Not that it really matters but the thing about the Darry Trial™ in AGoT that I think so many people get wrong is that Sansa was protecting Arya when she said she didn't remember what happened by the Trident. Lets say Sansa told the truth in that scene; she'd necessarily have to include that Arya hit Joffrey with a broomstick, because he was cutting Mycah's cheek for hitting Arya, and that's what led to the fight that had Nymeria biting Joff. But if Sansa said this then Arya would be wrongly seen as the guilty party.

Like, these people didn't care that Mycah was killed, so why would this room full of nobles and mostly Lannister knights care that Joffrey cut him on the cheek? They'd most likely view the situation as their Crown Prince chastising an impudent peasant for hitting highborn Lady Arya Stark. So Arya attacking her "defender" over this could be seen as an unjust (or even an irrational/crazed) assault on the future king. Don't get me wrong, I think Arya was totally right to beat Joff, just like Dunk was right to beat Aerion for the same reason, but their classist and sexist nobility isn't going to view the situation like we do.

And as we learn later, the punishment for striking a royal is to lose the hand that struck them. Do I think Robert would've cut Arya's hand off? No, of course not, but I'm sure that Sansa thought her sister would be punished in some way if she confirmed that Arya had hit a royal. We don't actually learn that Robert thinks the whole affair is no big deal until after Sansa has spoken and with further context we know that Sansa is frightened by Robert... so ya'know.

Forget about Celegorm hair colour discourse, my controversial take (in the sense of going against the main depiction found in fandom) is that Maglor and Curufin are brunettes (as is the Noldorin standard*).

Maglor is the only son of Fëanor without any kind of physical description whatsoever, implying he doesn't deviate from the norm in that regard, and Curufin is only ever said to resemble Feanor "very much in face" (HoME XII), i.e. sharing his fathers facial features, but is never noted for black hair the way Finwë ("he had black hair", HoME XII), Fëanor ("his hair raven-dark", The Silmarillion VI) and Caranthir ("he was black-haired as his grandfather", HoME XII) are.

The same also goes for Fingolfin and his children.

*I take dark brown (at most) as the "default", since every instance of black hair is specifically mentioned, similar to the other deviations from the norm such as Mahtan, Maedhros and the Ambarussa, or Míriel, or the Arafinwëans. So I find reading a simple "dark" (or lack of any description to the contrary, regarding Noldor) as "brown" the most plausible.

Right I'm not saying Odin's not had a terrible amount of colonialism and war going on over his however-long-it's-been reign but when Thor wants to lay waste to Jotunheim and Odin tells him off for this it's not just hypocrisy at work, because the Odin of the timeframe of that movie seems sure that this would be Wrong not just politically bothersome and yet he also doesn't really explain to Thor why things are different now and putting that together what you have is this: Odin can't explain his own apparent change of heart without revealing that "oh yeah your brother's a Jotun," even though he must be fairly sure that this information would stop Thor's xenophobic bloodlust in its tracks as effectively as it did his own.
