finally, finally finished the ~definitive~ designs for my main Motley girls :’)
Extensive design notes under the cut (mostly for documentation purposes, but also because i like talking about my ocs lol)
In my last post, I introduced the idea of giving each character multiple colors, rather than being one uniform color throughout the design. The idea is that the characters can earn up to 3 new colors as they age+experience new things.
For each color they earn, they’ll wear a new ‘evolved’ version of their previous outfit.
For comparisons sake, here’s the initial pass I took at trying to give my characters more colors:
Tumblr media
(euhg. theyre really really ugly. im honestly embarrassed i ever posted these at all lol)
Fact: it’s actually incredibly difficult to design monochrome outfits for characters without the designs looking extremely unfinished (to me, anyways lol). In an attempt to break up the monotony of the monochrome outfit designs, I found myself over relying on the outline colors to fill in their outfit pieces (cherrys pants, limes turtleneck, etc). This hypothetically works, but it ended up causing a lot of confusion as to how many colors the characters had actually earned, especially when the outline color was vastly different from the intended color. Basically, the tl;dr is that over relying on the outline colors felt like cheating, looked bad, and caused a lot of issues.
All of this explanation is to set up the 2 design rules I gave myself for the New Definitive Designs:
1. Outline colors MUST NOT be over relied on, and should be used as sparingly as possible
2. Nothing is sacred. If it looks bad, throw it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also decided to shift around their body types slightly, since I realized that practically every character had the same build with a different height (with the exception of Banana). Marshmallow is a bit curvier, Watermelon is slightly more muscular, etc. And, while you cant really tell because of their baggy outfits, Lime is much boxier and Blueberry is lankier and has wider shoulders than the others.
Finally, here’s some specific design notes for each character, how they changed, and why:
Cherry Pit - Cherry may not have had the most drastic changes, but hers were definitely the most important. She’s had the same hairstyle ever since the first time I drew her (back in ....... middle school lol), and as attached as I was to it, it caused a LOT of problems. It gave her an ugly silhouette, the sharp edges kind of ruined her circle motif, etc. So it had to change. I decided to give her a fluffier hair style to incorporate more round edges into her design, and I truly cannot tell you how many hairstyles I cycled through before I landed on that one. It was major development hell. But I think the new style is much much cuter! Due to story reasons, I also decided to give her 2 outfit colors instead of just one, and she seriously looks so much better because of it. Big fan of Cherrys new design lol
Blueberry Cobbler - Ohhhh where to start with this one. Blueberrys design has always been a headache to me. I found it difficult to draw consistently, and even when I got it to look how I wanted, it still didn’t look very good. So, my goal for her redesign was to overhaul her design while keeping the general idea behind it; most importantly, she needed to be Fun To Draw. So, I changed the silhouette of her sweatshirt by giving her a more exaggerated hood, replaced her bulky zipper with the hanging ties (idk what theyre called lol), and Changed Her Ugly Ass Tights into baggier pants. I also crimped her hair to make it more angular. In the context of this universe, cold colors have naturally colder body temperatures, so they have to wear insulated clothing to stay chilly; the overall baggier clothes really just fixed all of my issues with her design honestly. Better for her personality type, prettier silhouette, in-universe reasoning, etc. Scrumptious.
Lime Pie - I decided to swap out her cargo pants for a long skirt, and let her hair down. This was mostly because, with the monochrome outfit she needed to wear, the turtleneck+cargo pants combo just wouldnt work without looking Pretty Bad. It also helps her outfit stand out a bit more, as she’s now the only character in the main cast that is wearing a skirt. She’s meant to be an inversion of the “nerdy girl lets her hair down and puts on a dress and Now She Is Popular” trope, so the idea is that when she earns her 2nd color, she will start wearing her hair up again, and the cargo pants can come back. Maybe.
Marshmallow Fluff - I honestly hit the nail on the head with this one in the initial batch of concepts I did, so I didnt change much lol. The biggest change is that I made her hair light again. This was because shes obviously meant to have a cloud motif, but her sister (who I rarely post about lol) has a thundercloud motif-- basically, I’m just saying that the darker hair is gonna go to her sister instead.
Banana Pudding - Again, she looks almost exactly the same. I just changed the red outline of her original dress to be less contrasting, since I got a lot of people asking if she’d earned two colors or not. Hopefully, its more clear now that she’s only earned one.
Watermelon Sorbet - As much as I liked her original design, many many people told me she looked like a ‘cool yoga instructor’ character. Which, while not terrible, wasn't exactly what I was going for; she’s meant to be more of an ‘edm dancer’ kind of character. So, I decided to change out her pants for bigger legwarmers that I’m hoping make her look a bit more hyper active.
Thats all my notes lol. I have no idea if anyone is gonna read this far, but if you do, thanks :’) I fully realize that making so many notes about this looks silly, considering theyre OCs and not like ..... widely known characters. So Im sure a lot of what Ive said just sounds like gibberish. But its fun to ME!!!!!!!!
