Bob's Burger's Incorrect Quotes 3
Zeke: [straightening himself out] So, I did write down a wish. [he brings out a card] I'd uh. I'd like to go on a date...with Tina.
Jimmy Jr.: [turns] You? You're terrible with girls.
Zeke: What? No. No. No. Jimmy Jr., look at this. And this. And this here. Jimmy Jr., look at all of this. [he gestures to different parts of his body and spins around] Heh. No. I'm great with girls.
[Scene flashes back to a cheap fast food joint. Zeke and a busty, blonde-haired woman are standing at a counter with buckets of chicken drumsticks.]
Zeke: We both got buckets of chicken. Wanna do it?
Blonde Woman: [shrugs] Eh, okay.
[Scene switches back to Jimmy Jr. and Zeke.]
Zeke: But you, Jimmy Junior. You are amazing with ladies. You know, classy ones. The kind that smell good, and can read. And that always have their glasses on just kind of crooked. You know? The ones that don't go for a guy like me.
[Jimmy Jr. looks at Zeke with a smug grin.]
Jimmy Jr.: Hmm, and why is that, do you think?
Zeke: C'mon, Jimmy Jr., I don't know.
Jimmy Jr.: Well, a mystery we will take to our graves then. Goodbye.
Zeke: Wait. Wait. Ah. [sigh] Okay. Look. Fine. Jimmy Junior. This never leaves this room [sigh]. You are better than me. All right? I need your help.
Jimmy Jr.: I'll do it. On one condition.
Jimmy Jr.: Say that [pushes his phone that’s recording towards Zeke] again.

12 Tina and Jimmy Jr
12- Write about your ship going somewhere new together for the first time.
YEAH BOBS BURGERS
Tina is lagging being a little. Jimmy stops to look over his shoulder. "Tina, you're falling behind, again."
“Uuuhhh, sorry.” She catches up with a little trot, clinging to the straps of her backpack. Now that they are in high school, they have a few more freedoms than their siblings. Like walking home together, for a start. Usually Zeke is with them (which Tina has learned to accept a t this point), but he’s at wrestling practice on Tuesdays. So, they’re alone. Not unusual. But it still makes her palms sweaty.
“They’ll close by the time we get there if you keep thtopping,” Jimmy jr nudges her to indicate it’s a joke, smiling, “You’re so nervouth.”
“No, well, I mean,” she’s been trying not to lie to Jimmy so much about her feelings – if he can’t take her at her sixteen year old best when her lies are just little and white like where his socks go, how is he going to handle everything else? “I just don’t think we should be doing this.”
“It wath your idea!”
“Well I changed my mind!!”
They turn the corner, and they see their destination. The new burger place in town. Meet Mick’s Meat. Dad didn’t seem impressed by the name, and Tina could only vaguely understand why. She thinks it has a fun flair to it. “But we’re so clothe!” Jimmy takes her wrist, making sure she keeps walking, “Why don’t we treat it like a thpy thing? For your dad!”
“O-okay,” Tina likes that idea. It makes her shoulders untense and she walks in pace with Jimmy, and his grip loosens when he knows she isn’t a flight risk – his fingers slide down her palm, sticking a little, before intertwining with hers. She tenses again.
“Thee if it’s any good, which it won’t be obviouthly, and maybe leave a bad review on their thite.”
“But they could lose business!” Tina’s heart races at the thought of messing with anyone’s business, mostly because she’s seen what Jimmy’s dad can do to her dad on his worst days. But then she remembers these guys are actual direct competitors with her dad. Suddenly they’re at the door, and Jimmy takes advantage of Tina’s inability to back out of situations that usually involve himself – he opens the door for her. She looks at him, then inside (where there are people and the floors are clean and the waitress looks like she’s over eighteen. Wow, where did he find these people?)
“C’mooon,” Jimmy whispers, pulling her in, “I gotcha.” he doesn’t realise just how comforting that is for her, as they’re led to a booth with leather that doesn’t stick to her legs.
“Their burger of the day ithn’t even a pun. Pathetic.” Jimmy whispers with a cackle, and Tina smiles at him. Her shoulders relax again.

Jeff Kober has thrived on playing the baddie for much of his long career. The prolific actor has almost 150 credits to his name with stops on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The X Files, Walker, Texas Ranger, The Walking Dead, New Girl, and NCIS: Los Angeles to name a few. Then there are more regular roles like Jacob Hale Jr. on Sons of Anarchy, Sgt. Dodger Winslow on China Beach, and most recently, on General Hospital where he won an Emmy for his portrayal of shady Cyrus Renault.
Next up is the pool shark thriller Break, where he takes on the role of pool hall hustler “The Hand” Jimmy. In the film, he looks to stand in the way of Eli (Daniel Weiss), the hotshot son of a former rival, from honoring his legendary dad and former rival’s legacy. Here the veteran actor talks about the project and reminisces about some of his favorite parts.
After all this time, how is it being that go-to bad guy?
Jeff Kober: I don’t know. It is interesting, but I enjoy working. What I’m trying to do these days is humanize everyone. Even if they’re not terribly nice people based on the story being told. They can’t be all bad. What’s human about that? That’s fascinating. So you’re not ever acting. You’ve built some type of world you’re living through. As a natural result of your belief system, this is what happens.
You’re the bad guy in Break. What stands out about Jimmy to you?
What I liked about him was it was such a specific world. So foreign to anything I’ve experienced, except bits here and there. I was in a carnival for a while as a younger man and that character would have fit well in the carnival. Someone lost a wallet on a ride. The carny who ran that ride and the carny who ran the ride next to it argued not about who got to turn in the wallet back to the person who lost it but who got the money that was in it. I didn’t understand those kind of people then. Now I kind of do to find my way in and what it would take for me to be like that. This is what made the role so fascinating to me.
How much of a pool player were you beforehand?
I played a lot of pool in bars as a younger man. I once was beaten I think 17 times in a row by Megan Branman, a casting director in Hollywood. So I was a moderately okay pool player. I enjoy the sport, but I am never able to play even remotely like in the movie. I got an evening of lessons. This guy just corrected a couple of things for me and suddenly a whole new world opened up for me. That was amazing.
Tumblr media
What did you make of the environment the film takes place, gritty Detroit?
We’re seeing it everywhere today. People are frightened of so many different things. They are struggling to behave in a way with respect to themselves. They may be following the fear and doing things they don’t respect. Like when Eli decides to bet all the money he was saving for his sister’s education. That’s not out of a sense of love and compassion and wanting to do the right thing. That’s out of the terror of I can’t be shown up like this. I can’t have my ego smashed like this. We all have those challenges every day. I just look at it as is this the ego working here or the truth working here and are they aware there is a difference? Those are the questions that occur to me.
How was it sharing the screen with Darren Weiss as Eli?
With Darren, he stepped up and met me. We really play in that area of wanting to beat each other in the script. I’m really proud of what he did in this.
It has been more than 35 years since China Beach hit the airwaves. How do you look back on the show today?
I know it didn’t come out to watch easily over the years when so many others came out because of the music rights that were so spread out. It was impossible to get permission from that many music companies and have it make sense to make it commercially available. I love the fact people are still moved by it. Everyone was trying to do the best they could in order to honor the women and men we were representing. That’s really special when you get to do a job like that.
A lot of times shows will get canceled without getting a formal goodbye, but China Beach was lucky enough to have one. A touching one at that.
I’m grateful we did in the end show these characters accelerated forward and what it was like to visit the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall in Washington D.C. This was very special, especially for me who have been around many Vietnam veterans. I still have Vietnam veteran friends in my life and see what they had and lost and the rebuilding process that had to occur. I really feel that China Beach was a part of opening up the consciousness of the U.S. Like, “Hey something happened here, and we’ve been ignoring it. Wake up.”
Tumblr media
These days a lot of viewers know you from the soap opera world on General Hospital. How is it to step in and out of Port Charles as Cyrus? A role that won you a Daytime Emmy Award.
It’s more like being a sprinter than a distance runner. You have to be ready to go. You have to be ready to jump in any direction because you don’t know who you’re going to be from one week to the next until you look at a script. You never get to see where that script fits into the larger fabric of the story they’re telling. It’s a hoot because it’s jumping into the unknown.
Cyrus has been through a lot. What do you make of his evolution? Where do you see this character going in the future on the show?
It started out as a short gig. Whatever happened, they decided to keep me on a little longer. So they made me the mysterious half-brother of Genie Francis’ character [Laura Spencer]. They wrote this evil criminal as someone who is broken and needs his mother’s love. I was like, “How do you play that? I guess we’ll find out.” It was so much fun to do that. Then they sent him away to prison and he found Jesus, or did he? For me, it’s always about finding what’s the most interesting and grounded and most passionate perspective this character can have in a given time. They keep you guessing on that show. What he has come around to now, and being holier than now. The last time I saw him he was saying, “I got to work on myself before I tell anyone else how to do this.” Don’t you wish more people in the world realized that?
Tumblr media
You’ve been in the shoes of a lot of characters. What are some of your favorites? For me, The Claimers leader on The Walking Dead has to be included.
Joe on The Walking Dead was fantastic because it was so rich. The people I worked with were also just fantastic. I would have done anything on that show for as long as they wanted me to.
What a way Joe went though.
It was the best death in the show up to that point I think. The last line for him was just great, “What the hell are you gonna do now sport?” Just amazing. I loved China Beach, too. The people, we’re brothers and sisters. We left a mark on all of our lives. A lot of us were really beginning our careers when we did that. It holds a place that will never be touched by anything else. I’ve had really exciting experiences. I had a run on NCIS: Los Angeles. I got to work intimately with Linda Hunt. That was otherworldly. There was an intimacy with her and strength in her work. She is like a national treasure. I can always tell how wonderful someone’s talent is when you just get in their face. They go, “Oh, someone is here.” Then they just jump in themselves. They did this.
Tumblr media
Jeff Kober and Linda Hunt (Henrietta “Hetty” Lange) in NCIS: Los Angeles (Bill Inoshita/CBS Broadcasting, Inc.)
One of my favorite turns for you was also when you were on New Girl as this curmudgeon of a landlord. During the rewatch podcast “Welcome to Our Show” the cast revealed a few years ago that Bruce Willis was almost cast as Remy. You made it your own though.
It was a hoot. I actually did a movie with Jake Johnson that is on Hulu now called Self Reliance. He wrote this character with me in mind. Then right around Christmas, I did his podcast where they give advice for people on really stupid things. We were reminiscing about the characters almost doing this threesome. I was in my underwear and cowboy boots. We shot the scene many times, and every time I would come up with a different yoga pose or something I’d be doing when they came to me like reading a book or spraying aftershave in my private areas. They give you free rein to be crazy. That was a gas.

