This Season's Focus on Platonic Relationships
Something that seems more obvious with the situation with Hetty in the last episode, but 8 episodes out of 10 so far, and they've been focusing on the platonic relationships.
In the OWL, Trevor and Sass supporting Thor & Sam's pain over "losing a friend". The ghosts being upset about Flower/possessive over Sam and Jay.
In Dream Man (I am not sure if that's the name), Jay's most upset because he could have had a friendship with Jay, but didn't. There's also the conversation about 'we're roommates'.
Episode Eric Fucking Sucks (alright, not the actual name...), there's a bit Trevor's friendship with Bela, and Hetty being a good friend to Isaac, as well as Sass and Hetty's friendship moments.
In Halloween 3, everyone's focused on being a good friend to Thor by getting Flower in a seance. We also have Sam wanting real friends, and Carol trying to be a friend to them.
In Pete's Girls (yes, I know that's not the name), we've got the focus on Nancy and Alberta being good friends to Pete so he's not embarrassed. We also have the storyline with Trevor, Isaac and Jay in which Isaac is a 'good' friend with this money to Jay and making that platonic relationship stronger.
In Trevor's Brother (because WHY DIDN"T THEY NAME IT THIS), there's the focus on Trevor has a good brother to Jeremy, and Sass&Thor attempting to be good friends to Pete by showing him Carol sucks.
In Stripper's Are Fun (I like this better than Poltergise - yeah, I can't spell), there's the focus on the boys being good friends to Isaac (and Nigel) with the bachelor parties, AND on Sam's friendship with Alberta so she can get some.
In Well, Well, Well (which I think would've been awesome name), we've got the ghosts rallying together as FRIENDS to Flower to get her out. The focus on Hetty and Flower's friendship, on Sam and Hetty, but most importantly on Isaac & Hetty's friendship.
in relation to that Isaac, Sam & Flower with Hetty's secret scene, I am going to put the rest of this under the cut. (Even though I don't officially mention anything - just talk about why it was Isaac and not Trevor). and My conclusion.
I know, as shippers, people tend to focus on the romantic relationships over the friendships, but I think it makes sense that it was Isaac that went to Hetty. Their friendship has been there for 130 years, and on top of that, she and Trevor are barely friends.
Despite the fact that I like to HC that they are deeply in love and not just fuck buddies, the fact is AS WRITTEN, they are just fuck buddies. Clearly, they care for one another. BUT Hetty's been holding him at a distance for a reason. It's part of who she is, it's part of the way she doesn't believe in romantic love (as stated in the pre-nup episode), and it makes sense that she hasn't gotten there, yet.
Given those facts, it makes far more sense that it was Isaac not Trevor that comforts her. He's the one with the history with her. He's the one that she shares things with. And He's the one that has been there for her through her life and afterlife and I LOVE that they had her platonic relationships be the focus of it.
Because Platonic love is just as important.
Although, I'm sure something behind the scenes probably did happen between the couple, I still think it makes more sense for it to be Isaac, and I really like that they did that.
IN CONCLUSION, the Platonic Relationships this season have been ON FIRE and I LOVE IT. I really got annoyed by the overwhelming romance plots last season and they've managed to even it out a bit and it's awesome.
Thanks for reading :)

As Marvel reportedly prepares to revamp its approach to television programming, “Loki” remains the only one of the nine series to get a second season. But, according to executive producer Kevin Wright, there wasn’t pressure in that fact — it was more like a responsibility.
“I could see how you could go that way. I think we found it as really freeing and exciting,” Wright told TheWrap. “Because it was like, we’re getting it because people liked it, and they were excited, and they’re super stoked. And also, because we end on the cliffhanger we end on, it would be cruel to not come back and pay that off.”
That said, Wright notes that he and his team made a concerted effort not to take fan enthusiasm for granted when crafting these six episodes.
“I think, for the team, there was a seriousness in the undertaking of it though, of: people liked it, we probably can’t just come back and play the hits and try to recapture the magic,” he explained. “Because that wouldn’t be fulfilling, even if we succeeded at it.”
He continued, “And so I think it was like, we established the world, it was a crazy world about time travel, and multiverse, but people bought in and they liked that world. And they liked these characters. And so, for us, it was like, OK, we can like really dive in deeper to this now. And hopefully people will come along with us on that ride.”
That said, like most of the other Marvel TV shows, “Loki” had shifts in its creative team. As a result, Wright and Tom Hiddleston, who executive produces the series as well as stars in it, were tasked with making sure there was a smooth transition.
“Because Kate Herron left at the end of season one, she kind of handed the reins over and said ‘I told my story, you guys run with it,’” Wright said. “It left a little bit of like a ship for us.”
According to Wright, Hiddleston was invaluable in keeping that ship afloat and moving, and has been since the show went into development almost five years ago. Wright touted Hiddleston’s devotion to the show, joking that sharing an adjoining office with him was often “like Kramer bursting into Jerry’s apartment on ‘Seinfeld’” when Hiddleston would get an idea.
“He has always been a true driving force behind the scenes of this. He’s my true producing partner, which, I can’t oversell that,” Wright said. “Truly, he’s there in the writers room. He is there as we start shooting. On weekends, we’re going in, we’re having meetings about, like, adjusting scripts so that we can find ways to get more money, and move it to build different sets and he’s involved in all those conversations.”
He continued, “And because of the shift between seasons — Kate stepping away, [Michael] Waldron stepping away to go and take on more responsibility of other Marvel projects — he and I kind of had to pick up more slack and be the continuity as we added pieces to our team, with like Justin [Benson] and Aaron [Moorehead], and Isaac, [Bauman] our cinematographer coming in, and kind of building and elevating people who are from our season one team into higher positions.”
Wright argues that the show wouldn’t be “nearly as great as it is” without Hiddleston specifically producing it.
“You know he’s going to give everything on screen. But as soon as we’re not shooting, he’s behind the scenes, making all of this work,” Wright said.
At this point, it’s unclear whether “Loki” will get, or even really need a third season, but Marvel is reportedly focused on their approach to TV going forward.
“We’re trying to marry the Marvel culture with the traditional television culture,” Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s head of streaming, television and animation told THR. “It comes down to, ‘How can we tell stories in television that honor what’s so great about the source material?’”

I was literally thinking about all the fics where Stiles is like "and then Derek pushed me around 🥺" like... Derek did the steering wheel thing because Stiles made him STRIP FOR A SIXTEEN YEAR OLD BOY.
I started to read an article that opened up by criticizing the "physically abusive sterek ship" and backed out immediately, like you people need to remember that the show exists and that is not based in reality.
Pack mom Stiles.... gah. Stiles would never help Isaac with his homework. Derek would!! But Stiles? Hell no.
Stiles is literally a fucking creep. He walks around telling everyone that he loves Lydia. He has no boundaries. I love him that way. He's a snarky little asshole who would definitely just show up in Derek's apartment one day and Derek would be like "how did you get in here?" And then Stiles reveals that he pretended to be a doordash driver with a delivery and then picked the lock on Derek's front door.
fun fact my url before this one was creeperderek. i am fond of that url. he of loitering at tree lines and creepily disappearing into shadows in the boy's locker room for no fucking reason.
stiles does have a lack of boundaries and really intense anxiety about the people he cares about.
he listens to the police scanner regularly and monitors his father's diet due to his intense, almost uncontrollable anxiety about his father. he's terrified his dad will die and has an intense fear it will because of him.
all of that of course stems from his mother's death when he was so, so young and how claudia in her cognitive decline blamed stiles and accused him of trying to kill her.
this anxiety also extends to scott and melissa to various degrees due to their significance to the stability of his life for so long and why he's irrationally scared to tell his father the truth despite knowing if the sheriff understood what was really happening it would help more than hinder.
than there's other things like how he has a copy to the key to the mccall house that melissa isn't aware of and it's made pretty clear that stiles took the imitative. scott didn't give it to him.
scott doesn't seem all that bothered by this but scott is one of the few people who knows and mostly understand stiles. they live in each other's pockets. scott would be oddly touched but also be like bro what in the fuck? because really, stiles what the fuck?
people find that fucking weird and creepy.
it truly wouldn't surprise me at all if stiles had a copy of the loft key and derek knew he did and said nothing about it because these two are weird little freaks that probably have frequently creeped on each other.
we do get indications they speak outside of what we're shown. two little maladjusted bastards sharing one brain cell to creep on each other.
if stiles showed up in derek's loft derek probably wouldn't even be surprised. in fact he'd tell stiles he took longer than expected, peter did it better and he sucked.
it's so funny that fandom developed the idea that derek sneaks into stiles's bedroom all the time via the window and we literally never see this. it never canonically happens. though it's not said how derek got inside in wolf's bane so maybe a window but frankly i find it more plausible derek just, you know, broke in the house via a door.
putting a read more on this because i had a lot to say lol
stiles and lydia. ooh boy.
sentiment within fandom swayed a lot on these two and i've seen the common argument that sterek fans don't like stydia as a paring because it's not gay, or something to which i say lol no. i, personally, don't ship them romantically because for like 2 seasons stiles didn't see her as person and she mostly ignored his entire existence.
he fixated on lydia in the 3rd grade which would've been around the time claudia declined and than passed away. he held onto that crush tightly, put lydia on a pedestal making her more into an ideal than a person.
there's moments where we see them genuinely connect but there's so many scenes between the two of them until like season 3 that are cringe and uncomfortable. my main issue is that lydia never really says much about it either.
it's like until she becomes a real girl to stiles her position doesn't matter even when we see her be uncomfortable or weirded out around stiles.
we actually do see stiles and derek develop boundaries with each other. stiles uses derek to literally queerbait danny in wolf's bane. both derek and danny seem to realize this as it occurs and derek pointedly, purposefully retaliates with violence which isn't great but it makes it clear that derek is not okay with what stiles did and a line had been crossed. s2 has derek also indicate to stiles it's not okay to touch without permission.
remember the finger tippy taps stiles's gives derek when boyd dies? that's stiles having learned derek's physical boundaries over 3 seasons so that he is able to offer him comfort in a awful, terrible moment.
in conclusion derek and stiles aren't abusive and it's odd people latched onto that idea. they're abrasive assholes to each other and lack boundaries in the beginning because their maladjusted people for various reasons while also just being two little freaks about each other.

