Sort of random rambling nonsense but you’re the person with the closest opinions to my own I think (you even have a Clarke url and she’s still my favorite ever!) so apologies if it comes off bitter and unhinged BUT. I love byler, prefer it even, as a ship because I love Will and the childhood best friends trope sucks me in every time, but the fandom is literally insane and I can’t stand it. I think it’s because I’m in my 20s and a lot of them are teens but some of the behavior is just inexcusable honestly? “El has to be independent” horrible takes everywhere, Mike HAS to be gay (which is just biphobia most of the time), Will will NEVER be happy unless he’s with Mike and never moves on, Mike only liked El because she had no hair and looked like a boy at first, etc. Don’t even get me started on the “proofs” that get so unhinged that I genuinely wonder if some of them are ok—today I saw one comparing a shot from the Suzie scenes to the last supper painting???? And even though I am neutral on mileven it’s clear that’s what they’re going with so all of this absolute byler endgame certainty everywhere also baffles me. The thing is, I find the ship adorable still, but I really wish the stans could get a collective reality check because they’re embarrassing and obnoxious and sometimes. I wonder how they could’ve watched vol2 and not realized they’re telling the unrequited love angle in canon and can just make transformative content to alleviate that in fanon. /end vent
OH ANON I LOVED THIS ASK SO MUCH, thank u for sharing how you’re feeling and i can just say: SAME, FUCKING SAME. first i’m gonna say something if u know me/my account, u should know that i was (i think i still am, i’m just on....hiatus) a hardcore byler shipper since 2016/season 1, when this ship used to be a crackship and a joke for many people, it was TOUGH back then, i’ve been loving them for years, bc just like u said: childhood friends to lovers is amazing, it’s one of my favorite tropes ever, i have many other ships like this... and just like u said i also love will, i LOVE will, with all my heart (i’m a willelsteve stan since 2016), and now about the fandom i’ll say, it was understandable having hope before vol 2, the whole mike not saying i love you to el was a bit weird to me and to the rest of the fandom, my account before and after vol 2 is two different accounts lmao, before vol 2 i was being hopeful, i made some gifsets with theories and all, i thought that the only way the story would make sense was if byler happened/mileven break up, but after vol 2 something changed, it was like if something finally clicked you know? every missing part, every doubt, every confusion i had disappeared and things became cristal clear to me, and i sit and thought about everything that happened in season 4 and the past seasons and i finally took my byler shipper glasses off and i saw how naive i was being, also a little dumb lmao, u don’t need to be smart af or understand everything about media to know that the direction byler is going is the unrequited one, byler actually never stood a chance, mike and will’s relationship was important to will for him to find out he is gay, it’s actually a little cliche i know but it makes sense, if it wasn’t mike it would have been lucas, or dustin, but since mike is will’s best friend it was him, and it makes sense will would fall in love with the first person to show him kindness and was friendly, we all know how caring mike can be with him, so it makes sense, i can talk about myself like i find out i was bisexual bc i fell in love with my best friend, and spoiler alert we didn’t work, but i will always be grateful for her because i was able to find out who i am (insert the i know what u are meme here lmao), which i think is the same for will, this is the story the duffers are telling, this is part of will’s storyline.... now let’s go to some topics:
the “el has to be independent” take: BULLSHIT, i think if u have been watching the show u should know that el, just like joyce and nancy are independent af, el was away from mike in s2 and she had adventures by HERSELF to find out who she is, to find out about her powers, her mom, etc....in season 3 she also had adventures by herself and max, and in season 4 we saw her again going back to the lab by herself to figure stuff out and get her powers back.......so as we can see, ELEVEN IS INDEPENDENT, but at the end of the day she always comes back to mike bc she’s IN LOVE with him and people need to accept that, it doesn’t make her weak or not independent, it’s part of who she is, she’s in love, female characters can be in love and independent, they don’t have to pick one, they can have BOTH. PERIOD.
the “mike has to be gay” ............sigh.......... tbh anon i’m tired of talking about this, i’ve already talked about how the byler fandom can be biphobic af sometimes which is one of the reasons why i’m.....distant from them now, so i’m not gonna speak about this again, just know that if u don’t think that mike ever had any romantic feelings for el ur literally embarrassing urself, he’s not confused or anything, mike was created in love with el.... let’s talk about mike btw, remember how i said that after vol 2 something clicked? so mike is part of this, mike has SO MUCH overlooked trauma and people don't even realize it, el’s “death” is season 1 marked him for good, and everything we are watching now is the result of this trauma, season 2 is not the “best mike season” like people say, mike was depressed, going through pstd, he literally says to will that he thought he was going crazy, and after all that sadness he finds out el is alive again and WOW, it was like he finally could breath again, we can see in his eyes, the longing, the sadness, the relief..... and just like that he had to let her go again so she could save the world ONCE AGAIN, and he was so scared, he was crying and he made her promise to him that she would be back..... and then we have season 3, el can’t leave her house bc you know my baby girl is wanted in 65656564 countries lmao so #GIRLBOSS of her if u ask me, so mike has to go to her house to spend time with her since she cant leave her house that much or go to public places, and that makes him be distant from his friends for a little bit but can we blame him? like i know that he could manage his time better but lets not forget that hes also a kid KDJGSNJDKGNKJGNSG like he was what? 13? in season 3? do u really expect a 13 year old to know EVERYTHING? but people say “lucas can do that with max just fine” first max it’s not el, like i said el is wanted in 545645645 countries, it’s easy to manage ur time with ur friends/girlfriend when ur girlfriend can hang out with u all the time, like lucas can take max to watch movies, mike can’t, anyways you know what i mean, this is getting too long so i will link u to these posts where i talked about mike and mileven and how i think his storyline makes sense in s4 here and here, the show have been telling us about mike’s insecurity and fear about losing el for seasons now, but we weren’t paying attention....
and finally the “Will will NEVER be happy unless he’s with Mike and never moves on” BIG SIGH, i said it once and i’ll say it again: DON’T REDUCE WILL DOWN TO HIS FEELINGS FOR MIKE, JUST DON’T, it’s part of him? YES, but it’s not everything about him as a character, the whole “Will will only be happy if he’s with mike” is such bullshit bc idk if u noticed but will already lived without mike, bc he never had mike to begin with, you can't lose something you never had, if we could take away the trauma from the upside down off him we could see that will can be happy just by being next to his friends, to his family, tbh i feel like will’s storyline is about growing up, being able to love and accept himself and understand that he’s loved, he’s not a mistake or a freak, that’s will’s character, and i hope more than anything that my baby boy can learn how to love himself and finally be free, el kind of had the same stuff in season 4 too, when she finally stand up to her abuser and said she’s not the monster, ofc it’s still a working in progress bc she blames herself for max now but is still something, and i want will to have that too.
and FINALLY the “proofs” i’ll just say: LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i’m sorry jfkgnkdjnsdkjgndksjgndkgnskjgndkjgn i laugh so much everytime i read their theories, they are so unserious, they are queerbating themselves and they don't even realize that, they DO need a reality check asap.... but hey whatever makes them happy i just hope they're not assholes when none of this happens
ok i already talked too much, bottom line is: ship whatever u want, whatever u love, byler is such a sweet ship, they are cute af (the fandom is nasty tho), but we all know this is not the direction the show is going and as long as you know that....be free, u can ship non canon ships you know, shipping is not about canon or endgames, is about a dynamic u love no matter what. and we know that will has feelings for mike and like u said we can work with that, i know it’s sad when ur favorite pairing it’s not canon but what can i say? it happens, i have many non canon ships and i still adore them more than anything in the world.