Trick or treat!!
Ahhhhh, DT! I missed seeing you in my ask box, thank you 🥺❣️
You've already seen everything I'm about to show you now, but I'll reshare it because why not (and they involve your precious children)!
First up is a section in my "Linda is deaf" AU where Tina first gains a crush on Jimmy Jr.:
He pulled out his wallet as Jimmy Pesto called for his son. Jimmy Jr. came dashing, wearing what appeared to be a waiter's uniform. The outfit consisted of a white button-up shirt, a navy blue blazer, and midnight black pants, the materials rustling as he moved. He was even wearing dress shoes. Jimmy Pesto barked for him to take the order to the kitchen, and he felt Tina’s presence before he turned to leave, her gaze still stuck on the menu. Bob wasn’t sure why she was doing this.
“Hey, Tina.” A thick, surprising lisp slipped out as he spoke.
She paused in her reading. Bob couldn’t understand why the menu captivated her so much.
She then glanced up, noticing his presence for the first time. “Hey, Jimmy--”
All at once, her body became as stiff as a board. Her expression morphed into pure astonishment, her mouth hanging open and her eyes flicking in every crevice of his body. Then, almost as fast as they began exploring the boy’s body, they shifted back to the menu in her hands. Bob had never seen his daughter’s face turn a darker shade so fast.
She had also lost the ability to form coherent sentences, “I—uh... Oh. I’m Tina.”
He gave her a blank, unreadable stare. “I know.”
Bob could sense the internal panic emanating from Tina as her face become pinched, seeming scrunched like clay, as if she wanted to hide. She fanned herself with the menu, disregarding the icy air that was pouring from the air conditioner, causing a wave of goosebumps on everyone’s arms. Bob wanted to groan, recognizing these expressions on Tina all too well. He looked this way when he laid eyes on Linda on their first date. Part of him hadn’t stopped, at least the adoring part.
Of course, his daughter was falling for this boy, because his day needed to get more complicated.
Gene and Louise noticed this reaction from their sister, then looked at each other and shrugged. He guessed they didn’t know how to feel about this new situation, based on their loss of words.
“The order, Jimmy Jr.!” Jimmy Pesto gave his son an unceremonious shove towards the kitchen.
“Geez, dad, I was going!” Jimmy Jr. stomped the rest of the way to the kitchen, his feet pounding against the floor as he flung open the door with a loud thud.
“Earth to Tina.” Louise waved her hand in front of Tina’s face.
“Lost in Pesto Land, are you?” Gene smirked, being unable to resist teasing the lovesick girl.
And here's a very rough WIP sketch of a Tinimmy kiss, which I'm hoping to be able to finish eventually:
Tumblr media
Finally, here's an embarrassing, old Tina/J Ju sketch of the only time I've drawn in the show's actual art style (taken from a lovely BB poster):

Red of Overly Sarcastic Productions once said :"If you can imagine your Batman comforting a shared child, then congratulations, you're righting Batman. If not, you're just writing the Punisher in a funny hat". This got me wondering: could the Shadow comfort a scared child?
Could he? You forget who was there to lift young Bruce to his feet at his first brush with death (sadly far from his last).
Tumblr media
But it's an interesting question to pose still, because children were straight up not in the pulps, not in any I've read, and I can't recall any episodes of the radio show that feature them much (there's gotta be at least a few, because they had everything in that show). The most interaction I think The Shadow's ever had with children (from comics that I can discuss here, because Marshall Rogers' "Harold Goes to Washington" is way, way too much for me to go into right now, and the less I talk about some other DC comics, the better) is in the Street & Smith comics.
Tumblr media
There's Jerry from the Devil Kyoti arc, a kid who was traumatized by an encounter with the villain who Sayre's looking after and who ends up having some kind of hidden power that allows him to see The Shadow and defeat the villain. There was a blonde Jerry who showed up later in the Monstradamus arc, but he isn't a kid so much as he's diet Jimmy Olsen or a replacement for Harry, but he had weird eyesight-based powers and a familiarity with The Shadow, so I assume it's the same character.
There was also Donald Jordan - Shadow Jr, and okay, I may have to talk more about this weird little failed experiment some other time, but the basic gist of it is that The Shadow had a friend in Tibet named Harry Jordan (and someday I'm also gonna write about the weird prevalence and significance of the name "Harry" in The Shadow's mythos in and out of universe) who was murdered, leaving his son orphaned and with nowhere to go. And, I'll admit that I have a real weakness for The Shadow calling people "son", which he does a lot in this story.
Tumblr media
And as you can expect, it then turns out that the kid's also learned how to cloud minds and has basically the same powers The Shadow has in these comics, and they solve the mystery of his dad's murder together, and yeah, you can absolutely tell that they are setting up this kid to be The Shadow's Robin. Although, interestingly, they don't have The Shadow actually recruit the kid, instead it's Jordan who asks The Shadow if he can go with him and join his mission, and Cranston even states he's going to have to "earn" his way
Tumblr media
"Must I stay here, sir? It will always remind me of dad - I'd like to devote my life to your fight against evil and evil doers!
Tumblr media
Now, "Shadow Jr's" career was incredibly short-lived, it only lasted for about two other issues, and I have no idea what happened in his final appearence called "Snake Eyes" in Shadow Comics #77, I cannot find that issue anywhere and I really want to. But the one other solo story of his I've read was...well, I think it kinda illustrates why the idea of The Shadow having a Robin was doomed from the start.
Tumblr media
...Yeah. Even The Shadow at his most sanitized and family friendly is still The Shadow, and there's no room for children in his network, obviously he shouldn't and wouldn't have children be in those positions or make decisions expected from grown-ups who have already had encounters with death and danger, why would anyone do that-
Tumblr media
The only instance I can think of The Shadow interacting with a child in the pulps was during The Prince of Evil, when he has to rescue a young boy from Stark's thugs.
Cranston, dazed, tried to stagger to his feet. Before he could do so, the thug had picked up the limp figure of the boy and was darting out into the street. There was a scream of horror from pedestrians.
A heavy truck was racing at top speed along the avenue. Straight into the path of the truck, the thug threw the senseless boy!
The driver of the truck jammed on the brakes. But it was too late to halt the heavy vehicle. The broad-tired wheels rolled toward the limp head of the lad on the pavement.
An instant before it could crush out his life, Lamont Cranston dived headlong into the path of destruction. His shoulder struck the boy, rolling him toward the curb. A quick wriggle, and Cranston swerved aside from the grinding death that loomed over him.
He picked up the boy. One glance and he knew there was no time to lose. The attempted killer had leaped into a waiting sedan and had already made his escape.
The boy was all Cranston could see or think about. Brass knuckles had fractured his skull. He had suffered a concussion of the brain. A glance at his bluish lips and the fixed glaze of his staring eyes told Cranston that unless the boy was operated on immediately, he would die.
A leap, Cranston was in his car. He laid the boy gently on the seat beside him, then headed the car toward the nearest hospital. Traffic lights were ignored.
The boy was taken to an emergency operating room and a skilled surgeon went to work. When it was over, Cranston asked only one question: "Will the child live?"
"Hard to say. We'll do our best."
"Spare no expense. Put him in a private room. Engage day and night nurses."
Cranston's face was pale. He knew that he himself was indirectly responsible for the boy's attack. A supercriminal had made a prompt answer to Cranston's message over Jackson's telephone. That telephone must have been tapped. The attempt to kill the boy was a vicious warning for Lamont Cranston to mind his own business about the Harmon family. It was a follow-up of the attack on Jackson's dog.
Cranston felt a surge of hot anger. He kept it under control while he answered routine police questions. He told all he knew - which was nothing.
He had only one angry thought. He intended to drive straight to the office of David Chester. He'd get the truth out of the sleek Chester, if he had to batter him with vengeful fists!
Cranston was actually halfway to Chester's office before common sense returned to him. He realized he had lost his sense of balance. He was behaving exactly as the crooks wanted. He was playing their game, not his!
He parked, and the hot rage drained slowly from him. He stopped thinking about the limp figure of a young lad on a white operating table.
This is definitely because Tinsley writes the character differently than Gibson, but I actually cannot think of another occasion where we got to read about The Shadow actively wanting to hit someone with his fists. It's very, very rare to read about The Shadow actually getting mad in the first place in such an undignified way. And I think with this passage, you'll start to notice a pattern.
Tumblr media
The problem isn't that The Shadow cannot interact with kids or that he can't comfort them, he does it to his agents and adults he wants to help just fine, he knows how to address people in their language, or any language. The problem is, The Shadow is constantly surrounded by danger everywhere he goes, because he is The Shadow. He can be any number of things at any number of occasions, but usually, when The Shadow shows up, it's usually because people are going to die, and people are going to kill, and it's his job to address that and work the scales.
Children should not be anywhere near this, and if The Shadow's interacting with a child, it usually means that some grave danger or tragedy fell upon them, and he's here to either prevent greater tragedy or address the fall-out, and he'd be the first to agree that neither of these options should be happening at all. It doesn't mean he's not gonna do what's right and give life and limb to protect them, but, it shouldn't be up to the Boogeyman to look after them in the first place. Maybe it shouldn't be up to the Boogeyman to protect us.
Tumblr media
But then again, as I mentioned when I talked about my own reasons for liking The Shadow so much, there are many kids who would like nothing more than to have the Boogeyman by their side to protect them. There's comfort in knowing that the scariest man in the room is unconditionally there to protect you, and that is the comfort that The Shadow gives best. Not as Cranston, not under a friendly face, but as what he is.
Due to a lack of scenes from the pulps or satisfying scenes from elsewhere, I will instead be pulling one from a fan story written by Kimberly-Murphy Smith, editor and writer of The Hot Cornerm where The Shadow rescues a child who was kidnapped for blackmail. I couldn't care less that it's fanfic, and if you do, come back in 20 or so years after The Shadow's been made public domain and it's gonna be just as official as anything licensed (on my “to write about” list: how fickle the separation between “official” and “fanfic” is, and the many times it plainly didn’t exist). There’s aspects of her writing I don’t care for, but I really like this scene and I do think The Shadow’s more gentle interactions with people are necessary to getting the character.
Annabelle.
She stopped crying for a minute. "Who's there?" she said, her voice choked.
A friend. Your mommy and daddy sent me to pick you up.
"Mommy? Mommy's here?"
Sh-h-h. Annabelle felt a gloved hand gently stroking her hair. She's waiting for you at home. So, we need to hurry up and leave.
"'kay." She looked around. "Where are you?"
It's kind of hard to see me. It's dark in here, plus you've been crying so much your eyes probably hurt.
"Yeah."
Don't be afraid. I'm here to help.
"'kay."
The implicit trust of children was simply amazing at times. Adults trembled in fear of The Shadow's wrath, but children somehow seemed to understand that he was there to help them, even if they couldn't see him.
Sit up, Annabelle. I'm going to pick you up. Be very quiet.
One hand took each of her arms and guided them around a neck she could not see. "Why are you wearin' a blanket?" she asked as the fabric of his cloak brushed against her shoulders.
Sometimes I get cold at night.
"Even in the summer?"
Even in the summer. He gently stroked her cheek and wiped away her tears. Now, you need to be very quiet so those bad men in the next room don't hear us. I'll bet you're tired.
She nodded.
He rocked her on his arms, projecting a very gentle hypnotic relaxation into her with his powers as he did. You probably didn't get your nap, either. Poor thing. Lean on my shoulder and go to sleep. And when you wake up, you'll be back with Mommy and Daddy.
She yawned, then snuggled against his shoulder and went to sleep.
The Shadow sighed with relief. Now to get past the men out front. He gently pulled the pistol out of its holster under his left arm and slipped it into the belted waist of his overcoat within easy reach, then secured his grip on Annabelle and draped his cloak over her.
She clutched the edge of his cloak in her hand like a security blanket and snuggled against his shoulder again.

