Elvira's House of Mystery Special #1
After working through two very much kids' comics in a row, it's nice to be back with a story that's willing to have a bit of an edge to it. And House of Mystery has delivered for me before.
Elvira's Christmas Carol
To nobody's surprise this is yet another retelling of the three Ghosts scene of A Christmas Carol. Elvira learns the spirit of Christmas by getting taken around by Cain, Abel, and Destiny. In the end she resolves to celebrate Christmas by sending a giant bat to Cain and Abel.
Oh, What Fun to Laugh and Sing a Slaying Song Tonight!
This one troubled me. It does contain a Real Santa (as well as several fake Santas), but I could have done without the magical healing scene.
We once again have a crook robbing a Santa gathering donations, and then stealing his costume and heading off with the cash to rob other places. Onija Smith, our troublemaker here, apparently just broke out of Rikers Island 2 hours ago and is on the run. He breaks into a house and while stealing all the gold and silver is discovered by a little girl - who thinks he's Santa! She's blind and asked to get her sight back for Christmas. Smith tells the little girl he's doing a spell by gathering all the valuables, then escapes out the window as he tells her he needs to get something from the sleigh to make the magic work. However... REAL SANTA suddenly comes down the chimney!
Tumblr media
And cures her blindness. Yeah. That happened.
Santa's feeling old and tired as he gets back into his sleigh, and as he takes off...he runs over Onija Smith, killing him.
This is House of Mystery after all.
Oh Christmas Tree - this is by Barbara Randall so I'm going in with decent hopes.
A couple of social climbers (Faye and Steve) have just moved into a fancy new house and the wife wants the best Christmas Tree this year. They look at a bunch of options but Faye declares she wants a 'real wild tree' so they go chop one down in the forest (which was off limits for lumbering).
After a Christmas party of showing off the house, the couple go to bed and the tree comes to life, growing roots and through the walls to attack the couple and kill them in the house.
The tree's growth takes over the whole house, and is so huge it eventually gets cut down to be the Christmas Tree outside the White House.
'Twas the Night Before X-Mas...
The Night Before Christmas poem, about nuclear winter (this is a nice change, I haven't had many Night Before Christmases yet).
Some aliens stop by but find that the entire planet has been wiped out by the nuclear bombs.
However...their ship detects something moving and they worry it's a missile! (it's actually Santa)
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, Santa gets zapped by the aliens.

Santaquest pt 5: Santa Strike Back!
Okay, let's speedrun some more Santa Comics:
DC Comics Presents #67
Superman and Santa Claus go up against the Toymaker! Did you know that Superman has a giant key to the fortress of sorrow that's shaped like a giant arrow?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Superman: If they doubt you, Tim--just tell 'em to ask me. Tim (not Drake): You bet I will! Nifty key! Superman: Thanks, it serves as an aircraft navigational marker mostly-- --since nobody else but supergirl or I can even lift it!
When Santa and Tim crash in the arctic, they are saved by none other than Santa and his elves!
Tumblr media
Santa: Here, friend Superman is my top-secret workshop at the very heart of the North Pole! Superman: Workshop...? North Pole...? But that-- that's impossible--!?! You aren't... I mean you couldn't possibly be...
Anyway, Santa and Superman work together to stop the Toymaker's plot to hand out hypnotizing toys etc etc. We do get this nice moment:
Tumblr media
Superman: I'm gonna crash-- and crash-- --hard?? Huh? I landed light as a feather--!? But my weight should have carried me cleand through this sleigh--! Santa: My sleigh was build to carry a far greater weight than yours, friend superman-- --for it carries the hopes and dreams of a worldful of children!
Best of DC #58
Others have already brought up Santa's unionized elves in this issue:
Tumblr media
Santa: What about Christmas? Elf: That's not our problem--no winter--no work! That's our union contract!
I would like to further point out that while all the male kids who get justice league powers in this issue go on little adventures and solve problems before the final confrontation, our mini-Wonder Woman gets to end up in bondage instead:
Tumblr media
Ah, wonder woman comics.
