have any other ethnicity headcanons for fairy tail characters?
Fairy Tail Characters Ethnicity HCs
I don’t have as much extensive proof as I do for my Erik headcanons post but I will explain my thoughts for why I think certain ethnicities.
Natsu Dragneel : Japanese + Greek? (Because of the clothing style in his past flashback with his biological family)
Erza Scarlet : British + ? - I say British because she reminds me of Lara Croft who in her older days had reddish hair, also English history is big on knights, which Erza is. The other half I can’t tell as I don’t actually know what to think of her father Rung as. He seems like a POC though. (Maybe Mexican?)
Lucy Heartfilia : British / American - Because Lucy’s heritage as a noble it reminds me more of English nobility, but then her characteristics remind me more of american for some reason (it doesn’t help that Lucy looks a lot like Ashley Graham from the original RE4 and she’s American so I am kind of biased there)
Gray Fullbuster : Canada or Serbia (I think that’s mainly because I am making the link of cold countries though). Also if with Serbian I can see Ultear and him coming from similar places)
Gajeel Redfox : Native American (His hair and features remind me of Native Americans and I don’t know he kind of reminds me and looks like of Ratohnhake:ton / Connor from AC3) Juvia Lockser : Spanish + Russian (Spanish as the name Juvia is Spanish origin and Russian since the ushanka she wears and her clothing style in general)
Jellal Fernandes : Mixed ethnic - Mixed Arab (mainly Levantine Arab) + Latino (Brazilian), but then in my HCs he’s also part Desi too since the name Jellal is most prominent in India (And I want Erik to have a desi bro in CS). And the Arab/South asian idea came from him wearing Kohl/Surma in S1 in the anime.
Ultear Milkovich : Serbian with mixed Central Asian or Kazakh (Again cold countries but since Ultear looks Eurasian but with dark features these countries came to mind. Serbia because apparently the name Milkovich is Serbian origin)
Macbeth/Midnight :  English w/Scottish + Irish + Japanese - English/Scottish/Irish is a given since his name ‘Macbeth’ but since his aesthetic is alike to Visual Kei, I see Japanese influence. But I don’t know, I just can see Macbeth with a british accent, maybe that’s just me.
Sorano Aguria : French and Korean/Japanese (I don’t know why I have the French, it just fits me when discussing with my friend @acutemushroom. Korean/Japanese because despite having a Japanese name (her and Yukino) due to her features she gave me kind of Korean vibes for some reason)
Sawyer : English (I can’t explain other than the name. But I thought of Romanian too for some reason, so English + Romanian?)
Richard Buchanan : South African + Scottish? (My only thought for this was because Buchanan I knew it as a last name big in South Africa, and Scottish is probably because of the red hair and ruddy complexion that I know scottish people can have)
Meredy : Irish (I don’t know why, it was hard to think of anything for her)
Kinana : Desi (Since the name Kinana is an urdu name apparently - So Pakistani)
Cana Alberona : Irish + Italian (Guildarts gave me tanned Irish vibes for some reason and Alberona is I believe an Italian name)
Minerva Orland : Chinese + Latina (She wears a Cheongsam and her hair reminds me of Chinese culture but then I see Latina too) BUT, maybe she has Egyptian too and Italian since Minerva (Italian/Latin) but the blue eyeliner/eyeshadow she always has is alike to Malachite powder that was used by ancient egyptians
Laxus Dreyar : Ukrainian + Russian (He gives me eastern europe vibes and also his features) but also since he's Makarov’s grandson he’d have Russian in him
Makarov Dreyar : Russian - (I think his full name is of Russian origin but I can't be sure.) These are the HCs I have off the top of my head, hope this answers your question!

