Shang tsung isn't evil but a product of corruption and the environment that surrounds him. He's not evil in the sense of black n white thinking of morality. Especially from a western,psuedo Christian American perspective that so many people wanna shoehorn him into. (No shade here but im calling it like i see it nrs)
How is he evil when everyone in mortal kombat kills?
Also shao kahn quan chi and shinnok has arguably done worse
And even more so he's worked more with them,and under them(shao Kahn namely) and had no choice but to follow orders. Namely some things sure were aligned in benefit. But truly can you really argue that it was all his doing? No to say so is ignorant and undermining the other villains and antagonists of the series and their own contributions to the story narrative in opposition of protags and other characters.
The most evil is those who hide behind self righteousness and say they are for peace when they are being manipulated by promises of a better realm or timeline(cough fire god liu kang. COUGH)
Like nah guys mk12/mk1 don't make sense even for the narrative they are trying to pull. Shang is wonderful but yall missed the point even tho the storymode sucks and everything about it makes me nauseous, shang tsung shines thru because of what he represents. In mortal kombats chaotic and cruel world. You kill or be killed. You do what it takes to survive. Or be food for the gods. As you are nothing but entertainment for them.
Everyone kills in mortal kombat. So shang tsung killing means fucking nothing and is a moot point. He does it,everyone does it,how is he truly any different than anyone at that point. Thru mortal kombat,a supposedly Divine system,he's doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing. And what his character is designed to do. Period. So killing,moot point and argument.
Im not talking about. MK12/MK1 specifically. Tho that grinds my gears for many other reasons. Im talking shang tsung,overall as a whole as a character thru the 30+yrs the games and mk has been around. These are common arguments for that shang is "tHe EVil OnE" when there's no such thing in mks world. Truly. It's posturing and posing flowery words at that point. Period.
Stealing souls? He has to,to survive. He is cursed by the very gods and mentors that once swore to protect him. But did nothing.
Climbing for power? He does so because he wishes not to rule over. But so he doesn't have to worry about going to bed hungry,to suffer. He wants stability,comfort,and most of all security. A thing that long ago was robbed of him.
See you can't say shit about my man without having many reasons why he's not.
Could he be evil,nasty,and dowright fucking cruel? Oh you bet your ass he could. But does he enjoy it? Not really. He takes no pleasure unless it's out of necessity or you're considered an enemy.
He is no different than a hungry hunter. Trying to find his next meal or the next place of dwelling. Until he finds his true place of being and achieves a stable life.
Like ffs people it's right fucking there fine print and that still,STILL GOES OVER YOUR HEADS!
Like y'all who don't understand nuanced villains WANT him to be stereotypical,y'all want him to be easy to pinpoint. Because that means you dont get to critique your beloved "Heroic" characters. It's kill or be killed. Morality be damned. Shang tsung found that out long ago. Hiding behind morals in a world that could care less than about you. Gods that only see you as food,throw away entertainment,etc.
He may have respect for someone who despite all that crap,has some moral backbone. But isn't blind to the truth,it's survival. Dont be a pushover boot licking lapdog. As long as you don't hide behind your self righteousness and "goody goody" attitude. He'll respect that you have a noble heart. In fact,that may make him actually enjoy your company. But dont be a condescending jackass about your morals. And he'll be fine.
Shang tsung is just playing the game that the world is built upon. The rules,the gods,the empires,have made. And plays them well into his advantage.

My moot @soap-mothership5 asked for my thoughts about Tyler & his fashion sense and I definitely have a couple thoughts on the matter!!!!! 😈😈😈😈 (also sorry some of these get off track and some are more soapshipping things 💀)
•I THINK…. He’d try almost every style at least once. He loves also finding excuses to dress up like if there was a rave he could get into for free he’s dressing to the GODS in rave wear. Same could be said if there was like a goth night at some club somewhere. He takes that kinda shit as a challenge to out do everyone in the fashion department.
•He loves wearing flashy outfits obviously. He doesn’t give a shit what people assume about him and he doesn’t give a shit when people look at him like he’s crazy or whatever. He thinks it’s funny when he gets judgemental stares from people and might even try to put on more of a show because of it (stretching so his shirt goes up more, tugging his pants down a little bit more). He also thinks it’s sweet when people compliment his fashion sense.
