My Husband ┃CS55
summary: Y/N attends her husband's home race but didn't expect to find the "popular" girl at her high school back in the day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sun was seen over the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit while the Spanish Grand Prix was taking place. Y/N, dressed in an elegant yet casual dress that perfectly combined glamor and comfort, strolled through the paddock with an air of confidence. Her husband, Carlos, was focused on preparations for the next race, leaving her free to immerse herself in the exciting atmosphere.
As she toured the different garages and hospitality areas, Y/N couldn't shake the feeling of nostalgia. The roar of the engines brought back memories of her teenager's years when she would never have imagined being there in the paddock. Yet here she was, the wife of one of the sport's most talented drivers.
The familiar murmur of voices interrupted her thoughts and she turned to see a group of people approaching her. Among them was a face from her past: a girl named Carla, who was once the queen bee of her high school. Carla's eyes widened in false surprise when she saw Y/N there.
"Well, well, if it's not little Y/N," Carla sneered, her tone full of mockery. "What brings you to the Spanish Grand Prix? Trying to catch a glimpse of the rich and famous?"
Y/N smiled, refusing to let Carla's comments get to her. "Oh, you know, I've always been an F1 fan. I thought I'd come and support my husband."
''Husband?, so after all you did get a boyfriend?, what a wonderful surprise!''
''Yes, yes I did Carla'' Y/N responded, avoiding the urge to roll her eyes.
Carla smiled and looked at her boyfriend, who was next to her. "Well, we're here because my boyfriend is a big fan. You probably know him, he was with us at school! In fact, today he met all the drivers. It's a dream come true for him."
Y/N raised an eyebrow, recognizing the familiar pattern of Carla trying to outdo her in any situation. "That's fantastic for him. I'm sure meeting the drivers was an unforgettable experience."
''So, is this your first race?''
''In fact no, I have attended several grand prix, although it's probably your first time, so enjoy it Carla!'' And just as she finished saying those words she turned around and walked away from that irritating situation.
The race came to life and Y/N continued to enjoy the event, doing her best to ignore the presence of her ''wonderful'' former high school classmates.
As the checkered flag waved, signaling the end of the race, Y/N once again found herself in the path of Carla and her boyfriend.
"Well, well, look who it is," Carla said with a forced smile. "Did you have fun watching the race, sweetie?"
Y/N sighed inwardly but maintained her composure. "Yes, it was thrilling. Excuse me, I need to find Carlos."
As she tried to walk away, Carla's boyfriend, Y/N's old crush from high school, stepped forward, trying to strike up a conversation with her. Y/N felt a wave of discomfort but remained polite. All she wanted to do was go to her husband and congratulate him on his incredible podium finish in the race.
Suddenly, the crowd around them buzzed with excitement as Carlos Sainz approached, his red racing suit adorned with sponsor logos. Carla and her boyfriend exchanged surprised glances.
"Carlos Sainz!" Carla exclaimed. "What are you doing here?"
Y/N couldn't help but smile triumphantly. "Oh, I didn't mention it before? He's Carlos, my husband, sweetie."
Carlos, oblivious to the tension, politely greeted Carla and her boyfriend. When they noticed, Carla's forced smile faltered and Y/N took the opportunity to gracefully exit the conversation. She walked away from her, leaving behind a speechless Carla and a bewildered old lover.
''Thank God you showed up, I couldn't stand them for another minute''
''You okey mi amor?''
''I'll be better after the celebration for your great podium, cariño''
With their heads held high, Y/N and Carlos walked out holding hands, along with the shiny trophy, ready to have a great night.

Hey, I've been reading through your posts about how tourism and digital nomads and expats are gentrifying all kinds of cities and places in Spain and price out the locals and don't respect the culture and only put money in the hands of the wealthy.
I completely understand where you are coming from and what you're saying makes a lot of sense, but as an extranjero who wants to visit Spain, what are some things we can do to support the locals and also celebrate your culture while visiting?