*BBC Ghosts s5 obvious spoilers*
I can’t stop thinking about the s5e5. I have been in awe of it. As this is the final season, I think we all were expecting Captain’s ‘coming out’ scene. I mean ‘coming out’ of his sexuality. When he was interrupted in the group therapy session of s3e5, we all were on the edge of our seats because that seemed like his ‘coming out’ scene.
What we saw in s5e5 instead was something different, and something profound and emotional. It was more complex and multilayered.
By the way, I am fond of US Ghosts and their ‘coming out’ scene with Isaac and Hetty was nice (including the fact that other ghosts already knew about Issac’s sexuality).
I knew BBC Ghosts wouldn’t recreate that kind of conversation. That kind of conversation was already made by Humphrey and Lady Button in s2e6, regarding the different values. Lady Button was originally offended by same-sex marriage, and perhaps by homosexuality or queerness. However, she understood them in the end.
We actually don’t know what exactly Captain talked and shared with other ghosts. We saw the flashback scene of the party, but it didn’t show his ‘angle’ in that recreation. Presumably, he ‘confessed’ that he was not actually a decorated officer and was no ‘hero’. His sexuality might be, or might not be the focus. The simple fact that he came back, sneaked in and faked himself to get into to Button House just for seeing Havers would explain.
Even if he has never used the terms (such as homosexual), the whole story is full of queer undertones - or rather, overtones. Captain had to fake himself to ‘blend in’, and his disguise/secret was revealed. ‘Have you no shame?’ This is, undoubtedly, a queer story. It is not subtext, it is explicit. His queerness is overlapped with the concept of masculinity in the military (bravery, heroism) too. This storytelling is multifaceted, but doesn’t strike me as ‘shying away’ from explicit queer representation. This is pretty much on brand for BBC Ghosts.
At first I thought the reactions of other ghosts were a bit blant. However, after the rewatch, I thought it was perfect - only Lady Button said ‘you are a brave man’. It can be interpreted that Captain was/is brave to follow his heart and be himself. The fact that it was Lady Button who commented also added layers. What she said was quite comforting, especially given that she was most likely to be ‘conservative’ (obviously in the modern sense) on queer identity.
I’m really curious how long they planed this backstory. I have heard that Captain’s badge was upside down from the start, so I guess it was from the beginning. Such a fascinating story building; I like when TV serious has consistency.

I actually liked the way Otis and Maeve's story ended (I say this as someone who has shipped them since season 1). My only problem is that I feel like there weren't special moments between them like there used to be in season 1, or sometimes in season 2, that would have made their break up feel more impactful. I feel like Aimee and Maeve's relationship ended up outshining them, and even Isaac's small moment with Maeve this season felt like more of a connection than Otis had with her this season. I definitely loved what Maeve shared with Aimee and Isaac and would not change a thing. But, I would also add awesome Motis moments like we got when the show first came out. But I feel like the letter sort of made up for all the bullshit that went down between them and explained why she loved him. I still would have preferred if there were some season 1-like moments though.
Also, I didn't really like Ruby's last scene with Otis. I think it was a sign that she was putting herself first instead choosing to hang out with Otis when she clearly wasn't over him, which was good. But I wish the dialogue had been different. Or maybe I've completely misinterpreted the scene?
I actually quite liked this season overall for all of the characters, especially Maeve, Aimee, Ruby, Isaac, and Eric. I think Adam's arc was good too, he was just never my personal favourite.
Also, did anyone else expect that Molloy dude to steal Maeve's work? And a book from Maria Bronte's perspective sounds really interesting to me.

a/n: my insistent need to write sterek angst is showing whoops
warnings: Derek finding out about Stiles’ regression for the first time, hurt/comfort, Stiles using regression as a coping mechanism, protective Derek
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-
Derek glances over at Stiles for the fifth time in the past minute, something's off with him, he's bouncing his leg and his heart beats as if he's on edge. It's not an emotion Hale picks up a lot from Stiles, anxious and nervous aren't words Derek would think to describe him at all, he's more energetic and curious than anything.
So it's raising quite a few red flags now. They're at Scott's house, trying to act normal and watch a movie like regular non-supernatural friends do. Lydia and Jackson are laid out on the makeshift bed on the floor next to Alison and Scott, there's a horror comedy going that the pairs seem very interested in. Isaac, Stiles and Derek take up the couch with Stiles in the middle.
Before the shift of Stiles’ behavior he was happily chuckling at the movie, giggling really, another thing Derek has never heard until tonight. Maybe he just hasn't been around Stiles long enough outside the near death experiences they share, Hale can't spend too much time dwelling on it as when a gruesome yet comical death pops up on screen Stiles curls back from the Tv.
He's closer to Derek than Isaac, who must've picked up on Stiles' actions and heartbeat as he keeps looking him over, presumably checking for injuries like Isaac usually does when someones acting off. Derek almost goes to ask Stiles if he's alright but he can't get the words out before Stiles is barreling himself backwards into Derek's chest.
"You okay?" Stiles doesn't say anything in reply but his heart rate has ticked up a significant amount and one of his hands grabs the loose material of Derek's t-shirt like a lifeline.
"Stiles?" He keeps his voice low, even if half the room can hear him if they wanted to no matter what. Stiles lets out a small whine, it twists something in Derek's chest, he suddenly has the urge to wrap Stiles up in a mountain of blankets and never let anything bad or scary come near him.
"Is it the movie?" Another flinch after a bloody scene and the pieces fall together, Derek curls his arm around Stiles to block out the Tv, practically shielding his whole body into Hales chest.
"Wanna leave." It's small, pitchy, unusually young sounding. It's all Derek needs to jump up with a sputtered out excuse about Stiles having a headache and needing a ride home, of course the other wolves sitting around hear how obvious of a lie it is but they thankfully keep their mouths shut.
-
Getting to Stiles' house takes no time at all, Noah's still at the office so Derek is able to slip them both upstairs without any interruptions. Stiles stays pressed to Hales side the whole time. As close as he can get while still using his legs to walk, or to drag, Derek holds most of Stiles' weight and takes them up the stairs as carefully as he can to not have either of them trip.
"Can you tell me what's going on now?" He tries to sound assuring, attempting to not let any of the worry that Derek can feel building in his gut appear on his face or in his tone.
"I feel- small." Stiles doesn't look up as he says it, squeezing the ball of Derek's shirt he still holds instead, pulling him the littlest bit closer despite the hesitation in his words.
"Small?" A beat passes of silence. Derek isn't sure what to do in this situation, he's never had someone hold onto him like this, clinging onto to him as if begging him not to leave.
His thoughts get pulled back to reality when Stiles leans over his bed, one hand still holding Derek's shirt so it stretches as he reaches with his free arm, retrieving a small book that he places slowly in Derek's lap.
It's clipped down with a small strip of cloth that's definitely needed as the book thickens up quickly when Derek un clasps it. The first few pages are warnings as to not continue reading as this is personal for Stiles, Derek flips past them when Stiles nudges him along, stopping him on a specific page. It's a list of definitions scribbled down in Stiles' handwriting, Derek focuses in on the one that reads 'Little (small)' there's a dash before it explains what an age regressor is, how it's a change in mental state, a coping mechanism.
Oh. Derek's eyes fall to Stiles' state, how curled in on himself he is, how his eyes have a slight gloss of pain to them; Hales heart all but shatters. He quickly pulls Stiles into his chest, pushing them back till they reach Stiles' headboard. He's hoping this is the right move. It feels like it and Stiles hasn't pushed him away yet, so Derek just holds him, taking in deep breaths in hopes that Stiles will naturally relax enough to match the pattern, and rubbing his hand in big circles over Stiles' back for extra comfort.
"The movie, it triggered you?" Stiles nods against Derek's chest, tucking his legs up on top of Hales, looking impossibly tiny as he lays on Derek.
"Is there anything I can do to help?" Triggers aren't new to Derek, not in the slightest, but this is the first time he's ever seen something affect Stiles, normally the brunette is great at bouncing back and keeping things together, at least on the surface. But judging by the amount of pages in that book that are filled, this isn't a new feeling for Stiles.
