This might be unpopular but I don't hate Megstiel. I like it as a "friend ship" and the kiss was hot because Mischa Collins and Rachel Miner sold it. Good acting plus Mischa spun Rachel Miner around because of her MS which added to the scene. But idk whether I agree with it romantically? It's a million times healthier than Destiel but there is an innocence to it, where it just feels weird to ship them together romantically. Because their relationship was strengthened on Cas being almost childlike

Don't get me wrong there was sexual tension between Meg and pre honey era Cas and perhaps if that was built upon I would ship it as a tertiary ship. Like Crowstiel > Crobby > Megstiel but the sexual tension is probably because Mischa didn't want Rachel to fall over from her MS. But the actual strengthening of their relationship happened with honey era Cas

The moment the show producers and directors chose to have Meg look after almost childlike Cas they changed the dynamic of the ship where I find it odd to ship them romantically and sexually. Because like I said the whole dynamic between them is different and it's hard to unsee that lol

Like does that make sense? Like before honey era Cas with the Cas and Meg kiss I wouldn't have found it weird if that relationship turned into more but the moment the directors and producers changed the dynamics of their relationship idk I guess it is really odd to see them as anything more than supportive friends after the directors and producers made that decision

ooooh my first two thoughts are 1) good bobby disability arc. it had soooo much potential to show how bobby can be valued beyond his use to the boys and also how disabled hunters live and thrive while demanding more accessibility and arrangements in their lives. no miracle cure as a reward just bobby finding a way to find joy in his wheelchair and see it is freedom rather than restraint. and 2) have an actual cain and able plot in season 10. they really underplayed this for me?? i know it almost happened in the finale but to me dean having the mark of vain should've been more about the growing threat of him targeting sam specifically and what that meant for both of them. but the whole moc arc for a hundred other reasons needs a makeover we know this

absolutely BANGING question and an interesting one for me because i'm such a rarepair and multishipper truly no character is safe. a lot of people say cas is hard to ship with people other than dean and i would be inclined to agree but also megstiel and crowstiel and sastiel like there are so many sexy options with him. hmm i'm gonna have to go with a boring one like lucifer or something because everyone else i'm thinking of has so many possible ships that are sexy or funny or cute i simply cannot chose

Hi there :) I'm actually not anti-spnwin! While I have some serious critiques, I did find the show enjoyable enough for a pilot, and I'm not bashing the show. It's mostly okay so far and I'm interested to see where it goes, and support what Jensen is creating. It is true that I have some criticism—mainly in that I feel Mary is a weak link that brings the show down—but I think that's a fair point to make, and a fair frustration to share. We're all entering into this new show together, and differing opinions, or "comments", are something that can be shared. Now, if I tag a post #spnwin, that's because I'm writing in regards to it, or sought to engage with others watching the show (not antis) that share similar feelings. If I were writing rants talking about how much the entire show completely and utterly sucks (which I wouldn't do, because I don't think that) then I would use an anti tag. Because I know how sad it is to go into a tag and see floods of hate and spite. (Like going into certain spn ship tags—for example, I can never find any megstiel content because it's mostly haters in that tag, which I find depressing and admittedly rude.) If anything, my posts could perhaps make sense in some kind of "anti meg mary" or "anti winmary" tag, though again: unless I was absolutely raging on her, I think that would be a bit excessive. Fandoms don't have to agree on everything, and I think filtering out any opinion that isn't "contented" would be... odd? Sterilized?

I want to add that I checked out the 'anti spnwin' tag, since you mentioned it. It looks like theres only one post tagged with that as of yet, and its a reply to to an anon message making a similar ask. All that to say—that isn't a tag that anyone is using, or browsing. (Nor do I really wish to go scrolling in a tag that's anti-the-whole-show.)

I get that the spnwin tag is relatively small at this time, and discontented comments probably stand out right now, but to be honest, if people feel they need to enjoy every aspect of a show to enjoy it, when that's not the case for them? They might feel like the fandom space is not open to them, and stop interacting with that fandom. Which isn't what we want! When I was first scrolling the spnwin tag, I was starting to feel that way. Why? Because there weren't a lot of diverse opinions coming up. I was seeing a lot of praise for the new Mary (and for most everything, really) and that was making me feel very unconnected. Until I found a couple sparse posts agreeing with me, that made me go, "okay. there's some differing opinion here. I can dig it."