I’ve got more character designs to post over the next week or so; namely, the 3 Antagonists (Grape Soda, Orange Custard, and Angel Cake) + the parents (which includes 2 characters Ive never shown before, but Im very excited to share lol). Those posts wont be accompanied with longwinded notes like this one is; Im just the most excited about these designs and wanted to talk about them.

My thoughts on my Day 5's drawings
Day 5 & 6 original post: 🌸
Man, Day 5 and 6 hit me in the feels a little bit too hard, that quote killed me
And meanwhile the Day 5 speedpaint is exporting, i'm going to write some of my thoughts on the individual illustrations that i did for this day.
First of all i wanted to draw every UU character that appeared in this arc at least once.
Have you seen Chikara's school?! it's so fucking big! There's no way Feng was the only P.E. teacher there, i have been in very small schools and they had at least 2. So i wanted to draw some of my ocs, that even though they aren't really average in terms of physical power, just seeing the absolute insanity that is Feng. I tried to make the illusion of a movement so fast, that Chikara's camera couldn't catch it without some blurring, like in Dr. Stone when Kohaku's movement always comes out blurry bcs she's that fast. (from left to right, the short version of the ocs' names are: Mari, Petra, Addler Xia and Lud)
Tumblr media
2. i just wanted an excuse to draw Fuuko and Gina with my two most wholesome, nature-loving ocs (An and Marcel), Gina was meant to appear in this one and a ninth drawing, but Gina's presence just wasn't there, i looked at my sketch and thought "this is not Gina, she's not here"
Tumblr media
3. UU science couple with my ocs' science team (left to right: Are {i hate his name, i need to change it}, Paula, Saulo and Todd), i feel that i didn't do justice to Nico and Ichico looking very ghostly with that skin color, i had to wing it based on the colored pages, also i felt that i was disrespecting both of them with that robot, but i still finished it, i'm in too deep to back down.
Tumblr media
4. it's impossible that Sean didn't goof around some clubs, he's an actor, he had visited the music and drama club at least once, so i just put my most music related ocs in the place of the teachers in charge of them, Christi would have really loved to goof around.
Tumblr media
5. I didn't know what to do with Billy, but i imagined that at least some teachers and students would have a crush for him, so i just put Mari for that role, Tella definetly used Untell on her so she can't get near Billy.
Tumblr media
6. Grandpa Isshin! i originally wanted to draw both Isshins in the context of a school daycare, Grandpa Isshin and some teachers that have kids, picking their respective kids. But i wanted the spotlight on these two, so i scraped the idea. There was a point were i was overthinking Grandpa Isshin's eyebrows and how it reminded me of my late Grandpa's eyebrows, almost cried at that one.
Tumblr media
7. Same as Feng but with Mui, also made Xia come back after she fainted with Feng, i felt incredibly cursed by Shen's presence in my canvas, after seeing the things i saw in my TL on twitter, i couldn't see Shen without thinking about it, so in the speedpaint there's a section where i put my refences and the characters specific colors from the anime, except for Shen, i stopped the recording bcs i felt cursed to have the anime reference in my canvas)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8. Drama club! also Chikara is here, maybe acting will help him with his Unmove, this one has the cursed unshaded eyes in the speedpaint, everytime i looked at their eyes i remembered @tadpolebobatea, once the speedpaint is ready i will curse all of you with the unshaded eyes.

WELCOME WELCOME!!!
About time I update the intro post Hey Hey! I'm Chipistrate (chip-uh-strate, like chip and illustrate) but you can just call me Chip, I use they/xe, and'm sapphic aroace!
