bye Hooty."
"Bye Luz!" Hooty called out.

Eda rushed through the halls. Kiki was zero help as always. She made sure that she brushed any stray feathers off her dress, her dress was ripped and dirty. Honestly, she couldn't care less, but Belos preferred her to be somewhat presentable.
"You wished to see me, Emperor," Eda said. She knelt before him. She hated this, kneeling before the tyrant but she has no other choice.
"How has been recruiting Lilith?" Belos asked. Eda held back a flinch.
"I'm making progress..." Eda started.
"Silence!" The Emperor snapped. Eda couldn't stop the growl from leaving her throat. "I am not a patient man."
"I am aware," Eda said. "We are going to achieve it..."
"We?" Belos questioned. Eda realized that she made a mistake. "We? Let me guess, you involved your little pet."
"King is a helpful ally." Eda defended.
"It is anything but that," Belos responded. "It has been distracting you ever since you found it. If you didn't think that you could handle this you should have asked Kikimora or the Golden Guard. Those who are actually capable." Anger rose in Eda but she pushed it down, getting angry at the Emperor would accomplish little but getting her and King killed.
"He is very much capable," Eda responded.
"No that is your compassion and caring of it." Belos dismissed. "Keep it on this mission and I will do what I should have done when you brought it here 8 years ago." A chill went through Eda's entire body as dread filled her.
"Of course Emperor," Eda said. Belos made a motion dismissing her. She turned around and began to walk out of the room.
"Oh, and Edalyn," Belos said. "Continue to fail me and you will lose the reason you came to me."
A chill went through Eda. She couldn't let that happen. She'll show Belos. She will show them all.

"Lily." A six-year-old Eda whined. Lilith rolled over in her bed and looked at her younger sister.
"What, Eda?" Lilith asked.
"I can't sleep," Eda whined. Lilith sighed and pulled back the covers. Eda quickly climbed onto the bed and snuggled into her sister. Eda shivered slightly.
"What's wrong?" Lilith asked.
"There's a monster in my room," Eda said. Lilith looked at her and her eyes shined with unshed tears. The older girl tightened her arms around her younger sister.
"Don't worry, I'll protect you," Lilith said.
"Will you though?" An older Eda questioned.
"I'm so sorry. I never..." Lilith pleaded.
"But you did," Eda said. "Do you even know what happened?"
"I...I..." Lilith stuttered.
"After you left?" Eda continued to question.
"I'm sorry. I was a coward." Lilith sobbed.
"No, you were selfish." Eda snarled. "Little perfect prissy Lilith."
"LILITH"
Lilith shot awake with a gasp. She let out a series of gasps. Her heart was racing. She rubbed her eyes underneath her glasses.
She turned back to the book that she had been reading when she passed out. She looked at the blurry words before shoving the text away. It was just another dead end.
"Lilith!" Luz cried out. Lilith rubbed her forehead before going to the stairs. She sighed before walking up to them.

You cannot tell me if Amity and Luz ever got married, Amity wouldn’t change her name to Amity Noceda.
Like any obsessed fan that respects themselves, I project on the characters, and considering the shit Amity has lived for the name “Blight” the idea that she would want to drop any connection to that doesn’t surprise me.

I like to think that the Fae can die, the reason they don’t is that no psychopomp, Death Deity or afterlife wants to mess with them, so they just keep living.
I found hilarious everyone being like "You know what? fuck this, the living can deal with it I will not have them here"
Bonus points to anyone who makes a story about the poor bastard who tried to take one to some afterlife and paid the consequences.

Honestly considering Hunter has been so isolated all his life, and he basically didn’t have a chance to interact with people his age (or see a lot of anything that wasn’t related to books or whatever Belos was teaching him) I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if having feelings for Willow is something that takes him a moment ot process because 1) He never had friends before 2) He hasn’t had a crush before.
Cue to Luz (aka someone who has been a romantic all her life) and decides to explain EVERYTHING about romance to Hunter.
He ends ups very flustered and mildly traumatized.