What was the discourse back in the day about cas reaper sex?
from what i remember there were two main points: people read it as non consensual, and people read it as a big fuck you to everyone who shipped him with dean.
re the first point: cas had just became human and when he fell from heaven it was several states away from the winchesters. he was hardcore struggling, and there was a night where he was sleeping in an alley in the rain and this woman was like. oh man you’re really going through it you can crash at my place for tonight. they get to her place, she initiates, they kiss for about 20 seconds and then we get a fade to black and they’re lying in bed. the next morning she reveals that she’s actually a reaper tasked with hunting cas down and killing him and everything she did was to gain his trust/fact find for her mission. and then she tortures and kills him.
point two: ppl had been hardcore shipping destiel for six years and this was the first time cas had a solid and textual love interest and it was... a woman. people felt like it had just been sunk and the new intention was to make cas explicitly straight and were obviously upset about this. it helps to remember that this wasn’t like... oh they made my fun pairing straight :( it was oh they made the pairing that was at the top of ao3 that cast and crew both explicitly knew about and referenced in panels that they specifically made bait for, straight.
i reblogged sthing about it the other day but basically a lot of the crew on the show hopped on twitter to be like we do not intend to make dean or cas gay, and then fans got MORE mad so they backpedaled into “but keep watching and who knows.....” and someone else tweeted “i wouldn’t interpret him sleeping with a woman as straight persay” which made ME mad because i knew it was the cw and they weren’t gonna do nuanced bisexual stories, they were just panicking because people were yelling about it. and leo king misha tweeted “you’re not crazy.” thanks dude. also as a #cas #stan i was mad because cas only showed up every few episodes and i was REALLY invested in his human plot line and then all he did for half the episode was get slept with. i was like good god they really made him human and then all he did was have sex and become an angel again.

