Didn't mean for this to become a mini Mappi study but here we are ✨ Thank you for the request! I fully intended to write them hanging out, but it's more right before they hang out lol. Went a bit on-the-nose with foreshadowing, but isn't that the fun part? It has become Emotional Over Mahiru Hour...

I kept things vague, but TW for mentioning her boyfriend's state of potential self-harm

Mahiru tried not to act superstitious, she really did. As much as she loved the idea of little luck charms, or avoided easy signs of misfortune, it was easier to keep quiet about such ridiculous things.

Maybe catching a bride’s bouquet meant no guarantees; maybe there was no real harm in stepping underneath ladders, maybe a coin tossed into a fountain had no real magic to its wish. However, the one thing she knew for sure held power was a lucky presence. Being in the right place at the right time could alter everything. And today was the right time for something. There was this waiting in the air. The prison had been holding its breath. Mahiru knew it was time to release it all.

“You must be so lonely, why don’t you let big sis Mahiru keep you company?” She beamed at Amane.

She often recalled the good fortune that she and a certain young man had crossed paths on the university terrace. She used to laugh with him about the wonderful coincidence of bumping into each other outside of the bakery, then the convenience store.

Though she’d never spoken about it to him, she was also grateful for many occasions where she walked in on him at the precise moment to talk him out of something reckless. She always told him that they’d do everything together. He didn’t need to be alone anymore.

“I wish to be alone. I need peace of mind to think.” Amane turned away from the cell door.

It was a good thing, too. Mahiru’s smile wasn’t as convincing as she said, “o-oh. Of course.”

She made her way around the panopticon, hearing Fuuta pace his cell in anticipation. He must have felt it too, this holding of breath.

Or perhaps not. He turned down her offer for a bit of company, including a few more colorful words than Amane had. Mahiru just apologized for bothering him and headed back to her cell. She wasn’t sure where Mikoto was at this hour, but she didn’t feel like smiling through a third rejection.

She shook her head back and forth. She wished the motion could rattle the voices inside, she wished she could shake them all away. With her arms secured in place she could no longer cover her ears. She used to hum to keep them at bay, but lately they’d been too loud to stifle. They just kept on talking.

Their words told her the two were right. Nobody needed her company. No – nobody wanted it. Being together hadn’t helped her boyfriend. In fact, being together had been the very thing that got him killed. No wonder Amane and Fuuta wanted to avoid her.

So then, this was for the best. She would rather deal with the brief sting of refusal than stumble in one day to find them hurt… or worse. As much as she tried to avoid the superstition of it all, the voices reminded her that her very presence could mean life or death.

“Mappi, are you alright?” Mahiru hadn’t realized a tear had slipped down her cheek until she hurried to swipe it away in front of Yuno.

“Hah, I’m fine! Just fine.” It was impossible to fool her, Mahiru had learned, but that never stopped her from trying.

At least she always spoke tactfully. “Rough morning?”

Mahiru shifted her arms in her uniform, making a small sound of agreement.

“Can I do anything to help? What if I stay with you for a bit? I can do your hair, and…”

The voices were right. Amane and Fuuta knew it, too. Presences did hold power, and Mahiru’s was cursed.

But she would sound foolish admitting such a fear to Yuno. She'd heard plenty from the voices about how stupid and airheaded she was, there was no use in getting the same lecture from someone as grounded as her.

Mahiru managed a weak protest, unable to explain her real reasoning. Yuno was insistent. She didn’t give much of a choice. Could she feel the strangeness of the prison, as well?

At last, Mahiru allowed her shoulders to sag. Yuno was lucky. And kind. Having her nearby would do her good. Amane and Fuuta would be alright. Mahiru had tried spending more time with them after verdicts were announced. Now, she made a mental note to pull back. If her love couldn’t save anyone, at least she could spare them from her curse. They would be safe.

“Yes. Please stay. The truth is... I don't want to be alone.”

