This year, I managed to read 30 books, a lifetime record for me!! To celebrate, I wanted to share my top 6 favorites, in no particular order 📚
1. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid (9.5/10)
2. Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia (10/10)
3. The Grace Year by Kim Liggett (9/10)
4. Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston (9.5/10)
5. The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna (9/10)

i was beginning to worry while watching more of Resident Evil the Netflix series but it quickly picked up after Jade dropped the glass tube of green serum that attracts the zeroes. really enjoying the plot of the show overall and i'm hoping there will be more seasons to come depending on what others think of it. please give the show a chance, definitely a must watch even for just an average fan of the show like me. easy to keep up with!! lmao look at me going on and on... anywayssss, Bert seemed like the sweetest clone ever and i love how he wanted all the breadsticks and i honestly would love to have seen the waitress give him some more of them. Billie is still my fave as i'm now thirteen minutes into episode eight. <3 can we talk about Evelyn and if those joy pills work -- where can i get some, ha.

It Blursday!! 🖤💜
WE’RE TAKING THE SQUADDIES TO EISENGARD!
You don’t have to fill all the roles, and they don’t all have to be from the same WIP, but who’s:
the Ring-bearer, entrusted with carrying the One Ring (bonus: funniest instance they use it to nope right out of reality)
the “Sam”, armed with a frying pan and a wizard of potatoes
Sean Bean, who dies in every movie — falls victim to their own hubris
totally crushing on Arwen and has a really cool sword
AND MY AXE
AND MY GLOCK BOW
Merry and Pippin the “package deal”, very concerned about missing second breakfast
the dude with a sick staff and a concerning amount of explosives, may or may not be an actual wizard
— @outpost51
Happy Blursday!! I want you to know that I've been thinking about this question all day XD
So, the Harmont Heroes go to Eisengard! I love this prompt <3
The Ring-bearer, entrusted with carrying the One Ring (bonus: funniest instance they use it to nope right out of reality):
Max kinda takes after Frodo IMO, and I think the others would deem him the most trustworthy. He would take this duty extremely seriously, keeping the ring off his finger at all times—that is, until combat breaks out. It almost becomes a panic response. Anytime he's in danger—BOOM. Invisible. I think it would also be really funny if he just slipped it on anytime he felt like he was third-wheeling too hard on Harley and Jade. Just sliding out unnoticed and without confrontation.
2. The “Sam”, armed with a frying pan and a wizard of potatoes:
Sophia—which might seem like an odd choice until you remember how devoted she is to the people she loves. She will protect them until her last fighting breath.
3. Sean Bean, who dies in every movie — falls victim to their own hubris:
Bellona, stronger than the rest and too proud for her own good. Ultimately, she's her own undoing, which is ironic, since no one else seems able to take her down.
4. Totally crushing on Arwen and has a really cool sword:
Most likely Harley, since there's not much she wouldn't give for a cool sword (Jade is Arwen).
5. AND MY AXE:
Jet, 100%. Way too eager for action, but at least he's got the spirit!
6. AND MY GLOCK BOW:
Janus. Cool, collected, slightly unhinged, and ready to make it everybody else's problem.
7. Merry and Pippin the “package deal”, very concerned about missing second breakfast:
Ahren and August have BIG Merry and Pippin energy. On their own, they're both loyal and semi-competent, but once you put them in a room together, the brain cells cancel each other out.
8. The dude with a sick staff and a concerning amount of explosives, may or may not be an actual wizard:
Evelyn Cho, Max's mother. That woman may have a secret or two up her sleeve.

