Ultimately, Learn More was possessed by The Mind Flayer, who used Billy's body to kidnap the residents of Hawkins and build the Spider Monster. However, despite his remorseful behavior and violent attitude towards Max, he managed to save him with a sling shot. In addition to the violence, Billy's violent behavior is fueled by his own societal anxiety. His behavior is indicative of the way white men perceive black men. The rapacious black brute stereotype was often used to justify countless lynchings in American history. The lynchings were usually framed as a means of retribution for black men approaching white women. In Billy Duffer in Arms, this stereotype is rooted in history.

Am I the only one who doesn't feel like st4 vol 2 is poorly written? Maybe this is a hot take idk but I feel like y'all are being HARD on the Duffer brothers for the sole reason that they killed a good character and didn't make your otp canon

it’s just...the utter heartbreak of max mayfield as a character is just too much for me. she’s so young, but has already built up walls thousands of feet high around her because of her father and her brother. she contends herself with her loneliness, forces herself to accept the fact that her life is crap and it’s most likely going to stay that way. 

then she moves to hawkins.

max mayfield moves to hawkins and gains a support system in the form of best friends who she’ll do anything for, (because fighting monsters from another dimension is a surefire way to form life-long bonds, but max clings to her friends with everything she has regardless. no way in hell is something from the upside down going to tear them away from her), which makes the scene of her breaking out of vecna’s curse so emotionally powerful. she’s fighting to go back to her friends, because her love for them is more powerful than her fear, more powerful than her depression. (and at it’s core, stranger things is a show about characters loving each other so intensely that it ultimately conquers the trauma and blood they face, again and again.) and while it’s incredibly important for the show to explore max’s depression, her conflicted feelings about billy and her thoughts of suicide, seeing all of that ultimately culminate with her in a coma with her arms and legs broken just makes me so mad. of course, i’m sure the duffer brothers won’t kill her, but it feels like an endless cycle of max daring to hope again only to have that hope ripped away from her in the cruelest ways possible.

I know that Steve is probably going to end up with Nancy (ugh) or die in season 5, and I am so bummed at those options. How would he get back with Nancy? Would there even be a proper mourning in the show if he died? I think it would be so much more interesting and unexpected if they addressed the pain he is already in (upside down wounds, breathing toxic air, exhaustion, mourning Max and Eddie, tending to broken hearted Dustin) while allowing him to grow out of romantic yearning for Nance. Alas….

Stranger Things 4 Vol 2: Thoughts ... (mild spoilers, will try to be vague, but also don’t look at any of the tags)

So, that was quite a ride. I tell ya, the older I get, the more emotional I feel towards well-written fictional characters. I was also kind of expecting for everyone to be in the know now, but I guess it’s another *****up (hint: five letters and it’s related to what some do with mishaps). 

Yeah, I was happy with some scenes, cried in others (y’all know), the usual.

Will's anti-Vecna song should be David Bowie's "Heroes"

We know from the new BTS pic that he has headphones and a Walkman. Like Max, he might be fending off Vecna:

Max's anti-Vecna song was highly personal to her. It helped her through her guilt and depression and feeling like she deserved to die.

For Will, "Should I Stay or Should I Go" is cute, but it doesn't have emotional weight. It might have helped a child Will in the Upside Down in s1, when it made him think of home and Jonathan, but he's all grown up now. He's changed.

If Byler becomes realized, David Bowie's "Heroes" is the perfect song for Mike and Will's relationship that would help Will resist Vecna. It's canon that Will likes David Bowie: kid Mike prefers the androgynous rock star over Kenny Rogers (s2e1).

This song is about risking getting shot by East German border police and dragged over barbed wire for love. This is about young love against impossible odds. Having David Bowie's "Heroes" in the show would call-back to Peter Gabriel's somber 2010 cover from s1, when Mike hugged his mom thinking Will was dead. But Bowie's original is defiant, triumphant, and bittersweet. (Seriously, if you haven't yet, listen to it before reading further. It's perfect.)

