What's a non fantasy book that has inspired or informed your writing style? Any favorite passages that moved you or inspired you?
This is tough because I read a lot of fantasy and fiction... The first few books that are always on my mind are The Hunger Games trilogy, Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, and The Book Thief. A bit wide and varied, I know.
In particular I really enjoy and connect with Little Women and Pride and Prejudice because they're really books written by, about, and for women (everyone can enjoy them though obviously). Pride and Prejudice is just such a glowing example of how people have flaws but in many instances that doesn't make them bad people, and taking the time to understand others and make sure that you are understood can make you good friends and family. I'm rambling ik.
But a specific quote that struck me? Undeniably from Little Women. It hit me at just the right time in my life and it has definitely influenced my view on interpersonal relationships since (paraphrasing):
Jo: I care to be loved, I want to be loved (in reference to belatedly accepting Laurie's marriage proposal).
Ma: That is not the same as loving.
It's not like everyone will probably feel the weight behind that bit of dialogue but it means a lot to me and my people pleasing tendencies.

dear friends,
although july has yet to reach the end of its first half, it hasn’t been that kind to me as june was. this month has given me different problems — physically and mentally. no, i did not get sick. my mother just keeps complaining how “fat” i’m getting. so, yeah! an everyday problem for me. it feels so shitty, i’m sorry to anyone that has to experience this too.
i just finished Louisa Mae Alcott’s “Little Women” and i am currently reading Dante’s “Inferno” which i am very much enjoying. ‘though i have to watch explanations in certain cantos, but i am an 18 year old girl, please spare me. Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women” is one of my comfort films and i will forever love her for all her films. i have so many books i want to read before classes start!
classes start in the second week of august, i think. as excited as i am, i am also anxious of many things. one of them is the decision of what college course i want to take. there are many courses i considered. too many i ended up with nothing. the world is cruel to let a 17/18 year old decide their career path that will affect their entire lives! i’m still a 12th grader when classes open despite being 18 because i started late. no matter how anxious i get before school, the thought of buying stationery subdues that awful feeling.
anyway, i will start posting journal entries here because, i don’t know, i just want to. in a world and time of digital life, why not?

after araw na yun, balik kami sa normal at going stronger than before, oo mahirap nung una simulà nagbalikan pero hindi kami bumitaw agad at nagtiwala kami sa isa'tisa, anyway nandito ako sa restaurant kasi makikita kami ni ernie at magpabonding rin kami, habang na hihintay ko siya nababasà ako ng Law's Lovers sa wattpad, after ilan minutes dumating si Erick

"Strabreigh (pronounced kind of like strawberry), Breyeone (pronounced Bryony), Candida (like thrush?), Emma-Louisa-Mae (all very cute but this was her legal triple-barrelled first name, there were still middle names too), Baseille (pronounced Basil - but like Bah-sil not Bay-sil), And my personal favourite: Ellie. Which is fine on its own, but when we saw her documents we realised this was short for Elliffent, and I think that’s magical."
