notes on the magical realm in the Boy and the Heron. For all intents and purposes the Wizard had in creating a world free of conflict and harm, his project was doomed from the start. Already the construction of his tower injured and killed many construction workers. He had not forseen the needs of the Pelicans, not created a real sustainable ecosystem. The usually small parakeets turn large and menacing, obsessed with consumption all time when their revered past is actually just being a simple bird flying around. The realm turned the birds towards actions and to creatures they're not supposed to be. The housekeepers know that they can't hear the calls from the magic in the tower (as states by Kiriko), no invitation for them although Kiriko maintains the Warawara ecosystem. If the housekeepers talk about the magic tower, they only have spooky stories to tell.
There is so much violence in sustaining it. Himi saves the Warawara yet the fire to shoo away the pelicans burns Warawaras as casualty too. Himi's fire doesn't solve the initial problem to actually feed the pelicans or to deradicalize the parakeets, it only burns away the worst symptoms. Mahito doesn't want to be in that realm, either. As much as he misses his mother, he's very much aware that the heron taunts him with false promises. It takes Natsuko dissapearing for him to follow the wizard's request. As beautiful as well as fantastical the magical realm is, Mahito and the viewer spend a lot of time in the real world. A lot of things are awful for Mahito. His dad waiting barely a year and a half before getting the little sister of his late wife's pregnant, his father not taking care of Mahito's grief and anger but throwing money at the school, Mahito having trouble fitting in at school, his classmates bullying him. The war is ever present with Mahito's own father building air planes for war fare, the domestic workers bemoaning food and supply shortage, state officials carry around nationalist symbols. Mahito's mundane world is not in a good state, he isn't happy there. However him building a bow, the meticulous process to build it comes with an animated attention of crafting, all for the purpose of Mahito getting rid of the animal mocking his mother. Mahito does slowly continue to live on: Mustering up slowly a connection to Natsuko, eating with the housekeepers, the funny exchange with Kiriko, crafting his bow. And interestingly, he has a cathatic moment before he enters the magic realm. Mahito suppreses a lot of anger and rather self harms himself before bursting out at someone. None really talks about his loss. However, when reading "how do you live" which his mother chose for him with a personal message, that makes him able to cry and grief for her when he's awake. Maybe the mundane world isn't filled with Warawas but it has to be said that the animation isn't any less expressive with movements or facial expressions, the landscapes are lush, the meals peaceful, the housekeepers lively, funny, and friendly, Natusko's residence is already a bit fantastical in it's size, annexes of different achitecture. Even in the world in it's worst periods, the life and environment around Mahito is still very beautiful. Not fantastically magical. Nonetheless captivatingly depcited by the animators. By looks it's visually as inviting as the magic realm. And the magic realm is dangerous and unsettling enough for Mahito has no further desire to remain it.
That's not to say that the magic realm is a failed attempt at good creation and only evil, but it's magic came at a high cost. It's fantastical, gorgeous, full of great scenery, pretty architecture but it's not sustainable for an actual, fulfilled life for thhose put in it. It's only sustainable for it's creator.