Kaixo anon! Thanks for your message ^_^
I know that we all travel on a budget and are very much used to low costs in everything, and many of the suggestions I'm gonna write are quite more expensive than maybe other alternatives. This is another issue: affording ethical tourism is a privilege not many visitors have.
avoid big hotel chains and AirBnB. Instead, choose little, family-owned hotels. They usually are in villages not far from the big touristy town and also provide a calm space out of the noisy crowd.
avoid restaurant chains and fancy ones, since 99% of the times they're owned by a board of investors. Run away from those with menus displayed on blackboards written in English, they're usually unauthentic tourist traps with poor quality food. Instead, choose family restaurants offering homemade, real Spanish food. There are maaany of these, and they're a terrific experience.
if you're willing to buy some groceries, avoid supermarkets. Choose any good-looking fruit shop, or butcher's, or fishmonger's. Go to local markets and buy local produce.
if you're moving around, use public transportation or a bike. Avoid renting a car or boat and polluting our hometown and seas. If you're moving between towns, choose the train if possible instead of booking a flight.
And regarding the celebration part, some simple pieces of advice:
unless you're Latin or Mediterranean-looking, you're gonna be spotted as a guiri at first sight. You can do nothing to stop being a guiri, but don't behave like one. Since you're an easy target, be especially wary with your belongings and with people that suddenly approach you, they might be thieves. Don't walk with your map in hand 24/7. Leave your valuables at home or at your accomodation. Don't think Spain is your playground where local law doesn't apply to you because you're spending your money there. Behave like you would normally do at home.
many foreigners don't understand Spanish service. Waiters and waitresses won't be all smiles, sweet as candy, asking you non-stop how everything's going. That doesn't mean they're being rude to you and want you out, it's just a different culture: their job is to take your order, get your food, and give you the bill when asked for it. That's all the interaction you'll get. If you need more drinks or bread, you'll just have to politely attract their attention and they will help with your needs.
flow with Spanish schedule. Many tourists are entitled enough to ask for lunch at 12 or for dinner at 7. Of course this won't be a problem in tourist bars and restaurants, but everywhere else this just won't happen. Make sure to ask for the kitchen's working hours if you're interested in having a meal in a certain place and don't ask Spaniards to follow your guiri schedule.
use basic words in Spanish to be polite: buenos días, gracias, hasta luego. You don't need a Spanish proficiency certificate to leave a good impression after you leave and avoid that everyone thinks putos guiris again.
Learn about the different nations inside Spain before your visit. Don't expect flamenco shows in Donostia, or sangría in Santiago. Respect our pride: dressing up as a matador, donning a hat with the Spanish flag, or wearing it as a cape may be very unpleasant and rude for the locals in Catalunya, Euskadi, Galiza, etc. Do your homework prior to your visit and you'll enjoy it much much more, since you'll be able to appreciate all the different cultures that live together around here and what each of them has to offer you.

What’s st.Jordi day? Is it similar to Valentine’s Day in the US?
Tumblr media
oh anon, it's so much more! it's el dia més bonic de l'any (the most beautiful day of the year!) it's the celebration of sant jordi (saint george) who is the patron saint of catalunya and is held on 23 april every year. i wrote in an earlier post that while we are not particularly religious people, celebrating religious traditions and honouring the saints are a big part of spanish culture. sant jordi is especially very important to barcelona and catalunya, so the day is celebration of love but it's also a celebration of catalan culture and why you see so many senyera decorations (catalan flag) and roses everywhere. barça changed its logo (see below) for today too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the symbols of sant jordi are the rose, the book, and the dragon. if you know the legend of sant jordi slaying the dragon, then that's where that reference comes from. it's also why alexia putellas, lucy bronze and other barça players shared the image of the famous gaudí house, casa batlló.
gaudí is like the most famous architect in spain and he designed the sagrada familia cathedral and so many places in bcn. he also designed this house as an homage to sant jordi and it kinda looks like dragon scales from the outside. that is why they decorate it with roses every year and there are actually book stalls nearby too. if you visit barcelona, this is a must visit location. it's beautiful and unique and worth the price.
