#Father of Art Conservation
Text
Tumblr media
Harvard University has a library that protects the rarest colors in the world.
The Straus Center for Conservation and Technical Studies houses the Forbes Pigment Collection, which contains more than 2,500 samples of pigments, some incredibly rare and harvested from things like mummies, heavy metals, poisons, and precious minerals.
The collection was amassed by Edward Waldo Forbes (1873-1969), who directed Harvard's Fogg Museum, between 1910 and 1944.
Forbes is considered the Father of Art Conservation in the United States and spent most of his life traveling the world to collect various pigments that he used to authenticate classical Italian paintings.
The pigments are still used by art experts to authenticate and understand paintings.

Title: free days
Pairing: Bruce Wayne x male reader
Fandom: batman
Warnings: male reader, omegaverse, omega male reader, fluff, no heroes au, bat children are children, implied that they are (name)s bio kids
☁️🐟☁️🐟☁️🐟☁️🐟☁️🐟☁️🐟☁️🐟☁️🐟☁️🐟☁️
It was the ideal.
Giant alpha with a brooding expression and cold demeanour and peppy Omega who had enough conversation of six people, Bruce reading the morning paper as (name) enjoyed his breakfast sleepily in one of Bruce's shirts and a pair of boxers, both periodically taking sips of their drinks; Bruce a hot cup of black coffee and (name) a cup of (drink). "The zoo's snow leopards had cubs" Bruce mentioned casually, following the family "no bad news till after ten am" rule, (name) humming as he glanced to see the photo of the tiny cub "we should take the pups to see it" (name) mentioned, the Wayne family having donated a few million to help the conservation efforts the zoo was focused on.
"We can make arrangements, my darling" Bruce said to the other who beamed sleepily to his mate, Bruce feeling his heart warm at this.
The pups slowly piled in one by one, the smaller less formal dining area filled with sleepy littles, tweens and teens "Cassandra, stop stealing your brother's bacon" (name) said calmly as he stared off slightly, finally waking up a bit more as the pups ate their breakfast and Damian tried to copy how bruce are clumsily, the toddler absolutely fixated on Bruce these days "your lunches are on the counter in the kitchen, Dick remember that you are going to be accompanying your father today after school, Jason you are going out with your friends yes? I want you back home by 9:45--""ten?" "Get a good score on that test today and I'll consider it" "deal"
(Name) gave his kids their iteneraries as everyone ate and got ready for the day, little Damien and Helana letting their parents carry them to the nursery to be dressed for the day "alrighty little doves, let's get you in your outfits!" (Name) said to the two toddlers who let their parents dress them in clothes that they weren't worried would get messy, Damien in an adorable pair of shorts and a little shirt with a dog on it and Helena in a skort and a shirt that had Carmen Sandiego on it "you two ready?"
Today was their first class in martial arts, something all the children took as Bruce was consistently worried for their safety "they need to be able to defend themselves, what if we aren't there?!" He fretted behind closed doors, Damien looking excited and Helena bouncing as they and the rest of the family went to driveway "Tim, Jason behave or you drive with Alfred" and Alfred didn't get McDonald's before class, the two immediately stopping their nonsense as they followed Dick to his car and the others into the main family car, a town limo where the driver was ready for them. (Name) was thankful Damien kept his shoes on, sitting in his car seat separated from his sister with Cass between them "mama!" He yelled seriously "what is it dames?" "Oweo?" He asked almost confused and (name) tried not to laugh at the boys question "we can get Oreos after your lesson, yes"
Toddler martial arts was mainly just getting the little ones used to it, very clumsy and often times the little ones were more interested in their own feet than actually doing the lesson but it was a start "remember when dick was this little? He would only do anything if you held his hand?" (Name) said as they watched from the glass, little Damien and Helena practicing listening with the instructor and even learning the absolute basic stances, both excited to make noises and give wobbly little stances.
Bruce was happy when he could make time for his family, the tots passed out in their arms as they went to the limo "I'll be going to the office, prepare for the shadowing" Bruce gently kissed (name)s forehead and then lips as they smiled at one another "good luck" and with that they parted.
When night came, (name) was in bed reading a book when Bruce came in "how did it go?" (Name) asked as he blatantly watched Bruce undress into his boxers "it went well, he has been preparing for this since he was 11" Bruce walked to the bed and got in, moving (name) so he layed his chest against Bruce's as they smiled fondly at one another and gently kissed, (name)s hands gently holding into Bruce's sharp jaw as they enjoyed their time alone.
"I think I want another pup"
"Darling we have six children already"
"But baby?"
"Darling, the youngest two are just getting out of potty training"
"Fine" (name) playfully pouted as they cuddled, anyone outside the family would be intimidated by Bruce, though for his mate he was putty.
They weren't the perfect ideal of an alpha and omega but they were their ideal and that's all that mattered.

