Yuuri's VA new song for Yuuri was released! I bought it online, so I still don't know the official lyrics 🤣 and I'm not very good at recognizing sounds that are heavily modulated?... like what he does at the end of words, so it still contains some mistakes, I'm sure.

But the song.... The LYRICS... It really made me cry... 😭😭

I get it that Omocat wanted to focus on the feelz over everything else. But games like Yume Nikki(a game that Omori was clearly trying to ape) don't have a big overarching narrative, and is a very simple freeware game that leaves much room for interpretation. Also helps that it's ost was made to be atmospheric, even if you hear a song for only a couple seconds. I can listen to an extended version of this track while working on something, despite it being a 22 second loop.

And in terms of games where you beat the final boss by unconventional means, the Earthbound/Mother series(another game/s Omocat was obviously trying to emulate) does so in a way that ties in perfectly with the story and characters in all three games, making the emotional pay-off from them earned.

Omori really wanted to be those games, but missed the mark on why they eventually became cult classics, while a game like Undertale was able to perfectly capture the spirit of them.

I could compare OMORI to Silent Hill 2, which I don't know much in detail (@woodchipp is the one who made this comparison - I keep tagging him because he's the expert here :P) but I know that its big twist is that the protagonist actually killed his wife because she fell sick. Apparently many fans picked for James the ending where he kills himself because they did not have any sympathy for him. I know that the game itself did not paint him as a poow bapyboy, just presented you with the events and his understandable guilt.

I could compare it to Hereditary, which also has a brother accidentally causing his sister's death and (before steering into the paranormal side of the plot) was about how that death wrecked the entire family and destroyed the relationship between son and mother who could only blame everyone around her.

I could compare it to Bojack Horseman, which explores the themes of forgiveness with cruel nuance - we viewers relate to Bojack and want him to finally find happiness because we get familiar with his circumstances, but when he fucks up, the people around him are allowed to cut contact with him, which makes eventual forgiveness (like from Todd) be even more precious. Incidentally, Xerox of a Xerox is all about Hollywoo discovering Bojack's role in Sarah Lynn's death (pushing her to go on a bender that led to her overdose and deliberately waiting to call an ambulance to create an alibi)... and he more than pays the consequences.

I could compare it to Steven Universe, and how it shows just how many people Rose hurt with her deception, even if well intentioned - Garnet falls apart, Amethyst tries to protect Steven from feeling responsible, Pearl moves on from her after their final bind has been cut.

I could compare it to Evangelion, which, as @spinningbuster98 said, also has a depressed teen as its protagonist, but he's pitiable because the story actually fleshes him out and doesn't shy away from the worst sympthoms of his depression, self-loathing and deep desire to be loved.

And if you mention unconventional final bosses, then there's also Undertale and its three final bosses: Asgore removing the choice of MERCY because he really wants to be killed, the fight against Asriel where Frisk is so full of Determination to SAVE him that they straight up cannot die, and Sans cheating all over the place because you player are also a cruel cheater. Also hugging Asriel and him crying that he doesn't want to let go >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> a shallow slideshow of Sunny and Mari being oh so happy together.

This story has been done multiple times, and infinitely better, giving all the respect necessary to every character involved, not just the cute protagonist. OMORI has nothing to offer if not a decent aesthetic.

For those who stumble upon my account... Hello and how are ya? This is my very first time using Tumblr! You can refer to me as Banana Cat, Yume, Dreamy, Floof or JJ. I'm a genuinely curious individual who sometimes gets obsessed with stuff that I eventually want to get engaged with or stuff that I have no intention of trying out, but I'm very fascinated by it. I'm also just a silly, creative Canadian who's trying to get the most out of life.

Kansatoki and Yume have some girl talk.

Kansatoki slid her door open slightly, keeping quiet to eavesdrop on the scene happening across from her dorm.

"I'm telling you Todoroki the spider is SO big! I can't kill it though, it's just not right to kill an innocent bug so you have to freeze it for me and take it out!" Yume pleaded to Shoto who was trailing behind her as she led the way to her dorm.

"Ok, show me where it is," Shoto obliged, following Yume to her room.

Once inside Yume turned around and smiled at Shoto. Shoto scanned the room looking a bit confused at Yume's sudden change in demeanor as she seemed to not be concerned about a spider anymore.

"I uh, I don't see it," He said to her looking dumbfounded.

"Oh! Uh right, the spider- guess it ran away..." She said, shrugging her shoulders.

"Ok well, goodbye then," Shoto said and began to leave the room.