Art tag is #Chipillustrates and talk tag is #Chip Chatter
Also currently EXTREMELY fixated on fnaf, so beware the insanity ahead<3 (so sorry to my ahit moots and followers, ily and ahit still I prommy)
Few things of note:
1. I'm 100% a-okay with fanart! 2. I prefer if you don't DM me unless it's urgent or we're mutuals/friends, if you wanna ask a question then my inbox is open! 3. Also; MY INBOX IS OPEN! I like rambling and answering questions and talking about theories and AUs and characters and really just anything fnaf/other interests related, etc. You can plop almost anything into my inbox and I'll most likely answer it! (it can take a bit sometimes, so sorry! I promise I read every ask I receive!) only thing I ask is to not put anything NSFW in there 4. I do take art requests, but there's never a 100% guarantee I'll draw what you ask! (if your a mutual then you can request AU characters and OCs!) 5.I love all of my mutuals and you're all very cool and I love you all very much even if we don't talk a lot!! I always say 'hey' when I see you in my notifs even though you can't hear me 6. Not a spoiler free zone, but I try and tag anything spoilery! 7. I talk in tags a lot 8. the fnaf kids are my favorite fnaf characters so sometimes I might be a little silly about them 9. I'm just a silly goober all around so if joyous whimsy isn't for you then you might not like it here
AUs and art examples under cut to save space
List of my AUs + small descriptions + their tags
-Year 1/#Fnaf Year 1 AU: first year of Glitchtrap/Mimic1 infecting the Pizzaplex, centered around the characters reactions to everything and character dynamics, like Cassie and Dr. Rabbits dynamic and Vanessa getting used to her new job as Head of Security. Same year as Tonys death, and the most interesting new cast member to note would be Lucia; now 21 and part of the Mega Pizzaplex' security team, investigating the strange disappearances that she believes to be connected to the Mimic. -Welcome to Balloon Circus/#Fnaf Welcome to Balloon Circus: 3 star fam return to the Pizzaplex lot 3 years after Ruin to fix M.X.E.S after they suddenly shut down, and upon arrival, instead find a giant circus. There's a big post with a poster and TONS of information here if you're interested!! -Quests Continuation/#Fnaf Quest Continuation: takes place after the Disassembled Ending. Gregory quite literally stumbles into another Pizzaplex unlike the one from SB, now much smaller with uncorrupted animatronics, Bonnie as one of the band members, Foxy still around, and no security guards out to get him. He hesitantly accepts the band members help in finding his old friend, Cassie, so he can be reunited with her and not keep living on the streets, because after finding him for the first time, the band members are VERY adamant that he cannot go back to that living situation, considering the terrible condition he was in. -Endpoint Security/#Fnaf Endpoint Security: Security Breach swap AU featuring newly uninfected Vanessa as the protagonist and a very much so still infected Dr. Rabbit as the antagonist. Vanessa, barely even remembering having this job and now locked in the Pizzaplex until 6am without any of her keycards or tools, is now accompanied by Dr. Rabbit talking to her through her new fazwatch as she goes on a scavenger hunt he set up just for her to find her keycards and tools to help her survive the night until the doors open, though Dr. Rabbit makes it clear that 6am won't be the end of this shift for her. -Back at it again/#Fnaf Back at it Again: Post PQ ending. Vanessa keeps her job as head of security and Gregory takes up an internship as a security guard, position secured by Vanessa’s recommendation, and the two use their job ranks to continue looking into the mysteries of the Pizzaplex and put Mimic to an end once and for all, aaas well as steal whatever they need to take care of Freddy back home when no one's looking. -Painted Tears Trilogy/#Fnaf Painted Tears Trilogy: Silver Eyes Trilogy inspired AU centering around the MCI looking into the disappearances of Charlotte Emily and Evan Afton, two of their now missing childhood best friends.
(Yeah I dunno how to write short AU descriptions, if you want more info about any of these then my inbox is open!)
Here's some examples of my more recent pieces/what you can expect from me when it comes to art:

https://at.tumblr.com/sylvaur/legendary-fusions/ytuo60c5tt3h
oh! thank you for answering my ask, these were the two posts that got be thinking about it, i was referring to how the soft shading around some of the areas around the characters have a soft glow to them or a warmth that makes it look rendered
I'll use my Vaporeon/Ninetales fusion as an example to demonstrate how I do my glow effects, cause there's SO much going on in the legendary fusion files that it'd be completely incomprehensible to anyone but me probably :'D
Tumblr media
This post turned out LONG so I'm putting it under the cut, but TL;DR - I like to layer a bunch of different glow effect layer on top of each other, incl. behind the subject of the drawing as well as on top of it
So this is my starting point, i. e. the plain drawing of the fusion on a plain dark background. I say 'plain' and not 'uniform' or 'solid' or whatever lmao cause you can see that it already has a faint blue glow in the center that fades into the black edges
Tumblr media
2. I added a stronger color 'haze' in the background in neutral blues and pinks that match the colors of the fusion, and I (mostly) placed it around the focal points of the design, like the head and the ends of the tails. Looking back on it now, I realize I should've probably been a little more conservative with the distribution of this really intense airbrushing cause that would've given me a way more interesting kind of visual depth lol
Tumblr media
3. At this point I add a whole bunch of filters on top of the whole thing, mostly to up the contrast and saturation, adjust the color palette and to add the fun scales/frills textures
Tumblr media
^ you can see the three glow layers i've hidden here so we can look at them more closely now
4.1. If the character features a prominent pale color (which they almost always do), I like to make a layer where I softly airbrush that same pale color on top of where you can see it, so in this case the tails, the ends of the tails, the head, etc. I'll always set this layer on the Lighter Color mode and I'll call it 'color haze' or 'white haze' or 'white glow' or something to that effect
Tumblr media Tumblr media
additional example from my Groudon/Kyogre fusion -
Tumblr media
4.2. I'll also add a 'Color glow' layer for whatever the character's colorful glowy features are, and for that I'll use a layer mode that creates a lot of vibrant saturation like Hard Light or Linear Dodge, whatever works
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4.3. And for this fusion in particular I wanted to emphasize the ends of its tails even further by creating a rainbowy glare to correlate to its aquatic theme
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. And that's about it! Here's all the glow effects stacked together
Tumblr media
Hope this was helpful!✌️

ive only seen few artists draw good dynamics of guda and chaldea staff (before papermoon was released so there is simply 'mob' or original character drawn)...
