i guess i have such a morbid fascination with israel, china’s hanfu movement, and the religion of shinto because through some ethnonationalist impulse they’ve each tried to reach centuries if not millennia back in time in an effort to restore a perceived ethnic cultural purity

Saegenfolk Reworks -- How I'm thinking about my pastel-goth Chinese-Viking fusion culture
Tumblr media
Okay, so, as some of you may know, I am working on updating my Saegen culture to have more elements of my birth culture -- cuz, I legit don't know enough about it so this is a great way to learn and then like... mind-palace it into my worldbuilding (yes, I just verbed "mind-palace"). And guess what? I just finished my first sketches of a rework of the whole culture!!! <3 <3 <3 I'm REALLY pleased, it's really reasonating with me now in a way Saegen culture NEVER was <3
So, let's go over what some of the different stuff is -- Top to bottom, left to right... And I AM open to feedback and thoughts and, in fact, I encourage it <3 I consent to advice!
First thing to notice is the Saegen now have a color scheme that isn't jewel-toned red and gold… because the SVANHIK people are red and gold. I experimented with Green and Teal for the Northern lights -- but Green felt really weird. It made them too elfy. And Teal is already Telethens' color. Nouveau Thuille is purple/navy blue/black… So instead of making the red more jewel-toned, I took it towards Cyberpunk Neon/Barbie pink. Why? This is Asarlai's color in their culture now. Asarlai is the father of humanity and god of magic (up North) So wearing pink is super fatherly, magical, and clever. We still have black because black plants just work good in these near-underground settings -- absorbing waaay more light. So now the Saegen aesthetic is now like… pastel-goth Chinese-Vikings.
Next, we have the FASHION! The fashion is very very specifically stolen from the silhouette of Hanfu, just with more fur and different materials. I imagine it being Rumateur wool, but also leather and dyed animal skins and maybe bamboo silks and so forth. We still have elaborate braids and wavy hair, but in my mind, their eyes are all like the Sakha people or something. They still use their hands to paint their faces -- typically for sunscreening/snow-glare/sea-glare reduction reasons as well as receiving Asarlai's blessing. And while Thuilleans prefer silver metals, they prefer gold. This is just a contrast thing.
Next next: Houses! They mostly build out of these silvery bamboo stalks that grow under the Upper Continent. I really like these tent-like silhouettes to their houses -- with littler tents stacked atop each other. They also have igloo-like, bulb-shaped homes for temp shelters! Their ships are like dragons with their wings and blade-armored fronts (mostly for ice, but also fighting). And some even ride small whale-landsharks with sealskin saddles ❤️
Weapons and tools wise: They're really well known for their Ysse lanterns (I mean, EVERYONE IS but for different reasons). Theirs are all a really pretty pink -- the "purest form of Ysse light" (Not really.) -- and have the teardrop bulb shape. But they look like these warm, nutrient restoring fungi that naturally grow (or probably a god put them there) in Saegenheim. They also have guns (which have magic bulbs that, when struck, blast out fire. So really, they're flamethrowers but I don't like the way that sounds lol). They also use these Tang-dynasty-inspired swords and poleaxes pretty commonly.
Animal and creature wise: Their rumateurs are much bigger and bulkier -- more cattle-like thanks to the flatter plains around Saegenheim -- than the more lithe, leapy rumateurs of the Nouveau Thuillean valley. They also keep artic bunnies (even though the're considered mild pests in Nouveau Thuille) as easy food and sometimes even hunt seals. However, they have to be super careful not to murder their selkie brethren -- it is generally wiser not-to hunt seals because they might be a selkie -- and instead just ask seals for their molted skins (which they molt in one, thick slough once a year) or milk to make cheese or kumis. Not-shown: They also heavily rely on Butterflies of the Heart for Honey, Wax, and Mead --because despite their name, they're actually bees.
Above the Saegenheim cave are these enclosed plains of black bamboo forests. A currently unnamed but critically important fungus grows in tandem with the bamboo and is part of the bamboo's natural life cycle. I'm not entirely sure, but maybe something like the bamboo grows up and starts putting out leaves to photosynthesize, to pump back into the ground. The fungus feeds on the bamboo but then helps it spread further and also, gives the bamboo nutrients back in the winter. And eventually, the fungus eats the dead stalks WHILE fixing the soil for the new growth?
Regardless, the Saegen people eat this fungus as one of their staple foods.
They also eat a ground-fungus that the rumateurs and bunnies eat up here that grows small and under the frost but VERY PERSISTENTLY, much to everyone's surprise (it's the 5" one). It also works with the bamboo and tree fungus to make this really weirdly balanced flow of nutrients in and out of the soil with the seasons.
The ground fungus is usually dried, ground up, and then used for soups or baked goods (like flat breads or meat loafs.) Meanwhile, the tree fungus is usually eaten without grining but still boiled/fried/baked OR dried and ground up and brewed to make coffee. ((This is where the Northerners get their coffee -- the coffee is a lie, they are perpetually drinking an American Civil War Confederate coffee substitute XDDDDD But at least their coffee usually has good protein, micronutrients, and caffeine-like substances, unlike real Civil War coffee substitute LOL))
So Saegenheim is now in the Womb of the World, (the environment sketch) taller and this tree-like fungus grows that is also edible and can act as a meat-substitute nutrient-wise BUT it grows much slower, so it is carefully monitored by the Sages so they don't fuck it up.
Speaking of the Womb of the World -- this warm, damp refuge in the otherwise hostile, VERY NORTHERN part of the tundra is a cave warmed by the specific way the permanent Ysse Springs interact with the stones here -- warming the cave to very liveable temperatures year round. The Sages of Saegenheim have built their home here to honor the Gods who brought forth all of humanity. However, most Saegenfolk do not live here year round -- they are semi-nomadic, in that they go to the same few places and settle for the season. Different royal families will lead their people to different places, but those who can afford it will return to winter in the safe, reliable Saegenheim to catch up on news and celebrate Godsweek. They hang new pink lanterns in the streets at the beginning of every new year.