• Hes way too good at thrifting. Like you would never expect to be able to find half the shit he does find when he goes. He’ll come home & have a huge pair of platform boots under his arm that he got from a thrift store. The narrator is confused out of his mind because those look expensive but somehow.. Tyler just found them. Tyler has amazing thrifting luck.
•He doesn’t stick to just the men side when it comes to clothes shopping. He will look everywhere for anything. (Unrelated but someone’s probably asked him if the see thru nightgown he’s buying is for a girlfriend and he’s just like, “nah. It’s for my boyfriend.”)
•PERSONALLY I THINK HED SERVE SOOOOOO MUCH IN GRUNGE FAIRY FASHION

•If he wasn’t sooooo against this and that and didn’t wanna do project mayhem stuff or whatever, I think he would be a really good fashion designer or model. I need a fashion designer tyler au so bad…
•He’s a hypocrite about not people ‘not being the clothes they wear’ smh. He also will take the fact that he reads fashion magazines to the grave. He’s almost gotten caught owning them a couple times but he blamed them being in the house on marla. The narrator never questioned marla about it.
•He gets the narrator clothes. Both for work and just being at home. Surprisingly he does take into account that the narrator doesn’t wanna be as flashy as him or show off that much of his body. He finds the narrator some pieces that he actually really ends up loving. When Tyler brought him home a penguin onesie, the narrator swore up and down he wouldn’t put that on bc he’d make fun of him..he has it on a minute later tho 🙄 he supposes the teasing isn’t that bad (and being called cute definitely helps)
•Tyler gets attached to certain pieces more than others. His favorite things ever are his sunglasses and red jacket. He’ll pretend they don’t mean shit to them but will obviously look really shook up if something happened to them. The narrator keeps it in mind to be gentle with the clothes Tyler seems to like a lot. The motherfucker will even clean his sunglasses for him when he’s missing Tyler and needs something to do :/
•He loves when the narrator wears his shirts to bed or around the house. They are always baggy on him :,)
•HE KEEPS IN MIND THE OUTFITS & PIECES THE NARRATOR SEEMS TO LIKE THE MOST WHEN HE GETS DRESSED UP! he’ll wear the one pair of shorts he has that are just kinda too short just bc he knows the narrator is dying over it. The narrator is gripping the arms of his seat, trying not to pounce on him whenever Tyler throws on something to get a reaction out of him.

guys it was so fucking good i swear.
ok so yeah, warning spoilers n shit. yeah.
ok so i really like the concept of the whole Bill of Life thing, unwinding especially.
like holy smokes was it good.
OK SO IK ITS NOT THE MOST POPULAR NOVEL I DONT THINK SO FOR MY MOOTS WHO R SEEING THIS THIS IS THE GENERAL CONCEPT: since abortions r banned pretty much, ppl either “stork” unwanted children or “unwind” children when they became unwanted. like the story starts off abt three unwinds, being unwound for completely different reasons. Connor was like, a troublesome kid and his parents just didn’t want that so they signed the orders to get him unwound. i missed why Risa was unwound but im pretty sure the state house just didn’t have much room for her anymore(she got storked there i think. she really didn’t grab my attention at the beginning sadly). Lev came from a Christian family, and churches make everyone sacrifice one of their children for God by unwinding them second they turn 13, Lev being one of them(it’s considered an honor)
OK SO the concept of storking is that, the mother delivers a child, doesn’t want it, leaves it at some person’s doorstep and then it’s “finders keepers.” however if they are caught they have to take the kid back and legally obliged to keep it. same with the finders keepers situation, got storked and ain’t no one at ur doorstep? legally obliged to keep it like it or not. however Connor’s parents once got storked and passed it into the neighbors house, and the baby rotated for a week and back to their house, but already sick and dying. Connor then gets traumatized and further on in the book he’s so overridden with the memory that when a bitch got storked she yell at them (Connor abd Risa) to take it back even tho the kid wasn’t theirs.
the concept of unwinding is that legally between 13-18 your guardians can send you to a harvest camp where you’re taken apart and given these parts to those who need it. like for example: you got unwound, taken to a harvest camp, they take your hands and give it to a guy who lost his across the fucking continent. ppl literally stopped trying to cure things, just replaced faulty organs with healthy ones. and no one really knows what’s going on in those harvest camps. do they kill you off immediately or do they wait and wait for weeks on weeks to get to you while you never know when’s your last day.