Sacheen Littlefeather (Apache/Yaqui/Ariz.), the Native American actress and activist who took to the stage at the 1973 Academy Awards to reveal that Marlon Brando would not accept his Oscar for The Godfather, has died. She was 75.
Littlefeather died at noon Sunday at her home in the Northern California city of Novato surrounded by her loved ones, according to a statement sent out by her caretaker. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which reconciled with Littlefeather in June and hosted a celebration in her honor just two weeks ago, revealed the news on social media Sunday night.
Littlefeather disclosed in March 2018 that she had been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, and it had metastasized in recent years. Brando had decided to boycott the March 1973 Oscars in protest of how Native Americans were portrayed onscreen as well as to pay tribute to the ongoing occupation at Wounded Knee, in which 200 members of the American Indian Movement (AIM) faced off against thousands of U.S. marshals and other federal agents in the South Dakota town. Speaking in measured tones but off-the-cuff — Brando, who told her not to touch the trophy, had given her a typed eight-page speech, but telecast producer Howard Koch informed her she had no more than 60 seconds — she continued, “And the reasons for this being are the treatment of American Indians today by the film industry … and on television in movie reruns, and also with recent happenings at Wounded Knee.” Littlefeather’s remarks were met in the building by a smattering of boos as well as applause, but public sentiment in the immediate aftermath of her appearance was largely negative. Some media outlets questioned her Native heritage (her father was Apache and Yaqui and her mother was white) and claimed she rented her costume for the ceremony, while conservative celebrities including John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and Charlton Heston — three actors who had starred in many a Western — reportedly criticized Brando and Littlefeather’s actions. As she was becoming an indelible part of Oscar lore, Wayne “was in the wings, ready to have me taken off stage,” she told the Los Angeles Times in 2016. “He had to be restrained by six security guards.”
Regardless, nearly 50 years later, the Academy issued her an apology.
“The abuse you endured because of this statement was unwarranted and unjustified,” then-AMPAS president David Rubin wrote to her in a letter dated June 18. “The emotional burden you have lived through and the cost to your own career in our industry are irreparable. For too long the courage you showed has been unacknowledged. For this, we offer both our deepest apologies and our sincere admiration.”
Although Brando’s stunt had the intended effect of renewing attention on Wounded Knee, Littlefeather said it put her life at risk and killed her acting career, claiming that she lost guild memberships and was banned from the industry. (In addition, the Academy subsequently prohibited winners from sending proxies to accept — or reject — awards on their behalf.)
“I was blacklisted — or, you could say, ‘redlisted,'” Littlefeather said in her documentary. “Johnny Carson, Dick Cavett and others didn’t want me on their shows. … The doors were closed tight, never to reopen.”
Littlefeather managed to appear in a handful of films (The Trial of Billy Jack, Johnny Firecloud and Winterhawkamong them) before she quit acting for good and earned a degree in holistic health from Antioch University with a minor in Native American medicine. Her work in wellness included writing a health column for the Kiowa tribe newspaper in Oklahoma, teaching in the traditional Indian medicine program at St. Mary’s Hospital in Tucson, Arizona, and working with Mother Teresa on behalf of AIDS patients in the Bay Area. She would go on to serve as a founding board member of the American Indian AIDS Institute of San Francisco.

something that stuck with me once, way back in middle school when i was still learning how to write - my teacher said "writing shock and tragedy is easy, it's humor that's the hardest."
i have been up and down the halls of academia. i have the fancy degree and the experience in publishing. i think i paved most of my own road with the little bricks of sorrow i had stored inside of me. i know i did it mostly with works that are blisteringly lonely. i know why we write like that. it's lifesaving.
but yeah, i mean. i also know how much people think that "sad" media is the same thing as "good" media. our human desire to connect is so hard-pressed that we immediately latch onto any broken themes. the bullied kids and the tales of inspiration. people keep saying things like "glass onion" and "everything everywhere" weren't actually good. because, you know, they're. happy. or happy-ish. happy enough. and we only value art if it's grimdark-adjacent.
do you know - people still consistently whine at me that my writing would be so good if i just capitalized things. i used to flinch. i get kind of a weird, vindictive little rush these days - i get to say thank you for the comment! i have chronic pain and this is how i conserve my hands so i can write more during the day :) grammar isn't real anyway! and now they're trapped in the room with me, you know? i get to pull out my map and show them how grammar is not the same thing as good writing.
writers have this thing. we scratch at our insides, constantly, prying our lives apart into splinters. prying the splinters apart into atoms. when we combust something into poetry, we control it. it cannot hurt us if it exists outside of us rather than burning a hole through the bottom of our lungs. it's not a wonder to me that so much of what i make comes out like a death gasp. i spent a long time at the bottom. i keep going back, too. when you're down there for so long, the only thing you can exhale is fumes.
