murphy's law sneak peek

author's note: this is just a look into what i've been working on the past few months (again, my b for being the most inconsistent writer ever). please let me know your thoughts! i'm hoping to finish this up VERY soon!! so here are the first two and a half pages of this fic! :))))))

mat barzal x beau's step-sister!reader (bc i'm not white and wanted to leave the reader racially neutral.)

summary:nothing good could come from sleeping with your (step) brother's best friend.

when anthony was traded to vancouver, you felt like the rug had been pulled out from under you. he was your rock since you were twelve when your mom and his dad got married. he was there when you finished your undergrad, and offered up the spare room in his apartment when you started your master's degree at columbia.

but with his new job back in your home country, you knew there was no way you could afford to stay in his apartment. after all, you were nowhere close to making the millions of dollars he did.

"don't worry about it," he said. "i have it taken care of."

what he didn't say was that the solution was staying in mat's extra room.

it wouldn't be that big of a deal, you knew mat just from the sheer amount of time he and anthony spent together. if it wasn't seeing him at games, it was out at bars, or in your shared apartment when you got home from class.

but despite all the interactions you had, almost none of them were meaningful. everything you knew about him started and ended with your connection to tito. and neither of you cared to remedy that.

it didn't mean you two were hostile, didn't even mean that you didn't like each other. it just meant that when tito wasn't around, you two didn't talk.

until you started living together.

the t-shirt incident

it wasn't intentional, you'd swear up and down that it wasn't. you recalled mat's text that he would be out that night and not to wait up for him (not that you ever did, but the sentiment was clearly communicated: stay out of the common areas).

you weren't even doing anything special that night, your boyfriend was out of town on a work trip and you hadn't met friends outside of the islander wags just yet (all of whom were busy that night). so you treated yourself to a shower and a face mask. you'd just finished washing it off when you heard the front door close.

truthfully, you almost stayed in your room until you realized your water cup was empty, and you might've let it go if it wasn't for the past few nights where you woke up craving a sip of water. but you'd like to think you were a considerate roommate, so you waited five minutes for mat to go to his room before you planned on going into the kitchen.

you didn't realize your mistake until you walked into the living room and caught mat and a girl, both shirtless.

to be honest, you weren't sure who screamed first, if it was you or the other girl. you managed to see her lunge for her shirt right as you covered your eyes with one hand and dropped your cup on the floor.

"oh my god," was all you could say.

but the other girl clearly wasn't rendered speechless like you were because she yelled "you didn't say you had a girlfriend, asshole!" before slamming the front door behind her.

you didn't move, couldn't move, too mortified to even acknowledge what you'd just interrupted. very slowly, like he couldn't see you, you bent down and fumbled around with one hand, blindly searching for the cup.

the couch creaked, followed by a heavy sigh from mat. "you can look, you know? nothing you probably haven't seen before."

you peeked between your fingers and saw mat pulling his shirt back on. you dropped your hand and stood up straight almost as soon as he was fully clothed.

cue the apology tour.

"oh my god, mat, i am so sorry! i totally wasn't thinking, i thought you were in your room by this point and i needed water. i didn't even think about what it would look like to your lady friend, if you'd like i can try to catch her before she gets in a cab and explain the situation?"

mat blinked at you. "lady friend?" he asked.

you shrugged. "well, she's a lady, and a friend."

he let out a dry laugh, though his lips didn't curl up in a smile. maybe it was more of a scoff? "friend is a bit of an overstatement. i don't even remember her name."

the room went silent before you caught mat staring at your chest. you glanced down and the urge to dig a hole and die in it crossed your mind.

the seattle thunderbirds logo was staring you in the face.

"oh god, our laundry must've gotten mixed up i'm sorry--"

"i was wondering where that shirt went."

you grabbed the bottom of the shirt before you remembered stripping in front of your new roommate was probably not the best thing to do.

"i can rewash it for you."

he nodded, but otherwise didn't offer anymore commentary.

so you scooped up the cup from the floor and sheepishly sidestepped your way into the kitchen.

and even though it took approximately four seconds to pour yourself a glass of water, you hid in the kitchen until you heard the telltale click of mat's bedroom door.

part of you thought it was best to stay out of his way the next morning, to let mat meander throughout the apartment before he went to his morning skate.

but then you thought about your childhood, and how you pissed anthony and francis off when you were fourteen so you baked them cookies after school and magically, everything was okay between the three of you by the end of the day.

so you woke up earlier than you normally would've to make mat breakfast. you'd made anthony breakfast before, surely mat's diet was about the same?

the eggs were nearly done when you heard his door open. it was only a matter of time before he joined you in the kitchen. you had his protein shaker bottle sitting on the island next to the plate of bacon you'd made. the toast had just popped out of the toaster.

"morning," mat said when he walked into the kitchen.

you whipped your head around to smile at him before focusing on the eggs in front of you. "hope you're hungry," you said. "i made breakfast."

you pulled the pan off the burner and placed them on a potholder. "wasn't sure how you liked your eggs, anthony likes his scrambled, so i just made them scrambled, hope that's okay."

he shrugged and mumbled a quiet thank you before helping himself to the meal you made and fixing his protein shake. you waited until he'd helped himself to the food and took a seat at the island before you said anything, just staring at his profile until he took a bite of the toast.

"i really am sorry about last night," you started. "it wasn't on purpose, i promise." you cleared your throat and made yourself busy by fixing your plate. "next time, i'll just go stay at someone else's place."

mat snorted into his protein shake. a sly smirk was on his lips when he pulled the drink away.

"what?" you asked, looking straight at him.

mat shook his head. "if you left every time i brought a girl over, you'd never be home."

you flushed and directed your eyes back to your plate. "oh."

you couldn't see mat run a hand down his face, but you could hear him sigh. "look," he said and you picked your head up to look into his eyes. "it's just going to be an adjustment. i'll make sure to text you when i'm coming home with a girl and i'll take her to my room as quickly as possible."

"and i'll make myself scarce until the morning."

mat shrugged. "i mean, you live here too, i'm not asking you to be holed up in your room, just maybe don't make an appearance in my shirt until i've at least told the girl about you?"

you nodded almost immediately. "i can do that. i swear, after today, i won't be a problem anymore! you can have literally all the girls over and you won't even know i'm here!"

if only that were true.

Theories for WHB

These are purely speculative and base on what we got from the official site, character sheets, etc.

Lucifer and "Some of the devils from Paradise Lost" are Fallen angels

Bathin and Buer despite being or former of Paradise Lost are not Fallen angels.

Morax and Marbas both lose an eye, which judging from we saw from the angels. They all have one eye different or hidden, because that eye is a sign that they are affiliated to Heaven, best example is Michael's eye.

The only that holds theory back is that Marbas has his missing eye on his left, not right.

Also... That means that Lucifer's design might have him with an eyepatch or his bangs is covering it.

Belphegor's Strain/Distant Relationship with the other kings

This is purely speculative because of his placement in the Gacha screen.

Like I and many others assume the dummy at the back is Lucifer, but with closer look, Lucifer's sigil is on the dummy next to Satan and Leviathan.

This is gut feeling and with the knowledge that Belphegor rebel against heaven he didn't want to work. That Maybe they use that part of his lore but with the kings. Like he did something that made the other kings distrust him in the past.

The connect of Solomon "Death/Disappearance" to Beelzebub's leaving Avisos/Abyssos.

The only thing that hold this theory together is the date/year it all happened. B.C. 931

The Possible of Andrealphus' family and friends isn't really dead

Thanks to @d34dlysinner for bringing to my attention.

So in the missing Solomon teaser, the devil crossed out might be Andrealphus' friends and family.

And with knowing that Raphael is the angel in this post, it make sense!

