this is all purely headcanon but I like to write the Skills as all falling for Kim at the same time that Harry does.

even though their level of warmth and affection for Kim vary greatly, and a lot of them have internalised homophobia, they all mostly share the same core feelings. kind of like how they demonstrated it in the Dora dream

they just all show (or hide) it differently. and as Harry starts to realise his feelings, the behaviour of the Furies develops, too

you know, its not brought up in fics often but ted is extremely well read. he doesnt brag about it, but hes read everything from f scott fitzgerald's b sides to ayn rand's doorstoppers to the sixteen book Ender series, etc etc etc. Ted reads about as much as we see Beard reading (which. in my head is a trait that was passed on, a new focus to sharpen the mind and keep him out of trouble and his mind off drugs, something Ted offered up as a coping mechanism for when his own dad died, a way to have fun and adventure and escape without ending up in jail like Ted himself had a handful of times before, scaring the bejeezus out of his ma.)

this turned into a mini fic and i lost my train of thought but point is, Ted reads So Much and more people need to pick up on this in fics please and thank you.

#ted lasso #hes got an artistic soul!#but also anyone whos fav book is the fountainhead must be both well read and stubborn as a bull #its a slog and thats coming from someone whos read both infinite jest and les mis #im getting through it slowly but surely. mostly to stretch my story endurance before jumping into atlas shrugged #also. yes i know we have no evidence that he read all 16 ender books #but having had read them myself i know in my heart of hearts that ted absolutely finished every one of them with gusto #probably on the bus to and from games with his team back in the US #no wait hold on. he was a backup punter right? that means LOTS of time sitting on the sidelines waiting for a whole bunch of nothing #lots of time was spent watching the plays and the team and formulating im sure (which is also probably why he trusts nate so much in the #beginning. bc that used to be him sitting on the sidelines taking it all in) but also theres long stretches of no play in american football #during which he probably read like a demon to keep his grades up and keep his scholarship #so that this ma never had to worry about him away at school. He wasnt going to get into trouble anymore not like he did in high school #he had to be the man of the house and gosh darn it was he going to do it with gusto #which meant good grades and learning about life and people and spending all that free time the right way #therefore: books. an easy habit that keeps him out of trouble and keeps his mama proud. plus itd be easy to hide from coaches under his pad #if they ever had a problem with it (which im sure they would at first but once he proved he was paying attention and wormed his way in #with the team even as a reserve well. they were less eagle-eyed after that concerning the paperback-shaped lumps under his jersey)#anyway have another mini fic i guess lol #im feeling a tad verbose today

#frank mahovlich #toronto maple leafs #maple leafs #leafs #hockey #vintage hockey #nhl #web weave #my first web weave in fact!#i've been tinkering with this for 2 months and have finally decided to release it to the world #if you aren't familiar with the story of frank mahovlich + toronto: he was a superstar left winger for the maple leafs in the 50s + 60s #but the media and a lot of fans were never quite happy with him #he endured coaching abuse and heavy booing from fans #he had 2 depressive episodes in the 60s for which he was hospitalized #eventually he was traded to detroit and then montréal #where he played the most enjoyable hockey of his nhl career #and ended up winning 6 stanley cups #but toronto was not kind to him #he's one of my favourite historical hockey players #his skating is beautiful to watch

I think the fundamental part of growing up re: Anne of Green Gables is that Gilbert Blythe is such a good idea but Lucy Maude didn’t spend enough time on him to make him a fully real person.

#I love him in the first book #and I think there are real flashes! But she kind of won’t … give you any more of him #and listen. It’s complicated because I LOVED them so much growing up and I think genuinely their romance taught me a lot about life and lov #the idea of it is so right and good #but in this case the tv series is better I think because he’s more of a real person #Lucy Maud was (imo) a little scared of men and romance #and her execution of Gilbert is that she forgot to give him enough to be his own person #like she just didn’t put in the work #the readers of Anne of green gables did!! And they’re so valid for that #Like I have this whole meta I wrote about him once and it is honestly such a good meta and I think it gets to the heart of the idea #but the execution just isn’t there. Especially with time #She was deeply uninterested in doing any underground work for his character so he isn’t terribly real #you know who made me realize this? Coach Taylor lol #well. Coach Taylor and Emma #And listen it’s not like Gilbert is actually evil. He is NOT and what is there is good! But it isn’t technically artistically enough #for it to endure #idk I’m not explaining it well also I feel mean even saying it #But I feel like I’m allowed to because I DID love them so much and they were so important to me #and their love story gets something so right!!!!!! The shape is so good!!!!! I still got all of that #it’s just imo one of her limitations #like she had all the right instincts to make Anne’s partner his own person #Someone who sometimes pushes back #But #idk because like. I can still do all the work of it and fill in all those spaces and I want to #the romance in Anne of the island still has me in a chokehold!!!!!!#I LOVE pining Gilbert and the flashes there. because it almost disguises the lack of substance. But yeah it’s not what it looks like #Idk I might delete but #I just wanted to share

my football team is so hopeless

#not dortmund lol i mean the club i play at myself #it makes me want to quit ngl #there are just so many things i'm fed up with #at times it's not fun anymore #i like playing football but there's just a lot wrong with this team #but i'm mostly just hanging around because i don't want to let my coach down like he cares and genuinly seems like a good coach #the only thing which gives me a bit of hope #and i hate letting people down 😅 that and also i hate giving up #but i have never seen a team more hopeless or felt more hopeless playing a sport 😅#and he apparently thinks i'm kind of important to the team which i kind of get but also it doesn't really make a difference...#we're just so hopeless i can’t turn this around lol #i always start and i hope it continues but there's not much i can do #we just have too many people who don't care last match so many have given up #some of our team just refuse to run or move at some point it's awful #like why can't you try #we always loose so high like what's the point but still don't give up #besides that the endurance (and also sprint speed) of most is awful which could be trained to a point #but whenever the coach tries to do that almost no one shows up 💀#and i usually play wing or outside midfielder but i'm supposed to also be a defender apparently what #whenever we get a goal on my side and i'm not back in defence someone moans at me like that's my fault #i get working back but i can’t be everywhere especially when some people don't move #and i actually try to get the ball foreward or try to get the ball back in the front because i don't give up when we're behind #i want to score goals and not settle with loosing and only sit back to do defence anymore #naturally there will be open spaces when i try to do that but how is giving up better even when it's hopeless we could still try scoring #and i can't be everywhere they should try my position they would never last 90min running like i do #besides i'm already exausted each week from my training before like i do sports 2-3 hours 6 or 7 days a week #unfortunately i have to because once again i'm trying some entrance exam (for sports to become a teach in sports and english hopefully)#asides from that i don't like most of the people at my club 😅 it feels a bit like highschool again and i didn't like highschool #so many are ignorant and judgemental #like the girl i told you about with her comment about the cleaning lady instead of wanting to clean up her stuff herself 🙄