"Wait!" Yume exclaimed, grabbing his arm. "Why don't you stay here and hang out in case it comes back!" She suggested.

"That would be against school rules. I shouldn't be here," He replied plainly.

"Yeah but- I mean..." She trailed off desperately trying to find another excuse to get Shoto to stay.

"Just let me know if you see it again Hoshino," He said and made his way back to the elevator to go back to the common room.

Yume let out a big disappointed sigh as he left.

Once Shoto was in the elevator and no longer in earshot Kansatoki let go of the laughter she was suppressing, her dorm door flew open and she boomed with laughter.

"Oh stop!" Yume yelled at her.

"A SPIDER!? For fucks sake Yume! That was low even for you!" Kansatoki said, practically rolling on the floor with laughter.

Yume walked over and threw herself on Kansatoki's bed.

"UGH!" She screamed in frustration. "I don't know what to do Kansa!" Yume complained.

Kansatoki shut her dorm door and joined her friend sitting on the bed.

"How did you do with Bakugo?" Yume asked, looking at her friend.

"HU?!" Kansatoki exclaimed, her cheeks slightly blushing.

"Oh, don't play dumb. Me and Ashido have both heard him in your room pretty late. I don't care how quiet he tries to whisper that husky voice travels through walls you know," Yume replied, causing her friend to cross her arms.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Kansatoki replied defiantly.

"Oh come on, it's me," Yume said, shoving her friend's shoulder. "You can tell me."

"Yeah I know," Kansatoki said, softening up a bit.

"Just tell me your secrets, what should I do?" Yume pleaded with her friend for advice. By now she had tried several failed attempts at getting Shoto to hang out with her in her room, and even more failed attempts at trying to hang out in his.

"Just tell him your actual intentions. That you want to be alone with him," Kansatoki laughed and gave her friend a wink.

Yume covered her face feeling it flush, "Kansa I don't know," the thought of marching up to Shoto and being so blunt made her stomach flutter. "Is that what you did with Bakugo?" She asked, removing her hands from her face.

"What?! No!" Kansatoki said, her face flushing again.

"Then how do you expect me to!" Yume exclaimed.

"Look, obviously Todoroki is very different from Bakugo. He isn't going to pick up on hints. You're going to have to slap him with the honest truth for him to understand what is really going on." Kansatoki explained to her friend.

"UGH-!" Yume grumbled again in frustration.

"Hey don't blame me. I told you pretty boys were boring the moment you told me you liked him," Kansatoki replied to her friend's frustration.

"Right because the dumpster fire of a boy you like is soooo much better,"

"At least there is never a dull moment with him," Kansatoki said, sticking her tongue out at her friend. "I'm just saying you better confess your feelings fast, you chose to like the most popular boy in our class with the ladies. I've noticed other girls looking at him, you know." Kansatoki poked her friend playfully.

"Hmpf- must be nice for you not to have anyone look twice at Bakugo. In the words of Present Mic he has a face 'only a mother could love'," Yume laughed teasing her friend back.

"Hey cut it out, he's not so bad... besides no one knows him like I do," Kansatoki said, swinging her legs back and forth off the bed.

"I'm just messing with you," Yume said, smiling at her friend. "So, what other advice do you have for me then?" Yume asked.

"Hmm," Kansatoki placed a finger under her chin thinking. "Maybe make him jealous? Stop trying so hard with him and flirt with some other boys for a change," she said, shrugging her shoulders.

"Wouldn't that go over his head too?" Yume asked.

"Yeah probably," Kasnatoki said laughing.

"I know! Can't you get one of the other boys in on it?!" Yume asked, her eyes lighting up. "That way it's really obvious! He'll have no choice but to get nervous about it!"

"Yeah I mean, I'm sure I could get Kaminari to do it. That desperate boy would probably do anything a girl asked him. Plus he'd probably like the attention," Kanasatoki laughed.

"Thank you, Kansa! You're the best!" Yume exclaimed excitedly.

"Yeah yeah, no need to thank me," Kansatoki said waving her hand, as her phone lit up on the bed. Kansatoki grabbed her phone and checked her messages. "I'll tell Kaminari about our master plan tomorrow, I got some stuff to do tonight," Kansatoki said, standing up off her bed and walking to the door.

"Wait what-?" Yume said, sitting up on the bed. "Wait no way- Don't tell me! Was that Bakugo that just texted you!? Is that where you're going?"

Kansatoki just shrugged her shoulders playfully at her friend, "Ok byeee-," she said walking out of the room. Leaving Yume alone in the dorm.