but although i really find it hard to believe that guda isnt close to them, i always believed that must have chatted and made small talk with each other at some point. after all, as people in the same situation, you gravitate to each other and get to know each other. about the feelings for the current problem. about what to do in the current situation. you bond with each other. establish a link and such.
then again, there is hundreds of servants in chaldea, outstaffing the chaldea staff of merely less than thirty and combined with the oprichniki raid, its down to less than ten (iirc bc i cant remember the exact number)
so guda... would definitely have less time to talk with them outside of mission briefings, report submission and medical examinations. i wished a little the dynamic would be more like...some chaldea staff hated guda too. maybe its not too late to add that? though there is camaraderie like meuniere or neutrality/amiablility with cerejeira, i hope they add another chaldea staff that hates guda. either they died back in part 2 or not, i'd like to see it.
a chaldea staff who thinks guda is incompetent without someone to whisper to their ear to help direct them to where they will go or do, a chaldea staff who thinks that guda being special is getting into their head, just because heroes of the Throne liked them for merely saying a few words in a conversation, thus looks down at them during 1.5...a chaldea staff angry at guda for feeling "nothing" when they came back when dr. roman had used his trump card. merely smiling as they told everyone that they were alright when they back from the rayshift. instead of crying like everyone else in the command room. why isnt that bastard Master not crying? how inhuman. how disgusting. is it too late to add it? that kind of chaldea staff is id like to see. a member of the same organization who hated guda from the start to now.
one of the doujin i also read of chaldea staff and guda interaction, one of my favorite, is something i'd like to be implemented in the story... im still hoping but i hope at least there are more guda moments if there are on more chaldea staff involvement. in cany case, even without romaguda elements, its a precious story that i love.

Personal Update
This might get long, or not, but there is a TL;DR:
I basically just wanted to tell you guys one thing: I'm going to take art more seriously now and will begin a 2-year art education in January and this means I won't be that active anymore - this is also a last call for commissions.
Art always has been something that was just a casual hobby to me, always just doodling around a bit. There was never that much time for art in my life, either because I was a student with a part-time job to support myself, or because I'm working full-time after graduation. It was something I did to relax, but never too seriously. Just drawing the characters I currently liked, and I wanted to share it in case someone liked the same characters as me.
Sure, I bought some books, I watched video tutorials, I bought some "classes" on Gumroad, but it was just me wanting to get a bit better with no real commitment - it's just a hobby, right? I exclusively used the money from commissions to support this hobby, and for that I am grateful for every single one of you who decided to hire me to bring your beloved characters to life. This means a lot to me.
But things have changed. The more time passes, the more I realize that art and making art becomes a bigger and more meaningful part in my life. It's what I want to do.
And a few months ago I started a new job that allows me to actually invest in art. This is why I have decided to enroll in an art school and take art more seriously as I'm finally in a position that allows me to do so. I always perceived my progress as slow and unfulfilling, often feeling frustrated with my own pace and the disconnect between the images in my head, the stuff I want to do, and the things that come out of my hand. I want to change that.
This means I won't be as active (not that I'm very active) on here anymore, as I will be taking art classes right after work. I might post some things I have done for the classes or some personal projects I manage to squeeze out in between. But I hope to come back with a much higher quality.
This also means this will be your last chance to get a commission from me for a very long time. If you are interested, you have until the end of December to contact me.
Thank you everyone for your continuous support, I wouldn't be here without you.
Cheers, Vauclair

MT-007 → MT-008: The Adventures of Rock
TW: A few appearances of racial stereotypes, depiction of a genocide (of slightly humanoid aliens)
This volume has 2 short stories at the end (kind of. they're summer/new years specials) so the tws for THOSE are here):
Skyscraper Kid: attempted suicide (of a mouse, the mouse was okay :)), a few appearances of racial stereotypes, animal death (not graphic, played off as a joke if anything)
Volcano Boy: fire (solely because of well. volcano) and simulated child abuse (it is part of a movie but is upsetting, it's not super graphic)
this is also very long. i had many thoughts on the politics handled in The Adventures of Rock so. thank you if you read to the end :)
Summary of Plot: A planet named Dimon (discovered by a scientist of the same name) causes a very damaging storm on Earth as it begins to orbit Earth itself. In the middle of the storm, Dr. Dimon signs the rights over to the planet to his son, Rock (the same Rock Holmes who is pretty famous within Tezuka’s works). Many people want these rights, and once Rock has come around to the fact he does want them, he becomes more curious about Dimon as a planet. With some pressure from the media, he agrees to go on the mission to explore Dimon. When he and the crew land, they discover no resources that would sustain human life, but a mysterious disease begins to spread along the crew. They end up leaving Rock and Daisuke (his friend) behind on the planet, in their rush to get back to Earth to be cured of this mysterious sickness. With the two boys abandoned on Dimon, they fight to survive, rationing their limited resources to live as long as possible. They run into two species on the planet and get entangled into a war soon after finding peace.