But what I'm thinking is that... Raphael might not killed them, and Andrealphus assume that they might be dead, but what if they were turned into angels.

This would be more painful for Andrealphus if he's being killing angels and he might've killed his own friends and family.

The Final Temptation is the reason the other three will reveal themselves to MC

So, from what we've seen, the main goal of "Season 1" is breaking the contact with the 72 nobles/devils. But what I was wondering is that they never once mention about the Final temptation concept in any of the vids about the story and game play/system.

And this made me think... what if the Final Temptation mention in the app stores version was a hint of plot of a future story in the game.

And I'll even go out and say that this might be their way to introduce the other three sins/kings.

Like, I was curious is to why the other kings haven't been revealed yet when we see some of their nobles.

Then I had a thought, maybe they didn't want to get involve with MC just yet, but as soon as the idea of the Final Temptation was mention they thought that maybe its time to meet MC.

So here's how I think it'll go.

MC finish all 72 devils contracts and even it pains the kings and nobles, MC has to go back to the human.

But even with their power is fully unlocked, it's still not enough to win or end the war.

So some of them tried to look for a different way to end the war and that's how they stumble upon the Final temptation. Or one of the other kings (Lucifer, Asmodeus or Belphegor) brought this to the other four kings.

And there we have a plot for Season 2 :D

The breaking of the contract required both party (MC and said Nobles) feel mutual or has strong feelings

Now, this is just me and my thoughts on this moment with Zagan.

Here's a thing, I have no problem with Sitri calling us as Solomon, because he at least knows that we are our own person.

While with Zagan... He compare us with Solomon.

Now, here's my theory with this... What if when MC and Zagan try to break his contract is because Zagan doesn't have real feels or doesn't see MC as someone to respect.

So when he and MC tried to figure out what's the reasoning, they get to know each other better and there, Zagan is MC as their own person.

Thus, when they tried it again and this time it works.

This also give a reason why MC can't just go around and breaking the contracts, it gives the other nobles a chance to develop and make the story interesting.

So far, this is all my theories for now, and there are some I missed because I forgot about it or I missed it completely.

I see a lot of debate on this fandoms found family obsession and I want to add my two cents and headcannons that no one reaaaallllyyyyy cares about.

I think there's a balance of it that's good. For example, I think interpreting Maya and Phoenix as siblings is just as valid as best friends. Siblings can be best friends, my own sister is literally my best friend. It works with the dynamic of them both feeling like they're taking each other in after Mia's death, and I see their banter and can relate it to how my sister and I treat each other.

On the other hand, I don't like it when people give Phoenix and Apollo the father-son dynamic. I think there is a level of protectiveness from Phoenix, coming from seeing some of himself when he was younger in Apollo, as well as knowing he's Trucy's brother. But Apollo is an adult who looked up to Phoenix when he was younger, just his trust betrayed. At first it's a case of never meet your idols for Apollo. He also finds him irritating. I think there is a point where those two can get on good terms and Apollo forgives Phoenix, but they aren't family. It's a different type of love and care. They are mentor and mentee. Apollo will always find Phoenix annoying too, he just gets used to it and that irritation no longer is from a place of resentment, just Phoenix pushing his buttons.

As far as Athena goes, I haven't played much of DD yet because I started as the new trilogy got announced and decided to wait, but I think it's another case of Phoenix being protective but not quite in an adopted kid sense. He sees a young girl who needs some love, care, and guidance. You can love and care for someone a bit like a daughter without going all the way into they are my daughter territory. Trucy and Athena? Best friends. You know how so many of us have best friends that are basically like a sibling but we don't literally feel like siblings? That's them. They are an unstoppable duo.

As far as Edgeworth and Kay goes, I haven't finished AAI but I do see a little bit of adopted father-daughter dynamic, but not as intense. Kay is very self sufficient and made it through her teen years without her own dad or Edgeworth in her life. They are bonded over the shared trauma of losing a parent at the courthouse and Edgeworth is protective of her and his door is always open for her in the good and the bad. The paternal instinct is there and he would help her through anything. I feel like Kay called him Dad by accident one time and that did make them more like family, but apart from emotional times or jokes, he is Mr Edgeworth.

On the note of Edgeworth, I'm not keen on the adopting basically the entire prosecutor's office. I just don't feel like that's Edgeworth. I do think he softens yes. I do think he cares about his employees, but it's the vibe of a good boss being on professionally friendly terms. They can go to him for help, sometimes not work related. He can be a mentor. But he's their boss first and foremost, and in a more Edgeworth sense than Phoenix. More by the book. So yes he cares about them and can sometimes be protective, but not in a family way.

I do like Edgeworth eventually becoming Trucy's other Dad, but it takes time. For a long time he's Uncle Edgeworth and it takes him a long time to adjust to that even. Eventually he starts treating Trucy like a daughter, Phoenix pulls him up on it, he has a bit of a crisis. This is after the 7yg when Phoenix no longer has to live in the shell he did before getting his name cleared, therefore being able to officially be with Miles. Point being it's not immediate. He does immediately live Trucy but his instinct isn't familial for a while.

Honestly me explaining this hasn't completely gotten what's in my head across about I hope you get what I mean.

Also, at the end of the day everyone can have their own interpretation of the game. People will make it what they need it to be and that's okay. As long as what you are going with isn't illegal or straight up gross, go ahead. These are my own conclusions I've come to and it's these interpretations I look for in the media I consume, but whatever fuels your love for this series is what matters ✨

Oh boy is this long overdue. Ahoy Doe, I finally finished this request! I hope you don't mind me using the scenario for Whumptober, and please enjoy the story ^-^

Whumptober Day 28

Katakuri x Reader

"What do you mean [Y/n]'s gone?"

The guards paled as a heavy aura from Katakuri engulfed them. They haven't even had the chance to inform him about the situation, yet his fury is emitting and leaving the servants terrified under his gaze. His brows narrowed when he received no response, he reached down and picked up one of the servants.

"Who took [Y/n]?" Katakuri inquired, his voice hinting at his intention of seeking vengeance. However, he never let the servant speak and dropped him when he got his answer. "Gather a fleet, I'm going to save [Y/n], and we're going to erase those pirates."

You kept your glare on the pirates outside your cage, wishing you could burn holes through their skulls. They were snickering amongst themselves over a game of cards, telling themselves what a good idea it was to take you hostage for ransom. They really don't know the forces they were messing with, do they? You weren't able to point out their mistake yet when one of their men open the cabin's door.

"Captain, there's a small ship in the distance," he reported as he held the door wide open.

"Seems like your buyers are here," the captain smirked at you.

"You're fools if you think Big Mom would pay you your demands," you stated. The man laughed in response, only stopping when he looked back at your glaring eyes.

"That's what you believe," he grinned crouching down in front of your cage. "But we're going to be the ones rolling in gold."

"Uh captain," the lookout nervously called down to the deck.

"What is it now?" The man questioned with annoyance growling in his tone.

"It's a fleet of ships- a fleet of ships from Big Mom!" The subordinate warned, pointing toward the rear of the ship.

The captain dropped the heavy sack he carried and dashed to the back of the ship. Sure enough, the massive fleet was tailing them, and the small ship had already left. He growled and gripped the rail as his gaze landed on the sweet general leading the army, Katakuri.

Having the enemy in sight, Katakuri turned his head to address the crew. "Don't fire cannons just yet, I want [Y/n] safe in my possession first. Kill the enemies who resist and hold the others hostage, wait for my order to eliminate them," Katakuri instructed, receiving salutes in response. Looking back at the tiny vessel, he gripped his fist. "Just hang in there, [Y/n]. I'll make them pay!'

