Lewis Hamilton was many things. A Formula 1 driver, a seven time world champion, an idol, an inspiration to many young kids, but most of all, he was a husband and father to three girls. His family was everything to him. He enjoyed being a dad to his three precious girls.

Maeve was his oldest. She was born on a sunny day in 2013. Then came his second, Violet, born in 2017. Violet instantly became Maeve’s best friend. Lewis and Y/n were thankful that Maeve didn’t go through a jealous phase. Lastly, came their third girl, Gracie, born in early 2020.

The Hamilton girls would join their father in the paddock when they didn’t have school. Dressed in Mercedes merch, they walked hand in hand with their mother to the Mercedes garage. The entire team loved them, it was impossible not to.

“Dad! I really want lemonade!” Violet poked Lewis’ side until he payed attention to her.

“There’s no lemonade here. Have some water.” Lewis suggested, but Violet frowned. Lewis didn’t want his daughter to be upset so he directed the girls to Mercedes hospitality in hopes that someone could make the girls a lemonade. In the end, his three daughters ended up with their lemonade.

At one point, they even because Twitter famous whenever they were at the races. Violet had a habit of sleeping even before the race ended so when the camera showed Lewis celebrating his win, the camera panned over to Lewis’ family showing little Violet asleep with her mouth slightly open in her mom’s arms.

Maeve was half asleep, but she still made a heart with her hands. Gracie was with her grandma, but you were pretty sure she was asleep as well.

But when they weren’t attending races, the Hamilton girls were back in school. Whenever Lewis had time off, he would pick up the girls from school, giving you some time to yourself. He knew how the school pickup process was, what he didn’t know was how long it would take. When it was finally his time to park in front of the school, a teacher walked up making Lewis roll down the window.

The teacher was taken by surprise when she saw Lewis. “Um . . Who are you here to pick up, sir?”

“Maeve and Violet Hamilton.” He replied. Then the teacher nodded and walked back to the school. Seconds later, his two girls walked patiently towards their dad’s black Mercedes. Lewis could feel the other parents staring at him. It wasn’t everyday that Lewis Hamilton came to a children’s school.

Maeve opened the backseat door and climbed in along with Violet. They looked exhausted, probably from all the running they did during recess.

“How was school?” Lewis asked as he drove away.

“We went to the library today and I got a book. It’s about sports and your face is in it.” Violet said as she got the book out from her backpack.

“Really? What does it say?” Lewis questioned, curious as to what the book said. The girls weren’t really interested in formula 1, so he was confused as to why Violet even checked out the book.

“It says you won seven titles and then i stopped reading because I was bored. I only got it because I wanted to show you and mom that uncle Nico was in the book too.”

His girls always made him laugh. They could brighten up his day even if he was at his lowest. He was such a proud dad too, often bringing up his daughters during interviews and posting pictures of them on instagram. During his Jimmy Kimmel interview, he took any chance he got to talk about his family.

“And do your daughters understand that their dad is a seven time world champion?” Jimmy asked.

Lewis chuckled. “They don’t really care.” He said then the audience, along with Jimmy, laughed. “No, they know what I do for work, but when they were younger they thought I sold cars.”

“You sold cars? How did they come up with that?” Jimmy laughed.

“Their mum explained that I work with cars, that was all, so they assumed I sold cars because at home I have several. Then I think it was the Monaco Grand Prix where they finally got an understanding of what exactly I do. They watched the race and when it was over, I asked them what they thought of it and all I got was ‘I don’t know’ and that’s when my wife said that halfway through the race they asked her for her phone so they could watch their cartoons.” Lewis explained.

He remembers that day clearly. The girls weren’t interested in cars, they rather watch reruns of Gravity Falls. He wasn’t mad either, he was glad that they didn’t get frustrated and start causing chaos around the paddock.

Him mentioning his girls because a regular thing. During press conferences, he was often asked about his girls, more specifically if they would follow his footsteps into the world of F1.

“They don’t even care about the races.” Lewis said as the other drivers bursted out laughing. “My oldest, Maeve, she did have a phase where she liked cars, but she’s transitioned into learning about dinosaurs. She says she wants to be an paleontologist so I don’t have to worry about her.”

“Her birthday is coming up, no?” Max asked. “I’ll buy her one of those fossil kits. I think she’ll love it.”

“And what about your other daughter?”

“She falls asleep every time, I don’t think we will see her racing anytime soon. I’m telling you, they don’t care.” Lewis laughed.

“They don’t care about your world titles?” Charles asked smiling.

“They don’t care! To them, I’m just their dad. They’re like ‘daddy, I need my lemonade now’ it’s kinda funny actually. But I love my girls.”

The Hamilton girls loved their dad to death, it was clear, even if they didn’t care about his world titles or his reputation in F1. He was the best dad to them and that was all they cared about.

“Can you just hear me out-“ “no.” “Please! Just one!”

Sitting on the bed in Jacks room of their shared apartment, Jack throws his head back with an irritated groan. “Luke, I’m not going to keep arguing with you about this shit. We can’t have a dog. Who’s going to watch it? And clean up after it? We’re both professional hockey players and have zero time for an animal.”