Characters: I will NEVER complain about Rock Holmes centric manga. Never. So seeing him before Vampires (where he was the villain) and where he’s just a kid and decently nice (minus him really being shitty about his friend’s vanished parents in Chapter 1) is really funny and interesting. He’s just a very good character overall and always a pleasure to read about. With his role in Tezuka’s other works typically being more evil/he is VERY clearly the one in charge, seeing scenes like the one in Chapter 1, where he’s being threatened to hand over the rights to Dimon as a planet, really gives him a lot of depth, as you do truly get to see him grow and change throughout the course of The Adventures of Rock. I really also enjoy his friend Daisuke as a character, I feel there’s a bit more depth to this one than there was in a work like Kimba/Jungle Emperor.
Art: With The Adventures of Rock releasing from 1952-1954, it’s one of Tezuka’s earlier works, and I do find a lot of charm in his earlier art as well. The environmental scenes are gorgeous, and the cute way he draws characters works really well to juxtapose the serious topics being discussed. I do really enjoy how, when they are on Dimon, the creatures and atmosphere is drawn in such a haunting way. He does slightly veer into a specific type of horror with his art (of people being formed in the cave walls and coming out to grab Rock being a primary example in this) and I do really always enjoy his clear skill at being a visual storyteller. Even though I did translate all of it, most panels were pretty clear what was happening, especially when it got into the war (see under the Misc section for more discussion on this).
Ending: The ending was really good, as Tezuka did change it from the original release (when it was being serialized). I think it did end with a sad note but it works very well for the media and the general somewhat dark tone of the piece.
Misc: This was the first untranslated series (160/400 volumes) that I will be reading via machine translation, so forgive me for any small details (such as names) being incorrect.
Onto actual details with it, starting with the gripes: on the top of page 15 of volume 1 are some very stereotypical depictions of African and Chinese people being impacted by the storm. More of these stereotypical depictions are on the big spread covering pg 16-17, as well as on pg 18 (these are all in the background but still present). It is also on page 21-22 as a background character and as a character (quite literally) named Dr. Uganda (and yes, he is from Africa). This character speaks in pure gibberish and has another character who is translating for him. It’s pretty fucking bad. The art for this character is also pretty vile, with it being to the point where I can confidently say this one example is (visually) worse than Kimba’s portrayal of Africans. Another stereotypical background character appears on pg 29. These do go away for the rest of Volume 1 once they go into space on Chapter 4 (pg 36) but it is something I want to mention (although with it not being translated, I would imagine that less people may seek this one out, compared to the other ones on this list). In Volume 2, these background stereotypical figures appear again on pg 13. This is not something that is remotely as bad as it was in Kimba but is something I would like to note for anyone who would like to seek this one out.
The space war subplot is not one that was super interesting to me at the beginning, but I do think the idea of going to a new planet and discovering life there is one that is executed very well. Overall, it ABSOLUTELY gets better once they head into space but it’s just not something that I (as a guy that isn’t super big on science fiction most of the time) would count along some of his best work out of everything I’ve read. I will say that the way this handles Rock dealing with his trauma from his dad dying (specifically around the events of another father dying on pg 102-105 roughly) was really well done for this being an earlier work of his. Him stepping up to father the child of the character who died and being so excited about that really comes full circle with how upset he was about his father dying. Rock as a character (in the works that he has appeared that I’ve read (in Vampires and Black Jack)) isn’t a character that is often awarded sympathy and kindness, so it was very neat to read one of his original stories (before he went a bit more evil). The themes of caring for people, even if they are unlike you or not family by blood was one that I think Tezuka was always very good at, and was a very big part of what worked for me in The Adventures of Rock.
The discovery of oil on Dimon becoming a way of showing how people on Earth are so greedy for it that they want to drain Dimon of it is interesting commentary on that topic as well. A lot of the works in Black Jack (and bits of Astro Boy) are also reliant on Tezuka’s very strong pro-environmentalism messaging and I think this one is really an earlier version of those themes. It worked very well here, solely because of how Rock was very open to becoming integrated in the Epumu (one of the alien races) and how he did pretty much start living with them. His dual citizenship (in a way, as he did live with the Epumu for a year and was considered one of them, but also was a human) was part of the central conflict towards the end of Volume 2, with which side he would choose. The ending specifically worked excellently with Rock dying FOR the Epumu (as he did quite literally stop them from being hurt by using his body as a shield) and saying that neither race should have gone to the other’s planet. Both races caused destruction when on the other’s planet, and that lends a lot to the way that Tezuka handles a lot of war and environmentalism messaging in The Adventures of Rock.
Another thing I find very charming is with the Epumu (who are bird people) that most of their dialogue is just various chirps and cheeps, and with the Ruborooms (who are basically clay people) are speaking with katakana to show how they are struggling to speak the language.
I feel that some of the politics are handled a bit more clumsily just due to how early of a work it is, so it doesn’t really work as well as some of his later stuff that handles similar stuff does (specifically thinking of Astro Boy, which isn’t a LOT later but is a bit). This story feels very much like older sci-fi (I’ve been watching a lot of the classic Dr. Who recently, and this has very similar vibes), and minus the issues, if that is your cup of tea, this one may be worth reading. It’s a lot darker with the subject matter than some of his very early works.