Elvira's House of Mystery Special #1
Two Santa appearences here. Firstly we've got the whole 'Santa healing a blind girl' think Zahri and Ink have already covered. That story also features our second instnce of death by santa sleigh in this read through!
Tumblr media
The second one features him getting blasted by aliens in a post-nuclear winter scenario:
Tumblr media
(Interestingly enough the Elvira christmas carol story at the begining (which I quite enjoyed) also featured what might have been a far future nuclear winter.)
Swamp Thing #115
Swamp Santa! With a coonskin cap and crocodile drawn sleigh!
Tumblr media
Also read: Christmas with the Super-Heroes #2 upon recommendation which featured no Santa but really was quite good. (The Superman and Wonder Woman stories especially imo)

Top 10 Halloween Mascots
Here is a list of my top ten favorite Halloween Mascots. Christmas only really has Santa Claus but Halloween has attempted several mascots over the years.
10. The Sanderson Sisters:
The Sanderson Sisters are the three stooges-esque bungling evil witches from Disney's Hocus Pocus franchise. They are loosely based on the traditional Maiden, Mother, and Crone concept and more directly may have been inspired by the three witches from DC's The Witching Hour comics (which later became the Hecateae in Neil Gaiman's The Sandman.) There are currently two Hocus Pocus movies, a Disney parks stage show and a Broadway musical in development. They have all sorts of merchandise including throw blankets, dolls, and action figures. There are even Hallmark ornaments of them now. Unfortunately these characters are NOT in the public domain so only Disney is allowed to make up new stories involving them.
Tumblr media
9. The Headless Horseman
This one is another localized figure the way Lestat is for New Orleans. The Headless Horseman is the mascot for the town of Sleepy Hollow New York (Formerly known as Terry Town but renamed for tourism purposes since Sleepy Hollow was its nickname and the basis for the Washington Irving Legend of Sleepy Hollow).
The Headless Horseman doesn't just exist in Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. In fact Headless Horsemen are so common in Irish folklore that they have a name for them. Dullahan.
Tumblr media
8. The Wicked Witch of the West
The Wicked Witch of the West from the Wizard of Oz (particularly the movie version) has become the classic idea of the "Halloween witch." The Halloween special "The Halloween that almost wasn't" also suggested that Halloween cannot officially start until she flies her broom across the moon. Depictions of her or witches like her are everywhere in pop culture and not just around Halloween.
A version of her even appears in the fantasy soap opera, Once Upon a Time. She's the sort of character often taken for granted and she is in the public domain though MGM claims to own the rights to a particular shade of green for her skin tone. There's currently a highly successful Broadway musical telling her side of the story called Wicked (loosely based on the novel of the same name.) Wicked is currently being adapted into two movies.
Tumblr media
7. Frankenstein's Monster.
I, myself, would not have added Frankenstein's Monster to this list but every year new costumes and decorations are made that depict him. He is in the public domain (meaning anyone can use him) and he is a well-loved character. Unfortunately few people know what the Frankenstein monster of the novel actually looked like so most of the merchandise is a zeitgeist creation resembling the version played by Boris Karloff.
Tumblr media
6. Lestat
Owned by the estate of the recently deceased Anne Rice, Lestat was her favorite creation, the fictional French vampire brat prince. Lestat became the hero of her Vampire Chronicles book series after initially serving as an antagonist in Interview With The vampire. Lestat became the mascot for her annual New Orleans costume ball and is still the most popular Halloween costume in New Orleans.
Tumblr media
Lestat was played by Tom Cruise in the 1994 film Interview with The vampire, which earned the low budget sequel, Queen of the damned and later a Broadway musical. Currently Lestat is played by Sam Reid for the Interview with The vampire TV series.
5. Elvira
Tumblr media
Elvira was a TV horror host in the 1980s. She also released some music as the character. The character's creator is Cassandra Peterson. Elvira even got her own movie and several comic book series, including ones where she took on Dracula and Faust. She even hosted The House of Mystery for a while.
