Would kill to read animal POV fiction that has the animal POV’s interaction with humans be like, semi realistic to the level of caution most predators take with large prey and/or competitors (including humans).
Like instead of the usual - “the human is such a weak, pathetic creature... so slow, no claws, blunt teeth… completely helpless without its 'Fire Sticks'. how is it the master of the earth?” type crap it’s like, the bear protagonist or whatever approaches some dude who spreads their arms and yells and the bear is like “FUUUUUUUUCK THAT THING JUST GOT HUGE. IT'S LARGE AND MAKING NOISES. HOLY FUCK.”
#A lot of this realm of fiction tends to severely overestimate how physically weak humans are in the grand scheme of things..#A human body ft. no tools has a pretty average level competency at escaping predation. WITH tools it's significantly above average.#Like a lot of human physiology IS the way it is because of reliance on tool/fire use but interspecies competition/predation is really not#a literal battle won by physical strength + teeth + claws (at least until the actual process of killing)#Intimidation and shows of strength/threatening behavior can go a long way. Healthy predators (who aren't unnaturally#accommodated to humans) are generally going to be cautious and may avoid confrontations they absolutely COULD win because#the risk of injury is judged as too high#And most animals can't weigh risks in the most objective manner and won't understand that you aren't any 'bigger' just because you#wave your arms and yell. That is why puffing up/spreading out as a threat display is so ubiquitous in nature.#Massive tangent but this is why I fucking loved Prehistoric Planet so much like the commitment to having its dinosaurs behave like#actual animals is fantastic and tragically rare#Like having a scene where a T Rex gets bullied away from a carcass by two much smaller azhdarchids.. one of the largest theropods of its time, cryolphosaurus was found in antarctica of all places! these handsomely crested fellows were found in an area that would've been well above sea level- 4,000 meters- where nights were likely below freezing. its existence supports the idea that jurassic antarctica likely had forests with diverse wildlife, living alongside basal sauropodomorphs and various synapsids in its lifetime.

Many years ago I got some cool ass edgy Gothic cloth for a project but it was the last yard or so available at the time, and we waited and waited and waited for it to restock but it didn't and then I forgot about it
Well today I tracked down the manufacturer to see if maybe they had restocked it since it's been *checks notes* 6 years, and it turns out that this stupid place cycles out their designs annually and refuses to renew old designs and so I literally have the last bolt of this fabric in existence and I'm very sad because I want curtains out of it but I can only make 1.

A while ago I submitted a bug report in LotRO and I got a generic kind of ‘We’re aware of this issue and working on it’ reply, but then at the end of the message it said I could keep up with things like that on the LotRO forums and really? Really? I am playing a game that I love, staying in my lane, minding my business, and instead of submitting bug reports they want me to go to the LotRO forums? Last time I went to the LotRO forums I encountered a pack of individuals who want female dwarves and apparently female Stout-axes don’t count because they’re the same as male dwarves and to these people it seemed obvious that the gender option on Stout-axe dwarves was meant as a joke. They refused to elaborate on what traits they would like these new “real” female dwarves to have and accused everyone who was happy with the Stout-axe option or just mentally assigning whatever gender they liked to their regular dwarf of being “conservative dinosaurs.” I wouldn’t willingly spend time on the LotRO forums if they paid me. Fuck that.