Ringing his arm behind his head, Katakuri threw the first attack, extending his mochi arm and taking out the enemy's mast. They slowed down while their sails sunk to the bottom of the ocean, letting the fleet surround them and board. The events turned into a massacre rather than a fight as the Charlottes painted the deck in blood, Katakuri dealing out the brutal fatalities to each pirate he faced.

Heading down to the cabins, Katakuri tore anything that stood in his way of getting to you. Heads, doors, planks, they were all scattered in his search. Reaching the end of the hall and tearing open the last door, Katakuri found himself in a room full of chests and cages, and in the corner stood the enemy captain, frozen in place. Katakuri's eyes glowed red and he sent a punch at the man, immobilizing him in mochi.

"Where's [Y/n]?" Katakuri demanded the whereabouts.

The captain gave him a smirk and a glow from Katakuri's eyes made him step back. The Charlotte glanced at the empty cage with a torn piece of your sleeve left behind. With widened eyes, he ran out of the room and onto the deck. Going to the front of the ship, trying to find any traces of the small ship, Katakuri could only see his family's ships on the horizon as the unspoken words of the pirate taunted his mind.

"I already sold her off."

summary: where Ethan and the reader take Kylian to a funny day.

part one

Yes. He said yes.

Even though you beat him because he was planning to propose to you that weekend, he didn't hesitate for a second to say yes and throw hours of planning away.

You are very happy now that you are engaged to the love of your life, and all thanks to his little brother.

You thought about it a lot and decided that the best idea would be to have a "funny day" together, as a way of thanking Ethan and also so that your fiancé would stop pestering you for not knowing what the "funny day" is.

You are very excited because you really like the idea of the three of you spending the whole day together, you just hope that what you think is right and that they like the idea too.

You are now finishing washing the kitchen utensils you used to prepare the cake that Ethan and Kylian are eating while playing FIFA.

All you hear are their complaints about missing a goal and the celebrations when they score one.

You smile slightly when you hear Ethan teasing Kylian after beating him 3-2, you can imagine your partner's annoyed face.

—You cheated –you hear your fiancé accuse your brother-in-law.

—It is obvious that you are hurt by the fact that I beat you and you have to justify your defeat.

Ouch, that must have hurt.

Kylian sighs so exaggerated that you can hear him from the kitchen.

You finish drying your hands listening to them fight again and go to the living room, sitting between them making them move to give you more space.

—What's going on, guys?

—It's him! –both say at the same time pointing at each other.

They are like little children.

—Okay, I don't care about your game –they look at you with an annoyed face– but you know Ethan, I was thinking of something.

—What?

—How about bringing Kylian to a funny day?

You see your boyfriend beaming and Ethan frowning.

—Not in a million years.

Kylian pouts and your smile fades.

—But why not? I think it will be fun to be all three together, like when you were younger and we took care of you, remember?

Your brother-in-law looks at you and then looks at his brother.

—Y/N, can we talk alone? –Kylian looks at Ethan stunned.

—But why can't I hear what you are going to talk about? –without answering, Ethan takes your hand and leads you into the kitchen.

—Ethan –you cross your arms.

—Y/N –he crosses his arms too.

—Why don't you want him to come?

Your brother-in-law chuckles slightly.

—Of course I want him to come, I just want to annoy him –you shake your head and slap him on the back of the neck.

—Don't be mean to him, he's sensible –your brother-in-law rolls his eyes.

—I just want to have some fun.

—Well, if you want him to come, why did you bring me here?

—I was going to ask you if you talked to him about what I told you.

You frown, not understanding.

—What did you tell me? –Ethan buffs with annoyance.

—Marriage.

You feel a flutter in your stomach when you hear him say it, you are about to tell him the truth but you prefer to wait.

—No, I haven't had the chance yet, but if I do, you'll be the first to know –you wink at him, making him laugh as you two leave the kitchen.

—You better.

The first thing you see when you get to the living room is Kylian sitting in the chair with his arms crossed, Ethan sits next to him ignoring him as he uses his phone causing his older brother to huff in annoyance.

—And Ethan? Have you already decided if I'm suitable for your freaky day or whatever?

Your brother-in-law quickly locks his phone and glares at him as you squint at Kylian as well.

—I had accepted you –your boyfriend frowns.

—Had you accepted me?

—Yes, I had accepted you, in the past.

—In the past?

—In the past.

You smile slightly as you see how Ethan plays on his older brother's anger.

—And why before yes and now no?

—Because you said "freaky day".

Kylian laughs but stops when he sees that you are also serious.

It's more fun than it should bother him.

—Amour, don't tell me you're offended too.

—A lot –you cross your arms and Kylian turns to see Ethan.

—I didn't mean to offend you guys.

—But that's what you did –you say.

—Please tell me how I can make it up to you.

You and Ethan share a look and a mischievous smile spreads across both your faces as Kylian grows more and more scared.

—Do you know who Pooh Mbappé is?

—I can't believe I'm really doing this –Kylian says before getting into the car and sitting in the back seat.

You and Ethan laugh wickedly and high five, two days ago your brother-in-law agreed to bring your boyfriend who ended up taking Ethan's deal.

Our apologies for saying "freaky day" in exchange for him walking through the supermarket with Pooh Mbappé and treating him like a baby.

And besides, (because your brother-in-law is very cautious) he can't hide from the paparazzi.

So now there are all four of you in the car, you in the driver's seat, Ethan in the passenger seat, and Kylian in the back seats with Pooh.

You and Ethan can't stop smiling while you go to the supermarket at the thought of seeing Kylian walking around with a teddy bear and that can't bother him anymore.

—Well, since this is a funny day, we'll do all our traditions, okay? –Ethan nods and Kylian looks at you curiously.

—What traditions?

Ethan connects the Bluetooth of his phone and puts your playlist "yeaiIwidjs".

"deja vu" by Olivia Rodrigo.

You and Ethan sigh exaggeratedly and pretend to sob while your boyfriend looks at you gracefully.

—CAR RIDES TO MALIBU, STRAYBERRY ICE CREAM, ONE SPOON FOR TWO –you start to sing/scream.

—AND TRADING JACKETS, LAUGHING 'BOUT HOW SMALL IT LOOKS ON YOU –Ethan does the same.

Kylian looks at the two of you with a noticeable smile on his face, there is nothing that makes him happier than seeing you two get along so well and love each other so much.

—WATCHING RERUNS OF GLEE, BEING ANNOYING SINGING IN HARMONY, I BET SHE'S BRAGGING TO ALL HER FRIENDS SAYING YOU'RE SO UNIQUE –you two sing/scream.

—This is definitely my song –you say and your boyfriend chuckles slightly.

—Okay, here we go –Ethan says and you nod your head.

—SO WHEN YOU ARE GONNA TELL HER, THAT WE DID THAT TOO? –you and Ethan point at each other– SHE THINKS IT'S SPECIAL –you point to Kylian who is now laughing out loud– BUT IT'S ALL REUSED.

Your boyfriend, who is in tears laughing at this point, pulls out his phone and records the two of you singing/screaming to upload to an instagram story with a caption "My favorite people in the world ❤️".

Quickly all the fans showered him with messages loving the relationship you and Ethan have and telling him how lucky he is that you two get along like this, of course he knows that.

—THAT WAS OUR PLACE, I FOUND IT FIR- –you guys stopped singing/screaming when the music stopped because Ethan's phone died.

—Ethan –you complain.

—Sorry, I thought it would last longer on.

You huff in annoyance and Ethan crosses his arms looking out the window.

Kylian looks at you without saying anything for a few seconds until he decides to speak.

—And you do nothing more than this?

Ethan turns to look at his brother, then back at you.

—The story game! –you and Ethan say at the same time.

Your boyfriend frowns blankly.

—First "funny day" and now "story game", how many more terms do I have to learn being with you?

