I miss playing my spooky goth Cleric. My IRL group had to stop playing due to health concerns (thanks covid) and probably won't get back together for the foreseeable future, but damnit, I want to play her again! Or the very self indulgent kitsune I also made! The best part of DnD for me is sitting around an actual table with friends, getting to paint minis to represent their characters, impressing them with cool monsters and stuff. I lose that with online stuff, and even though we've tossed the idea around I'm still super reluctant to do it online for some reason.

the sheer number of incredibly intricate worlds and characters that i have created with people who i am no longer friends with so that i can no longer talk about those characters or use those settings. i only got half the dog in the divorce do you know what i mean

#i have all these characters but they're missing their FRIENDS and their ORIGINAL CIRCUMSTANCES #people will never understand roleplay with original settings and original characters.#imagine if you played dnd purely by talking about the characters and their relationships with each other and their themes and motifs #and did all the little roleplay scenarios but wrote about it. and then made a bunch of supplementary material for your characters.#and then like. instead of one character you've got like three of them and they're all Part of this collaborative world #mourning the group of like. dkjfghs. nine friends from a fantasy world. i only have claim to like three of them #the rest... again. only half the dog #i WILL use prydwen elsewhere. because i'm in love with him and that's important in a character. he's literally my silly rabbit #but GOD i want to get my fucking hands on people's intellectual property sometimes #i was the ONLY one doing cool shit with the fantasy sci-fi world this one person created and i WANT to do more with it!!!#and like. how am i supposed to use zephyr without stealing the incredibly specific circumstances that they were created out of #anyway. frustrating. at least i have prydwen. hugging him like a teddy bear #yeah girl i have ocs except i don't talk about them on tumblr i'm in my little roleplay servers that i created the ocs for dskfgh #honestly i have probably talked about faedren more than any actual character of mine from like. i do miss my old campaign very much sometimes it’s was really hard and anxiety inducing to DM but my friends always hyped me up so much and it felt like i had a purpose and was actually creating something real and it inspired me to make so much art… i just don’t really have that anymore… like i made comics of cool moments we had and i made this whole ass map and so much concept art and meme and stuff and i just hope we can get back to it someday

#as tho being fifteen and asking your friends to ask a favour for you is a personal slight #or that the bb game was planned weeks in advance when im pretty sure they said they found out the night bfor bc they won that game #at most it would have a week notice #that that was the schedule. and hlfre was a weekly club. not an event. a weekly activity #so like ya i gues ls could have asked for the reschedule but it was already clear eddie held no love for jocks so why would he think eddie #would do that for him? mike and dustin had better chances considering Dustin's closeness to eddie.#also playing a major session let alone a finale without one of your players sucks bc you play to have fun with friends #literally like. eddie is 19/20. lucas is 15. and already an outsider in hlfre as demod by the distain for 'jocks'#this aint all on him #and acting like lucas feeling like ddie doesnt like him is irrational is just. idk. insulting #i was trying to be vague and then wasnt lmao #basically if i were lucas i would have absolutely asked mynfriend who was club leaders fave to ask to reschedule dnd bc #i wasnt expecting our team to get to the finals but still wanted to play the FINALE SESSION #i get the other members would have been bummed but like. my desire to make more dnd characters vs the fact that I’m in no campaigns and don’t know when or if I’ll be in a campaign are fighting

#whimsy whispers #I was in the one campaign that I left and like #I am particular about people in that I don’t like people so if I were to play in a campaign ideally it would be with people I know and like #because i also do not feel all that comfortable playing with strangers #I have a few irls who play or want to but they’re in too many campaigns or are people I don’t want to play with #example being: my roommate kane plays dnd but has several campaigns they’re in #their dad them their sister me and my irl have played dnd together before (very loosely calling it dnd)#I would not play with that group of people again namely their dad who dmed #the only person from that group who had any dnd experience was kane #their dad was just A Lot and went out of his way to hurt and torture out characters and I didn’t vibe with that like please we don’t have to #get hurt to the point of newr death every four minutes just kill me #all the friends I have who play dnd also have far too many campaigns they’re in rn or just don’t live where I do and don’t prefer online #campaigns and I’ve been invited to play one campaign by a mutual and I’ve been added to the server (hi if you see this 💖)#I just am ;-; about new people and playing with new people #the first legit campaign I played was with people I did not know and while I’m friends with them now (though rsd says otherwise) I was very #like uncomfortable and uncertain of if I was playing properly or annoying them and tbh I stayed that way up until I left the campaign for #realsies #uhhh anyways I like dnd a lot it’s very fun and I miss playing it and like making dnd characters #but I have too many also #and I’m not creative enough to make them normal ocs I can hardly do anything with my actual original characters and stories I can’t just #make up a whole new story for the characters and I don’t do well at repurposing characters either

#i have done so much this weekend that i do not feel like i had a weekend. and i havent missed a single class all semester #(* that wasnt a class i genuinely couldnt make for extraneous personal reasons and even then it was just model drawing)#and tomorrow we have scenog which has been exceedingly boring and johanna whom i love but her assignments require so much effort #and i am. tired. and i am going to a play that evening and on wednesday i've scheduled dnd (i havent scheduled shit well i realise this)#and i just have paper deadlines coming up argh #like i know th obvious choice is to cancel dnd but there are many many reasons i dont want to do that #most to do with personal suffering my friends have undergone recently and i want to go back to some levity with and for them #anyway. sound off