the rose symbol came about during the 15th century in barcelona where they held a lover's fair, and it became a tradition for men to give women a rose on this day, which is why people compare it to valentine's day. later on the 1920s barcelona created a book festival and held it on 23 april (supposedly the death date of cervantes and shakespeare). then it became a tradition for men to give the women they love a rose and women to give men a book (this includes family members too!) now we don't stick to these strict gender norms anymore, so most people get both roses and books. ☺️
Tumblr media Tumblr media
that's the reason why aitana re-released an updated version of her memoir and held a signing today.
so i think this day holds a lot more importance in spain than maybe valentine's day in america (for example i don't think you all celebrate saint valentine in the same way in the us.) btw, we also celebrate valentine's day (el día de san valentín) in spain just like they do in many places around the world on 14 feb, but it's not that big a deal. like halloween it feels like something we took from america and is an excuse to have a party or go have a nice dinner 🤷‍♀️

Pls pls pls share any info you have about marches and solidarity in Catalunya/Barcelona for our brothers in Palestine. I don’t see anything. A genocide is happening as we speak, that has been going on for 70 years of struggle for freedom. They are civilians, with the majority under 18, not Hamas. They have no water, no electricity, no hospitals. They’re told to run for their lives like animals but the borders are closed!!!! Isreal bombed Lebanon and Egypt to stop them from even opening their doors. This isn’t a war. They are being buried alive, families are staying home in the hope of dying together. Imagine going to the funeral of a friend and coming back home to your kids under rubble, the faces and garden burned by white phosphorus. The media relying countless debunked lies. Nothing said of the illegal settlement, kidnapping, sexual abuse, UN crimes against humanity, nothing is done. The US and Europe are rolling out laws to stop even showing the Palestinian flag, can’t write on insta or twitter. Few jewish ppl are speaking up against the violences but are immediately shut down. Anyone expressing support is automatically a terrorist. Sounds familiar? Sounds fascist? Have we forgotten that the colonizer’s gov has always been religious far-right since it’s creation. They desperately want to us to believe they are defending themselves in a 2 sided war. It’s not 2 sided when one side is being obliterated with and the other side can take a commercial light to their second house in New York. It’s not 2 sided when one side is waiting for death and the other side can go around the corner to a McDonald to cry about how horrible it is that the other McDonald is closed. Nothing makes sense. I feel sick. My heart cries, their struggle is our struggle, of all the oppressed minorities fighting for their right to freedom, their right to speak their language and live on their lands
Hi. Hm I think if you haven't seen anything, you haven't been looking much, nor watching the news. There have already been rallies to show support to Palestine in Barcelona.

On Wednesday, hundreds protested in front of the EU delegation in Barcelona:

Today (Saturday) again, more than 700 hundred people have marched in the center of Barcelona:

The movement in solidarity with Palestine has been very strong in the Catalan Countries for decades. You can keep up by following the Palestinian and solidarity organisations in our country, I'll copy-paste the links from a post I made some months ago:
Organitzacions de solidaritat dels Països Catalans amb Palestina:
Prou complicitat amb Israel: web, Instagram, Twitter.
BDS Catalunya: web, Twitter.
BDS País Valencià: Instagram, Twitter.
Comunitat Palestina a Catalunya: web, Twitter, Instagram.
I a nivell internacional:
Jewish Voices for Peace: web, Instagram.
BDS National Committee: web, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook.
(That being said, of course Israel is the only one who can stop the violence because they're the ones who are occupying Palestine and enacting violence on Palestinians every single day since the creation of the state of Israel, but there are parts of your ask that don't seem very tactful where right now there is also Israeli people dying. That doesn't change the fact that this was fabricated by their state, but I don't think it does anyone any favour to pretend like they're not having a bad time as well. It just seems like an odd way of phrasing this.)

Pretty flags in the stadium, and also the ominous dark clouds that forewarned that we would get rained on the second half.