You and Ethan laugh.

—God, he has no idea.

—The story game consists of inventing the lives of the people we see on the street. For example, look at that man with his dog –you say and point at him and Kylian nods– that man is taking his dog to his ex-wife's house since they agreed that the dog would be with each other for a week.

—Oh, it looks like fun.

—Yes, but you don't play –Ethan says making Kylian pout– Look, that lady over there is a lawyer and she just lost a million-dollar lawsuit, her client hates her and threatened to take her house away so now she is going to her mother's house so she can live there.

—That's a good one –you laugh and turn to see Kylian who continues to pout.

—Ethan.

—What? –he looks at you with annoyance knowing what you are going to tell him.

—Let Kylian play.

—No.

—If you leave me aside like this, now I don't even want to imagine what you will do on my wedding day –your boyfriend answers without thinking.

Ethan's eyes widen and he looks at you both over and over in amazement.

—What- you two are...? –he stammers enough in surprise to form a complete sentence.

You and Kylian exchange a look, suppressing laughter and don't answer him.

—Don't leave me wondering –your brother-in-law complains.

Neither you nor your boyfriend answer him and he crosses his arms.

—Well, if you're not going to talk, I'll jump out of the car –he says as he unbuckles his seatbelt.

—No! No –Kylian buckles him in again and you park the car.

Ethan stares at you impatiently.

—We're getting married.

You saw your brother-in-law's eyes widen again.

—Are you serious? –you and Kylian nod with a smile and you see tears come to Ethan's eyes.

That makes you want to cry too.

Your brother-in-law hugs you sobbing while hiding his head, he is very embarrassed to cry, especially in front of you and his brother, but he can't help it.

He has been wanting you to be together since he was 8 years old and now it is more than official.

Kylian also can't help but feel a lump in his throat at the sight of the two of you, but he doesn't cry. He just stays silent looking at you with love. He couldn't be more grateful.

—You're crying –Ethan tells you without breaking away from you.

—You are also crying.

—You look ugly when you cry.

—You don't look very handsome either.

—Shut up, you two are ugly when you cry –your boyfriend is doing the talking and you and Ethan look at him completely indignant.

—I would insult you, but I am too polite to do so.

—Very polite or very scared? –Kylian annoys Ethan, who rolls his eyes.

—Okay, if we continue at this rate we will never reach the supermarket, so let's go –now it is you who speaks after wiping your tears and rejoining your seat like Ethan.

The rest of the way was very quiet, with a couple of songs being sung/shouted, another couple of made up stories, and a lot of grumbling from your boyfriend remembering his part of the deal.

You park the car and you and Ethan get out as quickly as possible, but Kylian doesn't. He is avoiding your and your brother-in-law's piercing gaze while sending text messages, possibly asking a friend for help to avoid going into the supermarket.

—Hello? Prince Kylian? –Ethan speaks sarcastically while he taps the car window slightly to get the attention of his older brother.

Kylian refuses to look at him.

—Your majesty, are you mature enough to accept that a deal is a deal and must be honored no matter what? -now you are the one who speaks to him in a sarcastic tone.

Kylian did look at you.

He huffs in obvious annoyance, unbuckles his belt, and picks up Pooh, he opens the car door holding the teddy bear and gets out.

—I will remember this as the most humiliating day of my life.

—You'll get over it, come on –you say entering the supermarket being followed by Ethan and a very embarrassed Kylian.

You and Ethan entered the place but Kylian remained on the other side of the door, covertly covering his face.

—You know that if you just stand there you will attract even more attention, right? –his younger brother asks with a teasing smile.

Your boyfriend enters feeling all eyes on him, at this moment he is not sure if it is because it is him or because of the teddy bear he is holding in his hands. He wants to believe that it is not for the second.

—Okay, what are we going to get first, candy or soda? –you ask, trying not to join in on Ethan's laughter at your boyfriend's flushed cheeks.

Kylian narrows your eyes at your lazy attempt to hold back your laughter, which makes you want to laugh more.

—Do it, laugh –your boyfriend tells you and you and your brother-in-law burst out laughing.

—I am glad to know that you are obedient.

Little by little, the people who are in the supermarket begin to notice the presence of the three of you, mostly because of your laughter and Ethan's. Several children point to Kylian with admiration fascinated with the teddy bear.

And obviously they took pictures of your boyfriend and posted them online, which soon went viral, especially on Twitter. All admired by the sweetness of Kylian Mbappé when carrying his little brother's teddy bear or better known as Pooh Mbappé.

Iconic.

When you and Ethan calmed down, you went to get the candy. When you get to the corridor you see that there are many children with their mothers choosing what to buy, they all quickly look at Kylian and Pooh, mostly to Pooh.

—A teddy bear! –several children exclaim with joy and quickly go to Kylian trying to remove it from the hands.

Your boyfriend chuckles slightly and lets one of the kids hold Pooh for a few seconds, all the moms sigh in fascination.

You don't know if it's because of your boyfriend's tenderness or because of your boyfriend's presence itself.

—I adore men who get along so well with children –one of the mothers comments looking at Kylian shamelessly, who didn't listen because he was so focused on playing with the children and the teddy bear.

Ethan nudges you, looking covertly at the woman, as if telling you to do something.

Kylian stands up and turns to look at you and Ethan.

—Hey Eth. What are the sweets you like? –he asks and Ethan goes looking for it excitedly.

The same woman from before looks at him with even more adoration and it starts to annoy you. The children calm down and return the bear to your boyfriend, but their mothers doesn't stop looking at him.

—Amour, did you see how excited the children were? –he asks and out of the corner of your eye you see several women frown.

—Yes I saw them, they are very cute.

He nods with a smile and you start looking for some candy and he does the same with Ethan.

You feel the withering gaze of women from before but you keep looking quietly.

—Hey, sis. Do you want us to take these? –your brother-in-law points out some candys and you nod.

—She said yes –the three of you chuckle slightly at the thought of the engagement and your boyfriend instinctively looks at your left hand and moves closer.

—We don't have a ring –he says.

The eyes of the children's mothers, who did not move from their place, especially when they saw Kylian approaching, widened.

—Speak lower, they could hear you –you whisper to him and he looks at you with a frown.

—So what? The problem is that we don't have an engagement ring.

The women leave upset to hear that their new crush is engaged.

—They left –your brother-in-law exclaims excitedly and he and Kylian high five.

—What? –you ask quite confused.

—I could feel his eyes on the back of my neck and also your face indicated that you were not very happy, so we made them leave –your boyfriend responds by picking Pooh up off the ground, where one of the kids left him.

—I love you both –you answer gratefully giving them a hug.

—Anyways, we have to look for the drinks now –you say leaving the corridor listening to your boyfriend complain because he remembered that more people will see him with a teddy bear.

To Kylian's joy and to your and Ethan's misfortune, the hallway is empty.

As you search for your boyfriend and brother-in-law's favorite drinks, Kylian picks up his phone and frowns.

—I'm trending on Twitter –he says with his eyes fixed on his phone, you and Ethan laugh and take your phone to see the tweets.

There are pictures of him getting out of the car with Pooh, him playing with the kids, pictures of him holding the teddy bear in one hand like a baby and a bag of candy in the other.

The hashtag "#UncleKylianToTheRescue" is trending with more than 20,000 tweets.

—That is the power of Pooh Mbappé –Ethan speaks.

—For real.

Once you bought everything, you returned to your house with lots of laughter and mockery towards Kylian.

—And now, what are we going to do? –your boyfriend asks.

—Remember the old days –you answer and he nods.

What you three did when Ethan was younger was watch movies all night, gossip and give advice.

