oopsie new gemini heist au just dropped! they're in a metal band now!!!

a little explanation, some ramblings, and an effects-free version below

so this is my cousin's fault lmao. i was telling her about this wip and said something along the lines of "Leo and Zeya have different flavours of abandonment issues" and she replied "that would make such a good band name" and so. uh. the concept of the girls in a band immediately possessed me and i have been doing nothing for the last three days but drawing feverishly 🥲

(krita says i spent nearly 15 hours on this but that feels like a lie.)

legally i have to name the band the Sirens since it's their crew name but Flavours of Abandonment can definitely be their album lmao.

their sound would most resemble Conquer Divide (aka my 2023 most played artist):

i didn't spend more than 5 seconds assigning the girls their instruments but the more i think about it the more it makes sense. Zeya, for example, who is very small and very angry, gets to hit things very hard with sticks that can be analogous to her daggers.

as the keyboardist Gabi has tons of equipment and like, 4 different keyboards for different sounds that she spends countless hours programming, which just felt fitting since she's the tech person in the main canon. (source: my brother is a professional keyboardist.) also, in this au, she's a med school dropout who couldn't handle the pressure.

Leo writes most of the band's lyrics.

i was debating having Kalen in the band too but 6 people was gonna be too much to draw and sort of upset the symmetry i had pictured in my head. maybe in this au she sometimes secretly replaces her sister, say, when Illiana is sick, or just for funsies, idk.

i don't really have anything to say about Euna. uh, bassists are hot. (also, she and Zeya get to riff off each other, and we all know how i feel about their relationship.)

The farther into Heroes of Olympus I get, the clearer it becomes exactly how much Rick Riordan just loves his main character.

Like, everyone is supposed to be attractive and powerful, right? But Jason gets hit on by like. Two people? Leo and Hazel have a tentative crush they decide would be disastrous to act on for many many reasons. Nobody hits on Annabeth or Nico because they're scary. But Percy gets hit on by EVERYONE.

Unless they're his enemy (or a god he has insulted), literally everyone loves Percy Jackson.

#like arrfgggdiakaktmcksmsama this was literally all for me like they knew what they were doing #i love character design i love pokemon i love miku. and then you put ALL THREE TOGETHER....#i will explain some of my choices here #poison miku is just too good but also i am a big sucker for freaky scientists with constant “worry” eyebrows #her design is just so out there and crazy (this is about the shoes. some understand the greatness of the shoes and some dont. and thats ok.)#every other miku in peak i think establishes their theme exeptionally well especially ghost bug and fighting #for ghost i already love spooky and gloomy looking characters and that miku delivers tenfold (of course shes designed by the GOAT take)#esp with the mix of ghostly and electronic/digital regarding the glitchy parts n the 01 hologram #she looks like shell invade my computer and give it a virus if i dont send the chainmail about her tragic file corruption to 10 friends #(in the best way possible)#for bug miku the big dress is a huge plus but also i just think shes adorable nuff said #for fighting - i love a delinquent character and she fits that really well. the half coat thing is a big highlight for me #also the leek theme is absolutely iconic #for the ones i didnt like as much - i honestly just think the koraidon one is a leeeeetle bit boring #dont get me wrong. it has really cool aspects like the hair and the koraidon like cape but idk #it feels like theres a lot going on but not that much at the same time? its still a really nice design tho esp the hair color #for the ones in yellow tier - i just dont like the color palletes very much . theyre still really nice designs esp fire miku #but all in all these are genuinely all amazing designs and i dont want to be too critical or mean to any of them esp seeing im not a pro #but this was really fun to see unfold!!! cant wait until the songs start dropping #in the topic of miku as well - hey muse dash where's my miku on the switch version....#please dont make us wait too long 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿

Sure! and Im going to use my parrot and my interactions with the green thing of evil for reference so hope you don't mind lol

Fang and X being silly and goofy

99% of X's words were taught by Fang, the other 1% was things he heard whenever he's out by himself. Which leads to some rather hilarious situations in the clinic. For example X has called a client a bitch more than once because they were being rude. In front of the patient, Fang scolds X but once they leave he tells X he did right and they were a bitch.

Fang also swears he doesn't say curse words but X knows that is a lie, because he was the one who taught him how to say 'fuck'.

Sometimes when Fang and X are out and X sees someone eating something yummy, he will make little noises until either Fang gives him a snack or the other person gives him some of what there eating. Most of the time its the latter.

Fang likes to tease X by calling him stinky just so to see how X gets offended because he in fact is not stinky and takes pride in preening and cleaning himself properly.

X also likes to preen Fang, but to him preening him means pulling some eyebrow hairs out or trying to rip his eyelashes off. Also X has torn holes in all of Fang's clothing and he has no choice but to patch them only for X to make holes in them again.

It's really funny looking back at my old concepts for this doll/character and seeing oh I was going for x vibe and now that I'm redoing it (and with better techniques/tools/practice kind of) it's going so much better than it did before

#twist rambles #like. why did i want to do full acrylic on the lips 😭 it does NOT look like real lip texture i promise #this is mostly thanks to a VERY helpful bjd forum member who was very patient with me but i feel that even tho I've taken over 6 months off #doing faceups this one is better than the one i tried to do last on her. weirdly parallel to the first faceup i did on cordy tbh bc that was #after YEARS of not practicing or doing it but doing more art related stuff. and it turned out very well for the time i was doing it #and thats how this is going. i think doing digital art has helped a lot weirdly like I'm working in more subtle layers and building it up #which works better for well. guy w insanely shaky hands disease (esp rn. ive been up nearly 24 hrs). so im glad its going well so far :)#hope that will continue bc i rly am happy w it thus far. rn just waiting for like 5 min until the sealant is dry and then... more eyebrow #work :/ <- hates doing the eyebrows. would love to never ever ever have to do eyebrows again okay.