4. Count Dracula.
Tumblr media
Though not originally invented for Halloween, Count Dracula has become something of a fixture around Halloween. There are Halloween costumes and decorations of him along with other public domain monsters.
Since Dracula IS in the public domain that means anyone can use him without having to worry about copyright infringement. And so Dracula has been a character in many Halloween specials including The Halloween that almost wasn't (also known as The Night Dracula saved the World). Monster High, Monster High 2, Scooby Doo and the Reluctant werewolf, Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School and Dear Dracula.
Not bad for a vampire that supposedly was the prince of Wallachia who, as a mortal, died in fourteen seventies and according to the fiction became a vampire after that.
Universal Studios claims to own the version of him with the red lined cape and widow's peak hairline and that is why the version in Hotel Transylvania (by Sony) does not have these details, which is odd since many other depictions of Dracula not from Universal, have used these particular traits. I think Universal was just giving Sony a hard them when they found out about Hotel Transylvania. 3. Stingy Jack.
Tumblr media
Stingy Jack is the public domain folkloric figure who we get Jack-o-lanterns from.
A very short version of the story is this. A man named Jack cheats The Devil out of his soul but is not welcome into Heaven. So when he dies he is doomed to wander. He attempts to enter Hell just to find a place to race but The Devil turns him away. Mocking him, demons toss out an ember from Hell-fire that Jack places inside a lantern to light his way.
Now a ghost Jack wanders the world but he is also something of a coward. And similar carved lanterns- he would mistake as other wandering, damned souls, and these would drive him away. These lanterns are Jack-o-lanterns.
Over time the legend evolved to suggest that Jack-o-lanterns could ward off all wandering spirits. The earliest Jack-o-lanterns were carved from turnips but Irish immigrants North America found that Pumpkins were easier to carve. (And taste better too.)
Today it is considered good luck if you can keep your jack-o-lantern burning all Halloween night. And bad luck if it burns out before midnight because that invites the spirits into your home, that the Jack-o-lantern was protecting you against.
2. Sam / Samhain.
There are two versions of Sam.
The first is Sam Haim (deliberate mispronunciation of the Gaelic Samhain = "Sow-in"). He was the very spirit of Halloween from The Real Ghostbusters Halloween special "When Halloween was forever." He is a robed figure with a pumpkin-like head obsessed with honoring the rules of Halloween and punishing those that violate those rules...
Tumblr media
Then we have Sam from Trick r. Treat. A child-like figure with a Pumpkin-skull head under his sack-like Halloween mask. This anthropomorphic personification of Halloween is obsessed with honoring the rules of Halloween and punishing those that violate those rules...
Tumblr media
1. Jack Skellington.
This was probably obvious. Jack Skellington has the disadventage of NOT being in the public domain. Anyone can use Santa Claus but Jack is owned by Disney. They have owned him since the early 1980s when a young animator named Tim Burton wrote his original poem / children's book that ultimately became the 1993 stop motion animated movie.
It's easy to dismiss Jack because he is owned by Disney. And that means other people don't have the freedom to play with him the way they do with other characters like Santa or even Count Dracula.
Now the modern depictions of Santa Claus (at least here in the US) have him wearing red and white and and a lot of people take for granted that he always dressed this way but if you go backward to as recently as the nineteenth century, you'll find his robes used to be long and were many colors, from white, to blue, to green, to black. The main reason we're so used to Santa in his red suit with white trim is actually because of early twentieth century Coca-Cola advertisements.
So even Santa has been influenced pop culture and corporations.
Disregarding the limitations caused by being owned by Disney, Jack Skellington has become very iconic in the last thirty-years. The popularity of Nightmare before Christmas helped spread "American style" Halloween to Germany and other parts of Europe. So for them Jack has always been a fixture of Halloween, and not some 90s novelty.
