I see you reblogged the post where we were discussing the lestappen age debate and... how did we not notice Max in the back of 5yo Charles' second ever race?

Turns out we were right in believing Max's recollection more than Charles. He remembered that helmet because he was right there in the background. This is actually insane information for us to get. This is visual evidence that they've known each other since they were 5 (FIVE!!!!!!) 😭

I think we were too bamboozled by everything else (and Charles' lies) to fully notice it was Max in the back, haha! But we finally got answers (Charles is, in fact, a liar and / or has a bad memory).

about Sainz to RB. i don't think that max doesn't like carlos but in a technical aspect that would be a disaster since they have opposite driving styles. also the fact that carlos on multiple occasions has expressed his desire to be a wdc which isn't realistically possible in RB as they are a team completely built around one driver and there is a clear distinction between 1st and 2nd driver. and I'm damn sure max is not going to let his teammate win just from the goodness of his heart and no way in hell is carlos a driver of max's calibre. even with the RB rocketship, one has to have the skills to manoeuvre it and get the wins otherwise checo would be up there battling max for the win every week. to me personally his options seem even slimmer after Nico to Sauber news. Sauber/Audi now has a solid driver already who has shown he can fetch points when needed, has great experience, worked with people from Audi before, is German and also has proved himself to be a team player. there's also valterri waiting in the wings who's a solid enough driver and (in my opinion!) has good marketability in the sense that he can do those fun, wacky commercials (Uber eats) and doesn't look out of place. there's also zhou, who's got great market value too and can help tap into the chinese market which is very lucrative. there's also rookies from the feeder series as well who have the potential to do well in F1 if given the chance. i don't even think it's a talent issue, i just think that carlos is leveraging this Audi offer to try to get a better offer at a top team, which frankly every driver would do! i mean if the rumours are true then even charles tried to do that with ferrari using RB. in the end it just seems like either of the one parties are dragging on the contract talks and it doesn't seem to be Audi

I think the fundamental issue is that Carlos is massively overestimating his value here. Charles was able to pull that off because both Ferrari and rb would have signed him in a heartbeat (rb with perhaps a little more hesitation, but still). Carlos, however, is really not the hot commodity that he thinks he is. Sky Sports love talking about how valuable of a driver he is and that someone like him has to have a contract in f1... well, if he were this valuable, he wouldn't be constantly involved in contract negotiations that are dragging out for months and oftentimes seemingly fail.

It doesn't actually seem like teams are fighting to get him, or are willing to commit to him long-term. He clearly seems to think that he should be joining a top team, since Audi is probably beneath him. In a way, I'm hoping that Audi really did give him an ultimatum to sign before date X, because as a team, I wouldn't want to be treated like a back-up plan if everything else fails. Again, we wouldn't be even having this conversation if Carlos really were that valuable and desirable as both a driver and a teammate.

As we said before, his short-term plan of burning all the bridges and acting out will absolutely cost him long-term, since teams are going to think twice whether they want to bring this kind of toxicity into their team; even as he's one of the stronger drivers on the grid.

Am i late to the party? omg this changes soooooo many things. i thought they knew each other from back when they were 12 or 13. but it was 5. omg they've known eachother forever. they've been together forever.

also the "inchident" race where charles won? that was the race that made that man leave Max at the gas station. no wonder max was mad for years 😭