"Stay, don't let the bad things get me." The young sound and vulnerability in Stiles voice is enough to crack Derek's heart open even more. He can't help but tug Stiles in closer, allowing Stiles to wrap his arms around Hales waist as he tucks his nose into Derek's shoulder.
"I'd never let anything get you, never." Hales hand brushes over Stiles' head, rest on the back of his neck a second, allowing himself to indulge in the softness of the moment. Normally Derek wouldn't dream of being this gentle with someone, frankly he's bad at it, but there's something about Stiles and how easily he cuddles into Derek's chest that makes it seem like a no-brainer to return the affection.
"You're a good protector." It's just barely a mumble, Stiles' eyes fluttering shut as he falls asleep.
Derek's pretty sure he doesn't breathe for a solid minute after hearing the words, he pretends like it doesn't make him tear up a bit and instead focuses on holding Stiles as carefully as he can so the little doesn’t wake up and keeping watch of the door. If Stiles doesn’t want anything bad to happen and he trusts Derek to keep sure of that, it’s all he going to do.

rant about heartstopper for a little
just a word of warning, this isn't going to be extremely positive, but it's not hating on the show
Also all of this is just my opinion, but I'm very open for disagreements, as long as it's respectful
Right off the bat, I have to say, I absolutely hate Nick and Charlie together. I just think they are the most bland boring relationship in the entire show(I also don't think the actors are the best on the show which might have something to do with my dislike of them together) I have to say, my dislike of them together likely also stems from fluff not being my favorite (but I did like them in the books). Just looking at the relationship itself, it kinda feels like the writers weren't sure what to do with them after, like the first three or four episodes. All of the drama and conflict felt extremely forced, just for the sake of needing the main couple to be compelling. In the books, the majority of the plot took place in one or two books;but the show obviously had to stretch out the plot, which didn't work great. I feel like I might've liked the relationship more if they just dealed with all the conflict right off the bat, instead of trying to stretch in out. If they had done this, then all of the disgustingly sweet scenes could've happened without forced conflict, and the conflict(which is basically necessary for entertainment) could've been saved for other characters where it wouldn't have felt forced. Also, all of their scenes together just feel so... loud(?) To me...?(idk if that's just me)
I also have to say I do like the way they handled Nick and his getting comfortable with his sexuality. I also really enjoyed Tara and Darcy(for the most part), as well as Tao and Elle in general. I absolutely loved Isaac and his storyline of realizing hes ace and stuff (although I think it's absolutely ridiculous that hes always reading, and it felt a little bit like the creators were saying that ace people can't even enjoy being around their friends)
I also think that s2 was so much better than s1. Pretty much the only thing I didn't like about s2 was the stupid fricking hickey plotline, it was just completely unnecessary. I feel like the hickey could've just been replaced with, like, a video of Charlie kissing someone or something like that. (Idk?? The plotline was dumb is what I'm saying)Other than that, I really liked how Nick and Charlie took a little step back from being in the constant spotlight, and let the other(imo more compelling) characters/storylines shine. It was good, and the extremely disgustingly cringy akward scenes that made me dislike s1, seemed to leave for the most part(which might be due to the actors just getting better at acting and getting more used to being on screen) only one or two moments made me yell at the screen this season, as opposed to s1 where I was yelling every two seconds at something. Also I just love Imogen.
I just feel like, the show is good, not great or horrible, it's just a good show. I feel like that it really should just be taken for what it is, it's nothing revolutionary(I understand it has a lot of queer characters, but so does DC legends of tomorrow and all of those characters are fleshed out better; whilst I feel as though the heartstopper characters are fairly one dimensional) but it is just a good show. I just think that the show wanted to give the exact same vibe as the book and it just didn't translate well to a TV show. Also I'm gonna admit to being extremely biased here because I absolutely HATE Charlies character and portrayal (not so much in the books though), but that's for another rant.
If you'd like, please feel free to share your opinion! I would love to understand what people see in heartstopper, other than representation.

The Ancient Magus' Bride Season 2 Episode 12: A Small Leak Will Sink A Great Ship II.
Tumblr media
Well, the Spring season has been winding down as of late, so it means we get to add another series to the pile of completed (for now) seasons with MahoYome. Though, unless I lived under a rock and missed the original announcement, we've found out that MahoYome S2 will be re-appearing in Fall with a second part! Regardless of continuation though, this part of the season ends on solid ground, with promises of interesting stories to come, so there's certainly plenty for me to chat about.
Okay, so with the end of this part of the season, I am actually going to talk about the production quality of the episode a little bit.
Yes, it did end on a high note, and that's expected really, but I want to break it down a little more. When you're watching the episode, there's hardly any scenes that feature a large amount of movement of motion, save the piece with the principal and her cat-sìth. You'd think it might be a bit more noticeable than it is, really, but it's not. When you're well aware of your constraints, you're able to play further into your strengths.
The strong use of first person, aggressive angles, and narrow/empty space gives Kafka a lot of respite from the more challenging tertiary pieces to animating an episode, and as they're used intentionally, they produce a very cohesive visual style that plays well with this season's overall approach.
So there you have it, when Kafka's aware of their limits the episodes themselves are always well done. If I were to hope for one thing with the second part of this season, it would be for Kafka to better understand their limits. It'd be great if they could suddenly get better, but I'd think that unlikely in comparison to reflecting on the work done on this season and pivoting to provide a stronger second phase.
Anyways, the actual episode! Lots to chat about, particularly in regards to character arcs. Quite a few get tied up neatly in this episode, but just as many are further exposed and left to be explored in the fall.
We start the episode with Fabio Zacheronni (what a corny name) and introducing an invisible/imaginary plant to our group of students. Right away, I was wondering what was going on as Zoe and Isaac are the only ones reacting to it. I thought it was a really well done piece that immediately got gears turning in regards to what it is the other 3 were exposed to that caused them to be different. Was it their potential or ability for magic? Was it something about their families? I did correctly guess why it was that Zoe and Isaac couldn't see the plant, but I'm going to save that for later and leave it as a very well done question posed to viewers.
Tumblr media
Following this sequence though, the students split up based on their abilities, with Philomela, Chise, and Rian forming a group. It's interesting to see Rian antagonize Philomela right away though. Not even just with his dialogue that challenges her and her passivity with the situation, but his gut reaction to her. From the start, he wears a scowl on his face in regards to the girl, and betrays a deeper frustration and distaste for her than what arises from just this moment.
Tumblr media
Also, an early example of the strong use of first person perspective. We watch Rian (sort of) storm off, and it's really well done. The framing with the cave mouth in front of him works perfectly, and I love the small light shaft shining down on him and the slight depth of field applied to the scene, the latter is such a nice little detail to ensure viewers understand how it is we're looking at Rian.
Tumblr media
Anyways, we shift from the Waste Tower back to the college itself and find Ailce getting the jump on Renfred and entering another discussion about Alice's future and dream.
I think it's a really great piece that further deepens the differences in how Alice and Renfred see each other, but work together to find common ground to share in regards to it. I particularly like parts like this were Renfred continues to treat Alice as a child, so she likens her dream/aspiration to how a kid might dream of becoming a firefighter.
The downcast expression that they share with this moment really speaks volumes to how the pair interact with each other. Alice feels like her dreams and desires are being discounted by the father figure in her life, while Renfred feels like he's failed his adoptive daughter by placing faulty dreams in her head.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course, the interaction ends with an endearing first person perspective that shows what Alice looks like through Renfred's eyes. Overall though, the use of height and space through conversations like these (and the next one with Lucy and Steph) is well used, both inside and out of this first person view.
I really like how they don't just perfectly solve this miscommunication between Renfred and Alice, but that they allow Renfred to move things forward in his own way by trying to relate to Alice a little bit. I'm really looking forward to what we'll see when Alice learns more of Renfred's past.
Tumblr media
Alright, back into the Waste Tower where we find Zoe happy collecting minerals/gems in a cave, though not for long. In the cave they find themselves in, Zoe's confronted by a pair of demi-humans that provide interesting hints and questions as to why they exist within the Waste Tower. Though the highlight of this interaction is Zoe's confidence in themselves. It's a simple and short piece, but concludes their character arc through this season quite comfortably as they release their snakes on the pair of inhabitants.
Tumblr media
Following this brief interlude with Zoe, we return to the college to find Lucy and Steph in an argument of sorts. While this isn't the meat and potatoes of their conflict/interaction, I just wanted to point out how well they use the layouts to convey the scale of these two and show Steph as the more mature one, as well as how similar they remain as siblings despite the differences of each (how they both look down to avoid the confrontation of the moment).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, for my favorite interaction in the episode, Chise and Fabio. I found this one incredibly interesting, as Fabio attempts to sympathize with Chise's "monster" side, rather than Chise herself. There's not much to say aside from that, really. Fabio believes that Chise's "other half" is shunned by the people around her and seen as an object of distaste, so he tries to play into that side of things to win over a Sleigh Beggy for himself, but is met face to face with one of the monsters inhabiting Chise.
First though, this super cool still of Fabio confronting Chise. Love the aggressive camera angle and perspective.
