I recently figured out what my chosen name is, and told my partner. We don't frequently use each other's names often, and I still go by my birth name (not dead name, I still like it but I'm Genderfluid and my birth name is very gendered so I don't use it 100% of the time)

The other day when we were getting off our phone call she said "Good night [Chosen Name]" and I felt this rush of euphoria from it. I rarely feel dysphoria and as a result I struggle with believing myself when I say I'm trans, but the euphoria that I get from my chosen name and pronouns being used together makes me much more confident in my identity.

I'm only out to like... 2 people though and they don't get along very well so I rarely hear my name and pronouns used together since I don't want to put myself by proxy. 😔

What names do I give off?

I'm genderfluid, so I tend to go for more gender-neutral names. But any is fine; I could just shift through names when I shift gender. So any names, I guess?

I love fantasy/magic, and superpowers, I love Greek mythology. So fantasy or Greek names would be cool!

did we ever learn what huo wushang's given name is? like wendi calls him a-zheng (fierce), and his courtesy name is wushang. he has so many titles and epithets but like... what was his first?

In Spirited Away, I bet a lot of trans folk would have loved giving up their name for a new name from Ubaba and completely forget their own name.

Does anyone else feel like there's a significant difference in "My name is [NAME]" and "I'm [NAME]"?

Like, I can say, "My name is [Given Name]." and it's fine, it's technically true, doesn't stir up any strong emotions.

But sometimes I say, "I'm [Given Name]." and it feels...not right. A bit like I'm lying? But the sort of lying that's like you say you did something last week, but it was actually a month ago, you just said "last week" out of reflex. It can feel almost...icky at times.

This is a shout out to my fellow trans people that still use/ don’t care if people use their birth name.

Personally my birth name still feels like me, yes I have preferred names online and such but in my real life it does me just fine :DD

Question: If one feels they might be a different gender than their assigned, is it okay to keep your birth name?

Okay I pretty much decided on my gender-neutral name! I’ll have to wait for a bit until I know that I feel comfortable with it but yeah! It’s Otti/Otter! The reason I specified my gender-neutral name is because I’ll have three, my birth/fem name, my gender neutral name, and my masc name! :)

Misgendering

A few days ago, I was at the store, and a guy was telling his toddler to wait in line for me to pay. He used "she" when talking about me to his daughter. For me, that was a "he" day, so I felt really bad about my body. It made the whole day bad. I just kept thinking about how I wasn't in the body I wanted to be in. I hated everything about myself at that moment. Using the right pronouns and sticking up for someone can go a long way, even if you don't realize it.

I mean it was a toddler, and he didn't know, so I didn't blame him. But that didn't change how I felt inside.

what’s an identity card

its a colonial documentation system that states our palestinian identity and determines our residency and what places we can / cannot go.

there are 5 ID systems enforced by israel:

1. Gaza Strip ID: if ur a palestinian who holds this ID, you can’t live anywhere in palestine except gaza (i believe this has been in effect since 2007)

2. West Bank ID: if u hold this you can’t live anywhere but 40% of the West Bank due to military checkpoints and settlements (i have this ID)

3. East Jerusalem ID: if u hold this u can have access to most areas in palestine but israel can revoke ur access whenever they want if you live outside of jerusalem

4. israeli ID but held by palestinians: can access “israeli-only” cities but still cannot reside in most towns in israel

5. jewish/israeli ID: if u hold this ur free to live anywhere throughout “israel” . u can even live on the palestinian territories (60% of the West Bank) as a settler

if a characters name is just a word related to their powers or job then they are transgender. because obviously their parents wouldnt know that information the second theyre born so how would they have those names. its because they named themselves