Sorry but am I the only one that thought that episode…sucked? Like it was straight up bad. Horrible pacing, no wrap up of all the random characters and plot lines they’ve thrown around all season (the tuskegee airmen, Westgates spying, literally all the guys beside like the main 4). (Seriously it makes me so mad that the three redtails got all of 5 seconds of screen time, almost no lines. Literally what was the point of introducing them other than to pretend the show was iNcLuSiVe) Even at the end of BoB and the Pacific you get a much better idea of what happened to all the remaining guys. In this they’re like what happened to DeMarco or Hambone or Brady or (insert character here) we don’t know! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The concentration camp scene felt shoehorned in compared to how it was done in BoB. Unless that actually happened to Rosie (which i haven’t heard anything about) but it was just like.. ok? It all felt so rushed and emotionless to me. Maybe I’ve just fallen out of love with MoTA but it’s been downhill for me since episode 6 or so.

i already made a little (read: long) post-finale write-up here, where i talk about the use of the tuskegee airmen, l'sandra, and overall editing/pacing issues i felt the show had. but i don't agree with the notion that adding the redtails was in any way insincere or trying to halfass being "iNcLuSiVe", i just think they suffer from this show's obvious time constraints. and to summarize what i wrote in my linked post, there's a limit to what white writers/directors/producers can do when creating a story about black people. there are some stories i'd feel uncomfortable with them telling on their own, truth be told. dee rees wasn't the sole nonwhite director, but she Was the only black one. i think she did her job well given the limitations and i appreciate that they let her direct those episodes, rather than leaving it up to a team of white people trying their best to tell a black story.

the worst i can say about the finale is that it didn't feel like That strong of finale, tho i wouldn't go as far to say it "sucked" or call it "straight up bad". i liked it plenty, it's just the weakest of the hbo war finales imo.

as for the concentration camp scene, artistic license was taken with both shows. unlike what's seen in the BoB, easy company wasn't the first to arrive at kaufering, and there's 0 mention of the all-japanese american 552nd who helped them liberate it). similarly, rosie rosenthal did assist in liberating those camps, though it would've been after the events shown this episode. idk if he saw one in that up-close way seen in this episode, but he could've (i should research this when i have time). plus, it would've felt weird Not having him acknowledge them at all. "shoe-horned" is an odd term to use here imo, as both scenes more-or-less center a jewish character (BoB's liebgott and MotA's rosie). the former show has survivors the characters can help, the latter shows no one left to help. the former has all of easy company there, the latter has rosie there all alone. rosie's scene felt deeply personal in that way. at the end of the day, both scenes are communicating different things. that doesn't make one better than the other when they aren't trying to be identical. (disclaimer, i'm not jewish, so i'd be interesting hearing from the perspective of someone who wrt whether or not they felt it was "shoe-horned")

i can understand if you've disliked the show post-episode 6 (and episode 6 was a very strong episode i'm ngl). eps 7 and 8 were weaker in many ways, even to me, so i get it. everyone's entitled to their own opinion (i'd be a hypocrite saying otherwise). just understand that this blog is run by someone who overall enjoys this show despite its flaws! basically, i encourage you to take this energy and make your own posts.

lowkey obsessed with kuro and shiro mujou. they're literally the 黑白无常 heibai wuchang of chinese folk religion, but re-imagined in a heian period japan setting so now they're shinigami, who were possibly themselves influenced by western concepts of the grim reaper (and kuro mujou's design reflects this, with his scythe). they're on like triple layers of folk religion psychopomp/death personification and i love it.

My 10 Favorite Aggressive Flirts in BL

Hi!! I haven't exactly answered a question like this, but I have left information on Suzie here and there. I'll use this as an opportunity to make a sort of "master post" with his information.

Suzuka is a 20 year old dragon-turtle Koopa, a species in scarce numbers (who age much slower than humans). He was born to Hikaru and Takashi Koopa, and has two younger sisters named Tina and Kiriko. His family on his mother's side is reputable for their family owned business of three generations, 大輔のトラディショナルウェア (Daisuke's Traditional Wear, founded by his great-great-great grandfather), a shop dedicated to handmade cultural crafts, clothes and accessories. He works and lives at their small shop/home with his mother and sisters in a busy place called Fōku City ("Folk City"). It is expected of him to inherit ownership of the shop when his mom retires, which won't be for many more years.