For context Catalunya is under the effects of a drought, so we can’t be upset about it raining, however it’s also been unseasonably warm and this was the coldest day of the entire two weeks I’ve been in Barcelona and it just so happened this was the day I had to go sit outside for two hours in the rain and watch a football game. I ended up buying a jacket (urgh it was so expensive) because I was just so fucking freezing and it was only looking to get colder after half time. Then of course it started raining and I was even more glad to have the jacket (though it’s still stupid expensive)
Tumblr media
At the end of the game the players came and clapped the ultras, who were two sections left of me, and it was like they were clapping us too since we were in the same area. It was really cool, but I don’t have pictures because I was clapping them back
Tumblr media
Players leaving the field!
Et voilà, that’s the end! It was a good game, I’m glad I went. Probably wouldn’t go again, except to see what a game at Camp Nou is like, or to experience El Clásico.

Tens of thousands of people marched through Barcelona on Sunday to protest against plans to grant Catalan separatists an amnesty in exchange for their political support for a new left-wing government.
Many of the protesters waved Spanish and Catalan flags or signs saying "No Amnesty!" as they flooded into the city center.
Police said the crowd was 50,000 strong, while organizers — Societat Civil Catalana (SCC), a civil society group opposed to the region breaking away from Spain — put the figure at 300,000.
Acting Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez' of the Socialist bloc is trying to secure a new term in office and must strike a deal with the Junts and Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya parties to gain enough parliamentary support.
Jailed separatist leaders, activists would be freed
The amnesty deal would see charges dropped against more than a thousand Catalan separatists who are facing legal action for the 2017 independence bid. Many of those involved are already in jail.
The proposal has drawn a furious response from the right and the far-right, as well as from some within Sanchez's own Socialist party, who say an amnesty cannot be used as a bargaining chip for him to remain in power.
Alberto Nunez Feijoo, leader of the opposition conservative People's Party and Santiago Abascal, leader of the far-right Vox party attended Sunday's march, telling the crowd:
"This is not an amnesty that seeks reconciliation. The only thing it seeks is to make [Sanchez] the head of the government."
Abascal denounced the plan as "an assault on the Constitution," accusing Sanchez of carrying out "real abuses" in order to stay in power.
Inconclusive election led to months of wrangling
Spanish politics has been in limbo since the inconclusive election in July.
The People's Party won the most seats but even with the support of Vox failed to secure a parliamentary majority.
Despite months of subsequent negotiations, Feijoo was unable to gain the support of smaller parties to form a governing coalition.
This week, King Felipe VI gave Sanchez permission to seek the backing of other political parties for a new mandate.
To win the parliamentary vote, he needs the backing of seven lawmakers from a hardline Catalan separatist party that has demanded the amnesty.
Sanchez has defended his conciliatory policy with Catalonia, including a 2021 pardon to nine jailed leaders, and said the 2017 crisis "brought nothing good."
Most Spaniards against amnesty
But the amnesty deal doesn't have the support of most Spaniards, according to a poll last month.
Around 70% of respondents — 59% of them Socialist supporters — said they were against the idea of an amnesty.
If no candidate for prime minister secures a majority by November 27, a repeat election has to be called.

Did you see that disgusting clip R*al M*drid posted on their twitter?! Man oh man i don't even know what to say... what a lying shitty club they got there, i didn't think they could stoop so low but turns out they actually can. I'd like to see Barca fight back with another video or something of the sort but at the same time i start to think that maybe we're better off with just having Laporta speaking for us here and there, stooping to their low level might be a mistake, but i mean, if we do that im totally here for it, we gotta defend ourselves and what they claimed on that clip was disgusting and potentially damaging towards us
Hi anon. Yes. I saw part of it and was so disgusted, I couldn't finish it but read the allegations that were made against Fc Barcelona. Even a high ranking Barcelona government politician criticized it, she said " It's a manipulation of history, and very irresponsible" she asked for an apology. She called it "textbook manipulation" (for me that's calling RM low key fascist/fake news spreaders). Like Franco killed Catalan-nationalist and Catalan independence activist, they are sitting in unmarked mass graves still to this day.People were jailed by Franco's regime for speaking Catalan. You know how offensive it is that Real Madrid would publish that video? It's like telling Jews that they were actual benefactors of Hitler during his term in power. It's a fucking disgrace. I will reply to others with more details and historical context bc more people asked about this.