I may be the last person to realize this but-
Luz’s little fanfic as Luzura (including a doddle of her with Amity being like ‘wow‘) was written on Amity’s diary, this means now she can open her diary and see Luz’s little drawing, including the fact that she wanted to impress Amity.
Wonder how she feels about it.

I am not sure if someone mentioned this before but, is Luz’s reaction on Reaching Out because people made her feel she should be over her dad’s dead?
I remember when I watched that episode that I related to the way Luz was behaving while talking about the death of her dad, but it wasn’t until recently that I realized why I related to that behaviour.
I am not going to go into my private life, but; did anyone (classmates, friends, maybe even a teacher) told Luz that she shouldn’t feel sad anymore?
Because the way she is reacting and how she was phrasing stuff makes me think that people either told her to not be sad about that.
And holy shit doesn’t that made really shows how fucked up things were for her back in her school.

Toh Parker Chang au
I had this vivid dream where Gus and willow were one non-binary character named Parker and now I’m really invested in this au, beyond the character.
So, first things first, them and amity broke their friendship cause illusion magic is looked down upon by her parents. One of the things I didn’t like about canon was that they made it seem like willow shouldn’t be looked down upon, because she’s actually super powerful, instead of because bullying is wrong.
Another thing I’d change was make amity less of an active bully. She’d get her posse to leave Parker alone by saying things like it’s not their fault they have no talent. She’d be distant not cruel. So Parker sees that she’s unhappy with them and doesn’t give up on their friendship.
So Parker and Luz cheat with the abomination to impress Amity. Amity gets super upset because she’s scared of what odalia would do to Parker if amity lost her top student status to them. And in the convention, she accidentally steps on kings cupcake and got caught up in accusing Luz of dragging Parker into trouble. The cheating things still happens, but amity’s scared of what her mom would think about the fuss.
(I don’t understand why amity would bully willow if she was forced to break their friendship. Nor why she burned willows memories. It spoke of ‘my parents and peers look down on you, so I’ll do the same’, but not ‘my parents threatened your chances in hexside if I spent time with you’. They could’ve gone the route of amity being embarassed about anyone knowing she was once friends with willow, accidentally causing more damage than intended, trying to fix it and realizing what a mess she’s made by keeping up an act that made her miserable. Instead amity isn’t held responsible for her actions. Her parents didn’t tell her to mock willow. I love her, but she messed up.)
Parker is more like an older Gus, with willows backstory. They still love human stuff, and have Willows parents, being blasian,
So now luz is super curious about amity and their relationship progresses mostly the same. In understanding willow, boscha decides to mess with Parker’s memories as a prank and amity unsuccessfully tried to stop her. She and luz go in Parker’s head, and she’s super nostalgic about all their time together. Inner Parker meanwhile has gotten fed up with amity, and attacks her, asking why she didn’t want to be their friend. Amity breaks down, and blurts it out and immediately clams up. Parker cools down enough for luz to fix their memories. But things aren’t solved.
In Grom, amity’s biggest fear is her mom and she doesn’t want everyone finding out and asking questions. Luz offers to swap with her just like in canon. Then she finds out luz’s biggest fear is also her mom, though not in the same way, not that she knows. She tried to help, but grom turns into odalia. Luz helps her and they do their dance thing. Amity develops her crush, later than in the show.
Wing it like witches is mostly the same. After escaping expulsion, since she no longer has to worry as much about her mother doing something to her friends, she loosens up.
Parker has the plot with the glandus kids, but the golden guard had infiltrated them. (Hunter also feels completely different from his first appearance in escaping tides. They did the cool badass who’s really an awkward nerd better with Lilith.) Everything goes the same, except hunter betrays the glandus kids, compliments Parker on their skills and tries to steal the galderstones for belos. I’m He’s Parker foiled them just like Gus did.
Then, in ASIAS, Parker is suspicious of hunter and tries to follow him and mess with his recruiting efforts. Hunter’s just impressed and kidnaps them instead and everything else goes the same. They’re somewhat concerned for hunter and become friendlier.
In labyrinth runners, Parker’s upset that Amity’s being overprotective, same as willow was. Unlike in canon, they’re not that capable of damage, so they feel inadequate and worry that she’s right. They run into hunter and are still somewhat suspicious. Luz had filled them in on what happened in latissa, and their own experiences make them think he’s just misguided, which still is dangerous. They have the same storyline Gus did, and later confront amity. They tell her that they may not be powerful in the traditional sense, but they are not someone to babysit. Amity agrees and ribs them about taking out a coven head.
Huntlow would instead be wild ranger, I guess. There’d be more banter and teasing. But now I’ve run out of steam