Nightmare before Christmas was something of a sleeper hit. Disney did not realize how popular it was until about a decade after its original release. (Similar would also happen with the Box office flop, Hocus Pocus, now considered a Halloween classic.)
New stories are being published involving Jack Skellington and his Pumpkin Queen, Sally, and new merchandise is sold every year. This year a Mattel's Monster High / Disney collaboration lead to the release of a limited edition Monster High style Jack and Sally doll set. Upon release date the dolls sold out in less than nine minutes, proving that Jack is still very much The King of Halloween.
Also Jack Skellington has song numbers, which, if you know Christmas specials, has a way of preserving a character indefinitely in pop culture.
Jack Skelington has appeared in Nightmare before Christmas, the Kingdom hearts video games, Nightmare before Chrsitmas: Oogie's revenge video game. The novel All Hail the Pumpkin Queen, and the graphic novel Battle for The Pumpkin King.

Halloweenathon :Elvira Mistress of the Dark
In this installment of the Halloweenathon ,I'm gonna tackles a cult classic that is particularly popular with the queer community and starring one of the most beloved horror hosts ever
Tumblr media
This 1988 film follows horror host Elvira (Cassandra Petersen ) who seeking to find funding for a Las Vegas show ,learns of her great aunt Morgana Talbot (Played physically by Petersen but voiced by Tress McNeill),and that she has inherited her dog,a cook book and her house in Fallwell , Massachusetts ,where Elvira befirends the local teens and theater operator Bob Redding (Daniel Greene ) while dealing with harassment from moral crusader Chastity Pariah (Edie McClurg) and the machinations of her evil great uncle Vincent (W Morgan Sheppard ) who seeks the mysterious cook book for his own reasons
Now ....I went in thinking this was just gonna be a silly horror comedy I could easilly talk about .....WRONG SIR<WRONG !!!!!Oh its definately a goofy comedy.....But it is also a meta narrative of Elviras creator and performer Cassandra Petersen (Not all deeply personal pieces of art have to be dramas ) .Its also possibly my new favorite of the Halloweenathon
But before I get ahead of myself, who is Elvira? WEll she was a horror host in the 80's who went on to be one of the biggest icons of horror in the 80's . And is such an icon we are still talking about her ,Petersen still plays her occassionally ,and the fact she got a flipping movie at all showe how big this character was .AS for my personal experience with Elvira,I've seen her in a few commercials ,a few talk show interviews ,her appearence on the 1991 TV special Horror Hall of Fame 2 and the movie Happy Halloween Scooby Doo
The film is very much comedy first and I am perfectly fine with that . The film is meant to be goofy and campy . Whether you find it funny or not will depend on your taste ,but it is my level of goofy .Cassandra Petersen is remarkably funny as Elvira ,but I think the funniest element of the film is Edie McClurg as the films secondary villain ,she is just a hilarious parody of a overly judgement moral crusader and a perfect foil for Elvira
But what makes the film work ,is there obviously a lot of love and it is a personal story.Yeah I know that sounds weird considering this film is about a horror host who wants to to be a showgirl ,theres an evil warlock, magic ,and a casserole monster .....Buuuuuuut elements are taken from Petersens real life
1.Elviras whole thing is she watches campy horror movies so the film has to be a campy horror film
2.The main male character who helps Elvira is named after Robvert Redding ,Petersens friend and the man who created Elviras look ,who sadly died of AIDS before the film came out
3.Uncle Vinny, the films main antagonist is named after Petersens personal hero turned friend Vincent Price ,and is a classical theatrical villain
4.Petersen was a showgirl befor becoming an actress and horror host
5.Elvira was hated by many moral crusaders, son not a surprise they are the bad guys
6.And I think the big one ,Petersen grew up in a town where she was an outcast ......And that is the big point of the film
I know its a goofy comedy....But what resonated with me ,and I think what resonates with most people who love this movie ,is it is about an outcast . Elvira is bullied by the moral crusaders or harassed by slimeball ,judged to either be morally bad for being diffrent or objectified by creeps.....And she doesnt take their bullshit .She is bold .I also like that the film subverts the damsel and distress stuff by letting her save herself .SEeing her face these bullies is empowering .I will also say as someonewho grew up in a small conservative town, seeing the conservative crusader villains get mocked and humiliated is cathartic
CAssandra Petersen is friggin amazing as Elvira anmd this film has cemented her in my mind as a icon of horror .The rest of the cast is good ,I feel like the stand outs are the two main villains Edie Mc Clurg who I have already praised ,and W Morgan Sheppard who wonderfully menacing as Uncle Vinny ,a good old fahioned hammy villain
Now this movie is nt for everybody but for me this is a wonderfully empowering, funny film ,perfect for the halloween season

I finished watching The Sandman Netflix adaptation. It’s good! It is a surprisingly good adaptation! But it also helped me articulate my main issue with adapting comics to the screen.