but humor is hard. humor needs timing; which i can't promise in a paragraph. i can kind-of force it through careful spacing, but i have no idea how fast you're reading these things. humor needs a somewhat awareness of your audience, when really - anybody could be looking. humor needs us to understand what the joke is, why it's a joke, and to think - ha! that is funny. in tragedy, everyone understands the metaphor of a kicked puppy. in humor, you need to introduce them to the concept of a dog.
and forget about positivity. forget about anything not made for adults explicitly. every time i see a well-made children's media piece, i feel fucking horrible for the creators. most of the time, people see children's media as being sort of "not worth" applause, even though i'm pretty sure they have to work twice as hard. i have no idea how hard it must be to not be able to have your character just say. "well, fuck." something about a message of peace or friendship or caring - for some reason, that makes the media not for adults. like, okay. i'm pretty sure my father actually, out of all of us, could use a good book on how to control his temper and talk about his feelings.
but whatever. i write a short story about my ocd, and how it's fucking killing me. it gets an award. it gets published. i write a short story about my ocd, and how i'm overcoming it, and how my days are getting lighter and starting to flourish. i keep getting ghosted. no response. it just is lacking... something.
is this it, forever? you can be an artist, okay. but the trade off is that the things you make - if they're happy? if they're joyful? people will say it's stupid and pandering. you bite your nails off. you file your teeth. you hear something inside of you breaking.
the other day in a writing group, someone i'd thought of as a friend said: "you write so much better these days! i love what you make when you'd rather be dead."

Little Art things I'm obsessed with pt 1
Portraits of absent figures:
Tumblr media
David Hockney - A Bigger Splash, 1967
Hockney originally visited California in 1963 and was won over by the sunlight and laid-back lifestyle, especially the luxury and ubiquity of the swimming pool. He described it as his "promised land" The splash is about freezing a moment in time, but it is also empty of human presence but implying a human. The male figure is present in some of David's other works from this time period, especially his muse and then-partner Peter Schlesinger. These paintings are about a hedonistic gay lifestyle, and the swimmers, the divers, are often the subject of voyeurism and desire. But in this painting, we just missed the diver, which makes the object of desire more private and personal. Who was the painter looking at, lusting after, etc. I like the contrast of the incredibly sharp and graphic suburban neighborhood, and the chaotic, organic splash. So again, if the divers represent this homosexual desire, we have this contrast of an orderly heterosexual world, and the queerness that joyfully disrupts it.
And then of course, with the absent figure, there is this massive sense of loss and loneliness. And so much of loneliness is about concealment, hiding in shame. This is a private space, but its also an exposed space, enhancing the loneliness. The figure is isolated, alone, invisible. Its a sadness that contrasts with the setting, the activity, and saturated lighting.
Tumblr media
Felix Gonzalez-Torres - Untitled (billboard of an empty bed), 1991
These billboards were exhibited in the streets of Manhattan during the AIDS crisis. This piece was created the same year Felix Gonzalez-Torres's boyfriend Ross died. This portrait is a celebration of love and a memorization of loss and the emotions between intimacy and publicity. In the artist's own words:
“What I’m trying to say is that we cannot give the powers that be what they want, what they are expecting from us. Some homophobic senator is going to have a very hard time trying to explain to his constituency that my work is homoerotic or pornographic, but if I were to do a performance with HIV blood — that’s what he wants, that’s what the rags expect because they can sensationalize that, and that’s what’s disappointing. Some of the work I make is more effective because it’s more dangerous. We both make work that looks like something else but it’s not that. We’re infiltrating that look.“
The work intentionally uses the matching, identical depressions to imply a same-sex couple. The image itself is extremely intimate, but its being displayed in public spaces.
Felix Gonzales-Torres became known for his absent bodies.
Tumblr media
And then, a little different, this painting by Jacques Guillaume Lucien Amans (1837) commissioned by Frederick and and Coralie Frey, depicts the three Frey children, with the faint shadow of a figure. There was a legend that there was a fourth figure in this painting. In 2005 a private collector, Jeremy K Simien, purchased the painting and it underwent conservation.
Tumblr media
The painting revealed Bélizaire, a fifteen year-old enslaved domestic owned by the children's father. The picture captures the complex relationship between the boy and the children, the family that was keeping him captive. For one thing, the way he is set back from the others. There is this sort of intimacy between them along side the psychological trauma of forced bondage.
Here is a great Tiktok about the painting, to quote "What I'm struck by is what a sensitive portrait this is of this young man who was living in an inhumane society where he, despite being a human being, was bought and sold."
A few years after this painting was created, the three Frey children died, and Bélizaire was the only one who survived into adulthood.
The painting stayed in the Frey family. At some point, likely in the late 19th or 20th century, Bélizaire was intentionally painted over. In 1972, the great-granddaughter of Coralie Frey donated the painting to a Louisiana museum, informing them that a figure was painted over. During the course of the painting's life at the museum, no effort was put into restoring the figure.
Jeremy Simien's, who bought and restored this painting, said on his instagram "Bélizaire, they know your name now. Tell the ancestors to let me sleep for a minute."