Gentlemen.....☺️ A short view🔭 back to the past👈🏻. C 👏 S 👏 LEWIS 👏 WAS 👏 NOT 👏 MISOGYNISTIC
IM SO SICK OF THIS TAKE
“But he said girls shouldn’t fight in battles—" No, actually. What he said was “Battles are ugly when women fight.” Which literally translates to “in a war where women are required to fight to help win it, it means the war itself is really bad.” And this literally just means that the war has gotten so bad that women have to fight, not that women shouldn’t fight. Just that they shouldn’t be forced to. Anyway, remember Lucy?? Lucy who rode to battle in The Horse and His Boy?? Lucy who fought as an archer?? “But Susan didn’t—" Yeah. Because she didn’t want to. No one was forcing her not to fight. She had free will to fight or to not fight, and she chose not to because she didn’t want to, not because a man made her stay home.
“He punished Susan for growing up—" S i g h. This is the one I see the most often. “He did Susan dirty” “he made her suffer because she liked lipstick” “etc etc blah blah blah” First of all Narnia is a children’s book series. For CS Lewis to delve into why Susan forgot Narnia, talk about her dealing with the death of her entire family, discuss her grief, and write about her eventual return to Narnia (more on that in a second), it would’ve made for a pretty dark and heavy children’s book, and Lewis said that he didn’t think that was something he wanted to write. But he also encouraged people to finish Susan’s story themselves, and said she might eventually make her own way back to Narnia. Not only this, but Susan’s name means lily, and the waters around Aslan’s country are covered in lilies. Coincidence? I think not. I think it symbolizes she was going to go back. (Especially considering I think Lewis was very careful in choosing each of the Pevensie’s names, since they all relate to their character).
Also, Lewis did not condemn Susan simply for growing up and liking makeup and clothing and boys. If so why would he have written about Aravis and Shasta/Cor, or Caspian and Liliandil? Why would he have written about Susan and Lucy being beautiful and having many suitors? So no, he wasn’t condemning her for that, and in fact he wasn’t condemning her at all. It’s extremely probable that her family’s death would have brought Susan back to her senses. Because here’s the thing: she forgot. She threw herself so much into the world and approval and convinced herself that her life as a queen and her acquaintance with Aslan was all a silly game they played as children, that it wasn’t real. But, she very well could remember again, and I 1000% believe she did.
“All his female characters were weak and did nothing—" My friend. Lucy Pevensie was a female. She discovered Narnia. It was because of her. Her siblings would never have found it without her. Lucy is one of THE most important characters in the entire series. And her title? The Valiant. Lucy’s very title as queen denoted her bravery and fortitude without one even knowing her. As for Susan, she was not any weaker for being “The Gentle.” I would say gentleness is honestly one of the strongest traits a person can have, because it takes a lot to live and be gentle. Also remember Aravis? A major character in The Horse and His Boy and future wife of Shasta, Aravis literally nearly killed herself to escape an arranged marriage. She was not someone to be dictated to; she made her own choices and escaped rather than submitting. And in the end, she’s still fiery, just a little more humble and with less of a chip on her shoulder. Then there’s Polly, who is the more logical person in The Magician’s Nephew and tries to stop Digory from ringing the bell that wakes the White Witch. A boy causes her to awaken, not a girl. It was Digory’s fault she woke up, not Polly’s!!
Also, Peter and Edmund do not ignore their sisters because they’re girls. They listen to what they have to say and speak to them as equals. They don’t forbid them from fighting; Susan chooses not to, but Lucy goes straight into the heart of the battle with them! So don’t even say Lewis made his female characters weak. They were the backbone of much of the series and without them much of the plot would never have happened!!
So don’t you ever say to me that CS Lewis was misogynistic because it’s the furthest thing from the truth

nico rosberg genuinely deserved better at mercedes. why?
who had mercedes first win since their return? nico rosberg
out of the 54 wins mercedes had in the hamilton rosberg era, nico won 41% of them (22 races)
out of the 63 pole positions mercedes earned in this era, nico earned 46% of them (29 pole positions)
nico is still FIFTH on the rankings of most consecutive victories with 7 (mexico 2015 - russia 2016)
nico quite often beat michael schumacher in equal machinery (yes, i know its not prime schumacher, but c'mon , its still schumacher)
but, who was mercedes tailoring the car towards? schumacher. yet who won the only grand prix they won before lewis got there? nico . rosberg .
who did the team tailor the car to when lewis arrived? lewis. who had the first victory in that car? nico . rosberg .
nico did everything expected of being the number 2 driver that they FORCED him to be
then, he went against his OWN team
his OWN friend
showed the WORLD he didn't have to be a 2nd driver
this is a massive what if
but.. what if they'd actually trusted nico in that no.1 driver position?
what if he wasn't left to be following lewis and michael?
maybe I'm delusional, but nico was a damn good driver
underrated in his technical outlook
nico . rosberg . deserved . better .

Reading The Four Loves by C.S. Lewis (and loving it so far), when--
"But the nature-lovers whom I have in mind are not very much concerned with individual beautiful objects of that sort. The man who is distracts them. An enthusiastic botanist is for them a dreadful companion on a ramble. He is always stopping to draw their attention to particulars."
Is this from personal experience. Is. Is he talking about Tolkien.

if there is one thing I really want to thank Chris Chibnall for it is the companion support group
seriously, if the BBC wants to film a series of short webisodes featuring whichever former companions that are willing to come back,I would happily watch all of them

