Listen folks... I love Sokka's feminism arc as much as the next gal, but if we have to choose between his character development arcs I'd rather have his sword arc where he wrestles with the feelings of being useless amongst all the benders. If we're pressed for time, I think it's fine to make him less misogynistic. I know the point of his misogyny in the original is to showcase how you can literally be surrounded by badass women and not even see it, BUT we have that lesson in the original and we don't have time for everything
That being said, I do NOT endorse making Aang's reasonings for leaving "clearing his head". His guilt is tantamount to his character. I would argue that Sokka's story can be told without him overtly facing his misogyny or lack thereof, but Aang cannot exist without running away willfully

actually innocent is very interesting when you consider that she wrote it about witnessing the sort of downfall that she was absolutely terrified of going through herself. he was literally living through her worst fears because of something he did to her. of course she had to write a song reassuring him that this wasn’t the end when she herself very much believed it could be.

I just started reading the svsss volumes (and re-read them again because A LOT IS GOING ON) but like. This shit is so hysterically funny I don't even know where to begin.
Was no one????? Going to tell me that one of the cornerstone jokes in the damn series is that lbh's adoration for his one and only 'tism person who literally cannot express his emotions to save his life is basically genetic?????????
Was no one???? No one AT ALL going to tell me that Mobei-Jun straight up yeets Airplane at the problem in one of the scenes?????? And that in the most hilarious twist of fate Airplane then unyeets Mobei-Jun not twenty minutes later?????
It's one thing to see people joke about sqq and lbh being unable to communicate but it's on a league of its own when you have to read HUNDREDS OF PAGES of sqq's inner monologue be like 'that's my darling boy. my baby. my sugar plum pumpy umpkin you're my sweetie pie' but on the outside he says "get lost binghe" and somehow deems that an effective expression of his affection that lbh will surely understand. 'Why is lbh whining and crying and tugging at my sleeve like a plaintive wife, why is he so angry?' Sqq asks, the entire circus, as lbh is about to fling himself off a cliff for attention--
In short, MXTX is the queer comedian of our generation and nobody appreciates her enough

saw a post on reddit the other day that i can’t stop thinking of that was saying that xehanort shouldn’t have gotten a redemption arc in kh3 and like 1. not a redemption arc, he just had a moment of humanity and characterization as he died, different things 2. we have been humanizing xehanort. since his first appearance. the literal first time we see xehanort original flavor is as a kid standing on the beach at destiny islands wishing he could see the world. that’s our literal first encounter with him! and our second encounter is him taking a kid who he thinks is dying to that same beach so he can die in peace! did he also kill that kid? very much so! but he has been a complicated and deeply human villain since he showed up of course as he dies his friend forgives him. of course he does.

what a lot of people don't seem to understand about the pjo show, or about the criticizm it's facing, is that it was always marketed as Extremely Book Accurate. And then it wasn't. At all. The tv show is following a basic outline of the plot, which on it's own is. whatever, i guess, but it was specifically marketed as book. accurate. so now that they're changing things, people are disappointed. which is a natural reaction.
idk i'm seeing a lot of hate on people who dare to say a single bad word about the show bc "it's an adaptation, obviously it's not gonna be 1:1 😡" or "that's how rick wanted it 😡😡" and that's just. not how that works.

ah okay. I literally just got home tonight and unfortunately i do not have another week or two with Gertrude. She’s mouth breathing and bleeding heavily from her nose. Obviously that’s not fair to her so Doc is going to meet me at the clinic in an hour or two so we can give her a comfortable end.

