‼️IRON FLAME SPOILERS‼️
guys hear me out
i couldn't help but notice the similarities with iron flame and tog
venin xaden – valg dorian
the venin – the valg
yrene (a healer who got rid of erawan) – brennan (a mender who mended the wardstone)
wrydstone – wardstone
wryd marks – runes
are we seeing the pattern? 🧐
what if brennan will be able to cure the venin-turned people similar to how yrene got rid of erawan? i have so many questions about andarna too! i think she would be a key player in the next books.

Runes
Runes are a logo-graphic language originating from the early Sceaonan and Tyrrish clans of Navarre. After the Unification, they were outlawed by King Reginald who deemed them "witchcraft"; any person found writing in runic would be punished and reported for apostacy. Some Tyrrish architecture containing engravings of these letters still remain to this day, but most have forgotten how to read and interpret them.
Simultaneously, they are also strands of magic that can be woven into physical form for specific purposes using dragon relics, stigmata marks, or pleromic energy. Tyrrendor once used these as a way to store excess power into objects for later use. They called this art "tempering". Upon an audible or telepathic command, the rune will trigger and activate to perform the specified need. Smiling Foxes use them as seals to lock doors or prevent excess magic from leaking through. Poromish aviators use them offensively by writing them on slips of paper using their own logographic language and imbuing them with magic before strapping them to their mounts or person for battle.

Has anyone noticed the similarities between Lorcan/Elide and Xaden/Violet?
The chronic ill/disabled female who’s vicious but depends on their mind most of all.
The ruthless male with a history of killing but who is actually a romantic at heart—for one person, anyway.
The inevitable betrayal when he’s kept something from her.
Her hurt and furious but still loving him, making him crawl on his knees for her forgiveness.
Idk yall there’s a very specific 5’0 genius ball of rage/6’5 ruthless guard dog vibe going on

Hey guys, quick PSA:
I’ve noticed some of my posts being used to push some strong agendas and to do some anti work and I want it very strongly known that this is not something I support or approve of. I’m here for positivity, lols, and to post things I like. I work hard to only post with positivity and I’m asking everyone to please respect that.
I DO NOT DO SHIP WARS OR ANTI POSTS.
I know this is the internet and I can’t control what happens to my content after I post, but I respectfully ask that you please don’t use my posts with those intentions.
Reblog, tag, and like all you want…. But please keep it positive. That’s all I’m asking
Okay PSA over, scroll on and enjoy

At the risk of seeing discourse and bad faith takes in the notes, I'd like to apply nuance to the Malenia vs Radahn fight
In their states before the fight, Radahn was stronger. This is because Malenia's training was based around suppressing her rot, the very thing that made her a demigod and an empyrean. The Scarlet Rot was eating at her, yes, but that's only a negative because of her desire to be separate from it (sort of like the difference in the omen twins, actually. Acceptance vs repression). This put her at a disadvantage to a demigod who had fully embraced his powers.
And this was something she knew. That's why she removed Miquella's Needle. She needed a final gambit in case exactly what happened, happened. Radahn literally disarmed her and so she brought her true power to the battlefield.
"But Radahn was holding back the stars, he was carrying his horse." Yes and he chose to do that during his attempt to claim the throne. He chose to do that despite knowing he was facing Malenia, Blade of Miquella. Tactical decisions are just as much a part of battlefield power as raw strength.
As warriors on the battlefield, Radahn was barely able to get an edge over Malenia. As demigods with their full powers, Radahn never stood a chance.
Not...that any of this matters cause in game all that's happening is I'm getting my ass beat

Someone: I don't like Fourth Wing. I stopped after chapter 4 or 5.
Me: You didn't get to Threshing? The dragons?
Me: You're missing like... 95% of the entire STORY!
(Okay, in all seriousness, someone also just told me that they stopped reading SJM's Throne of Glass series after like, book 2. And I got the same feeling as I did with the one who did not like Fourth Wing.
Because book 2 of an 8-book series? Hell you haven't even STARTED. Haven't met like, 75% of the main characters and just... yeah.)
But it did remind me of those who like, stopped reading some books after a couple chapters. Not out of the writing style or anything (because yes, not every writer is every reader's cup of tea), but because of reasons like:
"I didn't like the characters"
"The story line was boring"
"It was too much like [insert other series here] that I didn't like"
And other things of that nature. Because writing style I can understand just not getting into it after a short exposure.
But the plot? The characters?
GIVE THEM A CHANCE (especially when it's like, barely even started).
Just my two cents.

Navarre's Religion
Plocothos, most commonly referred to as the Pantheon, was brought over from the country Ospon along with the first domesticated dragons and quickly became the dominant religion after the Unification. The Pantheon, as they're commonly called, consists of four gods:
Amari -- goddess of fertility, love, and beginnings
Dunne -- goddess of war, hunting, and wisdom
Zihnal -- god of good fortune, harvest, and music
Malek -- god of death, judgement, and dreams
The afterlife in Plocothism is split into two sections: Elysium and the Void Realm. Both areas are connected to Malek's domain and can only be accessed after a soul is judged and sent to either realm. Those who've died honorably and lived without fault are guided into Elysium, the eternal paradise where they'll no longer feel pain or anguish. Those that sin and fail to atone are thrown into the Void Realm, a place filled with nothing but darkness and the screams of those they've wronged. There is not peace or respite for the ones who end up here, only eternal torment and insanity.

Happy Sunday! 📚
I finished Iron Flame this week. In my opinion it wasn’t AS good as I hoped after the flash of lightning Fourth Wing was to me. However, it was still very good and made me very excited for the rest of the series. It’s going to be a long wait, and my ADHD brain will possibly have forgotten everything when The Emperyan #3 hits. 🙈
I often struggle with reading unfinished series, I’m hoping joining bookstagram will help me keep track of characters and storylines. I finished Throne Of Glass last year, but only managed to get my hands on Assassin’s blade this weekend. So while I am anxiously awaiting HOFAS publication date (coincides wjth finishing my exams) with the rest of you, I’ll dive into Celeana Sardothien’s backstory.
What are you currently reading?