I see Bakugou as someone who likes a lot of bass with a strong and deep rhythm. A beat that goes off like his explosions. When he's listening to music while training or working out, the beats hype him up, pushing himself to go harder.

He's not someone whose fully invested in EDM, he just likes the ones with a good bass drop and sounds good, even when beats tend to switch up into something more intense. However, there are times he might listen to something not as intense and in your ears, but it still hypes him up.

Bakugou tried to kick him out, but Kaminari was determined and finally, Bakguou gave in reluctantly, knowing Kaminari wouldn't leave until he got what he wanted. Much to Bakugou's surprise, for once Kaminari was silent. He sat on Bakguou's bed taking in the sound, listening to the bass coming from the speakers, feeling it in his bones.
→ Kaminari: *is thinking thoughtfully after the song ends* "You know...this might sound weird but it's like I feel it deep in my body. It's the same feeling I get before I use my quirk. How it feels when I build my electricity up and release it."
Bakugou wouldn't admit he felt the same, but he understood exactly what Kaminari meant. That's why he loved this type of music so much. From that day on, Kaminari would sometimes ask Bakugou for song recommendations and even though Bakugou would 'tsk,' he'd still send them, secretly enjoying that someone understood him musically.
BONUS: I've joked about this before, but I also see him liking Nicki Minaj. I'm sorry ya'll I can't let it go. He genuinely thinks she's one badass woman. He heard ONE verse before and was taken back. Then he did research and stumbled across the Anaconda music video and sat there with a flushed face for five minutes.
Kirishima
His taste in music definitely stemmed from his phase in middle school. Nothing too hardcore but nothing mellow either. He especially liked hearing the guitars and drums that are prevalent in songs. He started out listening to Alternative Rock and the band 'All Time Low' became one of his favorites.

When Kirishima entered UA, his taste in music changed into...well anything he thought sounded good. A pop singer just released a new song? Cool! Let him listen to it! Rap? Sounds manly! Meeting new people and hearing their suggestions while tieing them to their personalities made Kirishima open his eyes to new artists. Just some simple feel-good music.

He found himself humming along to more upbeat songs, but there are times he'll go revisit the music from his younger days, smiling to himself while the familiar strings of guitars echo in his ears. Of course, Mina knew all about his phase in middle school often sends him fond looks when he's listening to new music. Kirishima is also most comfortable with Mina listening with him.

That made Kirishima perk his head up as he tried to get her to say what she wanted to say. Truthfully, Mina was just happy that Kirishima seemed more at ease with himself and could look back with fondness, the genre holding a special place in his heart.
Kaminari
I see Kaminari as someone who has always genuinely preferred whatever he thinks sounds good, always open to finding new artists to listen too. However, he also is the kind of guy who will randomly blurt out a song that's been used as a meme. Photograph by Nickleback? He sings it with his soul. Mad World by Gary Jules? He'll walk up to his friends and sing it to them with emotion. On his own, he calms down and might listen to something more upbeat and fun.

