You’d do it, officially. You would hate Christmas for the rest of your life. Loki had made sure of that. The wedding had been yesterday—on Christmas Eve. Now officially, Alfheim did not celebrate the Christian holiday, regardless of its stolen aspects from ancient paganism. But you had visited Midgard often enough yourself to grow to love the holiday, not to mention how much your mother had adored it before she passed. You’d been looking forward to decorating and buying Christmas gifts for your loved ones and now here you were: stuck in King Loki’s chambers after a forced but oddly passionate kiss after the ceremony. A few weeks had passed since then and needless to say you had not consummated the marriage just yet.

You had been fuming already, you would have torn him to pieces if he had dared put a hand on you… and… you were pretty sure he was very well aware of that. And while he was the most dominant man that had ever stepped into your life, he respected that. For now. You hated the part of yourself that longed for him to rip your clothes off your body, throw you on the bed and fuck you until you forgot everything but his name.

If Loki was one thing beside an arrogant and power-hungry king, he was handsome. You had noticed it at the ball already. Back then, you would have wished for him to sweep you off your feet. As if your thinking about him had summoned him, Loki barged into his chambers only mere moments later. His quick and confident steps had you tense up, even more so when his stunning blue gaze met yours.

“You are not a prisoner in my chambers. You are free to roam the palace and the realm—as long as a guard accompanies you.”

“I had no need for a guard before I was married to you.”

“Right,” you spat. “And what exactly are the other perks of you asking me for my hand in marriage and not accepting a no?”

For just the fraction of a second, Loki was surrounded by a green shimmering light. The next time you blinked, he had swapped his regal attire for some more comfortable clothes.

“It will reinforce the alliance between Alfheim and Asgard. The kingdom of Alfheim is already very suspicious of me,” he explained as if it was the most logical thing in the nine realms.

“For good reason, Loki.”

“Don’t you dare lecture me. You don’t know anything about what happened. So watch your tongue.”

Fuming, you clenched your fists. “Why me then? Why not any of my half-sisters?”

“Most of them have been promised to others already. One of them to a king in Niflheim, the other to the current princess of Svartalfheim, now that Malekith is dead. Besides, you are part-human. That makes you a valuable pawn to assure my peaceful intentions.”

“Peaceful? Your intentions are anything but peaceful.”

“Are they not?” He tilted his head, making your lower regions clench. Then, he gave you a just the tiniest hint of a smirk. “I do not recall you being present at your council meeting earlier, dear. I very much doubt you get to have a say about any of my intentions.”

“You forced me to marry you!”

“Your father was thrilled and all too eager to send you to Asgard, to me.” Loki looked you dead in the eye, a mocking tone playing in his smooth voice. “Do you truly believe I wish to be married to a bastard daughter of a king? A woman who is half human? You should consider yourself lucky to be by my side rather than resent me for it.”

“Lucky? Lucky?” you screeched. “You ruined my life! You came to Alfheim and drowned everything in chaos! I was free before you claimed me like an object!”

“Please… freedom is life’s great lie,” Loki responded sharply.

“And on Christmas of all days! You decided to wed on Christmas! You have no idea how much this holiday meant to my mother and now you’ve spoiled it, you selfish and arrogant prick!”

“Watch your tone with me!”

“I will not! You made me marry you, now you’re going to deal with what you claimed!”

Loki’s blue eyes widened. It was barely noticeable but it didn’t escape you regardless.

“Where does that new-found passion for hostility come from? You have been awfully quiet over the last few weeks, pet.”

Pet. “I’m not your fucking pet. Heavens, you are so irritating!”

“Well, so are you! A spoiled child who knows nothing of love and life!”

“Me? I’m the spoiled child? My mother was human and I lived a very humble life before you tossed me into his palace. You were the one born with a silver spoon in your mouth!”

“Stop patronising me!” You were both screaming at this point. You couldn’t really care less about what the servants outside of Loki’s chambers must have been thinking. They could know you were not here voluntarily.

It almost seemed like he was trying to hold back. From what, you were unsure. Lashing out? Throwing you out? Getting physical? You swallowed thickly, your mind jumping to an image where Loki threw you over his knees, grabbed a fistful of your dress to reveal your bare bottom and spanked you for your mouth. It infuriated you even more.

“I fucking hate you!” you screamed at him, sitting up so you came to kneel on the bed. One second passed in which Loki narrowed his eyes at you… in the next… his lips were on yours.

Do be sure your wedding venue is LGBTQ-friendly.

