In regards to this: I talked to doc some more. He’s going to call Purdue next week and see how much of the work up we’d be able to get done here. So hopefully it won’t end up being such a painful total

Yes, Purdue University. I’m a bit over 3 hours away though, so we’re not necessarily neighbors.
I’m also going to use this ask to post about the call back I just got from Purdue. It was NOT great.
They called me back early this morning. Was very happy to hear from them until they informed me the estimate they gave me did not include the work up, which would be an additional $1,800 to $2,000.
This practically doubles the total cost. If I hadn’t already done the gofundme I’d just wipe my hands of this and have doc do the surgery to remove one of them. But the fact that I’ve now got half the money in my bank account makes that a little more complicated.
Doc said he’d be willing to talk with their doctor and see how much of the work up they’d let him do here, which hopefully could lower the cost. Otherwise I could see about refunding the money. Refunding the money that hasn’t processed looks like it’d be pretty simple. But the stuff that’s already transferred to my savings account looks like it would be a nightmare.
Gonna take some time to think on this before I make any official decisions or announcements on the gofundme. But eugh 😵💫

romance book rec from someone who also doesnt usually read romance but also devoured half a soul: emily wildes encyclopedia of fairies! i havent read the follow up book yet which came out recently, but the first one was delicious! (in case you haven't read it yet)

I do really appreciate the recommendations! No disrespect to smut authors or people who are really into smut, but it was getting so frustrating to hear a recommendation only to find out it was more porn than actual plot. I can’t even bring myself to be interested in sex in real life, so trying to read about it is just so boring.

someday I will stop posting book content on here. but for a long time now I’ve tried to find a romance novel I enjoy. Nothing against the genre, I really want to like it, but after several DNFs I started to think it just wasn’t the genre for me.
Picked up Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater hoping for an easy read after finishing LOTR. I did not just finish said romance book, I devoured it. If I didn’t have grown up responsibilities I would have sat down and read it all in one sitting.

btw if you’re curious about the kind of week I have been having. please view a picture of the THIRD time this week that Valentine has dumped over his water bowl while doing his Dinner Dance. As well as my attempt to very carefully add 80 pounds of sand to Otto’s aquarium without causing a huge sandstorm. (don’t worry, he’s not in there).
Not pictured is the awful pigsty state my entire house is in and the bowel movement someone not only had on the bath mat, but also smash into it. Oh, also Kenny’s puke all over my toilet lid and down the side of the toilet.

How's Lucy getting along if you don't mind my asking? She was an unexpected addition so i keep thinking about her!
She’s still pretty unpleasant. Sometimes I can pet her and she really enjoys it. Other times she growls at me and tries to slap or bite me. I can probably get her eye ointment in about 25% of the time. The other times I’m risking my fingers so I just don’t bother.

Thank you again to everyone who donated to the fundraiser! A very generous donation was made last night and got us to our goal!
I called Purdue yesterday to check on Persephone’s referral. They told me I’d be hearing from them by the end of the week at the latest.