1. Fav characters besides Lum and Ataru ?? Aaaaa I would have to go with the big three:

RAN: she’s so fockin funny and her personality switch up is my fav and not to mention her character design is BEAUTIFUL like I feel like if you saw a pic of Ran without knowing any of the characters you would think she’s the main protagonist

SHINOBU: it’s crazy how Shinobu was originally the main character alongside Ataru before Lum was (I know she was robbed from the spotlight and her man but STILL) and I love how insane hers and Lum’s rivalry was like holy shit I felt so bad for Shinobu. But as the series progressed I’m glad the two became friends and the awkward tension between the three characters died down (Shinobu, Lum, and Ataru). I also luv how much of a sweet heart and has such a gentle voice, but could flip a bus if she needed to AND be beating TF out of men 10x her size.

2. Okay funniest moments aaaaaa I would say there’s too many to count but I think one would be the time where Lum was training to fight this bully without her powers to prove to a underclassmen like “you can do anything if you put your mind to it.” And Lum arm wrestles Ataru and just completely fails and when Mendo gets a turn she just SHOCKS THE SHIT OUTTA HIM

Another would be the time with the gossiping flowers, and everyone thinks Mendo wet the bed when he was younger when it was actually Lum and she just LEAVES HIM OUT TO DRY AND TAKE THE BLAME. Wait now that I realize it these are just when Mendo gets hurt by Lum, I PROMISE I DONT DISLIKE MENDO AT ALL IT’S JUST FUNNY

3. Moments I’m most excited for the show, look I know Urusei Yatsura isn’t only about Atalum and I like the episodes we’re getting but CMONNN. WE’RE GETTING SO MUCH ATALUM CENTERED EPISODES AND IM SO SO SO EXCITED IM EATING PLYWOOD. Particularly very happy to see the Inaba arc (finally Shinobu gets a good man even though it’s kinda rushed) and the Boy Meets Girl ending AAAAAAAAA IDC IF ITS THE SAME SCENES WE’VE SEEN TWICE ALREADY IM ENJOYING EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

But Tysm Yume for the ask !! I could go on for hours talking about this series bc I’m literally in UY BRAINROT but I hope you have a GUD dayyy 💗💗💗

what do you think about the recent vkm chapter

What can I say, I think I finally get it. The problem is not whether she moved on with her life and was happy, it's the most natural thing in the world, what really bothers me and is not natural at all is that everyone, EVERYONE in the fucking world of VK has been able to continue with their life except for Kaname. Ruka, Aidou even Ai with her stupid crush on zero, but Kaname just can't. why? I understand that within the story there is no place for him to find someone else (although being a human without memories I don't see why not), but leaving that aside the fair thing for him is to find happiness in some way… but nooooo… always always tied to the memories of a woman who, although it is true that she loved him, for me did not love him enough, or maybe, just maybe, she did love him enough, but he simply loved her too much.

At the end of 143 chapters, this is it? Kaname is the guy who loved too much and there is no place in the human or vampire world for someone like that?

I remember a friend of me saying that Kaname should never have been human, because at the end of the day it's about being happy being who he is, and he is a vampire, but he was always alone and to be honest Yuki never fulfilled his physical or spiritual loneliness, Yuki was never enough, he knew that but he still loved her.

So here is my anger, if not even the person you love the most is enough to fill your existential void of the years, why then not love yourself enough and take one step at a time? In the end we know that Kaname blamed himself for every damn thing what happened, and Yuki never lived up to it, not because she was a bad person, maybe simply because she couldn't, because she never understood him, not even when she saw his sad and lonely past.

So at the end of the day I think that everything that Hino has sold us about two beings predestined to love each other, but who tragically could never be together more than in moments has been a total lie. Kaname was able to put up with all the shit that has come and gone in the more than 11 centuries of his existence, but he is not able to get over a woman like Yuki? Just thinking about it makes me want to cry.

As I already got it, I think I can say almost with complete certainty that our yume reunion is nothing more than that….A Yume.

A Complete Comparison Between the Honeyworks MVs/Novels vs the Anime Adaptation

Okay. Rant here.

I am tagging this explicitly as Heroine Tarumono/Heroines Run the Show hate. Because I do hate it. I will admit they got a few things right, but the ratio from things wrong to right is more like...20:1.

Here we go.

So, Yamako is the creator and designer for LIPxLIP, their costumes, their kiss marks and their placements, and etc. Shito and Gom are the main musicians who created the LIPxLIP discography.

Kousaka Mari is the writer for the LIPxLIP and the Hiyori novels, she’s the one who expands on the MVs that Yamako, Shito and Gom (YSG trio) created.