You started doing it when neither Fayza nor Wilfried could take care of Ethan and they asked you to do it, then you started doing it more often until it became a habit. But as Kylian progressed in his career, his free time became less and less, so you and Ethan started doing it just the two of you and when your boyfriend had time, he would join you.

That's how the funny days began, which ended up becoming something just yours and Ethan's.

The movie you chose (with Ethan's consent) is Spiderman: No Way Home.

For being a very special movie for you and Ethan and also because Kylian never saw it.

Once you have all your sweets and sodas ready, the 3 of you sit down on the couch and the movie begins.

As soon as Kylian sees "Marvel Studios" on the screen, he knows that he will not understand anything.

—I don't understand, why does everyone hate Spiderman?

—Because everyone thinks that he killed Mystery.

—Who is Mystery?

You and Ethan roll your eyes playfully and Kylian crosses his arms.

—Why does the human octopus say that he is not Peter Parker?

—Because he's from another universe –Ethan replies.

—And why is he there?

—Because the spell opened the multiverse.

—And why is there only him?

—There are all those who knew that Peter Parker is Spiderman.

—But why is he there if he doesn't know Peter?

Ethan throws a pillow at Kylian who pouts.

—But don't these two have different movies?

—Yes, but they appear throughout the multiverse.

—I don't understand.

—We didn't realize it, Kylian –Ethan responds sarcastically.

You are crying over the end of the movie again while Ethan hugs you as Kylian gives you a weird look.

—But he promised –you say sobbing and Ethan nods completely moved.

—But it seems that MJ suspects something.

—She will surely notice.

Your boyfriend doesn't know what to say, it's quite difficult to say something when you see your girlfriend and your little brother sad about the end of a movie that you didn't understand.

—I don't understand why you cry.

—You didn't even understand the movie.

—I also don't understand why you chose that movie.

—Because it's one of the best movies of 2021 and it saved me from my depression over Tony Stark's death.

Kylian nods slightly and picks up his phone to answer a few messages.

You dry your tears and smile.

—Not precisely.

Hello, what do you think of optimisticDuelist's Role-playing theory? Basically, he suggested that instead of inverting, Rose was role-playing a misinterpretation of her mother's classpect. He also suggests Terezi was role-playing Redglare's Knight class while investigating Murderstuck, and that Vriska and Aranea were role-playing each other's classes. I recommend watching "HSE: Guardians and Ancestors" for more about his theory. :D

Since I'm trying to get back in the swing of things (might still take me a few weeks), I might as well remind y'all of my earlier position:

I haven't read or watched optimisticDuelist's theories yet, and I probably ought to before I make any serious judgments on the matter. Plus, I'm not caught up with HS^2's recent new updates, and I was under the impression that oD had some input into HS^2 as a whole-- I'm not sure if Andrew gave the writers and collaborators on that project the latitude to make some changes from the system that was intended by Andrew in the original comic's run, but I wouldn't be surprised if he had, so for all we know some of those theories may retroactively fit the original comic even if they weren't initially intended! Or introduced as just a NEW thing that can happen! That's one sort of thing that I was originally so devoted to the comic's "original intent" that I wouldn't have accepted easily, but I'm coming to accept as a possibility a bit easier now, with how much Andrew has pushed Death of the Author and how much the ending of the comic showed that many of the things I judged were "important" in-comic weren't important to him at all.

However, if we're looking as far back as Act 5 Act 2, I believe there's a serious fundamental difference in scope and scale between trolls like Vriska and Terezi poorly cosplaying the trappings and aesthetics of ancestors whose classpects we didn't know at the time -- ancestors who were in fact constantly teased with words like Thief (Mindfang), Seer (Redglare), and Witch (Condesce) to match their younger descendants' classes even though Andrew likely intended for them to have had different classes all along -- and the severe, extreme, and powerful event that seems to be full-on hero role inversion.

Reading some Homestuck liveblogs lately, I was reminded of the strong and intentional connections that all of Homestuck has with Carl Jung's psychological theories and the concept of the "Shadow" self. And I'm not just talking about a superficial resemblance between the Shadow and role inversion, or the "assimilation of the shadow" and the uniting of one's Real Self and Dream Self to ascend to God Tier. No-- I mean that Jung's theories, even if somewhat discredited, are referenced by the complex stew of mythologies that make up Sburb and define how the game is played, just like all the pop and serious references to works like Lord Of The Rings that made it into the game's objectives. If you skim that wikipedia page you'll very quickly see what I mean:

Nevertheless, Jung remained of the opinion that while "no one should deny the danger of the descent [...] every descent is followed by an ascent",[54] and assimilation of—rather than possession by—the shadow becomes a possibility.

There's a good reason that Rose was given an interest in psychotherapy leading into the comic. It's tightly tied to the whole story's themes! Trying to show players the potential they have as individuals, the power inherent in their very personalities, and setting them a stage to confront themselves and grow into someone who would shape the future and accept their own self-worth, is the entire point of the game and the answer to the Ultimate Riddle. Every major character had to go through the arduous process of confronting their flaws and talents and trying to accept who they were. The game IS the psychotheraputic journey from start to finish, complete with the same monumental challenges, pitfalls, rejection and acceptance (of help and of oneself!) that all sorts of different people must confront in order to simultaneously fully appreciate and become themselves, and also become the people they truly want to be. Because despite what self-loathing and toxic gender norms and all sorts of naysayers would have us believe, those two things are closer to the same thing than most can easily imagine. The journey to discover, accept, unite with and leverage the power of being you.

And when you tie Jungian Psychology to MBTI personality types, you can practically flip the letters into an opposed Shadow too, in a less literal but startlingly similar way to the class-and-aspect-flip Inversion Theory that we proposed. (DAMMIT i still need to rewrite the Aradia post to be less pretentious, that's been on my to-do list for years but I've never been up to it...)

Again, I still need to read/watch optimisticDuelist's theories (I've had a hard time emotionally looking deep into anything Homestuck for a good while now, and even though you're referencing some pretty old theories i was NEVER very good at keeping up with others' theories besides what was specifically brought to my attention, it was a serious problem), but from what I recall in-comic every time I saw someone mimic or cosplay an ancestor they were mostly... just cosplaying! Nothing is stopping a Seer from picking up a sword and trying to do some knight stuff. TRYING. The only issue is that they won't be very good at it, because they're not actually learning about themselves and leveraging the strengths of their own personality and power set. I have no idea how to use a gun or weapons; if I were to pick one up and try to suddenly join a battle, I would have no idea what I'm doing and would be more likely to get myself or others hurt rather than do anyone any actual good. And even when someone like Terezi picked up a (cane-)sword in the comic, she still mostly used it as a Seer would, as the threat to punctuate or act on explicitly foreseen possibilities. When she ran Vriska through, she was acting on a VISION borne of the realities that hinged on others' decisions and fronts, that revealed themselves through her understanding the Mind aspect. It was no martial superpower, no mental trick-- all Terezi had was the superpower of understanding how badly Vriska's move to fight Jack would play out, with the necessary certainty she needed in order to confidently stab Vriska.

(Brief edit: as an aside, many classes of Heart player might be more positioned to take on and leverage the skills and uniqueness of others. Roleplaying others was one of NEPETA'S strengths.)

Rose's inversion was very, very, VERY different.

The word "witch" was EVERYWHERE around Rose, almost moreso than the Void symbolism. "Witch" was plastered all over Act 5 Act 2 in both the text and visual representations. Other players like Eridan CALLED her a witch REPEATEDLY. We saw a Witch of Time using dual needles and magic. Andrew couldn't have shouted the word any louder. It came with IMMENSE power, the sort of power level we've deduced (and Doc and Rose hinted) comes from someone's Hero Title because it's more powerful than any other mundane, magical, or psychic power source, fitting to the Ultimate Riddle-- when someone pulls out their Hero Powers against any non-hero power source besides sometimes the Green Sun, the one using Hero Powers always wins. It isn't even a contest.