Of all the things that Luz had expected to come out of this evening, that wasn’t something she’d thought she would learn today...
And now she wasn’t sure how she felt about it, but somehow, she found herself lying awake at night, thinking about who the lucky person was that Amity’s fallen in love with so hard that her worst fear was getting rejected by them.
Of course, Luz comes to the most reasonable conclusion when thinking about who the crush in question might be. She has this all figured out.

So... Amity had a crush on someone, huh?
Of all the things that Luz had expected to come out of this evening, that wasn’t something she’d thought she would learn today... and that was despite the fact that the Boiling Isles had taught Luz a lot about expecting the unexpected in the little time she’d spent there so far.
It was the middle of the night, and Luz‘s mind had been wandering for hours now.
Today had been... a lot to process. Texting her mom had made her feel a bit better, but she still felt guilty about lying to her and was afraid what would happen if – when – she found out the truth.
But now, Luz was staring at the ceiling of her room in the dark, the cold night air still filling the room despite the fact that she’d closed the windows a couple of minutes ago – she’d learned by now that sleeping with an open window wasn’t a good idea on the Boiling Isles –, and her head somehow kept drifting back to that note.
Remembering Amity’s upset expression after the monster had ripped it apart still tore Luz’s heart in two.
Amity was amazing, and she didn’t deserve to be upset because of something like that. Anyone would have been lucky if she’d asked them to go to Grom with her, and whoever it was she was crushing on was the luckiest person on the Boiling Isles. Now if only Amity herself would realize that...
“So she really has a crush on someone, huh?“ It felt strange to think about that. Luz felt her heart clench in a weird way when she did. “And it has to be a pretty bad one, too, if getting rejected by that person is her worst fear.”
Out of anything Luz would have guessed her friend’s worst fears were from the – admittedly still kind of short – time she knew Amity, being afraid of getting rejected by her crush was among the ones Luz would have put the lowest on the list.
The human girl couldn’t exactly place what it was she was feeling when she thought about that, but it definitely wasn’t good, and she didn’t understand why.
Love was great, wasn’t it? And Amity was her friend. Luz wanted her to be happy. That Amity was in love was a good thing, right? That she was afraid of getting rejected didn’t make it less of a good thing. Most people were... so Luz should have been happy for her friend.
But what she was feeling right now was... the opposite of happy. She was really upset. Why in the world would she be upset? Why was she being so weird about this?
It made no sense.
Luz sunk back into her pillow and let out a deep sigh. She needed to calm her nerves, and she needed sleep. Desperately. Today had been hard, and it had really shaken her up, for various reasons. Mainly because of seeing her mom. Not just because she’d learned Amity had a crush on some- why was her mind wandering back to that again?
Why did she even thinking about that in the first place? It wasn’t like Amity’s feelings were any of Luz’s business, after all.
...still, as the young witch stared up at the ceiling, she couldn’t help but wonder who it was that her friend liked.
Amity only had a few people she actually opened up to, that she was actually herself around and that made her feel comfortable and happy. It had to be one of those, right?
This meant it couldn’t be Boscha or Skara or any of their other friends, since Amity had made it pretty clear recently how much she actually disliked hanging out with Boscha and her posse.
So who else could it be? Maybe someone from the library?
No. Luz had only seen Amity hang out there with the twins and the kids she always read to – her reading to them and doing voices would never stop being adorable to Luz –, and obviously it couldn’t be them. Luz hadn’t seen anyone else around that had in any way interacted with Amity and was even close to their age, and she was pretty sure Amity would have mentioned whoever they were if she did have someone she usually hung out with at the library.
With that excluded, the only person left was...
"¡Dios mío!" Luz gasped. “I can’t believe it. No wonder she was so worried about being rejected!” The answer was so obvious now that she thought about it. How had she missed this until now? “Amity’s in love with Willow!”