katsuki jumps, startlingly, when you rub a hand up his back.
he's leaned too far down, bent over the counter at an angle that will give him an ache he'll complain about later, and his head whips up as you come to stand beside him. an e-mail on his phone is what previously had his full attention, but now he looks at you, eyes softening as you lean into his shoulder.
he's never been a very touchy guy. even after a year into your relationship, it's most often you reaching for his hand as you walk down the street; you pressing a kiss into his cheek while watching a movie on the couch; you running a hand through his hair as his breath steadies out beside you in bed.
it's not something you really complain about. you know how he is, knew before anything developed between the two of you, and you can't say it's a deal-breaker. there's little you know about his previous relationships or if he even had any, but you have the painful-gut feeling that affection just isn't something he's used to.
you press a smile into the sleeve of his shirt and his spine relaxes under your hand, finds that awful curve again. he watches you like he's waiting for something, tracing the tender details of your face.
"love you," you say, because do and you want to voice it aloud, put it into his mind even though you know he knows. as expected, his lips flatten into a wavering little line, shy suddenly, and your teeth wet the fabric of his shirt when you smile.
all you get is a little grunt in response and he dips his chin down in a wordless nod, accepting your lovey-dovey assault. it makes him feel a little helpless, you know, but you bring up an arm to wrap around him as he turns back to his phone, ears pink.
katsuki straightens with a dull pop!, stretching his arms up and allowing you to shuffle closer, so that your head is resting on his chest. you press your ear to it and wait, eyes closed, until the heavy promise of his heartbeat echoes like a drum in your ear. it's loud, and after a moment, your own falls into sync, right where it belongs.
"'s'wrong?"
"hm?" you glance up at him, the frown on his pink face, before breathing in the clean scent of his laundry soap. your laundry soap. and then you shake your head. "nothin'. just missed you."
"been home all day."
"i know," you sigh, letting your eyes fall shut again. the sound of his phone locking clicks and you can feel the slight down-slide of his sweatpants when he pockets it. "sometimes i miss you even though you're right here."
you expect — something; another grunt or laugh through his nose, a raspy little noise that voices his confusion. things like this can be hard for him; you know how he is, knew before anything ever developed between the two of you — but you don't think it makes him any less deserving.
katsuki steps back from you a little, and you feel the hesitant rise of his arm before you feel it. his hand comes up to your face — pink and scarred in your peripheral vision — and he tilts your head up, waits until you open your eyes.
when you do, it looks as if a million things are running through his head. his poker-face is good, it has to be, but you can see little bits of his vulnerability shining through. you wonder how long it's been since he showed it to anybody. he almost looks sad.
katsuki squeezes your cheeks until your lips pucker, and his frown deepens when you laugh. "y're so...damn weird."
that's along the lines of what you were anticipating: one of his teasing little insults, warm with a fire he's still learning how to kindle. you don't get the chance to say anything before he's kissing you, eyes shut tight, lashes brushing against your own.
you expect something soft, because affection is a fickle thing, from him — but his hand never falls from your face and his tongue is sliding with yours suddenly, a heated gesture that throws your heart out of whack. you let him kiss you as deeply as he can, until your back arches painfully backward over the counter as he leans into you.
when he pulls away, his lips are a little swollen and his cheeks are burning, as he presses one into yours. "i—jus'—" katsuki tries and then abandons it, a hand curling into the material of your shirt. "i get it." he murmurs, there, into the heated skin of your face, heart beating in time with yours.
things like this are hard with him — but he makes them so, so worth it.

as i am currently on that transmasc bloodcycle bullshit, it occurs to me i have a trans blorbo i can in fact make suffer with me
and while im projecting, why not give leo my habit of announcing his predicament in the funniest way possible
#rottmnt#rise of the tmnt#rise leo#rise donnie#my art#this is my go to way of saying im on my cycle#my siblings are entirely unimpressed and used to it#leos family is too#but between the immense injuries he got during the invasion and everyone being kinda emotionally fragile for a bit#i think he probably skipped a couple months and wasnt in the mood to play into his usual antics when it did return#but this is long enough after it all that everyones mostly healed up#and emotionally starting to recover#and leos the sort of bitch that the louder he is the less serious the drama is#(affectionate)#so if he walks in a room and shouts that hes bleeding#its more likely hes got a papercut than any actual injury#don knows this#hense why he catches on so quick#and seeks vengance for the half-a-second of genuine concern#(tbh hes probably internally relieved to hear leo make any type of joke or dramatics again at all)#also#i dont have any personal interest in diving in depth to what a mutant turtle teenagers period looks like or involves#my boy bleeds and is uncomfy cos i am bleeding and uncomfy#(tbh in all likelihood hed not have to deal w this at all cos splints and donnie would have long since found a way to get T & other meds)#edit: moved the trans flag down a couple panels to help the pacing of the joke