Her music makes Mina feel like a boss woman and confident, something she loves belting the lyrics out too. I was a Very Casual ‘oh my moots are listening to them I guess ill satisfy my curiosity and listen too’ listener of bangtan in the ye olde days until I heard this song and absolutely lost all my marbles. like I remember when they first debuted and my dash was...full of gifs of their mvs.....and like I was a H U G E fan of bap and block b and exo back then and really didnt care for bts’ sound or image or the idol hiphop nonsense back then. and then there was all this drama and fan wars and controversy which further turned me off and. god. high school shirley was So Fucking Pretentious like I liked epik high and tiger jk and thought I was Peak Hiphop and I didnt care for other tomfoolery.
I became a fan when I Need U rolled out and then hyyh2 dropped and this song came up and absolutely shattered everything I knew about music and lyricism to my classical trained ears. like I cant fully explain to you how absolutely yoongi is a musical genius he fucking???? did that!!!! and made it sound good??????? what fucking hogwash witchcraft bullshit????????????? (it also doesnt escape my notice that one of the few songs that jin opens was the song that signed me up as an army thank you king we dont deserve you)
2. Awake - Wings (2017)
this song fucking tore me to shreds. like the album dropped during a full day of econ and math lectures so I couldn't actually listen until I got back to the dorms, so my roommates set up the mv and album for me as soon as I got home (after a whole bunch of teasing and screaming in the gc) and I was still mentally recovering from The Kiss(tm) (srsly I screamed loud enough our RA ran into our dorm thinking we were being murdered) and then awake happened and I just.....emotionally eviscerated. fuck. it hit me so hard.
this is also really special to me bc I became a hardcore Seokjin stan after hearing this live at the Wings tour in Newark (I know!!! who was I before I became Enlightened and stanned the icon of our generation the king of the universe kim seokjin ah wow poor nirvana-less past shirley its ok you were valid bby soon you will understand) and then seeing them win the MAMAs and them look so shocked and crying made me realize I was in this bangtan shit for life.
3. Epilogue: Young Forever - The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever (2016)
this song came out right towards the end of my freshman year in college when I had a lot of shit going on in my life and it kinda felt like the world was collapsing around me no matter what........and.......not to be dramatic............this song came along and uplifted me into a better place. they came during a time where I was barely hanging on and said ‘its ok. we understand. you got this.’ every time I heard this song it felt like I was being swaddled in that fluffy sunshine yellow blanket jimin has in serendipity and I was safe and loved and cared for.
fuck I still cant even listen to ‘dreams, hope, forward, forward’ bc the korean for ‘forward’ sounds so much like a mixture of chinese and japanese and it felt so hopeful.....like I was being supported by people who sincerely wanted the best for me even if they didnt know me and thats......just such a lovely feeling to have. music really transcends all barriers. thank you BTS.
4. Intro: Never Mind - The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, pt. 2 (2015)
this fucking song defined my entire freshman year. it got me my first crazy college story (my first friend in college and I were jamming and yelling to this song when the ra from the floor above thought we were doing beer pong with like 2 dozen other people and literally stormed our room when really it was just the two of us and some microwaved instant ramen and our leaning tower of notes acting as the dj tower), my first friends in college, my first bts bias, my first taste of feeling like finding your musical soulmate, my first understanding of truly respecting and analyzing and contemplating an artist for their craft outside of doing it in school......I might have been already been in the kpop scene way before bangtan, but it was really truly bangtan that I truly grew up with if that makes sense
fun fact: you know the memory hack where if you listen to one song and cram, then you think of the song if ur stuck and then BAM you remember? kinda like chewing the same flavor of gum during ur exams as when you are studying but better for the environment? well yea. I did that during my finals that year and I Really Fucking Annoyed all my neighbors by rapping (super badly) to never mind (yes even the korean. yes I may be Asian but I have No Talent speaking in korean. so yes you can imagine how terrible I would sound rapping in korean) on all 8 of my written finals (important tip from future shirley: the life of a double major is hell. don't do it. dont be like me. learn from me. you will d i e)
5. So Far Away ft. Jin, Jungkook - BTS Festa 2017
this is the song that sings me to sleep at night and keeps me sane. god where do I even begin. ok. so agust d? the best thing to have happen to barely adult shirley. thank you min yoongi for embracing all of us and letting us into even the dark ugly parts of your personal struggles. suran? my actual queen. ive loved her since she featured on callin in love and mannequin w beenzino and primary and when I heard she was back and featured on a yoongi song? I fucking lost it. best song on the album next to tony montana and the last.
anyways, set scene: a freshly minted jin stan barely adulting shirley who hardly has her life together, and festa came and dropped this masterpiece in her lap. cue: cathartic crying for like 5 hours fresh from a semi-serious car accident and a bunch of medical complications and family issues. cue: latching onto this song as an emotional crutch, and later, emotional support song. I listen to this song at least once a day. I will go off to war for this song.