When Rose went grimdark, she looked like a Witch. She didn't look like her mother. And she didn't act like her mother either! Especially when we got Roxy Lalonde in Act 6, it was clear that Rose's Grimdark actions and modus-operandi were absolutely nothing like those of her ecto-sister, even with all the commonalities they shared as people. Whatever inspiration Rose received from her mother's behavior and aesthetics, all it seems she took from it in her Grimdark descent was the Void, and little else.

If you were to try and convince me that what Rose did in Act 5 Act 2 was meant by the author to convey to us the actions of someone behaving as a Rogue of Void and not a Witch of Void, you wouldn't just need to show me evidence of Roguish activity. You'd need to show me ENOUGH evidence that Andrew meant to hide Rogue behavior beneath an intentional Witch whitewash (like that prior tease with the Troll Ancestors being coyly made to sound like they matched their descendants that I described earlier), and that all the Witch symbology and actions were actually a bullshit red herring!!! Few readers thought there was any serious impact of her Grimdark phase to her Class until we stumbled upon Inversion Theory as an extension of Aspect Duality, and a red herring is pretty pointless if it doesn't convince anyone.

Saying that NONE of those witch hints mattered? THAT'S A REALLY TALL ORDER. "Witch of Void" is just way, way too strongly evidenced in my eyes, and almost half of our derivative understanding of classes and aspects is based on Seer <--> Witch duality! It'll be weeks before I have my mental health together enough to watch optimisticDuelist's theories, but like, Seer <--> Witch is the most confident I still am in any theory besides the Ultimate Riddle and Aspect Duality. It'd take quite a lot to make me believe otherwise, so expecting optimisticDuelist's videos to change my mind on this matter would be... er. A little optimistic.

And because of how dependent so many of my theories were on what we learned about aspect duality FROM role inversion, if Seer <--> Witch didn't happen, then you might as well throw out almost everything I've ever said on classpects with the bathwater and start over. Rightly call me biased, but I do really hope I don't have to do that!

I have opinions about TotK. This is your spoiler warning if you haven't played/finished it yet. Also all of this is, once again, just my opinion on it and not a decisive fact! I will probably misremember things!

Anyway.

Okay so basically as someone who got it on release and beat it within a week, I'm a little underwhelmed by the game now that I'm looking back over half a year later.

It's not a terrible game! I'll say that first and foremost. But after waiting so long for it, and trying so hard to not hype myself up for it (failing horribly at that), it feels just a bit... same-y. The story is nice, and it's different. The boss fights and abilities you gain during your travels are nice. Everything else, though...

I like the map having stayed similar, with enough changes that I have to relearn some areas. The Depths are really fucking cool, and figuring out on my own that they're a negative of the overworld was incredible! But the sky islands were a little disappointing, I think. When we were told we'd be in the sky a lot, I thought there'd be more large islands like the tutorial one that you could walk around on. More references to Skyward Sword, too. It feels to me that they put more love into the Depths than the sky, in a way.

I like the main story. Figuring out Zelda was the Light Dragon (but not really believing it until the final Tears), and that she'd essentially spent thousands and thousands of years trapped inside herself, was AWESOME. Every cutscene involving her as the Light Dragon hit me hard, and I felt genuine sorrow everytime I saw her floating around the sky.

...That being said, I DO wish we could have a game where you get to actually travel with her. I WANT her to tell me about the minor lore of the world! I want to know about the various flora and fauna, and I want her to talk about Hyrule's history! Zelda is part of the royal family, and I'd imagine that part of her studies pre-BotW she'd have to learn about the history of her family (especially because of the importance of the Goddess' blood...). With how pre-BotW went between her and her powers, and her and her father, I'd imagine she'd make it a point to learn more about their history that ISN'T just the prophecy.

I, personally, did not like most of the temple boss fights. I can't really explain much of why- except for Queen Gibdo. I HATED Queen Gibdo because of all the smaller Gibdo chasing you, trying to chase down Riju for her power... It was a lot of things stacked on each other, and simply not my thing. Colgera was an absolute favorite however! The boss theme is AWESOME, the mechanics of being in the air and having to watch for projectiles, as well as crashing through the ice sheets to take it down? VERY, VERY FUN. Climbing through the sky just to get to the temple itself was one of my favorite experiences. Going up and up and up, and finally reaching the top where you break out above the storm clouds and see clear skies...

A thing that bothers me about the temples is that the cutscene at the end, where the ancient Sages gifts their powers to the new ones... I feel like they could've spent a little more time making them different, even if that meant more time in development. I would be okay with that! I think games should be in development longer in order to produce a good, finished product! Anyway.

The fight with Ganondorf was fun for me. I get SUPER immersed in it, so it was a fearful moment when I thought I'd beaten him, only to see his health bar fill again... and then go offscreen. And the DEMON DRAGON FIGHT? Holy SHIT.

I just wish there was more... substance to the game, I guess? It feels weird saying that. There are more things to do, but it's missing something I can't name. Something BotW had, but is now gone. I like TotK, like I said. It's clearly had love put into it, and I'm glad the developers spent more time on getting it as close to the perfect image they wanted as they could. Maybe it's just cause I've spent more time with BotW (over 300 hours), but I think I'm a little biased towards it. Maybe I'm just getting older and grumpier about vidya games, too. Who knows!

If you read all this, cool! I will reiterate that this is simply my view on it! If your view is different, good!! I'm happy to know there are people out there who enjoy it more than I did. Or if you hate it more than I do, maybe you have other things you want to point out about it that I missed.

I'm surprised that as the number one rk fan I haven't posted a small analysis of him yet but here we go

So what we know from RK so far is barely anything at all but it's clear he wants to escape with people together rather than alone.

of course if that wasn't clarified I would most likely interpret it as him using the nomes to get further without giving 2 shits about them, but because it's canon, thats not rhe case. that doesn't mean he doesn't defend himself though. He will kill/harm others in order to defend himself (n this is why a lot of the times where I see comics of him getting bullied i get pissed because thats NOT him.) he does seem to defend himself several times throughout the game and will harm others in order to protect himself. What's unique about him is that not only do we get a view of what's happening all the way down at the maw, but his story compared to the other stories has a much more different vibe to it. With mono and six it was very hectic. RK seems to be the only kid that doesn't outright have a chasing scene the same way Six or Mono does (The guests, The doctor, the teacher, that kind of chasing scene.) The only thing we really have is the little battles of him defending himself. he gets chased by the lady for the last bit, and I think that part truly shows WHY he didn't have any chase scenes. I'm sure he was panicking when the lady was chasing him, and when you're panicking, it's very common for people to get impatient. So when he gets caught by the lady, he desperately tries to get away, having the lady basically haunt him from each corner. he goes into a room at some point with a broken mirror and you know if he stood hidden in there or was patient enough to just wait a few seconds or avoid going to the door that opened for him, he would've most likely lived. but being the kid he is, out of curiosity, he goes to where the lady opened the door from. He seems to be a curious little guy. I also wanna mention that he is really smart and it's overseen by the Fandom a lot. We know that Six is smart that's canon, but let's not forget that RK literally solved THE LADYS PUZZLES. I'm sure the lady wanted her puzzles hard enough for not anyone else to figure out, prior to the figures being placed in odd places to take and put on a statue, and extreme puzzles that were even hard for me, he figured it out. it's amazing. And he's invaded the lady's space so much that not only did he finish all her puzzles but ALSO find out her secret. So RK is pretty curious, gets impatient when panicking, and smart on top of that.