While hate that is extreme and uncomfortable to read is often good to separate out, fandoms have never been about matching opinions that praise all aspects of a show, character, or actor performance. I don't believe there's anything wrong with enjoying certain parts of something, while discussing the pitfalls of others, or reminiscing about instances where something was done better.

I understand, and honestly do appreciate, that you are probably looking for spnwin posts which are thoroughly excited and sharing hype. Or maybe you're really enjoying the new Mary and are looking for others who feel the same way—and that's chill. But I don't believe it's the job of people who feel differently to separate or remove themselves from the collective fandom space.

Hope this all makes sense and explains where I'm coming from. Truly, there are no hard feelings.

Oh shit what up-- so I just noticed this in my ask box oops... This one is a yes and a no. (I straight up lost that post so you get this instead-- bare with me) I platonically ship them so hard. Like they are the best of friends. They are the definition of friendship. Honestly, who wouldn’t be bffs after one of you threw the other on a ring of fire and then proceed to walk over? Iconic.

We deserved to see them talk shit about Dean right in front of him. We deserved to see Meg go fuckin off about Cas being able to do better and Cas just resigned with ‘you’re probably right’ and Dean just like-- Yo, dickweeds, I’m right here.

I don’t ship them romantically though because I feel like Cas wouldn’t be able to actually let himself feel like that about another person/demon/angel/whatever because he’s so wrapped around Dean... I’m also a horrible person who doesn’t really multiship oops.

((I do 100% headcanon that Dean/Cas/Meg would have all slept together at some point if the CW weren’t cowards though.))

I can’t pick one two are to hard I messed up the last two big time so am fixing it my favs are Megstiel jodean. Am pretty sure Dean was Megstiel fan club president. And make comments morning after Dean would be like way to go buddy.

Hate how they killed Jo off I really liked her. I worked made her a main character and hooked her up with Dean.saying y’all shouldn’t have complained cause am not one to give people what they want if they complain me I’ll do the complete opposite if you don’t like it don’t watch it am not giving in to haters and giving them what they want. Castile and meg would be main characters and be together. He would be very protective of her Castile would get actual wings black. And meg would constantly play with with them and Rub them when she wanted attention or thought he needed a break

1. My First Ship: Violate (AHS)

I watched American Horror Story even before I even knew what the heck ship was. My first thought, apart from “Wow, this Tate guy is really horrifying” lol, was “their love is so beautiful.” Despite being a monster, he truly cared and loved her with all his heart. His relationship was so pure, regardless of their capricious situation, he never once hurt her, respected her and always was sweet and gentle toward her. They were my first and my always OTP.

Damn, the chemistry was so good that I wish Evan and Taissa actually were together.

2. Current Ship: Guzmuel (Elite)

HAHAHAHA GUY I DON’T EVEN WHAT THE HECK GOT INTO MY HEAD SO DON’T ASK ME xD

But seriously they have been on my mind lately. Watching a whole season where Samuel endlessly suffering from Guzman being a jerk was totally painful, and the way the writers treated their relationship quite horribly, but the fact that after everything had been going on, they still stuck by and chose each other in the end melted my heart. Their chemistry was so good that even better than the actual gay couple on the show (sorry not sorry lmao) and the actors doing questionable gay things didn’t make it better 😂🤣

3. My Ship Since The First Minute: Cherik (X-Men)

It wasn’t easy for me to be hooked from the first sight, but these men... right on the first time they shared the scene, I already thought, they had to be together.

Same with Hannigram - Murder Husbands xD

4. I Wish They Had Been Endgame: Megstiel (SPN)

DEAR WRITERS, YOU HAD ONE JOB!!!

Like everything was right there. Everything was perfect. The chemistry, the ultimate trope enemies to lovers, the love story of an angel and a demon, she loved and cared for him more than anything else, even sacrificed her life for him while she’s supposed to be a fucking demon, he thought she’s beautiful even he’s able to see through her meatsuit, he used “Clarence” - the one she used to call him - as his cover name, The Empty used her imagine to torture him because it knew “who he loved”, etc.

Then you brought back the empty using Meg’s vessel but not ACTUALLY her and just let her stay dead, then had Cas confessed his one-sided feelings to his long-year abuser before dragging him to hell? WHAT THE F*CK MAN!!?

