Liu Kang liked meditating under the cherry blossom. It brought back memories.

And who is better to enjoy the memories with than an old friend? The old friend.

Kung Lao sat beside him in the lotus pose, not fully immersed in the meditation. Once in a while, he would scratch his nose or frown, soft petals tickling his face.

That was okay. Liu Kang's focus wasn't on meditation, either.

Just how amazing that was? Millenia after creating the universe, his best friend was with him again. Of course, this Kung Lao wasn't exactly his, Liu Kang always kept that in mind, but he was just as cocky, just as brave and just as loyal. His Kung Lao would have been looking in a mirror if they ever met.

His nose scrunched the same way his Kung Lao's did, and their laugh was the same, and their smile. They got mad at the same things, excited about the same things. And they both had a dependable friend by their side. The only thing Liu Kang had hoped they wouldn't share is fate.

The wind swirled around the two. A piece of paper fell into Kung Lao's open palm. He jerked and looked at it, a bright smile immediately shining on his face.

"What is it, Kung Lao?" Liu Kang tilted his head.

"A note from Raiden." Kung Lao said, unwrapping it. "You know, me and cherry blossoms are great friends. The petals carry messages to me. That's how I know everything."

The monk shrugged, as if saying: "if you don't want to believe me, then don't". But Liu Kang did. He was the one who told the blossoms about him, after all.

Kung Lao looked at the note and laughed, throwing his head back. Most curious. Liu Kang had never seen such bright, red flush cover his Kung Lao's face. Or was he simply not paying attention?

"Good news?" he asked.

"Oh, the best news," Kung Lao smirked. "I have to go. Thank you for inviting me to meditate with you."

Kung Lao stood up, dusted off and bowed, putting his hands together. Liu Kang stood up too.

"What did he say?" Liu Kang asked again, without thinking.

"That's something only I can know," Kung Lao unwrapped the paper and showed it to the Fire God. On it were a dozen symbols written in ink, none of which Liu Kang could recognize. "Me and Raiden have a secret language, and have had one since childhood. You know, so Madam Bo couldn't read it. I don't know why I'm telling you this—"

Liu Kang took the paper from his hand and gasped.

"Yes. We had that too; Bo Rai Cho wouldn't stop scolding us for it…" the smile on Liu Kang's face kept growing wider. "Incredible. But… It's not the one you and I, him and I had, is it? I can't— I can't understand it at all…"

Kung Lao took the note back.

"Of course you can't — that's the whole point! Now, I really have to go."

He started backing away slowly, impatient.

"Again, it was an honour—"

"No!" Liu Kang laughed and grabbed his shoulder. "What does it say?"

Liu Kang was smiling, but it took him a moment to realise Kung Lao wasn't.

Then it hit him.

Liu Kang's fingers were squeezing Kung Lao's arm with force Raiden has never put onto him. It was not a brotherly, playful gesture; it was a godly demand to stay in place. Liu Kang's eyes were not mischievous black sparkles; they were blinding stars plucked out of the sky. Liu Kang was eternal. Kung Lao never was.

"Lord Liu Kang," somehow, hearing this title from his lips was the worst. He was no Lord with Kung Lao. He was Liu. He was a "jerk". He was an "idiot". Never a Lord.

"You are all-seeing, of course, so no offense," Kung Lao continued, a slight smirk playing on his lips again. "But there should be secrets even you cannot know, don't you agree?"

Liu Kang nodded, smiling despite the agony this newfound truth caused him. He let go of Kung Lao. He always had to.

The warrior tipped his hat and went away. The God watched him leave. Kung Lao jumped from stone to stone like a little lamb, crossing the tiny stream that surrounded their meditation spot.

Sakura petals fell on Liu Kang's shoulders.

002. EXTRA ORDINARY

tw: head injuries, mention of medical procedures

haru was performing in a competition in a group of four. she still can't recall how exactly it happened. she was doing a turn she had done a thousand times, and the next thing she knew she was falling off the stage. when her family and friends retell the story they all talk about the sickening sound of her head hitting the floor. how it thundered over the music still playing.

there were complications. her brain had swelled, and surgery was required. her mom was horrible at recounting the events but the gist is she was put into a medically induced coma and they weren't sure if/when she would wake up. she was in it for 9 months because her mom had refused to give up.

one of the few things she remembers were instances of sort of out-of-body experiences. she could see her hospital room where her mom would be by her bedside or a nurse would be checking on her. then those out-of-body experiences continued when she was able to return home and sleep in her own bed. but they were a little different.

it often happened while she was asleep. she had never been able to lucid dream before but after looking online that's what she chalked it up to be. though when it extended past people in her vicinity she became suspicious.

NOW, she can easily put herself into a trance when she wants to astral project.

it will still happen when she is asleep, even when she doesn't want it to. although her physical body is "resting," she will feel tired when it happens during the night.