Okay? Okay. Now that we got that settled...

LIPxLIP’s story- they met at an audition. They did not get along well at all, and even fought during said audition. When they’re told that they’re going to team up, they protest this and begrudgingly agree because the agreement after that decision was made was “become a unit, or don’t debut at all”, and both of their dream is to become idols. Or, more specifically, Aizou’s was to sing (in order to make people smile, like how he used to make his family smile), and Yujiro’s was to stand on the stage (because he abandoned his childhood to stand on the kabuki stage with his stepfather, but was disinherited. It’s even revealed in the LOVE&KISS novel that he was never meant to stand on stage anyway)

After working together for so long, of course, Aizou and Yujiro grow to genuinely care about each other, and they often try to help each other while the other is down- hence the dedication to each other in Yume Fanfare.

Enter Hiyori. She’s from Izumo City, and got a part-time job so that she can live as her family temporarily struggled with money. She finds an ad to become a manager and finds out that she is now the manager for her (rude) classmates and the idol duo of LIPxLIP.

Of course, both LIPxLIP didn’t want Hiyori to be their manager. Both ganged up on her until she got so fed up with being put down by them that she was determined to do her job solely so she can prove to them that they’re wrong about her.

This is where the amazing dynamic starts.

She does do good with her job- even though she is not without her flaws. In the Nonfantasy novel, she retrieves the rosettes that were left behind by the staff and runs back to where Aizou and Yujiro were and makes it just in time. After that, she decides to take a rest since she was so exhausted, but ended up sleeping throughout the entire event. No ankle injury. Aizou and Yujiro wake her up and begrudgingly admit that she did a good job.

She is also bullied by Yumeru, and yes, Yumeru makes her fall into a lake to retrieve her gloves. However! Hiyori tripped on her own accord. This puts the blame not solely on Yumeru, but onto Hiyori as well.

This is extremely important, as this truly puts LIPxLIP’s faith in Hiyori as their manager and growing-friend to the test. Of course, guilty, Hiyori hides. After the filming is over, LIPxLIP goes and find her, and while she’s moping, they tell her, essentially, “okay, yeah? You fucked up lol. But everyone makes mistakes, you can’t drag yourself down over that. Just work harder and be more careful next time.”

That’s it. No yelling, no “oh we knew that you wouldn’t be a good manager”. Because at this point, they can see how hard she’s working. This is a real bond of friendship of mutual trust and respect that is growing.

By the end of the novel, her contract time is up, and LIPxLIP ask Manager Uchida if Hiyori can continue, because they’ve grown to care for her as their friend, and they genuinely respect the work she’s put in, not knowing that Uchida already was ready to extend her contract. And not to mention, Hiyori didn’t want to quit from the get-go. She was sad about leaving, but figured that she wouldn’t be allowed to stay. Upon hearing LIPxLIP want her to stay, she’s happy and agrees to stay.

The Nonfantasy novel pretty much covers the first five episodes of the anime.

BUT.

What did the anime do???

It took the entire novel, ripped it up, and wrote a shitty retelling of it.

In the anime, Hiyori needing a job remains the same. LIPxLIP hate her and disagree about her becoming the manager. That stays the same. In fact, the first two episodes are actually pretty good.

However, issues arise in episode 3. Hiyori finds out that she’s going to fail her exams, and works to study. LIPxLIP find her, and they ask her why she runs. She explains her dream to run and...suddenly their entire opinion on her shifts..? Um. Okay. Sure. Whatever.

Then they help her with her studies which is a genuinely cute scene, I will admit.

Then the filming of Nonfantasy comes. They keep Yumeru as a jealous bitch but tones down her bullying....UNTIL...

She sees LIPxLIP sharing their sweets with Hiyori (??? why??? At this point they still don’t recognize Hiyori’s efforts. They haven’t even really discussed her as their manager at this point!) and act all friendly with her. Then Yumeru trips Hiyori, and Hiyori hides.

LIPxLIP find her later and say “you messing up is nothing new” then Yumeru comes along, and....they threaten her? “I saw you trip her. Let’s check the cameras” and then Yumeru runs away in tears and Hiyori is like “omg...princes...”

What? What????? Literally what?????????????

This was a complete turnaround?!?! And it’s only episode 3?!?!?! WHERE did the trust and friendliness come from??? Don’t tell me that they’re buddy-buddies with Hiyori because she told them their dream???? UM??? lmao sorry that’s not how that works???

Where is the relationship development??? Oh right. Flushed down the goddamn toilet to make viewers believe that they’re falling in love, even though this is not a relationship development. I don’t know what the hell that is.