DC comics have a special place in my heart, but I especially love the old constellation of 80s and 90s Vertigo occult comics: Hellblazer, Swamp Thing, and of course The Sandman. I’m coming to the television show not just as someone who has read the comics, but as someone who has read a lot of comics. I read all of The Dreaming! I read Dead Boy Detectives! I read the 2008-2011 House of Mystery!
I think the thing that’s endlessly fascinating to me about comics, but especially the legacy publishers like DC, is that it’s a kind of storytelling that’s constantly in conversation with itself. It’s one of the things that’s particularly satisfying to me about them: pulling apart a palimpsest of allusions, homages, and lost continuities.
As I sat watching The Sandman with a friend of mine who is less familiar with the source material, he asked me what the deal was with Cain and Abel. In response, I went into a long tangent about the history of horror comics, the trope of anthology “hosts” who frame the anthology stories for the reader, and how many of these hosts (Cain and Abel, Lucien the Librarian, and Eve) made their way into The Sandman comics. That didn’t really answer his question, which was more about what role the characters are serving in the show.
Even more than other comics, The Sandman is about stories. And that’s the issue with adapting a comic about comics into film. Ideally, if the comic is about comics, the film or television adaptation should similarly be in conversation with film and television. Cain and Abel, while an iconic part of The Dreaming, are superfluous to the plot and world of the Netflix adaptation. Unless you’re using them to comment on the horror films that those kind of horror comics inspired (Tales from the Crypt, Creepshow, anything with Elvira), they’re no longer serving their purpose.
I had the same issue with the 2009 Watchmen film. It wasn’t enough to be a shot-for-shot remake of a comic about comics; it should have been a superhero movie about superhero movies.
In short, I would have loved a more experimental Sandman that explored the more metanarrative elements of its storytelling in the manner of something like Maniac. I know that’s never going to happen with valuable DC IP, but I can dream, can’t I?

The enigma that I know
@kretentious inspired me to write this so here you go!
Summary: Through suppressed memories,a stressful night after operation Redlight, Greenlight. Elvira Wolff remembers a familiar face in her nightmares.
Trigger warning: Abuse, Strong language, PTSD
"When you spend so long trapped in darkness, you find that the darkness begins to stare back." -Sarah J. Maas
Tumblr media
What is everyone's destiny in their lifetime? Something they all truly to accomplish, what they aspire for, what they want to change about the world. What they want the best for people? This small but big sacrifice, this father had made for his child. Was going to change everything, and it was out of his own true foolishness. This was her true destiny, she had been told this all throughout her childhood. Word by word, her father would say to her countless of times. This was what she was brought up to do. This was her future, and this was the life she had to live in. She had no thought of her own, she had no thought on what she wanted to do, it was the mindset and the ideology. Of what her father wanted for his own doing. And what he couldn't do himself. But truly, this was going to be far much more deeper than anyone had known ever. Being under the wing of Perseus himself, this is the enigma that she knows.