SO ANYWAY
I really like Connor’s relationship with Hayden, and tbh if they would make them canonically in love i’d be the happiest person on this planet. but again that would cause even further complications w the plot so i get it ig. but at the same time i don’t. Connor never really struck me as a cishet dude even from the beginning of the story, and though him abd Risa r a very good pair i’d just kinda like it more if they paired him up with Hayden. cuz first of all it would add on to tge reason he got unwound in the first place. abd like, i want a gay protagonist in a horror book is that really too much to ask?
same thing with Lev and CyTy, tho i see them more as moirails. yk, homestuck. heheh. no bc they’re so caring for eachother it’s crazy. but again i don’t see them in a romantic relationship, i just rlly like their dynamic. live laugh love how Lev was willing to go through with CyTy’s shit and vice versa.
Hayden and CyTy gotta b my fab characters frfr. anyway so CyTy’s name is actually Cyrus, but he has an eighth of a brain of a kid who got unwound and his name was Tyler. so like, he sometimes does things that Tyler would do but himself won’t, leading them to Tyler’s parents’ house and it actually made me tear up.
ALSO RISA IS AN EMO GINGER. NOT DEBATABLE. I DO NOT CARE IF IT CAN NEVER B CANON, I LIVE FOR EMO GINGER RISA.

Ended up making a ref sheet of Ryan Parker, 'cause why the hell not.
Some extra lil' notes below the keep reading line if any of y'all are interested to read it :]
First of all, before I could get far with the base ref sheet, I remembered that Ryan have (or had) tattoos when I watched him. However, I don't remember how they looked like, at all orz
So I put up a poll on my twitter (since most of my old GTA RP moots are there) and asked if I should make up some tattoos for him, make up a lot of tattoos for him, or not give him any tattoos at all. The first of the three won, and thus I read a bit about different meanings behind tattoos and went with:
The Sun - To symbolize that the sun will always rise after a dark night (also, I'm pretty sure I remember someone calling him the sun/sunlight in peoples' lives when I watched him).
The Infinity Symbol - To symbolize limitless journey and possibilities.
The Butterfly - To symbolize change.
With the tattoos out of the way, let's go over to the outfits.
The OG Fit - Literally what the name entails, this was the original (or at least the most worn) outfit he wore when CurvyElephant (the streamer that plays him) created him. So I didn't change much about it.
PURPLE GUY RACER?! - This twink do be a racer, and since I wanted to check if anything significant had happened to Ryan while I haven't been watching for-- 2 years? 3 years?... I decided to check his wiki and noticed he was part of a racing group called Vendetta. When I saw his racer outfit tho', I knew I just had to change it up a bit. Give him a hoodie, add purple onto his nails and the tip of his hair, get some purple pants, and some earrings that look like the Vendetta logo :]
Time for Business - This isn't too far from how his (usual) business outfit looks like, it's just missing the leopard jacket that matches with his pants. The only thing I really added was the... *looks at the name of the clothing item* cummerbund. Yup 👍
Girls' Night - This one I mostly made up, but he did like wearing Zebra-patterned pants at times (tho' it had black stripes instead of a sorta peach-colored strips). It isn't too far from how he would dress sometimes tho'.
Out and About - Another outfit that I mostly made up, except for the hoodie, which I still love 'til this day. Where the fuck can I get a Squash hoodie irl.
Uh Oh - Lastly, we got an outfit that Ryan only wore when there was some sort of war or conflict happening against the Lost MC (which he was an old lady [significant other] of one of the members of the MC). Just wanted to add the outfit in 'cause watching those streams live was still one of the most tense things I have watched ever :)

Remarried Empress: @d10nsaint (know, yes I know this manhwa is quite overrated, but the art-design is very aesthetic and eye-pleasing and the characters are quite well developed as compared to other manhwas and the villainess is absolutely kissable like you <;3)
Beware of the Villainess: @rouecentric (I absolutely loves this manhwa and I still do! It's my second most comforting manhwa. The characters are quite well developed and the art style is very comforting and the memes are top-tier. Also you have an absolutely kissable and huggable, wolf, softy male lead!! I love HIM and YOU!!!!)
The Villainess Is A Marionette: @dxmoness (A beautiful art-style, just like you! Also you have a bunch of beautiful characters, whom are all horrible, but at-least they're pretty? Also the main characters are amazing and gorgeous, but more than you, but still very beautiful!)