(is it rly a warning? idk. um anyway) cw : talking about resident evil show, NO SPOILERS HERE, i'm just ranting n raving n whatnot, i barely type w proper punctuation, ready your asshole for selective lowercase typing
ok so i've never seen a resident evil game playthrough in my life but?? that netflix show? was so?? good???
and ofc i gave myself time to think about the show and the possibilities of a next season and what would happen. then i realized that since it's based off a video game (?) a LOT of ppl would be giving it shitty reviews online just bc. and they were. honestly, it is quite unfortunate that ppl can't just take joy in things, like very good tv shows. even to someone with no context of the game, anyone could tell this series shows great effort in story/worldbuilding and casting.
and as far as casting goes?? they did not just bring in anybody, no no no. no matter what Siena Agudong is in, she's gonna give what needs to be given! and i knew Tamara Smart was gonna be up and coming after seeing Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting. the ppl on this show have show and movie credits ranging from Charlie's Angels to Riverdale to The Wire. all big names, and big for a reason. and i just CAN'T seem to get over Lance Reddick's performance in this show - the man is amazing.
anyway, with all that being said: Resident Evil is a great show, period. might rewatch it later. definitely finding the soundtrack too BC WHEW CHILE-

OKAY HI I WATCHED THE ENTIRETY OF NETFLIX'S RESIDENT EVIL (2022) AND I'VE PIECED TOGETHER HOW IT FITS INTO CAPCOM'S MAIN CONTINUITY
Obviously, there will be spoilers below the cut (both for the games and the show), so viewer discretion is advised. I'll be covering events where Albert Wesker is directly involved (given the series is focused around his work), though will make references outside where necessary.
Most of this has already been compiled by the fandom, so shoutout to y'all, I'll just add in the bits from the show where necessary/presumed while providing recaps of major relevant events.
Also, I should note, there are issues with the show in of itself, and they're unsurprising considering Netflix's track record with sensitivity adjustment and representation. I'm not here to excuse Netflix's decisions, the decisions of Capcom re: thematic elements of Resident Evil, nor any fictional entities. This is just a big dumb nerd lore post made by a big dumb nerd.
July 1978-1996 -> Wesker's Report II
Albert Wesker publishes several enteries in his journal detailing the history of t-Virus research at Arklay Laboratory. Here he discusses working alongside and studying the research of Birkin which, sidenote, I did not know was based on the Ebola Virus (though I suppose that makes sense all things considered, but I'm not exactly a scientist myself so it's news to me).
In this journal, he mentions an unnamed "her" that Birkin, Spencer, and Wesker did t-Virus experimentations on for 11 years (re: 1978 to 1989). It then goes on to detail interactions with Alexia; the first host of the T-Veronica Virus). At some point (around December 31st 1983), Wesker takes over the T-Virus's communicative infection research.
July 23–24, 1998 -> The Ecliptic Express Incident
An incident involving a train carrying Umbrella personnel is the result of the deliberate spread of the t-Virus. Wesker and Birkin send the U.S.S. Delata team to contain the matter, though the team is compromised.
July 24-25 1998 -> The Mansion Incident
A series of events occurs where the Arklay County police special forces investigate a series of murders in Arklay County. These deaths are the result of the escape of the same sentient research specimin that infected the Ecliptic Express. Wesker cuts off telephone access from the outside world in May to avoid information leaks. By the end of July, S.T.A.R.S. is deployed into the Arklay Mountains to investigate the Mansion, where Umbrella suggests Wesker enter the Laboratory, obtain bio-weapons data, and destroy it. Many incidents occur, including an encounter with the test subject, Lisa (full name: Lisa Trevor), and the uncovering of S.T.A.R.S' involvement in the Umbrella conspiracy. Wesker kills those who know, and eventually infects himself with a prototype virus (given to him by Birkin), which grants him the abiility to survive an otherwise fatal attack. It can be argued that this is the moment where Wesker realizes his "true" potential for immortality, or perhaps evolution to a "newer, better form of human".
July 24-25 1998 -> Archived Footage of Lisa
Within the Netflix series, we see footage of Lisa who, at the time of filming, was mutated beyond recognition. She is killed in this footage by Umbrella Operatives (a group accompanied by Wesker himself, who is heard as being the one to kill her). This is either after he fakes his death to regroup with Umbrella operatives, or during the time where he is considered alive by S.T.A.R.S, but separated from the group.