And lastly, when they aren't in Saegenheim, the Saegenfolk are often sailing. And this means they are hunting whale-landsharks, sea serpents, shrimp, and artic carp (articarp, if you will XD).
Now this closeness of location and similarity of lifestyle and respect of the Sages and Gods may lead you to believe that the Saegens are cooperative, extended-family-oriented folks.
No.
Due to the harshness of the environment, a great deal of emphasis is placed on survivability and military. And when everyone is seeking to be better, then you cannot rest for even a moment or you will fall behind. If you are not young enough to be trying to get stronger/cleverer/better/more useful, then you better be teaching others to get there or you're useless. And useless things are to be cast off…
Every family has its own sort of military hazing rituals that involve ridiculously long, cruel, and unnecessary training hours. Admittedly, it's a well-rounded education but there are all these weirdly specific judgements about you, depending on what kind of instruments, weapons, poetry, and cooking recipes you know. And even though your extended family will provide you food and teach you and find your more private tutors as you grow up… you will be constantly compared to your cousins. If you are worse than even one, you are pressed like you are worthless. If you are better than all your cousins and siblings by 200%… why is it not 250%? 300%? You cannot ever be Enough in Saegen culture.
Unless you're a Sage. Sages are judged by entirely different standard. But the number of people who try to become Sages and fail is also… quite large.
Anyway, this might've been poorly organized AND I'm still thinking about all this so if you have thoughts or feedback, let me know ❤️

Their Mother 2
The mother of the Eldritch terrors wants to retireve them from the Spellmans clutches.
This is for @liliyhsblog who asked me for a part 2. I hope its as satisfying as part 1.
Warnings: Bloodshed, battles, tentacles, genocide, decapitation, murder, end of the world
Tumblr media
~Previously~
“How stupid of you, to bring your only bargaining chip to the battlefield. One thing you seemed to have forgotten about Pandora’s box, is that it released all the plagues on the Earth.” Saying this, she opened the box, letting her children out once again, to destroy the Earth and consume it.
~
Watching the chaos unfold, the mother smiled with glee.
First from the box emerged darkness, her eldest daughter stood in all her shadowy glory. Her form was smokey, as if her powers could not decide on a final form. With hollowed out eyes and tiny obsidians embedded in her forehead, the eldest eldritch terror stood proud and tall. Glancing at her mother, she smiled till cracks appeared in her face. She turned towards the witches, quickly losing her smile.
Next came her son, the uninvited. He emerged from the box, disheveled with his untidy clothes and tangled hair. The mother tsked before waving her hand, immediately her son’s hair was returned to its former midnight glory, his hair was neatly braided like the Vikings of old. His sickle was sharpened and gleamed in the light while his clothes changed from tattered rags to armor, black leather armor that seemed easily penetrable yet worked as an impenetrable shield.
Glancing down at himself he smiled widely, giddy at his new attire. He smiled up at his mother, like he used to when he was still young. He nodded his head in gratitude and moved to embrace her but she stopped him. Reunions could wait for they were still in serious danger from the coven before them.
After him came her third son, the weird. They slithered out of the box, an octopus-like mass crawled to the mother then climbed up her body, perching itself on her shoulder.
Grinning widely at the Weird’s presence she gently ran her fingers over their head, restoring them to their original form. Feeling the familiar power running through their body the weird morphed into their original form which they had lost millennia ago. On first glance they looked deceptively human, an androgynous human yet on closer glance one would notice their hands shifted from tentacles to fingers and back. On their tongue were suckers, meant to pull in their victims.
Cracking their neck unnaturally the weird glared fiercely at the coven before putting on a menacingly charming smile. His pearly teeth and insidious expression made the Spellmans’ almost wretch.
After the weird, the imp of the perverse emerged. Cradling her child’s golden statue, the mother was enraged. What had the mortals done to her child? How could they turn him into a mere trinket to use as they wished? Sighing in anger she whispered, “Awaken,” the moment the word left her lips the imp started moving, as if it were waking up after a long slumber. Ruby eyes stared at the mother before a sharp grin formed on the little creature’s face. Slowly the imp unveiled its tiny wings and perched itself on the mother’s shoulder, caressing the large golden globe in its hands with its tongue, tempted to pervert reality in accordance with its will.
Next came the cosmic. The being was an intimate part of the cosmos, the unattainable and uncontainable force took a mortal visage. The cosmos was a pale, lean man dressed in a hanfu woven from the very fabric of the universe itself with spinning galaxies and nebulas almost alive on the fabric. His long black tresses trailed down his back. He was the picture of tranquility yet within his mind, chaos reigned.
The returned took the form of a corpse, mostly well-preserved but rotting in a few places. She was deathly beautiful yet she moved unnaturally, as if she was a mere puppet for a puppeteer. She was dressed like a bride, lace covered her arms and a veil covered her hair yet her dress was stained with blood and dirt, as if she recently crawled out of a grave.
The twin of the void emerged next. He was a tall man in a black suit and a hat. Mysterious and strange the man looked like a regular human with his black gloves yet he was anything but. He was created to be the yang to her yin. He was supposed to satiate her hunger, the one in charge of caring for her yet after millennia away from her he was remiss in his duties, leading to her growing impoverished. He was and is, the endless.
Lastly the void emerged. The void took the form of a gaunt little girl in a white dress with frayed hair, a far cry from the terrifying terror she used to be. Hunched over, she gripped her stomach as her hollow eyes stared at the Spellman coven. Licking her lips with her black tongue she stared at her potential meal, prepared to temporarily satiate her hunger with the young coven when her mother stopped her.
