I hate........how sexualizing teenage superheroes is the norm in the superheroes fandom at large.Forgive me for traumadumping ig but i have really strong feelings on this as an autistic adult with a special interest in superheroes at large themselves and itself as a genre

My first hero spin was Big Hero 6.By the time it came out,i was 13 so i was allowed internet access no problem and naturally i went looking all over for content of literally everything about it but my favorite character was Hiro so he was what i searched for the most and he was LUDICRIOUSLY objectified and fetishized for his wasian heritage and when the series came out,he got an official love interest named Karmi who's 16 to his 14 and she got tons of hate from Hiro x Gogo and Hiro x Honey shippers despite them not only being college aged to his again,FOURTEEN years but we got explicit ages for them in season 2 when the Nerd Gang minus him gratuated from SFIT so they're canonically TWENTY ONE(i feel it's an important sidenote that Karmi's brownskin with a hooked nose and her VA is indonesian/chinese mixed so her heritage is obvious and as to how it contributed to her reception vs easian Gogo and blonde light-eyed Honey)

My second one was Bnha and there's been tons of discussion about the base's problem with the UA students and Himiko and i thank everyone who's posted about it deeply but my specific one is that my otp of the series was and will always be Shouto and Momo aka Todomomo even if i'm not nearly as into Bnha as i used to be because they were the first ship i actively made content for and it lasted years and that combined with me headcanoning them as bi4bi,t4t and autistic4autistic helped my egg crack and realize my own autism big time so their relathionship eternally has a big place in my heart

This means i've witnessed grown ass people saying Shouto almost touched Momo's boobs in that cap where he stopped her during their Aizawa fight(and his hand didn't even land on her chest)as a running thing and same for him acting as a macho man who rules over her body so she can't wear what she wants or exist near other men,including BAKUGOU who Momo HATES IN-TEXT,or have conflict with him because he'll just 'put her in her place as his woman' and Momo who's thee 'silk hiding steel' character and has adultification trauma that triggers her anxiety as the plot of the Todomomo starter 'Yaoyorozu Rising' with Shouto helping her with words of affirmation,healthy communication and good boundries on both sides that became the foundation of their dynamic throught the whole franchise,manga and extras,is reduced down the 'the class mom to Iida's class dad' as if she's ever even looked in his general direction and when she's rightfully earned her place as Shouto's best friend alongside Izuku himself and that is INSANELY imppressive taking into account her limited screentime.All i wanted was them being goth bf x pastel gf and getting to heal their inner child together and what i got was a nsfw Todomomo week on twitter and a certain artist drawing Momo/Dabi as an 'April Fool's' joke MULTIPLE YEARS in a row because he's also a Todoroki so it's also Todomomo lololol and i also did her with Natsuo and Fuyumi,i'm so funny!The only good thing to come out of that i started spite headcanoning Momo and Dabi as found siblings and platonic soulmates and realized i was actually on point

Then i watched Batman:Under The Red Hood when i was 19 and Jason became a character i selfship with romantically so i did the logical thing and started reading comics,starting with his.Did you know it's canon that while he dosen't exactly hunt them down specifically,he hates pedophiles and incesters so he once targeted a teacher because he was csa'ing one of his student's and expressed disgust at the thought of kissing any of his brothers based off them being brothers?You wouldn't know either of these things off fanon alone,you'd think he was creepy older guy who seeks out younger people on purpose when he dosen't seek anybody out period and that's his canon relathionships coping mechanism and it's also canon he couldn't talk to girls and pushed a guy off a roof for running a sex ring as Robin.As ROBIN,a fucking 11-15 year old Jason had that much of a moral backbone and willingness to take action in it yet everyone thinks he'd date a CHILD,even HIS OWN UNDERAGED SIBLINGS,with taking advantage of them as the appeal

I absolutely loved Into The Spiderverse as an afrolatino like Miles who was a troubled kid like he is too and i thought Gwen was super good too and Peter B's another character i selfship with romantically so naturally i was hyped for Across and the first thing the fandom did when the trailer dropped?Make a hyperpopular meme where that sweet,soft,wholesome scene where Gwen gets cheeky and looks through Miles' sketchbook and sees he's so in love with her he dedicated it's entierty to her just existing as herself into him seeing her as nothing but a sexual object with degrading features she does not have and it was a sick joke on Gwen because the boy she loves just wants her for sex and not even for what she actually looks and that just makes it even worse!!!Then there's the equally pure implied thing they did of her either stealing Hobie's sweaters because he makes her feel safe after her abusive dad kicked her out for being trans or him giving them to her to borrow as affection that ALSO got twisted into Gwen being nothing but a sex object,by people who see Hobie's age interpretation not even as a minor but in his 20s unlike how actual Ghostpunks do!!!!!!!,and don't think i haven't seen the Margo shit calling her 'thicc' and turning the girls into Miles' 'harem'