He and his relatives are Japanese. In this mysterious world that holds familiar places like the Mushroom Kingdom and the Dark Lands, they are all connected by pipes to the real world (obviously). Depending on where you are in this world, the pipes will lead you to the correlating location to our world. In the case of Fōku City, a pipe would lead to somewhere in Japan. It's not known how the creatures within the pipes have matching cultures, languages etc as us, it's just the way it is.

Suzuka's only other known relatives that are alive would be his grandmother, Sakura Koopa. As per Japanese culture, it is expected to care for the elderly... But his grandma refuses. She doesn't even live in the shop/house, she has her own apartment right across the street. She's always preferred to do things her own way, never letting anyone help her. Suzuka finds this behavior very strange, while his mother finds it very frustrating. Lol

To give a better idea about his family, here's a brief summary for them:

Hikaru Koopa: Only child growing up, now proud mother of three. She is very hardworking and will do *anything* to provide for those she loves. She may seem as though she has no patience for anything that isn't work related, but that is far from the truth. She is kind, happy, and remains calm, despite what inner stresses she bears. She is open minded and open hearted, and would enjoy your company over some afternoon tea.

Tina Koopa: Suzuka's younger sister at 16 years old. She is an aspiring pop singer with a quirky and short-tempered attitude. She doesn't take anyone's crap, and has eternal confidence in everything she cares about. She paints her claws red to strike your eye, determined to stand out regardless of where she is. She typically works alone, but enjoys collaborating with Suzuka when making music.

Kiriko Koopa: Suzuka and Tina's youngest sibling, age 9. She is an energetic young child who can't seem to sit still. She's very active, always finding something or someone to play with. Takashi Koopa: Oh boy, how do I drop this bomb on you... To put it simply, he's a deadbeat dad. He and Hikaru divorced after Kiriko hatched, when Suzuka was 14. His own children couldn't tell you much about him, as he was largely absent and unset on a personality when parenting. None of them have seen him since the divorce. Good riddance.

Akihiko Koopa: Suzuka's deceased grandfather. He passed when Suzuka was five, but his mother and grandma could tell you endless stories of him.

Alright, now about Suzie!!

Identity: Gay, asexual, apagender, and autistic. He/Him. 6 feet tall, still not done growing. Speaks English and Japanese.

He is a very talented craftsman who's passion in life is making music. His favorite instrument is the electric guitar, but he can also play the drums, a number of Japanese instruments, and has recently taken on the piano. Suzuka favors the guitar because that was the very first instrument he ever held; his father's acoustic guitar. His dad at least cared to teach Suzuka music as a child, which led to one of the many talents he bears today. His preferred genre is rock/metal, and his favorite band is BABYMETAL. He sings, too! His voice is as beautiful as his instruments.

His other hobbies include sketching, cooking, writing poetry, and learning.

His favorite things are: exploring, the colors magenta and warm yellows/oranges, pomegranate flavored blooming tea, the Spring and Summer seasons, and the food yakisoba.

Personality: You might think Suzuka has a lot to brag about with his many talents, but that couldn't be further from the case. Suzuka is one of those people that you meet who you claim to be the nicest person you've ever met. He is very humble, perhaps a little too much... But even so, he is an extrovert. He's almost always smiling, and any instances of him being angry are rare like a blue moon. He will always find a way to get along with you, even when it seems impossible.

The closer you get to him, however, the more you can see where his insecurities lie, and there's quite a few of them. He roots from what was once a shy, flustered and awkward kid with few people he could truly call his friends. His social awkwardness and lack of social awareness was apparent to everyone, it seemed, and as such he was often treated differently. It did not help to be told that the way he looked and the things he liked were a bit girly by father. It's not that his life was miserable and that he's depressed, it's just that he struggles more than you'd expect.

He's had a longing in his heart to share his love with someone he could call his own for a long time. Obviously, he's achieved that now, but before Ludwig, he had never dated in his life. Not to say he never found anyone he was interested in... Just don't ask him about that.