The mother looked at her children, disappointed in their current state. She tsked before giving them a little of her power to sustain themselves. Her once powerful creations were reduced to their impoverished states by the measly coven before them. Yet she knew not even their patron goddess Hecate would be able to defend the coven if she chose to intervene.
The coven, however were unwilling to submit to the intimidating terrors and had instead called upon their allies. Heaven, Hell and everything in between. Demons, ghouls and other creatures of all kinds accompanied the Spellmans in a quest for the survival of their universe. Seeing the eldritch terrors out of Panadora’s box Hilda stepped forward saying, “Well, now that you have your ‘children’ back why don’t you leave us alone?”
Chuckling darkly she answered, “Because I want to see your bodies scattered on this field in pieces, I want to feel your metallic blood flowing down my throat as I claim the debt owed to me.”
“What debt?”
“Your lives.”
As soon as the words fell from her lips the battle commenced. The witches fought well, reciting spells and moving elegantly against the attacks of the terrors yet it was not enough. Many witches fell, many were ripped apart and others ran in an tempt to save themselves yet it was all for naught.
The once green grass was a sticky amber, decorated with various body parts. The last of the Spellmans, Hilda and Zelda stood at the center of the field, looking at their surroundings with anguish, their coven was obliterated, the angels and demons torn to shreds. The head of their beloved niece was in the hands of the mother as she grinned maniacally at the pair.
“So much hassle for a little half-born, and yet, she died so easily. I’m disappointed,” she said with mock disappointment before tossing the blonde head at the pair.
Hilda shuddered as she fell to her knees, her grief consuming her as Zelda stood her ground, willing her tears away.
“Now, for a special punishment for you, you shall see your world get destroyed before you, too are consumed,” saying this, the pair were frozen in their places as the mother motioned for her children to finish what they had started.
First came the darkness and her everlasting cold, no one could escape their sins, their guilt, her torment.
Second came the uninvited, he ripped through the populace, feasting on their unwelcoming hearts as his powers grew.
Third came the weird, succumbing the Earth in water, crushing humanity’s cities and submerging them with the creatures of the depths that laid in wait for centuries.
Fourth came the Imp, he corrupted reality, twisting the very foundations of nature akin to a child playing with playdough. His creations were maddening, confusing, chaotic, refusing to settle. The very foundations of reality were cracking, crumbling as he continued.
Fifth came the Cosmic, he brought together the three realms, Heaven, Hell and Earth, they crashed in a symphony of pained screams that echoed through the vastness till everything went silent.
Sixth came the Returned, the dead arose to bear witness to the end, the deceased tormented those who remained, those who fought, those who had hope.
Seventh came the Endless, he brought with him an endless cycle of torment for the mortals, a cycle of eternity only breakable by one. He imbued his powers into the chaotic Earth, creating an unending paradox.
Eight came the Void, the last, the end of all things, she consumed the chaotic, fractured reality with much glee. Finally, she was satiated for the first time in millennia.
In the seven days it took the Christian God to create the world, it took eight days to destroy his creations, the very foundations of his fragile reality were shattered by the Eldritch terrors, it was almost poetic.
After her thirst for revenge was satiated, the Mother took her children with her, into a different dimension in order to grow their own powers once more so that they’d never be as weak as they were, ever again.
Under their mother, the terrors flourished, their powers of destruction grew equal to the Element’s powers of creation. The Universe was now more balanced than it had been in centuries.

Lian and the Capitalist Fuckboy AU 1/?
1. 2. 3.
Rokkon Spoilers Adjacent
AKA. No Traumatic Backstory AU!
Context: Lian’s parents were together against the wishes of their own parents. They very much wanted to be married, but both of their families were influential and extremely against it. There wasn’t a great reason against the match, but once Lian’s parents started rebelling, both families doubled down.
Unfortunately, this only drove her parents to be more certain. In the end, they intentionally got pregnant to force the issue. This resulted in Lian. Lian’s grandparents had fraught relationships wit her parents for years.
By the time her first younger brother was born, Lian’s parents had been brought back into the fold and restored to their positions as their families’ respective heirs and her brother (and successive siblings) were given names with the generational character (Ming) like their cousins. Lian’s name, however, was not changed at this point. She was left without it because she was her parents darling, cherished, first child and her grandparents didn’t want their displeasure to be forgotten.
(this didn’t stop her grandparents from doting on her, but the undercurrents were there, you know)
The divergence comes when Lian is ~22. In most universes, she catches the Blue Tongue Flu, brings it back to her city and disaster, but in this one she simply didn’t contract the illness from her hyur contact.
Starting around age 18, Lian met with her parents’ contacts on the surface and learned business first hand. It didn’t take long for her parents to realize she could understand all of the foreign languages perfectly. When presented to the community elders and when combined with her gift for magic, they declared her Blessed by the Moonlight (what they called the Blessing of Light).
She was then pulled between expanding her skills as a merchant and expanding the family business now that they wouldn’t have to deal with communication issues and the Elders’ insistence that she focus solely on her magic to one day take on a position as one of their own.
After the trouble caused by her parents’ marriage, Lian has come firmly down on the side of filial piety so she only practices as much magic as her grandparents instruct and devote the rest of her time to their businesses.
By the time the Seventh Calamity strikes the world, Lian’s family business has an official office in Kugane where their long-term partners are equal parts disgruntled (to have their business shared among others) and pleased (more and better goods). While Lian is the primary figure at the Kugane office (thanks to the Echo), her erdi Mingyun and sidi Minghong are functionally fluent in Hingan and often take shifts on the surface.
One year after the Calamity, there’s a huge scuffle on one of the piers in Kugane. While Lian usually stays out of such things, she felt a surge of highly attuned aether and went running. She quickly boarded one of the Kraken’s Arms’ ships and saved captain and crew from a nasty Ananta relic that they’d bought from a shady contact of their own.