In the next episode, it gives the viewers the very tip of the iceberg of Aizou and Yujiro’s past, but they make it so...minuscule that it’s pathetic. Like, okay, I get that it’s Hiyori’s anime, but if you’re not going to elaborate on their trauma, then don’t fucking include it at all, unless you want to give the viewers the wrong impression.

In the novels, Hiyori knows absolutely nothing about their past. Why would she? As abuse victims, they’re not going to just tell her that their lives sucked before they became idols. And she made absolutely NO assumptions about them, and when one was upset, she stayed out of it because she knew it was not in her element.

In the anime, she still barely knows anything, but she opens her big mouth??? Says Yujiro’s family does love him because his mom made him bentos and compares her dislike of squid (the squiiiishy texture) to Aizou’s trauma with women. If her goal was to make him laugh, then that would be passable, but she flat out said she understood what he meant!

NO. That is NOT . how. that. works!

If you don’t know anything about someone but maybe very brim surface levels, you shut up and either wait for that person to tell you more, or just stay out of it!

And finally, episode 5...um. What happened here? Hiyori, who sprained her ankle in the anime, fails to get into nationals. This was never in the novels. In fact, her being in track was brought up a few times by Aizou and Yujiro, wondering if she would participate in those things or focus on her job.

So, in the anime, they sing their song, the song that YAMAKO HERSELF SAID IT FOR THEM, to Hiyori. And this is the ONLY TIME in the anime that we hear them and see their performance. This leads anime-onlys to believe that the song is for Hiyori. But it isn’t.

If you watch the MV (linked above), she does not show up at all in the MV. In fact, if you watch Hiyori’s 2nd MV, Heroine Tarumono, you will see that Hiyori is behind the stage during Yume Fanfare, and Chizuru is crying in the audience. The Chizuru crying frame is from the Yume Fanfare MV, showing that Hiyori was there, watching them and Chizuru, while they dedicated the song to each other.

Hanipre even takes it a step further. Chizuru’s card is the same frame from Yume Fanfare, and it roughly translates as: “Their bond is...so precious..!”

Also, in the anime, it’s HIYORI who asks if she can continue her job as their manager because she liked the concert, and LIPxLIP were like “Ok sure ig” um...where’s the buildup of friendship? Oh yeah- there is none!!!!

The whole reason why YSG Trio’s story with LIPxLIP and Hiyori works in Nonfan (ala eps 1 - 5) is because there is real, genuine buildup in their friendship. Hiyori had to work hard to earn their respect, whereas it is simply given to her because she told them her dream in the anime.

Aizou and Yujiro find girls to be annoying, so they’re not going to just trust and like Hiyori because she has a dream. She, like they had to with each other, had to earn their friendship.

This brings me to the next arc.

The Asuka-Nagisa arc.

In the novel, they’re still moody with Hiyori (and each other but what else is new?) but they do show bouts of friendship. When filming for an MV, there’s a bee in the room, and Hiyori chases it to get rid of it, and Yujiro brings her bug spray, despite being afraid of insects.

It’s small, but that does show that he does care for her.

After watching an Ft4 concert, Hiyori gets knocked over and falls in love with Asuka, who helped her. She later runs into him at a bookstore, and constantly visits said bookstore in order to talk to him.

Eventually, LIPxLIP catch on to what’s going on and drag her out and forces her to admit what’s going on.

They pretty much ignore it after that. Hiyori’s love life is none of their business after all.

Until they catch her writing a cheesy love letter, and Aizou makes her rewrite it because of all of her grammar/spelling errors. Hiyori finally finishes after she gets their approval, and upon seeing Asuka not at the bookstore, she gives it to the manager to deliver it to Asuka...and on the way home, Hiyori realizes that she forgot to write her name on it.

This causes LIPxLIP to laugh at her failure. Upset by this, she screams at them that she’s doing her best and bursts into tears. Realizing they took their teasing way too far, they calm her down and promise to help her. (Though they are pretty mean about her appearance and fashion...which I don’t approve of)

They help her as much as they can, dolling her up, and etc.

But then when Hiyori goes to confess, they see it’s their idol rival, and immediately put a stop to the confession, because ASCANA was trouble to them.

She hears a police car and grabs Yujiro and runs away, and then later goes back. Asuka kindly rejects her, and she stays calm but when she leaves, she cries. Yujiro comforts her, and walks her home.

After that, she’s still upset for a while, and sees a thief at the event running straight for Yujiro. Hiyori is worried for him and tackles the thief.

