Deciding on two sashing colours in the corner of this little lap quilt is… interesting. FUN! But interesting.

Isaiah 41:9 (NIV) -
I took you from the ends of the earth,
from its farthest corners I called you.
I said, ‘You are My servant’;
I have chosen you and have not rejected you.

Adding decorative paper
This is the part where it’s decided whether or not the corners turn out even.
To make the best of the paper pattern I made a template first. I already had my paper cut roughly to size, so the template was going to be the same size. I traced the cover and marked the corners. This is were the previous template to make the corners came into play after I’ve cut all the turn-ins and overlaps away to get the size of the visible corner.
with the finished template for decorative paper I could also see which parts of my decor would be lost when cutting the cover paper.
I don’t cut the corners off in on diagonal cut though. With only a slight overlap that would result in visible cardboard on the inside of my book, cutting the turn-in part of the cover straight prevents that from happening (a bigger overlap would also do the trick, but those feel clumsy to me so I don’t do that).
I addted the decorative paper starting from the front edge. When moistened paper will stretch, if I start from the spine my carefully cut corners will not turn out even because of that stretch and I’m going for even corners here.
There are slight differences between the corners. They are about 1mm, but each corner in itself is even. I take that as a success.
(I actually cleared out the turn ins, but forgot to take a picture of that again)