5. I Wish They Had Been Canon: Sterek (Teen Wolf) & Klayley (TO)

I adore Stalia, I really do, but I have been shipping Sterek from the start and wish that the writers actually gave them a chance. Dylan and Tyler had brilliant chemistry, and they had very fun chaotic dynamic in the show. They saved each other repeatedly, cared so much for one another, shared so many meaningful moments and deep connection, to the point that Stiles was actually Derek’s anchor. Seriously we had been queerbaiting till the end but still falling so hard for it :(

Same with Klayley, with the whole married couple things and wasted potential. Even they did have sex one time, but only just for the baby plot then nothing more than “former one night stand” while they could have been so much more than that. They inspired each other to change for the better and the way they looked at each other was too intimate for just “mother/father of our child” and better than their own love interests.

6. Most Of The Fandom Hates, But I Love: Rizzy (Shadowhunters)

When she said she didn’t care about sex but only him when he came out as ace, that’s where they got me. I no longer cared about anything else. Just wish they had last longer.

7. Don’t Watch The Show, But I Ship Them Anyway: Villaneve (Killing Eve)

8. I Wish They Had A Different Storyline: Handon (Legacies)

They are wonderful as separate characters and together, their soft scenes really have my heart. And their chemistry and their kisses are just like... wow, beautiful. But the fact that the writer just gave them codependent dynamic where they couldn’t reach full capabilities of their own, and their relationship were hated by most of the fandom really upset me. Since they broke up now, I hope both Landon and Hope can develop themselves as a character before finding way back to each other. Because I just want them to be endgame.

9. A Background Ship That I Wasn’t Supposed To Ship, But I Do: Golan (TW)

I wasn’t supposed to care at all about them because they’re pretty toxic, but it was true that they once cared deeply for each other (enough to shot up a house then murder people for the other lol) and I liked the “us against the world” “go gay do crime” kind of dynamic, so yeah xD

10. My NOTP: Destiel (SPN)

THANK A LOT JENSEN!

I swear there’re no other ships in the world make me despise than this pairing. Forced fanservice, no chemistry, ABUSIVE AF, even Jensen Ackles himself hated it. Dean had been horrible to Cas for most of their time and for YEARS, took advantage of him, used him, tossed him aside when he’s no longer needed, abused him both physically and emotionally, blamed Cas for everything went wrong in his life, tortured Cas’s son to the point this kid was suicidal and so on, there’s so much things wrong with this relationship that I couldn’t ever count (but if you really want to know then go to this post pls: https://ryoryeonggu.tumblr.com/post/189698174685/as-heartbreaking-as-castiels-departure-was-last). But the worst part is that the ship justified Dean’s shitty behaviors and neglected Cas’s pain just for that delusional “love” which was clearly one-sided and not even close to a normal brotherhood. So NO! I will kindly send my “fuck-off” blessings to that ship till the day I die.

Oh gee x’D I’ll admit that there is plenty of ships I really disliked in the Spn fandom, both canon and fan made. If I had to pick one, I’d say Megstiel. I dislike Meg as a character in general and, from how I saw it, she and Cas had zero chemistry. Not to mention that it was basically pulled out of nowhere (...as most canon ships in this fandom, ngl).

8. Does your muse get jealous easily?

I don’t want to end up repeating what you wrote in your own answer to this very same question, but it’s hard because you really spelled out my thoughts there.

Yes, he does, but it’s not out of possessiveness or lack of trust in his partner, even if, to an external eye, it might look like so. Dean is very well aware that he is the problem. His fear of abandonment. The fact that for him is so very hard to form meaningful, lasting relationships. The too many people he had already lost. The idea that someone could step in and steal his partner scares him and, as per usual, he reacts by showing anger, in the form of jealous in this particular case.

In no particular order:

Dean/Amara (this one makes me cringe real hard because I actually really liked Amara’s character, especially in the second half of season 11, and hate how they have tried to reduce her to a love interest)

Dean/Bela (kind of the same deal with Cas and Meg, I’ve never been a Bela fun. Tho, I’ll admit that she and Dean had some very brief, very light moments of chemistry)

6. Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?

i think in general spnblr makes me think more about ships i just never would've considered - even though i can think of rarepairs pretty quickly now that's defo a thing i've picked up from sapphicnatural. also i wasn't sure on megstiel at first because i read cas so strongly as gay and the idea of destiel endgame is so strong on this webbed site that it was hard to see any other options, but actually hanging around helped me realise i can ship whoever the fuck i want when their sexualities aren't determined in the text and you can ship multiple people at the same time. in that respect spnblr as really done a lot positively for how i view ships and shipping in general, especially on the rarepair front. i love how sapphicnatural is so inventive and finds so much joy in placing women who have never met together. however i digress

7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?

there's not much i can't stand simply because as always i am boring and haven't got that many strong negative opinions </3 i used to be a lot more interested in the actors/cons side of things i suppose - when i first started watching spn i watched a BUNCH of old panels and really enjoyed them. but then the more you learn about the actors the more fun it is simply to think about fanon characters than anyone else, so that might be the strongest contender for how much my interests in spn have changed over time and especially due to spnblr

5x10: Abandon All Hope...