Tumblr media
But anyways, Cartaphilus. I thought this was the perfect piece to effectively end Chise's story with this season. I had mentioned in earlier episodes that you could see just how much of Chise's mannerisms have stemmed from Joseph's influence on her body, but this scene takes it to another level.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's really interesting to actually see Cartaphilus as Chise in this scene, as it shows just how far Chise has fallen into him as a person. Coupled with her disgust and fear from the moment, it creates a really interesting sequence that plays right into the hands of what Joseph had said before.
Similarly, I love this pair of scenes in regards to Chise as Fabio talks down on Elias. Frozen in fear of herself, she listens to Fabio's words as he disparages Elias. Chise is very quick to deny these words however, and step out of Fabio's shadow that he tries to trap her in. Simple, and easily missed, but a very well done piece of symbolism that integrates effortlessly with the scene at hand.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay okay, last thing with this interaction I promise, there's just so much great stuff going on. It's actually here that Fabio reveals why Chise could see the plant he was holding. Chise, along with Rian and Philomela, have killed someone. Not a massive shock given Philomela's involvement and Rian's dispositions alongside his actions while at the overnight camp, but one that's placed right where it needs to be to garner the most effect. It takes a rattled and cornered Chise and shakes her up that little bit more after she had just steeled herself.
Her conversation with Fabio ends here though, as the students return from the Waste Tower, and we move back to Lucy and Steph.
Somewhat similar to Renfred and Alice, it's a conversation about the elder attempting to understand the struggles of the younger that they attempt to save them from, though marginally different.
What I love here is how they start them. Steph hasn't been a part of his family for a long time, and hasn't seen Lucy for much at all of his time away. Because of that, he treats her differently, he hesitates to reach out to her, he sees her as a different person than she is. But underneath that ghost costume, beneath that white sheet is the same fragile little sister that he once knew. (once more a solid use of FPP)
Tumblr media
Once he sees his sister is still that little sister he always knew, he no longer hesitates to embrace her, and we get this wonderful pair of shots, with Lucy's being one of the highlights of the episode. Such an incredible idea in regards to framing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Following this embrace, the siblings have a heartfelt moment which repairs the threads that bind them together as family. It's a really sweet moment between the pair that allows them to be vulnerable, but isn't something that really translates well to sharing your thoughts on, so I'll just leave it at it being a really great moment that brings the pair back together.
And that brings us to the end of the episode. I'm a massive sucker for stuff like this conversation between the principal Lyza, and Philomela's grandmother Lizbeth. Two super powerful people toying with each other to coax out a reaction is just something that's so enjoyable. Knowing and understanding where their abilities lie, and seeing them playfully dance around using them just seems like such a fun thing to me, and it's executed quite well here.
Though before I share the clip for that moment, I just wanted to say how nice it was that Lyza wants to protect Philomela. Even if she was a part of the theft of the book, she's a student before she's a part of the Sargant family, and so she's treated as such in comparison to being a tool in her grandmother's hands.
But anyways, the cat-sìth. They definitely saved a lot of the "budget" of the episode for the scenes of them, and I think it paid off incredibly well for how smooth and expressive these part shadow, part cat faeries are.
Tumblr media
And this is where the first part of this season ends. Overall, I think they do a really outstanding job of providing neat conclusions to plenty of stories and character arcs, while ensuring viewers that a mountain of content remains to be explored. The book still hasn't been found, the purpose behind its theft and the spiders of the Websters is yet unknown, there's some sort of past or history to explore between Rian and Philomela, and we're just starting to see Chise struggle with the others that exist within her.
As a first full scale production, Kafka definitely proves they're worthy of taking over the mantle of handling MahoYome, but also show their immaturity in regards to production through small-scale challenges that appear on a per episode basis. Having a season off to regroup and refocus on the second cour feels like a great idea for them, and I'm incredibly hopeful for them to come out of that break refreshed, and ready to handle the second cour even better than they did the first for this season.

Nathan Shelley: A Defense
Who deserves empathy? Who deserves judgement?
I am not surprised but still disappointed by how much people seem to be really missing one of the central themes of Ted Lasso. It is not as bad as it was back in October when the finale aired, but god, there are still so many people that seem to want Nate to get no redemption and, in various ways, continually express no interest in seeing him become the best version of himself. A lot of people seem to want Nate to get his comeuppance, to see him suffer, ironically behaving a lot like Nate when he got to see the people who had wronged him suffer and receive their comeuppance.
For a show about the healing, transformative power of forgiveness, love and empathy, dang do some people stop short when it comes to Nate, arguably the most demeaned, bullied, downtrodden character in the entire show. Redemption and forgiveness for Rebecca, who tried to destroy dozens of careers and lives, and Jamie, who behaved like shit to the people he saw as beneath him, but none for Nate? So, we have three characters who have used their power incorrectly, but only one of them is the outlier who deserves judgement and retribution?
Alright, got that rant out of the way. Now I want to specifically address a thing I’ve seen that is utterly baffling. I’ve seen people argue that Jamie’s and Rebecca’s respective journeys are different than Nate’s because we saw them get better, whereas we saw Nate get worse. We didn’t see Rebecca and Jamie getting to the dark place they were in by S1; we landed on the start of their positive trajectory. The difference is that we are watching the entirety of that story play out with Nate.
Another argument I’ve seen is that the show hinted at Jamie’s and Rebecca’s good natures in S1, whereas we apparently saw the opposite with Nate. So, basically, Nate doesn’t deserve redemption because he got worse and his truly bad nature was hinted at early on. This implies something utterly ridiculous: that he was always bad, that Nate did not actually have positive traits to begin with. And that’s just… I can’t even cope with how wrong that is.
Selective memory for sure, so let’s go back to season 1 and remember why we love Nate and why his turn is so devastating.
In 1x01, Nate defends Roy’s great legacy as a footballer when Beard suggests his star years might be behind him. He gives Ted and Beard a lift to their places. Nate is loyal and generous with his time. He is also clearly self-conscious and lacks confidence, but he works hard and takes pride in his job.
In 1x02, Nate is still showing surprise that Ted is even deigning to notice him, let alone asking after his opinion. Nate says Sam has been ‘underperforming’ since he arrived from Nigeria. That’s a very generous thing to say; it’s clear he knows Sam has potential, but something is getting in the way of his success. This helps Ted make some great coaching decisions. Nate is smart and good at reading people. He also makes adorable boxes with his niece. A few of the players laugh at him for having done this. Jamie also calls him “bitch boy” to ringing laughter, and it doesn’t seem like it’s remotely the first time.
In 1x03, Nate nervously but bravely shares his idea for a strategy. He is speechless with joy when he gets to see it in action. He also shows that he cares whether the pitch is properly taken care of. He’s the kit man; presumably, he is not responsible for clearing shit off the field, but he does it anyway. We also see tinges of that in his first scene - caring about the field the players use. In the midst of all this, we also see that Nate is being bullied and harassed by Jamie, Colin and Isaac every day, and that no one has intervened, even Ted, who has decided Roy has to be the one to intervene.
In 1x04, when Ted invites Nate to be his plus one to the gala, Nate says, “I’m free every night.” As Jason has said, jokes on this show have consequences. This illuminates for us that Nate spends a lot of time on his own and even suggests Nate may not have many friends. We also learn that Nate can’t afford to buy a new suit. He later shows some gaining confidence when he says hello to Rebecca and a marked amount of grace considering she doesn’t appear to recognize him or realize he works for her. Later, Nate thanks Roy for talking to Colin and Isaac.
In 1x05, Nate encourages Ted to open up about the problems in his marriage by asking about the distance, but he does so in a very gentle way, asking if he can ask something first. He’s also self-aware enough to notice and apologize when he inadvertently provided unsolicited feedback on something with which he doesn’t have experience: “Marriage. Just so, you know, so complicated. So many different challenges and... I think. I don't know. Sorry.” Then he makes a smart conversational move to bring Beard into the discussion. “You ever been married?” After they win the match, Nate also walks Henry on to the pitch to see Ted after the game, reuniting father and son.
In 1x06, Nate participates in the ritual with the team, sacrificing sunglasses that made him feel perceived in a positive way. He is honest and contributes positively to the group.
In 1x07, Nate says he believes Richmond can do anything; he believes in the team and their ability to succeed. He has thoughts about the team, but he is scared to share them because he believes it could lead to losing his job and having to move back in with his parents. He also instantly accepts Ted’s apology, and once he’s finished the roast portion of his pre-game speech (which Ted encourages him to give), he provides Roy with genuinely good advice, not just on the field but in life, to make sure he isn’t keeping his anger inside because of what it might do to him as a person if he holds it in. He cares about Roy and his well-being.
In 1x08, Nate is supportive of Ted’s one night stand, like Beard and Higgins. And when Beard asks if Ted had fun, Nate immediately follows up to ask if *she* had fun. He also comes up with the name for the Diamond Dogs.
In 1x09, Nate apologizes for walking away from Ted over the Roy situation and for his dream self.
In 1x10, he believes he has been fired and lashes out. He is surprised Rebecca even knows his name, an echo of the first episode, and it turns out he has been promoted. He is so excited about this that he keeps blowing his whistle at inopportune times out of zeal. Later, he mourns the loss with the team.