And the thing that made realize this is that it's always been like this is when i went looking for Teen Titans screenshots,first Starfire and Blackfire for me and my little sister and then ones of the animated Titans in general for my little brother because he did an edit-redraw of our DC self-inserts together using one so i got excited at how good it was and decided to ask for a few more since we have friends who have DC ocs too and we're all doing a canon rewrite fixit with them but the first results were fucking incest softcore porn and TOO DAMN MUCH horny Bbrae fanart.One of the friend's in question is like another brother to me and he's 17 and he thought there was nothing wrong with Jason/The Fenton Siblings because when i said find it triggering just in general,he tried to explain that i was 'making the wrong assumption' because a lot of people age up Danny and Jazz and he'd learned that from older DPDC fans.They literally groomed him and i'm so glad i met him and helped him unlearn that shit before he could get hurt

Go bother the idol industry, people. Or go harass Korea about mandatory conscription since that's often what pushes the debut ages so low. All of us who like idols are complicit in a deeply troubling industry. It's like these dumbasses want to wipe clean their own guilt by transferring it to some artist who was drawing other teenagers their own age.

I suppose one could call those archetypes stereotypes... but they're not gay stereotypes. People might stereotype goths as being bisexual, but they don't stereotype bisexuals as being goths. They should though. You should see my Daljeets boots.

Joking aside, you are correct about this situation. A lot of us hardline anti-censorship people were horrified at the time this was more actively going down and did talk about it. Of course, it never penetrated the thick skulls of any of the people howling about him.

Fundamentally, they're probably angry because he's popular for his art and they are not. It's jealousy, not activism.

If he were a fetish artist going "I do what I like!" and drawing tentacle rape, these little pustules would never have started bothering him. It's because he draws the fluffiest, most toothless webtoon ever and because he's young and trans and vulnerable.

Nuclear Fanfare

This is the second of several posts dedicated to introducing my dearly beloved original characters so that I may talk about the more in the future.

Part One

Warning: The post below the cut has mentions of car accidents and medical malpractice. There isn’t anything particularly graphic, but please stay safe.

Status: planning

Medium: script

In an America where creative expression is stifled and monopolized by self-serving corporations, breaking into the scene as an independent is no small task. Tank Kim O'neel, along with his band Nuclear Fanfare, must navigate the perils of the entertainment industry with only the music in their hearts.

Characters:

Tank Kim O’neel, demigender (he/him, zey/zem), bisexual, disabled (Deafness and autism), Korean Irish American, Buddhist (4033-40??)

She’s A Rebel by Green Day Tank held a steadfast dream of becoming a musician, even after being blacklisted from the industry for hosting an alien parasite. He founded Nuclear Fanfare with the intention of realizing his dream with like-minded individuals. Fact: Tank has had cystic acne on zeir face since zey were a teenager. He used to hate himself for it, but has come to terms with his appearance.

Siren Rosenberg, demigender (she/her, they/them), bisexual, disabled (mute), Black American, Jewish (4032-4???)

Art-I-Fical by X Ray Spex Siren had long been an independent visual artist, but after a corporation experimented on her comatose body without her consent, she vowed to cause as much trouble for them as possible. She joined Nuclear Fanafre after tagging Tank’s studio, thinking it was an abandoned building. Fact: In their youth, Siren was a part of a fairly infamous graffiti duo.

Muhammad Lestari, transgender (she/her), heteroace, disabled (type one diabetes), Indonesian American, Muslim (4033-4???)

Transgender Dysphoria Blues by Against Me! Ever since Lestari was young, she understood that fast fashion had no intention of catering to people like her, so she sought to create her own fashion brand to express her style. She joined Nuclear Fanfare after Tank commissioned custom clothes from her. Fact: Lestari’s dream is to own her own boutique on the coast.

Yu Mi Lee, cisgender (she/her), lesbian, disabled (autism), Korean American, Agnostic (4032-4???)

Kiss Them for Me by Siouxsie and the Banshees Yu Mi was raised a Hollywood starlet, acting in films alongside her brother Howard, but a series of increasingly demanding projects wore down her health, forcing her into an early retirement. She joined Nuclear Fanfare after answering a call for a cinematographer for the band’s music videos. Fact: Yu Mi loves goth music and dances at goth nightclubs to unwind.

Howard Truman, transgender (he/him), biace, disabled (autism and ASPD), Korean American, Agnostic (4032-4???)

Hollywood by Car Seat Headrest Howard was raised a Hollywood starlet but from a young age rejected the lifestyle, eventually culminating in him stabbing a director and being blacklisted for his attitude. He joined Nuclear Fanfare after Lestari convinced him to try music as an outlet for his frustrations with the entertainment industry. Fact: Howard legally changed his last name as a rejection of his parents, who he views as responsible for his childhood trauma.