Maybe Zina and prompt 8?🥺
Zina, prompt 8: things you said when you were crying
Tina stared at her reflection in the mirror and smiled. Her dress wasn’t from a high end department store, (not even close) but she thought it was just right for her. It was baby blue and long, all the way down to the floor. Puffy sleeves fell off her shoulders, and there was white, floral detail across her chest.
Tina had dreamt about prom for most of her life. For a long time, she had a fantasy about she and Jimmy Jr. stepping out of a limo, walking into an extravagant venue hand-in-hand. Well, things hadn’t exactly turned out that way, but she had no complaints. Jimmy Jr. was the farthest thing from her mind as she got ready for the dance.
She didn’t have much makeup on, only a soft blush and a small bit of mascara carefully applied by her mom. As she brushed her hair, grown out to a record length of just above her shoulders, she pictured Zeke getting ready at his own house.
Her boyfriend was so cute. He had rented a tuxedo for the occasion and confessed to her how nervous it made him. He had never worn one before, and he worried about spilling a drink on it or stretching it out. It was so endearing.
Tina adjusted her glasses once more in the mirror before exiting her room. She had heard Zeke arrive a few minutes earlier, and she was anxious for them to see each other all done up.
“Zeke?” She asked, peeking her head into the hallway. “Are you there?”
The rest of her family was downstairs in the restaurant, and Tina imagined it was difficult for them to resist wandering upstairs to snoop on this moment. She’d have to thank her dad later, as she was sure it was his idea to afford she and Zeke this moment of privacy.
“Hi Tina girl!” Zeke said, approaching from the living room. When he saw Tina, his eyes grew wide.
“Oh!” He said softly, stopping in his tracks. “Tina, you—“
His face crumpled and lit up at the same time. He reached out a hand for her, and she interlocked their fingers. When she drew closer to him, she saw that his eyes had filled with tears. Gasping quietly, she placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.
“Are you…crying? Don’t cry! It’s okay! Should I change?”
Wanting to stop his tears was her first reaction. Her strong sense of empathy, the driving guide of her life, meant that she absolutely hated seeing anyone she loved crying.
“No, no.” Zeke assured her, shaking his head. “These are happy tears! Come here. Let me get a good look at you.”
Taking her hand, he spun her around in a twirl. Tina was genuinely impressed with herself, when she managed not to trip at the unexpected motion.
“Damn, girl.” Zeke said, still choked up. “You really got me! You look like an angel. I can’t wait to spin you around on that dance floor!”
Tina smiled, bringing a hand up to cup his face. She gently rubbed her thumb along his cheek, wiping a tear.
“Me either.” She said before giving him a kiss on the nose. “I’m sorry for making you cry. I didn’t mean to.”
Zeke chuckled.
“Don’t be.” He said. “It’s just…I’ve been picturin’ you in your prom dress for a while now. Long before we were dating. It…kinda feels like I’m dreaming, T-bird.”
Tina beamed. She felt loved and beautiful. Suddenly, riding to prom in Zeke’s big, red pick-up truck felt more appealing than any limo ever could. She leaned in, but she stopped to speak before she kissed him.
“I know exactly what you mean.” She admitted.

“Look, John jr., I saved you a slice of my favorite pie,” Dean grins when his five-year-old brother’s eyes grow wide. My baby boy nods eagerly, already grasping for the fork to dig it into the pie Dean places in front of him.
I smile, knowing all too well my eldest is a proud big brother who would go to hell and back for his new siblings just like he did for Sam.
“Johnny loves pie,” my baby girl quips, grinning up at Dean. She smiles, knowing the tall guy next to her is her big brother. “Now I got three big brothers – awesome,” in not two days Sofia grew close to Dean and Sam.
“Daddy, do you like pie too?” John jr. asks, earning a chuckle from Dean who looks at me, a cocky grin on his lips. “Do you?”
“I like some once in a while but, unlike Dean, I am not addicted,” nodding thoughtfully my little boy looks at the pie. A grin appears on his face and he looks me straight in the eyes.
“More pie for me and my big brother, daddy,” I laugh, even throw my head back as I haven’t had kids at my house for ages. The kids make me feel like a young man again and I forget for a moment, a douche is after my girl. “What do you like daddy?”
“That’s not for your ears, John jr.,” Y/N enters the kitchen, kisses the top of my son’s head softly as she covers his ears with her hands, Sam immediately covers my daughter’s ears, knowing Y/N will use a bad word.
“He’s more into eating something else,” I can’t hold back the groan leaving my lips at Y/N’s words. She looks at me, something dangerous in her eyes but, I can see the tension left her body. “Not that I would have complained, though.”
Shit, I feel my face heat up. I bet my sons can see I am putty in Y/N’s hands if she wants me. Before I find my voice to give her a snarky comment she turns her attention toward Sofia and John jr. and my heart swells when she switched into ‘mommy modus’.
“And how good you tasted,” I finally find my voice, and Y/N giggles at my words, missing the way I roam her body when she takes the cup of coffee Dean offers to her. “I mean, your pie.” I backpaddle as my sons look at me, pointing toward the kids.
“Dad said you want to sell your parents’ house,” Sam tries to change the topic. “Maybe my girlfriend can help you. She sold her parent's house three years ago.”
“Yeah, we all know your girl is awesome, Sammy,” Dean groans, causing me to roll my eyes. My boys are grown men, but they like to tease each other like kids. “Ruby is smart. Ruby is sexy – blah blah.”
“Son, not now. Ruby is your brother’s girlfriend, stop nagging about the girl. She is part of our family soon enough,” I need to stop my eldest, knowing he doesn’t like Ruby too much.
“Did you forget she got him addicted?” Dean bites back. His hands balled into fists he curses under his breath. “We need months to get him down from that shit and suddenly she’s a saint to everyone but me. I do not trust her one bit.”
“Dean, not that old song again. Ruby and I got addicted and-“ Sam stops in his tracks when Y/N raises one hand.
“Not in front of the kids, Sam. If you and your brother want to fight or talk about adult themes, do it when my children are not around. They went through enough due to my mistake,” she sniffs now. “I need-“ I run after her when Y/N runs out of the room, crying bitterly. “I shouldn’t have come here.”
“Y/N, you belong to me,” I cup the back of Y/N’s neck to force her to look up at me. I hate to let the dangerous mobster out, but she needs to understand – there is no way I’ll ever let her go. Not now, not ever. “You’re mine,” my lips claim hers, a bit too rough, and honestly a bit clumsily but I can’t help it. I need to feel her lips against mine.
“John,” she pants against my chapped lips, whimpers as I kiss her again to calm her a little. Fuck me, she still tastes like back then. Like strawberries, vanilla, and sin. “John.”
“Sorry, doll,” I breathe against her soft pillows. “I wanted to show more patience but having you here makes me go crazy. I know you can’t forgive me that easily, but you cannot deny you feel it too. The pull, the need to touch me,” I kiss her again, this time slow and gentle. “How about you get ready for the day and we talk later?”
“John, this isn’t a happy reunion or a second chance for love. This is me and my kids running from a violent man who tries to get me back whilst my former lover keeps me hostage at his house to protect me,” Y/N spats. I didn’t believe she will forgive me anytime soon but her words still sting. “I just want to be left alone.”
“I understand you do not trust me but,” I cup her face, not letting her look away, “you are my girl, always were mine. I don’t care about anything else but you and my kids. Trust me, I’ll make that bastard pay for hurting you.”
“I don’t want you to hurt him, John. I just,” she sniffles, tries to hide her tears from me. I always admire Y/N for being strong and stubborn, “Please, I never want to see him again. Tell him to leave me alone.”
“That I can do, doll. I promise he will never hurt you or my children again. But,” I bring Y/N into my arms, not caring she struggles against my strength, “I can’t let you go after. You’re my girl, the one I love. Even if you never let me in again, I want you in my life, Y/N.”
“John, I-“ her voice cracks, and I hold her a bit tighter, let her fist my button-up and take the slap she gives me with all her strength like a man. “You can’t just tell me what to do,” and there she is, the angry stubborn girl I loved to tame.
“You’re still my bad girl,” I muse, pecking Y/N’s forehead. “Please stay here until I handled the situation with James. He seems to be a dangerous man.”
“You are one to talk,” Y/N grins up at me, the fire I loved so much back in her eyes. “John Winchester, head of the Winchester’s empire talks about James being a dangerous man. Your dark aura was one of the things making me fall for you.”
“Oh, you naughty girl,” teasing Y/N is like a hobby to me. “I knew you loved being my hostage a bit too much, dirty girl,” I whisper the last part into her ear. “I will not let anything happen to you or the kids, promised. Benny will stay here with you.”
“John,” Y/N looks up at me with teary eyes. “I don’t think you should kill him. Maybe it’s enough to tell him to stay away from me? You can be scary as shit.” I chuckle at my girl’s words. I know that most people are afraid of me, but oddly, Y/N never was one of them.
“I promise to not kill him if it’s not necessary, Y/N,” I lie, fuck I lie shamelessly but how could I tell Y/N that the moment James laid hands on her he was a dead man. He just doesn’t know he’s dead yet. “How about you and the kids spend the day in the garden? Or do you want Benny to drive you somewhere?”
“I think I’ll just stay here,” I can see the fear return. Y/N’s eyes betray the brave face she puts on for me. “Do you have Netflix? We could watch cartoons or something.”
“I show you the TV later. If you get hungry, tell the cook what you want to eat, doll,” I smirk when Y/N tells me she’s a good cook. “Baby, you are anything but a good cook. You burned eggs, Y/N.”
“I got better,” she insists, and I kiss her again. Hungrily I invade her mouth, make her moan against me. “Hey, I didn’t mean that kind of cooking.” she scolds me playfully and I feel hope bloom in my chest. “I can make toast, pancakes, and baked a pie for the kids' birthday. Don’t underestimate my talent in the kitchen.”
“Oh-I remember your talent in the kitchen, especially the kitchen counter,” there it is, the nervous giggle. “You were such a good girl.”
“JOHN WINCHESTER,” Y/N punches my chest with her tiny fists. “Don’t say things like that with your kids around. They don’t need to know about all the dirty things you did to me.”
“…and with you,” I smirk when Y/N sighs at my words. “Promise me you’ll be still here when I come back.”
“I will stay as long as he’s out there, John. I don’t want him to get close to my children or me ever again. I am stubborn, not dumb,” I look at Y/N one last time before I decide it’s time to hunt that bastard down.
“I’ll be back in a blink, doll. Benny will help you today,” I peck Y/N’s check, let my lips linger a bit longer than needed. “No one will ever hurt you again.”
Tumblr media
“Dean, Sam, Jimmy, I want you to come with me. Benny, you’ll stay at the mansion and watch over my girl and the kids. No one will enter the house without your permission. James Milster is out there, and we need to get hold of him,” close, so fucking close to losing control I look at my eldest. Dean, the one always following my orders places one hand onto my shoulder, nodding silently.
“We will get him, Sir,” Dean looks at his brother, unsure if Sam will follow my plan or not. “Right, Sam.”
“Y/N and her children will be safe after today,” Sam gives me a curt nod. He’s the smartest and most caring man I ever had the honor to meet.
I’m not saying Dean is not a good or smart man too. My eldest is a strong-headed, strong and caring man, but Sam, Sammy is different. I don’t know how he does it but around him, people feel comfortable, even though, he’s a giant.
“I need to make sure Y/N and my children are safe. John jr. and Sofia Rose are your siblings and it’s your duty, just like mine, to protect them at all cost. That man lived long enough after he hurt my girl. He’s out of luck now,” I pat my gun, giving my men a curt nod before we leave the mansion.
Tumblr media
“Mommy, when will daddy be back?” Sofia Rose watches her brother pace around the living room. He couldn’t concentrate on the cartoons he wanted to watch, too busy to wait for John to come back. “Will he hurt James?”
“John,” I sigh, not knowing how to explain to my five-year-old son that his father will probably kill my ex-fiancé. “Your dad wants to talk to James, okay. Do you remember what I said the day we left his house?”
“That we don’t have to see him again and that daddy will protect us,” Sofia Rose steps closer to her brother, grasps his hand as she can see the worry on his features.
“Mommy, can we wait for daddy to come back? I want to see him before we go to sleep,” my daughter asks, knowing her big brother is worried about his father. “Please.”
“Of course, sweet pea. We will wait for daddy to come back,” it’s already late but I will not let fear cloud my mind. John knows how to handle any situation so I will wait for him to return and not worry.
I am a terrible liar, am I not?
Tumblr media
Look at that bastard. How dare he to call me a lousy father when I aim a fucking gun at his head.
“That’s how you want to play the game?” I smirk when I unlock my gun. “How about we play – Winchester roulette? One bullet, six chambers – your life for my girl.”
His eyes wide James starts to beg for his life and I, well I, enjoy the show. I will not kill him with that gun, but this doesn’t mean I can’t have fun before I end his life as painful as possible.
“What do you say, son? Shall I play a game with James?” Dean sits onto the chair opposite James, shrugging. He doesn’t need to say a word, I can see it in my eldest eyes; he wants to rip James apart for hurting Y/N and scaring his siblings.
“Do as you wish, Sir,” Sam is the one opening the bag I brought with me to reveal all the nice toys to torture someone who really pissed me off. “Shall we begin, dad?”
“Please, I-“ James chokes on his words, wets his pants as he begs for his life but unlike other men – I know no mercy…