Carvallain was encouraged by his local friends to acknowledge a life debt to Lian and they made an agreement that Lian, as a master mage, would look over relics the Kraken’s Arms brought into port, sorting them into Dangerous, Just Enchanted, and Actually Worthless It Just Sparkles along with first crack at purchasing any she wanted.
With her elaborate hanfu, xizhang and bright disposition new arrivals to Kugane don’t recognize her as a merchant at all. It’s like this that she first meets Hancock in the small museum open to foreigners. She clocks him immediately as a merchant, but approaches as a friendly fellow-foreigner. She listens attentively as he explains what he knows of the pieces, what is commonly known in Eorzea about such things and his thoughts based on the academic writings he’s come across. In turn, Lian details her own people’s perspective and thoughts on the Hingan art and goes into depth about the painted screen donated by her great-grandparents and still on display.
The next time they meet, Hancock is eating in the market, a variety of local foods spread out on the table in front of him. He’s still making his way through trying everything. Hancock compliments Lian on her Eorzean and she explains she has a gift that lets her communicate with people in any language and she doesn’t quite control it. If someone speaks to her in Hingan, she will respond in Hingan, but she won’t know what language she’s speaking in, only that it’s not her own, so while she suspected they had been speaking in Eorzean she had no way of being sure.
Hancock, of course, has read mentions of the Echo before and explains what the Eorzeans think about the gift, as much as he knows, at least. At this point, he is certain that she is an adventurer, dressing nice both to impress future clients and to show off her successes.
It later, when he’s trying to make a deal with a Hingan merchant, that Lian arrives for a meeting with that self-same merchant, still immaculately put together, but this time trailed by visible servants and a made-up assistant. Hancock is quickly ushered out, so quick he hasn’t even settled on his reaction.
In the end, he’s charmed that he’s been fooled. He’s observant and well-trained from Ul’dah, but this is far from the first example of him not accounting for the massive cultural differences. He makes an appointment with her offices to see her, but when they meet in a business context, Lian is all sharp politeness and refusals to make any deals with the East Aldenard Company. Her people have no interest in his goods and have several very good export contracts already.
He good-naturedly teases her about how differently she acts in a professional setting and they are somewhat friends.
While Hancock does ask her for advice on dealing with Hingans, she is bolstered by generations of contracts and a culture much more closely related to Hingan. They keep the relationship purely social, though Hancock will occasionally ‘shoot his shot’ at a business deal, it is mostly for a joke.
Lian takes to cooking for him because she’s a consummate older sister and, if she’s being honest, more than a little lonely being separated from her large family. She knows it’s for the best, given the Echo and the competitive advantage it gives her, but she is still a stranger in a strange land, even if her home is much closer than his.
Eventually, Hancock makes a romantic overture, and Lian doesn’t react immediately. She’s pleased, she’s concerned, she’s confused, it’s a lot. No one’s been romantically interested, that she knows about, and this is... not how it’s done back home. There’s a process. Rituals. All of both families are involved and it’s more-or-less only pursued as a precursor to marriage.
But... She has been in Kugane for several years. She is friendly with Carvallain, she is aware that the rest of the world does not do things in the same way. Shyly, she explains the broad strokes of that to Hancock, who is nothing but polite about it. He doesn’t want to make her uncomfortable or push against cultural boundaries. Despite how ruthless he is in the business world, Lian does believe him based on their interactions up to this point.
She tells him she’ll think about it.
Her eventual conclusion is that what her grandparents don’t know won’t hurt them and while Hancock isn’t personally going to gain her any leverage via a relationship, exploring how other people court can’t really hurt, right?

I'm gonna deliver a Plagg and Tikki infodump for my rewrite of miraculous, Miracle Box which can be found on AO3 or Wattpad. You don't have to read this if you don't want.
Plagg and Tikki are the only two kwamis of the inner ring within the Chinese Miracle box. The inner ring is the most powerful ring, as it's kwami's can give their users three different powers/abilities. Plagg and Tikki, just like in the show, are designed to balance one another out. Whatever one of them can do, the other can do the opposite. All the kwamis were created at the same time, however, Plagg and Tikki were the first to be used and have since been the reason why black cats are associated with bad luck and ladybugs with good fortune.
Starting with Tikki: Tikki is the kwamis of creation and presents female (all kwamis do not have a biological sex and can choose a gender that best fits them). She wears a dress inspired by her favorite dynasty, the Wei and Jin dynasty (a time period in which she had the best experience with a wielder and associates the type of clothes with happiness). She can grant her wielder three individual powers, and thus, those transformed with the Ladybug miraculous have a Lucky Charm (ability to create a random object of best use for a specific situation), the miraculous ladybugs (power over restoration) and can bless themselves and those around them with good luck. Tikki has these powers herself, though they are much more powerful than what the wielder gets to have, which often has a bad consequence (such as objects becoming sentient). She's much more stern and serious than she is in canon. She'll act more harshly on Marinette for her mistakes, though tries to make them into learning experiences. She's not one to try and have fun, though once you get her to enjoy something, she becomes much more pleasant to be around. She cares deeply about the well being of her wielders, and learns from her mistakes. She will not allow herself to make the same mistake twice, and beats herself up over it if ever it should happen.
Fun fact: Tikki is one of the only kwamis willing to show herself in public.
