ok so in the tags of my last post there were people apparently interested in my thoughts on a king soren au
i’ve mentioned some stuff about it earlier but here are a few more notes i had
so my idea was that ashnard initiates the war the same way as in fe9, but in this case elincia’s knights do actually manage to deliver her to gallia under caineghis’ asylum. the greil mercenaries are never formed because gawain came back to daein after some time in gallia over concern for the young prince soren, so elena is still alive and ike and mist are raised in daein, where they become close friends of soren’s and the former would eventually become his right hand man.
anyway as for elincia’s knights i’m personally thinking that oscar and titania would continue to be royal knights of crimea and would be among the ones escorting her to gallia, with boyd and rolf tagging along as well to stay with their brother. considering titania could effectively solo the entirety of daein’s troops in fe9’s early game getting elincia to gallia would probably be a lot more successful than it was in the canon timeline.
under ashnard soren serves as his reluctant tactician, though he’s privately against the war itself especially since he has ike and mist nearby who definitely detest the violence. he stands alongside one of the riders, gawain, to defend nevassa while ashnard and the rest of his riders (petrine, bryce, bertram) go on the offensive and fight against gallia and eventually the forces elincia rallies between gallia and begnion.
when elincia’s forces attack nevassa (so essentially chapter 21) instead of ena defending the castle it’s soren and gawain’s troops. it’s especially brutal since, well, it’s gawain and ike fighting under soren’s guidance, but midway through the battle elincia manages to sneak her way to the throne where soren is and essentially appeal to his sense of decency. ike immediately retreats from his position to protect soren, only to overhear the discussion and decide to agree with elincia, which is the tipping point for soren and he decides to defect from ashnard’s army and rally his own troops to stop ashnard’s mad campaign and end the fighting as soon as possible.
essentially, this means daein is split between king ashnard with his riders and prince soren with general gawain and captain ike. from there the plot would follow similarly to fe9’s, except begnion never occupied daein. in a similar fashion to fe9, ike is part of what allows gallia, begnion, and daein to cooperate with each other, and eventually ashnard is defeated in melior and elincia ascends to the crimean throne.
yeah this is just part of the setup i had in mind since this only explains what happened instead of fe9. i’d imagine that soren would be as pragmatic and cutthroat as the originals, but maybe a little more empathetic and compassionate because his upbringing wasn’t nearly as shitty. tbh ike would probably be just about the same as before lol

26 - Only Teenagers in the House
The triplets, Hestia (middle of couch), Hesperia (floor next to mom Adria), and Hecate (floor on the left), excelled in school, and were allowed to finish grade school early. As a result, all seven children are in high school at the same time.
(Slightly) older siblings Grimbald (couch far right), Grendel (next to Grimbald), Gawain (couch next to Hestia) and sis Gehenna (standing on left) have good grades, but still have a few more days before they will be allowed to graduate.
For unknown reasons, Adria's grandson Gerardo (through Callista of the fairy generation) and great-granddaughter Wendy (granddaughter of Aisling, vampire generation) showed up at the house. They were cheerfully invited to join in the picture.
Ambrosia is feeling smug, knowing that she has nearly completed her goal, "helping" Bryce and Adria to have offspring of every type of supernatural. Only left are a PlantSim and an Alien.