Jimmy parked his car and shut off the engine, reminding himself to get up early enough to make sure the car would start so he wasn’t late for work, again. He sighed heavily as he looked at his mom’s trailer, dreading having to go in there. He wished his boss would just him enough shifts so he could get his own place and no longer have to lie to the people in his life about where he lived.
He finally got out of the car and made his way into the trailer. As he unlocked the door, he heard his mother talking inside. He paid no mind to it, thinking she was talking to Greg, only to be shocked to find his girlfriend sat in the living room with his mom and sister.
“Hey baby,” Stephanie said.
Jimmy’s eyes darted between his mother and girlfriend. “Hey, what - uh - are you doing here?”
“I ran into your mom at the grocery store,” (Y/N) explained as she stood to greet Jimmy. “We recognized each other from pictures and she invited me back for something to drink.”
Jimmy wanted nothing more than to snap at his mom, who was well aware that Jimmy hadn’t brought (Y/N) to the trailer yet due to his embarrassment for living there. Sometimes it felt like his mother did things just to ruin his life.
Instead, he shot Stephanie a look that she returned before taking Lily in her arms. “Come on honey, let’s go to bed, it’s late.”
Lily waved to (Y/N) and Jimmy. “Goodnight (Y/N), goodnight Jimmy.”
“Goodnight baby,” Jimmy said, his voice softer when addressing his little sister.
(Y/N) had noticed Jimmy’s tenseness the minute he walked through the door, and once Stephanie had closed the door to her bedroom, she turned to him. “You don’t want me here.”
Jimmy looked at her in shock. “What? No, no that’s not it. I - I am glad you’re here.”
(Y/N) shook her head. “You forget that I know when you’re lying. I get it, you haven’t introduced me to your family at all yet so I shouldn’t really just show up at your house out of nowhere - ”
Jimmy scoffed. “This isn’t a house.”
(Y/N) furrowed her eyebrows at she looked at him, then finally realized why he was truly upset. “Wait, Jimmy, are you upset I’m here because you didn’t want me to know this is where you lived?”
Jimmy’s frustration and embarrassment reached its limit when she finally said the words. He was so angry with his mother for bringing (Y/N) to the trailer, he was embarrassed that (Y/N) finally knew the truth about him. He just wanted to disappear and to never be found by anyone.
Not wanting to let either emotion show, Jimmy turned and stormed out of the trailer. He debated on getting into his car and driving away, but he knew that in a moment like this, the piece of shit probably wouldn’t even start, so he walked right past it and continued to walk across the trailer park. He wasn’t sure where he was going, but he hoped (Y/N) wouldn’t follow him.
Jimmy, of course, was wrong. (Y/N) cared so greatly for her boyfriend that the moment he opened the door she was right on his tail, chasing him across the trailer park, even willing to chase him if he had left in his car.
“Jimmy!” she huffed after chasing him for some time. “Okay, slow down a minute. I’m not this physically fit to keep chasing you.”
Jimmy finally stopped but refused to turn and look at her. (Y/N) doubled over, her hands on her knees, as she took a minute to catch her breath. When she was no longer breathing so heavily, she managed to speak.
“Why are you running away? And why are you so embarrassed about living in a trailer?”
He finally turned to her, but looked down at the ground in front of him instead, his hands buried in his pockets. “I didn’t want you to know I was living with my mom, or that the two of us lived in a trailer. It’s fucking embarrassing to be a grown ass man living with his mother.”
“Not as embarrassing as being a grown ass woman who only just moved out of her parents place,” (Y/N) reminded him.
Jimmy looked up at her, feeling a little stupid in that moment. He had totally forgotten that (Y/N) had been living with her parents until recently, and was only able to move out after getting two roommates as none of them were able to live by themselves.
“And if you’re embarrassed for living in a trailer, you should also remember that I lived in one,” she continued. “For years. Mom and dad were threatened to be evicted on multiple occasions because they couldn’t make rent in a fucking trailer. It wasn’t until dad found a job in another state that paid well enough that we could afford a small apartment that we moved out. The girls I’m living with now were living with their parents in trailers before moving out together.”
(Y/N) approached Jimmy and cupped his face in her hands, forcing him to look at her. “Living in a trailer, or with your parents, when you’re not financially stable enough to have a place of your own is not something to be ashamed of, and you know I would never judge you for something like that.”
“I know you wouldn’t,” Jimmy sighed as he wrapped his arms around her waist. “I just...I don’t want to seem pathetic to you or anything. I love you a lot, and I can see us having a future, but I’ve had bad experiences in the past with ex-girlfriends and even ex-friends who make it a big deal about me living here with my mom. I’ve been made to feel like it’s pathetic, and even before moving in with her I felt like it was embarrassing but I had nowhere else to go.”
“Well, fuck those exes and those ex-friends. I love you, no matter where you live, no matter what you do. I love you for who you are, not the material things you do or don’t have.”
Jimmy smiled and pulled (Y/N) to him for a kiss. He held her tightly, never wanting to let her go. However, the cool Detroit night air was starting to get to both of them, and Jimmy could feel (Y/N) shivering against him.
“Let’s get you back inside so you don’t freeze,” he told her.
“That’d be nice,” (Y/N) said, pulling her jacket closer to her. “It’s cozier in your trailer than it is in my apartment.”
Jimmy smiled as he put an arm around her shoulder. “I guess I do have one thing over you in that aspect.”
(Y/N) stuck her tongue out at him but cuddled into his side as they walked back to the trailer together.