With a pout, Luke hesitates before speaking again. “I’ll clean up after them! And I’ll spend all the time with them!” “Luke no. We have a game tomorrow. Go to bed.”

“Why am I even asking! I’m a grown man. I’ll just get one and bring it home.” “I wish you fucking would.”

Luke storms out of Jacks room and heads to his own. Immediately getting on his phone and ranting to Quinn about his problems, Jack turns his body and sighs.

“…what’s going on with the Hughes’?” “Apparently Jack said no to a dog. Luke’s not taking the rejection well.”

The two brothers glare at each other from across the locker room, Luke tightening his laces and Jack grabbing his stick. He mouths an ‘I’m not changing my mind. No dog.’ And Luke huffs before walking out.

“…..well, he’ll get over it soon.” Nico says, patting Jack on the back and he just frowns. “Why is he so insistent on a pet all of a sudden? I mean, you understand why I’m saying no right?”

“Yes, I understand. But I can also see his side. You two will come to a compromise eventually. Let’s not worry about this stuff and just focus on trying to win the game tonight, okay?” Nico says and with a nod, both boys walk out of the room and onto the ice.

Everything was going well at first, Jack had even scored a goal! But it’s like this week just wasn’t on his side. The opposing team began crushing them after the first quarter, swiftly taking out their team with a score of 3-1.

On top of the crushing loss, it was pouring rain outside. And his umbrella broke, which meant he had to walk in the rain, with his brother who’s mad at him, after he loses a game. Great.

Both boys get to the car cold and covered in water—not a word spoken between the two. Luke closes his door shortly after Jack does and it’s pure silence between the two. Jack starts the car and turns the heat up to the max before driving off and making his way home.

“Hey luke?” “…yeah?” “I’m sorry. I’ve been really stressed out and honestly I don’t think it’s good for us to be arguing over something so stupid. Maybe we should get something to eat-” bark! Jack’s eyes snap over to Luke and suddenly it feels like the car is at 100 degrees.

“What was that.” “What was what…?” Bark! Comes from Luke’s side of the car once again, this time Jack can faintly see something moving inside of his jacket.

“Luke.” “….listen! Do you see how hard and cold it it outside? Poor thing would have freezed to death out there!” “I told you no dogs!” “Look at her!”

Luke pulls the small puppy out from his jacket and you can see her shaking. Wet, cold, and obviously very lost.

“…what do we do now?” Jack whispers and Luke doesn’t answer, pulling the animal closer to his chest. After a moment of discussing what to do, the boys decide to just go home and sleep for the night.

“Hi, welcome in… how can I help you?” “We wanna adopt this dog-“ “no we don’t.”

Jack pushes Luke behind him and gently snatches the puppy from his hands, a sharp gasp cutting through the air when Luke feels the shove.

“Oh! Where did you find them?” “On the street, my brother couldn’t help but pick them up.” You gently take the animal out of Jack’s hands and inspect them for a second before looking him in the eyes. “I’ll have to do a cleaning and a check up for them, since they’re very dirty and I want to make sure the dog is healthy before I give them to you.”

Jack glances at you and when you two make eye contact all the anger he had directed towards Luke died down immediately in his throat. He quietly nodded and in less than a second, you were gone and in the back.

Another one of your coworkers came and got their information, and Jack had sat next to Luke in the small waiting area.

“…can we please keep the dog-“ “maybe.”

After what seemed like hours, you walk out with the dog put in a small kennel, handing it to your coworker. “Good news, puppy is very healthy! Bad news, you can’t keep her because she’s microchipped, which means she does have an owner.” Luke groans in disappointment, but his eyes flicker over to another dog playing through the window in a designated play area.

Jack notices this, and after standing there for a while, he speaks. “….are any of the dogs over there up for adoption?” “Yes sir! All the animals on the right side of the building are up for adoption. Are you interested in adopting today?”

“Um, yes.” Luke’s head snaps over into Jack’s direction. “That’s great! I’ll let you two look at the animals, and let me know if you decide to adopt.”

As you walk away, Jack looks at Luke and glares. “Don’t get too happy. I’m picking the dog.”

“Hello Mr. Hughes, how may I help you today?” “Hey. I know this is really sudden, but I think he’s sick! He’s been throwing up a lot.”

Jack drags in a golden retriever, who his brother named ‘Jett’ and he doesn’t look to well. Slouching and obviously very tired.

“Oh no! Here, follow me. I’ll get him onto the inspection table and I’ll check what’s wrong with him.” He follows you down the hallway with the puppy in his arms and sets him down gently onto the cold metal table.

Watching you take a stethoscope and check up his heartbeat and trying to listen into his stomach, his heart briefly stops when you call in your coworker to do an x-ray on the animal.

After getting sent to the waiting room and waiting an hour, his worried face shifts to confusion when Jett quickly runs out the door and in between Jack’s legs.

“So, I thought he had an infection in his stomach from some sort of food, but as soon as I officially set up the x-ray and tried to put him under it, he refused and went from looking sick to looking completely fine. My diagnosis is that he was trying to get your attention by being dramatic.”