Part of the club's indentity is the Catalan identity and they believe in Catalan independence as a culture and as a state. That's why they speak Catalan instead of Spanish. Spanish nationalist and some Madridistas fucking hate that, here you can see the Flag of Catalunya, independent version, the cultural acceptable one doesn't have the star with the blue triangle, the one that symbolizes a free Catalunya does.

F1 Re-Watch 2013: Round 7 - Canada
oh man I have SUCH vivid memories of watching this race live at the time. This was back when my Mum and my Step-Dad were still just dating, and we alternated weekends of either staying at my Step-Dad’s or him and my Step-Brother staying with us (not really relevant, but anyway). Time differences being what they are, the Canada race start is early evening UK time, which is when most people would be sitting down for dinner.
And my Step-Dad, bless his heart, saw how excited I was to be watching F1 again after so many years, said it was fine for me to have my dinner in the living room so I could watch the race (I mean, the layout of his house meant that the kitchen and living room were right next to each other, but the sentiment still meant a lot 😭)
ANYWAY, this was Seb’s first win in Canada (a very sexy lights to flag win, we love to see it), and the race that I decided to start supporting Seb - not because he won, but bc I felt bad for him being booed on the podium. AND we get a Sewis podium. So I’m beyond excited to watch this one back!
“It’s one of two tracks on the current calendar he [Seb] hasn’t won at” KING SHIT
iirc the other track was Catalunya? I could be wrong
anyway starting grid:
Seb on pole 🥰
Lewis P2, a Sewis front row my beloved 💖
Bottas P3. In a Williams (it was a wet quali)
JEV P7!!!
Dan P11 and Jenson P14. pain.
Helmet watch: Seb has a v sexy charcoal/gunmetal grey helmet.
[Formation Lap]: All but 4 cars starting on the super softs
cut to Claire Williams bc it was Williams’ first P3 in yonks, bless
[Start/Lap 1]: Seb just shot off the start line, that’s my boy!!!!
Lewis holds P2, and Rosberg and Webber both jumped Bottas
[Lap 2]: looooads of shuffling about in the midfield 😵‍💫
Seb already has a 2.7 second lead dbvuuhdfbuhd
He really said you can fight me for this win at your peril
[Lap 3]: ...and Seb fastest lap 😅
oh man the replay of Bottas v Alonso 👌
[Lap 6]: And Jev takes P6 for Bottas
Sutil got tapped into a spin, and somehow no one drove into him 😳
[Lap 7]: and to make his afternoon worse Maldonado just lightly drove into his rear with a small amount of carbon fibre confetti
[Lap 8]: Seb watch: his gap to Lewis is now 4.4 seconds.
Man it is very weird to hear GP on Di Resta’s radio sdvhduvhdf
[Lap 10]: Worth adding that Lewis also has a 4+ second gap over Rosberg so he and Lewis are just in their own little races while everyone else fights over the rest of the points
Not the replay of Seb brushing against the concrete barriers, my blood pressure did not enjoy that
[Lap 11]: Jev in P6 and Dan in P8, now that’s MY Scuderia Toro Rosso
[Lap 13]: Jenson’s down in 12th 🥲
But Seb’s gap over Lewis is now 7.8 seconds. The duality of faves.
[Lap 15]: Rosberg pits from P3 and stays in front of Webber
“I want 3-4 laps at this pace.” “I’m pushing.” Bono and Lewis just doing Bono and Lewis things.
[Lap 16]: Seb pits for a set of mediums, as does Alonso
[Lap 18]: Rosberg’s brakes are apparently overheating, bc that’s what you want to hear in Canada of all tracks
Lewis still hasn’t pitted yet
Jenson into P10!!! But he’s yet to stop :(
[Lap 19]: and Lewis pits for the mediums, he comes out in P2.
“His [Lewis’] only problem is Sebastian Vettel” Just Seb and Lewis things: being a thorn in the other’s side (affectionate)
[Lap 21]: 10.9 second gap between Seb and Lewis. sheesh.