I just have no patience for people suggesting Nate isn’t the wonderful character we saw so many hints of in S1, alongside the signs that Nate might lose his way for a minute. All of us have the capacity to hurt and help within us; we are all struggling with the tug between ego and soul. The idea that Rebecca and Jamie deserved redemption but Nate doesn't is not only a terrible message for the show to end on, it’s also a bleak way to look at the world. Either we all deserve redemption, or no one does - or more accurately, it's not about deserving redemption but about earning it. That is what Rebecca and Jamie have been doing along the way, so it’s not too late for Nathan Shelley. He can, as Rebecca said in 1x09, get on the road back.
We are all worthy of love and empathy because we are human and make mistakes. We hurt people because we are damaged by interacting with a broken, human world. This show presents the central thesis that kindness and empathy is transformative, and that wanting violent revenge and retribution is an ego-driven desire borne out by pain and suffering.
We need to appeal to our best selves, always, by returning to our greatest strength: love.

Tom Hiddleston’s Loki remains one of the most popular characters in Marvel Studios’ cache of heroes and villains, even after more than a decade of service since his debut in 2011’s Thor. Now, after Season 1 of Loki made waves throughout its run on Disney+, it’s already set for a second round of episodes in the near future.
Loki became the first Disney+ show from Marvel Studios to be officially confirmed for a Season 2 in its sixth episode’s post-credits scene, although details are scarce beyond that news. It’s been confirmed that the entire cast will return for the continuation of Loki’s Disney+ story after the Multiverse began falling apart to close out Season 1 in July 2021.
Reports indicated that filming would begin for Season 2 early this month as Hiddleston and the Marvel team prepare to move the God of Mischief forward in his new journey alongside the Time Variance Authority. Now, it appears that this journey has officially begun thanks to a new image from the show’s set.
The God of Mischief Returns for Season 2
Cinematographer Isaac Bauman took to Instagram to share an image seemingly confirming that Season 2 of Marvel Studios' Loki has begun filming for its release on Disney+.
The image shows off his personalized chair from the set in front of a blue screen and some of his equipment, which comes directly from the show's set in London. Bauman also included a text caption that reads "Day 1, Just the beginning...:"
Tumblr media
Interestingly, Bauman has since taken the post down from his Instagram page, adding further credence to Loki beginning production.
What Will Loki Season 2 Be About?
Considering how many wild twists and turns Season 1 of Loki took, which even included a kid Variant and an alligator Variant of the leading character, the excitement for Season 2 is palpable.
With this photo confirming that the God of Mischief is back in action, the wait begins to see exactly how his story will expand in the MCU over the next couple of years. Filming should take place over at least the next six months, possibly even into the early part of next year, Moon Knight directing duo Aaron Benson and Justin Morehead are taking over the show and bringing Hiddleston back into the spotlight.
The story for Season 2 is even more of a mystery considering how Jonathan Majors' He Who Remains sent the Multiverse into complete chaos, which was a result of his death at Sylvie's hand in the Citadel at the End of Time. Tom Hiddleston has already teased just how "chaotic" things will be when his anti-hero returns to the forefront, and it will be hard to wait to find out exactly what kind of chaos and calamity will ensue.
Season 2 of Loki is currently filming, and it's release date on Disney+ is still unknown.

Heartstopper season 2 play-by-play analysis
We’re in Paris! I can’t believe the Paris trip takes up so much of the time of the season. I do love the pacing of the season, and how they distributed events and moments throughout it, making the most of the locations and situations. I know that most interior scenes were filmed back in the UK, but they really squeezed as much as they could from their stay in Paris (and I need all the bts content from that, what we’ve gotten so far is not enough!). Like Trixie Mattel and Katyana said, only two things can shut down the Louvre: Beyonce and Hearstopper, apparently, who would have thought? It felt like such a nice change of scenery, and really gave the show and the characters a whole new dimension.
On with the episode!
EPISODE 4 - CHALLENGE
Tumblr media
- The coach is Blue and Yellow™. And of course a lot of green, especially in the form of Charlie’s iconic green Fjällräven backpack and Nick’s hoodie.
- Nick being super sad about not sitting with Charlie, and Charlie trying to be all upbeat about it, and challenging him to not kiss him for two days. I love their banter.
- Tao’s miserable face as he realizes that, not only is Nick sitting with him for the trip, but Elle doesn’t want to sit with him either. And Nick is oblivious to the fact that the date didn’t go well…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- Ben clearly doesn’t realize how indiscreet he is about his fixation with Charlie. Even Isaac notices something strange is up.
- Ugh, I loooove how much we’re slowly inching our way to finding out more about Isaac. I love that he asks Charlie how he knew he liked Nick, and how he’s trying to figure out how this compares to how he feels about James. God, if that hasn’t been my entire life before I realized too…
- If nobody had told me that Kit Connor didn’t speak French before, I would have simply thought “wow, how lucky that they found the perfect Nick Nelson AND he happens to speak French already.” (I really don’t know if it sounds good or not, but it convinced me…) Also Nick’s little excited face when he’s talking to his dad, because he’s still excited about the possibility of seeing his dad, he hasn’t come to the realization that the effort should come from both parts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- Also Tao’s face when he realizes that Nick is speaking fluent French and he’s not hearing things. And their cute little bonding moment talking about it. Even when Elle looks over at them, they seem to be looking at something (on a phone?) and talking and laughing. Bonding!
- Mr Farouk actually having a little smile on his face when they’re finally in Paris.
- Ugh, seriously, what is up with Ben??? He doesn’t care about even playing it off for Imogen, and she very quickly catches on.
- “I thought you’d find it awkward sharing with Nick. Just standing next to Elle makes me feel like I’m being electrocuted.” I don’t think I’m quite on board with this completely, seeing as in the show Tao already knows about Nick and Charlie… I thought it would have made more sense if he’d been more like “I just want to make sure that there’s no hanky-panky whilst we’re all in the same room,” and then Charlie could get all flustered and go “ugh you sound like my dad, and no, we’re not doing any of that, not yet…”
- But I love that we got the handholding scene across the space between the beds.
- The teachers being so awkward and adorable. Now kyth!
Tumblr media
- Tao should have apologized to Elle for what he said, but at least he extended an olive branch in the form of a bottle of apple juice. And she accepted.
- The dynamic between Nick and Charlie has seriously become so perfect and in tune, the way that Joe and Kit riff off each other whilst being perfectly in character is just chef’s kiss.
Tumblr media
- Darcy interrupting the kiss made me think of an ideal world in which Darcy gets adopted by Sara, and the Golden Retriever siblings fight about stupid things all the time, like who’s more in love with their respective partner, and who do they think Nellie loves more, and she continuously barges into Nick’s room when Nick and Charlie are making out and goes “sorry for interrupting the gayness, but I can’t find my phone charger, can I borrow yours? Thank you, my twin. You may proceed with the gayness.”
Tumblr media
- “I need a drink. An alcoholic drink.” “We probably shouldn’t drink.” “I need a croissant then”. Number one on the quotes that I’m glad made it right off the comic page.
- “Mischief maker. I’ve influenced you.”
Tumblr media
- The I heart Paris hoodie, and Darcy touching the bust’s boobs. Peak Darcy.
- James saying that it’s nice to be with other gay people, and Isaac looking a bit uncomfortable… honey, just because doesn’t seem to respond to people of the opposite sex doesn’t automatically make them gay. Unless he’s using gay as an umbrella term…? Instead of queer…? James knows about Darcy and Tara, and about Charlie, but he doesn’t know about Nick, or presumably Sahar. He’s making assumptions about Isaac.
- Nick not getting why people continue to be fascinated by the fact that he speaks French, or the fact that his dad is French. He’s such an oblivious little pumpkin.
- And that heart to heart between Charlie and Tara. “Me and her were all that mattered.” And Tara being jealous about how Charlie and Nick talk about their feelings.
Tumblr media
- The Tao and Elle conversation and whole cutesy montage. And Tao making the French tourists crouch for the photo and everything, figuring out how to talk to them without actually speaking French.
- Peak Ben Hope, seeing Nick waving at Imogen and immediately pulling her toward him, in this horribly possessive manner. Glad that Imogen got fed up with him and bolted. Poor thing has been miserable since arriving at Paris because of Ben, and she at least approaches Nick’s group to ask if she can hang out, which could not have been easy (especially to Nick, with whom she had a disagreement).
Tumblr media
- By the way, Imogen in her Paris outfit is giving off major Margot Robbie in Barbie vibes.
- Elle asking Imogen if she even likes Ben, which you can tell that Nick so badly wanted to ask (Elle and Nick even exchange knowing glances), but he didn’t because he knew that he had already tried to warn Imogen about Ben, and maybe she won’t listen to him, but she’ll probably listen to another girl.
- Imogen jumping on the TaoElle ship. “Maybe I don’t have the best track record in relationships (looks knowingly at Nick and he laughs), but I think being honest is better than living with regret”. Yes, Imogen. Like when she took a chance and told Nick that she liked him and then asked him out, and even though he didn’t reciprocate, they still ended up as friends, and he’s so protective of her, and he’s probably the best friend she didn’t know she needed.
- Nick internalizing what Imogen just said too.
- Will Gao is so histrionic, I adore him.
Tumblr media
- The whole montage of Mr Farouk arguing (is he arguing? Sorry, but to me French men always sound like their arguing) with the waiter without any subtitles, and then going something about no onions and something else and “I’m serious, big man, I get bloated, it’s not funny, cheers”, made me think for a moment that I want to learn French just so that I can know what he was saying. (The moment has passed).