survey by lilprincess
Approx. Time you began this survey: 6:46 on a Wednesday evening.
Describe your mood right now: Erm, a bit exhausted because I just ended a work shift; but content for the same reason. Right now I’m simply looking forward to dinner and crashing on the couch or my bed, wherever I feel like sleeping tonight.
Spell your first name without vowels: Rbn. Let’s just also remove y for this one.
Age you will be on your next birthday: 23.
Zodiac Sign: Taurus.
Do you believe what your horoscope says about your sign? I do not believe in astrology whatsoever.
What state/region do you live in? Somewhere in the Philippines somewhere close to Metro Manila.
Height: Like 5′1″ ish. I had a massive growth spurt in 4th grade that also ended in 4th grade, which will always be a funny story to tell people lmao. I went from being placed at the back of the class line to the front really quickly.
Do you smoke? Super occasionally. My last cigarette was like...all the way back in February last year. It was easier to hide the smell around my family before, but because my parents and siblings have mostly been staying at home in the last year it would be so easy to weed out the smell. I never feel like smoking anyway since I vape, so there’s been no reason to seek it out.
Do you drink? Yeah, sometimes socially and sometimes on my own if I wanna unwind and feel a lil buzz come through.
What's your ethnic background? Southeast Asian, specifically Filipino.
What's your religious background? Technically my ~background~ would be Catholic since I was born and baptized in that faith, but I’ve long let go of this. Excluding one very brief period in high school, religion was something I never held much belief and faith in, even if I've been taken to literally every Sunday mass for the last 23 years and even if I was enrolled in Catholic school from preschool to high school.
What's your natural hair color? Black.
What;s your natural eye color? Dark brown, almost black.
Do you have any bad habits you want to break? I do overtime work a lot but used to seldom file it on our company shift log sheet because I get shy that they must think I’m doing it just to be paid more, lol. I’m starting to file them every time I do OT though because fuck it, pay me.
Name a few of your positive habits. I like that I always find a way to meet deadlines. I like that I’m selfless, even though some would see it as a flaw. I’d rather do too much than say I never did anything at all.
Have you ever lived in a foreign country? No, the most I’ve done was travel to one for a week.
Did you vote in the Nov. 6 2012 presidential election? No because I am not American -___- The last election that took place before I was eligible was in 2010, and had I been able to vote then, I would’ve given mine to Gibo Teodoro, who I believe was the most qualified at the time.
Are you even eligible to vote? Yeah, I’ve been for the last 5 years. I’ve voted twice - once for the presidential elections back in 2016, and the next was for the senatorial elections in 2019.
Are you right handed or left handed? Right-handed.
When you write, is your penmanship usually neat or do you tend to scribble? It starts off neat for the most part, but it gradually gets messy and becomes more like a scribble if we’re talking about writing several essays in one sitting, which was usually the case in my exams in college.
Have you ever experienced an accident? (of any type): Sure, I’ve been in car accidents before. I’ve also been shocked once.
Do you have/want children? They would be nice to have, yeah.
Are you environmentally conscious? For the most part, yeah. But there are some things that can’t be helped, like me driving. Unless the government does something about the shitty public transport system that we have and have had for decades, I refuse to take it.
What's your favorite mode of transportation? Like I said, my own car. If I’m traveling, by plane.
Do you prefer 80's - 90's music compared to today's music? Eh, not at all. I prefer music produced these days.
Are you more of an introvert (quiet/shy), or extrovert (social butterfly)? I’ve been more of an extrovert in the last few years but I will always be shy at first upon meeting new people, like that will never change. I warm up a lot quickly now, though.
What's your favorite emoticon? :)
Do you miss the good old days of hand-written letters? I caught the super super super last part of this era, so I didn’t even get to experience it. I know snail mail was still kind of a thing when I was a kid, but at the same time that was happening my mom was also already using email to keep in touch with my dad, so.
Nowadays, though, when I do write letters to loved ones, I will still prefer to make handwritten ones, especially for a significant other or best friend. I don’t think I’ve ever sent out a computerized long letter.
Do you enjoy receiving or giving more? Giving, but it’s nice to be treated too sometimes.
Are you good at keeping secrets? Sure.
Do you take or give advice more often? I don’t usually get into situations wherein I’d have to do either, but I think I’ve been asking for advice more, especially over the last few months.
Do you have your driver's license? “I got my driver’s license last week, just like we always talked about...” Haha this question made me sing a bit. Anyway, yeah, I got it shortly after I turned 18 since I needed to quickly learn before college started.
Would you rather be poor & happy or rich but miserable? Rich but miserable. Soz but I’d solve 4854983594857 of my problems if I never had to worry about money.
Have you ever had a pregnancy scare? Never.
Have you ever blocked someone on Facebook? Probably not blocked, but I’ve unfollowed some current Facebook friends and unfriended others entirely.
Do you think recreational marijuana should be nationally legalized? Idk much about the topic since it’s taboo enough where I live, but sure, I guess?I haven’t heard one bad word about the effects of marijuana.
Describe your perfect first date. I’ve never really had a first date, but I imagine an ideal one would be pretty lowkey, just a stroll around a nice city and maybe have fancyish dinner somewhere.
Have you ever been high? Nope.
Have you ever watched a NC-17 rated film? Sure. A good handful of Kubrick films pass for NC-17, right? I’d be surprised if they weren’t, lol. I’ve been scarred by some of them for sure.
If you ever become reincarnated as an animal, what would you want it to be? A dog.
Do you remember where you were/what you were doing on September 11, 2001? No; I was 2 years old. I did ask my parents where they were in those moments, and my mom understandably missed most of it since the entire thing unfolded in the late evening in the Philippines. The only thing she can recall was being insanely worried for my dad, who had just started to work in the US back then.
Do you ever wish you were of a different nationality/religion? Yeah, to a certain extent, just because the political and socioeconomic situation here is very messy and it doesn’t really give us the nicest reputation in front of the world. I’m proud of my Filipino culture and heritage though.
Are you more of a junk food addict or health nut? Health nut is the last thing anyone should be calling me. But I’m not so much a junk food addict either? I do like spoiling myself with food, but I still monitor my intake.
Do you believe Antarctica should be considered the 7th world continent? Isn’t it already though?? We’ve always been taught there were 7 continents and Antarctica is one of them lol.
Describe your own sense of humor in 1 word: Gen-Z, if that counts as one word.
Have you ever quoted the Bible (or any other Holy Book)? If I ever did it was probably meant to be sarcasm.
Have you ever completed a Sudoku puzzle? No. Never figured out how to play it either.
Would you rather be a nuclear physicist or marine biologist? Marine biologist. That’s one step closer to one of my loves, biology. Plus I was never any good with physics, so.
Do you have a deep, dark secret you're hiding from every one? I guess.
Would you rather be able to soar like an eagle or swim like a dolphin? I’d make my childhood self happy and go with flight.
If you wanted to learn a foreign language, what would it be? Korean so I can finally stop reading subs, hahah.
Are you bi-curious? No.
Did you watch the Disney Channel or Nickelodeon more as a kid? The Nickelodeon cartoons were far more interesting to me. I think I only got into Disney when I got a little bit older, once I was able to appreciate the more mature content in shows like The Suite Life, That’s So Raven, etc. But for the most part our TV was always tuned into Nick Jr., Spongebob, Jimmy Neutron and the other Nick shows.
Name 5 films that were made the year you were born: American History X (great watch), The Truman Show, Mulan, La Vita e Bella if I’m not mistaken (one of my faves, no matter how gut-wrenching it is), and Shakespeare in Love.
Did you have a lot of friends in high school? Yes, eventually I did.
Do you rely more on the newspaper, Internet or TV as your news source? Social media these days since I find that online writers are far more discerning in their reporting than TV anchors, who stay neutral at best.
True or false: Bigger is better. Very vaguely put, but not always, I guess.
Do you think religion is the primary cause of war? No? There’ve been plenty other reasons for war.
What's your favorite pizza topping? ...Cheese.
Think of your wardrobe. What color do you wear the most? It’s still black, I think.
Have you ever been to a planetarium? Just once, on a middle school field trip. I’d love to come back, though.
Do you feel like you connect more with animals or other people? I don’t get to be with animals a lot other than my dogs, so I’ll go with people.
Do you feel like sometimes you have to lie in order to protect yourself? Wow so dramatically put haha but yeah, I suppose it does feel that way sometimes.
How often do you exercise? Literally never. I’ve stopped working out this year since I didn’t see the point, and I’ve stopped feeling like I had to ‘get back’ at my ex just by getting a more toned figure. I’m totally at peace with how my body looks, plus I never want to give up on my favorite foods and snacks lol so there’s that.
Can you swear in a different language? Putangina mong bobo kang gago ka. That’s three for ya.
Do you think teachers/doctors deserve to get paid more than pro athletes? Everyone deserves to be paid fairly to the point that no comparison should be necessary, period.
From a scale of 1- 5, you would rate this survey: Erm, a 4.5. I had to delete some questions I didn’t feel comfortable answering or that I found a little meh, but the rest I fairly enjoyed.
Do you think most of these questions were more original or more ordinary? It’s a bit in between.
Approx. time you completed this survey: Hahahahah 10:38 PM. I took a million breaks.

February 3, 2021: Sleepless in Seattle (1993)
Tumblr media
The year: 1986. A small new fictionation is founded as part of a disparate group of similar territories. Near to another civilization founded by Woody Allen (we’ll get to him later this month, whoof), a new settlement was founded by one Nora Ephron. It began with Heartburn, a rom-com starring Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson. While it was somewhat successful, it wasn’t exactly a dynamo by any means. And that is when Nora met the future Empress of her fictonation.
Her name was Meg Ryan, and the film...was When Harry Met Sally.
Tumblr media
Ephron only wrote this film, rather than direct it. But it didn’t matter, as this film was CRAZY successful (and I’ll be watching it later this month). Some years past, and both Ryan and Ephron rose in power. Ephron became a director, Ryan became a movie star, and the two pillars would reunite for greater things. And THAT is when the future Empress met her Emperor.
Enter Joe vs. the Volcano, where Meg Ryan...met Tom Hanks.
Tumblr media
Now, was this movie amazing? No, not from what I’ve heard. But the two new co-stars apparently made an impression on Hollywood at this point, as their respective stars would only grow brighter. And so, when 1993 came along, the three pillars finally met, and ascended to their true roles as the rulers of a now united Holy Romance Empire. And that film...was Sleepless in Seattle.
Tumblr media
Time to witness a nation RISE. SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
Recap
We start where all romantic comedies should start: at a Chicago graveyard!
Tumblr media
Architect Sam Baldwin’s (Tom Hanks) wife, Maggie, has sadly passed away, leaving Sam and their son, Jonah (Ross Malinger). Sam’s clearly broken, understandably, and he decides to move from Chicago in order to leave behind the bittersweet memories of his wife. And where he’s headed? You know where.
Jimmy Durante’s rendition of “As Time Goes By”
Jimmy Durante sings us in (I love this song, for the record), and we head not to Seattle, but to Baltimore, 18 months afterwards. There, reporter Annie Reed (Meg Ryan) is going to a Christmas party with her new fiancée, Walter Jackson (Bill Pullman), which is announced to great aplomb at the party. Her brother Dennis is played by Niles from Frasier (David Hyde Pierce), and I nearly spit out my sandwich.
Tumblr media
That night, Annie’s mother gives her her old wedding dress, and have a VERY frank conversation about their sexual relationships. It is...awkward. Anyway, the dress tears, which Annie sees as a sign. In any case, she still seems happy...I think. On the way to Walter’s parents’ place, she tunes into a radio talk show, where a child is making a Christmas wish to the station.
This child is, of course, Jonah, calling on behalf of his father from Seattle. He tells the host, Dr. Marcia Fieldstone (Caroline Aaron), that his father is lonely after his wife’s death, and that he wishes he had a new wife. She convinces Jonah to put him on the phone, and while he’s reluctant to do so (understandably), he accepts. All the while, Annie’s listening, and seems to sympathize deeply with him and his sarcastic responses.

