Ditching D&D Beyond or never got it in the first place? Here's some free/pwyw resources.
Dicecloud. This online app allows you to make and track character sheets for free! It does a lot of the calculations for you, just like dnd beyond would. Best overall replacement. (Thank you, @chryslerisdead)
PWYW Class Character Sheets by Emmet Byrne. These character sheets in my opinion, are easier to fill out and harder to mess up, with class-specific features built-in. You can easily edit them digitally, and there's even multiclass/homebrew options. Slap em on Google drive or something, share with your DM, lots of options.
Point-Buy Calculator. Easily automates character stat creation if you're using the Point-Buy system.
5e Level Up Tool. Select your class, select your level, get a digestible checklist of everything you need to do to level up. This one is SO GOOD and so slept on.
5e Spellbook. A quick way to reference your spells and build a Spellbook with a ton of filters.
Encounter Calculator. I know challenge rating isn't everything, but this is a good/fast way to see how balanced your encounters are, at a glance, at least in the eyes of the source books.
RPGbot. Lots of resources for DMs and players: encounter builders, dpr calculators, and lists of player options with sample builds and optimization suggestions, which may be helpful to folks new to the game.
Bonus: Online Tools (System Agnostic)
Here.fm. This is the alternative I use instead of roll20, because it's faster/easier. Drag and drop in maps and tokens in seconds, built-in library of stickers you can use for effects, draw right on the virtual tabletop, use temporary drawings to map out moves, built-in dice rollers, and options for proximity chat. I use it in combination with discord (just have players join your here room muted), but it could be used entirely on it's own, I imagine. Not built for ttrpgs, but works incredibly well for them.
Kenku.fm. A PWYW mini browser focused on mixing and sharing music to your dnd games through whatever app you use, with helpful discord support. This app also LEGALLY bypasses the issue that got all the YouTube discord bots shut down, so you can share YouTube audio worry-free.

flapkan. Holy shit, this might be the BEST character sheet option on this list! Form-fillable pdfs with fully automated built-in prompts to auto fill features and spells, built-in Point-Buy and other automated calculations, and it generates a lot for you. Can be used digitally or you can print!

very minor Curse of Strahd module gripe i have: Castle Ravenloft being chapter 4 of the module and i wish it was the last chapter of the module instead bc it's quite long
like
it makes complete sense since theoretically you can go straight from Village of Barovia to Castle Ravenloft so it being the chapter right after Village of Barovia in the module makes sense, but also it's like almost fucking 50 pages. and that's not bad by itself and it's not an issue if you're reading the module on 5e tools (and i presume dndbeyond's version) but if you're using a pdf or the physical book (without physical bookmarks) it's a pain in the ass to constantly have to flip through or scroll past it to get to the rest of the module. i feel like i'd really appreciate if it was the last chapter bc of that. like Argynvostholt is also pretty long but also it's later in the module

A6 Journal Collection for Dungeon23
A free printable collection of 54 coloured A6 dot-grid journals for Dungeon23, an alternative design for your Dungeon Year journalling needs.
Includes multiple printable versions in cyan, b&w, and cyan with coloured covers.
432 pages encompassing 54 8-page A6 booklets, each with a different colour cover in a subdued CMY gradient that cycles into darker shades for the final months.
Each booklet is printed one-sided on one A4 page - just cut once & fold to A6 size to make each 8-page booklet: that's 54 pieces of paper, representing 52 weeks and 2 appendices. Instructions here (by Ashley Topacio):
Each booklet features a non-repro cyan dot-grid (even on the cover) with a tidy white border on all sides and a logo on each cover that I pulled from the Dungeon 23 Asset Pack by @lonearchivist and recoloured for each individual booklet, plus two appendices (a calendar booklet & an index table booklet).
If you want to keep up a writing or design exercise I think you should remove as many barriers as possible: you're only confronted with a tiny A6 page, every week you get to look back and mark your progress, you can always stop at the end of each week, no pressure to continue if you're not still having fun, and a fresh start every time you open a new week's booklet.
Easily scan and remove backgrounds to create ready-to-upload printable zines that you can publish each week!
There's nothing but dots on each page so you can scribble or scrawl or add a room description or encounter table or hexmap or anything you feel inspired to create.
Maybe you don't want to do one 52-week mega-dungeon? Why not 52 week-long dungeons instead?
Bind completed booklets into months or seasons (I'm going to try and bind them into a full year, with a sewn cover for the collection and instruction downloads coming in a future update).

Hello, I know you're not an expert and that you're probably on hiatus, but I need some advice
Basically I have an 8 year old chihuahua which we got when we still didn't know much about dogs. She's very nice most times, but when we give her a treat she gets aggressive, she doesn't even eat it, just keeps it next to her and barks at us if we get near. Sometimes she does that even without a treat.
She probably has a behavioral issue, but my parents don't want to hire an actual dog trainer because "it's a waste of money" (somewhat understandable considering we're in a very rough spot rn), so any advice on how to stop this behavior helps

So your dog is showing classic signs of resource guarding, which is a behavioral issue, but it is one that can sometimes be handled without a trainer, especially if your dog hasn't ever escalated to biting.
If you can afford it, I would recommend getting the book “Mine!” by Jean Donaldson. It's a guide book for dealing with resource guarding from the ground up.

a REALLY frustrating thing about the Invisible Sun spell deck PDF is that it organizes every spell alphabetically rather than by level first THEN alphabetically
this is making trying to organize what spells I have enough acumen and downtime to consider learning a fucking nightmare
I like this system, but the way the play materials are set up is almost actively hostile to remote play or to any player who prefers to work with materials in a digital format over physical for any reason
#if you're unfamiliar with the system this PDF is officially distributed and legally obtained so this is just how the designers laid it out#(yes i know this is how D&D books are laid out too and I hate it there as well)#(this is just the latest struggle with reference materials i've had with IS)