And shout out to the picture that make me want to write this, Hyde Park Flowers, London by Tumblr user @kimironside I won't re-post it so check out the link.

I apologize for the long ask and if this question is a bit juvenile but objectively, how can one “gain” pretty privilege/gauge how they are viewed? I’ve done well in career pursuits for how early on I am ( I graduated in 2020) but started noticing that the invites to events/opportunities where one can really establish themselves not only professionally but socially, I was getting passed over by some higher up colleagues. In speaking to a female mentor who is related to my field and the same background as me (Black), she alluded that while my race may play a small factor in it, it’s more so my appearance that may be holding me back as the personality and poise is there. Some coworkers of mine who are brilliant and POC have similar credentials and positions as I and while we are all wonderful and hard working, they (who I feel are more beautiful and put together looks-wise) have discussed privately to me they have noticed a difference in treatment between us. While it’s not right, I am adult enough to know not to let things that can be fixed hinder the life I want. Your page is a wealth of information and I appreciate how encouraging you are!!
well. I’m going to be very blunt.
it’s all fun and games to say “oh fuck the beauty standards they’re terrible and they shouldn’t exist” yes, true, unfortunately they do exist and they play a bigger role than we imagine it to be.
the first thing you have to get right is your mindset.
you need to be strong enough to admit that you need changes in X, Y, Z area but not in A, B, C area. You also need to be a little loyal towards your racial identity (for the better or worse) because that’s what is going to make you stand out.
if you have a sensitive, overly emotional mindset and you get hurt very easily / become obsessive by nature, I highly recommend you to STOP reading now.
Understand what is considered pretty in your country and area. Even in one country, beauty standards can different from the north and south. Don’t exactly try to become attractive for the opposite sex but understand what they find attractive because these guys are your primary responders to your pretty privilege. Women will be kind on the surface and so it can be difficult to get constructive criticism from them.
Understand what YOU consider pretty. Who are the women who you think are crazy beautiful? What do they look like, dress like, how’s their hair and their make up, can you replicate any of it? Rule of thumb when it comes to hair and beauty - look at influencers / celebs who are of your racial background for the best fit.
there are always a few things that are universally considered “respectfully attractive” not “you wanna fuck me attractive”- semi modesty/ modesty outfits (my father always told me that when in doubt, go for a more conservative look), hygiene, well kept hair, clean nails and toe nails, soft skin, natural make up, natural hair colour, perfume, clothes that fit, skin care, a workout routine.
pretty privilege is not just the art of looking pretty. It’s also bringing in something of value on the table. Value = money / connections / knowledge/ humour / being the fun social person / whatever value the target group considers to be the most important for you to be relevant to them. Work on your soft skills. It’s better to look half baked but have solid soft skills than to look amazing and not know how to converse.
things that one normally notices when meeting someone new:
Skin - is it clear, is the make up overdone?
hair - is it messy or does it suit your face structure?
how you smell
teeth, when you talk - and dental hygiene
shoes - are they filthy?
shirt/ top - does it fit you well (always check that the seams on your shoulder and your actual shoulder line up), the colour of your clothes
body type, posture, how you carry yourself
start with incremental changes. Make a list of things you think you could improve on (this is not a list of “ugly” things, it’s an “improvement/ potential” list). Sort them according to ease of improvement (is this going to be expensive and difficult or affordable and easy?) and time (can this be done overnight or will it take some time).
Use point 1 and 2 only as launching pads. You do not have to look like Beyoncé, you’re simply understanding what her MUA and hair stylist does for her that could work for you. After a point, you have to ensure that YOUR identify sticks out and is still there, you’re not born to imitate someone else and also, it’s very obvious when someone is trying to be someone they’re not.
again. I repeat. If you’re going to get obsessive and make yourself sick over this it’s NOT WORTH IT. If you’re not mentally capable of making these changes, do not go through it.

Very very very upset about cagney not winning so I wanted to submit some propaganda as his number 1 shooter :( was he conventionally attractive? No… was he the scrungliest cutiest patootiest manlet ever? YES!!!
Tumblr media
Some fun facts for you… his first onstage appearance was as a chorus girl (top row, second from left with the killer arms hehe.) He actually had such bad stage fright that he would get sick before going onstage :(( which is hard to believe given the confidence that he exuded onscreen! According to James himself, he didn’t even really have a passion for acting that landed him on Broadway, to him it was ‘just another job.’