flag id: a flag with 4 stripes, which are purple, light purple, very light silver, and gold. at the left and right sides of the flag are simple tree shapes made of stacked triangles, which are halfway cut off by the flag edges. there is a dark green tree shape at the exact edge and a green tree shape emerging from behind that one, further from the edge, on each side. end id.
banner id: a 1600x200 teal banner with the words ‘please read my dni before interacting. those on my / dni may still use my terms, so do not recoin them.’ in large white text in the center. the text takes up two lines, split at the slash. end id.
sylvaencan: a neogender umbrella for terms related to enchanted forests from fantasy settings
[pt: sylvaencan: a neogender umbrella for terms related to enchanted forests from fantasy settings. end pt]
concepts potentially included under sylvaencan:
nature imbued with magic, magic that comes from nature, or any other combination of magic and nature
magical forest aesthetics/visuals
'fairy tale' creatures that are often depicted living in forests
forests as a place that heroes travel through, a place where monsters and magical dangers lurk, and/or a place where benevolent magical beings reside
forests that are made dangerous, safe, or difficult to navigate by the magic present within them
forests as a place of liminality and transformation
derived terms:
sylv: a sylvaencan person. plural is sylven.
svein: sylvaencan-in-nature (ex: sveingender)
sylvencine: having sylvaencan qualities. noun form is sylvencinity. (equivalent to masculine/masculinity, feminine/femininity, etc.)
transylvencine: transitioning towards sylvenchinity. can be shortened to transylven. (equivalent to transmasculine/transfeminine/etc.)
ensylvic: gender alignment to sylvaencan/sylvencinity
for anon! the flag uses trees to represent forests and purple, silver, and gold for magic and fantasy. the term is 'sylva' (alternate spelling of 'silva', latin for 'forest') + 'encan' (from 'enchant' but without the 'h', since it looks nicer to me).
here's the template for anyone who wants it!

DCA Info Part 18: Rosadormienti Dorm 💤🌹😘
Tumblr media
Rosadormienti (ロサドルミエンティ寮, Rosadorumienti Ryō) was founded on the Dreams (夢) of the Slumbering Princess and is inspired by the world of Sleeping Beauty. Students of this dorm excel in General Magic.
Dorm Founder: Aurora
Tumblr media
Known in-universe as the Slumbering Princess (睡眠の王女).
Dorm Crest
Tumblr media
The dorm crest features a shield like emblem with a pale gold exterior outline and lavender interior. Within the center of the interior is a crown that resembles the same one Princess Aurora wears. The top part of the emblem features three roses with the one in the center being red, the right one being green and the left one being blue. Near the bottom of the emblem, there is a banner with the dorm's name on it. There are thorny vines on the top and sides of the exterior and the upper part of the emblem's interior.
Dorm Leader: Briar Auroria
Tumblr media
Rosadormienti's current dorm leader is Briar Auroria, a student who possesses powerful magic and has fairy blood flowing through her veins.
Dorm Fairy: Willow
Tumblr media
Willow (ウィロー, U~irō) is Rosadormienti's dorm fairy and vice dorm leader. She is known for wanting to get to know people better and is shown to praise her current master. She keeps everything neat and tidy and is a busybody, looking for something to do. She makes sure everything is organized and neat, she uses magic to change the color of the tapestry in the dorm when the seasons change to match the aesthetic. You can expect that in any weather or holiday, the dorm will still look radiant.
Her current appearance is manifested through Briar's desire to have a fairy godmother to watch over her when she feels so lonely. As a child she never really had anyone to talk to as they merely converse with her because of their duty, she always wondered if a fairy godmother blessed her with gifts maybe then she would be accepted.
Dorm Living Quarters
• The exterior of the Rosadormienti dorm living quarters is made from white marble and has several spires surrounding the base of the building. In every spire, roses and ivy vines grow and latch onto the walls making it look straight out of a fairytale.
• The interior has a fireplace in the lobby that is completely made out of polished stone so no flammable objects are placed in there.
• Outside of the dorm living quarters lies a secret pathway to walk around. The forest path also has a small cave where a monster sleeps, but the monster belongs to the dorm leader so there won't be any worries. Though it is known to be gluttonous.
• There are also berry bushes and fruit trees that grow around the area. Some of the dorm tenants hold picnics there or just enjoy a nap under the shade and the students often have hanging baskets on their windowsills, to feed the birds and small animals that come by ocassionally. You can hear the sounds of wildlife almost everywhere.
• Some of the plants here are sentient and are placed at the entrance of the dorm living quarters to repel against intruders and trespassers. (Though this is mostly so that the animals don't wander around in the lobby, as lovable as the animals are, no one wants animal poop in the building).