However, Sam begins to open up, and Dr. Fieldstone christens him “Sleepless in Seattle,” after the fact that he doesn’t sleep much at all these days. His story resonates with a number of people, Annie included. A few people call in to respond to him, and at the end of the call, he describes how much and why he misses his wife. And I gotta be honest, I’m with Annie here. It is...very moving.
Damn you, Tom Hanks, it’s only 20 minutes in, why are you already making me FEEEEEEL?
Tumblr media
The next day, it’s a splash, and over 2,000 women call in in response to this. This is discounted by her co-worker and friend, Becky (Rosie O’Donnell). At the New Year’s party soon after, she and Walter make a date to meet in New York City, and register for their eventual wedding. Meanwhile, Sam tucks Jonah in to sleep, as Nat King Cole serenades us (I ALSO love Nat King Cole, real talk) and Sam stares at the fireworks off of his houseboat.
Tumblr media
And, mentally haunted by the ghost of his wife, he’s seemingly literally haunted by the ghost of his wife, Maggie (Carey Lowell). The next morning, he goes to help a client, Barbara (Dana Ivey), and his co-worker Jay Matthews (Rob Reiner) with a house, and finds out that everybody knows who he is at this point. Additionally, Jonah also give the radio station their address, and MANY women are now soliciting Sam, including...his third-grade teacher. Ew. EW.
Sam and Jonah next have a talk about whether or not a prospective new wife would have sex with Sam, and I wonder if sexual conversations with your parents are supposed to be this common, or if I’m just crazy. Because me and my Dad? Nuh-uh. And no worries if your relationship with your folks is like this, but mine DEFINITELY IS NOT, lemme tell you.
Tumblr media
Annie and Walter prepare for bed, and Ray Charles sings them to sleep, followed by Carly Simon talking about the wee small hours of the morning. During those hours, Annie gets up, also unable to sleep, and turns on the Dr. Marcia Fieldstone show. During the highlight reel for the show, Disappointed in Denver notes that:
Everytime I come close to orgasm, he goes and makes himself a sandwich.
...Wow. Um. Asshole? And then Marcia tells her to make a sandwich for him beforehand, WHICH IS NOT SOLVING THE PROBLEM. Anyway, Sam is also featured in that highlight reel, and Annie cries again as he talks about his wife, and it’s a disproportionately long excerpt compared to the others, what the hell? Marooned in Miami is DISAPPOINTED now.
Tumblr media
Annie goes to meet her brother Niles (he’s basically Niles from Frasier, seriously) the next day, and explains that she’s fantasizing about Sam, a man she’s never even MET. She’s also feeling doubt about her upcoming marriage, which is...interesting. I’ll get to that later. In Seattle, meanwhile, Sam asks Jay what it’s like as a single man in Seattle, and they have a conversation about how cute Sam’s butt is. Nice.
Upon the realization that his 9-year old son is hanging out with more girls than he is (yeah, there’s a kid named Jessica hanging out with him when Sam gets home, it’s awkward), Sam’s back in the saddle again (as the song indicates; that said, goddamn is the music choice on the nose sometimes, seriously). He calls a woman named Victoria (Barbara Garrick), and asks her out on a date.
Tumblr media
Annie’s watching the movie An Affair to Remember (lateeeeeer) at Becky’s, as she’s lamenting her fixation on Sam, while also struggling to fully understand how she feels about Walter. Becky RIGHTFULLY accuses her of believing in Hollywood, movie love, which is demonstrated by Annie’s meaningless platitudes about her supposed love for Walter. This is while she’s writing a letter to Sam, then aborts it when she realizes what she’s doing. She sits on the couch with Becky, they mouth the words together in the movie, and they cry while I laugh, because that was funny.
Things aren’t as jovial for Sam and Jonah, as Jonah’s had a nightmare, and the two reminisce over missing their mother. Sam notes that Maggie could peel an apple in one long...curly...strip. You mean...like Annie was doing earlier? I see what you did there, movie. I see what you did there. As if to compound their invisible connection, both of them sit on a dock, staring into two separate oceans at night.
Tumblr media
Sam proceeds to write a story for the paper on “Sleepless in Seattle,” and through some...mildly creepy personal invasion, she finds his address in Seattle, and a hell of a lot more personal information. Like I said, it’s a little creepy. Sam, meanwhile, is going on a date with Victoria, when Jonah opens a letter...from Annie.
Annie. What’re you doin’?
Jonah appears to IMMEDIATELY ship the two, but Sam quotes the coast-to-coast distance as being a bit too much, and goes on the date with Victoria. While on the date, Jonah tries to hook Sam up with Annie by getting him to agree to take them to New York City on Valentine’s Day. Damn, Jonah, you lookin’ to escape a whale, because you are BUILDING A GODDAMN SHIP
Tumblr media
Victoria, a woman with an amazingly obnoxious laugh, does not rub off well on Jonah, or me, or my girlfriend. I’m really hoping that somehow, in SOME WAY, Victoria and Walter get together. He’s boring, she’s obnoxious, who knows? They might like each other. My ship...is being built.
Jonah, meanwhile, is TAKING THE FUCKING WHEEL of this ship. He calls the radio station once again, and Annie is alerted to this by Becky. She wakes up, punching Walter in the process (dude gets HURT), and goes downstairs to listen. Jonah’s telling the station that Victoria SUUUUUCKS, and straight up calls her “a ho.” He hangs up abruptly, and screams to stop his father from kissing Victoria. Annie, meanwhile, listens to this in the closet for some reason.
Tumblr media
The next day, Jonah’s friend, Jessica, tells Jonah to send a letter to Annie on his father’s behalf. Meanwhile, Annie flies to Seattle in the guise of doing a story, when she’s actually going to try and meet Sam. Victoria, meanwhile, is leaving from the airport, where Sam and Jonah are seeing her off. Victoria basically implies that she’d like to ditch the kid and go fuck someplace sometime, which might FINALLY rub Sam the wrong way.
Sam talks to Jonah about the fact that he’s dating Victoria, not marrying her, and that she might not be the one for him. He also says that there’s no such thing as soul-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
-mates.
Yeah, they actually did just do that. Sam loses Annie at the airport, after immediately chasing after her. They’re perfect for each other, as Annie goes RIGHT to Sam’s houseboat address. She hangs around the neighborhood, and sees them having fun on the beach together as Harry Connick Jr. plays in the background. That night, she confides in Becky about her guilt in lying to Walter.
And if I can just say this...yeah, THAT isn’t great. I get that there’s some cinematic paegentry to the whole thing, but, like...tell your FIANCEE about your FEELINGS. It’s hard, yeah, duh, but YOU GOTTA DO IT. You most certainly owe it to Walter. At least she appears to know it, though.
Annie at the hotel
The next day, Annie goes once again to weirdly spy on Jonah, and sees him hug a woman very happily, and of course believes that that’s Victoria. However, this is his friend, Suzy (Rita Wilson), who’s visiting with her husband, Greg (Victor Garber). In any case, this leads to Sam and Annie seeing each other for the first time. He says hello. She says hello. Then she almost gets hit by a taxi, and she IMMEDIATELY flies back home WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUH
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We find this out later, but the taxi and the fact that all she could say was “Hello” is actually all a reference to the film seen earlier, An Affair to Remember (again, later this month). This is also part of the repeating motif that this film has: signs. Y’know, the kind of “IT’S A SIGN” thing. However, the real twist here is that the signs are the ones that they can’t see. Like the apple and the hello thing. Not yet, anyway.
Also, dear lord, An Affair to Remember is just making EVERY woman in the film cry, even when they’re TALKING about it. And every time, the men just look at each other like “WOMEN, with their EMOTIONS and their VAGOOOOOOS.” Jesus, ‘90s movies. Even JESSICA (Gaby Hoffman), Jonah’s friend, the LITTLE GIRL, is crying at this movie. JESUS, I’m really interested in seeing this movie now.
Tumblr media
Jessica and Jonah start conspiring on how to get to New York to meet Annie, and do so by FAKING AIRLINE TICKETS OK THEN. Meanwhile, Annie’s given up on the whole “Sleepless in Seattle” thing, and goes to meet Walter for their Valentine’s date in NYC. Walter rightfully comments that Annie’s seemed distant, and here’s the thing: Walter deserves better than this. Yeah, he’s BORING AS SHIT, but the dude’s committed to her, and she’s amazingly flaky in comparison. I dunno, maybe it’s because it’s Bill Pullman, but I feel bad for him.
Anyway, in New York, the two begin to rekindle their relationship, and Walter gets a ring for her at FUCKING TIFFANY’S HOLY SHIT. Meanwhile, Sam’s THIRSTY AS FUUUUUUUCK, and is leaving to spend the weekend with Victoria, which Jonah is NOT a fan of. This ship is gonna SAIL if JONAH HAS TO FLY TO NEW YORK CITY HIMSELF
Tumblr media
So, Jonah flies to New York City himself, in order to...meet his new mother. This movie has some VERY interesting issues, Jesus. Jonah does, indeed go to the top of the Empire State Building to look for Annie, and he asks all the girls on the Observation Deck if they’re Annie. Which, of course, none of them are. Why?
Annie’s at dinner, that’s why, and at the FUCKING RAINBOW ROOM DEAR LORD HOW MUCH MONEY DOES WALTER MAKE? Sam also makes his way to New York, probably to DESTROY HIS CHILD
Tumblr media
And at dinner, Annie actually redeems herself by telling Walter the ENTIRE TRUTH about her feelings, and about “Sleepless in Seattle.” And Walter is a CLASSY-ASS GUY ABOUT THE ENTIRE THING, and the two break off their engagement amicably. Annie says that she doesn’t deserve Walter, and BY GOD SHE’S RIGHT. Walter’s a sweet dude. And as soon as they break up...a sign.
Tumblr media
Sam finds Jonah on the Observation Deck, and the two tearfully reunite. And as they two unite, and everybody else leaves the Observation Deck as it closes for the night, Annie rushes on her way there. An Affair to Remember is invoked one last time, as Annie convinces the guard to let her up there. But, OF GODDAMN COURSE...she goes up in one elevator, and Sam and Jonah head down in another.
But wait. Isn’t that Jonah’s backpack on the ground of the Observation Deck?
youtube
Yup. THERE’S the happy ending we’re lookin’ for. They finally formally introduce each other, and Sam says that they’d better leave...ALL of them, together. Love at first sight. PLAY US OUT JIMMY DURANTE!!!! And yeah, I know that Celine Dion sings the end credits song, but NOPE! TAKE ME AWAY, JIMMY! MAKE ME HAPPY!
And that was Sleepless in Seattle! And again, I liked it! I’ll get more into it during the Review!

In "your own special hopes, your own special dreams", from "Chuck rolled his eyes while Rebecca smiled politely and snuck her hand in her husband’s." to the end because that ending absolutely destroyed me
Oh man, I haven’t talked about this fic in a while! Alright, let’s break it down.
Chuck rolled his eyes while Rebecca smiled politely and snuck her hand in her husband’s. Jimmy smirked, but there was an ache in it that broke her heart. She patted his hand—one, two, three—and he looked back at her. There was still a ways to go, but they were getting there.
I knew where the end was going, so I wanted to set up a contrast and call back the infamous birthday party that was mentioned in Klick. The important thing for me here was to show that while it wasn’t as bad as Chuck though it was, it also wasn’t perfect. Jimmy’s dealing with years of guilt and shame, and Ruth is trying her best. Also, I there’s a mixture of humor and sadness in a woman who is trying to convince her sons to have kids when neither have any interest.
“Ruth,” Charlie said softly, holding her hand as they sat on the bed. “You are a wonderful mother. And whatever happens, I will be right by you.”
Surprise! Charlie’s alive! It’s funny, I decided after this fic that it makes more sense for Jimmy and Chuck’s dad to be called “Willard,” 1) to distinguish between Dad and Chuck a little more easily, 2) I’m fairly sure that “Charles” is most likely a family name that is passed down since it’s Charles Willard and Charles Lindbergh as opposed to Charles, Sr and Charles, Jr, and 3) he looks like a Willard, I don’t make the rules.
Charlie? Ruth looked around her. He wasn’t there in their bedroom. She crossed to the door, where it opened into the old corner store.
Does anybody remember the dream episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Yeah, that’s basically where I got this idea from. It’s such a simple and cinematically visual detail that sets up the rest of the chapter.
Ah, memories. They started to blend together at a certain point.
This was a lot of fun for me. I’d be lying if I say that there wasn’t an unconscious influence of the show Six Feet Under. There was an episode where Nate is dreaming/hallucinating unrealized futures blending together, and that’s what I wanted to work into this last chapter.
Marco Pasternak, all of twelve-years-old, ran past her as he stuffed his mouth with a Little Debbie’s Swiss cake roll. He shot a sweet chocolate-stained smile as he raced on.
Baby Marco is my favorite. I’ve been wanting to write more for Marco in general, but just haven’t been able to find a way to work him in. One of the reasons I am able to build on Ruth as much as I can is because of Marco’s open admiration for her. She knew they were cutting class and she let him have Little Debbie’s? Ruth is not oblivious to her son’s nonsense!
Mary Tyler Moore and Lou Grant were arguing about something outside, as was the case weekly.
A callback to the night where Jimmy and Ruth fell asleep on the couch after Ruth’s blowout fight with Charlie. I think that TV was a respite for Ruth and Jimmy, and I have a feeling that Ruth loved Mary Tyler Moore.
Familiar voices, but distant. Voices from a memory that hadn’t happened yet. She wasn’t even sure if she was there for it, or meant to be a part of it.
I love playing with time and the past, and layering the conversation Jimmy and Chuck have next to Ruth’s death bed weaves it all together.
“This is terrifying,” Chuck said. Not an admission or a confession. His tone was matter-of-fact and declarative.
“It’s absolutely terrifying,” she agreed before turning her attention as the baby started hiccuping. She cooed, “But it’s okay, right Jimmy?”
A callback to the first chapter. To Ruth, this is the perfect ending to her story—happy memories of her past as opposed to the sad ones, loving her boys as best as she can. The tragedy of it is that Chuck isn’t inside her head. He doesn’t know that she’s thinking about both of them, not just Jimmy.
Oh, the new memory was Chuck! But now the chair where her boy and her baby were sitting was empty. He and Jimmy were probably in the other room. Those two , she shook her head. Always running off, looking for excitement.
One minute they’re babies, and the next they’re off and running. Despite how different they are, Chuck and Jimmy were always looking for the next best thing. A career opportunity, a scam, a marriage (or two)... And as kids get older, their parents can’t keep up.
She went to find them both as the darkness fell over her.
There’s something that a lot of parents say: “You never stop being a parent.” It only makes sense that even in death, Ruth would be trying to make sure her kids stay out of trouble.