Tumblr media
Despite a genuinely rough upbringing which influenced a lot of his ‘hoodlum’ characters, he was the complete opposite of the characters he played, apart from definitely being a mama’s boy, much like many of his gangster roles hehe c: He loved animals, art, sailing (despite suffering from severe seasickness hhh) and gardening. He was nicknamed the ‘faraway fella’ by his dear friend Pat O’Brien because of his introverted nature. Here are some of his drawings and paintings. He actually attended Columbia to study art, but had to drop out when his father died in 1918.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He raised horses later in life on his land in Martha’s Vineyard, Verney Farm (a combination of Cagney and his wife’s maiden name, Vernon. He was married to his wife, affectionately nicknamed Billie, for 60+ years until his death.) He was so interested in farming that he was awarded an honorary degree in agriculture from Rollins College, and when accepting the degree, he submitted a paper on soil conservation… what a silly little guy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
James was also a talented boxer—owing to his street fighting youth—and ballplayer. If he hadn’t been an actor, he may have made the major leagues!! Speaking of career changes, he was nicknamed ‘the great againster’ for his constant walkouts from Warner Bros. following contract disputes. On more than one occasion, he threatened to quit Hollywood to become a dentist or a doctor like his brother lolll. Most importantly, he was one of the founders of the Screen Actors Guild and fought hard for actors’ rights!! Here are some pics of him boxing/wrestling … I love when those strands of hair would fall out over his forehead :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway I have so much more I could say but this is getting long so I’ll stop here… I just love him so much!!! He was a sweetheart and a cool guy!!! As someone said, this is the verified short king lover website, so SHOW IT!! Vote cagney!!

I don't necessarily disagree with your take on David Lynch but I feel like at least part of Twin Peaks is about deconstructing or questioning the myth of the idyllic small town, like everyone in Twin Peaks has a dark secret, most of the men were abusing or complicit in abusing a teenage girl, etc. and the Return to me is about showing that it's kind of fundamentally impossible to return to that glamorized nostalgic past. I could totally be missing something though.
wow ok this was my most controversial david lynch statement yet... so first of all i disagree that there's any tension between the kind of conservative nostalgia i see in lynch's work, and the idea that the past is impossible to return to. in fact i think that kind of lament is pretty central to quite a lot of reactionary rhetoric: it's that emotional appeal of, look what we've lost / damaged / destroyed forever. it doesn't need to be a coherent political platform because it's an appeal on the grounds of pathos.
anyway if i can just quote from my own post lol:
i simply cannot read the series in any way besides as being deeply conservative lol. this becomes especially clear to me in 'the return’, which is largely motivated by a narrative of the loss of american innocence (the double r subplot, the numerous instances of drugs and violence tearing nuclear families apart, the encroachment of electricity and processed snack foods and gambling, &c). but this viewpoint is seeded too throughout the first season-and-change of the original series, and fwwm; because what was laura palmer if not the series’s first use of rape as metonymous for what lynch sees as a broader process of social breakdown and irreversible change? i understand that some people try to read bob and laura as a critique of the family, in the sense that the violence comes through the father, but i don’t think this reading holds even in the original series and it certainly doesn’t after part 8 of 'the return’, in which bob is explicitly and directly invoked in reference to the bombing of hiroshima and nagasaki, here construed as an originary act of american evil.
i think in david lynch’s mind, the spiritual forces and influences in the show are literal and apolitical, and frequently he seems to mean to depict them more as sources of artistic inspiration than anything else ('twin peaks’ is in many ways a tv show about making a tv show, hence the double use of electricity throughout 'the return’ and fwwm, in particular). but i find this really irritating frankly, because it’s at best ignorant of the inherently political nature of the constructions of small-town americana, teenage innocence, violence as an act of moral corruption, and so forth—and also because, after the return, it’s simply impossible to deny that the show’s overarching narrative IS plugged in to political and historical lines of critique. like, i am not trying to 'force’ a reading that deals with us imperialism—lynch put the show on this discursive terrain explicitly and deliberately, through not just the bomb footage and the penderecki threnody but also the inversion of classic symbols of american 'greatness’ (the unlucky penny, the evil lincoln impersonator), culminating again in the violation of a young girl’s body by the forces of evil. what this all adds up to is the invocation of american empire as a kind of universal moral struggle, stripped of its historical specificity or even the barest pretense of material critique or commentary. if it sounds like i’m asking too much of network television… i mean, maybe i am, but again, these were deliberate choices lynch made and specific historical events he invoked on purpose, lol. see also the jacoby trump commentary in 'the return’ (cringe and yawn).
i’m not a lynch scholar but i do think there’s a tension throughout his work (what i’ve seen) between the desire to make art about what he sees as the purely spiritual process of making art (heavily informed by his own TM beliefs), and the conservative elements that creep in anyway, noticeable especially in his commentary on american history, corruption, modernity, &c. the idea of any pure, transcendent, apolitical spiritual dimension of human existence is itself, i would argue, at best a misguided conservative fantasy, and 'twin peaks’ ultimately shows these cracks more blatantly than some of his other work (say, 'inland empire’) because it tries to subordinate the material to the spiritual in a kind of fantastical historical parable. but, you can see this recurring tension throughout his filmography, eg, the loss of small-town innocence ('blue velvet’) and a kind of generalised modernity anxiety ('eraserhead’, though taken on its own this one would permit other readings depending on how you interpreted the role of german expressionism in it).
i don’t think lynch is an ideologue or even considers himself particularly political, but nevertheless his narratives do idealise a certain conservative vision of post-war america, mourn its loss, and wax nostalgic for its perceived ethos (& it’s not a coincidence lynch is/has been a reaganite, lol). anyway, i thought 'twin peaks’ had some really incredible moments of visual artistry (part 8 of 'the return’, for example!) and i found much of it frankly beautiful and compelling to watch. so, i don’t mean any of this to dismiss lynch as a filmmaker—he is, if nothing else, highly technically adept.