Jack scoffs in disbelief and looks down at the golden ball of fur in between his feet, shaking his head and rolling his eyes.

“Wow. So I brought him here for nothing?” “Pretty much.” You try to hold back a laugh but fail miserably, smiling at the animal and preparing the register for his bill.

“Well, at least he’s okay! That’s all that matters.” You say and Jack lets out a brief chuckle before looking down at the machine.

“150 dollars?!” “Unfortunately, He did waste the supplies used to prep the x-ray machine…”

“Back again, Mr. Hughes?” “He was eating grass, I’m concerned he’s sick.” “You said that the last time you came in.”

It’s been about 4 months since Jack officially adopted Jett, and coincidentally his owners been coming into your clinic non stop for those past 4 months.

“I’m just looking out for him, what kind of owner would I be if I just let everything slide under the rug?” He grins and you scoff with a smile before leading him and his dog into a private room so you can “investigate” the problem with Jett.

The happy dog jumps up onto the table and rolls over, making a happy sort of huffing noise when you rub his stomach. After doing regular check up procedures, you can determine that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Jett.

“As usual, there’s nothing wrong with your dog. Why do you keep coming in here when you know he’s fine?” Jett jumps on you and you can’t hold back a laugh when he jumps down onto the floor and stands in a playing position. You open the door to the dog play area and let him out to go socialize with the other dogs that stay in the clinic.

“Maybe I just wanna see the cute girl who works here.” “Well maybe there’s an easier way for you to do that instead of dragging him along with you and wasting your money.” Jack bites his lip into a smile and slowly walks closer to you with his hands into his pocket.

“Does that mean that maybe I can take you out on a date this weekend?” “Maybe it does.” You lean against the counter that holds all the paperwork and files in the clinic and take out a small slip of paper, writing something down on it before shoving it into his hands and walking back into a ‘staff only’ facility.

“ xxx-xxx-xxxx. I’ll see you this weekend, Hughes. ;)”

Dam being a Jason Grace stan in the fandom is a fucking tragedy lol. Not only do we have to deal with him being screwed over by uncle Rick, but we have to deal with the fandom hating him aswell lol, i feel like Jason Grace slander wouldnt affect me half as much if his character had gotten a happy ending. I just saw an Instagram reel about a "character's povs you skipped through'' and the comments were flooded with Jason Grace just like I'd expected lol 😭 like blud has no mercy there.

It took all my will power to not defend him under a comment that called him "homophobic", I cannot believe that comment had 4 people agreeing aswell like- did we read the same books? Did they completey skip over the coming out chapter in HOH where jason was literally the first person to tell Nico not to be ashamed of liking guys and that no one would judge him? the guy is legit one of the least problematic characters and does nothing mean, how is he even CONSIDERED in the homophobic area anyway? (he also gets slandered for being "too nice" aswell lol) so seeing him wind up in such a contradictory accusation just screams tone deaf and anti-jason bias tbh, Nico legit said he considered jason as one of his first friend/supporter (apart from his sisters) in TSATS :') its like ppl keep throwing in these false stuff bc they WANT to find a reason to hate him. (dont take this as me saying you are not allowed to hate him or something cuz that would be quite hypocritical of me, wouldnt it? i just hate that ppl make up problematic hcs of him and push them as canon, it would taint non-reader's perception of him because of false info, what if a non reader stumbled across that comment and immediately figured that jason was indeed homophobic even when he wasn't?)

Also, can we please normalize NOT judging a person for their character preferences? I like jason and i am aware that its an unpopular take, but that doesnt make me any less of a pjo fan. The fandom seems pretty aggressive when we dont follow the popular opinion. i have seen multiple ppl pretend to hate jason simply bc they WANT to fit in and "look cool", since the fandom has a tendency to use Jason as a punching bag to insult like "he's a knockoff percy" or "he thinks he's so cool but he's not". or smth, so when people do claim jason as a favourite, a huge chunk of the fandom start belittling them and go like "really? Out of all characters, why jason?" Or "Percy/Leo is better, I don't understand why you like Jason"

And there you were, on your way to meet up with your boyfriend. Yes, boyfriend. Percy Jackson was now your boyfriend. When you told your beloved friends Silena and Annabeth, they weren't as shocked about it as you thought they would be.

"Finally."

"It's not like we weren't expecting it."

Maybe at least pretend. Let's all hold hands in a circle and jump up and down and chant of happiness. Okay maybe that's too much, you had just thought that after all the screaming at you to get it together, they'd have more of a reaction for when you finally got it together. Whatever, moving on. Finally you made it to Percy's, aw he left the door open this time. Now what if you just scared him a little.

You slowly walked through the door to be sure not to make any noise. After you did that you tip-toed your way to his room and ran through the door, the loud sound of it combined with your screaming scared the shit out of him.

He threw his phone in the air and sat there like the soul left his body. "Did I scare you?"

"I think I saw the stars" you started laughing at Percy as you walked toward him. "No like never do that again please."

"Hey," you sat on your legs in front of him on his bed. "No promises" you smiled as you leaned forward and kissed him, which he happily did back. You pushed back into him, laying down on top of him. After a few minutes your phone started ringing from your back pocket. You went to reach for it when Percy grabbed your hand.