Plot Synopsis:

Dean and Sam get to know the whereabouts of Lucifer and want to hunt him down. But Lucifer is well prepared and is working his own plans.

Features:

Crowley has the best character intro ever filmed, the best hard zoom ever filmed, retrieving the colt, Cas drinks with the girls, family portrait, Meg and her hellhounds, the devil’s deteriorating vessel, Jo and Ellen’s sacrifice, shooting the devil in the head, raising death,

My Thoughts:

I watched the cold open 3 times while watching this episode because it made us laugh so hard. GOT HIM.

I love Crowley so much, he’s been a fruity little crossroads demon since the beginning and we owe Mark Sheppard everything. He didn’t have to go so hard with the eyes and the face before he kissed that sleezy banker, but he did that for us. He gave us not one but TWO gay kisses in this role. A hero.

The scene when the boys meet him and they’re so baffled by him… I love them. They’re so stupid.

Lucifer is still an actually scary villain in this season, he has a ton of gravitas and control and I forgot how much I loved that until I saw it contrasting so sharply with, for example, Inherit the Earth, where he was mostly whined and said “cuck”. The colouring and the aesthetic of this episode also fuck extremely hard, especially when Cas is walking among the reapers and then standing in the ring of holy fire all lit from below, doing the same hand turn that he does in On The Head of a Pin. And they still use Cas’ wings to great effect this early into the series as well.

Bonus points for Deangirls and hellers this episode. Dean says, I’d like to die for a cause (do NOT think about the finale in this context), and then he gives Jo the same “last night on Earth” speech that he gave to Cas in Free to Be You and Me.

Cas is making friends with Jo and Ellen, which makes it even sadder that they die in this episode. I love them so much, Jo especially, but I do like that she got to go out a hero and that she and Ellen got their emotional moment at the end.

Cas and Lucifer are great foils for each other in this episode. They both rebelled and were cast out, but for opposite reasons. One for hatred of humanity, one for love of it. @meg3point0 pointed out that Lucifer, even through rebelling, is playing the role that his Father has been writing for all of existence. One brother has to fight the other, Lucifer vs Michael, Cain vs Abel, Sam vs Dean. This is God’s book, and it needs conflict.

Cas looks sooo pretty in this episode, and while I don’t personally ship Megstiel, this episode makes me see the appeal. They have chemistry, hot damn.

“Your choice. You can cling to six decades of deep-seated homophobia, or give it up and get a complete bailout for your bank's ridiculous incompetence.”

“To him, we're just servants. Cannon fodder. If Lucifer manages to exterminate humankind, we're next. So, help me, huh? Let's all go back to simpler, better times, back to when we could all follow our natures.”

“Sam Winchester, having trust issues with a demon. Well, better late than never.”

“What a peculiar thing you are.”

“I rebelled, I was cast out. You rebelled, you were cast out. Almost all of heaven wants to see me dead, and if they succeed, guess what? You're their new public enemy number one. We're on the same side, like it or not, so why not just serve your own best interests? Which in this case just happen to be mine?”

“Oh, I don't know, Sam. I think it will. I think it'll happen soon. Within six months. And I think it'll happen in Detroit.”

“I was a son. A brother, like you, a younger brother, and I had an older brother who I loved. Idolized, in fact. And one day I went to him and I begged him to stand with me, and Michael—Michael turned on me. Called me a freak. A monster. And then he beat me down. All because I was different. Because I had a mind of my own. Tell me something, Sam. Any of this sound familiar?”

“Lucifer is the father of our race. Our creator. Your god may be a deadbeat. Mine—mine walks the earth.”

6x09: Clap Your Hands If You Believe...

Plot Synopsis:

The brothers investigate a series of abductions attributed to aliens. However, when Dean disappears and then reappears, they realise that the culprits are fairies and that only someone taken to the fairy realm can see them.