Hey, remember Herotaru? Hiyori sprained her ankle delivering the rosettes? Yeah THIS is where she ACTUALLY sprains her ankle. She sprained it tackling a thief who was going to hurt Yujiro. This makes Yujiro angry at her, and she gets angry at him in response, and the two have a fight. Aizou tells Hiyori that Yujiro wasn’t mad, and she apologizes. They make up.

Now, back to Herotaru...

Hiyori finds out Nagisa is coming to Tokyo and is :( because he once said as little kids that she doesn’t look good in dresses. She weeps about it to Aizou and Yujiro and they go “>:0 omg we’ll totally prove (her) wrong!” (As they did not know that Nagisa was a guy until Hiyori introduced him)

They see that Nagisa likes Hiyori and tests their theory. Upon being proven correct when Nagisa stands up for her, they approve of him as boyfriend material.

So...since when in the anime did Hiyori say she wanted a relationship? Never. And while I do approve of how she rejects him, saying she has too much on her plate and not enough time for a relationship, Aizou and Yujiro go back to complaining about her appearance and tease her saying she won’t be a heroine because she doesn’t have her conventionally attractive look and no boyfriend.

Um. What.

The lack of buildup here is giving me a whiplash. In fact, the whole arc takes 2 episodes, when the novel was a couple hundred pages long.

After this is the Sports Day episode, taken inspiration from Chapter 1 of the Heroine Development Plan novel.

It’s pretty faithful, the anime even gives us some kotahina and shibarisa and jurikou fanservice, which was fantastic!! The only difference is...

Well...before the race in the novel, some seniors were laughing about Yujiro not being able to run properly, which makes both Aizou and Yujiro pissed off (while Hiyori desperately tried to hide their bad expressions). They win. (And it’s a few chapters later, Yujiro runs into those seniors again who corner him and Hiyori realizes that he was about to be beaten up. She tries calling Aizou so he can help, but steps in herself before Yujiro can get punched. They grab her, and Yujiro almost kicks them for shoving her. She grabs Yujiro, and runs away.)

In the anime, however, they push those seniors to a lesser degree, making them corner him saying he’s a B-rated idol. Hiyori calls out that the race is starting, and the seniors leave. Aizou is left totally in the dark about this, and no one tells him anything. And during the race, Hiyori trips giving the baton to Aizou.

(Also, nitpick? They made Hiyori trip delivering the rosettes in the anime and then here, so why not make her trip in the Yumeru scene? It would have kept up her clumsy character fine, but ig the anime writers don’t know what clever writing is lol.)

This scene in the anime takes away Yujiro’s character. It takes away the fact that he’s grown to be protective of Hiyori as his friend. It takes away little moments that show us what kind of a person he is.

But then again, Yujiro was only meant to be Aizou’s arm candy in the anime, huh?

It also takes away from Hiyori’s character. It takes away that she’s headstrong, reckless, and will put herself in danger in order to keep her friends safe.

Now, onto eps 9 - 12...

Um. Okay.

So in the MVs, we know in Heroine Tarumono that Chizuru took the photos and posted them and Hiyori got bullied. That much was accurate in the anime.

However, in Fansa and Minikui Ikimono, we see silhouettes of what looks to be Hiyori and...someone else? We never did get confirmation as to who that is. But for years, ever since Fansa’s release, we’ve been dying to know who it is with her. We know that it’s a scandal. That’s all.

The anime combines the bullying with that scene. And I don’t think the two were supposed to be conjoined. Otherwise, why would the scandal photo be so different from the photos that Chizuru took?

And...

Remember the novels? Hiyori never quit her job. In the anime, she left like, every other episode, pretty much. Every time an inconvenience happened.

So...what...was the point of this? To show that anime-Hiyori is a quitter??? Okay..? Thanks for bastardizing one of the best girls, I guess???

And then Yappa Saikyou (song linked above). In the MV, we see that it’s a big concert with LIPxLIP, Ft4, Mona, and ASCANA, and we see a young Fuuma in the audience too. (He’s from Dolce, a group that debuts a little in the future)

In the anime, it’s a concert with only LIPxLIP and Ft4. Now, I can understand not including Ascana, because their voice actors graduated and they no longer do work as those characters. They hosted their final stream quite some time ago. But the anime includes Mona in a few episodes.

So why is she not at the Yappa Saikyou concert? Why does Fuuma not even get a minor cameo???