This peculiar man? This is the special and unbreakable enigma that she knows, well it was no other than Perseus. The infamous rouge, charismatic and mysterious Soviet intelligence officer, the ultimate spy master, known and feared by many. The rat that got away, from the cat no other than Russell Adler. This man was determined to catch his life long enemy, it was a game of cat and mouse. And what else of Perseus? He is the eyes, the leader of the international ring of undercover spies. This radical military intelligence officer, saw the dangers and overwhelming weakness of the Soviet Union. And what was his ultimate goal of all? Undermining western power and setting the Soviet Union as the leader of all the world’s nations. However, he can't do it without the one thing by his side. A comrade, someone truly special, someone truly like him to serve by his side to make his goal come true. Elvira Wolff was the chosen one, his right hand.
"If a man with blue eyes, brown hair knocks on that door. You better open that damn door for him, and be respectful to him. I fucking mean it." Her father would advise strength to her, with his familiar strong, abrupt and violent tone towards her. In the familiar house hold of her old home in Berlin, the miserable colours of the living room. And of the grand piano she always played on, the only source of colur and only source to stand out on. The only colour in Elvira's life, the slam of the front door could be heard. As her father left her alone in the house, like he had always done. The ticking of the old grandfather clock, left and right, tick-tok, tick-tok, tick-tok, endlessly. Her emerald green eyes observed the clock with nervousness, the sweat, the anxiety, as the child was simply waiting for this man. That she doesn't even know or even heard of. Her eyes immediately focused over to the door, when she hard three knocks and then a deadly silence that came with it.
Her little hand just barely reaching up, all of her small strength she had in her. Gripping onto the door handle, as the door opened and she opened the door. And there he was, the man with brown hair and blue eyes. Perseus. Both of their eyes immediately met, intensely staring at one and another. Was this the man that father spoke of? She presumed so.
"Oh, Hello Elvira. Are you alone little one? Where is your father? He should be here..." Perseus looked around curiously, there was no signs of her father at all. Nevertheless Elvira let Perseus in the house, now many would say stranger danger. But what was she suppose to do? Disobey her father? God no, that is the last thing she would ever want to do. The poor girl was always afraid of her father, no matter what she did, what she done, what she accomplished. Nothing ever seemed to satisfy him, and violence was always his first answer. And nothing else.
Elvira listened in what he had to say, and she stayed silent momentarily. That was before she finally had the courage, to even speak up to Perseus. To her, he did look a little scary.
"I don't know sir... He always goes out... For a long time, and doesn't come back until later on..." She replied to him, she watched him sit down. He basically made himself at home, part of her would think this isn't his first visit at all. Just don't mess up, she would repeat to herself in her own little bubble of a mind.
Perseus nodded in understandment, he could tell the young child was intimidated by him. A lot in fact. The sheer look of fear on her face, the nerves, the aura of her anxiety around her body. Everything, god what the hell has Diedrich done to her? If she was going to be his future right hand, the most trusted person he could ever rely on. He needed to assure her, by all means he didn't want to hurt her or harm her in any way.
"Don't worry young one, I am not here to hurt you... I'm well, how do I put it simply... A friend. Let me introduce myself, my name is Perseus what is your name?" Perseus asked her. Despite him already knowing her name, he wanted to ease her nerves. And to also show that in some forms, he can still be perfectly harness at times. Despite what the man had already done, he still had the common curtesy of a decent human being.
"My name is Wolff, Elvira Wolff sir." Elvira responded to him, she then gave out her hand to him to shake hands. Perseus noticed that and so, he shook her hand gently before then pulling his hand away. He didn't want to give her a handshake, well because she was a kid after all. He didn't have to worry too much, but he himself was very observant. Well more of the surroundings, and environment as a whole. The wiff of alcohol, cigarette straight up his nostrils.
Perseus tried to brush it all out of his mind, but he couldn't promise anything at hand. Before he focused back to Elvira. The only way to win her trust, or in any child at all. For that matter, but with Elvira? It was different than that. A soon to be comrade, to him but already he wanted what was best for this girl.