Girl With The Crooked Smile: David Hale x Reader
Tumblr media
Tagging: @kmc1989 @hatersaremymotivators @bennykk @kelpies-shed
Companion piece to Graffiti, Crime Wave, Distraction Art School & Feminism
Tumblr media
It’s your smile that David falls in love with, the way the left side of your mouth quirks up just a little higher than the right. It makes something warm blossom in his chest as you catch him watching you over his coffee cup. His cheeks flush as you laugh and he tries to hide his own grin by taking another sip.
This feeling, he’s never had it with anyone else. He’s never felt so light, so free.
It’s the first time you’ve stepped outside in Charming as a couple. You’re sitting in the diner waiting for your pancakes to arrive. Usually your dates take place in Stockton closer to where you live but you’d wanted to see his place, his world and honestly he’d liked having you there, amongst his things, in his bed.
“Are you sure you want to be seen with me?” You asked him when he’d offered to take you out for breakfast. It’s the first time he’s seen you unsure of anything.
“Why wouldn’t I?” He asks you, his thumb ghosting over your cheek as he looks into those beautiful eyes of yours. A man could lose himself for hours when he looks at you, David has several times.
“You’re the Deputy Chief and I’m…”
You trail off and it takes him a minute to decipher what the problem is. You know his family is political, his father was a county judge and his brother’s on the town council. All the men in his family hold positions of power, they chase wealth, vote conservatively and discuss optics. They expect David to do the same.
You subvert all of that.
You’re an outspoken feminist, who creates art and makes her living from taking off her clothes.
It’s going to be the talk of the town and David could not find himself giving less of a fuck. He’s so stupidly in love with you, he doesn’t give a shit who knows it.
“You are beautiful, sexy and fiercely talented.” He’d told you, completing your sentence as his forehead had come to rest on yours. “And I am lucky to have you in my life.”
You’d blushed then and David, he had kissed you until you were breathless underneath him all over again.
“I meant what I said.” He says as he sits across from you in the diner, his fingers entwining with yours. “I’m incredibly lucky you chose to be with me.”
“I don’t think luck had anything to do with it.” You tell him, your thumb chasing along the inside of his hand. “Me and you, I think it was always meant to happen.”
David swallows hard past the well of emotion in his chest because truthfully, he believes that too.
Love David? Don’t miss any of his stories by joining the taglist here.

I was at your show last year in July, the Atlanta one, I was the blond girl who asked you to play Courtney during your warm up (I swear this ask has a point) so thank you for doing that.
Point is, during the show proper, you had on a shirt that said "Protect Trans Youth" and I loved every second of the show but I also spent the entire show afraid that my mom would see, and just praying that the pink lighting and crazy energy would be enough that she couldn't see.
On the drive home, she brought the shirt up, and I thought "Oh no, here's where I either have to change the subject and hope she doesn't notice or say a lot of bigoted shit to play along and feel terrible about it later, because if I defend the shirt or NC then she'll tell my dad and we'll have a horrible fight and I'll say things I don't mean and he'll say things he does mean and I'll get in big trouble, and I might even get my computer taken away, which hasn't happened yet but that specific threat has cowed me more times than I can remember, and if that happens he's absolutely going to go through all my files and writings and things and find out that I'm bi and maybe genderqueer and not by any metric a Conservative and then shit'll REALLY hit the fan."
But after initially bringing it up my mom didn't really say anything. And it occurred to me, if I'd been there with my father or my sister they would have absolutely made us leave after Bug got off stage and you got on wearing the shirt. So I guess my point is, the only conclusion I can come to is that something you said or did or sang made it so my mom didn't drag me home the moment your shirt said "Protect Trans Youth". Music and art helped open my mind when I was much younger, and later it helped me discover who I was, so if your goal as a musician is to help people do that sort of thing, I can only hope and pray and say thank you so, so much, for wearing a "Protect Trans Youth" shirt at a concert and for doing something that made my mother decide not to leave, and to finish the concert.
oh wow
you know, it never even occurred to me that wearing that shirt or being generally confrontational about the things that matter to me on stage could have any impact beyond pissing off a stray conservative. i'm sorry it stressed you out and that under other circumstances it could have resulted in you missing the show, that isn't cool at all.
but! i'm glad it turned out the way it did 💜

Happy Leo Szn!! Notes on Leo/5H Placements:
hi! this is my first tumblr post. thought of doing observations/notes on leo placements honoring the season, if you have prominent leo or 5h in your chart this is for you :))
Tumblr media
Leo placements:
-people usually assume that leo suns are outgoing and can express themselves easily. that’s usually true unless they have some sort of tense aspect with the ascendant.