When did you first get into BTS? Mid 2015, so around the middle of INU/Dope era. Never looked back since.
Why or/and how did you get into BTS: So uhhh I was watching a react video of Kpop (I don’t even know why when I was never a hardcore fan of it. I would occasionally listen to Big Bang, Hyuna and BoA only because I had a friend really into it) and the boys came up and one look at Kim Seokjin’s beautiful smile had me hooked lkajfaf For real tho, idk why, but their music just really stood out to me.
First BTS song: Dope/INU. Honestly....forever in my heart as one of my fav era’s.
Favorite BTS song: .... :( I don’t like this question. I basically love all their songs and some I just love a little less lakdjlkaf But my current fav songs off the MOTS 7 album are Filter, Louder Than Bombs, Black Swan and UGH! Of all time? Top 5 are BS&T, DDAENG, Mic Drop, Silver Spoon and Run.
First official comeback: Dope, kind of, but Run was my first complete comeback that solidified my nails in the coffin. ⚰️
Favorite era: I like this question leSS. Uhhh...between Wings and The Most Beautiful Moment In Life Pt. 2! I really love the whole story vibe they had going on and the endless theories. Its what got me into them the most.

First BTS concert: 2017 BTS Live Trilogy! Ommggg seeing the album Wings come to life will always be a special memory for me. This was at the time before the boys got ridiculously huge and the Honda Center seemed so small compared to the Rose Bowl, even the Staples Center! Admin RD and I had front row seats and let me tell you...the floor had no chairs (the fans were standing) and honestly the stage was at most 15 steps away from us. They were close regardless of not having floor seats!
Do you own any mercy: ....basing this off of Fizzy’s response I’m assuming this means merch and not Mercy from OW?💀 I’m old But anyway, I do! I have the army bomb vers 2 & 3, along with their albums from Wings up until MOTS 7 (Admin RD bought most of these for us) and some BT21 stuff that I got and some that Admin RD bought for me 💕 She’s my sugar mama😜
What member would you say you are most like? Hmmm....a mix between Yoongi and Namjoon.
Favorite BTS lyrics: “I want to tell you, that darkness exists everywhere, don't be afraid of it. Whatever night may swallow me, I won't give up” and also “ In the end, we reached the mirage and it became our reality. Favorite Music video: I’m a hoe for nostalgia, so I Need U the original MV is it for me. Despite them not having the biggest budget back then, that MV drew me into the story line they had. Plus Taehyung’s acting in the scene where he kills his father? Unmatched.
1 thing you love about bts: Only one?? Nada mas uno??? Uhhh...honestly its their determination and their passion to just never give up on their goals and dreams despite the hardships. They truly rose to the top with their blood, sweat and tears and still stayed humble. That’s not something you see often.