Late September, 1998 -> Raccoon City Destruction
An intense outbreak of the t-Virus leads to city wide destruction within Raccoon City. This outbreak leads to "Cannibal Disease", infecting the majority of the city's 100,000 people via contaminated drinking water. Arklay County becomes an exclusion zone, and the Pentagon coordinates military operations within the city to contain the situation and rescue uninfected survivros. Umbrella uses theincident as a test-bed for its Bio-Organic Weapons (re: Mr. X and Nemesis). Through the realization that the city cannot be saved, the President of the United States authorized the launch of experimental, thermobaric nuclear bombs. The CDC expands the exclusion zone to 200 miles around the city, and maintains for several years (no specific amount; though we can assume well into the 2000s given the progression of Chernobyl's own exclusion zones).
December 1998 -> The Rockfort Island Incident and Antarctic Outbreak
Rockfort Island: Wesker begins working with an unnamed Rival Company, having faked his death during the Mansion Incident and left Arklay County. His command team, the H.C.F. infiltrate Rockfort Island to recover research data regarding a unique t-Virus strain from Alexia's twin brother, Alfred. Umbrella is made aware of this, and releases housed B.O.Ws and allow the t-Virus to spread across the island. Claire Redfield escapes the island, Alexia is found out to be alive and in Antarctica, Chris Redfield learns that Wesker is alive. Most main cast characters are destined for Antarctica.
Antarctic Outbreak: Due to many escaped Rockfort Island personnel being unknowingly infected with the t-Virus due to its release, an outbreak begins. This results in the release of Black Widow B.O.Ws and, upon Wesker's arrival, more are released into the Antarctic Facility. Wesker, Chris, and Claire escape.
Unknown, 2002 -> Wesker Employs Jack Krauser
After Krauser began to obsess over the power of the Veronica Virus, while working with Leon Kennedy to destroy the virus (by order of the President) and Javier's cartel (key B.O.W buyers), seeks out Wesker. In order to do so, he fakes his own death. Wesker must have found his experience with the Virus valuable, as he employs Krauser as a mercenary.
February 2003 -> Wesker's Extra Report
Wesker details incidents within the Caucasus region of Russia, seemingly resembling the first murders in the Raccoon Forest (Arklay County). He also discusses Umbrella's struggles in staying afloat after the Raccoon City Incident, stating "Umbrella has boldly survived for the five years since Raccoon's annihilation. It is suggested that he was directly present, as well as having a noted confrontation with Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine.
Held responsible for the virus leak, and in spite of a plunge in their stock prices, they campaigned at the trial that it was all a U.S. government conspiracy and succeeded in buying time until the final death sentence."
Unknown, 1998-2003
Based on Wesker's approximate age during the events of Resident Evil (Netflix), as well as the ages of relevant characters, it is likely that in his control over the Arklay Laboratory, Albert Wesker begins examining the possibility of cloning. He uses himself as the primary testing subject, creating clones of himself. These clones have accelerated aging processes, allowing them to go from infantry to adulthood (approx. in the 20s range) within a matter of months. This would allow him not only to study the possibilities of human evolution, but provide him a capable research force. This most likely begins in his employment with the Rival Company, hence the years.
Autumn, 2004 -> Abduction of the President's Daughter
Albert Wesker orders Ada Wong and Jack Krauser to obtain samples of the Plaga, as well as handle other matters regarding key researchers within Spain. While not directly present, he remains in continual communication with the duo.
November, 2005 -> India BioTerror Attack, Harvardville Airport Incident, Air Dome Laboratory Incident
Several incidents occur globally, showing the true potential for destruction that the t-Virus, its strains and alternates, and B.O.Ws can achieve. During the Air Dome Laboratory Incident in particular, TRICELL purchases the WP Corporation after its bankruptcy (due to involvement with said incidents). TRICELL strikes a viral research agreement with Wesker, and enters the bioweapons black market as a means of supporting and financing his research into bioterrorism.
Unknown, 1998-2005
The Umbrella Corporation faces several incidents that ultimately result in its bankruptcy and demise. The last of its branches, located in Japan, goes into liquidation as of March, 2005, as no other corporation in the nation was willing to risk its reputation by buying it.
At some point, presumed around 2005, Evelyn Marcus assumes control of the remainders of Umbrella, though is not considered its CEO (most likely due to the fact it's hardly a corporation at this point) and attempts to restructure itself after this series of scandals (what exactly survived beats me, but clearly enough was salvageable to being these efforts; fascists be fascists and will always find a way to rally back together unfortunately).