And yet EVERYONE ELSE IS AT THE CONCERT??? Ken, Arisa, Kotaro, Hina, Gen 1 (except Haruki...and I think Miou too..? I don’t remember tbh but I’m not going back to look), the Someya Family, Yuko (WHO IS SUPPOSED TO BE IN FRANCE BTW!!!)...um. What? Lmfao? Is this some sort of “Alls well that ends well!” bullshit???

Um. Okay.

If the anime can include everyone, why not include at least one of the performers who was supposed to be there?!?!?!?!?!

Summarizing it all up:

The anime had potential to be good if it actually followed its source material. Yes, they’re continuing Nagisa and Hiyori’s story through Yamako, Gom and Shito now, and hopefully, they’ll make their relationship more beautiful.

But with the novels, the MVs...the anime just had way too much content to squeeze into 12 episodes, and it created this OOC, rushed piece of garbage.

What Yamako, Shito, Gom, and Mari all created is something beautiful. Something that takes time. You won’t just trust people immediately, you have to earn people’s trust and respect.

Even in LOVE&KISS, Aizou and Yujiro still fight, but they find that they can still rely on each other. They saw each other’s traumas, and worked to help each other overcome it, and stood by each other when things got tough, and the world was turning against them.

But in the anime, it seemed that they were only ever drawn together to come as a package deal, not because they have a genuine bond.

I personally love Aizou and Yujiro’s relationship, the homoerotic subtext, and the theme of “we have our backs, no matter what.” (See: Seika, Yellow, and Samishigariya)

And I genuinely love how the novels showed us how a friendship can go from something ugly, to something true and genuine. Hell, in Heroine Dev, Hiyori makes a New Years wish to be able to support Aizou and Yujiro’s dreams. That’s a HUGE leap from the beginning of Nonfantasy’s novel.

But the anime just trashes their stories and makes it into this...weird circle of “yeah we friends because...well, we just are!”

If the anime was not an adaptation and was a standalone, then it would probably work, because there’s nothing to base the anime off of. But since it is an adaptation, it deserves to be criticized as an adaptation.

I mean, tell me, do you not look at say, Percy Jackson? You read the books and love them. Do you love the movie too and praise it for being perfect? No.

It’s the same with Honeyworks.

The anime took everything that made Aizou, Yujiro, Hiyori, and their friendship so special...and just shat all over it.

And with so many people only getting into the anime, it makes me refuse to ever forgive them for bastardizing three amazing, deep, and relatable characters and making them out to be pathetic, basic, shoujo and idol characters with no real depth to them.

I'd originally used the word 'upvotes', due to the rules of the poll dictating that you upvoted the person you wanted out, but I figured this version would better preserve the sentiment should it be voided of context.

No lesbian space tanukis were harmed in the voting of the poll; Suletta was recovered safely from the vacuum of space and has forsworn revenge. Now, her sister whose a literal ghost in the machine that can hijack WMDs, on the other hand...

Context: There's been a protagonist elimination poll on the Gundam subreddit for the past couple weeks. Suletta was doing very well, but her winning streak finally ended and she was voted out at 4th place. I didn't think the poll was supposed to be particularly serious, since the first elimination, Judau Ashta from Mobile Gundam ZZ, was due to a meme[5], so to pay tribute to Suletta's valiant struggle, I wrote a parody song. Unfortunately, some folks took the poll and their beef with fictional teenagers Very Seriously[6], so it got a mixed reception. Still, a few folks enjoyed it, and I think I did a good job, so I decided to preserve it and share it with folks here as well.

The opening song for Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ is "Anime Ja Nai ~Yume o Wasureta Furui Chikyūjin yo~", which apparently translates to "It's Not Anime (You Antiquated Earthlings Who Have Forgotten Dreams), so it's a fairly common meme in Gundam fandom that ZZ 'is not anime'.

Considering the show ended 9 months ago at this point, which as far as the modern entertainment cycle goes might as well be 9 years, the longer The Witch from Mercury continues to live in haters' heads rent-free, the more I'm impressed. Here's to hoping folks are still living mad about it 9 actual years from now.

Yume's glorious masquerade outfit! I had a lot of fun designing this, though it took me time to render! I think Yume would really like this event and dressing up with all their friends, being a silly little clown.

I saw a post saying how Idia's outfit resembled the Commedia dell'Arte Character of the "Dottore" and it inspired me to make a counterpart (or CLOWNterpart lol.) And make Yume's costume based on the Dell'Arte character of "Pedrolino", better known as a Pierrot French clown. The character is one that is normally portrayed as young dreamy naive, personable, charming, and kind, to the point of excess -- he blames himself for wrongs never done and because of his good and trusting nature is often easily tricked.

