Kameron getting confused and turning to the biological father of her baby who she hardly knows because her husband is having prefatherhood nerves and Buck now yet again having to fix other peoples problems, which while he loves to help, is getting kind of old
Buck did all of this for his friend to become a father and have a child to love the way that he loves Christopher, this baby is not his, it’s Conner and Kamerons, Buck seems to be the only person that remembers that detail in this equation, he now has to remind them, and I really hope he verbally acknowledges his own relationship with Chris to prove his point

Christopher: *Fast-forwards all the way through the movie*
Buck: Why are you skipping all the way through the movie? You can’t just skip to the happy ending, Chris!
Christopher: I don’t have time for their problems.

Buck showed an astronomical amount of growth in this episode, from his leadership skills (601) to his professionalism when delivering a baby (season 1) to his ability to separate himself and give the baby away to his real parents despite his own feelings (the entire donor arc). to say he hasn't shown any growth because he stayed in a relationship that, up until this point, and despite the audience being able to see thematic clues that it won't last in the long run, is very new and despite the one hiccup that got resolved with a genuine apology he has not had any reason to turn away from, is a disservice to his character and also just. unfair

idk chim’s dad saying it’s unnatural for a man to raise a child fathered by another man in a conversation about buck while buck is literally helping eddie raise christopher. there is something so inherently queer there.

if one of the interruptions to buck and natalia's dates is eddie and chris showing up, i absolutely cannot wait for natalia to bring up the 'so freaking cool' of it all and for eddie to open his mouth only for chris to beat him to it with gavin's particular brand of devastation as he says "it didn't feel cool when i thought i was going to lose another parent"

Ok I think I’ve figured it out (probably not but I'm connecting dots !!)
Buck misunderstood the assignment right - but we never really knew what that assignment was, we had lots of theories about it being his heart - him thinking that it was his heart that needed fixing or working on etc. But he’s allergic to naproxen - he’s allergic to the drug they give to those who have heart problems (because its safer - thanks @rogerzsteven for that info in this post )
Bucks heart has never been the problem - that’s why he drew one that was full of sunshine and rainbows - his heart is there full of love and joy - but he thought that that wasn’t right or enough and so he’s spent all this time trying to understand where there is nothing to understand. No what Bucks assignment is is to trust in the love he receives from others, trust that he is valued and wanted and needed - his brain is what gets in his way, not his heart - the voices in his head that tell him he’s too much or not enough or whatever other negatives they are telling him.
Bucks assignment was never about his heart, it was always about him trusting his own voice, his own mind and actually what his heart has been and is still telling him

Tagged by @devirnis for Fuck it Friday! I thought of a way to do the lightning strike in the people become invisible to Buck when they’re close to death au… started writing it this morning…
In May, Buck stands in Hen and Karen's backyard with Eddie's arm around his waist. He'd cried through the ceremony because weddings always make him cry no matter who’s at the alter, but specifically because it was Hen and Karen and they'd looked so beautiful and so happy and he loves them so, so much.
It had been a rough year but he's standing in Hen and Karen's backyard and Eddie's arm is around his waist and he's coming back to work soon. He looks beautiful and happy, too, face no longer gaunt, exhausted, afraid. Afternoon sun hits his flushed skin and Buck never wants to look away.
He's standing in Hen and Karen's backyard with Eddie's arm around his waist and Karen grins at him and asks "So, when is it your turn?"
"Oh," he laughs a nervous laugh, eyes skittering off Eddie into the bushes. "Uh- I mean, he's already done the whole marriage thing, I don't know if…"
"Buck," Eddie says, and when Buck looks back at him he finds nothing but love there. "Sure I'll marry you."
"Oh," Buck says, and his voice is strange and every part of him not anchored to the weight and warmth of Eddie's arm pressed through their suits feels very far away.
Eddie turns more into him, kisses him twice. "Buck," he laughs, a sound that makes Buck feel more drunk than the champagne. "Marry me. Please, will you marry me?"
He nods, frantically, and as Eddie laughs again Buck says "Next year, next- in the summer, the- the end of summer, right before school. Sunsets- that's when the best sunsets are."
Oh, his smile, oh, his smile. "It's a date," Eddie says, joy all over him, and Buck curls down into his arms. He can feel Eddie’s nose pressed into the side of his head. "I have to get you a ring," he says, still laughing, a little wet this time. As Buck cries into Eddie's nice suit jacket their family around them laugh, too.
--
In the fall, Buck begins to disappear.
He thinks he imagined it, the first time. They're on route to a traffic collision and Buck glances down at his hand and for a split second only sees the red of the door behind it. He flinches bad enough, yanking his now solid hand in for closer inspection, that Eddie taps his knee.
"You okay?"
"Yeah, uh," Buck tears his eyes away from familiar calluses and freckles. "Thought I saw a spider."
Eddie makes a face and casts a distrusting look around the cabin, and that's the end of it.
A week later Buck raises a hand to shield his eyes from the sun and the light comes right through.
But I'm getting married, he thinks, like that has ever stopped a tragedy before.

The unnecessary hate towards Tommy after this episode when we barely had any interaction between the two is bothering me in the same way that people hating Lucy just bc she kissed Buck once was bothering me. Lucy was (still is) an amazing character and she did not deserve any of the hate she got.

lmaoooo the fact that season 6 was so focused on “Buck’s growth” and in 7x01:
- he found his girlfriend didn’t like him. she just liked his death.
- he thinks he’s broken and unlovable and he’s worried he somehow also ruined his child
- his sister is getting married, his best friend is in a happy relationship and he has no one to go go-karting with.
- he asked said best friend out and his best friend said no. He’s soooo not gonna take rejection personally.
they really did a great a job. He’s such a different person from 6x01 where he also thought he was broken and unlovable and he also was newly single because he found out his girlfriend was using him and he was also just rejected (as captain) and took it personally. whoopsie.

honestly, i think the reason this fandom has been so unable to accept the bad choices buck has been making for the past two seasons is because...before this, it was incredibly easy to blame everything buck was doing on his circumstances or the people around him. the lawsuit? well, that was bobby’s fault and the firefam weren’t supportive enough. the trauma of the tsunami and the ladder truck was part of the reason too! buck being unprofessional on the job? oh, that was his abandonment and intimacy issues! and abby and ali didn’t help either, those evil witches who left him! you get the point.
but, like...it’s becoming very clear that at the heart of all the bad decisions buck is making lies his own problems. his own tendency to self-sabotage. his own tendency to be unable to see beyond the life he could have, to the one he does. it’s a fundamental flaw of his character, not just something that makes him a sad uwu boy. and the reason he’s going in all these circles is because he’s never properly dealt with the trauma that caused them, never truly tackled them at the root. his conversation with his parents, breaking up with taylor, etc...all of that just put a mere band aid on the problem. it’s never solved anything. and while he’s shown admirable growth in some areas, he’s still gonna regress in others as long as he continues to sweep everything that’s happened to him under a rug. and that’s why people hate it and call it out of character, because it’s pretty hard to paint someone as the golden boy when it’s becoming increasingly obvious that he’s not just someone that things happen to, he’s been actively playing a part in his own destruction, so to speak.