This is Madness
Lewis Hamilton to Ferrari is huge. Few things;
First, poor Carlos, having to announce his own departure is brutal.
Second, if Toto really only did find out yesterday, why? Was Lewis afraid he would change his mind? Guilt? Is the W15 a disaster?
Third, Ferrari was the only other option. There was very little chance he would wind up at Redbull. Max is first driver, Christian Horner has admitted to not seeing a future with him.
Fourth, BONO?! He signed an extension contract. So the question is does he have an out clause as well? Will Lewis buy him out? Can he? Will Bono even choose Lewis?
Fifth, Team Loyalty is a big deal in modern F1, but that's the key, it's modern. F1 drivers used to change teams more frequently. We've seen it even now. Alonso has been on six teams total, with separate stints at different times for Renault and McLaren. Kimi drove for five teams. Seb drove for five teams. Checo, five, and so on. Hamilton's stint with Mercedes is unprecedented. 17 years total. Not something to scoff at, but unprecedented. It shouldn't be treated as some ultimate betrayal. He was the exception to the rule.
Sixth, I think Lewis implicitly trusts Fred Vasseur. Do I? No. Do I think that the rumors going around about poaching Red Bull staff and the fact that we don't know about Bono or Andrew could mean that Lewis's side of the garage is stacked exactly how he wants it.
Seventh, Charles is not going to be second driver, not really. Yes, you don't bring a driver like Lewis in to make him second fiddle, but I think that the hope is that Charles will learn what he's been missing, and I love Charles but there are definitely moments that demonstrated room for growth. Lewis has always talked about how much the sport has changed, and even though it is his complaints that make headlines, his positive enforcement of some of these changes is a good attitude to bring. Charles is the 'Il Predestinato' they just want to make sure that he's the best version of it they can get.
Eighth, The Mercedes garage is going to spin this season. Their PR team is going to work like never before. They're going to spin the narrative to George, they're going to isolate Lewis. He can't be in the future development meetings anymore, he's the competition. His colleagues of a decade can no longer trust him and that is sure to be lonely. They're not going to let that be the story. I think we might even be seeing some of it already. The question as to whether or not Toto knew in advance, coming out against the fact that allegedly Sainz and LeClerc have known for at least a couple weeks, is interesting and I'm intrigued at the level of truth.
Ninth, Whether you like Lewis or not, there were moments last season that the team shafted him. Prioritizing his teammate when he was in a better position, abandoning him on podium, etc. Lewis was so supportive of Susie and Toto, George didn't even bother to do anything other than repost the official statement. Lewis was Jack's hero, now all of a sudden, George is the one on vacations, and teaching him carting. The relationship has been slowly fracturing since Abu Dhabi 2021. Whether or not Lewis leaves on a good note at the end of the season will depend on if Mercedes will even give him the time of day. This could very well be Daniel Ricciardo at McLaren.
Finally, I don't think Lewis Hamilton has ever been the type to pull the rug out from someone without cause. He's always been a huge target in the F1 community and I think he's been ready for a change for a while. It's hard to make a change, especially when you're leaving something that once treated you so well. If it is true that he gave Mercedes no proper warning then hopefully he apologizes and explains. We're not entitled to know, but they are.

real quick: Thinking how close Nanami and Saionji are to each other. Not only do they know each other since childhood but they're both thematically close in theme. Both try to be close to Touga who they genuinely love; Nanami in familiar terms, in Saionji's case a genuine desire for friendship if not even romantic love. But since Touga perfectly replicates the motions Akio taught him, any kind of affection is denied in a patriarchal system. Like everything, the question is always, who has power over whom? Between men the only affection that allows proximity is rivalry/competition and up the other (Saionji), between men and women the only proximity is sexual (Touga ruining the relationship towards his little sister by assaulting her). Saionji mentions how being close to someone while enduring abuse is still good enough, and maybe that's a hidden form of love, in the same episode Nanami replicates her abuse on Tsuwabuki. He basically comments on her doing so. Also, also, also, what I find very curious is that both are the first ones to actually figure out the falsity of the system they live in. Saionji's action betray the system for what it is: Boundless power over women no matter if it's in an gallant or overt way, in Episode 1 he already mentions how the Phantom castle is just a trick, and actually he only cares to somehow be close to Touga but he's only allowed to do so by hurting others. (In all honesty, he does indulge in that action...) Nanami is one of the first one's figuring out what's actually going on between Anthy and Akio, and she realizes in which direction her environment, and her own brother tries to push her into.
My take is that both are the most removed from actually wanting to seek either a prince or princess role but Touga's word and teaching pushes and models them into the only boxes available in Ohtori academy.