Etymology
The dorm's name is a portmanteau of the Latin words "rosa" meaning "rose" and "dormienti" meaning "sleeping". Both reference Aurora's other aliases, with the former referencing her peasant identity "Briar Rose" and the latter being her more famous one, "Sleeping Beauty". The dorm's name is additionally derived from Latin words, referencing how Aurora's real name is Latin for the word "dawn".

Latina girl core/ Mexican fairy core/ Catholic core
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As the title of this post suggests, what I will be describing is more of a trending aesthetic sensibility than a clearly identifiable hashtag such as #cottagecore or #darkacademia. I noticed the influence of Latin American Catholicism first in fashion in brands such as Mirror Palais and Willy Chavaria: both designers are latino and their Spring/Summer 2023 show took place in a Catholic church. On TikTok, the stylings associated with the above aesthetics often include long ruffled low-rise skirts paired with dainty crop tops, rosaries on neck or waist, white, cotton, two-piece maxi skirt ensembles, gold jewelry (particularly hoop earrings), and scarves and flowers as hair accessories. The visuals include catholic churches, crosses as wall decoration, white lace, warm-tones, and hair ribbons. Evidence for consolidating the tree aesthetics is the fact that these visuals appear when searching for either, hence if there is little to no aesthetic distinction between aesthetics what makes them different? I say not much. I was expecting to find a lot of controversy and accusations of cultural appropriation under the #latinacore and #mexicanfairycore, however most of the people who used them were latina. Most of the accusations of appropriation were made by non-latina white people under #catholicore. Oh the irony of catholics being angry about cultural appropriation when it's been the church’s favorite conversion tactic for centuries. I find the catholic angle of the aestheticization of latinamerican imagery very interesting since TikToks hashtagged #catholiccore use latinamerican cultural catholicism instead of a European catholicism. For example, in addition to Selmya Hayek and Danelia Garza, another ubiquitous latina in the aesthetic is the Virgin of Guadalupe. According to a legend written in Nahuatl, the image of the Virgin Mary appeared in 1531 to a Mexican man named Juan Diego and spoke to him in Nahuatl. The legend helped popularize catholicism amongst a resistant ethnically Aztec and Mayan Mexican population. I believe that Mexican catholicism is so aesthetically appealing because it is a mixture of indigenous and European catholic influences, hence it has the grandeur gothic European churches and the rich colors of Mexican life such as bright marigolds and painted skulls. Additionally, Gen Z is the least religious generation yet, and the visuals of Mexican catholicism offer the visual splendor of religion without the conservatism and shame.

The unmade PUSS IN BOOTS sequel...
Tumblr media
In an alternate timeline, the 2nd PUSS IN BOOTS movie would've been released during the holiday season of 2018... It would've been a significantly different movie, too.
It would not have been directed by Joel Crawford, but rather Chris Miller, who directed the first PUSS IN BOOTS movie, and SHREK THE THIRD as well. He's not *that* Chris Miller of the Phil Lord-Chris Miller duo, but a long-time DreamWorks Animation veteran whose work goes all the way back to their debut feature ANTZ.
The title was PUSS IN BOOTS: NINE LIVES & 40 THIEVES.
It had, you may have guessed it, a 1001 Arabian Nights setting.
The concept art for this picture suggested something pretty damn cool. I absolutely love PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH, in fact it is my favorite film in the entire SHREK franchise and just a new favorite movie of mine, period.
But... I'm not gonna lie, I would really love to see what *this* movie would've been like. I'm sure it would've had a tone and directing style similar to that of the first PUSS IN BOOTS, and the visual style for it would've been about the same: Much more hyper-detailed with ornate textures everywhere (look at Puss' sword in that movie and the other SHREKs, and look at his much simplified sword in THE LAST WISH), no framerate fluctuations, etc.
The SHREK series had often covered European fairy tales, and the first PUSS IN BOOTS movie married such fairy tales like Jack and the Beanstalk, and the Golden Goose, to a more old-school adventure genre: Think Zorro, Three Musketeers, etc. Threw in spaghetti westerns for good measure. It was a sandier side of the SHREK world, deserts, and Spanish and Latin American-inspired towns. THE LAST WISH retains all of that, the magical "Dark Forest" being not too far removed from the European fairy tale aesthetic. That whole storybook-inspired look they were going for put it firmly in the European fairy tale, I feel. Again, best of both worlds... But there's other worlds, right?