"Come on just ignore it" and went back to kissing you. You ignored the phone till it stopped ringing. You went and continued on with what you were previously doing, at least that's what you wanted to do. Right after it stopped ringing it started again. You leaned up from Percy and let out an exasperated and dramatic sigh as you got up and answered the phone.

"Hello" you said harshly.

"Sorry to interrupted you" Nico said. "Jeez."

"Nico did you need something" you said trying to get him to talk quickly.

"Did you forget what day it is" Nico asked.

"Enough with your little riddles what is it?" SPIT IT OUT.

"Its parents day" Nico stated.

"So what, our moms are dead, who cares." Percy almost laughed at your bluntness but he didn't know if it was the time for that.

"Not those parents, godly parents. Dads here." You almost dropped the phone out your hand when he said that.

"Dads there" you asked, voice sounding a little high-pitched.

"Yup, so you might wanna hurry up. Bye." Shit. See the thing is, you weren't necessarily scared of your dad. Maybe a little, he has anger issues. Despite him being Hades, him being your father made him less scary, but you guys still weren't the closest. The only problem is Percy, your boyfriend, and guy you are currently sitting on. He has a hatred for Percy one would not understand and you don't want to know how he would react to him now dating his daughter.

"My dad's here" you said once more. You looked down at Percy who looked a little nervous. "Why are you suddenly nervous about Hades' presence?"

"Because he hates me and I'm sleeping with his daughter."

"Haha. Well, I gotta run, literally. Bye" you said as you quickly pecked him and ran back to your dorms. Not even noticing Poseidon chillin the couch relaxing, and knowing of your presence. It only took 6 minutes to make it back home, that may have been record time. You summed through the door and opened it to see your dad and Nico sitting on opposite sides of each other in the living room.

Nico and your father never had the greatest relationship and it really showed. Ever since his his real sister Bianca died, their relationship was strained. You wondered if she never passed, would your father had liked him more? All you knew was that it was better for everyone if you were around, less awkward. Kind of.

"Hey guys" you said as you slide in the seat next to Nico. He looked kind of nervous, expected when your sitting in front of the god of death, even if he is your father.

"Hello Y/N, me and Nico were just.. talking." It was silent when you walked in.

"Really? About what?" You played into it. You turned and saw Nico suppressing a small smile.

"you know, the usual" Nico said. Code for nothing by the way. You wanted to laugh a little but you didn't let that show.

"I didn't realize my kids were little jokesters" Hades said seriously. "Y/N, did you forget the date today?"

"Um, no" you lied.

"Then why is it you weren't here. What was more important that seeing your father? Hmm?" Your father questioned you. It felt like he knew, but its not like you or anyone you know would've told him. They know his feelings about Percy. And there's actually no way Hades uses instagram. As you were in thought, you may or may not have been quiet a little too long.

"Did you know Aphrodite hasn't shut up about this little love show of hers? Do you know how it felt to find out she was speaking of my daughter and Percy Jackson of all people? And the pictures online on that weird app she showed me? Despicable." Your father rambled while shaking his head. You turned to Nico in shock while you watch him try not to laugh at your possible despair.

"Um, surprise? I guess.." you said unenthusiastically and nervous.

"I'd kill that boy, but it'd be a whole thing with my brother. I'm not in the mood for that family drama." Hades rolled his eyes while speaking. "You have a rather ill choice with men in my opinion. You must hope I don't have a run-in with that boy. And lastly, if he even dares step foot in my realm once more, just remember I don't care if he's your.. boyfriend." He didn't elaborate on what would happen if Percy stepped foot in the underworld again, he didn't need to say another word for you to get the picture of what would happen to him. You were sure he didn't even want to go back in the first place. Unless maybe his mom got kidnapped again, but you know, fat chance.

"Yeah.. gotcha." You said simply. That actually went easier than you thought it would.

"Always, nice to see you both, but I must head out" Hades said as he stood up from his seat.

"Bye dad" you and Nico said at the same time. You both sat in silence as you watched your father walk out the room and disappear back to the underworld. You let out a sigh as you lifted your feet on the couch and leaned over on Nico's shoulder. He leaned his head on yours.

"Next time I'll remember the date and not leave you too alone again, I know its awkward" you said.

"At least he was just focused on you" Nico sighed.

"Yeah, blame Aphrodite for that I guess." You sat up. "And why didn't you get grilled about Will" you said jokingly annoyed.

"Well for starters, maybe because Will isn't like, his mortal enemy." Oh okay.

"Alright bro, no need to get snappy with me."

"Sorry Y/N, just stating facts here" Nico shrugged. "Anyways I was in fact planning to hangout with Will so.." Aww, wait..

"Are you kicking me out again?"

"Sorry, he has to many siblings" Nico said.

"Whatever, I was gonna head back to hang out with Percy anyways" you said as you got up headed it out. Nico shouted a bye from the couch and you shouted it back as you shut the door and made your way to Percy's.

Finally your back. You are currently standing at the door pounding on it like there's no tomorrow. Fifteen seconds later Percy opened the door looking at you wide-eyed.