Miss Pevensie, they say, can you identify these bodies for us? And you try, gentlest sibling, you try your best. But the tears are thick in your throat and the grief is bitter on your tongue, and when you shut your eyes you see fire and steel, twisting together and crushing the breath from their bodies.
You look at your father, and mother, and cousin, still and silent on their backs, bruised and bloodied and unsmiling, and their faces are anything but familiar. Were their eyes open you would be looking into the face of a stranger. You press your hand over your mouth, and you do not cry, and you tell them what they want to know. These are my parents, you hear yourself say. This is my cousin. They nod, they thank you, they direct you forward. More, more, more corpses to identify. More losses to count.
You look at your eldest brother, golden blond hair spread across his forehead, thick like the mane of a lion. There is gravel in his skin and soot on his cheeks and his face is pale, hands folded over his chest and blood threaded into his yellow sweater. Red against gold. For a moment the combination brushes your brain, touches a distant memory of battle and clashing swords, but you blink and it is gone. This is my brother Peter, you say, in a voice choked with grief. The sky looks black outside the window, and your brother’s arm still feels warm when you touch it a final time.
You look to your younger brother, dark hair tousled, blood leaking between his lips. His skin is frost pale, like snow, so white he appears to be made of stone. Shrapnel cuts into his cheeks and sends crimson trails across his face. His hands are clenched, cap askew on hair smeared with blood. They tell you he died with his sister in his arms, body curled around her in a vain attempt to keep her safe. You stare at him with a lump in your throat, and for a moment you seem to see him, silver crown upon his head, smiling with quiet gentleness. It fades, and you whisper, This is my brother Edmund. The tree outside the window seems to wilt a little as you speak. Your brother’s cheek is like ice beneath your fingertips.
You look last at your sister. She is peaceful, lips lifted in a smile, hair tangled beneath her head and shoulders. She grips something in one hand— a tiny wooden carving. A lion. Your throat clenches to see it, but you do not know why. Her skin is warm, like sunlight, but there is such coldness in her face. Such emptiness. Blood smears her sky blue dress, and you weep to see it. Blood does not belong on your baby sister. For a moment the red makes you remember her, dancing wild by a fire with berry juice smeared on her hands and mouth, but surely not. Surely such a thing never happened. This is my sister Lucy, you murmur, and are able to say no more. For a moment it seems as if a mist touches the window, and your sister’s skin is hot against your palms.
You turn away, raven-dark hair falling over your cheek, and stare out the window with tears burning your throat. There is no sun, and you think that perhaps there will never be sun again. It has been taken away forever.
(For a moment you seem to hear a voice, deep, gentle, loving. To the radiant southern sun. For a moment you feel the weight of a crown in your hair. Perhaps you are losing your sanity, bit by bit. Perhaps it was shattered the moment you heard the news).
They asked you to identify the bodies, and you did, because they are your family. They were your family. You loved each and every one of them. You loved your mother's soft fingers in your hair and your father's deep chuckle. You loved your older brother's fierce kindness and your little brother's quiet demeanor and your baby sister's merriment. You loved them all. And now you stare through the window at a sky that is heavy with rain and think of flames and twisted metal and the blood on your siblings' skin.
You close your eyes. For a brief moment you think you smell lilies, and salt, and Lucy is laughing and Edmund is smiling and Peter's arms are slung around their shoulders, and then they are looking at you and beckoning and there is a lion with golden eyes and the sun is rising into a damp new sky.
Your eyes open slowly, glazed over with tears that spill down your cheeks like rain.
And for a moment, just for a moment, you remember.

fuck mercedes . and f1 tbh . whats the point in mercedes doing a season finale / adu dhabi themed post just to blank rosberg ? the post had seb TWICE in it eventho he never raced for merc . BOTTAS had pictures in it , even russell wss in it twice . merc driver’s championships for vettel : 0 . merc driver’s championships for bottas : 0 . merc drivers championships for russell : 0 . fun fact btw , russell’s p8 in the championship is the worst result for a merc driver since 2012 !! ( rosberg p9 and schumacher p13 ) . but how many pics of nico, who actually won a title ???? 0 . even after lewis tried his best to make rosberg lose .
the f1 post is even more laughable, with lotus era raikkonen with rb vettel, lewis and alonso???? for some reason??? pics of vettel’s retirement, and lots of lewis . i get he won there but a fucking world championship was won there and the social media admins just do not care ??? i dont get it