happy three year anniversary limelights !!
i can’t believe its been three years oh my gosh. the joy these five boys have brought me over the past 3+ years is insane. (sry for the bad grammar i’ll edit this later its 12:30am i’m exhausted)
here is my story with corbyn, daniel, jack, jonah and zach
the first person i found out about was jonah. i was going to see digitour in 2015 and he was on the lineup. i was like ok, gotta find out who he is. this man had the best cover of night changes ever. i still listen to it to this day. he was amazing on stage, although i do not remember much of it, i know he was great. i followed him ever since, from pressplay to the band.
next was corbyn, i happened across his younow. he was amazing. hands down my favorite, sorry boys. i watched all his younows. i became obsessed with jake miller because of him. corbyn was the first to follow me on twitter. he would do late night broadcasts and after one of the broadcasts i dm’d him askin a question and he reaponded. you can only imagine how freaked out i was. i followed him from younow to impact to the band.
after corbyn i found zach and jack through corbyn. corbyn was on this younower/influencer tour with jack and zach. simon britton, hunter and brandon rowland, weston koury, nathan triska and more were on it. they would travel to a city on a weekend, rent a house and do a meet and greet and show. it was really cool, they did broadcasts together at the houses, my personal favorite part. at that time, jack had straight hair and zach was just the instagram stitches boy. (if you don’t know that, idk u)
i found daniel when the band started, i didn’t watch american idol so i had no previous idea of him.
but when the band started, i was so excited. whether or not i knew all or them, i would have loved the band. them separately and together are amazing. i can still remember them announcing the band. the first vlog. the release of taking you. those memories are so vivid in my brain.
i was a hardcore stan from the beginning. the band retweeted one of my tweets about the ep. it was an edit of the boys holding the eps, how they announced only the beginning. (corb posted it on ig) from that tweet, the band acc, daniel and zach followed me. (on twitter) so yes i have 3/5 + the band accs follow. it was a crazy day.
i unfortunately couldn’t go to the first show they had in milwaukee, january of 2017 but the following year i made up for it by going twice, once in march and again in august. seeing them makes me so happy. i have seen them again this past june. if you have not seen them i highly recommend
it has been my dream to meet corbyn and tell him how much he means to me. he has helped me through so much. i can just hear his voice and calm down, feel better and refreshed. he makes me happy. i just want to hug him and never let him go. i have not had the chance to meet him unfortunately. someday soon, i will do whatever it takes to see him, talk to him and hug him
this past year or so, i have become really attached to the people surrounding the band such as the family members and friends. christina, gabriela and tatum have played such a big role in my life this past year or more, christina definitely at least three. the gonzalez family alone is basically my lifeline. lavender may avery is the love of my life. anna seavey is a huge role model for me. rachel, kay, lainey, gabriela, samuel, ryan, ava, and so many more are so amazing, i wish i could be like them. isla and reece have a life all kids wish they could have.
i love this band with my whole ass heart. if you read this whole thing i love you, i did not proof read and its 12:30 am, i’m tired.
to the band, i love you. thank you for being you, your silly ass selves. i love you, i can’t say it enough. and guys, take a break. tour, album, tour, tour, tour. you guys need a break every once in a while. come on, jack has a child and he won’t get this time back. take some more breaks, give him time with lavender so he can watch her grow up, and not through a screen. i say this with love. you all deserve the world. i hope you know how much your music means to me and how much i love you. happy three year anniversary loves

It used to be SM, hardcore actually, but recently I’m pretty annoyed with them =/ I still love their artists, and my #1 fandom is from SM, but I’m just super annoyed with the way they distributed comebacks and promotions these past two years... in 2017 they basically only promoted red velvet and nct (and exo a bit) and even though snsd an suju also had comebacks they didn’t give them an actual promotion (suju promote themselves, but I mean they only performed for one week before red velvet had another comeback and they stopped promoting)... idk I just wish they’d give all of their artists the same amount of promotions and comebacks =/ *cough*fx*cough*
Recently I’ve been a lot more into Starship! Even without Sistar (who were the ones who got me interested in the company to begin with), I love most of Starship’s artists. My favorite girl group ever is WJSN, and Monsta X are also one of my secondary fandoms... And I love Boyfriend, K.Will, Sewoon, Mind U, Duetto (aka those guys who did the opera girl group medley)...
So yeah, I guess SM and Starship.

Okay there are two parts to it. First, in the end of 2008, a friend of mine introduced me to DBSK. I liked them, but I wasn’t THAT into them... I preferred their Japanese songs because I was more used to jpop at the time, and even though I watched shows with them and stuff (the mini dbsk episode on star king ;;;;;;;) it never became an actual obsession. Another friend tried to introduce me to F.T.Island when she heard I liked a kpop group, but I really wasn’t interested; I did like their songs but I wasn’t that hooked.
Then in September 2009 (yes I remember the exact date) I went with the same friend who introduced me to dbsk on a drive to visit another friend who lived about an hour away, and on the way she put a playlist of a few songs. I only remember two songs that were on the playlist - Sorry Sorry and Don’t Don. I remember thinking they were really stupid songs, especially sorry sorry, and when she told me that they were 13 (plus two guys who are in a subgroup but they’re still super junior but they’re not actually in the group - she explained it about Henry’s violin part in Don’t Don) I was like wtf why would anyone listen to them. But then the next day Sorry Sorry has been stuck in my head, so I went to listen to it. Then downloaded it. Then downloaded all of their official discography (not including subgroups, so it was only 3 albums lol) and decided to challenge myself to learn all of their names. Then I fell in love.
Then through them I got to know about snsd and shinee, and around that same time B2ST (aka highlight) debuted and that same friend told me about them... Then idk I probably looked for people to talk to about Super Junior and found someone on msn (no fucking idea how I had her) and she introduced me to a lot more groups...
And that’s pretty much what happened. It’s been a long, long ride lol.