The world of wedding venues for all couples is wide open now, and same-sex couples are hosting beautiful weddings in venues that range from restaurants to rustic barns. Cristobal Balenciaga

Cristobal Balenciaga was born in 1885 in Getaria which was a small fishing village in northern Spain. His mother was a stream stress which is how he ended up getting into fashion. He watched her and her clients which where the most fashionable and glamourous women in the village. At the age of only 12 he begin an tailoring apprenticeship in the neighbouring fashionable resort of stan Sebastian. This is where it all started for him as his first fashion house in 1917 named after a shortening of his mothers maiden name- Eisa. Balenciaga opened fashion houses in Barcelona and Madrid before moving to Paris in 1937 the fashion houses (Avenue Georges V) quickly became the cities most popular, most expensive and exclusive couturier. With the apprenticeships and his mother being a seamstress this training help set him apart from the other big designers of his time. With Cristóbal Balenciaga the design process for him started with the fabric not the sketch “it’s the fabric that decides” he stated, showing he could manipulate the materials to show there very best effect. Balenciaga knew the craft inside out and was adept at every stage of the making process. Balenciaga's Spanish heritage influenced a lot of the iconic designs. The wide hipped ‘infanta’ dress from his 1930s collection drew inspiration from the 17th century Spanish artist Diego Velázquez. In the later phase of his career, in the 1950s Balenciaga was pioneering with new shapes never seen before in the women's fashion industry. The radical designs developed season by season as he redefined and reworked at the looks created his style and a name for himself and his fashion house. In 1957 he shocked the fashion world with the introduction of the 'sack dress', a straight up and down shift dress which completely eliminated the waist. At a time when Christian Dior's hour-glass shaped New Look was still dominant, the 'sack' was initially met with hostility from both clients and press. "It's hard to be sexy in a sack!" cried the Daily Mirror. Like many of Balenciaga's most radical designs, this look eventually filtered into the mainstream. The sack dress was the forerunner of the ubiquitous mini-dress of the 1960s and remains a fashion staple today. He then retired and past on the fashion house, however Balenciaga came out of retirement in 1972 to create the wedding dress of Spanish aristocrat and socialite María del Carmen Martínez-Bordiú , he sadly passed two weeks after this.

Place- Balenciaga sell they product online and in store however their main source for purchasing their items is probably online as everyone can access this and is the most relevant way to buy anything now and will be for a long period of time. The items in store are very limited as not a lot of store carry items like these as such as luxurious at Balenciaga's products.

Promotion- Balenciaga advertise in big cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi and Chandigarh just a few examples, they do a lot of celebrity marketing this is such a clever idea to promote a brand as when people see big celebrities wearing the brand, they immediately want to own that, Balenciaga did this with Kim Kardashian she wore a lot of Balenciaga recently which was such a smart idea as Kim is so relevant and on trend now. They also use a lot of social media which is probably the most relevant way of promoting these day as everyoneis using social media and doing campaigns on social media you know everyone will be seeing this and if people are liking and sharing this they can use this of a way of feedback for the company.

Nicolas Ghesquiere took a freelance job that took him to Balenciaga in 1995, when the Balenciaga creative director Josephus Thimister however he was fired two year later, and Nicolas tapped in and it was the start of his 15-year run at Balenciaga. Nicolas reportedly doubled the income of Balenciaga's sale when arriving. Whilst at Balenciaga he delivered us the 1980s inspired fashion and the iconic lariat handbag, he went on to expand the number of collection for Balenciaga and continued to produce innovative design such as the short gladiator style skirt and the toga dresses, knee high gladiator sandals and so much more like collections inspired by some of Balenciaga's original designs.

Balenciaga’s target audience is men and women who live a luxury lifestyle and prefer a different side of sophisticated, however now the time and generation has changed the new target audience is the new generation of fashion enthusiasts. All the customers that buy Balenciaga's products are aware of the trends in fashion and the fashion world of this generation. The target market for Balenciaga is a very wealthy group of people due to the high prices of all the products and especially if they are buying straight of the runway and the ready to wear collection.

Spring 2016 ready to wear runway is my favorite collection. The collection was designed by Alexander Wang just before he left. His final runway called swan song was said to be the freest collection he did for the house. All this collections was made entirely from shade of ivory, all in soft natural fabrics like linen cotton. All the designs looked effortless . The work for this collection started after the announcement that Wang would not be renewing his contract to the Balenciaga fashion house. His las collection was his best collection, some people believe this was because he let his guard down due to it being his last and wanting to focus on creating a signature label of his own. Although the vibes around this collection is very relaxed a lot of smocking, ruching and ladder stitching went into creating this collection while remaining light. I think the entire collection is so beautiful and elegant with also a bit of edge thrown into the mix which make it so interesting and caught my attention when looking through all the collection of Balenciaga throughout the year, this is with out a doubt my favorite, due to the effortlessly pretty vibes it has and all the shapes within the collection.

Fashion designers creating face masks with flair

At fashion weeks in New York and Europe in early February — the precipice of the COVID-19 outbreak — designer shows were peppered with people in face masks.

Some were simple, others ostentatious. At the time, protective masks were still considered a cautionary step rather than a lifesaving necessity in the U.S. “Face masks are the must-have accessory amid coronavirus panic,” said a cheeky headline in the New York Post.

Like many trends, fashionable face masks are the latest thing to trickle down from the runway to retail. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now recommends that all people wear a cloth covering over their nose and mouth in public to help slow the spread of the virus. Designers and big brands have wasted no time adding flair to face masks.