Now for Plagg: Plagg is the kwami of destruction and presents as male and wears a hanfu that doesn't come from any one specific dynasty, as he never got to leave the guardians sanctuaries over the years after a horrible mistake he made hundreds of years ago which caused the deaths of thousands. He can grant his user three individual powers; the cataclysm (destruction), ruination (mass destruction in the form of a blast) and bad luck, working similar to the power of the ladybug does with good luck. Like Tikki, he has these powers himself, though they are significantly more powerful. Just like in canon, Plag is a goofball. He's obnoxious, and rude, and has not much regard for the concerns or worries of others. He's often selfish and disrespectful. Unlike Tikki, he's all about having fun. He doesn't understand technology that well but by the grace of Thanos he will still try and master using it. He doesn't show much sympathy for people, and only ever generally gets excited for things involving himself. He doesn't believe in consequences for his actions, and often will encourage Adrien to bend the rules for the sake of rebellion and/or fun.
Fun fact: Plagg is one of six kwamis that don't have human ears, and one of four that have a tail.

telling your acolytes about the best boy ever!
Tumblr media
a/n: this is for my boy bennett <33 according to the most recent spiral abyss data, bennett is the most used male character in the abyss!! so imagine sagau and everyone worshipping you as usual, however this time, you directly tell teyvat who is the most favored character is. slight crack fic, the wanderer is kinda your assistance. fluff, slight angst in the beginning
all of teyvat stood around the gates of your castle nervously, awaiting whatever you had to tell them. the archons stood front and foremost along with their respective nation’s leaders, anxious and eager to please all of your requests.
you had called upon them urgently the day before, almost giving your poor archons a heart attack (zhongli). this was the very first time you had directly called upon everyone in teyvat ever since claiming back your rightful throne from the impostor. with no further details from your call, the archons and leaders were quick to begin preparing luxurious gifts and riches to greet you with, hoping that you’d finally speak to them personally.
during previous archon meetings, you had avoided speaking directly to them, mostly whispering to buer and the wanderer, your closest acolytes, to relay information. this had rooted each archon in jealously towards buer. what did buer and that random wanderer have that they were they able to directly hear your sweet voice?! the jealously only slightly subdued once yae miko bitterly explained that buer and the wanderer were the only ones who knew the true creator was you during the impostor decree.
they saved your life, they kept you save, and helped you defeat the true impostor. of course they were deserving of your voice and loving words.
the jealously was still felt towards buer whenever she lent her ear towards you, smiling with content as the wanderer stood giving each archon a smug smile.
so imagine their surprise when you announced to the world directly with your voice that you wanted all of teyvat at your gates a day later to announce an important event. chaos almost ensued as everyone rushed to prepare your gifts.
barbatos and jean stood side-by-side nervously, with a beautifully crafted lyre held in barbatos’ hands and a golden ring adored with a precious amethyst, the purple gem shining brightly in the sunlight of the red dawn. jean had proposed giving an amethyst ring since it was february, the month of love. barbatos suggested the matching lyres with you, it was crafted from only the finest wood and painted with detailed care. he held the lyre closer, hoping to play alongside you one day.
next to the archon of freedoom stood morax and ningguang. morax had managed to obtain an ancient necklace from guizhong’s former abode, rich with several precious gems that put even ningguang’s wealth to shame. ningguang had paid in full for the necklace to be restored to its former glory, as it was dirty from its time in the grounds. ningguang noticed morax’s tensed shoulders and smiled, trying to calm her own nerves down. in her own gloved hands, she held a customized hanfu, fit to your size and favorite color, adored with accessories that she thought would look great with it.
standing tall on feet next to them was beelzebub and kamisato ayato. beelzebub had switched with the puppet earlier, as she didn’t want to miss out the potential of you finally speaking to her. ayato had hesitated upon accompanying the shogun at first, but with the little time available and the kujou clan still being punished, he agreed. in their hands, they held a luxurious kimono. ayaka had the design prepared, with a simple yet elegant pattern adoring the kimono in your favorite color. beelzebub also had a golden bracelet with her electro symbol on it, hoping it’d bring you closer to her. ayato quickly turned around to find his sister and thoma in the crowd, his sister shaking like a leaf as thoma shot him a shaky smile.
next to the inazumans and standing a bit too close to your gates for the archons’ liking was buer and alhaitham. alhaitham held a sari in your favorite color, with silver accessories to go with your outfit. he and kaveh argued for two hours over the design and whether gold or silver should go with your outfit until the wanderer stepped in and demanded that they get working on the sari, saying that silver better went with your outfit. in her hands, buer clutched the bag of henna. she knew that you were closer to her than other archons, and she hoped that you would have time to sit down and have a matching henna tattoo with her.
the archons and leaders looked over at alhaitham, bitterly wondering why they were proposing silver instead of gold. you were the most beloved deity in teyvat and sumeru brought silver?!
standing behind barbatos among the crowd, bennett, fischl, and razor were talking quietly.
“i wonder what your grace called everyone here for! it’s kind of nerve racking.. i hope that me being here won’t cause any issues…” bennett said, sheepishly scratching his cheek.
“oh bennett! i do hope that thou hasnt thought of walking away, it’d be too offensive towards your grace.” fischl shook her head at him, trying to reassure him.
“agree,” razor chimed in, “your grace call everyone for reason.”
bennett looked over at the archons, each standing with pristine glory and luxury.
‘they must be the luckiest people on earth if it means having their grace speak to them.’ he thought with his heart pounding in slight jealously at their luck.
the pearly white gates of your castle opened, and all of teyvat held their breaths. it had been some time since they have last seen you.
unfortunately, that was during your almost-execution in liyue. your hair was a mess, the clothes you wore were ripped and torn, scrapes and bruises all across your body. exhausted, dehydrated, and ready to give in to death were the visible expressions on your face.
now standing before everyone, was the current you.
a blank expression, cleaned up with no visible scars from the decree, robes in the color you adored the most, your hair adored by a hairpiece that a loyal acolyte had sheepishly given you- wait a damn minute.
bennett had given you that hairpiece!
his face turned a rosy color as fischl and razor looked at him, surprised to see you wearing the hairpiece.
they knew that you were their creator once they saw your tears, the tears that were of glittery silver. bennett had made the hairpiece to his best ability in secret as a gift of offering while they hid you from the knights. before he could give it to you, you had fled monstadt for liyue, leaving him saddened that he wasn’t able to give you his offering. he, fischl, and razor were only able to give you the hairpiece in front of buer and the wanderer before an archon meeting held in monstadt, with the wanderer sneering at him in annoyance. however, your soft smile and gratitude was enough to light up bennett’s world before he fell into a ditch on the way home.
now here you were, with the hairpiece in your hair, and the wanderer right behind you, holding the ends of your robes from being dirtied.