- The whole Nick and Charlie trying not to sit together all the time majorly backfiring when Ben ends up next to Charlie. The horror. Charlie turns his body toward Tao as much as he can without actually sitting sideways, and Nick is about to throw his whole body across the table.
- Detective Imogen is fully on it now, she’s about to blow this whole case wide open.
- I’ve had escargot and I’m never doing that again. It was fun to try, but yeah, I also felt bad for my terrible decision.
- I may never completely understand the magnitude of Charlie’s eating disorders, because I can’t imagine what that’s like (I used to think that I might have an ED because I’m often so particular about food, because of my anxiety, and at times textures and strong flavors can be overwhelming, but I’ve learned to deal with it, the way I managed to overcome it on my own was kind of similar to the way that Noora from SKAM did, but it was never of the magnitude of Charlie or Noora), but I understand the pressure of “oh shit I ordered this and now I have to eat it because people are watching but I really don’t want to” and fearing making myself sick because of the pressure and the shame and the anxiety of feeling trapped in that situation. Made worse, in Charlie’s case, by Ben sitting next to him and actively looking at him.
- “I haven’t spoken to you in ages”. Sir, that is not a coincidence, there’s a reason for it. Don’t pretend like you don’t know it, SIR.
Tumblr media
- I love the panicked look on Nick’s face as Ben starts talking to Charlie. He had seen the seating arrangement and panicked, but then he relaxed for a bit, probably thinking “nah, this asshole wouldn’t dare try to say anything to Charlie in front of everyone, he wouldn’t be so bold”, but then Ben is inexplicable… So Nick nearly rushes off his seat to Charlie’s side to do what? Ask Ben to switch seats with him? Just wedge himself in there until the meal is over? He probably has not a clue what he’ll do but by GOD he will stop this interaction before his boyfriend has to endure it any longer.
- Imagine being Ben (just for a painful second), being so self-centered, being so preoccupied with the paranoia of people watching you all the time and watching your every move and trying to figure you out, that you’d go around being an asshole, especially to the boy that you “like”, to the point where those actions and shitty attitude lose you said boy, only for you to lose all self-awareness when in proximity to said boy, and you’re suddenly staring at him openly, trying to strike up a conversation, and not getting the fucking hint that said boy doesn’t want to talk to you, doesn’t even want to look at you. Imagine those walls crumbling down but you’re absolutely convinced they are still up. Imagine that now people can see right through you and call you out, and you get defensive and start calling them names… Imagine being down so bad for someone (or whatever feelings that you might think you have for said boy) that you’re not even making sense anymore, even later boldly telling said boy’s boyfriend that you want said boy back (even though said boy’s boyfriend is basically twice your size and hates your guts and could probably knock you out with a single punch). Imagine…
- But then imagine being Charlie, a curly-haired human embodiment of sunshine and rainbows, and having to sit next to your ex/assaulter. Period.
Tumblr media
- Imogen going off on Ben like we all love to see it, but let’s face it, she was kinder than I expected her to be, by telling him he has issues that he needs to resolve. Go to therapy, Ben! Your energy’s off, Ben! She’s basically telling him what Charlie will repeat in other words later, about him working on himself to be better before he hurts somebody else.
- She calls out Ben for being obsessed with Charlie twice very loudly. Ben would rather chew off his own hand before admitting it, but Imogen hit the nail right in the head. ( kinda want to be given a reason why not one of Charlie's friends jumped up at that, like "wait, what is this about Ben Hope being obsessed with you?" unless they're waiting for Charlie to bring it up himself it at all. But seeing Charlie's reaction, and Nick's horrified face, you'd think they'd be a little curious as to what that is about...)
Tumblr media
- And Elle smiling when Imogen says that it’s time she focuses on herself. Yes, Imogen, stop thinking about boys for a while, and focus on what you want.
- I have rewatched everyone’s faces so many times: from the guy over Imogen’s shoulder laughing and trying to look over, to James catching all the tea, to all of Ben’s mates sniggering, but my favorite is that boy between Ben and Harry with the super-expressive eyebrows very dramatically questioning Ben’s whole attitude.
- As everyone’s been saying, when even Harry Greene calls you out, you know you’ve hit a low point.
- Nick and Charlie coming to comfort Imogen, and her questioning if she should have done that so publicly (the answer is Yes, because he very publicly treated you very badly too, so… tit for tat). And her wanted to make sure if maybe something happened between Ben and Charlie, but then saying it doesn’t matter as soon as she sees how uncomfortable it makes him.
Tumblr media
- And her saying that it would be easier if she liked girls, which… how many times do women in general say that? Relationships aren’t easy, no matter who you love, but there’s a preoccupying trend if the consensus is that ‘if sexuality was really a choice, the number of women who would choose to be lesbians is very very high’. What does that say about straight cis men, in general?
- Tao finally getting his head out of his own ass long enough to realize that Nick is really trying to bond with him.
- Tao about Elle “she’s everything, I’m just Ken”.
- Nick being adorable telling him that he thinks Tao is also all those things, and telling him that he does like him.
- I thought that Tao’s whole plan was giving Nick and Charlie privacy by dragging Isaac to the vending machin (And Charlie and Nick making the most of that little privacy). But it’s so sad when you realize that it was because Nick said the word “loudly” to describe him, and it made him remember that it was his loudness that outed Charlie last year. Poor baby.
Tumblr media
- Seriously, the chemistry this season is off the charts, the intimacy between Nick and Charlie is so beautiful and warm and Kit and Joe are magical. And the way that they’re always checking with each other. “Is this okay?” A very enthusiastic "YEAH”, “we should stop”, “okay.” Love them.
- Isaac falling asleep with the book on his face is so relatable. How many times have I woken up because I fell asleep reading and the book just smacked me in the face? Too many to count.
- Charlie’s little “oh f—” cut to music.

CBS Ghosts - Hello! - Game's Over, Sam's Done
Warning - Spoilers May Appear
Tumblr media
Clearly, the best way to get Thor to leave them alone is for him to get to watch his viking fellows on TV.  He’s SO into it, I love it.
I wonder if he always uses his TV time just for this?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jay’s just like “Why waste utilities” and Thor goes from being peacefully distracted by the mission to drive Sam crazy because Jay’s trying to save money and can’t hear him.
Poor Sam - she had inadvertently gotten one to leave her alone, only for Jay to ruin it.
I do love Thor calling Jay “Small Man”.  I wonder if the TV was enough for him to come around to the idea that they could stay as long as he can see Vikings? Because his demand was just to watch TV.
Also, not really shown in this scene, but the ghosts are easily distracted - Thor with the TV, Isaac and Trevor with Hamilton, Hetty and Flower with the hole in the wall.  Like Half the ghosts abandoned the plan the second they found something more interesting.
I'm convinced the only ones into the Mission are Pete, Sass and Alberta. I wonder why? Sass - drama? Alberta - her murder? But Pete? Very Curious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I burst out laughing at the Cholera ghosts - if it isn’t mr fix it.
They’re mocking him and he has no idea and it cracks me up so much.
Stewart should have gotten Nancy’s screen time, honestly.  He's so funny.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
HAHAHAHAHAHA
I KNOW WE’RE DEAD BUT HE’S TRYING TO KILL US!  - I love Stewart - he doesn’t pull back - he’s just like COME ON MAN.  Even though he KNOWS Jay can't hear him.
Those Cholera ghosts have some fun after all.
I love that they’re all yelling as if he can hear them - STOP IT MAN!
Tumblr media
OMG this is SO SAD!  Sam’s gotten to the point where she thinks that she’s having a Psychotic Break.   POOR SAM.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is SO interesting - Hetty was not a part of the whole “drive her to acknowledge us” plan.  BUT because of JAY, she’s now driving Sam crazy (when the ghosts IN on the plan have disappeared?) because she’s like “I can’t deal with a hole in the wall”.
Funny to note - Hetty’s struggling here and I can’t wait to see what she’s like in Season 3 when she actually shares a room with Flower.
Tumblr media
LMAO I love that Thor calls it a Sorcerer’s window - he’s like “damn it, woman, I just want to see my people.”
Poor Thor, it’s been so long but he misses his people. On the other hand, Sam's busy losing her mind, Thor.
Tumblr media
Aw, Sam.  My heart breaks for her.
Tumblr media
This is interesting.  Trevor does this thing where he was going someplace and then stops weirdly when he notices who he’s looking for has been found is in that room.  He does the same thing in the Christmas special - so I wonder if he was looking for Hetty at the time???
Anyway, Boy, Trevor doesn’t take rejection well.  Before he was just a poor puppy excited to find someone and connect with someone, now, he’s like ‘fine, I'll be better off without you’.
This leads into an interesting part of his psychology.  We know that he wants to be the big man around town, he wants to be the center of attention, he wants to have a connection with someone, and he wants to be included and wanted.
And when he doesn’t get these things - he feels down and sad - which we see in one of the opening scenes, but quickly, he goes on the offense.  It’s only been like a day and Sam’s going through hell, but he (like ALL of the ghosts) only thinks about what he’s feeling and rejecting it.  He wants to mask his negative feelings and project them onto Sam.