Note: There is a lot of uncertainty regarding Umbrella and its evolution, so this part is mostly speculation based on the available information.
Unknown, 2005
At some point during his cloning experimentation, Umbrella learns of these efforts and raids the laboratory location (Arklay Mountains) where Wesker and his clones were. Most of the clones are killed, Wesker escapes, and the new Umbrella CEO (Evelyn) offers employment opportunities to Al and Bert, the two surviving clones. Al is given his own life, taking on the name Albert Wesker and being allowed to continue research regarding Jade and Billie. Bert is not granted these same opportunities, and is instead placed in charge of other research under Umbrella's continual supervision. Through their separation, Al believes Bert was killed.
August 2006 -> Raid on the Spencer Estate
Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield (prominent members of S.T.A.R.S) are sent to Spencer's estate to find information regarding the whereabouts of Wesker. He, unfortunately, beat them to the location and killed all of the guards, as well as Spencer himself. An intense fight ensues, and Wesker saves Jill (after appearing to have killed her) for his own research.
Unknown, 2008 -> Jade and Billie Wesker are Born
Given the research dates, there are two possibilities.
Firstly, Wesker simply lied about the girls' date of birth to align with their physcial ages. It is unclear whether the girls possess the same accelerated aging that Wesker's clones exhibit, as they could be "perfect" specimens where the aging process is accelerated but not drastically so.
Secondly, Wesker's consideration of Jade and Billie were thought out long before the actual "testing" (re: having surrogates deliver the girls). Jade and Billie could be generic names that he labeled other embryos with throughout intial research and experimentation.
Regardless, they are not raised by the "true Wesker", but one of his clones (Al).
March 2009 -> Kijuju Autonomous Zone Incident
A large-scale outbreak of the Plaga occurs in West Africa, the result of illegal human experimentation conducted by TRICELL Inc., Africa. This subdivision of TRICELL is brought by a terrorist group, who used the subdivision's resources to recruit a large army. Through investigation by the BSAA, Chris Redfield learns that Jill is alive. She is disguised, and controlled by Wesker via the P30 device. He rescues her and, in the process, Wesker is killed via incineration (re: volcano).
To break away and provide clarification, by 2006-2008, Albert Wesker (the "true" Wesker) is no longer involved with the research and development of cloning. Rather, Al Wesker (one of his cloes) assumes the role of head researcher under the administration of Umbrella. From this point foward, Wesker will be used in reference to Al, not Albert.
Unknown, 2005-2011 -> Albert Wesker conducts experimentation regarding Jade and Billie Wesker
Within the series, it is revealed that Jade and Billie Wesker are test subjects in cloning experimentation. The children, whom Wesker considers his daughters, are genetically modified in various ways (e.g., prolonged immunity to the t-Virus). Their blood allows Wesker to prolong the life of the clones. The listed dates come from a file box, labeled "Research: Z74 (2005-2011). J + B. EXAM: 47".
Considering Albert Wesker's death, we will be jumping forward considerably.
Unknown, 2020-2021 -> Evelyn Marcus formally becomes the CEO of Umbrella.
Unknown, 2022 -> The Weskers move to New Raccoon City (South Africa), where the newest Umbrella HQ is situated.
Wesker assumes an executive position within the HQ, taking over research regarding the evolved t-Virus and an experimental drug, Joy. Jade and Billie are enrolled within the local school system.
Billie became the target of persistent physical and cyberbullying. After witnessing further bullying on their second day, Jade purposely assaulted one of the bullies while wearing a costume and planted it in Billie's locker in an attempt to give her a reputation. The stunt almost resulted in Billie's expulsion and criminal charges, though was settled by their father's intervention.