Seb really said I gotta go fast fast
[Lap 23]: Not related to anything happening on track, but the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is very pretty, easily one of my favourites on the calendar
Plus, for me at least, it’s one of the tracks where I just really enjoy watching a car do a lap, it’s a really great circuit
[Lap 24]: The gap between P1 and P2 is now 13.5 seconds. Thirteen point five.
SEBASTIAN
He just set a 1:18.4
I mean I utterly adore him, but also holy shit
That’s my beloved menace to society 💖
[Lap 27]: Rosberg and Webber continue to scuffle over P3
But suddenly: Alonso
(jaws music plays in the background)
[Lap 28]: Pros of Seb shooting off into the distance: it’s sexy as hell. Cons: There are only fleeting glimpses of him on the TV feed 😭
but GOD I’d really missed him goating like this
[Lap 30]: The gap is 17 seconds, if anyone was wondering.
But Alonso has properly joined the battle for P3.
A Merc, a Red Bull and a Ferrari all competing for a podium place. Not to be a grandma on main but these really were the good old days.
[Lap 31]: and Webber finally passes Rosberg, and Alonso does the same into turn 1
[Lap 32]: Seb sighting!!!!
He is still going very, very fast 🏃‍♂️
[Lap 33]: A Webber fastest lap as he tries to catch Lewis
[Lap 35]: I fear I’m going to jinx it even though this is a ten year old race replay, but we still have all 22 cars in the race.
Jev still in P6 🥰
[Lap 36]: aaaand we’re passed half-distance
and van der Garde in not quite letting Webber properly past has given him some front wing damage 😬
unsurprisingly, he’s being investigated for ignoring blue flags
It means that Alonso has really closed up to the back of Webber as a result
[Lap 39]: But they’re both catching Lewis at a decent rate of knots
[Lap 42]: and Alonso gets past Webber into turn 1
and GOSH the prospect of a Seb, Lewis, Alonso podium. Very iconic.
[Lap 43]: another Seb sighting!!!
still going fast, keeping up the good work
dfvhfduvgsd he’s lapped everyone up to P7, this is such a peak Seb drive.
I do see why 16yo me decided ‘I want to support that one’ 😅
[Lap 45]: 8.4 second gap between Lewis and Alonso 👀
[Lap 46]: and another Seb fastest lap
he is currently collecting them like pokemon
“We are racing Jenson.” not more McLaren on McLaren violence I’m not sure if I can take it
[Lap 47]: van der Garde’s very bad, not good race: he is currently driving around with his front wing stuck under his car
(which tbf, is not safe practice, pull over dude)
ah he had an incident with Hulkenberg who has also DNFd
[Lap 49]: and Lewis pits for another set of mediums, he stays in P2
oh gosh the irony of him coming out in-between and lapping the two McLarens
And in comes Seb, also for mediums
and a replay of a very back lock up for Rosberg, I did think it was Lewis for a second because of the almost matching yellow helmets.
[Lap 51]: Hmm, the gap between Lewis and Alonso is now around 6 seconds
another Seb sighting, he went wide at turn 1. Keeping himself humble.
[Lap 53]: oh wild the Lewis v Alonso gap is now about 3 seconds.
[Lap 54]: No one tell Seb that Alonso just got the fastest lap I fear rage
[Lap 55]: Someone told Seb, he’s setting purple sectors.
[Lap 57]: And the Lewis v Alonso gap is 1.7 seconds...
“Please just let me drive man.” Lewis is apparently not very interested in rev counts and temperatures. Poor Bono.
[Lap 58]: and apparently Rocky asked Seb “are you listening?” when he told Seb not to chance the fastest lap. Rocky and Bono should have started a race engineer support group for stubborn drivers.
[Lap 59]: ...and Alonso has caught up to the back of Lewis
this will either be spicy or messy
please don’t be messy
[Lap 60]: I am slightly too nervous to type
[Lap 62]: Lewis still in P2 for now
oh good grief they went side by side into the hairpin
FELLAS
[Lap 63]: aaaand Alonso gets the pass done into turn 1
whew, they very nearly made contact down the main straight
that was stressful
fun, but stressful
[Lap 64]: Seb has a 19 second hap on Fernando, and Lewis has an 8 second gap over Webber, so I think the podium places are pretty safe to stay as is
Lewis is still trying to chase Fernando down though
🍿
[Lap 65]: oh they made contact again, Lewis lost a tiny bit of front wing
[Lap 66]: oh dear Gutierrez in the barriers at turn 1, he’s okay
[Lap 68]: tag yourself edition - Adrian Sutil has been: spun round, driven into, and given a drive through penalty, and he’s somehow still in P10.