Dalisay Fontana, butch (she/her), lesbian, disabled (surgical amputee), Filipino American, Catholic (4031-4???)

Cilantro by Patricia Taxxon After an accident stole her best friend and her dominant hand, Dalisay began to obsess over her artistic work as a way to cope, which earned her a fine arts scholarship and a gallery position. She learned of Nuclear Fanfare after a one night stand with Yu Mi. Fact: While pink is publicly her signature color, Dalisay actually prefers teal.

Note

A new queer show came out called Heartstopper and it takes place in a high school setting. Its follows the conventional romance tropes you see in every high school setting and is wholesome. People seem to be praising the show and the show writer is even queer. Pretty cool right?

The problem I have? These are the same people who hated the webcomic Boyfriends and continuously misgender and threaten the Indonesian, transman creator with violence. The creator of Boyfriends lives in a homophobic country and its obvious its a escapist fantasy to distract from his irl situation. Yet the people attacking him and the comic it is fetishizing gay men. They even misgender the trans character Goth. They make memes where they wish to brutally attack the character, Nerd. They pull out every TERF rhetoric they can as they wave pride flags.

The difference between the two creators? Heartstopper's creator is openly against BL/mlm. TERFs love her because she is an open aroace, white American, cis woman. They make transphobic tik toks about the show. And it's absolutely vile to me.

Personal: The New Meds Turn On Me

The new meds side effect wave hit hard and dangerous Thursday, but I'm not sure it didn't start a lot earlier.

Okay, so I had a viscous headache last Friday night for about three hours, which didn't particularly shock me, as my body just does stuff like that. Same Saturday. Normal. Sunday. Monday. I made a note to mention it to the doctor Tuesday morning, but forgot. I noticed Tuesday's headache at the same time was absolutely crushing for three hours, then shut off like a faucett as if it had never been. Which is creepy and wrong. So I'm now weighing if the new meds improvement is worth creepy three hour debilitating headache every day, and if I should call it in the next day.

So Wednesday I wake up to one of my body is very, very bad days. which is a thing that happens sometimes, especially if my body's been to far which between the uncleaner and the extreme heat and this being the worse time of year for my allergies and assorted RL commitments including the doctor is not weird. Plus I'm... I forget how many days in on struggling to type on Klaus Laptop because its hard to lift my arm the extra nine and a half inches, and i'm mostly having to drink with a straw because i go half my wake cycle not being ably to lift a full glass of water that high and I'm dropping things because my arms are fucked. which happens. All of it really stresses out my body though, you follow?

So sometimes the alarm goes off because I have to go somewhere and my body nopes out of it, or tries to. So I'm exhausted. I have the shakes. I end up way late to pick up Goth Millennial because it's just that hard to move. So I drive Goth Millennial around and wait in the car while they do errands. Goth Millennial goes outside to putter in the garden. I lung, then take a nap, all with Tavy glued to my chest, because it's sometimes better after a nap. Resets everything to a more acceptable level of crappy.

I make it all the way up to minimally functional by the time the other Millennials arrive for dinner. One of them had brought pre-marrinated and cooked tofu. Me: I think we should make rice for it. With coconut milk and saffron and Turmeric. New Millennial: Oooo! That sounds delicious! Me: It's possible I'm edging up towards Indonesian happy rice except I don't have any lemon grass. But I do have Bay leaves.... So it ends up with New Millennial Making Rice and the two of us keep consulting on spices until i have to lie down again. The results we excellent.

Tavy is still clearly traumatized from the Uncleaner. He loves techie Millennial. Techie Millennial was the first visitor he let pet and play with him. He hid from the Millennials when they arrived after nap time. He did eventually come out and watch them for a bit and even rubbed against Techies legs, but ran if it even looked like someone might tough her. I'm still so angry about the uncleaner traumatizing him like this.

Really, I just wanted to go to bed after they left, but I needed to stay up for the morning allergy treatment. My body was really not moving well, but I dragged myself there and back, which nearly did me in. I did manage to prep for bed and climb in, which really fucking hurt, at which point the first wave of hallucinations and fast heartbeat and arrhythmia hit. So that was fun. Me: Guess that's it for new Meds. They were amazing while they lasted.

They must have been really busy at the doctor because they didn't get back to me until afternoon. I left a message for my doctor's nurse, conveying that I was having severe side effects and needed to know if I should go to the ER. No one ever got back to me. The heart stuff got really bad for four or five hours, always with visual hallucinations. I thought about calling for help, but my right arm wasn't working and my left wasn't great either, and it's usually eight hours minimum to get seen at the ER and they yell at you if you bring in chest pains that turn out not to be a heart attack, and the pain only happened when I moved so it was likely just torso muscles screaming about my arms.