Could be a stretch, but truly, in this fandom everything gets stretched so why not 🤷‍♂️

One thing about his story that makes me think a lot are the shadow kids. Although you can usually hear giggles and whispers in the game, if you listen close enough, they will say actual things! (What upsets me though is someone figured this out way before I did and while I went on YouTube to find voice clips I saw the video of the girl that posted this 😭 its only fair if I credit her she's called SPILLTHETHEORIES, watch her video its informative!)

A Fada Oriana (The Fairy Oriana) by Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen.

It's about a fairy named Oriana that has to take care of a forest but one day, while looking at the river, meets a fish who talks her into neglecting the forest, which causes a lot of trouble. Then, Oriana, has to learn how to repair the damage she made.

It's a book about responsibility, consequeses, the importance of individual action and learning from one's mistakes.

Património Cultural: Realidade Viva (Cultural Patrimony: Live Reality) by Guilherme d'Oliveira Martins.

It's a book about the preservation of patrimony in Portugal under the context of belonging in the European Union in the 21st century.

It's not a very interesting book nor scientific, just a summary of Portuguese and European laws for people who don't wanna read the laws (?). I wouldn't read it on my own but it's a mandatory read for one of my classes in my Master's so I gotta ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

I didn't know if I was going to but since GMM seems to be finally trying out more for the GLs, I feel like I need to show my support in this direction so I made the moral choice of watching as it airs to make it clear to them the audience for this is here and we want more of it!

So far ep.1 was super cliché and silly but I liked it a lot!! I want all the clichés for the girls too! Tired of seeing queer women suffer and die on screen...

It had been sitting on my watchlist for a while but I never gotten around to it for some reason... Nevertheless, my latest Wheel Decide™ for what to watch next landed on it, so... I'm watching it now!

2 episodes in only but I'm loving it a lot!! The plot's super interesting so far, really like the way they're going about it. Let's see where it goes!!

Currently Consuming

I'm gonna opt to mention the game I'm currently playing (besides Bloons TD 6, but I'm always playing Bloons, so... not news), which is Heaven's Vault by Inkle!

It's an extremely niche game, focused on figuring out an ancient language and, with it, the history of the world it's set in. It envolves robots, space travelling, discussions on xenophobia and religious intolerence and a lot more. I haven't finished yet but I'm loving the experience so far!

I understand it's not for everyone but I'm loving it!! <3 (not a Mickey D's reference, fuck Mickey D's)

Also. I kinda wanna know what you think Kirby's dynamic with Meta Knight is.

Personally, I'm of the Camp that while Meta Knight isn't really Kirby's father figure, Meta Knight is Kirby's for lack of a better word, anime sensei. Their relationship is mostly Meta Knight teaching Kirby things that Kirby didn't learn in their travels. Their relationship is mostly friends outside of this though. They don't REALLY see each other as family, because... Their species doesn't DO family. However, as time passes on planet Popstar, as Kirby considers different types of relationship they didn't think of before,,they do at least start seeing Meta Knight as an older brother figure, even if Meta Knight doesn't see Kirby as a little brother (quite yet).

Gah, I asked people to send me dynamics in November and then failed to answer any of them in good time... ; _ ;

Ahem! Let's answer them now!

"Anime sensei!" Yes! That's probably pretty close to how I see them too!

Dess confession - I haven't finished the Star Allies novel where Kirby supposedly has that huge crisis seeing how similar Void looks to him. (Although there are definitely issues with taking those novels at face value, sometimes there is the suggestion that they may be written with an eye/ear to lore that the games can't express.) All this is to say, I don't think of Kirby as being one to hung up on encountering someone who looks like him for that to be the crux of their relationship. ("I finally found another of my species" thing.)

Maybe in their first (?) encounter in Kirby's Adventure. But I can easily see Kirby combining the information of "looks like me" and "gave me candy" with "friend!" Such that from Kirby's point of view, Meta Knight instantly became someone who was, like, ma~ybe at risk of causing problems, like that troublesome King Dedede (Meta DID attack Kirby after all) but otherwise wasn't someone Kirby had t go out of his way to stop. Then comes Meta Knight's Revenge and, okay, I WILL go back to the novels for this to pull in Kirby's explanation to Magolor that, yeah they're friends. If Magolor did something bad, Kirby would beat him but otherwise!

And I think that's what was going on in RoMK. Kirby saw that Meta Knight was causing trouble in his newly adopted home of Dream Land and said "Nope. We're not doing this." (He does seem to be kinda on the warpath in that mode XD )

But Meta Knight's ambition is sunk and Kirby drives off (Perhaps he stayed to make sure everyone got away safely?) and the next day, things are back to normal. For Kirby, at least.

I do think that was definitely the moment Meta Knight's view of Kirby changed. That in Adventure, he was very wary/worried about Kirby. If Meta IS of the same species and has some... let's say knowledge of their or maybe just Kirby's potential, he very well could have been guiding/testing him. "Can he stop Nightmare?" Maybe he even...underestimated him in their first duel? Not completely - not that he would have gone easy on him, not with Dream Land at stake - but say he was surprised by what the puff pulled out!

He doesn't make that mistake in Revenge and I think he's EXCITED to face Kirby at something closer to his full power! And Kirby matches and exceeds his expectations! Meta Knight is still not ready to see Kirby as an equal until after the events of the Amazing Mirror, where after besting MK twice in the past, Kirby now rescues Meta Knight from something MK thought he had to handle on his own.

From that point on, I think the "sensei" begins to realize there's things HE can learn from Kirby! Perhaps he'd been too confident? Too content in being the strongest force on Popstar. But now that he's willing to see Kirby as an equal and learn from him, we see him join the adventuring party and even perform the victory dance with the others! (Despite the fact that it can't look THAT cool to do.)

Past that point, I imagine Meta sees Kirby as a reason to continue to grow and challenge himself. But not just with training. Because Kirby teaches that life doesn't all have to be about getting stronger through trials. You need naps and food and fun time as well. And I think Kirby's softer side is slowly rubbing off on Meta Knight as well. (Maybe that's why he stayed to protect Waddle Dee Town?)

Back to Kirby's side of things, I think Kirby trusts Meta Knight a lot. He doesn't come running to him whenever there's a problem or seek him out for advice all that often, but I think if Meta makes his presence known TO Kirby, that's a sort of signal MK has something worth listening to and Kirby will listen.

I imagine that just like Kirby has begun to rub off on Meta, Meta has begun to rub off on Kirby a little too. I imagine early on, Kirby saw those fights with Meta Knight as an annoyance or a hassle or as MK "getting in the way." But in the modern games, I think Kirby kinda looks forward to them? FL is the first game with a "canon" arena and in order to get the True Ending, Kirby has to go there to fight. A lot! So I think it's not a stretch that Kirby is enjoying testing his growth and control over his powers against Meta Knight's experience!

In summary, I think Meta Knight "thinks" about Kirby more than Kirby thinks of Meta Knight. But their bond has grown closer over time: from wary overseer to interested challenger to sometimes ally to something more like...a friend? Albeit, an ever-mysterious one!

Aha hello!! I didn't think that RMA post would actually catch any eyes but I'm it did!!

First off, thank you so much! It's the best feeling ever knowing my art can make people happy just like that :]]

As for your question, I recently just rewatched a good chunk of S2 Part 2 but some of the details around the later bits are still fuzzy (rewatching em is quite hard for me as the english dubs aren't exactly that easy to find out there unfortunately)

I will say though, rewatching it really opened my eyes to just how much of a downgrade Part2 is compared to S1 and even just S2 Part1 itself, not just in story but in like the voice acting and animation. The voice direction is a bit off, characters sound flat, and the animation just feels... weirder, if that makes sense. It's not the worst thing in the world though, it's just an unfortunate thing I happen to notice. They also changed some of the VAs I think (liek Rema's) which was a strange decision but alright ig... There's also the reusing of so many games instead of new ones but oh well... Despite all my problems with it though, I like the inclusion of the new characters (Manus and all the other Leos Valiants). The Leos are all such silly guys :]] I do wish the DV7s got more screentime and played a bigger role though, the first episode for part2 really fooled me into thinking they would lmaoo

S2 Part1 still holds up, certainly not as good as S1 but still, it's got charm! I love the setting actually, Old City is such a bright and colorful place with like all these abstract and messed up winding pathways, it's so weird and funkyy, I dig it a lot!

