Will's anti-Vecna song should be David Bowie's "Heroes"
We know from the new BTS pic that he has headphones and a Walkman. Like Max, he might be fending off Vecna:
Max's anti-Vecna song was highly personal to her. It helped her through her guilt and depression and feeling like she deserved to die.
For Will, "Should I Stay or Should I Go" is cute, but it doesn't have emotional weight. It might have helped a child Will in the Upside Down in s1, when it made him think of home and Jonathan, but he's all grown up now. He's changed.
If Byler becomes realized, David Bowie's "Heroes" is the perfect song for Mike and Will's relationship that would help Will resist Vecna. It's canon that Will likes David Bowie: kid Mike prefers the androgynous rock star over Kenny Rogers (s2e1).

This is a heroic love song. Bowie starts out crooning but pretty soon he ramps up and belts it out hard. This song is about risking getting shot by East German border police and dragged over barbed wire for love. This is about young love against impossible odds. It's about that gloriously tragic fantasy... of giving our life in some grandly romantic way to save the life of our beloved. Maybe by taking a bullet for them and dying in their arms in the shadow of the Berlin Wall.
Having David Bowie's "Heroes" in the show would call-back to Peter Gabriel's somber 2010 cover from s1, when Mike hugged his mom thinking Will was dead. But Bowie's original is defiant, triumphant, and bittersweet. (Seriously, if you haven't yet, listen to it before reading further. It's perfect.)
It would play when Mike and Will have their first kiss. Their song of losing each other is now of finding each other.
If Byler is realized, it could play as Mike and Will dare to hold hands in the school hall, as we fade out to the end credits.
Will would put it on his Walkman. If Will and Mike are bullied for their relationship, "Heroes" perfectly expresses their defiance and willingness to love each other despite the harm that might come to them.
It's the song that would most help Will in case he gets Vecna'd. It doesn't just remind him of Mike; it culminates his journey over the five seasons. As a kid he told Jonathan he's not a baby, not just a victim. Despite seeming shy and weak, he has a huge amount of quiet courage, but his struggle in s3 and s4 was largely internal. ("I'm not gonna fall in love.") Show creator Matt Duffer says about s5: "Will's going to be a big part and focus... We're starting to see his coming of age, really... You're starting to see him come into his own." If Byler becomes real, then his fight becomes external, confronting the homophobia in Hawkins and the literal hell threatening his friends. He will rise to the occasion.
"Will really takes center stage again in [season] 5," Ross Duffer told Variety. "This emotional arc for him is what we feel is going to hopefully tie the whole series together. Will is used to being the young one, the introverted one, the one that’s being protected. So part of his journey, it’s not just sexuality – it’s Will coming into his own as a young man."
In s2, Will only allowed Mike to protect him because he didn't feel pitied by Mike; Mike saw his strength. A stronger Will will pay him back and protect him from the twin dangers they face.
It's Will's turn to be the hero. His fight for others is his fight for himself. "Heroes" perfectly expresses his journey of defying all odds to fight for HIS RIGHT TO LOVE.

It always got me how, right from the beginning, Will is depicted as doing exactly the right thing. The thing that you would usually be yelling at the screen for the characters to do when they're being stupid:
He's honest with Mike, when he sees the monster he abandons his bike and runs, he locks the door and puts the chain on, he immediately yells for his mom and Jonathan, he phones 911, and when all else fails, at the age of fucking twelve, he grabs a gun to defend himself. And despite all that, he never stood a chance. We're supposed to root for him. It makes it that much more satisfying when he's saved in the end.
Similarly, in s4 Will is shown to do everything right to help his sister and his best friend. He supports El at school, he argues with her about being honest with her boyfriend, he fights to see her when she gets arrested, spends an entire season looking for her while acting as their relationship counsellor, and when all else fails, he gives his love confession that he'd been holding in for years as hers, because he cares more about seeing them happy than himself. Will resigns himself to suffering in silence for the sake of the people he loves, he thinks he never stood a chance because he feels like he's alone, he feels like a mistake and WE ARE MEANT TO ROOT FOR HIM.
All in all, I think this is just another beautiful way they've set up byler endgame. That mirrored catharsis of Will doing the right thing, only to go through so much undeserved pain, before he can finally live and get what he deserves, will be so very worth it and will make for a great main character arc :')

will knowing how to use a gun at the age of 11 (or even younger) is not badass, it's traumatic. he was just a kid. no child should have a gun in their hands. he tried so hard to be loved by his own father, "it's fun to go with him sometimes" he wanted to spend time with him, even if it was doing things he didn't like. he was a child desperately wanting to be loved by his father
guns have an emotional baggage for him, they remind him of his dad's abuse and his attempt to defend himself from being kidnapped when he was just a child. he looked absolutely terrified in the shootout scene in s4, while jonathan and mike were trying to protect him
all i'm saying is that will doesn't need a gun in his hands to save the world

My favorite thing about Will Byers is that he is sensitive and traumatized, but he's also snarky and sarcastic. He's not afraid to cry, and he puts everyone's happiness above his, but he will call you out if he doesn't agree with something you say. He will freak out and panic in a violent scenario (like almost everyone else does), but when he needs to, he can pick up a gun and defend himself. He has been called many names and slurs by classmates and his own father, but he is able to accept himself for who he is, and he doesn't let his feelings for Mike get in the way of their friendship. He stays quiet in public, but he will rant in private. He was abused and bullied, but he treats everyone with the utmost kindness and respect. He has given up on ever finding love for himself, but he's honestly somehow the most emotionally mature member of the party, and he actually gives really good advice despite never having been in a relationship.
Will Byers is character with many layers, and too many people reduce him to a sensitive boy who cries all the time, or to a gay kid who hates himself and is in love with his best friend, when there is so much more to his character than that.

The classic 'babygirlification' of Michael Wheeler. Will cries easily, looks frail, is sensitive, is an artist, doesn’t express interest in girls - the stereotypical queer. Mike is supposed to represent the guy that isn’t incredibly manly but basic enough nobody pins him as gay. He rarely cries, has a girlfriend, etc. Instead he is made out to be far more feminine than he is because people confuse Will with Noah, Mike with Finn. This is just the tip of the iceberg
- 30 year olds talking about the intimate details of Will and Mike’s sex life because why not, right? No, talking about which is the top and which is the bottom is totally not weird, they are talking about them aged up! Haha….. 💀
- "Guys!!! I found something! I may be looking too much into it, but.." *proceeds to post piece of evidence or Byler proof that has been pointed out millions of times and discussed to death* - soon we will have fans popping in to say they discovered blue meets yellow in the west from that Russian code represents Byler…