“your grace, hold on a moment.” the wanderer said quietly, adjusting the hairpiece that had shifted slightly.
“thank you, wanderer.” you whispered back.
morax looked at the wanderer in jealously, how dare such a commoner got to touch your hair!
barbatos felt a pang of hurt in his chest, while beezlebub felt herself slowly feeling the urge to release lightning. buer gave the wanderer a thumbs up and a smile.
bennett, fischl, and razor were still quietly talking about the hairpiece. how could such an amazing deity such as yourself wear their hairpiece when you had so many other options to choose from?!
“greetings teyvat- oh wow! i wasn’t expecting you guys to show up with gifts..” you began, looking at the archons with their gifts held to you.
“of course we brought you gifts, your royal highness,” morax stated, “it’s only rightful that you are showered in our offerings.”
you did not respond as you nervously looked at everything that was offered to you.
“p-please accept our gifts, your grace! it’s only natural that you do.” barbatos stammered out, internally scolding himself for stuttering.
you hesitantly accepted their offerings, asking the wanderer to stow them away in your wardrobe room for later use.
it was just you, in front of everyone. you took a deep breath before beginning your speech.
“i have something to share with you guys from my time in another world. everyone is aware about their ventures into the spiral abyss from time to time, correct?” you questioned.
the archons and vision holders nodded.
bennett anxiously began to wonder if you were going throw them into the spiral abyss. he was always there for hours and days sometimes! he liked fighting but the spiral abyss terrified him.
“while most of you have ventured into the spiral abyss, there are some of you who have spent time there more than others, and i have reasons for that.”
“it’s not only just me who has sent certain people, but in fact, there are millions of others from my other world who send their favorites there for testing out your strength and endurance.”
murmurs among the crowd began. millions of other people? did you mean that more gods from your world send them there? and certain people were favorites?!
bennett, fischl, and razor looked at each other nervously. usually, fischl and bennett were sent more often into the spiral abyss and came back complaining about how tired they were or how they were really looking forward to eating together after fighting for so long. however, bennett seemed to always come back after a longer time away. he noticed that he would often be paired with that samurai from inazuma, kazuha was his name right?
his thoughts were interrupted by your next couple of sentences.
“i have collected data and some of you have the highest usage ratings among all of teyvat. this proves that you’re more lucky and loved than you think,” you smiled faintly, looking the the direction of where bennett, fischl, and razor stood. bennett’s breath caught in his throat.
barbatos turned around to see who you were giving your sweetest smile to, his slight frown turning into a small smile as he knew already who it was.
“for the women, the most highest usage in the spiral abyss is.. lord kusanali!” you announced like it was a game show.
beelzebub gripped her polearm tightly, jealously flaring up as she noticed the surprised smile on buer’s face. buer?! she was no more than the god of wisdom with barely any fighting experience and somehow she was loved more?!
“almighty shogun, please take a deep breath.” ayato sighed, noticing his archon’s tense form.
“i thank you for it is your love and support that pushes me to do my best in the spiral abyss, your grace.” buer beamed at you.
you gave her a charmed smile and soon turn back to the crowd, the wanderer reappearing to shoot glares at the crowd to be quiet.
“as for the guys, there is one person who is still sought after by many gods and is overall beloved by the entire world.” you stated.
morax held his breath. it has to be him! if the first beloved person is an archon, surely the second has to be a male archon. barbatos chuckled quietly, noticing morax straighten his back.
“this guy has been a massive support to everyone, and it’s only fair for me to acknowledge him properly.” you turned towards the monstadt crowd. the crowd held their breath. was it diluc? kaeya? razor? albedo? barsibatos? or was it-
“bennett, please step forward.” you finally stated.
bennett’s breath caught again in his throat. he felt himself freeze as all of teyvat eyed him with jealously. he felt a nudge from his side and turned to see razor giving him a push.
“go.” razor said with a smile. fischl was grinning from ear to ear.
slowly, bennett walked until he was in front of you. was this truly real? was he that beloved by all the gods in your world? he knew he wasn’t an actual fighter than can do massive damage (unless you built him to be a dps) but he felt that his unluckiness prevented him from being any better than a slime.
you frowned at his hesitance. he really thought kind of low himself didn’t he?
“bennett, there is another reason why i called you in front of me. your bravery in the spiral abyss has healed and supported so many people.”
kazuha shyly stepped forward next to ayato and said, “i can confirm that fact, your grace.”
you smiled in kazuha’s direction, to which kazuha quickly stepped back with a red face to stand next to ayaka and thoma in the crowd, the two snickering at his red face.
you continued, “and while i know your birthday falls on a leap year, i want to commend your efforts in the spiral abyss and celebrate it a day earlier! that way, you’ll always be celebrated every year, it’ll be a reminder that everyone loves you despite what you think of yourself. i want you to remember that. i even wore your hairpiece because you’re one of my favorites.”
bennett felt his heart soar into the sky, where it stayed. a whole day earlier filled with celebration… for him? he couldn’t believe it!