Thus, going for an offensive attack to get her attention - and it works, somewhat.  But also, it probably worked in life, too, hence doing this.
Doesn’t excuse him, but I do think that he didn’t do this just to be a jerk, but because he’s just trying to deal with his own emotions in the wrong way is interesting. It doesn't make him any worse than the other ghosts that do the same in various instances.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, I think he didn’t start with it because he’s not really *that guy*.  He’s only doing it now because he couldn’t handle the rejection (which ISN’T okay). And he backs off quickly when she runs away to the hospital. We never see him do this, again.
Also, what is that face, Thor? You’re just like ‘whatever’.
And Hetty’s too busy trying to get Sam’s attention to interact with what Trevor’s doing here?  You’d think she’d defend her. Since she does - sort of - like Sam.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
POOR SAM - She’s just like “God this is terrible”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trevor, boy, there’s nothing genius about this.  But I do love them all chasing her to the stairwell.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
APPARENTLY, SAM CAN ESCAPE THEM - evidence?  They don’t go downstairs because “they are terrifying” - how are they terrifying??? I need to know.
is it because they smell? Is it because they are different? I just - need to know.
Thanks for reading! Feel free to reach out and chat :)

Thoughts from planes with Zee (an unhinged and incomplete list) Part 2
Hey friends! I traveled again, which means I wrote down every unhinged thought I had. Part 1 of this post is from August and you can find it here. And if you haven't heard my insane travel story yet, you can find it here.
Some of these are headcanons, some are random thoughts, some are responses to posts I saw while I was travelling. I wouldn't say any of these are particularly controversial, but I can see where people could disagree with me so everyone know that almost everything is a joke and should be taken with a grain of salt. Love you.
Do you think Wille went straight to Felice after the ball and was all giddy and telling her about the kiss? I think about this every day. Did he teenage freak out over it with his best friend? Does Felice know?
Of all the random shit I put into Screwed about Erik, I think the funniest might be: Erik not being able to say anything other than “he’s pretty” when he meets Simon for the first time, and Erik’s least favorite month ironically being November.
Wilhelm wears sweatpants on planes so he has pockets and Simon wears pajama pants, making Wilhelm hold everything for him.
Just saw a post that said “Edvin looks at Omar like he’s in love with him” and after I’ve finished cringing, my response to that is: everyone looks at Omar that way. It’s Omar.
Simon listens to the Beatles, but he does it in secret. Wilhelm only knows because he found the records in his room. Wilhelm, to this day, is the only person who knows.
Thinking about how Henry didn’t think to knock on Wilhelm’s door because he probably knew after the locker room interruption just how heartbroken Wille was and therefore assume Wilhelm wouldn’t have anyone in his room. Henry didn't knock because Henry understood everything about Simon without being told.
Stella screams at airline representatives while Fredrika cries about plans being ruined.
Wilhelm loves the rain
Concept: season 3 opens with another dream like season 2 did, but this time it’s August and Sara. (Prompted by the song love, or the lack thereof by Isaac Dunbar)
I truly and utterly appreciate Young Royals for showing what it is actually like for a teenager with anxiety to be forced into therapy. Like you don’t want to be there. For a while you do just sit in silence. But slowly you open up. It isn’t just "lay on the couch and share all your feelings" and then you’re suddenly better. It’s a process. It takes time. ESPECIALLY when you don’t want to be there. Just… god I’m crying about it again.
Nils gives Tony Award worthy performances in his kitchen with a wooden spoon as a microphone. Change my mind. You can’t.
Maddie is the first person in their year to get a license, but no one will get in a car with her behind the wheel.
I feel like Walter is a Billie Eilish fan, but won’t admit it.
Fredrika can sing every Hanna Ferm song from memory
Stella sucks on lollipops because people got annoyed with her chewing gum.
The entire Hillerska student body teases Wilhelm about not knowing Simon’s song was about him. They tease him for years. The administrators catch onto the teasing too and it’s mentioned subtly in their graduation address. None of the parents can understand why the entire student body started laughing at the headmistress’ speech, and they don’t understand why the crown prince is annoyed when he starts his own speech.
Felice started learning Russian as a joke and now she actually speaks Russian and uses it often even though no one can understand her.
Somewhat off topic, woke up rn to an Omar song, and was nice.
Every rumor at Hillerska can be traced back to either Walter or Fredrika. They didn’t mean to, they just literally cannot keep their mouth shut.
Henry watches ice age when he’s sick
Moulin Rouge AU
Thinking about ✨that✨ scene again
If any of them were going to be a greyhound runaway, it would be Sara
Follow up to that one^: Would like to see a fic where August is a greyhound runaway. Like canon still happens, but after s2 he just decides to run from his problems.
Somewhere in Hillerska Erik graffitied his name
Off topic again, but noise canceling earbuds are a god send
Felice+Adele. Send tweet.
Want something to fuck you up? Actor for Nils is older than actor for Erik.
Breaking up with my gf was such a good idea knowing what I know now💀
Madison loves flying. In comparison, Nils would rather die
Omar songs + sunrise part 2
I have never been more convinced that Vincent listens to fallout boy unironically
Simon drinks peppermint Mochas
Rowing team blamed their loss on “karma”
Wilhelm has a crippling fear of being forgotten, but more so he has a debilitating fear of Erik being forgotten.
Things I have now done: had a panic attack at 30,000ft (twice)
Felice makes sure everyone else eats and then forgets to eat
Nils and night drives
Carefully by Ben Platt is Wilhelm season 2
Jag hatar mannen bredvid mig.  han gjorde ingenting.  Jag är bara arg på hela världen.
If Dani and I started a podcast, would people listen to it?
I hope Henry knows the names of Simon’s fish. Like maybe not right now in the canon story, but at some point. I feel like he’d appreciate the fish having names .
I wrote the beginning of a fic and I think it’s like kinda good but I did write it at 2am so maybe I’m just tired
Is It Just Me? By Emily Burns is about to become the most painful Wilmon edit. Try me. One like and I’ll do it.
Sara can’t swim
Was thinking about a 1950s AU and then realized I have no reason for them to be in the 50s. Like why do they need to be in the 50s? Poodle skirts? That’s literally it.
Growing Sideways by Noah Kahan is a Hangman Song. This is a top gun thing. Specifically Aftershocks fic by @the-navistar-carol.
How… how are people gonna watch a show in which Edvin plays a queer character, and makes out with another man, and then accuse him of being homophobic? How do you even-?
Sometime in the future August gets sober and people more mature than him begin to forgive him. Not because he deserves it, but because they don’t want to put the energy into being angry anymore.
I want Omar to start yelling at people. Like he has to want to yell at people at this point. I think he should.
Ayub 100% knows every detail of Wilmon. He is a walking Wilmon dictionary. Simon told him everything. Like he could tell you where Wilhelm’s least favorite freckle was or some shit even though he’s never asked Wilhelm about it, nor has he seen the freckle.
Vincent’s guilty pleasure movie is Chicago and his ringtone for August is “cell block tango” aka "he had it coming."
Paparazzi catch Wille teary eyed, and it becomes a big “Boys DO Cry” Moment but really he just saw a really cute dog or some shit
Wilhelm asks “would you still love me if I was a worm” and Simon replies “yes” without hesitation
And that's every thought I felt like writing down. I hope it was delightfully unhinged. Much love to all of you.

Review of Sex Education. I Guess.
Well, I've just finished the last episode of the last season of Sex Education, and I'm sad that it's over, but everything has to have an ending.
I'm going to share what I like and dislike about the show overall from S1 to S4.
So... spoilers.
Scroll away immediately. RUN AWAY FROM THE SPOILERS.
Ready? Ok.
I might not say every bad or good thing I think about in the show since some are already obvious. For example, "Mr. Groff was so bad! He showered all the personal problems of his students by stealing Jean's journal AND berating poor Adam. Obvious bad." or "OMG, it represents LGBTQIA+. It's a slayyyy ✨," y'know?
Adding what I love below the likes and dislikes.
Likes
Despite having dozens of sex scenes and the like, I like that the plot is engaging, and it made me want to watch more and see the characters grow.
The characters are all unique and everyone makes you "feel," you know? Characters that come into mind that are unique to me are Lily, Rahim, Erin, Isaac, Cal, Jean, Joanna... it's a long list. You can really connect with the characters. It's sad we couldn't see everyone off.
I love Adam's development and his newly-found self-worth of his sexuality. I'm glad he's pacing things slowly and coming out when ready. Even when he decided to stay away from school, he seemed to know that he needed to heal first from the breakup and the broken family he had. The ending for him and his family made me happy to see.
The center relationship that got repaired for its ending was Eric and Otis. It's great that it's a platonic one, and it's the characters that we first "grew up" with. (Romantic endings are overrated! /j)
I CRIED a lot. Especially at S4. Goes to show that this show really can hit you in the feels when you least expect it.
I felt happy for Maeve when she decided to go back to America and let her teacher's comments slide. Not everyone can agree with what you're doing, but there is always someone who absolutely loves the work that you have done. It's sad that the main romantic couple is gone, but it's all for growing to be better people.