"How'd it go with your dad" he asked quickly making you laugh. He moved to the side letting you in.

"Oh it went fine, just make sure to stay out of his way and the underworld or, you know" you said knowing you didn't need to continue speaking.

"Sounds just like my brother" you stopped in your tracks. Poseidon, Percy's dad, is currently sitting on the couch.

"Oh, um... hello." You said. Percy chuckled at your awkwardness.

"Don't worry, just cause your dad would like to blast me to bits doesn't mean my dad feels the same about you." you rolled your eyes as Percy said this. Poseidon just laughed at the two.

"I would've said hello to you earlier but you were running out quite fast" what was he.. oh.

"Oh, you were here?" You were just thinking about what if Nico never called you getting to to go home. Now THAT would've been more awkward than having a conversation with your own dad. And for the record, its very awkward.

"Yes I was. Aphrodite would've had a field day" Poseidon joked. You and Percy got a little warm in the face. "Anyways I must be off now, things to do and kingdoms to run, you know how it is." Poseidon walked up to Percy to hug him, he pulled away and ruffled his hair before walking out the door.

"I wish Hades was friendlier like Poseidon."

"Me too."

"Wanna have a movie night" you asked.

"Oh my gods let's go. I'll go make popcorn" Percy said excitedly.

"We're having a Harry Potter movie marathon" you stated as you went to get the first movie ready.

"Yo low-key I could take him in a fight. He's not all that." Percy said as the microwaved beeped letting us know that the popcorn finished.

"That's really interesting Percy"

When you woke up you were now alone on the couch. You sat up and looked around for Percy when you smelled waffles. The delicious smell gravitated you toward the kitchen.

"Good morning" you greeted Percy. You walked over behind him while he stood at the stove as you wrapped your arms around his waist.

"Good morning sleepyhead" Percy said. You kissed him on his back and jumped on the counter next to the stove.

"What a gentleman, cooking me breakfast." He looked at you confused, making you confused. "What?"

"What makes you think this is for you, I was the hungry one who took initiative" he looked at you like it was obvious.

"You're saying" you swung your arms around "all of this food is for you? You dam near big as hell you know that?"

"Oh I've heard" he winked. You just looked up at the ceiling and sighed, wondering how you got yourself here. "I'm just messing with you, obviously this is for the both of us."

"Thank gods, I was so hungry I wasn't even going to mention the blue waffles." you said as you just picked one up and stuffed it in your mouth.

"Okay, last time I checked we weren't barbarians. Grab a plate" Percy said.

"Ugh what are you my dad" you joked.

"Erm no. I think your dad would actually start a war if he heard you were comparing us" you both just started laughing. After you composed yourself you went and grabbed a plate for your waffle, you proceeded to drown it in syrup, earning a glare from Percy.

"Hey Y/N, don't freak out when I say this but I think there's a waffle hiding in your syrup."

"Oh my god thanks for telling me, I had no idea" you said sarcastically. "Gods forbid I eat the way I like."

"Your allowed to do what you want as long as its not.. never mind. I just forget your so.. special" he paused before he said special, clearly not calling you special the way you would've like. These men.

"Sorry you don't enjoy cuisine the way I do" You rolled eyes as Percy finished getting food and you both sat at the kitchen island to eat. The waffles were really good and didn't need all that syrup by the way. You just liked bothering Percy. You also just liked Percy himself but you didn't need to inflate his ego more (ur dating its okay to say you like him).

Ignore this post, my HoTD moots, this is going to be a long post you don't care about.

it's PJO/HoO rant time.

What can I say, Tumblr brings me back to the simpler times of 2016.

Y'all baby Frank too much. Like. Way too much.

Leo was a dick at times, no doubt. But I think y'all forget Frank was absolutely being antagonistic because he was paranoid over Leo looking like Hazel's ex. You can argue it's because Leo fired on New Rome, but Frank himself counters that claim and Leo is initially grateful Frank didn't blame him.

Frank was also the first one to bring up Sammy, not Hazel, just before that. Later, all before Leo says anything against Frank, Piper thinks Frank's behavior is because it seems like Leo and Hazel had a history. This is a longer bit of a book scene, but I feel like it gets ignored.

This is still before Leo says anything against Frank. I will be saying that a number of more times. Leo just complimented his ability and Frank responds with a pretty catty comment about Leo's physical abilities. You can see the difference in how he reacts even more clearly in a scene before, when Hazel is commenting on Frank turning into a dragon

Frank doesn't counter the idea to become a dragon, he just has an issue with leaving Hazel with Leo. Leo again, so far, isn't upset with Frank. He wants to prove he's trustworthy.

When Piper does her fun little exorcism on the lads, this happens. I have to say yet again. Leo has not insulted Frank at this point. Not a huge issue, Frank was a bit shaken up, but it was still kind of a dick move to just. Let him hit the dirt. I'll excuse it because it is very funny.

Later when they find out about Nico, this scene below happens. Leo has still not said anything against Frank at this point - Jason even agrees repeatedly with Leo, but Frank only glares at Leo.

After this, when Hazel is upset and leaves, Leo starts to likely say he should go apologize, but Frank cuts him off saying, "you've done enough."