[Lap 69]: And I think the grid has finally settled down.
[Lap 70]: FINAL LAP!!!
lol as I say the grid as settled Massa gets past Raikkonen for P8.
and another fastest lap for Webber.
and Seb has set a purple sector 1 🤣
[Finish]: AND SEB WINS!!!!!!
👏🎉🍾
Alonso P2, Lewis P3, Webber P4, Rosberg P5, JEV P6!!!!, Di Resta P7, Massa P8, Raikkonen P9 and Sutil P10.
Wow Seb had lapped everyone bar the top 5. KING SHIT. And turns out Austin was the one track Seb/Red Bull hadn’t won at at this point. But WHEW that was such a goat drive from Seb, he finished 15 seconds ahead of Alonso in the end.
And also the absolute iconic as shit of a Seb, Alonso and Lewis podium. At this point in time they had 6 WDCs between them, if that podium was repeated this year it would be double that. Legen-fucking-dary.
Next race up is Great Britain!

Can you explain what is the deal with the recent protests in madrid and why they're all full of Fascists? I swear i saw someone waving a flag from the spanish empire in the news the other day
Kaixo!!
Yes, hopefully I can!
General elections were held in July, but there still isn’t a President of the Spanish Government. PP leader Feijóo failed to gather votes enough to become President in the Congress, so now PSOE leader Pedro Sánchez is trying. He has already some support, but will only be able to become President just if Catalan party JPC (a Catalan party that was key in the failed referendum for independence of 2017) votes for him.
So JPC and PSOE are negotiating, and it seems like PSOE has accepted JPC demands: that Catalan politicians that were imprisoned and/or accused of the crime of treason are amnestied; and that the 15 billion euros debt Catalunya has with Spain is canceled. Things look good and is almost sure that tomorrow Nov 16 2023 Pedro Sánchez will be named Pesident of Spain again.
While these negotiations were happening, PP and VOX - remember, the ones that couldn't gather enough support to achieve presidency - have been calling their people aka fascists to protest these concessions in the streets which, at first sight, should be nothing wrong.
But reality is quite different:
basically, Spanish nationalist and fascist parties have now started a strategy of street protests to try to get with chaos and an apparent social discomfort what they couldn't achieve at the voting stations.
they are protesting because against aaaaall the polls the right wing won't rule Spain and it's a very hard pill to swallow. The negotiations with Catalunya are just an excuse. They don't care about Catalunya, they just want Spain governed by one of them.
the protesters intended to storm into the PSOE headquarters with iron bars, ropes, sticks, etc, and attacked the police with bottles.
they've been calling Pedro Sánchez homophobic slurs, threatening to kill him, chanting the name of Franco + Francoist mottos and songs, and overall doing fascist things.
PP and VOX allegedly asked them not to bring Francoist flags so media couldn't accuse them of fascists because the parties want them to look like people from every ideology who are against the Catalan amnesty. So they brought imperial flags, flags with the cid, the Habsburg flag, etc. They're not fooling anyone, we all know they're not people with different ideas: they're full on francoists and nazis.

Topps NOW cards feat. George Russell and Lewis Hamilton
Transcript: "George Russell claimed his first podium of the season at the FORMULA 1 GRAN PREMIO DE ESPAÑA 2023. The Englishman had started the race in P12 and produced an excellent start to put himself in podium contention. He continued to push throughout the race making a daring move on Scuderia Ferrari's Carlos Sainz to take third place. The upgrades Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team had made to their car were clearly working and Russell looked comfortable throughout. He eventually took P3 at the chequered flag to claim his first podium of 2023; the first of what could be many if driver and car keep producing these performances"