1. if you had to pick one member to be your brother, who’d u choose n why ? Dowoon! He’s just so sweet and kind! We’re pretty close in age, but i would totally dote on him! (I was gonna say Brian, but I would not want to be constantly living up to his expectations haha)
2. jae with dark hair or jae with blonde hair? Dark hair Jae. He was gone too soon and will forever be missed

3. who in your bias group would you go on a roadtrip with? I’d go with Sungjin! He can drive and he’s got those leader skills so he’d know how to plan a fun trip!

5. if you could recommend your bias one song/book/movie what would it be? I’d recommend day6 to watch Kimi no Na Wa/ Your Name! That movie is beautiful and amazing, and very inspirational ( I’m sure they’ve already seen it though)

7. how did you know your bias was your bias? Day6 became my bias group after 1) Letting Go tore me up emotionally and 2) Every song on Daydream was beautiful and transcended reality, they were so good.
8. aaand you can only have one kpop song in your phone for the rest of your life you choose____? HARD! Okay non-day6 songs only! ugghhhhh…. KNOCK KNOCK by twice! It’s random I know but its kind of silly but that song makes me so happy and has really cheered me up in some hard times. 85. Taehyun knows the choreo in another way from as it’s written down and it feels a bit heated
86. The first team has problems doing the tricky chore but the second one gets it pretty well + they have the K-Tiger Byun Hyunmin so its easier for them