It's nothing like our old life in the knights, but I'm doing my best. Life goes on, as they say. It's given me the opportunity to think back on the times we spent together in the brigade. Jack, there was something I always wanted to discuss with you, but could never bring myself to mention... I've long wanted to talk to you about our fathers. As I'm sure you remember, my father vanished some sixteen years ago. He left immediately after your father died. At that time, I hated my father for what he'd done, for the shame that he brought upon us. He simply disappeared from our lives, leaving my mother and me alone. But now, somehow, I think I'm finally starting to understand what my father was feeling at the time. Humans are strange creatures, aren't they, Jack? We have such a short time to live our lives... but in our brief lifetimes, we still find the time to fall in love with one another. On the other hand, perhaps it is precisely because our time in this world is so short that we are able to love other people so completely, and with such astounding conviction. My father was no different, I think. He possessed the same human heart that we all do. I believe that, in spite of everything, my father did love me, as any father loves his child. Jack, my friend. Daein's Four Riders
Thank you, @of-invisible-ties, for the topic choice! I don't think I've really looked into this thought process much for Ike, so it should be fun!
Ike's first interaction with any of the Four Riders, is with Petrine. This sets his impression for the Riders for a good bit, which is not any further improved by the incidents with the Black Knight.
Petrine was loud, arrogant and cruel. She treated her soldiers like dirt, and her enemies with absolutely no respect. She enjoyed hurting others, but turned cowardly when faced with her own end. Ike will give her two things, though; she was a skilled warrior, and her tactics were near impossible to get around. He didn't care to know her beyond the foe she was on the battlefield, however.
Tauroneo was a surprise. Ike didn't expect any other Daein supporters to join their side in the Mad King's war; the few that had joined had been more than they could have expected already. After learning of his father's past, Ike seeks out Tauroneo because he's one of the few that knew Greil when he was Gawain, a proud soldier of Daein. While the game, of course, doesn't go into it much, I'd like to think Ike and Tauroneo reach a very even and respectful relationship with each other. Tauroneo would be sort of like that distant family friend that feels like a weird, strict uncle you aren't entirely sure where you stand with, but you can have some pretty deep conversations with when it's just the two of you talking. Ike holds a great respect for Tauroneo, both when they fought together as comrades, and when they fought against one another in the following conflict.
Bryce is a weird combo, because Ike doesn't really get to speak with him, but he can see that he's a loyal person. Bryce is the only Rider from the precious king's reign to stay on in his position when Ashnard took the throne. His duty was to the throne, no matter who occupied it, than to Ashnard himself; a true knight, Ike took it that Bryce was loyal to his country and its people above all. It's something that Ike can respect, and shares to a certain degree, though he draws the line at allowing someone like Ashnard to get away with what he did -- no matter if he was simply a servant to the throne of Daein. Bryce is one of those foes that Ike wishes he could have talked into laying down arms, instead of having to kill him.
Bertram is mostly an enigma to Ike, until he learns of the man's true identity in Radiant Dawn. As a foe, he was terrifying to come into contact with. Their clash was a hard fought one, and the first where Elincia took to the field with the rest of the army -- something Ike later on regrets, but only for the sole reason of allowing her so close to her uncle when he was so corrupted by Daein's foul magic. When Renning is returned to himself, Ike is respectful towards him, but never entirely comfortable around the man. A combination of feeling like he replaced the man to some degree during the war, as Renning should have been the one commanding Crimea's armies had he not been captured, and a discomfort of knowing that his corrupted state was likely not that far off from how Ike's own father acted under the Medallion's influence, making it difficult to be anything other than respectful comrades in arms with the older man.
Ike never meets Lanvega, another of his father's old comrades, during either conflict. He does, however briefly, get to meet the former Rider's daughter, Fiona. They have very little in common, but it's a small comfort to have someone else outside of Mist that knows something of what it's like to be the child of such legendary warriors.
We all know how Ike feels about the Black Knight, and there is no one he hates more. Ike can, to some degree, separate the persona from the man donning the armor, but this doesn't mean he forgives or forgets what Zelgius did under the guise of the Black Knight. At times, it's simply easier to imagine the Knight as some dark thing possessing a physical form; something inhuman that Ike can project all of his hate and anger, fear and doubts, on. Other times, the harsh reality of his father's closest pupil being his murderer, threatening his little sister, and doing his all to condemn the world, is unable to be cloaked in childish masks. It was a man, completely human and someone he could have known utterly differently in another life, that had brought about such pain and darkness to his life. And even if Ike can understand Zelgius to some degree, Ike isn't sure he'll ever be able to fully heal from those wretched scars left behind.
Gawain himself is someone Ike dearly wishes he knew at all. Ike knew his father, knew Greil. But Gawain is like a specter with a familiar face and voice in his mind. Ike knows that his father left the Riders when he learned about the Medallion, but it remains as a burning question in his mind -- what if Gawain had not learned of the situation? Would he have remained in Daein? Retained his station as the Divine Knight of the legendary Four Riders? How would things have gone, then? So much of what Ike thought he knew about his father is cast into shadow and doubt, knowing that there was so much of his life that was kept hidden from everyone else.

1. How do you say hello after so long?
You pull yourself up onto a slab of wasted stone to survey your progress. Below you, crimson waves lap at the ruins of an empire, sinking into the shoreline; a coast lined with broken pillars and half gone buildings. Hours before, you dredged yourself up from the seawash silt, sweating and soaked.
You lay on your back for a moment and look up at the gloaming sky and weak autumn sunlight drenches you, filtering through the arms of statues and broken pillars. for a moment you close your eyes, red and black blobs of half light fill your vision.
Do you still have it?
Did you remember?
All of this would be for nothing if you’ve forgotten
You feel the weight of that small something.
No questing beast as valuable or as precious a reward.
Standing up once again, you look towards the hills and mountains in the far distance and start walking out of the melted city.