22 with Tina and Jimmy Jr.?
22- Write about a member of your ship giving the other a special gift.
Tina slid down the booth, groaning loudly. She didn’t mean to make such a spectacle of herself, though it does tend to get results in terms of someone asking:
“What’s wrong, T?”
“It’s just,” Tina tried to talk, though her head was angled into her chest and it made it kind of hard. But she was dedicated to the slouch now, “I didn’t raise enough money for the Boyz 4 Now concert… The last wave of sales are this afternoon.”
“What – you didn’t – Gene, what’s in your pockets!” Louise shook her brother, feeling uncharacteristically panicked. She cleared her throat when she realised how worried she sounded, getting back to her seated position.
Gene turned his pockets inside out, “Lint, a chicken popper from lunch – MINE! – and two cents.”
“There – how much does that put you to now?!”
“Uhm, 25.02…” Tina covered her face, nails dragging down and messing up her glasses, “I got nothing! Ugh, and they’re starting their tour now so I won’t get another chance to see them live for at least a year.” Louise grumbled, head in her heads, only making a face when she realised Gene was eating said chicken popper.
“I’m sorry Tina, honey.” Linda walked over, “Your pocket money would be more, but we gotta keep some money back to pay for the caterpillar tube.”
“Capillary tube, Linda.”
“What’d I say?”
The door opening distracted them all, and Tina peered over the booth – the only thing forcing her to actually sit up was the fact it was Jimmy. “Oh, hey.”
“Hey Tina, are you buschy?” he glanced at the whole Belcher family being there, though he supposed he could have picked a better time than the close. But if he didn’t do it now, he’d need to do it at school, and Gene and Louise would still be there. At any time, she had a Belcher glued to her – so Hell, might as well talk to her while everyone is here.
“Uhm, no.” she stood up, ignoring Bob’s warning ‘hmm’. “What’s up?”
“Okay, well, uhm,” he looked at Linda and Bob, who were both staring. When Jimmy looked, Linda suddenly looked up at the ceiling, and Bob looked back down at the grill as he cleaned. He cleared his throat, offering Tina an envelope, “I got a prethent for you.”
“Oh wow, isn’t it your birthday?” Tina took the envelope anyway, clinging to it - a gift from Jimmy was to be cherished, “This isn’t usually how it works. But I definitely have a present for you. But it’s uhm, upstairs, and not wrapped, so I can’t show you it until tomorrow. Or maybe Monday, ‘cause you know, I don’t really have the right wrapping paper-”
“Tina, Tina. Tina.” Jimmy interrupted, getting louder with every word. He ignored the fact it was obvious she hadn’t gotten him a birthday present (he didn’t actually care. His birthday was okay, but awkward. His dad didn’t really try, but somehow still got Jimmy on his birthday, meanwhile his mom had put out all the stops last weekend when he was over). Hanging out with her and Zeke would be good enough. “It’th not about my birthday. Well, it kinda ith. My mom uuh, got me ticketth…”
Tina’s eyebrows met, and she opened the envelope, staring at the shiny tickets for Boyz 4 Now. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God!!! “Ha, ha, ha! Ha,” Tina tried to breathe, “You got me Boyz for Now tickets?! How! The sale started today – I mean, well, the last wave,”
“My mom got them ageth ago.” Jimmy smiled at her confused delight, scratching his cheek, “I didn’t really want anything, so I athked for ticketth.”
“How’d you know I wouldn’t be able to get any?” Tina wasn’t trying to find loopholes – but the hypothetical of Jimmy wasting his mom’s money in case she had gotten tickets stressed her out a little. Jimmy didn’t really reply, instead his face crumpled. How on Earth was Tina Belcher going to raise money for at least one ticket when all she did was rake leaves and the odd paper route.
“Mom look!” Tina walked over to the counter, showing Linda the tickets – who ‘oooh’ed appropriately, though she wasn’t too thrilled that it was Jimmy that did it. Though she had to admit, it was a very, very sweet gesture for her daughter. That won him some brownie points.
“Yeah, yippee, okay, good for you!” Louise couldn’t help her outburst, rubbing the menu a little harder than necessary, “If we don’t need to get more than say, one ticket, could we get any, mom? So that I can you know, chaperone these kids.” She thumbed at Jimmy and Tina.
“Still no, sorry honey.”
Jimmy took the envelope from Tina and then took out the tickets, “I got you one too, Louithe.” He spread them apart, showing indeed that there were three. Louise pursed her lips, unintentionally letting out a squeak, before pulling on the strings of her hat.
“Okay, cool.” She managed, “Now get outta here you scamps, why don’t you enjoy the rest of your night – and I can look after those, uh, tickets,” she began to crawl across the table, but Jimmy snatched them away, giving them back to Tina.
“Can we go get some ice cream, mom?” Tina looked over. Linda rolled her eyes, hands on her hips.
“Okay, sure, but if you don’t eat your dinner, I’m cutting those tickets up! Haha, oh, I’m kidding – geez look at your faces.”
“Boyz 4 Now is no joke.” Louise glowered, “For uh, Tina.”
“Thankth Mrth B!”
“Be back soon!” Tina walked out with almost a skip in her step, taking Jimmy’s hand as they head down the street.
“Good kid.” Bob murmured. Linda tutted, getting back to her work only after she couldn’t see the pair anymore.

Introduction
Can’t wait it is my friend, Colleen Mary Flynn’s last night as a free woman at least that the two of us could schedule together. She and I have been friends since we were born our moms are best friends. Her wedding to Colby Francis McAllister is in just over a week. My name is Margaret Catherine Kelly. I’m the youngest of 4 children, 2 boys 2 girls. My Sister Rachel Elizabeth is the oldest, my twin brothers Michael Patrick and Daniel Ian are a year younger than her and five years later came me. I’m Affectionately known as oops. We grew up in a tightly knit Irish Catholic family, my Dad Michael Patrick Sr. And my Mom Catherine Elizabeth(née Daily), in a New Jersey Shore town, Stone Harbor. My Dad owned a import business, mostly fine Irish wines and spirits. Mom was and still is a stay at home mom. Dad has since retired, sort of, he works as a consultant for new and upcoming restaurants, pub and distributors, for a price.
We all grew up going to church, school, 1st holy communion together, graduations, dating each other’s friends along the way.
First to marry was Rachel. She married James Allen Casey(Jimmy). She met him when she was away at college, and married shortly after graduation. They moved into a small house in Stone Harbor and took over our family’s business. They have since had 3 boys James jr, Colin, and Shamus. Then Rachel gave birth to Katie(Kathleen Elizabeth), my Goddaughter and Colleen’s flower girl. My heart!! Rachel is a stay at home mom, like our mother before her.
The next to marry was Michael, yes he married one of my friends Sarah Jane Michaels. They also have 3 boys Michael Patrick the 3rd, Kevin and Tyler. With no plans to have any more. Michael went to work at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore Maryland, after graduating culinary school. Taking the grandsons with, much to our moms displeasure.
Daniel(Danny) got married not long after to my third amigo, Kelly Ann Shannon, and finally She just gave birth to sweet little Caroline. Whom I have not met yet, because they moved to Boston after he graduated from culinary school as well, where Danny has worked in multiple restaurants honing his craft before opening his own restaurant just before Caroline’s birth. So far away again for my Mom, so she has been spoiling Rachel’s babies.
Then there’s me not dating not engaged, not married and no babies. I however just finished getting my Masters degree in Social work and will soon start working for the Cape May County Health and Human Services Department. Up till about 6 months ago I had been working at Vitelli’s Italian restaurant from the age of 16 first busing tables, and the waiting tables. I had been dating Danny and Michaels best friend Thomas Edward Lynch since my senior year of High School. Blond hair, crystal blue eyes, and that cheeky smile. Love that man, more than life, but with lots of unsolicited persuasion from my Mom that he wasn’t showing any interest in Marriage(or was he)a year and a half ago we broke things off...what a monumental mistake that turned out to be.
Chapter One(The set-up)
Colleen picked me up around 600pm, or should I say we talk in to town from my parents house along the bayside. Down 96th Street to the Harbor Bar and Grill. Newley re-opened new owner, menu new everything. It was about 630pm when finally got there, had to stop several times we were laughing so hard. Talking and spending time together had become limited, you know , life.
We were seated right away, it was the end of summer. College kids back at school. Shoe bees home getting their kids ready for school as well. So locals(love that word), people you’ve know for what feels like for ever. Smiles, quick waves hello to everyone as we were seated at our table.
Once we were at our table, as we checked out the new menu, I asked her if she ever found out who bought the restaurant. A shrug of idk and sly smile on her face, we continued to scan the menu. Next thing you know a deep, raspy yet familiar voice asked if he could get us some drinks. He stated that our server was backed up with orders that he was helping her out. I closed my eye tight to gather my self realizing who it was. I turned toward the voice opened my eyes and there he was Tommy Lynch, with a big smile on his face. Just as my brothers did he graduated culinary school and for short while work with Danny in Boston after we broke up. Damn Colleen what have you done, I thought, smiling trying not to look annoyed I said”no that’s alright we can wait for our server.” Hoping he’d take the hint. No he didn’t, he asked Colleen “what can I get you since Mags( that’s what he calls me)isnt drinking tonight,” chuckling under his breath knowing full well that I would and knew exactly what I wanted! Beer always beer, my alcohol of choice. Dear sweet Colleen asked nicely for “large amounts of Rose”. She knew she was going to need it. “Better bring the bottle” I added trying not to smirk, cause I was pissed! He turned to me with his eyebrows raised”indeed, are you sure I can’t get you a beer Mags?”knowing full well i would change my mind. “Sure why not, what do you have on Tap?” Reveling in the fact that he would have to read off the whole list, when all I wanted was a pint of Samuel Adams Oktoberfest. Telling him that after I patiently waited for him to finish, I got a grunt in reply as he walked away to the Bar. I gave Colleen that look she knew she was in for an earful, but he came back with our drinks in hand and proceeded to sit down next to me. “Why don’t you join us” I said laced with as much sarcasm that I could. “Dont mind if I do, but I can’t stay long. Just wanted to see how you were doing Mags and to congratulate you on your Masters degree.” He contnued “I talked to Danny earlier this week and he told me that you graduated. “. I managed a small “thank you” followed closely by a large drink of my beer. Sensing that I wasn’t entirely comfortable, because my extending the years of my education was also one of the strains on our relationship, he turned to Colleen and said” so you and Colby are getting married in just over a week. Is everything ready?”. “Yes,”she replied, “but I didn’t get your RSVP Tommy.” With that our waitress appeared to take our order. Tommy excused himself he needed to go help the bartender. I was thankful for that , now I could relax a little. We ordered dinner which came out pretty quickly, but during that time Col repeatedly claimed she didn’t know Tommy was the owner, but that was a lie. She was a terrible liar, it was written all over her face. Now I just needed to figure out what they were up to. As we finished our meal trying to decide whether to get dessert or not Tommy reappeared. “Col I never received an invitation to your wedding” he said, “which is ok but I do hope you and Colby enjoy your day.”. He was starting to get up from the table when she blurted out” I have a great idea. “. My brain screamed STOP! Because when Col said that, her ideas were not great EVER!!!!! Yeah you guest it she invited my Ex to be my plus one at her wedding, because I didn’t have a date. Ugh!!! Before I could say anything he said”Thanks Col that is a great idea!” All I could do was smile because for words escaped me. There is was their master plan for Tommy and Me to attend her and Colby’s wedding together.