In the light of this discovery, everything she’d seen earlier suddenly made a whole lot more sense to Luz.
The two of them had only become friends again recently. ...were they even friends? The human girl wasn’t entirely sure. Willow had said what Amity had done was a start, and they did seem to be getting more comfortable around each other again – all things considered, the rest of Grom had been very fun, and they’d all hung out as friends without it being uncomfortable in the slightest. So maybe they really were friends again, or at least something like that.
...but they still weren’t particularly close, so Amity being afraid of rejection made sense. And honestly, despite knowing that Willow was glad that they were reconnecting, Luz was pretty sure Willow would actually have said no. Willow liked Amity... but Luz was pretty sure that Willow wouldn’t have been willing to take a leap of faith like that this early into their newly healing friendship.
But really, all things considered, Amity’s crush on Willow should not have been that surprising to Luz. They had a history, and childhood best friends eventually falling in love was a pretty common thing, after all.
It was also one of Luz’s favorite fanfic tropes, but that was kind of beside the point.
She wasn’t sure how she was supposed to be feeling about this – they were both her friends, and they were both great, and she wanted Amity to be happy, so of course she’d be supportive and keep her fingers crossed that things would work out for her eventually, but... something about this didn’t feel quite right.
Being supportive and happy for someone wasn’t supposed to make her heart ache like this, was it? And it sure as hell wasn’t supposed to make her want to cry...
What was wrong with her?
“Pull yourself together, Luz. I know today has been a really emotional day, but crying for no reason is a bit much, don’t you think?”
A couple deep breaths helped calm her down.
“There. All better.”
Her mind drifted back to Amity and Willow immediately, and Luz started wondering how she could actually be a supportive friend when it came to this.
She started thinking about how this made the already terrible thing that Amity’s parents had done to their daughter so much worse – gosh, even thinking of them made Luz clench her fists in anger, how dare they treat Amity and Willow like that –, and Luz couldn’t help but wonder for how long Amity had known she had feelings for Willow while being unable to as much as look at her without worrying about the effect it might have... before Luz had helped them patch up their friendship.
Thinking about that hurt.
Amity’s parents were beyond terrible, and she and the twins deserved so much better.
Luz and her mother didn’t always see eye to eye, but they still loved each other.
This was a completely different level of awful.
Willow and Amity had been so close when they were younger. Luz had never had a friendship like that in her life for as long as she could remember. And then Amity’s parents had just taken that away from the two girls, leaving their daughter without any real friends and unable to tell her crush how she felt.
‘...should I try to help and set Amity and Willow up?’ Luz thought to herself, but pretty much immediately scrapped that idea again.
She shouldn’t be so nosy. She should let their friendship develop at a natural speed. Not try to rush things. Trying that might just mess their relationship up all over again.
Willow had been hurt, and she needed time to heal before she was entirely ready to let her former best friend back into her life entirely. And that was okay.
All things considered, that Amity hadn’t asked Willow out was probably for the best. It would have been too early...
‘And dancing with Amity was really nice.’
Luz’s eyes widened.
“What the- Where did that just come from?” She shook her head and sighed. “Okay Luz, it’s getting late and you’re clearly sleep-deprived, time to actually try to sleep!”
Yeah, that was it. Just sleep deprivation. Definitely.
Still, when she closed her eyes, Luz couldn’t help but think of Amity’s small, soft hands in hers and how nicely close their faces had been to each other as they had all but hovered during their moonlight dance.
The memory made her smile. A lot. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d felt this happy and comfortable around anyone. Maybe she never had.
Despite the bad things that had happened today, Luz fell asleep feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