2. Followup Question (or, The Rubicon Threshold)
The sky turned a tarnished copper, with green patina clouds. Far away, time wise, in Golitica, a dragonfly flits in and out of vine choked stones around the yawning expanse. Calderon the Paladin makes his way to the far lands beyond Abbadon. He goes that stories might be told if not of him than perhaps the riches he might bring back from the place that once was.
His plant was to circumvent Abaddon and it’s filthy stragglers by heading along the opposite comet impact; M4 Merging on M5 through Kent. There he could stop at Codswollow, a small mining town, and one of the old places unaffected by the spread or by the collapse of dear Telesto. There he joined the road, such as it was to the outermost reach of human performance, a region called Goodnight and Goodluck

1. The far walls did hold for a while. We were fighting as well as we were expected to. the invader finally arrived at the western gateway, which our wizards had enchanted shut just in case. Bryce and his men carried torches up to the Gantry Tower just above where they thought it would make landfall, and they hope to launch the first salvo by dusk. They’ve painted messages onto a few of the warheads but I doubt the invader can read. Gawain came running just now. Straight down the stairs faster than I’ve ever seen him. He says the invader just stopped below them and stared almost into the I can’t write more

1. Telesto really had no need for diplomats. As any historian will tell you, thr old empire had grown so large and frankly monolithic that it’s power struggles became little more than footnotes; surface details in an otherwise polished work. Despite this, in June of 2018 TC an expeditionary effort was sent out to discover the fate of a fledgling colony, deep in the Western Desrtts. Maaari nating sabihin na ang gusali ng Braga ay nagpapahayag sa iyo na sa senior high school, masaksihan mo ang nalalapit na kinabukasan ng iyong mga pangarap. Totoo naman ang nais ipahiwatig ng gusaling ito, hindi ba? Sa mga ibinibigay kasi na strands ng DBTI-SHS (Accountancy, Business, and Management o ABM, Humanities and Social Sciences o HUMSS, Science, Technology, Engineering, at Mathematics o STEM, at Arts and Design Track), talagang inihahanda ka sa iyong buhay paglabas mo sa ating paaralan.
Dito sa DBTI-SHS, hindi buo ang araw namin nang hindi kami makipaghalubilo sa ating mga kamag-aral. Mula sa mga gawain hanggang sa mga pagtitipon, tila isang pamilya kaming mga mag-aaral dito. If there is one thing I think is interesting about Tellius is that the game doesn’t seem to miss a chance to tell us that somebody is a noble. It either throws titles around like in Begnion, or we get in passing that Lanvega is a noble (and his peerage remains untouched when he left, so leaving the riders doesn’t seem have much consequence).
Tauroneo is from a “famed warrior family” and we only know that Bryce is loyal to a fault. I’m not sure that we know enough about pre-Ashnard Daein to know that Rider=Nobility. If Greil had territory as a noble like Lanvega did, then I think it would have effected him that much more to leave everybody he had in his care, just knowing how Greil is about the Crimean villagers he helps. I’m just not that sure.
I don’t think the games ever specify if Gawain was of an already noble family or if he earned the Four Rider position entirely on his own - I’m inclined to believe the latter, based on his character and Ike’s - but either way my point was that Ike’s parents are both special in some way. Plus, Gawain would still presumably have been considered nobility or of comparative rank in Daein; to use a real world parallel he’d be similar to the French noblesses de robe, nobles by administrative position (what my own ancestors were originally angling to get in coming to Louisiana, at least before 1789 rendered the whole business of pursuing noble titles in France a questionable endeavor, anyway) and/or recent military service, the latter of which a Four Rider would definitely qualify under.
It’s also another retroactive parallel with Alm, now that I think about it. In FE15 Alm’s (grand)father figure Mycen earned his noble title by military service, and landed nobles like Desaix and Fernand have a low opinion of him as a result. In spite of this both Ike and Alm attain positions of leadership early in their respective games in large part because of their heritages, so although Greil and Mycen may not be noble in the usual sense there’s still an undercurrent of nepotism at work.

#18 - Quads!?
Between Adria's Fertility Treatment, taking a Procreation Elixir, listening to non-stop Kids music piped throughout the house, and watching hours and hours of Kidz Zone on TV, Adria may have overdone it a bit. The result is quadruplets. Plus: two ghost babies. Minus: quadruplets. How will she survive? The obvious answer, lots and lots of Potent Invogorating Elixir. Thankfully, her boyfriend, Bryce, is able to churn those out by the basketful.
Oh, I didn't mention that Bryce and Adria have made their relationship official now? Well, that is because they didn't. Ambrosia got tired of them waffling, and used her skills in Social Networking to transmogrify their relationship to the next level.
The quadruplets are: Grindel (human), Gehenna (ghost), Grimbald (ghost), and Gawain (human). Adria loves them all equally. Ambrosia only loves Gehenna and Grimbald, because they are supernatural babies. Bryce doesn't care, because he is just that way.