NINE LIVES & 40 THIEVES would've taken us more East, and I'd really love to see that in the fairy tale universe of SHREK. Who's to say they can't... take that idea off the shelf again? After all, THE LAST WISH ends with a direct lead-in to a fifth SHREK movie. Perhaps SHREK 5 can incorporate the Arabian Nights setting? Or a third PUSS IN BOOTS movie where we only follow "Team Friendship" on a new adventure?
About that... Very few Western animated movies spawn ongoing spin-off feature film series. DESPICABLE ME scored with the MINIONS movie in 2015, and that got an equally ginormous sequel this past summer. That was the inverse of LIGHTYEAR to the TOY STORY franchise, LIGHTYEAR could've been a big hit and could've spawned more space adventures with the human/actual space ranger Buzz... But alas, no cigar. (I'm honestly bummed about that, I was ready for more!) THE LEGO MOVIE tried to do this, but I feel Warner Bros. made the mistake of having the studio make two spin-off movies - unrelated to one another, LEGO BATMAN and LEGO NINJAGO - *before* THE LEGO MOVIE 2 proper. Maybe if LEGO MOVIE 2 opened in 2017 as originally planned, with BATMAN and NINJAGO afterwards, we could've had plenty of different theatrical LEGO stories to choose from. DreamWorks' own MADAGASCAR franchise couldn't have a side series of PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR movies, the first one - released back in 2014 - was deemed a box office disappointment. Its "flopping" actually lead to a big restructuring month at DreamWorks, which took NINE LIVES & 40 THIEVES off their schedule...
It was very possible that the movie was no more, much like other DreamWorks pictures that got the axe at the time: BOLLYWOOD SUPERSTAR MONKEY, B.O.O.: BUREAU OF OTHERWORLDLY OPERATIONS, etc. Thankfully, PUSS Dos remained in limbo rather than being outright cancelled.
But NINE LIVES & 40 THIEVES didn't make it, we got THE LAST WISH instead.
But now... THE LAST WISH has been a leggy box office success, a record-breaking one at that, too. It's actually the first post-1999 wide-release animated movie since THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE to make more than 10x its opening weekend gross... EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE came out in 2000... So that makes **two**, **two** animated movies released in the domestic market since 1999 that scored 10x their opening weekend grosses... WOW!
So yes, I'd imagine the PUSS IN BOOTS train won't be stopping. I think it's a strong possibility that we get *both* new SHREK sequels *and* new PUSS IN BOOTS sequels. Puss showed with both movies that he can more than hold his own and have his own long-form adventures w/ Kitty Softpaws and Perrito. The original made over $500m worldwide back in 2011/12, and was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars much like this film, which looks to finish up with over $450m worldwide. Hey, is it possible somebody else gets a new movie, too? I feel there's a lot of ground to cover in Shrek's fairy tale world that goes beyond Shrek's swamp, Far Far Away, San Ricardo, Del Mar, the lands inbetween, etc.... A magic carpet that's reminiscent of the one in most ALADDIN interpretations appears in THE LAST WISH as part of Big Jack Horner's collection, so maybe that Arabian Nights-style world is still out there and might be featured in a future SHREK/PUSS IN BOOTS movie?
I'd love to see that, honestly. Since the world of SHREK is back in business, I say go explore and expand that world!

Sleeping Beauty Spring: Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child – Sleeping Beauty" (1995 animated series episode)
Tumblr media
Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child was like an animated musical counterpart to Shelley Duvall's Faerie Tale Theatre for children of the '90s. Each episode, narrated by Robert Guillaume, adapts a classic fairy tale or fantasy story with a star-studded voice cast, blending irreverent humor with sincerity. But what sets this series apart from any similar series is that each story takes place in a different culture. Highlight episodes include a Chinese Little Red Riding Hood, a Caribbean Goldilocks and the Three Bears, a Native American Snow White, African versions of Jack and the Beanstalk, The Frog Prince, and Beauty and the Beast, and Latin American versions of Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella... and Sleeping Beauty.