“so what i’m hearing, your grace, is an international holiday for bennett’s birthday?” barbatos directly teased with a grin, relieved that one of his people is the most beloved guy everywhere.
you chuckled, which sent everyone’s hearts ablaze at the cute sound of your laughter. “i guess it could be interpreted that way!”
barbatos felt his own cheeks burn at the direct response you had given him. his first exchange with you! morax is definitely gonna throw rocks at him later.
bennett’s face was so red and he was so overwhelmed with love that… he began crying into your shoulder, catching everyone by surprise.
“HEY! DON’T TOUCH YOUR DIVINE!” the wanderer exclaimed, trying to pry bennett off your shoulders but stopped immediately as you put your hand up.
“it’s alright, i don’t mind.” you said, holding bennett tightly in a hug.
“i’m s-so happy.. t-thank you for your s-support your grace!” bennett exclaimed through his snot-filled cries. fischl and razor began to laugh as they steppes forward to try and calm him down.
“happy birthday bennett, you deserve everything in the world.”
you smiled, and alhaitham cursed himself internally for not bringing a kamera to document such a moment. he was so going to get an earful from kaveh later.
a gentle morning breeze came through the air, and all of teyvat began to assemble for a massive festival for bennett’s birthday. it was february 28.
the rest of the day was filled with many praises and questions for bennett. how he was able to heal, buff, his adorable idle moments, everything. his cheeks hurt from all the playful pinching from the ladies and shoulders burned from the many guys who gave him birthday punches. he usually never really celebrated his birthday besides with fischl, razor, and his dads. the amount of adoring gifts, jealously filled hugs, and delicious treats given to him was entirely unexpected.
the area in liyue harbor was perfect to hold a massive amount of people who celebrated bennett’s birthday. somehow, you have even got some mechanics together to construct a couple of the first ever rollercoaster rides on the docks. this celebration was truly like no other.
it was later at night that bennett finally caught a moment with you alone. he saw you standing on the steps of liyue harbor with kazuha, quietly speaking with each other. bennett shyly tapped your shoulder, and kazuha took it as a signal to depart from you, giving you a bow before leaving to find a hopefully-not-too-drunk beidou.
“hi bennett,” you said with a smile.
“h-hello your grace!” bennett exclaimed.
“what brings you here on this beautiful evening?” you questioned.
“i-i just wanted to thank you again your grace! you really shouldn’t have to go through all this for my birthday and accomplishments in the abyss… n-not that i’m ungrateful or anything! i’m so happy that you even thought of doing this for me and and-“ bennett stammered out.
he took a deep breath and continued, “i just wanted to thank you again. i’ve never really been celebrated like this before, and it’s just so exciting! i’m truly grateful for everything you’ve done for me.” he gave you a shy smile.
you grinned and said, “well get ready to be regularly lavished because you’re going to live with me in the castle.”
“i can’t wait to live with you in the castle- WAIT WHAT?!” bennett almost fainted from how red his face was. fischl and razor, who had been listening in, rushed forward to keep him from falling and began to fan his face.
“happy birthday bennett, thank you for your hard work.” you chuckled and tucked a small bouquet of flowers in his arms. flowers that signified friendship and admiration.
nearby, the archons looked on in jealously sans buer. not once have they had you speak to them. they all silently vowed to be as adored by you as that random boy from mondstadt. time is slow, but they will persist for eternity if they have to if it meant having your love and admiration.
from that day on, bennett swore that his luck was slightly better, and it was all due to your grace.
A/n: HES MY BOY HAPPY BIRTHDAY AGAIN BENNETT <33 Gahh this is so late but ;_; i still wanted to post this for his birthday

【Histoty Note】Warring States Period·Chu (state) Noble Women Fashion
Many people may wonder why this set of clothing and hairstyles are so similar to Japan, but the fact is this kind of clothing and hairstyle existed in China at least 1,000 years earlier than Japan.
During the China Warring States Period, it was popular for aristocratic men and women to wear robes.
Lacquered wood figurines and robe with similar images have been unearthed from the Shayang Tumbun Chu Tombs and the Chu Tombs at Mashan, many of which adopted the "three-dimensional structure" technique.
For example, a roughly rectangular piece is caulked at the intersection of the robe's sides, skirt sides and sleeve armpits. At the same time, the lower edge line of the top and the upper edge line of the lower skirt are incrementally extended, and then sewn into one body. It is called "Ming three-dimensional structure".
Its ingenuity is that while the outer contour of the garment remains unchanged, it effectively expands the inner space of the garment body, making it convenient for people to wrap the garment from the front to the back when wearing it, without damaging the original collar and garment forms.
The attire of aristocratic women from the Chu state in this set was restored based on the lacquered wooden figurines of the Chu tomb in Shayang. Their foreheads and temples hair are fluffy, and they have a hanging bun at the back of their heads. They wear robes that are connected up and down, and are decorated with brocade inlays at the seams.
The wearing method is the "layering method", two robes are stacked together in advance and then worn as a whole. This allows the collar edge of the lining to be show parallel to the collar edge of the outer garment, and a section of the lining to be show behind the lapel. The brocade edge is decorated with a wide belt and fixed with double belt hooks.
This "layered" wearing method shows the layers and details of Chu people's clothing, and can also show the graceful beauty of the body.
In addition, many creative clothing styles and fabric patterns emerged during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, bringing with them the unique atmosphere, mysterious imagination and ultimate romance of that era, becoming our inexhaustible source of art.