Things she can't do yet:

project for longer than three hours before she begins feeling negative effects (fatigue, migraines, unable to focus)

project while conscious

interact with physical objects while projecting

shield/protect her body while away from it

Things she can do:

plant ideas/suggestions in others' heads while in astral form through a whisper that the other can't actually hear

interact with non-corporeal beings (in astral form)

choose whether or not she wants to be seen by others in her astral form

project anywhere of her choosing

truthfully, she doesn't think much of her power. she can't imagine herself using it for some greater good or evil. so she is just doing what she wants with it and actively trying to learn more about it/ how she can control it; to what end? she doesn't know yet.

codename COSMIC was given to her by her friend with vague descriptions about space and traveling the cosmos in her astral form with metaphors that didn't make sense. haru thought it was silly and rolled her eyes any time she was called that, but it's pretty, so it grew on her. she doesn't mind being called 'cosmic', but she prefers her real name

Haru is a second-generation Korean-American. Her Korean is good but not enough to escape some criticism from her grandparents for not being fluent.

She moved to New York a few years ago to further her career in ballet. She has been dancing since she was five.

Haru lives alone in a one-bedroom apartment. Her parents will still help her financially even though she never really asked them to (but she's still gonna take it)

Her older sister is deceased. She died while Haru had been in a coma. They were very close.

She has not performed since the accident out of fear something bad will happen. So, she chose to help teach kids ballet instead.

Wanted connection - her bestie that gave her a codename. Gender doesn't matter. Close in age to Haru ~30-35.

neverland's second album a great success, everyone was happy to see them back on stage. with darker backdrops and more intricate choreography, the positive impact they had on kpop has endured.

following the timeline of their story, remi explained that this album was full of doubt and dark decisions. the title “ru. away” is full of innuendo, that tikerbells were quick to spot. an analysis of the lyrics reveals a dark message that fans have been quick to point out.

this era is considered to be the best for euni : as the girl already said, she prefers the more mature, dark and sexy concepts to the cuter ones. and she has proved her words with every stage she has carried out with her members.

during a show, the sharp eye of tinkerbells struck again. at the end of a music show, when the girls won their first music show award, some fans noticed mei was holding something in her hand : a piece of paper. many know that idols have this particular technique for exchanging numbers — which led them to believe that she was holding someone's phone number in her hand. but who? this question remains a mystery, despite numerous hypotheses.

we saw another adorable altercation between yojin and jinny : obviously, despite certain "rules" to follow, the two girls remained extremely close and sat next to each other during a ceremony, leaving aside their respective groups. anyway, they were soon joined by a small group of friends, in particular by enha's calista and kang ivy.

remi has once again proved herself worthy of her leader role : a rather complicated dance move unfortunately caused quinn to injure herself. remi rushed over to her, carried her on her back and took her backstage. when she should have returned to the stage, remi stayed with his youngest member to look after her, refusing to leave her alone. after that, the movement was replaced by something simpler and less dangerous to ensure the girls' safety.

bina's beauty hasn't gone unnoticed either — the fans pointed out that despite the girl's porcelain doll appearance, she showed firmness and a more aggressive expression, she perfectly matched the energy the girls wanted to convey on stage.

this era was the first time euni went viral on social networks because of a video of her casting a judgmental look at the men standing next to her. the twittosphere went into a frenzy shouting that euni wasn't for men — which she didn't deny once. sorry guys, euni's for women only !

at the end of the promotions, the girls filmed an emotional video in which they read letters from their families and friends, and watched a video featuring touching messages from their fans, highlighting the progress and efforts of each of them. fun fact : quinn is the one who cries the most and most easily, while mei's narcissism has never been so much in evidence on screen.

I feel like this blog is more of an "I expose myself as an idiot" platform than a drama blog. People claim they got scammed or saw others getting scammed, but it's not a scam if someone offers something in the forums and someone else accepts the offer. I've come across mentions of Ashe several times, and each time, there wasn't any negotiation shown, so there was no scam involved. If you sell at a low price, you can't blame someone for accepting that offer.

I've also noticed frequent complaints about ESP Kang/Duskull getting Rus so often. Do these people realize it's luck-based? Being active daily and focusing on it increases your chances. Even with a clicker you can click for Rus 24/7 and not get it in a few days. So, if you don't get it as often as others, either you're not trying hard enough (clicking every Pokémon they have and all their party Pokémon daily for an extended period) or you're just unlucky. (The same goes for melanistics; some get them more often, and some don't. Maybe Niet's spaghetti code is a reason for it, who knows?)

Even though it's frustrating to see the same people with Rus every day, it's unreasonable to say, "I'm glad they are banned" or something similar because they couldn't manipulate Rus to get it more often. I used a clicker for Rus and didn't get it frequently, even though I assume I had way more clicks daily than, for example, Kang (which I probably did).