In the evening following the assault, Jade and Billie reconciled and began plans to infiltrate Umbrella HQ, having learnt from Billie that the company was conducting animal testing. While Billie focused her attention on taking photographic proof of animal testing, Jade instead used her father's passwords to read top-secret company files where she discovered information on the 1998 Raccoon City incident, which had been successfully covered-up. While preparing to leave the lab, the two were attacked by an escaped mutant doberman and were chased back to the ground floor. When their attempts to hide in offices failed, they ran for the entrance instead. During their escape, however, Billie was mauled by the dog and Jade had to bash it to death with a fire extinguisher. Billie is infected with the t-Virus. Umbrella's U.S.S. operators make their way to the building but the pair is found first by their father who offers to perform emergency surgery himself at home, unwilling to risk them going to Umbrella's hospital. At home, Wesker attends to Billie, and is forced to explain to the girls that the dog was being treated for a "rare genetic disease" and demands the girls to never mention trespassing, warning them that Umbrella was working on classified "government" projects which risk would guarantee a severe punishment if discovered.
There's a lot that happens throughout the series, but long story short: Jade and Billie end up learning the truth behind their existence, their father's, and how far Umbrella's experimentation goes. During this time, they also learn that Billie is seemingly immune to the t-Virus, as after the standard 72-hour time period, she does not lose her higher functioning and shows minimal signs of illness. They are taken in by Evelyn, who further cements the truth by forcing them to watch as Wesker injects Jade's blood to combat the symptoms of his condition. The girls are then brought to their home to gather their belongings and rejoin Wesker as Umbrella prisoners (alongside Bert, who is alive and who temporarily supervised over the girls as to avoid raising alarms into what happened with their father).
While home, Jade and Billie devise an escape plan, using the emergency pack left behind by Wesker. As they exit the home, the Umbrella agent accompanying them kidnaps Billie. Jade is able to flee, and goes to Simon (a friend whom helped her circumvent Umbrella's security countless times in her mission to find the truth). He aids her, though upon infiltrating the HQ, is bitten by Billie and infected with the t-Virus. Going to his mother, Evelyn, for aid, he is shot and killed. Jade, Bert, and Billie set off an explosion and flee, where they end up in contact with Ada Wong (a contact of Wesker's, presumably having come into contact with her after the news of Albert's death).
Unknown, 2022-2036 -> Billie and Jade Saga
During his imprisonment with Umbrella, Wesker dies due to unknown circumstances (most likely due to the effects of accelerated aging without access to the cure; re: his daughters' blood).
At some point after their escape, the sisters return to New Raccoon City several months after "The Fall", the mass viral event which leads to the worldwide "zombie apocalypse" showcased within the series. Circumstances considered, Billie began to see the appeal in Umbrella's attempts to "restore humanity" through carving out its own nation. Billie and Jade see each other less and less, and (by 2026) Billie takes her father's position within Umbrella. She resumes the research on Joy. By 2036, Billie assumes control of Umbrella after continually spiking Evelyn's drinks with drugs and placating her to the point where she issues orders on Billie's behalf.
Tumblr media
Unknown, 2036 -> The Apocalypse Saga
Billlie begins to show degenerative symptoms brought on by the reactivation of the t-Virus within her. Understanding what their blood did for Wesker, she begins hunting for Jade with the belief that blood transfusions can mitigate or eliminate the effects of the t-Virus.
Jade is eventually found on a ship, titled The University, after an earlier confrontation in France allowed Billie to insert a subdermal tracker into her sister. Upon Jade's final capture, Jade releases a highly potent pheremone which allows hundreds, if not thousands, of zombies to hone in on the Umbrella camp on-shore. Thinking she could gain control over the situation, Billie jumps into action to hold off the zombies alongside her sister. Unfortunately, as part of a deal (and research development by Jade in her time with The University), a giant, pulse-controlled crocodile made its way ashore. Jade uses this opportunity to return to to the ship, climbing aboard with the help of her husband, Arjun.
The crocodile is killed via helicopters, and Billie finds that Jade and her daughter, Bea, survived the incident. Billie knows her survival was a result of their mutated genetics and, knowing she could be a cooperative and viable blood donor, shoots Jade in the abdomen to prevent her rescue. Billie takes Bea, and flies off as Jade struggles (and manages) to get back up, surviving the shot.
… And that's it. Yep. That’s all of it. Because Netflix has announced the cancellation of the series, due to "… not [having] a particularly strong showing on Netflix’s Top 10 and cost vs. viewing is the streamer’s leading renewal criterion."