-for e.g. scorpio risings with leo suns usually feel it is difficult to express themselves because they have asc square sun.
-pisces risings with leo suns too! they have their sun in the 8th house. they have gone through a lot of transformations in their lives.
-people usually say that leo venus creates a person that is boastful about their love or shows off. that usually only happens if the placement is malefic. usually, leo venuses are very cute lovers that enjoy getting creative with their partners!
-leo mars is an interesting placement. it’s still a fire sign but when roughly placed it could cause a native that takes things personally and uses the need to out-shine someone as a way to fuel their drive.
-leo moons have their father directly involved with their childhood/the way they process things. leo is ruled by the sun, which represents the father. oftentimes the mother may be ignored in the home life. this is because the planet of the mother (moon) is in the sign of the opposite planet, the sun.
-mars as well! you could mimic the way your father works/motivates himself, or have tendencies of anger like your father or any other paternal figure.
-people with leo in the 11th house may attain fame or popularity through their friends. or they have very creative and passionate friends.
-saturn in leo is a very interesting placement to have. saturn is the karma of the father that shows fruit in the later years. leo, the sun, also represents the father. developing a sense of self and working hard through the karmic debt of the father, creative journeys, etc. the house should also be checked to truly understand this placement.
like, someone who has saturn in leo in the 4th house may have to work with their feminine nature, being comfortable with it, expressing their emotions and the relationship they have with home or mother due to karmic debt of father.
-leo risings may have very good childhoods but difficult marriages. their 7h is in aqua so the native may feel detached or isolated.
Tumblr media
5H placements:
-neptune in 5h causes someone to have a fuzzy perception of their ego/self. art therapy works wonders for these people, also following some sort of spiritual ideology.
-people who have chiron in 5h have wounds regarding their creative endeavors, their personality, humor and may dive into flings just to get validation. they felt unappreciated growing up.
-uranus in 5h can cause sudden shifts in personality, style and even political ideology. maybe the native was very liberal and showed it though their style but now they are conservative. they can also have sudden breakthroughs in their creative endeavors.
-it isn’t true that venus in 5h are only here for short-term relationships! they can foster long-term relationships and they still have that child-like, honeymoon phase charm to it.
Tumblr media
that’s all for today! happy leo season! happy birth season to all my leo suns <33

Alterhumanity in the Family
Our youngest sister has started saying that she's a therian online. She showed us this by commenting that we're in the same Roblox group (an alterhuman one) after she asked to see what groups we were in and it's also written in her bio. We've since talked a little bit about her theriotype.
Now... This is cool and all, we've always wanted someone to relate to in the family. Regardless of if she sticks with the identity or not, it's nice and the things she's said make it seem like she sees her identity as past life based so it seems about as serious as we were when we were that young. It's good for her that she would have someone to relate to growing up as well if she needs it, we weren't fortunate enough to have that.
This brings some extra complications though.
Our family has proven to be anti-alterhuman. At one point, one of our other siblings who is a bit older than the therian one was mocking furries in the living room with everyone around. The father asked what a furry is, and she explained that it is "people who want to be animals" to which we tried to interject and talk about how it's an art and community/fandom thing and not about literally being an animal, but we were ignored. She cut us off and then started talking about her "friend" who "thinks she's a therian" which means "thinks she's part animal", to which our conservative christian father said to "declaw her" and "if she thinks she's an animal, treat her like one and put her in the shelter". I don't even know how they got to those insults immediately, I guess they're the common ones for a reason? But from that, we decided that we wouldn't talk about being a furry let alone being alterhuman around them ever because the fight would be more hassle than anything good that could possibly come of it--they already ignored us once about it, they're likely to brush us off again.
So, yeah. It's an issue. We know what this house is like, and we know the parents have already mocked her for things that as far as they know is just playing pretend. Hell, it could be only playing pretend and nothing more and we'd still see this as an issue.
We're open about alterhumanity elsewhere IRL, just not in our own home due to the cons outweighing the pros, but now we have someone to defend. It's a case of regardless of whether she's playing pretend or not, right now, she is using the label and doesn't deserve to be mocked for it--serious identity or not. So we're at the point where we're mentally preparing ourselves to actually speak up whenever is necessary. We want to support her as best we can with anything at all, really, but this situation in particular hits close to home for us and we don't want her to feel as lonely as we did.
I know she's young and even if the parents end up listening to us, they'll dismiss her based on how young she is. They do it with LGBT+ identities, this will be no better. But we knew when we were that young, and regardless of if she "grows out of it" or not, she deserves respect. We're going to try our best to get it for her, as scary as it is.