We're a few hundred pages through the book now at this point. Frank has insulted Leo, he doesn't trust him, doesn't want Hazel around him, singles him out, and literally let him fall to the ground. Leo has not said anything against him yet.

Even Percy notes that Frank's mood is tied to his relationship with Hazel, and Leo seemingly threatening that.

(and for those who are curious - baleful means threateningly, or to wish harm)

This is when, after a good chunk into the novel, we reach Leo's first dig at Frank.

Then ~the iguana incident~ comes not long after, but if you're going to call this Leo bullying him, you'd have to include... Everyone. Since they literally all laughed at Frank turning into a lizard to get out of the finger trap. Hazel, Percy, Annabeth, everyone. Not a fun moment for Frank, I sympathize with him there, but I wouldn't personally call this pointed bullying. You may disagree but I do not think at the very least that Riordan intended it to be seen as bullying. This is followed by Leo sending Frank's dirty laundry out on Buford for awhile (though he does claim that it would be cleaned and returned to him, eventually we do learn the laundry is lost. This was not a planned thing by Leo, and I don't understand why this is characterized by some people as him purposely throwing away Frank's clothes.)

All this eventually leads to this exchange.

Gee, I don't know, Frank. Maybe because you keep glaring at him anytime you're around him to the point even Percy was like oh boy I got to get him off the ship before he folds Leo like a pretzel.

Later, Frank actually helps save Leo in eagle form, but ends up injured in the process - and drops Leo. I really don't think Frank meant to drop him, but Leo thinks Frank dropped him on purpose. That's kind of a big thing, even though it's a minor line.

Then, Frank is back to being untrusting of Leo. He's glowering, glaring, and again - doesn't want to leave Leo with Hazel.

When Hazel is alone with Leo, she finally takes the time to defend Frank.

So, clearly, Frank scares Leo.

Leo scares Frank.

It's a fun horrible little wicked web! It's almost like the author intended them to buttheads! Shocking!

I've run out of pictures to add!

I could and probably will continue this nonsense, but the general point of this rant is Frank is not just some totally sweet big guy who has never done anything wrong in his entire life, and characterizing him as such just makes him boring. He's self conscious, insecure, and lashes out at- boy, doesn't that sound familiar. Anyway.

He was kind of a dick to Leo, and Leo was kind of a dick to him in turn.

I'm pretty sure I had a better ending for this originally, that summed everything up, but now I'm distracted and just bitter they didn't kiss.

I didn't even have time to reach their interactions underwater.

percy:

becomes a high school teacher

teaches high school marine biology (idk how it is in other schools but when we hit sophomore year we got to choose different bio classes ie: marine bio, ag bio, med bio + regular bio)

also teaches the mythology elective and is the swim team coach

annabeth:

we already know this queen is an architect with obvious inspiration from greek architecture

learns how to make blue food for percy and their kids from sally

has traveled all over the world looking at different architecture

learns the basics of many languages so shes able to communicate with the locals

her and leo team up to build a small school near camp half-blood for year rounders so everyone can learn consistently but dw they get summers off

piper:

love her but shes a nepo baby

she doesnt act like it tho

”are you tristan mcleans daughter?” “who?”

loves her dad to bits but does not like being seen out in public by the paparazzi

marries shel, they dont have kids tho, neither of them want to bring any into the world especially with america’s downfall and the government erasing women and poc rights

him and calypso dont last, maybe a year and a half in they split bc calypso wants to explore the world and leo is very emotionally unstable and calypso has a hard time understanding

they end on good terms but dont ever talk unless its with a group of friends

he goes into a trade to become a mechanic and owns his own shop

starts smoking cigarettes/vaping

his friends dont really approve but they understand he cant quit just yet as hes not in a mental space to do so

goes to therapy with a psychologist whos a demigod that specializes in grieving and war trauma

they all go to therapy but hes the last one to do it

he’s still the ‘happy go lucky’ guy hes always been but as he gets closer w the others they start to see the true sadness in him

piper and him grow a lot closer after jason died and have a big sister little brother relationship

hazel:

my girl stays at camp jupiter

takes nicos place at camp

horse trainer

her and frank also dont work out as a romantic relationship, they felt that the age gap was too much after frank turned 18 and hazel was 15 theyre still friends tho

hazel often visits leo in his shop

as much as leo reminds her of sammy, through therapy she has recognized that theyre separate people and to not push all her past feelings for sammy onto leo

not only does she train horses but she also teaches little kids basic math, science, and history to the younger kids

they all call her ms. hazel

she prefers to teach the really young kids (age 4-7)

wears her hair in different braid styles after BOO

frank:

my friggin HOMIE

i relate to frank a lot personality wise

therefore i think hed be a 4/20 fanatic after BOO

hes not stoned during training or during important camp duties

but otherwise you try talkin to him and you dont really notice until you look and see the far off look and red eyes and he just goes “huh?”