Death Is the Only Ending For the Villainess: @imbouttasue (Another one which has a good art-style, with an amazing strong female lead and horrible male leads....It's okay cause the beauty of the female lead and other female character makes us forget the shitty brothers and father, also the plot is god-tier and goddamn amazing!!!! With a hot, blood-thirsty, little-meow meow, crown prince!!!!)
The Villainess reverses the hourglass: @fuoon (A strong Female lead and another one with horrible family issues, but the female lead's parents are absolutely simpable....They total milf and dilf materials...sadly....Also the villainess was thrown the wrong way about commoners by her dumbass maid...amazing art-style, strong female leads, puppy male leads)
Siren's Lament: @honestly-oceanie (An amazing story about heart-break, sirens and water...-3-..I love water....<3 Also the story includes some of the cutest characters and an amazing plot about a girl, her crush and a siren friend who shares his siren curse with her and whom helps her find a way out for both of them! My no. 3 comfort manhwa)
Who made me a princess: @yonokomizuka @myearts-uwu (Both of them are my older moots, from the Rashta/Jennette lover, Rashta X Navier and Jennette X self-love times...Good times, but this manhwa was the first every manhwa I ever encountered...It has a good a good art-style, with amazing women in it!!! Diana, Jennette, Penelope, Lily, and Myra!!!! All are amazing and this manhwa describes these two the best, for half-their content is this manhwa only and the 'who made me a princess' tag is only surviving thanks to these two! Love you!)
I became the Hero's Rival: @mayuisyuki (Mayu, me dear summer child. Though we don't talk often, your comedy is top-tier, also I have a feeling you freeze when you get into contact with the opposite sex...No matter, how hot they are....Also your sweetness might pull in a hot pair of siblings, yet also jealous competition...Love you tho<3)
Father, I don't want this marriage: @meenasmagic (A beautiful ass, female lead with a hot ass father and male lead...The art work does confuse me from time to time, but it's amazing! The female lead's father does love her but he hides it so nothing happens to her, and he regrets it and after the time has been reset, the father and the daughter are both out to make things right!!!...Wrong explanation, I know!)
Miss-not-so-sidekick: @parad0xang3l (my No. 1 comfort manhwa. An amazing female lead, who knows her way around using memes and acting, her hot mage husband and a hot knight and one prince, with an obnoxious female lead who thinks she's all that...Yes I enjoy such female leads, especially when they lose everything and also, Yoko is my comfort teddy.)
Your throne: @dion-s-lawyer (A powerful female lead with her Lesbian friend and annoying and possessed prince fiancée...I love this manhwa, but it's quite complex for my dumb little mind...But the power of Lesbians in this really overpowers everything, her brother is hot as well and so is her childhood friend...)
The marronnier farm near the imperial palace: @sidra-29 (An adorable manhwa, fit for our baby Sidra. The female leads owns a farm right in the imperial palace and wins over everyone's heart with her amazing cooking skills and though she has jealous fans, she gets past those as well!!! I love this manhwa, but it's not complete...:(((( ...)
The way to protect the female lead's older brother: @that-one-pretty-bitch (She's deadly, beautiful and amazing...What else does Oliara need in her life? Oh right! A beautiful yet shitty family and an equally handsome and gorgeous husband!!! Also an obsession with blood and beauty!! Can probably seduce everyone, the art-style of this manhwa ais just as deadly, cause once you start reading this, you can't stop...)

The story if of a girl with her twin brother, who's stuck inside a lab which does illegal experiments on kids and so it's upto her and other kids whom she ahs never met before to escape this place, into a place, while they train to be amazing assassin by the girl's father figure and family figures!!! Not good at explaining, but still love it!)
Tsundere delinquent Bully: @ramblehour (not a manhwa, but deserves a special mention for staying in my mind 24/7 and stop me from thinking of anything else..I'm not lying I constantly have thoughts of this and at-least I have someone who shares this same obsession with me!!! Love you Moki!!)
The first night with the duke: @honeyandbiscuitandtea-cafe (Love this manhwa, it has enough amount of angst and enough amount of action for me!! This is the type of manhwa, which you don't get bored of reading because it has some good scene and it has a calm setting, not to actiony, not to angsty, not too funny, just enough of all the good things!!! Love this manhwa!)
Limited time extra: @meow-meow-potato (the moment I saw the art-style I fell in love, the story does include a horrible family, but it also includes the power of art and talent, also a cute love-story between the female lead and her fiancée! Also a bit of heart-break, but I love this!!!)