This retelling of the tale takes place in an imaginary Latin American seaside kingdom. The dialogue is peppered with Spanish words and phrases, and the voice cast consists entirely of Latino and part-Latino celebrities: Marie Barrientos as Princess Rosita, Ricardo Montalbán as King Carlos, Lucie Arnaz as Queen Maria, Paul Rodriguez as Jesse the Jester, Jacob Vargas as Prince Luis, Carlos Mencia as his squire Poncho, Carmen Zapata as the Seventh Fairy, Vanessa Marquez as all of the other six fairies, and musical theatre/opera singer Julia Migenes as the villainous fairy Evelina.
Apart from the Latin American setting, the plot faithfully follows the traditional story. King Carlos and Queen Maria yearn for a child, comforted only by the slapstick comedy of their clumsy jester, Jesse. But at last, Princess Rosita is born. To her grand christening – a fiesta with flamenco dancing, salsa music, and a feast of arroz con pollo and ropa vieja – the king and queen invite seven good fairies, portrayed as middle aged and elderly women with tiny wings. But the hideous old fairy Evelina goes uninvited because she shut herself away in a tower long ago and is presumed dead. Of course she comes anyway, and after expressing her offense a grand musical number, she curses the princess, but the pink-clad Seventh Fairy softens her curse from death to a hundred-year sleep.
Sixteen years later, as in the Cannon Movie Tales adaptation, the whole kingdom is dressed in rags and patches because no new cloth can be made without spinning wheels. Princess Rosita knows that spinning was banned due to an old prophecy, but doesn't know what that prophecy is. When her parents go out a tour of the kingdom, Jesse the Jester promises to look after her. But he promptly knocks himself unconscious on a column, so Rosita is free to explore unknown parts of the castle. Of course she finds a tower where Evelina waits with a spinning wheel. King Carlos, Queen Maria, and Jesse are distraught when they find Rosita sleeping, but the Seventh Fairy arrives and puts the rest of the kingdom to sleep too. Over a hundred years, a dense jungle grows around the castle.
At long last, Prince Luis and his nervous squire Poncho arrive. They've heard many legends about the old castle, but finally an old man tells them the true story. When they ride into the jungle, the trees miraculously part, and soon the prince finds Rosita and kisses her, breaking the spell. A fantastico wedding is celebrated with new clothes for everyone, Evelina "goes all to pieces" with rage (her tower explodes with her inside it, leaving just a smoking ruin), and everyone else lives happily ever after.
While the animation isn't the most sophisticated, its lively, colorful, stylized aesthetic is memorable and charming. It perfectly suits the balance between humor and heart that the script offers. As in most episodes of this series, there are two featured songs, the brief "Good Fairies' Song" and Evelina's "Que Es Esto" ("A party without me? Surely you jest-o!"), both infused with the local color of the setting.
I recommend not only this episode, but the entire Happily Ever After series to anyone who enjoys seeing fairy tales told with fresh, colorful new spins, and especially to children of different ethnic groups, who will enjoy seeing themselves in the classic tales.
@ariel-seagull-wings, @thealmightyemprex, @faintingheroine, @reds-revenge, @paexgo-rosa, @comma-after-dearest, @the-blue-fairie, @themousefromfantasyland, @thatscarletflycatcher, @fairytaleslive, @autistic-prince-cinderella

Aaand another one done yay. I'm gonna miss Claude's OG look, but I really love the butterfly themed jacket I made him!
Bio below:
Age: 25
Nicknames: Pirate-fae/pirate (Hitomi, his boss' daughter), brickbrain (Ava(his friend/coworker) big bro Claude (Milo (his baby brother),Ichirou, his boss' adoptive son/nephew)
Alternate name: As per the tradition of the fae when parents are not both fairy folk (where they have their full fae name, and a combined family name), His alternate name is Claude Danau
(coming from the latin name danaus, referring to a tribe of tiger butterflies)
Family: younger brother Hayden,non-identical twin little siblings Milo and Celine, mother (NAME PENDING)
Friends: Roman (A grimmhound), Avane (Mantis fairy who works with him) Yoruga (A moth spirit)
Love interest: Caelan Araknos/Delune (his boss' oldest son)
Occupation: An artist working in the Night City parlor, ran by Jurou Araknos.