Stop being jealous and use your intellect before selling something. Check the market or seek advice from others—it's not a challenging task. Additionally, if someone is new and sells an item for a low price, it's a part of the learning process. Mistakes happen, and it's an opportunity for growth and improvement.

Sorry but if a new user is selling something and a user who has been playing for a billion years and knows the ins and outs of the currency/market like the back of their hand and takes the lowball sale without bothering to correct the newbie, that's absolutely a scam and is definitely a scummy move. Jealousy and "intellect" aren't in play here when a veteran user straight up takes advantage of a brand new player and does so multiple times.

I would also like to clarify that yes this is a drama blog but folks, like yourself, are allowed to vent and complain about whoever/whatever they want in any way they want as long as it doesn't threaten anyone per the rules in the pinned post.

This scene holds a special place in my heart. Here, Seo eun gi ( played by Moon chae won) has fallen asleep waiting for her boyfriend, Kang ma ru (played by Song joong ki). Ma ru was supposed to be there by early afternoon but something comes up and the promise of a date skips his mind. By the time he reaches there, it is almost night time. He is surprised and also a little touched by Eun gi's naivete. On slightly touching her face, she wakes up with a smile and not a frown. She doesn't argue or complain as if she had been waiting with the certainty that her lover will come, no matter what. Ma ru grows worried with concern because in her, he can almost see a reflection of his younger self, the one who was foolishly in love with someone who broke his heart as well as his conviction that love can conquer everything, the one who was innocent enough to sacrifice everything for the one he loved. Love took away a lot from Ma ru , reducing him to be a shadow of his former self, while on the other hand, love brought solace and comfort to an affection- starved Eun gi. The sad beauty of this scene lies in the fact that just like Eun gi has been waiting for Ma ru, Ma ru too has been waiting to be proven wrong that his first love wasn't a wrong choice, to be given a proper explanation as to why he had to suffer the way he did for loving unconditionally.

Birthday Drama List

So my birthday is today, so to celebrate I wanted to release a list of K-Dramas with birthday scenes or are set during someone’s birthday…or the birthday was in some way pivotal/important part of the plot.

I very definitely didn’t use this list as an excuse to re-watch some of these shows lol

This is going to end up being a short list as my lists are always limited to the K-Dramas that I’ve seen so far. I may have missed some dramas that had birthday scenes that fit the criteria of this list and missed, so this may end up being a post that I return to and update as time goes on.

Doom At Your Service

“My birthday doesn’t always come. My birthday crosses over the century and leaps over destiny. So make a wish before it’s too late.” - Myul Mang (Doom)

First drama to pop into my head when making this list was this favorite of mine. ❤️ The events of this drama take place during Doom/Myul Mang’s birthday. He’s told by his mother figure/fellow god-like entity to go grant someone else’s wish on his birthday and the person whose wish he ends up deciding he wants to grant is Tak Dong Kyung because she’s wishing for/thinking the same thing as he is - for the world to end.

His birthday is a vague time frame, which seems to span most of the show (I think about the full 100 days of the contract), so you can really consider this to just be a drama about the embodiment of doom falling in love on his birthday lol

Goblin: The Great & Lonely God

Coming in next on my list is Goblin. I honestly need to rewatch this show because I don’t remember how many of the female lead’s birthdays we see in it. For this show, the female lead’s birthday is significant within the context of the show as deadly danger looms around her around certain birthday ages.

I stand in solidarity with the main female lead character, we could form a tragic birthday club.

Anyway, outside of her actual birthday, there’s a lot of lighting of candles and things to blow out so as to summon the Goblin. So, birthday vibes I guess?

Hotel Del Luna

In this drama the male lead, Chan Seong, was essentially sold by his father to the female lead (Man-wol) in order to save himself so he could continue to raise Chan Seong. Growing up, Chan Seong’s birthdays are celebrated by Man-wol by sending him evening primroses as a reminder of the promise his father had made as well as a card, this is something that is continued up to his important birthday when she meets him in person to give him a completely new and different gift than usual - the ability to see ghosts.

Extra-ordinary You

While none of the main characters in the drama celebrate any birthdays (that I remember), the male lead of the comic book they’re extras in does. Nam-jun has a big birthday bash where Dan-oh, Ha-ru and Do-hwa attempt to change the story.

Business Proposal

Within the first episode or two of this drama, the female lead (Ha-ri) celebrates her birthday. Her parents don’t really do anything special for it and the guy she has had a long-time crush on gives her tickets to a concert for a group she was only interested in because of him, telling her to go with a guy she likes.

This sets up her for using the tickets for a date with Kang Tae-moo.

There's also an episode in which Ha-ri's best friend celebrates her birthday as well.

Tale of the Nine-Tailed

This is a drama that I recently started watching and actually haven’t finished watching yet, but the show starts off with one of the female lead's birthdays, a pivotal one as her family ends up in a car crash and her parents go missing. With this entry, we have found yet another character who can join the tragic birthday club lol