How they show people grief can differ, depending on how close the person was to them. Sean sees the negatives since he is the eldest and sees his memories with Erin badly, while Maeve sees it in the middle of both positive and negative since she's the middle child, but gives a respectful and proper farewell to Erin. As for Elsie, since she's the youngest, (just my assumptions) probably sees Erin in a good light since she's been trying to come clean for her and her older siblings.
However, what happened to them in S3 maybe traumatized her, but who knows? They're just my assumptions. We don't know if Elsie knows Erin is dead since Elsie is still very young. Maybe she does since S4 doesn't tackle more of Maeve's relationships with Elsie and Anna. Only briefly in S3, I think. Still in shock and sad that Erin died.
Dislikes
O is quite the problematic character, but I'm glad to see that character development. At first, I thought she mentioned she was asexual as an excuse to answer why she ghosted the students/clients, but it wasn't at all. I still stand that your sexuality shouldn't cloud your mind while you're trying to be professional, especially when talking to someone who needs help. Even when you're asexual or queer, and you know your stuff, don't let your sexuality cloud you too much. Keep doing what you're doing best.
I never liked how Otis can also be problematic, despite being a good kid too. I know that teenagers mess up (from what I call it, the "messing up/fucked up" stage in your life), and here's a word of advice: Think before you act and don't over/underthink.
I didn't like that Eric cheated in his first two relationships. There would have been a better way instead of full-front cheating like... idk... communicate. I mean, Eric did speak to Adam about it, but after Eric cheated. I still felt bad for Rahim. Even though, imo, I thought the relationship was too quick.
There's a lot of couples that get into relationships quickly.
Despite being the main antagonist for S3, I felt horrible for Hope. Maybe it's just the Asian in me talking, but she was only trying to clear the school's reputation of being called "Sex School." Who would want to let their kid attend a school that's being called "Sex School" by the locals? Especially if it was your alma mater. Yes, there's stuff she did wrong as the principal (weird promotion of abstinence, disrespecting the LGBTQIA+, humiliating punishments, manipulating students, etc.), but was she entirely bad? Maybe. If only she was more open-minded and kinder, S3 would have been different. Then again, she was very stressed since she was infertile and wanted to have a baby with her husband, but wasn't successful.
There was a lot that happened in S4. Lots of new characters we will never see again. Old characters we never saw again. A lot of experiences were compiled together, but it's a good pacing, at least. It would have been bad if the entirety of S4 was compiled into one big movie. The pacing would be way off.
Loves
I love the ace representation back in S2. A few months after discovering I was asexual, there was a lot of ace erasure back then, and I felt relieved to see that representation and not to be ashamed to be who I am.
With Otis and Maeve breaking up in the end, it gives us an open-ended interpretation of what happens to them. For me tho, I'm glad to see that representations that breakups can also be a happy yet healthy end (It's always hard for me to share that, and people kept saying "sanaol" whenever I shared that half of my breakups ended nicely).
Breakups are always shared as a negative, but they can be positive if both parties agree without any malice or unshared feelings. Despite missing and still having feelings, both don't want to hold each other back to the objectives the other is trying to achieve. I love that.
Talking about breakups, let's talk about Michael Groff and Maureen. I love that Michael improved himself, not only for Maureen but for Adam as well. I love that the once-broken family is now back together and learned from the experiences they went through.
Aimee finding herself and now standing up against men (cat-calling, abuse, harassment, etc.) through her actions, and a new perspective on art is outstanding, and I'm happy that she can be assertive (in a good way). The same goes for Viv with her latest ex. After that one jealousy moment and it kept coming up, I had the suspicion he'd be toxic AND HE WAS. BROOOO (So proud of them)
Also, proud of Ruby for having the "feels" because of the school. She even declined Otis' offer to be friends again, cuz she knows far too well that it would lead her to heartbreak again. YOU GO GIRLLLL
All the inclusivity represented is powering for everyone who watches it. Addressing the lack of inclusivity made me so proud of Isaac and Aisha. Still made me mad that they left Aisha there (even when there was no fire), and the lift being broken for who knows how long. Not a lot of schools can afford that, but at least others try by adding in ramps. THEY HAVE A SLIDE LIKE 👁️👄👁️...
Despite O being problematic, when she expressed her life and how she felt as a closeted ace, it made me relate to her because I had forced myself to fit in like her but not to the point of bullying others or someone I was close with (My school advocated kindness and being helpful to everyone and anyone, and there weren't any reports or acts of bullying at all).
I wasn't upset when a "crush" rejected me, and we remained close friends. Thanks to the media, I found it bizarre why my response was more chill than the *crying and sobbing like a middle schooler* so I began to pretend around 4th grade. I didn't feel like myself and felt something was wrong with me. Hearing heartbreak, crushes, love lives, and the drama of it drained me, and I didn't relate to the topics. Now that I think about it, I was all alone in my little bubble, and I relate to guys more than girls because of similar interests in video games. To this day, I still regret forcing myself to give this pendant I bought (for myself) to my best friend/ex when I was in 7th grade. My dad asked about it the day after I gave it away, and I pretended to not want to give it to him. Between my dad and the ex, I would have given it to my dad in a heartbeat because he was going abroad, and I didn't know when I would see him again. I love him to bits.
I think that's all I could think about right now. I've been writing for three hours like I'm Alexander Hamilton. That's my review, go watch the show as its final season came out two days ago. If you disagree or agree with my takes, let me know 💖🫰

elfcommie for the domestic meme
yesssssssss my GUYS!!!!! readmore bc i wrote u a novel
big spoon/little spoon: ike big spoon. what is the point of big husband if not get him to hold u
favorite non-sexual activity: getting out of the city together when they can : ) day trips and things
who uses all the hot water: they’re only using it all up if they’re in there together HEY-OH
most trivial thing they fight over: buying things from shitty companies. look obv the main chocolate companies are awful but sometimes a man wants a package of m&ms ok
who does most of the cleaning: they’re both pretty neat but probs caleb since ike is more likely to straight up just get busy and forget abt it (he feels bad when he does)
what has a season pass on their dvr/who controls the netflix queue: mostly caleb since ike isn’t usually a tv guy. when they occasionally make him pick it always ends up being something weird like they end up watching the sound of music
who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working: 100000% ike are u kidding. doesn’t help that i’m sure he knows a lot of the trade workers in the city shdjfk
who leaves their stuff around: caleb is more likely to in general but ike def leaves like half-read books and magazines around
who remembers to buy the milk: both of them. grocery game unmatched
who remembers anniversaries: also both of them!! caleb cares abt that kind of thing a lot more tho ike mostly keeps track of it and makes plans just bc he knows they like it
Who cooks normally? ike likes to cook but he doesn’t always make time for it. idt they eat together all the time anyway so usually they just heat up shit for themselves, if they are and aren’t eating out they’re probs cooking together
How often do they fight? they’re pretty good at communicating so not that often, when they do it’s less of a blow out argument and more of a “we can both be stubborn and we’re both frustrated w each other” vibe. and uhhh more often and more seriously after the feedback : )
What do they do when they’re away from each other? damn that’s the question huh shdjfkfks uhhh ike is known to overwork himself and was esp bad about it before they got together and i think he sometimes gets back into that habit when they’re not around. esp when things are stressful like he likes helping people but he also just likes to keep busy. they still try to encourage him to take time away even when they’re not there and when he actually does it’s probably either reading or going for extra long runs or picking up new hobbies or hanging w other people (caleb would claim that helping teammates w odd jobs is not taking a break but again ike likes keeping busy). caleb also hangs out with other people especially lou and rivers when they can. i think they like going out to bars and stuff too and will do that sometimes when ike isn’t with them just bc it’s extremely not his scene shdjfk. they do jock shit too like they practice sword fighting (tbh they may do more cardio without ike than w him. runs remind them of him now). but they also just! talk a lot. i really think they talk on the phone or face time pretty much every day unless something is happening that keeps them from doing so
Nicknames for each other? ok this is a thing ppl point out in my writing abt them but!! ike is always calling caleb baby like 9 times out of 10 is saying that instead of their actual name. caleb mostly calls him by his name but will sometimes call him like. affectionate teasing insults lol camp has discussed “pinche isaac ❤️” before
Who is more likely to pay for dinner? ike but at this point like i do think they share a bank acct shdjfkf
What would they get each other for gifts? caleb gets ike things that he wouldn’t buy for himself yk like things that are a little fancy or a luxury that he’d rationalize himself into not spending the money on. not literally a stand mixer but that sort of thing. idt ike is a good gift giver shdjfkf he gets them what they asked for/what lou or rivers suggests (or the gift is just like. we’re going away for the weekend! fancy dinner!! that kind of thing)
Who kissed who first? ike kissed caleb first. the man has game
Who made the first move? i’ve gestured at this before but !! i think ike tries to start smth very casual w them sometime in s10 and then gets rejected bc caleb has actual serious feelings for him and is freaked out about that and also the bloodsport of it all. anyways so that puts caleb in the driver’s seat so to speak when they actually do get together ike wasn’t gonna raise the subject again so they had to
Who remembers things? ike’s pretty organized but also things slip through the cracks so caleb
Who started the relationship? cleb : ) they pined a little it’s fine
Who cusses more? caleb does but ike has his moments
What would they do if the other was hurt? ike can and will work himself into a frenzy trying to take care of his injured husband. caleb is more normal about it but def like wants to make sure he’s doing alright and help out however they can