It would play when Mike and Will have their first kiss. Their song of losing each other is now of finding each other.

If Byler is realized, it could play as Mike and Will dare to hold hands in the school hall, as we fade out to the end credits.

Will would put it on his Walkman. If Will and Mike are bullied for their relationship, "Heroes" perfectly expresses their defiance and willingness to love each other despite the harm that might come to them.

It's the song that would most help Will in case he gets Vecna'd. It doesn't just remind him of Mike; it culminates his journey over the five seasons. As a kid he told Jonathan he's not a baby, not just a victim. Despite seeming shy and weak, he has a huge amount of quiet courage, but his struggle in s3 and s4 was largely internal. ("I'm not gonna fall in love.") Show creator Matt Duffer says about s5: "Will's going to be a big part and focus... We're starting to see his coming of age, really... You're starting to see him come into his own." If Byler becomes real, then his fight becomes external, confronting the homophobia in Hawkins and the literal hell threatening his friends. He will rise to the occasion.

"Will really takes center stage again in [season] 5," Ross Duffer told Variety. "This emotional arc for him is what we feel is going to hopefully tie the whole series together. Will is used to being the young one, the introverted one, the one that’s being protected. So part of his journey, it’s not just sexuality – it’s Will coming into his own as a young man."

In s2, Will only allowed Mike to protect him because he didn't feel pitied by Mike; Mike saw his strength. A stronger Will will pay him back and protect him from the twin dangers they face.

It's Will's turn to be the hero. His fight for others is his fight for himself. "Heroes" perfectly expresses his journey of defying all odds to fight for HIS RIGHT TO LOVE.

“See?” Eddie was saying as Steve kept looking around.

“The only reason I came in here was ‘cause those ladies came in straight after you. Now, I was too ashamed to be the one who stayed behind.” Eddie touched his arm, stilling him, making him look and he did, looked right into Eddie’s eyes as the other kept talking

“But Wheeler right there, she didn’t waste a second. Not one second. She just dove right in.” Eddie looked at him then and paused as he saw Steve staring, he was about to continue when Steve caught movement behind Eddie. Covering Eddie’s mouth he pushed Eddie back against a tree, pressing himself against the other man, his other arm tucking between them to hide the flash light as a Demogorgon appeared a good twenty meters away, its pale body hunched as it sniffed at the ground, it’s weird clicking sound filling the air.

He kept his eyes on the monster as he felt Eddies hands on his hips, fisting the material of the denim vest he was wearing. He could feel Eddies breath on his hand, coming fast and sharp through his nose, but he didn’t dare look at Eddie, too afraid to take his eyes from the monster.

The creature moved around before taking off in the opposite direction.

Sagging, Steve closed his eyes as he lent against Eddies shoulder, taking much needed deep breaths as he had been holding his breath the whole time.

The hand over Eddie’s mouth slowly moved, landing on the other shoulder, while Eddie’s hands unclenched themselves but didn’t move, just stayed, resting on Steve’s hips.

“What was it?” Eddie asked directly into his ear, and Steve shivered, his whole body lighting up at the sound of that voice in his ear, and there was no way Eddie didn’t feel it.

Pulling back, but keeping himself pressed against the other, he looked at Eddie as his breathing returned to normal.

They stared openly, their eyes locked until Steve looked down at Eddie’s lips, lips that parted as Eddie took in a shocked breath. Glancing back up, the hand on Eddie’s shoulder moved, finger grazing over a lightly stubbled chin.

“Steve?”

“I don’t want Nancy, I haven’t for years.” He moved his fingers to Eddie’s bottom lip, watching as Eddie’s eyes darkened even more, his pupils impossibly huge.

He could feel his own heart and Eddie's through the hand between them, and he once again looked at Eddie’s lip before back up, questioning.

Eddie barely nodded and Steve kissed him, soft, gentle just lips against lips but it was enough to answer the question he had racing through his head since Eddie pushed him against the boat house, his lips really were as soft as they looked.