The politics in this are mostly focused around the war between the Epumu and humans on Dimon and how the Epumu get exploited by a second group of humans. The running theme in The Adventures of Rock that stuck out to me the most was how it parallels human exploitation of resources in the real world. First, before Dimon as a planet was explored, the immediate leap to action from the humans was to explore it and see if it could be used for resources for Earth. After Rock’s group makes it to Dimon and then leaves, another group (lead by an oil baron) tries to make it. Dimon as a planet, instead of having seas, has oil all over it, so it was a natural jump to try and take that as oil for Earth. Their rocket ends up exploding as it takes off. The third group that makes it to Dimon is initially curious of the Epumu’s existence but does end up shooting at them (this group was specifically retreating from the war going on before this third group landed) and capturing some of them. One of the humans gets a blood clot and a donation of blood is forced from one of the Epumu, who later dies from this. The blood transfusion is successful (from the humans side), and Tezuka shows that the humans realize that they can also exploit this resource and plan on doing so. In a truly horrifying moment, in the middle of one of the humans giving a speech about how good of a resource the Epumu are, he explains how good of workers they are and how good of livestock they are. He then goes on to say that the meat they are eating now is the meat of the Epumu that died from the transfusion and Daisuke’s father (who is part of the third group) is visibly nauseated. The speech ends with the announcement of the plans to export the Epumu to Earth because of these reasons. Meanwhile, Rock, who is still on Dimon has helped the Epumu grow as a society and is living peacefully among them. It’s a stark contrast.
This is arguably one of his very early anti-war manga, and I do think he handles it with grace. I also feel a lot of the anti-colonialism messages in this land a lot better than in Kimba (if there were even really any there, it was all really badly handled in that), with the humans very clearly parading around an Epumu that has been to Earth as proof that the humans are okay and the Epumu being on Earth would be a benefit to them. They even have obtained a company to try and force the Epumu on Earth that they use as part of this parading to try and coax the Epumu onto Earth. After Rock is convinced to return to Earth (partially by his son and because he’s very excited to be able to return), the humans attack the Epumu that are trying to flee, saying that none of them must be allowed to escape and using violence when they deem it is needed. After capturing them, the humans determine which of them would be good for meat or any other purpose they might want the Epumu for, before cramming them all into a capsule. On the rocket, Rock catches one of the scientists abusing the Epumu that was paraded around the rest of them and asks him what is going on, only for him to reveal that trying to get them onto Earth peacefully was a lie and that they were being hunted down on Dimon. Tezuka does not shy away in the slightest from showing the camps that they are being kept in and how they are very blatantly abused and mistreated by the humans, who see them as much less human than themselves. When the Epumu retaliate with a disease that attacks some of the humans, they are then immediately treated as the enemy of the humans that must be wiped out. Rock begins to work on stopping the war and ultimately dies as a consequence of this. His death is ultimately the cause of the war stopping, and I do really think that both of these topics were handled very well.
As for the two short stories at the end of Volume 2 (Skyscraper Kid and Volcano Boy), I’ll review them both in this section.
Skyscraper Kid:
Summary (since I can’t really find one for this short story in English): Skyscraper Kid follows a boy named Kozu who previously was unhoused and living on the lot where the Empire State Building was built. When it was built, he was kicked out of where he was living, and as compensation, moved up to a small apartment at the very top of the building. He makes his living cleaning and has a best friend (who is a mouse) named Hatsuda Mouse. His mouse friend ends up jumping off of the building and Kozu has to call emergency services to report the suicide attempt so Hatsuda can be saved. They arrive in time and save the mouse, although Kozu is chastised and made fun of for calling emergency services for the mouse. The mouse and an older man (named Dr. Gamma) are both very appreciative of Kozu and his kindness. During the night, some watchmen are patrolling outside the ground floor of the tower and are startled by a cat’s shadow (which makes it appear to be much bigger than it actually is due to a lamp shining on it). They are intrigued by how the shadows work and start playing around before a burglar team knocks them both out. The team is in search of a stone and succeed in finding it, leading to the leaders in control of the Tower being upset at how poorly the night watch did to prevent this.
A rich business man offers to buy the tower, and this news is very concerning to Kozu and another hotel worker. Kozu spots the thieves planning out their next heist and asks for Hatsuda’s help to stop it. The stone they are looking for is part of the foundation of the tower, so Hatsuda digs into the stone and eventually finds it. The burglars wish to just blow up the foundation of the tower to easily access the stone, as they do not care about what happens to the tower. Hatsuda emerges from the foundation, having eaten the stone so the burglars cannot get it, and he and Kozu flee as the burglars examine the hole. They notice that there is a smaller hole in there and wonder if a human could fit through, before deducing it was a mouse (due to the mouse hair left behind).