About tattoos in Mirror World; While they are mostly similar to human-world tattoos, in this world they can also have more serious applications beyond mere aesthetics; there are also special protection-spell tattoos they can create, or work as a part of exorcism rituals alongside Medic Healers to help cure magic-based illnesses. There are therefore 3 levels of certification tattoo artists have:
Level 1: Artist (basic tattoos, no magic included whatsoever, safe for any beings) Claude is currently on this level. Level 2: Mage-Artisan (Aesthetic tattoos that have harmless aesthetic magic applied, like glow, movement, sparkle, etc. Must know which magic is suited for which type of being) Ava has this qualification Level 3: Exorcist-craftsman/E.C Artist in short (Protection spells, curse diffusing, healing rituals) Their boss Jurou is on this level
Abilities:
As a member of the tiger butterfly clan and specifically the head Danau family, Claude is very skilled swordsman, able to form a blade from his fairy magic. It cannot be broken through normal means, only by having him lose his stamina
He can fly, and while he is not the fastest, Claude has an incredible stamina, able to fly for hours while carrying someone
He has very sharp senses and quite good reflexes thanks to his swordsman training. He's also physically fairly strong
Claude is naturally quite talented artist, which landed him the job in the tattoo parlor.
Personality:
Claude is pretty temperamental and easy to piss off, and he also gets flustered quite easily, especially around people he looks up to, especially those he sees as sort of fatherly figures. He tends to do this, because his father's death hit him the hardest, and part of him still misses him a lot, and he's often worried he'd be a disappointment to his father, who often pressed the point to him (and all his kids) to live like a good, honorable person.
Despite his temper, he is generally a very kindhearted and well meaning person, who is a very loyal and reliable friend, willing to help out in any way he can even if it causes him trouble later/he's unsure about it.
While his senses are sharp in the battlefield so to speak, Claude can be kind of oblivious in more everyday social situations; it took him a while to realize Caelan did in fact like him back for example.
Weaknesses:
His temper can get the better of him, landing him in unnecessary fights and arguments. Beyond that he's also not always the best at reading people and might blurt out stupid shit without thinking things through, causing awkward situations or unneeded hurt.
His self-esteem issues can sometimes get in the way, where he either acts too impulsively, or doesn't act when he should because he takes too much time thinking if his dad would approve of his action.
Fun Facts
When he uses his sword, he becomes laser focused and weirdly silent, when usually he likes to run his mouth in a fight. It kind of freaks out those who don't know about his "swordsman-mode"
Claude likes both more pattern-based tribal style tattoos, as well as more colorful, actual picture type ones.
The heart tattoo on his right shoulder has his and Caelan's initials; Ava made it for him once the two started dating properly. She also gave him the moth & moon tattoo.
The larger butterfly tattoo on his back was made by Jurou, as Claude wanted a bigger one, but didn't want to cover the one he already had on his torso.
The Faylune father was one of those eccentric, larger-than-life figures, who did absolutely love all of his kids, although his impulsivity did lead to a lot of headaches, and his high standards did give Claude especially some issues with worrying over if he's doing the right thing. (His father would absolutely be upset finding out he's unintentionally caused this with his eldest son, it was never intentional)
Claude lives in the same apartment complex as Ava, and they are just one floor from one another. Hayden lives in an university dorm and roomies with his bestie Yoruga, as he's still studying technically, unlike Claude.
Claude got his job after graduating from the artisan academy he studied tattooing in through Ava, who at the time already had an apprenticeship with Jurou, and figured he'd be a good fit as they needed extra pair of hands for the job.
Claude is a good tattooist, but he is not qualified for the more magical, special types yet, and is still practicing to earn his license for that.
Claude likes to pose for Caelan's paintings, though he has a tendency to fall asleep and snore kind of loudly. (Caelan finds it endearing)
The only person Claude finds scarier than Caelan's dad, is Hayden's boss/mentor Angus Belmont.
Claude's family are considered the oldest and therefore most influential family in the tiger butterfly clan. This is also why their surname is based on the general genus of tiger butterflies, rather than a specific butterfly specie name under the Danaus umbrella.