So pretty!! God... just like how funky the cities look with all of them being like giant floating islands, it will always be cool af to me

Ik most of my followers don't care about runningman much but in the off chance some non-rma fan sees this, look at Tree City (pic below), I love it so much

Although... sometimes it really does feel like Season 2 is where the studio decided to lean more into it being a children's show. It's a lot less "dark" compared to S1 which is a tad disappointing. Like just compare Akong's battle (where the dude literally uses a bunch of the old guys to power up his thingy 😭) compared to CG's big mech fight. Still, I liked it! I like the neat guardians (the lil pullulu spirits who guard the gate, Vivace and Ensemble twins my beloved <3).

ALSO ALSO THE IRON BEAST, I can always appreciate a big robot guy aha

That's all I really got for the ramble aha, I'd say more stuff about S2 and maybe my views on it will change overtime but as of now, I haven't even really gotten around to properly finishing it yet. I remember watching it waaayyy back but it was all in korean with zero subtitles 😭 luckily, I am in a server with people sharing english versions so I'll probably watch those when I get more free time!

I really just miss talking about this show really and I feel like I've largely outgrown the fandom in old spaces where I used to talk in (like Facebook groups and Amino lmfaoo), so it's absolutely awesome to find RMA fans over here on tumblr!

Déjà Vu

Word Count: 511 Prompt: A New World Featured Characters: Professor A/N: Though I still haven't finished the game (because 2023 was a rough year, man), I still intended to celebrate Survive Week! This year, because of the prompts, I'm trying my best to tackle the POVs of the characters I maybe don't know as much about. Creative license, imagination, etc. are at play here. Annnnyway, today I decided to tackle the Professor, in as non-spoilery a way as I could. While I know things about him that my save file does not, I wanted to try and see what he was thinking when he first woke up in the "Digital" World. To my immense relief, I watched a video of Part 2 gameplay and discovered I was at least half right. Bonus! (Please forgive all the actual inaccuracies.) @surviveweek

If this was a dream, it sure was a strange one.

Professor gazed around at what appeared to be the same exact woods he and those children had been in. The key difference: red spider lilies. Which was strange… they didn't sprout up overnight. Unless he'd been out for much longer than a night.

Placing a hand on his forehead, he tried to collect his thoughts. He wasn't sure how long he'd been here, and he wasn't sure where the children were. Professor lifted his head and glanced around. Surely they would be around here somewhere? Unless they had already fled to look for each other. He could only hope none of them were alone.

Something was tickling the back of his mind. There was a strange feeling in his chest, too. (For a split second, there was a fear that he was injured or worse.) The trees and flowers around him were invoking a sense of déjà vu. But that made no sense; of course he'd been here before, he was just here. Yet the feeling was not going away.

He slowly climbed to his feet, taking a few steps to make sure he wasn't suffering some sort of injury. Good. That settled, he began looking for the children. He had to make sure they were okay. Despite his sense that they (that is, he and them) hadn't gone far from the shrine, he was filled with a strange foreboding. Almost as if this place was suddenly far more dangerous than it had been moments before.

It was hard to look for children whose names he wasn't sure of, nor could he quite remember at this moment. So he remained silent as he traversed the woods, searching for a sign, any sign, that could help lead him to the children. The surroundings really were similar to the woods he had been in just moments ago. However, it was much darker here. Much, much darker.

The déjà vu increased with every step he took, but Professor couldn't even begin to explain why that was. His eyes swept through the woods and along the ground. There was were strange echoes in these woods, made more eerie by a subtle hint of fog. Every moment he spent alone increased his sense of unease. Though he didn't have the energy to run, he had to hurry up.

Finally, he spotted some footprints. He wasn't a tracker by any means, but he could at least tell they belonged to human feet. As he peered in the direction they led, he heard a high-pitched scream, followed by a lower-pitched shout. The children!

Mustering what strength he had, he started jogging in the direction of the voices. Eerily familiar surroundings or not, he had to find the children. He felt a sense of responsibility, after all. He had to help them find their way back to their school group.

If I don't help them, no one else will. And he didn't even try to question how he knew this. Perhaps the answer would reveal itself in time.

OC Songs (well, not really, but close enough)

@furbyq tagged me (thank you!) and since I don't really have OCs other than my sims that aren't based on characters, she suggested I do it for my Deception IV character playlists! I'll be doing ship songs as well.

Much of my vision of the game's characters are my own, as the plots (there are two, Laegrinna's and Velguirie's stories) are secondary and considered forgettable, which is a shame because I found them as enjoyable as the gameplay. The way I've developed their personalities probably makes no sense to the few other fans and would be considered wildly out-of-character, but tbh I don't give a shit because it brings me joy, and with no fandom, there's no drama. (Hopefully).

Characters:

Ice Queen by Within Temptation: this has always been my favorite song by them but I came to associate it with Laegrinna. She is ruthless and cold for the most part canonically, however I think there's more to her than that and I'll get to that later.

Queen of the Night by Whitney Houston: This is, without a doubt, Velguirie's theme song. "I've got more than enough to make you drop to your knees," "They say I'm trouble and I don't give a damn," the lyrics pretty much speak for themselves. They don't call her the Nightmare Princess for nothing.

Shine On Me by Chris Dane Owens: This sounds like a hero's theme song and Zeno Shin is a self-proclaimed hero and big dumb idiot. Also, if you know me you're likely aware Laegrinna/Zeno is my OTP and it evokes the way I imagine him being awestruck by her. She is the Dark Side Princess but she is his light.

Who's That Girl by Madonna - Okay, so hear me out. Whereas Velguirie is entirely fire and I love her for that, Laegrinna is ice AND fire. You don't see that often because while she uses it to her advantage, she won't admit it. Kind of related to the last song it's about falling under the inescapable spell of a captivating woman. Which again is how I envision her effect on Zeno but may or may not also be something more personal.

Ships:

Latch by Disclosure ft Sam Smith: This has been one of my favorite songs since it came out well before I played Deception IV, but now in my mind it's about how Laegrinna and Zeno are drawn to each other and the metaphors are right on for a game where the main goal is using traps on enemies. (Zeno is a major enemy, by the way. You defeat him, which means yes, Laegrinna canonically kills him. But that's what AUs are for, and I'm a sucker for enemies-to-lovers).

Sleeping Dogs by Merril Bainbridge: A song I've known since high school, holy shit that was 25+ years ago now?? 💀 Another one full of metaphors - Laegrinna and Zeno drive each other crazy, but they DRIVE EACH OTHER CRAZY. Somehow, even though I always thought I hated the tsundere trope, it suits Laegrinna in my head. She doesn't want to be attracted to him but she can't resist him.

Shadows of the Night by Pat Benatar: Although I don't think they meet in canon because Evelyn is from Laegrinna's story and I didn't get very far in quest mode (I watched my husband finish it but that was forever ago) I think Velguirie and Evelyn are perfect for each other. "Surrender all your dreams to me tonight" is the line that hit me, like I said Velguirie is the Nightmare Princess, and I'm not going into detail but let's just say Evelyn is quite keen on surrendering 😂 I haven't thought of any other songs for them yet but I hope to, they're a really fun pairing and I love them.