A thing I’m noticing with The Owl House is...just how often things aren’t as bad as they seem?
The fandom was entirely ready to cancel Lilith after the Agony of a Witch reveal that she’d cursed Eda, but then the next episode it turned out she never meant for the curse to be that bad and she was genuinely sorry for it and wanted to fix it. And she turned against Emperor Belos as soon as she found out he wasn’t going to fix it.
Gwendolyn started off as an ignorant anti-vaxxer doing way more harm than good with her attempts to help, and also giving all her attention to Eda while neglecting Lilith, but within the same episode we met her, she realized she was in the wrong and quickly made a complete turnaround. Accepted Eda’s curse as a part of her and listened to her when it came to dealing with it, acknowledged that Lilith deserved more from her and started to make up for that too.
Amity’s parents were both shown to be controlling abusive buttholes in the Understanding Willow flashback, and while Odalia’s been exactly like that from what we’ve seen of her in the present, Alador turns out to be more neglectful than controlling AND turns out to be willing to try to be better.
Principal Bump kinda seems like a strict, tough disciplinarian at first, but he lets Willow switch tracks, he takes responsibility for his mistakes and starts allowing multi-tracking, he doesn’t rat out Eda and Luz to the Emperor, and the more we see of him, the more we learn how well-meaning and encouraging he is and how much he genuinely cares about all of his students. Including the ones that break rules and cause trouble, to the point that when he’s forced to expel Luz and Willow and Gus he actually cries and says “Life is just so dull without them!”
We thought for so long that there was a “Creepy Luz” taking Luz’s place back in the human world, but when we actually met her, it turned out she was a sweet, goodhearted, traumatized baby cinnamon roll that we immediately decided we’d protect with our lives.
Way back in episode 1 it seemed like Camilla was ready to send Luz to a camp for crushing individuality to make her Normal TM, but Yesterday’s Lie proved that while she wanted Luz to be able to not get in as much trouble with her weirdness and might not have fully understood all of it, she was very supportive of her and never wanted her to lose her quirks and uniqueness and otherwise was by all accounts a great mom. Plus Luz had been afraid since Enchanting Grom Fright that Camilla would be mad at her if she found out the truth of where she’d been all this time, but when she DID find out, she wasn’t as mad as she was hurt, thinking that SHE’D pushed Luz away.
The ending of that episode made it seem like Luz would be keeping what happened with Camilla (including the promise she’d made to stay with her) a secret from Eda and King and possibly everycreature else for some time, which would be angst aplenty, but in the very next episode there was a subplot about that which concluded with her telling Amity everything.
As of that same episode Raine had supposedly had their memories altered to forget about everything from Eda’s Requiem and be loyal to Belos, but then we found out they’d been faking it and were STILL secretly working against him from the inside!
Darius and Eberwolf seemed to be loyal members of the Emperor’s Coven and Darius in particular was made out to be an all-around jerk, but then we found out he was a pretty nice dude and has the potential to be a better adult guardian to Hunter than Belos, and he and Eberwolf turned out to be working with Raine!
Like. Legitimately how many times in this show has somecreature been made out to be totally evil or at least a very bad person and then turned out not to be, how many times has a situation been made to seem totally hopeless and/or a setup for a ton of ongoing angst and then turned out not to be?
I think it’s a pretty nice thing about this show actually. As dark as things can get, there’s always things like this. There’s always things that turn out to be so much better than they were first made out to be. It’s uplifting when you think about it. It’s like The Owl House goes out of its way to tell us wherever it can that things aren’t always as bad as they seem. That there can be more hope than you’d think, that people can be better than you’d think.
And. I dunno man, that kinda resonates. And I feel like that’s. Important.