Caelum Celestial - the moonlight of the heavens
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ɴᴀᴍᴇ: Caelum 'Cael' Lupin Celestial
it's no secret of the prophecy of the celestials - particularly the prophecy of the twins. 'one must die so the other may live', or so fate has written in the stars. born the eldest twin of his generation, caelum celestial, has only eight more blood moons to live and train if he doesn't want to die by his brother's sword. and where else in twisted wonderland would he go to train other than night raven college? *twised from the sun and moon (themes from disney)*
Tumblr media
ᴅᴏʀᴍ: Pomefiore
sorted into the pomefiore dorm, honoring the beauty queen's spirit of tenacity, caelum is relentless when it comes to training himself to be the celestial he was born to be. there is nothing that can sway him from his path, not even the fear of dying with a sword in his stomach. although the dark mirror has sorted him into pomefiore, he was close to being in ignihyde because of his diligence to his training and savanaclaw because of his strong persistance spirit.

ᴀᴘᴘᴇᴀʀᴀɴᴄᴇ: photo album
caelum celestial - code name: the moonlight of the heavens - his skin is extremely pale, almost vampirish-white. - his eyes are often remarked as 'blank' due to his often poker-face. however, they gleam the hue of light navy blue. - when he is using his unique magic, his grey hair will glow slightly. - caelum likes wearing his long grey hair in a high ponytail that trails down his back all the way to a few inches past his waist. - normally, he wears the nrc uniform but if given the choice, he prefers wearing a simple black or grey hanfu-like clothing or a simple black t-shirt paired with black skinny leggings. - he always has on leather black gloves - he wears a moon-themed necklace and silver earrings all the time, no matter the time or place. he treasures them as they are a gift from his parents. - surprisingly enough, he has a tattoo. on the back of his neck, it is a black full moon, standing out against his pale skin. - similar to diasomnia students, he has his infamous black katana tied to his waist at all times.
Tumblr media
Qᴜᴏᴛᴇꜱ: *ੈ✩‧₊˚ dorm uniform summon: "you wish to fight against the moonlight of the heavens? you dare to jest, knowing my family history? are you laughing at my possible death? fools." *ੈ✩‧₊˚ battle start: "let the battle begin and the war rage on." *ੈ✩‧₊˚ battle win: "*sheathes sword* have you learnt your lesson? you can never win against me." *ੈ✩‧₊˚ home idle: "the prophecy was made thousands of years ago but for our family, it's a daily reminder that one of the latest generations is going to die soon." "my dream?...i don't think i deserve to dream. it seems selfish of me to dream of a future when i or my brother won't even be there to witness it." "night raven college is an...interesting school to say the least. there's no such thing as a boring day here."
Tumblr media
ᴜɴɪQᴜᴇ ᴍᴀɢɪᴄ: HEAVEN'S SWORD DANCE
*ੈ✩‧₊˚ "moonlight shine, nocturals awaken, bear witness to "heaven's sword dance!" caelum's unique magic: "heaven's sword dance" gives him the ability to battle the enemy in a separate realm that only he can access and use the celestial family's signature spells. in that realm, his stamina and endurance are restored but he can only sustain the realm for ten minutes maximum until he trains harder and gains more experience. in the separate realm, he can use the celestial family's signature spells such as 'bullet rain' and 'carousal of lightning' to defeat his foe. the damage done to the foe is also mirrored outside of the realm; their body will be physically exhausted due to their wounds sustained from inside the realm. outside the realm, the foe and caelum's physical body is stuck in 'limbo' and is frozen in their movements until caelum dismantles the separate realm.
Tumblr media
ʀᴇʟᴀᴛɪᴏɴꜱʜɪᴘꜱ:
*ੈ✩‧₊˚lilia vanrouge - the mysterious vice leader of diasomnia and the hidden general caelum discovers lilia vanrouge's swordmanship by complete accident. one night, while wandering the grounds of night raven college to find a good swordsmanship arena to train in, he finds lilia training both sebek and silver. upon witnessing his skill, caelum begs lilia to train him, and after days of pleading, lilia relents, allowing caelum to join sebek and silver in their rigorous training. nowadays, lilia treats caelum as an adopted son, giving him some of his 'delicious' dishes to try and inviting him to lunch with the rest of the diasomnia gang. lilia, when asked about caelum: "he's such a tenacious soul, there's no questioning which dorm he is a part of. but personally, i like to think of him as my son after all the bonding moments we went through!"
*ੈ✩‧₊˚ rook hunt - the queen's huntsman and pomefiore's vice leader when the new student joined pomefiore, rook hunt was stunned to discover that he is unable to discover anything about caelum aside from his physical traits. he is a complete mystery to the huntsman and his soul itched to discover more about this special specimen. they became quick friends, united by their love for battle and beauty (by their own definitions). rook can often be seen around caelum's stoic self, his bright and outgoing personality sharply contrasting against the moon heir. yet, even after all their differences, caelum admits that in a fight, he would trust rook hunt with his life. rook, when asked about caelum: "monsieur la lune? ahh, he is one of the fairest, i will admit! there's something about him that draws people in, despite his stoicness. i am one of them and i am glad to be able to bare witness to the beauty of the moonlight."
*ੈ✩‧₊˚sirius apollon celestial - the sunburst of the heavens and the other cursed twin if caelum's stoic demeanor resembled his title of 'moonlight of the heavens', then sirius's sanguine attitude towards life reflected his title of 'sunburst of the heavens'. born as the younger twin brother, sirius apollon celestial is also cursed with the prophecy of the twins, fated to kill his brother or be killed by his brother's sword. despite that, sirius is a cheerful boy with a rather optimistic personality; he enjoys his life to the fullest knowing that in eight blood moons, it could be cut short. he studies in royal sword academy and is close friends with neige leblanche. sirius and caelum's relationship as brothers would shock many, since their prophecy is well known. they are very close to one another, loving each other as brothers until the very end. sirius, when asked about caelum: "when that fated day comes, not only will i cry tears of sadness, but my soul will tear itself into thousand pieces. caelum is my other half; he knows me better than i know myself. however, if i were to fall to his sword, i would be happy knowing that it was my brother who had slain me. i wouldn't wish for it to be anyone else."