other than that hes a great leader

after he gets his cool new look from mars he takes really good care of his body including consistent exercise and eating really healthily (maybe he has a soft spot for fast food when hes hi)

him joining the military does not make sense to me

he lost his mom to war, and he was in one himself, idk about you but i would not wanna join the military after being the main character in a war

he studies to be a veterinarian for exotic animals

when no one is around he shifts into the animal to find out whats wrong

will is not unreasonable for repeatedly saying things like he could never live in the underworld and he doesn’t understand how life thrives down there. please consider:

like every other person on earth Will was taught that plants need sunlight to grow so it confuses him when he sees that contradicted. he’s also got a little bit of a scientific mind (eg. wondering how the regeneration blisters could be used for healing applications) so of course he’s curious about how that works

Persephone takes one look at Will and says she can see he misses the sun and she does too and it took time for her to adjust to the darkness

Will has a sun therapy light because he gets depressed when the sun is weak. He is struggling with that the whole time he is underground

Menoetes said “i don’t know what you’re doing down here” to Will’s face after learning he’s a son of Apollo. even Underworld residents who love living there don’t get why a son of Apollo would ever be there

being in the Underworld too long was literally opening gashes in his skin. And plenty of other features in the Underworld were causing him physical harm and extreme emotional distress. At this point it’s not even a matter of attitude, he physically could not live in the Underworld

even Nico acknowledges that it might be hard for Will to revise his impression of the Underworld when the literal second he set foot in it he was overrun by his worst nightmares

yes, clearly it bothered Nico that Will had a negative outlook on life in the Underworld. But how many times did he pointedly NOT voice the way Will’s attitude was bothering him, instead choosing to simmer in avoidable resentment? There is a lesson here that I feel is getting lost. Nico can’t expect Will to magically be more sensitive about something he didn’t know was bothering Nico. The guy is a loving boyfriend but he’s not a mind reader.

Plus as much as Will’s words bothered Nico, it was clear that Nico wasn’t being thoughtful enough of Will’s feelings either. There’s a part where Nico gets frustrated with Will (wherein he again did not open up to him about what was bothering him) and freaking walked away from him while Will was seriously injured.

They BOTH messed up. AND, they both had understandable reasons for acting the way they did. Their conflict was super sympathetic and relatable — they weren’t antagonizing each other, they were navigating the inevitable friction that arises when two people from different walks of life get close to each other.

The sign of a healthy relationship isn’t a complete lack of conflict and misunderstandings. It’s how those misunderstandings are resolved — they apologized to each other and continually made the effort to meet each other where they were at and provide support in the way that was most needed. This book provides a great model of one of the hardest things on earth, which is resolving tangled relationship conflicts. And i love it for that 🩵

"What did you say?"

You looked at your boyfriend, noticing that the expression on his face changed completely. He had been smiling moments before, but now he seemed confused and intrigued by the name that had come from your lips.

The thing is, you had asked him to hand you the TV remote, but you had used another name to call him. That had left him static in his place, with a frown on his beautiful face.

"Sorry, João."

"You said Nico. Who is Nico?"

"No one, I just- I got confused."

You were playing a prank on him to find out what his reaction was, you just wanted to know how he was going to react to hearing you call him by another name, and you were watching him right now. He didn’t like it at all.

"How can you get my name wrong? I’m your boyfriend."

"Sorry babe." You tried to act innocent and of course, João didn’t even believe you.

"Who’s Nico?"

"João, I just got confused for a second."

"Fine."

João got up from the coach, in a complete silence that made you realize that you had ruined everything. You didn’t think he’d take it so badly, maybe you expected him to ask a few questions, but not that he seemed offended. You also got up from the coach where you were sitting and tried to hold his hand. Your boyfriend kept walking.

"Babe, don’t get mad, it was just a mistake."

"I’m not mad."

João was so serious, it was obvious that he was angry about your supposed mistake. Hell, you didn’t expect him to be angry. Your boyfriend kept walking and you looked at his back.

"Then, why are you leaving?"

"You better go talk to Nico, whoever that guy is."

João went to the room you shared, closing the door behind him. You thought his anger would go away quickly and he would surely realize that his jealousy was silly, but he didn't return. João didn’t used to be a jealous boyfriend, he usually knew that you were in love with him and you were his. That’s why you decided to play that prank too, thinking he wouldn’t be mad at you.

As you already felt bad about what had happened, you went in search of him. João was lying on the bed, looking at the ceiling. His eyes joined for a moment, until he turned his attention back to the ceiling.

"C'mon babe, we should talk." You walked by his side.

"Won’t you get confused with my name this time?"

"João... it was a prank. I wanted to see how you would react if I called you by another name. I didn’t think you would get angry."

João looked at you silently, beginning to understand that there was no one else in your life. João was your boyfriend and you loved him with all your heart, just like he loved you. Before you met him you didn’t used to believe in soulmates, until him. Now you were sure he was the man you wanted to spend the rest of your life with. He was significant to you.

"But-why? It wasn’t even funnier."

"I know, I’m really sorry now. Please, babe..."

You sat up beside him in bed, joining your hands in a grip. Your voice was a much lower volume from where you laid. João stroked your hand, pleased to solve that misunderstanding.

"Could you forgive me? There is no Nico, it was just a prank. I love you and I could never mistake your name."

"It’s fine, pretty."

