Out of Context Tag Game
Thank you @amaiguri for the tag. I actually have a perfectly funny one for this from some late night writing.
The idea with this tag game is to just share a line from a WIP without any context.
Diana paused, her leg hung from her cane as she leveled a questioning look at Julia. "What happened this time?"
This is just such a funny mental image for me.

Happy Worldbuilding Wednesday!
I was wondering: apart from necromancy, what other kinds of magic exist in your setting? How are magic users integrated/perceived by society and how common are they?
Thank you :D
Ohh thank you for the ask!
So the basic types of magic in my world are the standard element manipulators. You got your fire witches and your earth mages and your water and air, but those are just the surface level, elementary level magics. There are plant magics, warming and cooling magics, there are magics of any type that are used in a pinpoint manner or as brute force, and there are rare magics that are able to tap into the energy of the world and life itself, as with necromancy. As a sort of meta statement, I consider magic types to be results of user preference more than any inherent characteristic. Just like some people are drawn to math or biology, some people are drawn to fire or air magic. The magic all comes from the same place, and is made of the same essence, but the user finds certain things to be more natural to them. A witch with an air preference can do fire magic, but it will be a lot harder and take a lot more effort. Training and practice also compound this effect.
Magic and magic users, depending on where in the world you are, are pretty common. The more basic the magic, the more users there are. Fire magic is the most common. Every witch starts by learning a few fire spells. Earth is the rarest of the basic types, and a lot harder to learn. Witches are members of neighborhoods and work in factories and participate in all levels of society. The neighborhood Covens sometimes have bake sales and meet at libraries or community centers. If you have a streak of bad luck or a persistent cold, you might ask your next door witch to whip up a charm for you, in exchange for a few cookies or a dinner. Now, necromancers like Nicolette are not common at all, and also, are not legal. But most of the others are fairly normal.

My preference is to wake up slowly and then write first thing in the afternoon as I eat yummy food and drink tea. I have a beautiful home so I love to just be home to do this. I know I do better work if I take walks and exercise. And then, I can spend the evenings to
Sadly, this is rarely what happens due to my work schedule. My big girl job, as it turns out, does happen in the day. So usually I end up writing at 1am on my phone in bed and this is not as good for me. But it is what it is鈽猴笍
WIP Wednesday: The Act of Writing
Good Wednesday, Writerlings and Bookwyrms. We've been talking a bunch about what we write and what we think of what we write, so how about we instead talk a little bit about how we write.
So let's talk shop. Do you prefer to write on a PC or on your phone? Do you have any beverages available as you go? Do you prefer silence as you write, or do you have to have some music (or something else?) going while you work? Do you find that these habits vary over time, or is there one right way for you to do this?

Happy Worldbuilding Wednesday! 馃悪 - Does your world have a beast like "the kraken" in the depths?
Helloooo! Thanks for the askkkk! (And I hope you're still hangin' in there!)
Yssaia doesn't have a direct Kraken comparison but there is both one of those classic Serpent-Kaiju and, more relevant to the main story, an Abyss Goddess named Eris!

She collects eyes and hands out the ability to see magic! She has a sister named Yeulia who loves humans. Sometimes, she tries to mimic her but unlike Yeulia, she gets no joy out of humans directly. So, this confuses her. She does enjoy watching human lives go to shit, though -- and so she picks out interesting people to rise to power and then orchestrates their fall. In the positive, she is chaos, but in the negative, she is entropy and individualism and apathy.
Could she ever love? Could anyone ever love her?

Hello! Happy WBW! 馃挅 Are there any treasures or important relics hidden in your world? Have any secret codes been left unencrypted, and if so, how do individuals come across them? Or are they more of a myth/legend in your world and nobody has discovered them yet?
Despite being such a history buff irl, I don't actually have the history or archeological findings of Yssaia that specified. I don't think there's a lot of secret codes or lost societies or whatever that I've built...
That being said, Arlasaire (my protagonist's) necklace is a fire starter/cigarette lighter and she found it in an ancient ruin. It's basically junk but it became treasure to her because it was given to her by her significant other and superior officer before he died. So now it's a symbol of the bond between them -- as well as Arlasaire herself.