ULTIMATE WELDER
Born an only child into a deeply conservative household, Welder had a troubled upbringing. With neither their small town, nor their family appreciating their quirks, they turned inward.
Welder took up painting from a very young age, often depicting strange or grotesque imagery. Their parents were concerned with this of course, but more worried about how feminine their child was becoming.
Welder's mechanic father spent years trying his best to force masculine ideals onto them, but his attempts would never stick. He would drag welder out to the garage to help him assist with his work, hoping it would spark something in Welder. And well, it did.
Welder would take a huge interest in the mechanical, but in more of an aesthetic sense. They would sneak parts from their father to piece together into small, grotesque sculptures inspired by the likes of H.R. Giger.
Welder would continue crafting these small pieces until they enrolled in a trade school their sophomore year. There they would learn to weld, where they would find their true talent.
The sculptures grew, and soon so would an audience. Welder began posting their creations online, and building up a supportive fanbase. Eventually some of their pieces would even be featured in art galleries in nearby cities.
Welders invitation to Hopes Peak was a divine gift, as it would mean leaving their conservative town for good and pursuing their passion full time.
Do you think they'll make it?

ASTROLOGY OBSERVATIONS AND NOTES PART 6✨🧚🏽
Tumblr media
The art work above is not mine and I don’t know who the original creator of the picture on the left is but I found both the pictures on Pinterest! The original creator of the picture on the right is jademaduike on Instagram! And if anyone knows who the creator on the other drawing is pls tell me in the community and I’ll edit my post so the original creator can get their credit!❤️✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
❤️ Mars in the 12th house can represent being scared of men or having a bad history with men. It can also be an indicator of men bullying you, intimidating you, harassing you, trying to control you, and physically or emotionally hurting you.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
❤️ I’ve noticed that Virgos have very white eyes. And I don’t mean just regular eye white I mean like their eyes are white asl.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
❤️ Having your north node opposite ascendent can represent having or a wanting a job that doesn’t match your personality or how others might see you. For example, let’s say you are or people see you as a very irresponsible or immature person but you want to be or you are a doctor. That’s an example of what I mean by your personality or how people see you not matching up with want your job is or what you want to do as a job.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
❤️ Whatever planets is the 11th house in your birth chart or the lord/ruling planet of your 11th house sign can show what you want to do as a job or something you once really wanted to do for a job. For example, if you have sun in the 11th house or the sun is the lord /ruler of your 11th house then you might’ve wanted to be or still want to be an actor, singer, painter, or something along the lines of that. And if your confused on what I mean by lord/ruler of the 11th house here’s an example to help you. For example let’s say you have Gemini in the 11th house that means that Mercury is the lord/ruling planet of your 11th house. The same logic applies to the other signs. The lord/ruler of the 11th house is just the planet that is related to that sign. And if you go have Mercury as lord/ruler or Mercury in the 11th house then this can represent wanting or you wanted to be a to be a teacher, writer, doctor, vet, or a job along those lines.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
❤️ I’ve noticed that a lot of people with Mercury in the 12th house want to be or wanted to be an animator. This can apply to the pladiciuos and whole sign housing system. This can also apply to Pisces Mercurys.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
❤️ Neptune in the 11th house can represent not knowing a lot about technology or not being on social media much. You also might hood some strong conservative beliefs.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
❤️ Ive noticed that people with sun in the 9th house. Or People with their sun’s lord/ruler in the 9th house tend to have Father’s with a lot of money. And they were probably emotionally or physically absent.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
❤️ Whatever house your mars falls into can represent what you find interesting or what your passionate about. For example, Mars in the 8th house people tend to like dark, creepy, and taboo things. I’ve also notice these people can have some strong conservative values/beliefs.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
❤️ I’ve noticed that Virgo mars people wanted to work in the medical field at some point of their lives.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
❤️ Having your 4th house in Taurus can be an indicator of being an only child. And it can also represent growing up in a very expensive place and it can also represent growing up with a lot of money.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
❤️ Having your 4th house ruler or lord in the 1st house can represent someone who really values family.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

“My father is somewhat conservative. I’ve loved drawing ever since I was a kid, and I used to draw at home all the time. But when I got to middle school, I asked my mom to enroll me in an art academy with the dream of attending an arts high school. We went in for a consultation and even ended up paying the tuition. But, my dad was so dead set against it that it all fell through in the end. I think he had planned for me to get a decent white-collar job. He probably thought that if I were to be an art major, it would be hard for me to get a stable career. I remember going back to the academy the very next day, apologizing profusely, and getting a full refund, all because of my dad’s staunch opposition. It’s been 10 years since then, but I still remember the heartbreak I felt after coming home that day, thinking, ‘I can’t even pursue this thing that I love so much.’ But look at how the world has changed. Now, there are so many people making good money by drawing webtoons or creating emojis!"