my adventures of being an anti to being the biggest stan of EXO
Hey ~ this post isn’t really a need-to-read blog but if you do read it then thank you. Since EXO’s 5th year anniversary is coming soon, I just wanted to share how much I fucking hated the whole genre KPOP itself and how EXO like legit changed my life. cheesy af but bear with me it’s a good story i tell ya, or so I think lol.
I haven’t been a kpop fan for long, but since I’ve been exposed to kpop since I was a kid I grew up listening to a few selected kpop songs which are from the groups every kpop stan should know about. I’m from the Philippines, and I’m still a junior in high school ~ ever since I was a kid me and my elder sister (who also legit turned into a kpop fan herself because of me // both of us were antis before) always tuned in on MTV because music is just the world to us. Back then, I was the biggest brat for One Direction ever since they debuted. So me and my sis would always tune in on MTV to see them, but since it was MTV Asia, ofc they would show groups from all over Asia. That’s when I saw all legends and the biggest hits on kpop like SNSD, 2NE1, 2PM, BIGBANG, SUJU, WONDER GIRLS, PSY, and EXO themselves.
Since EXO was already a big hit during the Wolf era, that was the very first time I saw them on TV and I sure as hell hated them the first time I saw them. I was all like, “Ugh, they’re disgusting” and “Why do they even exist” during that time ~keep in mind this was 2012 ~ I tried to let myself watch them but they never just grew on me that time, like ever. And so at school, my classmates were already aware of this rising kpop group EXO, and I could always hear the name Luhan and Chanyeol. I can never forget how much of a fangirl my friend was to them and I was always glaring at them for liking those types of music and bands since I was a hardcore Directioner during that time.
It wasn’t long since Growl was released, and it became a really huge hit here in the Philippines! I swear to God I remember always hearing the song in malls, in public markets, in stores, in the sidewalks and basically just everywhere! I began to hear more about this group but just ignored it since kpop just really wasn’t my style back then. I saw them around tv, on the news, newspapers and magazines and they just legit boomed during that time. My classmates went really crazy for them and I was still like, “Meh, those idiots aren’t even as famous as One Direction”.
Then came Overdose and EXO boomed even more but I still ignored. I saw them on TV when they had their first concert on Manila, they were on the headlines for singing a very famous filipino song called “Hawak Kamay” and was praised a lot by people and impressed some elders for that. ugh such an iconic time says my exo-l self who missed a lot during that time
Tons and tons and TONS of EXO merchandise were around the Philippines and everyone I see was always wearing them! Although some were not aware of who EXO was, the name EXO and the members numbers were a big fashion hit here in the Philippines. I always saw WOLF 88 printed on their shirts, some with the other members numbers and printed names like shit they still are a big fashion hit here in the Philippines until now.
Moving on, I didn’t hear much about EXO during the Call Me Baby era but I still saw them on tv and online. I kind of faded away from 1D since Zayn left lmao lol iconic time but I still liked the band and their music and all. After I faded away from 1D I was addicted to anime and became an animaniac lol. This isn’t much of an important part of my story so I’ll fast forward.
Fast forward to when I was like in the middle of high school, I have a friend who was a kpop fan since 3rd grade according to what she said, and as I’ve mentioned, ever since before I used to listen to a few kpop songs and I forgot how but I did discover Jay Park on tv and then listened to his music and had a huge crush on him for about 2 years before I became a kpop fan (i still listen to him now i luv his music) and then I listened to some of Taeyang’s music (ofc Eyes,Nose, Lips), with which I had no idea was part of legit the biggest kpop band in the world until I was tempted to listen to some BB songs and secretly listened to Growl when my sister wasn’t watching lmao because who doesn’t like that song???, So back to my point, my friend whom I never knew was a die-hard kpop fan since 3rd grade, was always silent since understandably not much of my friends were kpop fans when I first entered high school.
This part is for me, a hilariously pathetic excuse since this is the time I started being a kpop fan:
It was when we were tackling about the Music of Korea in class, our book had SNSD, Red Velvet, SUJU, 2NE1, and Wonder Girls and had a fun fact part about Dara since she’s called the Pambansang Krung-Krung (”krung krung” is a filipino slang which means foolish weird or crazy and “pambansang” meaning national so she’s legit called the National Weirdo of the Philippines lmao nothing offensive btw dont take it srsly) here in the PH. So after our class, our teacher told us to prepare a dance or a song in korean and put us in groups and I was a group leader since, not to brag, I’m pretty good at singing lmao, I got a little excited over the thought that we would probably sing Eyes Nose Lips or dance Growl and Fantastic Baby like that was already awesome for me. I had a friend who was really good at dancing so I assigned her to help out learning the choreo with me and I searched for what we were gonna present. I ended up choosing Come Back Home by 2ne1, EXO’s Growl and Good Boy by GD and TY. We didn’t have much time for practicing so we just dropped Growl and mashed up Good Boy and Come Back Home.
But while we were practicing our dance, we considered Growl and I downloaded the dance practices for our chosen songs, me and my group watched the choreos carefully and guess what? While watching the Growl dance practice, I suddenly felt weird while watching this EXO member I never noticed before. I asked my kpop friend about it, and I eventually found out this little cute boy was Baekhyun. He wasn’t my bias though, my first EXO bias was Tao but after I found out there were 3 members who left the group and Tao was one of them, I became sad. Tao wasn’t my ub tho.
After our presentations in class, when I got home I suddenly itched to search for EXO some more. I mean it wouldn’t hurt to know about them right? And so I searched and started watching interviews and watched EXO Showtime since people had recommended that watching that would be a good start for a new fan. I din’t watch all the ep’s of EXO Showtime but I did watch the famous episodes of the show, including the last EP which was when I suddenly fell head over heels for the fucking maknae Oh Sehun.
After that, Sehun just became my universal bias, and then I watched Monster and fell in love, and then I became their biggest fan after just one month. Always keeping up with updates, following all the members who had IG accounts, and officially became an EXO-L just when I celebrated with other EXO-L’s online during Yixing’s birthday last year when What U Need? MV came out and then eventually Yixing became my biggest bias wrecker ever.
I’ve only been an EXO-L for seven months, but I have memorized almost every lyric of all their albums and have downloaded every album on my phone. I know all their birthdays and their facts and their ideal types and I’ve memorized some choreos of their songs, I havent’t met them yet but I’m positive to see them before Xiumin’s military enlistment this 2019.
I’ve realized there’s nothing wrong with trying something new out, EXO became a big inspiration for my life, they made me change into a more hard working person. Because of them I actually considered not giving up my dreams of becoming a singer and because of them I actually learned to appreciate dancing lmao. They’ve helped me into focusing on my studies and suprisingly my grades went higher ever since I entered a new life of being a kpop fan.
I explored kpop a bit more after becoming an EXO-L, I also joined the BTS Army fandom shortly after becoming an EXO-L and after seven months of being a kpop fan I legit stan a lot of groups and singers now. I’m a multifandom girl now even tho EXO is my bias group.
I stan BTS, Seventeen, NCT, KARD, 2NE1, BIGBANG, BLACKPINK, DEAN, Red Velvet, GOT7, Jay Park and Heize. I know almost 500 kpop groups and I know a lot about the history of kpop and I know how to speak average Korean now and its only been seven months lol.