Vogue published online this month a list of 92 stylish cloth face masks to shop right now. Before it declared bankruptcy, J.Crew unveiled pinstripe and gingham print masks for sale. For $9.99 per month, MaskClub will ship you a new one every few weeks with Care Bears, Hello Kitty or the classic Batman logo on it.

Eugenia Kim, a Monroeville native and celebrity milliner in New York City, sold out of the first batch of hologram sequined and satin masks she sells at eugeniakim.com for $20 apiece. “They’re obviously functional, but I think they can be uplifting,” she told The Washington Post’s Robin Givhan.“Project Runway” veteran Christian Siriano took a break from making personal protective equipment for frontline workers to share on social media a couple statement masks, one dripping with pearls and another covered in crystals. In Pittsburgh, face masks that marry fashion with function are hot. FashionAFRICANA founder Demeatria Boccella is launching the FashionAFRICANA Mask Initiative at fashionafricana-masks.myshopify.com. The first ones sell for $12 and are made from African fabrics left over from fashion productions over the years. Future ones will be by designers from African countries.

“I'm very passionate about my culture, and I just keep getting so depressed about how COVID-19 is impacting the African American community and the health disparities that exist within our culture,” she said. “We need something to put a smile on our face, that uplifts us and connects us to our culture.”

Mosaic Inc., a linen rental company in the Strip District, has turned to making fashion-forward face masks via partymosaic.com as a way to adapt to clients’ needs.

“We recognized that the live event industry was going to go dark for a long, long time,” said owner Susie Perelman. “We knew that the obvious pivot for us was to be able use our fabrics to create masks.”

In March, the company released a line of fabrics called Made by Mosaic that are now being used for masks instead of table decor. The colorful masks are lined with piping and have Spandex instead of elastic straps around the ears for a more comfortable fit. A portion of proceeds are donated to local organizations, Ms. Perelman said.

Requests for Pittsburgh-themed prints prompted a black-and-gold collection and more designs are in the works. The black-and-gold masks sell for $10 each.

“We are now getting asked by our clients to add custom-designed masks for guests and event staff to match linens for weddings and other events,” she said.

Pittsburgh-based designer Diana Misetic has been posting photos on social media of chic masks she’s designed. One in a floral print matched her pants and she dressed up neutral colored masks with oversized sunglasses. In one post, she demonstrated how to tie the straps in a small bow. She’s been exploring ways to make masks that are safe, comfortable and stylish to sell.

“This is part of a new lifestyle,” she said. “I want to tell people it doesn’t have to be something you buy just for protection. It can be part of a whole design.”

This is hardly the first time the fashion industry has put its stamp on a necessary item.

“The most obvious one is eyewear,” said Sarah Mullins, assistant professor and assistant chairperson of the footwear and accessories design department at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

“Glasses, especially optical frames, were worn to correct your vision. Now people wear them for style even if they have 20/20 vision,” said Ms. Mullins, who grew up in Shadyside and Squirrel Hill.

Handbags originated as pouches for coins and now are a $50 billion industry, she added, and don’t forget about belts. “All you have to do is look at the 1980s for how they were worn as fashion accessories.”

Face masks have ebbed and flowed in popularity for centuries. In the 1600s, doctors wore beak-like masks that could be stuffed with incense because it was believed plagues were spread through pungent smells. Cloth face coverings were common during the 1918 flu pandemic and in 2002 when SARS appeared in China.

Ms. Mullins credits the DIY maker movement for accelerating the latest resurgence of face masks. In early April, Etsy CEO Josh Silverman reported that 20,000 of its shops were selling them.

“With free online sharing of patterns, anyone with the desire to make a mask could make one,” she said.

Some have questioned how brands and makers have tried to put a positive spin on something born out of a pandemic.

“It is hard to avoid the nagging sense that designers are exploiting fear born during a pandemic for their own ends [and profit], and that consumers are using what is a medical necessity, one that is the most visible representation of the pain and isolation currently shared by so many, in a decorative way,” New York Times fashion director and chief fashion critic Vanessa Friedman wrote recently. “Capitalist opportunities often emerge from times of trauma. This may be one of them. But that doesn’t make the origin story any less uncomfortable.”

Fashion and tragedy often go hand in hand. Ms. Mullins said. “Historically tuberculosis shaped Victorian fashion by influencing the wearing of corsets. Consumptive chic referred to the thin and pale symptoms suffered by the afflicted that became markers of beauty.

“Similarly, heroin chic was a fashion trend in the mid ’90s.”

While some brands are selling masks for hundreds of dollars, no one’s getting rich from them. Burberry, Lacoste, Under Armour, Brooks Brothers and Adidas are a few of the companies marketing them.

“I think more brands and designers started making masks to help with the shortage of supplies than to make money,” Ms. Mullins said. “I do not think anyone is making enough money from face masks to make up for the money they are losing during this pandemic.”