Overall, Suzuka is a happy koopa who knows the joys life has for him, even when everything seems so Impossible.

If you've read How Suzuka Met The Royal Family on my Wattpad, you already know how he and the Koopalings became friends. Well, after having dinner with them that night, he was actually texted by Iggy first! Iggy asked when they could meet again and if he liked robots... As you can guess, this leads to a cartoon episode summary that ends up bringing everyone closer to each other. But Izzy, how does he visit them so often if Fōku City and Bowser's Castle are a two days travel apart by foot (and Suzuka doesn't have access to a vehicle)? The Koopalings have magic that they use to open portals to teleport. Lol.

It is a concern of Suzuka's for what will happen to the family business when he takes over. He absolutely wants to, don't get him wrong, but seeing as he's going steady with Ludwig... What does that mean for the future? What if they eventually *live* together? Ludwig's family is his family, now, what if-? ... The list goes on.

There's a million other things I could say, but those are stories I should make individual posts for. Sorry for throwing this big ass answer at you 😭

i think my primary tip for reading is not very helpful. like with any hobby you have to set time aside for it and that can be hard, but its not a contest. reading is a personal experience and you shouldn’t compare how well you do it compared to others. i have been reading my whole life and grew up with a mother who loves to read, so i have been conditioned to set time aside for it. even if you only read 2 pages or 20 it is still progress.

Anyone here have art blog on twitter? Any advice so that your art will be more likely to be liked or retweeted?

I have recently made art blog on Instagram and Twitter and my Instagram has quite a bit of traction (dozens to hundred likes) but my Twitter with same posts hardly get any likes even though hundreds have seen the post?

And I add similar tags to both my Instagram and Twitter posts so Im pretty dumbfounded about this. Also strangely most Hetalia art blogs (ok I mostly follow rusame or amerus centric twitter users) on Twitter I discovered dont even tag their art and somehow they still get dozens to thousands likes/retweets.

Anw anyone who can enlighten me with this mystery pls do advise me how to solve this riddle, thanks in advance :'))

out of all the things i could hyperfixate on i didnt expect my next one to be a 200+ year old form of storytelling

#whoops sorry about the million line long tags ->#i didnt know rakugo also had (relatively more) serious stories????#i only knew the famous ones like manjuu kowai and meguro no sanma #and of course jugemu jugemu gokou no surikire kaijarisuigyo no suigyoumatsu fuuraimatsu unraimatsu kuu neru tokoroni sumu tokoro yaburakouj #i can still recite the whole name btw (probably everyone with a japanese elem education had to memorize it lol)#but anyways i realized that the song shinigami by yonezu kenshi is based on an actual rakugo story #and decided to watch it (the one on tatekawa shiraku's youtube)#and wow i got hooked #in the middle of tatekawa danshi's version rn #the differences in the story and general style are really interesting even between master and disciple #ill probably look for another version of shinigami by someone else and then look for other stories #or review the classics bc i barely remember anything about meguro no sanma tbh #i have had interest in koudan (since around the time kanda hakuzan started appearing on tv frequently)#but im still unsure of what the genre is like/how exactly the stories different from rakugo #so maybe ill dabble. just as a treat #i remember hakuzan did a koudan story about joushima shigeru's life and that was really interesting #speaking of joushima its still wild to me that tokio (as a band) isnt a thing anymore #i mean im still not entirely over nagase kun leaving for solo lol #but its so cool theyre making a whole ass company and still doing so much stuff in tetsuwan dash n stuff #why am i talking about tokio this post is about rakugo #anyways

Here is my piece for today, which is the thirteenth day of the month! ..I didn't actually plan for it to feature my selfship with Aqua due to the significance of the number thirteen to Kingdom Hearts, but that's ended up as a very nice coincidence, haha. It depicts Aria's bequeathing ceremony, as she had lost the ability to wield a Keyblade upon entering her new body. However, Aqua's status and power as a Keyblade Master allows her to perform an inheritance ceremony to grant Aria the ability again - it's a very special event ^-^