Kozu flees to Dr. Gamma’s office and explains that they found the stone the bandits wanted. Gamma points out a certain squelching noise that he is making with his slippers and that makes Kozu realize that Gamma’s slippers have the exact same kind of mud as the burglars outside were standing in. Kozu also notices that the same cat that caused the guards issues the other night was Gamma’s cat and that he MUST be the boss of the burglars. Gamma pulls off his disguise and pleads for the stone from Kozu, holding the boy at gunpoint. He tells Kozu that it all ties into politics from XX Country (Tezuka often censors country names like this, in Kimba there was Country A and Country B) and that the wrong foundation block (that had the stone in it) was used for the tower. Gamma moved to the building and disguised himself so he could get the stone back. Suddenly, he jumps and starts giggling, as something tickles on his neck. It’s Hatsuda, who has grabbed the key to the room and urges Kozu to run away. They head for the elevator, but the burglars who are chasing them destroy the motor of the elevator so they cannot head up. They begin running up the stairs, as Kozu realizes their only option is going up to the roof.
Once they reach the roof, Kozu redirects a pipe to flood the stairwell, causing the bandits to get caught up in the water. The boy and his mouse begin scaling down the building with a rope, but unfortunately their path is right by the window that Gamma’s cat is sitting at. The cat obviously informs his owner and he shoots the rope right under where Hatsuda is climbing, severing Kozu’s connection to the rope. They are only worried about getting Hatsuda, since the mouse swallowed the stone they needed. Hatsuda moves fast and uses his tail to keep Kozu from falling. The thieves try to persuade Kozu to join their efforts and offer to save him if he gives them Hatsuda. At hearing his refusal, they put the cat on a stick and dangle it very close to Hatsuda, as a threat. The cat very nearly grabs at Hatsuda’s tail, which causes Kozu to cut it off and climb up the rope a bit further (while holding Hatsuda in one hand). With a quick hand movement, he moves Hatsuda to his back pocket, which makes the burglars think the cat ate Hatsuda, only leaving the tail behind. The cat tries to tell its master that it was a lie but the burglars all surround it (one even suggesting to give it a laxative).
Kozu mourns his situation, as he is still hanging there and his hands are getting tired. He looks down at the many stories below him and lets go, explaining it is hopeless. A helicopter swoops by and saves him just in time. The burglars are all caught, and the owner of the building contributes all of this to Kozu. They were about to dissect the mouse to remove the stone when the person carrying the mouse tripped and dropped the container down the stairs, causing the mouse to (seemingly?) die, as Kozu comments on the fact that they can do a dissection now.
Thoughts (doing shorter formatting for these): My main thoughts with this was it just felt sort of confused as to where it wanted to go plot wise throughout all of it. I feel it was slightly more adjacent to his gag strips, where comedic things just happened and didn’t have a super clear plot (which, to be fair, it being a pretty short story (only 18 pages long) would make it hard to have a very cohesive plot with THIS much details). I feel the mystery elements worked well, and I did really enjoy Kozu as a character, he is very spirited and is a fun protagonist to follow along in the story. I do always enjoy a little rambunctious scamp character, and I think the team of Cozu and Hatsuda really worked for me for that reason. The ending felt very strange to me, given what happened to Hatsuda (and how similar subject matter is dealt with in the Black Jack story “Guinea Pig”) and just sort of rushed. Given how short it is, the shortcomings make sense but it’s just an odd little story. Heads up for (yet another) poorly drawn Black character on pg 142-143. I’d say this one is definitely a decent story, just a bit odd (and maybe I’m missing cultural context in some way here, as Tezuka tended to put those in his works a lot). 6/10.
Volcano Boy:
Summary (since I can’t really find one for this short story in English): The story begins with explaining the seven mysteries of Panana* Island, which include the sun rising twice, people cannot see other people but can hear their voices, if a bird dies, humans will die, anyone who sees the 3 AM eruption (of the volcano on the island) cannot ever leave the island, and a few others that are not elaborated on. The man is explaining all of these to none other than the character commonly known as Kenichi (he appears a lot, given Tezuka’s Star System, he doesn’t seem to be named in this one though, so I will keep referring to him as Kenichi in this summary). Kenichi wants to go and visit the island (on summer vacation) but the older man worries for his safety. A man offscreen calls for them to “Cut!” and try a new take. It then reveals all of this takes place on a film set and they start a new take of the same material shown in the first take. This time, Kenichi gets hit hard enough that the director yells “Cut!” again and worries over his star. Kenichi tells him that he is going home with how bad his face looks and the director calls after him to please come back. The director panics and one of the other helpers behind the set tells him that it is all the fault of the director. The new suggestion is finding a cheap replacement for Kenichi. As Kenichi is leaving the studio, he’s approached for an autograph from Daisuke and Rock. Some of the film crew oversee this interaction and realize Rock is the perfect replacement for Kenichi. They return to the director and reassure him that everything will be okay, even if the replacement isn’t a professional actor.