One way or another, João ended up lying on your chest, his ear stuck to your heart. You caressed her hair, which was completely disheveled. His arms gently came around you, securing your place. You could stay like this all day, unwilling to do anything but show your love.

His kisses trailed down your chin, leaving love bites on your neck. You felt his hot, sloppy wet kisses all over your body, especially in your lips. You had to gasp for air, but João still leaned in, eyes closed, lips parted, absolutely wanting more.

"I love you. I know I say it a lot, but I truly mean it." your boyfriend said to you, while your gazes met. "Did you love me?"

"I love you so much, and I never want to hurt you, João."

You had the best boyfriend ever.

Why Jason Grace is The Most Tragic Character in the Riordanverse

*in no way is this trying to dial down Nico's own suffering, I'm just stating my case for Jason because godsdamn SOMEBODY needs to say it!*

Lost his ENTIRE FUCKING CHILDHOOD because Said Mom gave him up to Juno to be raised by a PACK OF WOLVES who would've EATEN HIM if he was WEAK FOR EVEN A SECOND - AS A FUCKING TWO YEAR OLD

Was a trained demigod FROM THE GET-GO (again, TWO YEARS OLD)

Thinks he LOST LEO VALDEZ, ONE OF HIS ACTUAL FIRST FRIENDS, WHO LIKED HIM FOR HIM AND NOT BECAUSE OF HIS STATUS

FORCED TO COMPLY TO A DEMANDING SOCIETY THAT EXALTED HIM FROM DAY 1 BECAUSE HIS DAD IS THE OH-SO-IMPORTANT JUPITER (*cough victim of nepotism cough*)

AND WHEN HE TRIES TO COMBAT THAT NEPOTISM HE KEEPS GETTING PUSHBACK UNTIL HE FALTERS

then. then his girlfriend breaks up with him - not because of any drama, or even a disagreement, but over a very valid point

their relationship didn't exactly start out very...honestly. Jason had been mind-wiped of all memories and Piper had fake ones implanted into her to make her think she liked Jason as more than a friend. sure. they had a pretty nice relationship, but when everything slowed down and they took a look at their lives?

Piper's the one who sees it first, and makes the decision. Jason is heartbroken, but understands - he even, dare I say, agrees that they should end the relationship. it was built on fake memories - you could say it was built on lies.

and now Jason has this opportunity to step back and analyze who he is and what he wants.

what he finds is depressing. everything he's had, everything's he's been up till now...

it's not him.

he never wanted to be raised by Lupa and her wolves.

he never wanted to be Jupiter's son

he never wanted to be the exalted leader Camp Jupiter praised him for

From day 1 his life was somebody else's. his first steps were under the tutelage of a wolf, not of the loving eyes of his sister

Camp Jupiter only ever saw him as the demigod to be praised and turn to above all others, even before he became praetor.

Jason's life...was never his own.

and now that he's away from all that pressure and expectation...he doesn't know who he is.

Son of Jupiter?

Champion of Juno?

Praetor of the Twelfth Legion?

Member of the Prophesized Seven?

Hero of Olympus?

no. he was never himself under these names.

he was never...Jason.

but maybe now he could start navigating his own life. without some god intervening for once. this would be good for him, and for Piper, to find their own way.

but then. then they talk to Herophile...and find out one of them will die. And Jason? Well, he's not going to let Piper be taken from the life she deserves. he may not be her boyfriend, her knight in shining armor, but he sure as HELL loves her - especially as a friend. And if there's one thing you should know about Jason? It's that he loves his friends.

so what does he do? He sacrifices himself. He duels Caligula himself, and urges Piper, Meg, and Apollo to Go, save yourselves! and -

he's stabbed. through the chest. the only thing he can do? Look to Apollo, to the blue gaze so much like his own drenched in horror, and ask; Remember. because he didn't get to live the life he wished, but maybe Apollo could - no, Apollo can, he can make the difference Jason wanted. Because he trusts Apollo.

Jason doesn't regret his sacrifice. he saved Piper from the prophecy, after all. He saved Apollo & Meg's lives too.

in fact, Jason didn't really mind dying. Because he didn't have much of a life either. And a life like that? shrug It's worth sacrificing for those who deserve theirs.

and as icing on the cake, remember who Jason's father is? The almighty, all-powerful Jupiter himself, King of the Gods?

he doesn't do a damn thing to help Jason. Not a single. Thing.

because Jupiter/Zeus doesn't care about his children. Especially his sons.

Zeus saved Thalia. But he didn't even try to save Jason.

Trying would have at least lessened the pain...

People like to claim Jason is a bland, boring character who's never suffered a minute in his life. That he's a golden retriever with no flaws.

Well.

Take a look up there and ask yourself - it that the life of a boy who knows no suffering?

Because it sure as hell don't look that way to me.

To me, it looks like Jason was a used, depressed young man who never got to choose his own path. Who's father abandoned him first to his wife's mercy, then to a cruel emperor's.

Jason Grace suffered.

and he never got to live that happy life he saw within the Fates.

Never got to get that family, those grandchildren he saw himself telling the story of the Argo II to.

Because The Fall of Jason Grace is a true, utter tragedy.