"Well. It is a pleasure to meet you Wolff, I have heard many things about you. Your father had mentioned, you have been studying a lot yes?" He then asked her.
"Yes, a lot actually... Everyday... And I always have to make sure I know the topic well, and not to mess up... Especially when it comes to the exams I have to do..." Elvira explained to him. Her father alone was very serious, when it came to studying and exams. Every single question, she had to answer and get it right. If not? Well she would be in serious trouble, that's one of them many bad things that can happen to her.
Strict bastard. Was the only word that came into Perseus mind, he already knew she was going to be a good Comrade to him. However working her like a dog, wasn't exactly ideal for him. He already knew the first moment Diedrich told him about her, a new comrade he thought. But now hearing that she was endlessly working like a normal adult; Or already being treated like one, she's just a kid right? Still deserved her childhood in some way, and all of it was taken away from her. Gone in a flash, just like that no remorse no nothing. The suspicion, was growing more and more within the enigma himself. Despite him being one himself, there was something else he was decoding. Slowly putting all of the pieces together, like a jigsaw puzzle. Think Perseus; Military man, military household, wiff of alcohol and smoke; Coping mechanism of course, leaving a child unattended? At such a young age... Slowly everything was coming to him.
A soft sigh escaped Perseus lip, he honestly  did feel bad for the child. He really did, he still had some form of sympathy. Somewhere deep down inside of him, but this was a kid for crying out loud. And this was no way to live your childhood, regardless of the situation at hand. He almost wanted to help.
"Well... I think either way, you are doing well. And I wouldn't care if you got things wrong, the part of making mistakes... You learn from them don't you?" He explained to her. Even if Diedrich's way was completely different to his, by all means Perseus knew what he was doing. He wasn't stupid, with the power that he has. Everything is all knowing to him, and when you have eyes everywhere. You have the whole world of knowledge, in your hands. The will, the power, to do anything you want with that knowledge. And what do you suppose Perseus would wo with it?  Well, the one thing he would certainly do. Take down Diedrich Wolff himself, with help of course.
"I have something to give you, and I want you to keep these safe. No matter what ok? A little promise between us, and no one has to know..." Perseus would say to her, his hand went into the pocket of his inner suit jacket.
"Of course sir, I'll keep it safe whatever you want to give me." Elvira promised him, even at her young age. She never broke a promise once, she had always believed these promises meant something deep down. So all promises must be kept either way.
Perseus gotten out a few photos from his suit jacket, and they remained on his hand for a moment. One of the photos showed a monument located on an island. The other showed a base that was there too, along with many mounted anti-aircraft weapons too. He extended his hand to her, with the three photos that were in his hand. His eyes focused back to the young girl.
"Here you go young one. These are yours to keep, this is the place where you'll be with me. And my other comrades, a place to call home... These pictures, will help you get the feel of the place. Before where you'll eventually join me, by my side comrade." Perseus explain to her, a soft smile forming on his face. He was starting to like this child, he wanted the best for her already. And he knew what he had to do, he was beginning to plan everything in the fragment of his mind. Many would say he wanted what was best for this child, this place that was "home" Wasn't exactly a perfect home, nor was it for her to grow up and thrive in. The young girl was in deep danger, anything could happen the moment Perseus would leave that house. Him constantly pondering here would be suspicious, that is why he would send the best of his comrades to come down to Berlin instead of him. And he knew, this was going to work one way or another.
Elvira gently took the photos from him, holding them gently to not ruin the pictures. "Thank you sir, I appreciate it... I'll keep these safe no matter what." She held the photos in her hands, and looked down to them again. The photos did look interesting to her, she was a child after all. She still had the curiosity like every child has, so Elvira would easily keep these three photos safe with her.
"You will be a good Comrade to me little one, I just know it. Together we will crush the capitalists, remember no matter what happens comrade... You better strong and brave as you are, we will meet again soon. In that place right there..." His finger pointed to the photo of the base.
"That's Solovetsky, that's where we'll be." He lastly said to her.
"Always remember that, Solovesky."