But the supper high irregular heart beat for hours can't be good. I wrote this waiting for receptionist call back Friday morning. I was 36 minutes in on the wait as I typed this sentence. I really think they should check my heart, but if they are this busy... Yeah. I'm assuming if it was really dangerous, they'd return my call from yesterday instead of continuing to ignore my message.

College first-year Romeo Adachi has a complex about his first name. So does Juliet Oyamada, who is a year older than him. One day they meet, and end up hating each other. Then they find out each other’s first name… and chaos ensues.

Romeo and Juliet hate each other, but can’t seem to ever be separated.

At the hidden magic college they go to, only 10% of the current student body is male. Romeo has a long time crush on the cheerful and sporty girl, Ririka.

In Romeo’s class, there are 5 boys and 25 girls.

Romeo is an extremely plain guy surrounded by 25 crazy girls of all kinds of tropes. This manga is kind of a parody and the tropes are played with.

The girls also all seem a bit bisexual.

So I'm writing a story about a group of children that are students at a prestigious private boarding school and run the school's newspaper club that accidentally summoned a demon and the rest of hell (You can ask). The characters and their shenanigans are based around common cliché's and troupes but my way and slightly better. I'm in the (painful) process of writing the story and when I finish it I will post it on AO3 and share it here.

Anyways, these are my precious babies that I'm about to traumatize. These are just the main characters (meaning they are the heads of the newspaper club) because I have far too many for this one post...

Lilith Arondottir (She/Her)

Based around the Nerd Girl, main protagonist, head of the club's student submission's section

A sarcastic and intelligent Neurodivergent with a love for forensic science, guns, video games and fanfiction. She's a little sassy but mostly blunt and doesn't sugar coat and has severe social anxiety. She hates people and is mostly just tired. She is also very petty and fueled with spite. Will start throwing hands if frustrated enough. Hates swearing. She tends to be a tad self-sacrificing and almost deathly loyal. She's Indonesian but was adopted by an Icelandic gay couple and spent about half her life in Iceland. She's also a lesbian who falls in love with her academic rival.

Reads fanfiction. Mainly fluff, some dark shit, and smut (but like a good fanfiction reader, will never admit that)

The school is a school filled with rich people. Lilith is a scholarship student so while the others are rich as fuck, she is a lowly commoner

She is described to have an unsettling looking smile

She once built a huge glitter bomb when she was 8 and gave her two dads a heart attack

Lucas Estefan Escarra (He/Him)

Based around the theater kid and 'quirky' best friend cliché, protagonist's best friend, club president and management (manages expenses, advertisements, and printing)

The dramatic and over the top theater kid that Lilith calls her best friend. He is sassy and he loves music (especially Broadway musicals). He is also very petty and very competitive in all that he does. He is much more social and charming. He was neglected in favor of his Mary Sue sister whom he despises and wants to out do her. He's Mexican and is very open about the fact he's aro/ace.

Based around the rebellious goth characters, club's vice president and head of documentation and design

The rebellious little goth girl. She's short and violent with major anger issues and tends to be an asshole. Reckless and an adrenaline junky who just wants to have fun and chaotic. She's the violent and angry little sister but definitely has a soft side underneath all the black. She's a French demi-girl who is bisexual. She's also deaf and communicates through lip-reading, text-to-speech device, writing in her notebook, and sign language.

Very good and fighting and she loves getting into fights in general

She is very good at street art and skate-boarding

Has four overprotective older siblings (Clarkson, Cherisse, Charlie, Charlize)

Casually has a baseball bat and pepper spray hidden in her dorm room

Based around the popular girl troupe, the head of student run columns and runs her own column (gossip).

She is one of the most popular girls in school. She's pretty and she's threatening but is very kind and sweet. She is sassy and adores gossip and rumors but is also very caring and protective and very responsible. She is a perfectionist. Loves fashion design, jewelry, dresses, shoes, and make-up. She is a Vietnamese who is also a closeted pansexual.

Is very good at sewing and loves making dresses and other types of clothing

Likes cooking and baking and the club loves her food

Was taught self-defense so she is actually very good at using a dagger

Does spend a lot of time on social media but always finds something funny to make the others laugh

Koen Garner (He/Him)

Based around the jock troupe, head of announcements and advertisements.

He is a strong and athletic guy who is super super tall. He is on the basketball team and is very good at the game and is described to be good looking. He is a complete sweetheart and kind and always wants to make his friends happy. He's not the smartest but does his best and has a huge collection of plushies that the club likes to steal from. He is an Aboriginal Australian guy and is an openly gay guy.

Is an amputee and has a prosthetic leg

He is on the school wrestling team

Pigeons and other animals are terrifying (I'd like to remind that he is Australian so it seems fair that he'd be scared)

He's strong enough to pick the other club members up, and usually has to pull Carina away before she gets into a fight