What a Heavenly Way to Die
by srfann
“Kara,” Winn says softly.
“Hm?”
“Lena’s last name is Luthor.”
Kara slows to a stop sign and feels the tension build in the truck as Winn anticipates a reaction.
She doesn’t give him one.
“So?” She looks ahead at the intersection. Focusing on pushing in the clutch and shifting through the gears when it’s her turn to go.
“I just… I wasn’t sure if you knew. And thought maybe it’d be something you’d noticeably react to -- once you found out. And, well, what if you found out from Lena and reacted in front of her? So I--”
“Why should I care if her last name is Luthor?” Kara cuts him off.
“Kara--”
“Lionel didn’t even get charged. The evidence was circumstantial at best,” Kara dismisses as she takes a corner just a tad too fast.
“Kara, her dad was the main suspect in your entire family’s murder.”

On New Year’s Day, a coalition of high-profile women in the entertainment industry, including America Ferrera, Reese Witherspoon and Shonda Rhimes, unveiled Time’s Up, a sweeping plan to address “the systemic inequality and injustice in the workplace that have kept underrepresented groups from reaching their full potential.”
The initiative includes a $13 million legal defense fund to help low-income women with workplace assault and harassment suits, an exhilaratingly ambitious project called 50/50 by 2020 that’s urging entertainment companies to commit to gender parity in their leadership structures in the next two years, and teams of lawyers taking smart legislative aim at targets like nondisclosure agreements. The signatories plan to wear black, which is notoriously difficult to photograph, to the Golden Globes on Sunday. They will not be your objects.
Time’s Up feels like an appropriately cinematic turn — it’s the third act and our heroine is angry. She’s finally stepping into her power. It’s beautiful to watch.
But I can’t stop coming back to that old question. Men: What exactly is it that you do here?
One pervasive feature of the post-#MeToo landscape has been distraught men apologizing for their gender, fretting about old drunken hookups and begging for guidance on what they can do to help. (Of course it took only moments to transform a mass catharsis into an emotional labor factory.) O.K., fine. You know what you could do to help? Everything.
How about Matt Damon refuses to show up to work until his female co-stars are paid as much as he is? How about Jimmy Fallon refuses to interview anyone who has been credibly accused of sexual assault or domestic violence? How about Robert Downey Jr. relentlessly points out microaggressions against female contemporaries until he develops a reputation for being “difficult” and every day on Twitter 4,000 eighth graders call him an “SJW cuck”? How about Harvey Weinstein anonymously donates $100 million to that legal defense fund and then melts into the fog as though he never existed?
How about hundreds of male movie stars spend months developing a large-scale action plan to help female farmworkers battle systemic gender inequality? How about men boycott Twitter? How about men strike for International Women’s Day? How about men take on the economic and social burdens of calling out toxic patterns of gendered socialization? How about anyone but the oppressed and John Oliver lifts a finger to change anything at all?
Sexism is a male invention. White supremacy is a white invention. Transphobia is a cisgender invention. So far, men have treated #MeToo like a bumbling dad in a detergent commercial: well-intentioned but floundering, as though they are not the experts. They have a chance to do better by Time’s Up.
Only 2.6 percent of construction workers are female. We did not install this glass ceiling, and it is not our responsibility to demolish it.

Okayy so I recently ruined my life by watching like 14 years of a tv show in less than a month. So now, yes, I sold my soul to the one and only supernatural fandom (courtesy of @downworlderss)
Tumblr media
I just got a couple of remarks for this show and none of it had any structure or order so here we go.
*MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN ALL THE SEASONS*
This show fucking ruined me, binge-watched seasons 1-12 in about 4 weeks, my pinterest board had over 700 pins in like a week afterwards
It started off genuinely creepy and then kinda digressed and idk if I just got desensitised or what
John Winchester is a terrible father
Bobby Singer is an amazing father
I was really confused when season 5 ended because I still had 6 more dvds (and season 12 on amazon prime cause I couldn’t get the freaking dvd because being British sucks sometimes) and I thought it was ending at season 5 because DEAN WAS FINALLY HAPPY DAMNIT
It was about season 7 when I got a new pair of glasses ‘cause my eyesight got worse and made the realisation that JENSEN ACKLES HAS FRECKLES WHAT
Called it that Chuck was God from the moment I saw him- he literally fucking told them he was a god come onnn
Dean’s contact name for Castiel in season 11 or 12 or whatever better be a fucking joke because it’s Cas not Cass
I thought I couldn’t hate Metatron more and then he goes and spells his name with a double S and I decided he needed to die
The subtitles also say Cass (on amazon anyway) and.. just no, okay? It’s CAS
Cried when Cas killed Balthazar
Kevin’s life went to absolute shit and idk if it was terrifying or hilarious
THE FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN J2 AND MISH IRL YES
Naomi is actually the worst, why do more people not hate on her? She tortured Cas and I am not okay with that I was happier when she died than when Metatron did I’m not joking
Sam kinda breaks my heart
THE WINCHESTER RELATIONSHIP SAM AND DEAN HAVE SUCH BROTHERLY COMPASSION DIE FOR EACH OTHER ALWAYS
Gadreel was decent, okay? I think I genuinely liked him and I don’t care.
I mean I know he killed Kevin but still
CROWLEY OWNS THE FREAKING MOON
Cas, honey, you’re a wonderful person/angel but mannn do you fuck up sometimes, I mean seriously
Misha Collins is a fucking incredible human being and his acting skills give me goosebumps I’m deadly serious. What with Cas and Crazy!Cas and Castifer and Godstiel and Levi!Cas and MetaMisha I have so much respect for this man and he is a national treasure.. of America.. damnit
I threw something when Charlie died
Lucifer is actually really cute (mainly just when he’s in Sam’s head though) but yeah, I think I love satan is this an issue
Okay but sometimes it hits me that Jared and Jensen and Misha are just three middle-aged dads running around pretending to stab things and smite demons I think that’s beautiful
I think I cried when the angels fell I can’t remember
Fuck Adam, I don’t care about him honestly- if he comes back he’s gonna be a crazy bitch- we should all just forget about him like the boys did
I’m pretty sure Mary Winchester is actually a terrible mother
Jody Mills is a fucking incredible mother, she’s like mum bobby
Season 12 made me hate my own nationality because THE BRITISH MEN OF LETTERS CAN GO FUCK THEMSELVES OKAY I was so happy when the freedomsquad rolled in with their whiskey and flannel and UGHH it was so good to see Britain fall, okay?
Apart from Mick, he was okay… before he died
Okay, but the season 12 finale
I WAS SOBBING FOR A SOLID 14 MINTUES
I HAD TO LEAVE MY HOUSE I WALKED UNTIL I DIDN’T KNOW WHERE I WAS
TURNED OUT I WALKED 6 MILES FROM MY HOUSE SO I HAD TO WALK 6 MILES BACK
12 MILES BECAUSE OF CAST-FUCKING-IEL
Dean’s reaction made me wanna throw myself off a bridge
I didn’t even care about the Nephilim by that point
Just Cas’s relationship w/ Dean (I am neutral ground between platonic and destiel atm) but whatever you think you cannot deny that these two fucking love each other and it’s just so damn beautiful
JIMMY NOVAK IS THE BEST FATHER IN THIS THING
The Novak storyline just makes me cry
Lucifer Cas was genuinely disturbing at times but this fucking line is now my life
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Actually so many things Castifer says and just the way Misha portrays all of the alter egos. It’s just amazing.
When we’re introduced to Levi!Cas Misha freaking Collins wtf how do you do that crazy thing with your eyes that makes you look like a completely different person
When Dean calls Cas his brother and says ‘i want you to know that’ is so fucking important to me because this wonderful being has been hunted by his angel brothers and sisters and Dean Winchester does not idly throw around a word like brother this scene was so special
Assbutt
Castiel’s wings scorched onto the ground just hit me so fucking hard and goddamnit it I can’t deal with that because he’s actually dead
Just… Castiel
-I’ll probably think of a load more this show man…
UPDATE:
HOW THE FRICKATY FRACK DID I FORGET GABRIEL
The car scene with Gabe and Cas and the parallels between them and the Winchester boys
BITCH PLEASE YOU’VE BEEN GOD MORE OFTEN THAN DAD HAS
I don’t think I stressed Balthazar enough because his death and the fact that Cas did it killed me.. and him
Crowley crowley crowley crowley
These boys are frustrating as fuck sometimes get your damn feelings sorted out you are brothers for fucks sake love each other always
It’s just when they’re like ‘oh we can’t be brothers anymore how could you do that to me’ and I’m sat there thinking ‘YOU LITERALLY DID THE SAME EXACT THING TO HIM LAST FUCKING SEASON COME ON’
Alsooo when Cas is Castifer everyone just seems to forget that, hello, CAS IS BEING POSSESSED BY LUCFIER DO YOU WANNA KEEP HIM SAFE IS HE YOUR FRIEND OR WHAT. And then Dean goes ‘what about Cas’ and I’m marginally satisfied
This scene
Tumblr media
LOVED THIS SCENE
I always love Lucifer until he goes after Cas and then I hate Lucifer and when he’s doing something else I love him again
This is not devil worship
Sam’s exasperation and the bitch face is honestly so funny to me I have no idea
SASSTIEL
The fact that Cas thinks so little of himself that the only way he believes he can be ‘of use’ to the boys is BY ENDLESSLY SACRIFICING HIMSELF
STOP CAS
YOU’RE FUCKING LOVED
Also the way Dean screams Cas’s name and how Sam has to drag him back through the portal to their side in the season 12 finale PFFFH don’t even get me started
So is Gabe alive or what?
So is Cas alive or what?
SO AM I ALIVE OR WHAT
UPDATEUPDATE
The storyline with Hannah and Cas was SO uncomfortable
Like, they’re literally siblings and the whole weird half-romantic subplot was just... ergh
I’m so fucking hyped for season 13, give me scooby-doo spn and I sure hope it’s Gabriel because, honestly, who else would put them in scooby-doo, pleaseeee give me richard speight jr
I’ve been reading a ton of fanfic, this has ruined me. There’s this wonderful author on fanfic.net called 29pieces who does amazing fics and they’re my life now
Cas’s eyes yes please give me the sky
Spn is creepy ass monsters and traumatizing characters and heartbreaking scenes
But sometimes they just throw in a crack episode and they keep me sane, honestly. I would be in a limitless pool of tears if not for the crack eps and the gag reels
THE GAG REELS
Tumblr media
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITES HE GOES FROM CAS TO MISHA IN LIKE A SINGLE SECOND
Back to sadness
CAS’S FACE AFTER METATRON SAYS ‘he’s dead too’
And he sees dean’s blood on the angel blade
HEARTBREAKING NO THANK YOU
SEASON 9. MAKES. ME. SO ANGRY. HOW DARE SAM AND DEAN HUNT WHILE CAS IS HOMELESS AND COLD AND A L O N E
I’m so sad about Cas being homeless because Misha and oh my god
Future!Cas also makes me sad because I know it’s funny and all to see Cas high but thinking about the road that led him there is not
Thinking about Cas’s depression that led him to drug abuse keeps me up at night
I NEED CHUCK TO TELL CAS HE’S HIS FAVOURITE BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY PLEASE
My angel feels inadequate and I cannot handle that today
Everything about Cas just makes me sad