(And while that isn't exactly Yume I think its what people often assume of them when they see/meet them.)

I don't know what this year April Fools Project Sekai gonna make, so I'm making this before it's happens for the Nexo Knights.

On April Fools 2022, Project Sekai make an April Fools unit. Which means each members of said units switch with another member of their units and also recreated their group name. Which the following Nexo Knights are going to which units? Because of this being an April Fools, I just used the wheel, because in now way I understand what in the world SEGA thinking.

Clay will be in Kyujitsu, Shumijin Doushi de. (Don't look at me, blame the wheel). With the group members; Mochizuki Honami, Hanasato Minori, Kusanagi Nene, and Akiyama Mizuki. Honami and Clay might get along. Minori might be admire Clay's hard work and try to follow suit what he do. Nene might get along with him but be a little freak out or nervous if he ever drop his polite and gentle expression.

Macy will be in Happiness Sentai SaniSani☆Wonder! With the group members; Kiritani Haruka, Azusawa Kohane, Otori Emu, and Asahina Mafuyu. Macy might get along with Haruka, who reminds her of Clay. Macy might try to help Kohane overcome her fear and be more self-confident in herself. She also get along with Emu but can't always keep up with her energy. She don't know we'll about Mafuyu, either Mafuyu is acting or she isn't really acting.

Aaron will be in YUME YUME JUMP! With the group members; Hinomori Shiho, Hinomori Shizuku, Shiraishi An, and Yoisaki Kanade. He and Shiho might get along but Shiho had to keep up with his reckless. He might be a reckless but he did help Shizuku to understand some certain thing she might not get, so he get along with her. He is very energetic and try to get Kanade to be one as well, it did not end well.

Lance will be in Fantasista SQUAD. With the group members; Shinonome Akito, Aoyagi Toya, Tenma Tsukasa and Kamishiro Rui. Akito might not stand with Lance, thinking it's another Tsukasa. Toya might admire Lance, with how he admire Tsukasa (no baby, don't admire!). They get along, the star and the actor/knight get along so well. Lance might be a little overreacted to Rui's shenanigans.

And lastly Axl with Aoharu/friends. He might be playing bass guitar. With the group members; Hoshino Ichika, Tenma Saki, Momoi Airi, and Shinonome Ena. Ichika and Saki might be impressed with Axl look and him playing the bass, remind them so much of Shiho. Airi might try to get Axl to eat less food but of course, fail and just let him. Axl definitely like Ena's art, just like Ena likes Axl's cooking.

In April Fools 2023, the event brought all units into a school-themed world. Two of the original in-game schools were removed temporarily, making room for “MIKUdemy,” which followed “Dayo-Sensei” (Mikudayo’s) principal service. Yoisaki Kanade and all members of the VIRTUAL SINGERs received new models wearing school uniforms. As Dayo-Sensei, Mikudayo wore a bushy mustache, round glasses, and a gray suit-and-tie. Like the 2022 April Fools event, Robo-Nene and Mikudayo (as Dayo-Sensei) fly over the overworld map. The only areas that triggered conversations were the entirety of MIKUdemy and the center square, rendering all other areas obsolete.

There are 4 different class with one each member from each units in it. I am not sure if Nexo Knights should have their own class but they also need a vocaloid for their class, and both Kagamine also in the same class same goes for Luka and MEIKO, so I just put them in those said 4 class.

Clay will be in Cautious Heart. The classmates are Mochizuki Honami, Azusawa Kohane, Kiritani Haruka, Tenma Tsukasa and Asahina Mafuyu. The Vocaloid classmates are Megurine Luka and MEIKO.

Macy will be in Solid Heart. The classmates are Hinomori Shiho, Momoi Airi, Shinonome Akito, Kusanagi Nene, and Shinonome Ena. The Vocaloid classmates is KAITO.

Aaron and Lance will be in Passion Heart. You can't separate these two, they even get along when they were in Knight's Academy. The classmates are Hanasato Minori, Tenma Saki, Shiraishi An, Kamishiro Rui and Akiyama Mizuki. The Vocaloid classmates are Kagamine Rin and Kagamine Len.

And lastly Axl will be in Pure Heart. The classmates aren't technically seems like innocent like Emu, but it's more likely depends on how kind and caring they are. The classmates are Hoshino Ichika, Hinomori Shizuku, Aoyagi Toya, Otori Emu, and Yoisaki Kanade. The Vocaloid classmates is Hatsune Miku.

That is all. When these April Fools 2024 will came, I will see what the event they have and reblog this post again about it.