Features:

The quintessential soulless Sam episode, Dean gets abducted, having a soul equals suffering, little glowing hot naked lady with nipples, fairy deals, counting grains of salt.

My Thoughts:

When I think of Soulless Sam, this is the episode that I think of. He has tons of funny lines (thanks, Bedlund), and it’s Jarpad’s best soulless acting (perhaps because he doesn’t need to emote). The use of Ground Control to Major Tom is very funny. I like to see big men hold little teacups. Also, the lighting in the prison scene is really good. Sam dumping out the salt is a fun way to bring it back to classic fairy lore.

I'm not a fan of the off-putting homophobic jokes, but in the grand scheme of things they're not the worst.

Also, they mentioned brownies, so I spent a fair amount of time watching this episode daydreaming about DTA instead of paying attention, sorry.

“Close encounter! What kind? First? Second? [...] Third kind already? You better run, man. I think the fourth kind is a butt thing.”

“t’s fine. I mean, I’ve had time to adjust.” “Did it happen when you were kids?” “No, like, half an hour ago. “

“So, say you got a soul and you’re on a case, and your brother gets abducted by aliens— [...] what about when there are no more leads for the night? Are you supposed to just sit there in the dark and suffer, even when there’s nothing that can be done at that moment? [...] But couldn’t I just do all that and have sex with the hippie chick?”

“Nipples?”

“Dean? Did you service Oberon, King of the Fairies?”

“You’re missing a certain piece, right in the center, ain’t you?”

9x07: Bad Boys

Plot Synopsis:

Dean and Sam visit Dean's old boy's home that's now being haunted by a ghost.

Features:

John was a liar, D-Dawg, Dean’s troubled adolescence, Sonny’s home for boys, John Winchester’s A+ parenting, Dean’s first girlfriend, protection from beyond the grave.

My Thoughts:

In this house, we hate John Winchester.

I mean, in a meta sense I love him because I thrive on conflict and Dean is such an interesting character because of his relationship with John, but in reality I am just frothing with rage at a dad who would say his son can rot in jail because he was stealing food to feed his younger brother. And then he lied to Sam to make it seem like it was Dean’s choice to leave him and that he ran away. And Dean still defends his choices to Sam all these years later!

Dylan Everett is so great as young Dean, he honestly nails all the classic Dean Winchester expressions and mannerisms. And he makes me so desperately sad that I want to claw at my own face, so.

The first time I ever saw this episode, I assumed that there was going to have been a case when Dean was a teenager and that’s how Sonny knew about the family business, but there wasn’t. Dean just got to be a teenager for a couple months, and he kept in contact with Sonny all that time and felt close enough to him to tell him what the business was so that Sonny could call him if he ever had trouble. I am actively soliciting fic recs for a fic exploring Sonny and Dean’s relationship over the years. Sonny said he was proud of him, and ten years later he knew that his dad was possessed because he said that he was proud of him.

Dean is so good with kids, it’s tragic that Jack never de-aged for an episode so we could watch him be a dad to a toddler. It’s what we deserve. I just kept thinking about the line, “Hunters are never children. I never was.” I’m sad! His benchmark for good is “no one sexually assaulted me or burned me with cigarettes”! He didn’t actually like being a hunter! He wanted to be a mechanic.

I also really like that even though this episode is centered around Dean, we got a little bit of Sam character stuff as well. He understood the orphan who lost his mom in a fire. He got to see a side of his brother that he had never seen before. And because he’s the parallel to Timmy, we get to see Dean as the parallel to the ghostly mother, protecting her son to the point of causing harm, or in Dean’s case allowing a violation of his bodily autonomy to keep him alive.

Love the parallel with Drag Me Away (From You), with John as the mysterious shadow in the front seat, not the father welcoming home his child.

Notable Lines:

“It was Dad's idea. And then it just – you know, the story became the story.”

“He found me. He found me quick. But he left me here 'cause I lost our money.”

“Well, his old man called. Once he found out what happened, he said `let him rot in jail’.”

“Cars are freaking cool as hell. Fixing them is like … a puzzle, and the best part is when you're done, they leave, and you're not responsible for them anymore.”

“Sometimes you got to do what's best for you, even if it's gonna hurt the ones you love.”

“I mean, here I was thinking this was the worst part of your life, and it turns out it was the best.”

In Conclusion: This Stacked was going SO WELL and now I have to watch Carry On.