What about you, @spideronthesun? Do you have interesting treasures or secret codes in your work? 馃憖

Happy Worldbuilding Wednesday! Do your characters have any particularly interesting fashion choices? What are they and why?馃憯馃セ馃憳馃憲馃憵馃泹
HOW DID I MISS THIS??? I'd wait to answer this tomorrow to be another Worldbuilding Wednesday, but I don't want to! Thank you for the ask! For this one, I'm choosing to go with my Crown of Blood WIP, since it's one of the few that I actually have kind of a plan for AND isn't just IRL casual clothes, lol.
For Crown of Blood, it widely varies by region, as well as social class, but most if it is medieval era Western (and East Asian!) clothing. I don't really know how to explain the fusion quite yet, but basically for Adrasteia specifically, she has a wider range because she's literally royalty and can therefore afford import costs. Her outfits range widely from more standard traditional clothes to clothes that have a fusion in terms of cuts and patterns. Skirts that wrap and tie, but are shaped kind of western, etc. Think some of the fancier clothing in Meiji period Japan as well as the mutual Eastern influences on Edwardian England and France.
There's an article about it on "lilyabsinthe.com", and while I don't know the validity or full accuracy of these claims, either way I liked the idea and want to explore it more. I've seen more modern examples of ideas online, of people mixing traditional and kinda modern pieces that I like, but I unfortunately don't have any on hand (it is VERY messy in my phone lol). But I'll leave it here because it's getting WAY too long haha.
The commoners/less obscenely wealthy, I'm thinking of a few ideas for. I initially was curious about the idea of clothing similar to some minority subgroups (I was particularly fascinated with Ainu and Nivkh clothing), but then I realized that might come across as insensitive/sending a bad message, etc. So I think I'll leave that for another story. My current idea is to have either medieval western clothing or even older East Asian clothes, though I haven't 100% decided which one is better/simpler etc. I'll have to determine the weather first. Obviously since this is an empire, there are definitely other cultures and societies that all make up the bigger entity. So they're not going to all have the same clothes, even amongst commoners if they're from different regions.
I think I'll have to determine the weather/terrain and culture of the regions first. The main hub of the empire is kinda woodsy with various bodies of water (but no ocean), so they might traditionally opt for tighter fit clothing- but I mean, Europe had plenty of forests, and people still wore long skirts, so... maybe I'm just trying too hard!
This is DEFINITELY too long now so I'll cut it here! Basically I've no clue yet, but I'm really fascinated by the idea of a fusion! Thanks again for the ask!

After the fall of Old Thuille, a city-state secluded in the mountains rose in its place. A home to Noble Mages escaping the Saegen markings who could carry on the legacy of Old Thuille. Or so they claim. Their hot springs, rich mineral resources for an easy industrialization, and their affinity for magic has prepared for the return of their Emperor. However, quite often, their hubris gets the best of them...
Nouveau Thuille is very cold and only gets sun twice a day -- at dawn and dusk, when it can creep in during the sides of the mountain. It snows year round, but the hotsprings ensure that humans can actually survive here somewhat reasonably. While humans cannot drink the hotsprings water directly, their animals can and humans have learned to purify it further since -- as well as melt snow and ice for their water.
You've reminded me now that I need to do fashion sketches for the people of Thuille. I've had their fashion the most defined and least changed since the beginning and I gotta come back to it... O_O
Here's a bonus picture of their food:

I'd rewrite this as:
She rearranges a bouquet like it's the only bouquet in the world. Daffodils. Lillies. And springs of dried cardomum, even though it's out of season. A twine of baby's breath too. Each flower is bespoke -- no other arrangement in the shop matches.
Writeblr game!!
Rules: Put the last line of your wip and let the people you tag rewrite it however they want.
For example:
She's currently busy arranging a bouquet, deliberately picking each flower she wants in the new arrangement.
Here's the last line of my wip. The people I tag (if they choose to) can rewrite it however they'd like. Then, put their last line underneath the rewrite for the people they tag to rewrite theirs