The star of the film approaches Rock as he and Daisuke are leaving and begins asking him about Panana Island. The film crew are filming the interaction, although it doesn’t seem Rock is aware of this. They reveal the rest of the secrets of Panana Island (The bottom of the crater has blooming flowers, there is a singing pumice stone, and a great Nyudo comes out). Rock is very enthusiastic and says he wants to go to that island, but Daisuke disproves. Rock proclaims again that he wants to go to that island and the film crew are overjoyed, as it is just how the script was written (even though Rock is clearly not aware of the script). The man warns Rock that the island is uninhabited and would be really dangerous for him. Rock brings up that he wants to go because it would be good to study it on summer vacation, which also perfectly aligns with the script. The director himself has arrived and is very happy to hear how perfect it’s going. The scene that had the older man worry for his safety and then hit him is up next, and Rock is very startled. Thankfully, Daisuke is there and throws the older man right onto his jaw. Just when everything was going right, they had to cut the take again due to Daisuke’s actions. The director rushes to explain that their company wants to do a documentary on Panana Island and shows them the script. He shares the casting trouble that they had (given how Kenichi was punched too hard to really have a useable take) and both boys are enthusiastic about helping, now that they know it is for a movie.
A boat takes the crew out to Panana Island, and Daisuke worries about the superstition about the bird. He takes the bird out of its cage and replaces it with an octopus, taking the bird with him. Another crew member comes by to inspect the cage and gets inked. The crew member gets in a fight with another, as they do not recognize him now that he has been inked. The bird thanks Daisuke for saving it and promises to give him good luck. Mysterious circumstances start the second that they land on the island, with a ton of rumbling on the ground. One of the camera operators realizes it is a volcanic eruption. They end up abandoning the camera, but the bird that has befriended Daisuke urges him to go back for it, so he does. He tries to take a photo of the volcano, but the active eruption is making it hard. Daisuke is scolded for being so dangerous.
They start waiting for the second sun to rise, but the bird that Daisuke set free comes by to give him corks to put in his ears. Everyone but Daisuke and Rock (who covered his ears) are affected by the sound. The sunrise happens, but from Daisuke’s position, he can see two suns, and Rock cannot. He is much lower (elevation wise) compared to Daisuke, so that explains the illusion. The film crew are approached by a large hairy man, who claims to have lived on the island for thirty years (as he witnessed the 3 am volcano eruption and so cannot leave). They all rush to record the volcano’s eruption on camera. They get slightly buried under the rocks and then head closer to the crater. They notice the flowers at the bottom of the crater. While they’re busy focusing on that, the giants appear and everyone is scared, Daisuke most of all. The bird urges him to calm down and film the giants, which he does. Rock reassures Daisuke that if he looks closely at the images, he will realize it’s just their shadows.
The boys go to sleep (although the bird is being shooed for being too noisy) until an eruption at 3 am wakes Rock up. The director insists he will be the one to go up and see the eruption the night before and sneaks up on his own. Rock and Daisuke follow him. They go to the crater and see some jewels coming from the bottom. Rock realizes that instead of flowers at the bottom, it was actually jewels. The director insists that even if it takes him a lifetime, he needs to get that jewel. The old man who had been on the island for 30 years approaches them and explains that the jewels are his and that they will never be able to collect the jewels. Thieves fall into the crater, which explains why people stay on the island forever. The bird died and the director, Rock, and Daisuke panic about it. The director is beat over the head by the old man and Rock tries to bring him down the mountain. The old man, in agony, pleads out for help, and no one comes to his aid as he is dying.
1 week later, Rock summarizes it up to the director (who is recovering in bed). There is science behind the singing pumice stone and every other superstition. He also tells the director that Daisuke’s cut of the film will be available today, and the director thanks them both deeply. The preview of the film starts, as it is presented as Daisuke’s desperate filming of the island. It’s revealed on the last page that Daisuke had accidentally filmed his face for the ENTIRE film. The director is so upset over this that he faints.
*translated literally, the official site has it as “Banana” but it’s pretty distinctly starting with パ(pa) and not the バ(ba) when you first see it mentioned on pg 154 of this volume. Not an important note but something I did want to point out.
Thoughts (doing shorter formatting for these): This one worked a bit better than Skyscraper Boy for me, namely because it felt like a more cohesive story than the previous story. I really enjoyed the mystery elements of it, as well as the comedic twist ending. Tezuka is very good at telling a story with many threads and letting it all unravel and tie back together as it goes and I think that’s very clear here. It was very nice to see Daisuke and Rock again after the very sad ending of Adventure of Rock. I don’t have a ton to say here other than as a person who LOVES legends and stuff like this, I did really enjoy this one. What other manga will you nearly see Rock Holmes blown up by a volcano. None (although I hold out hope ok). I also really enjoyed the film set framing at the start, it was really neat! 7.5/10.
Overall Thoughts: For one his earlier works, The Adventures of Rock finds its footing pretty strong in Volume 2 and really did let the themes that Tezuka put into his later works shine. This one had a lot of moments where I did enjoy bits and pieces of it, but overall, it just was one that I was not enjoying reading in Volume 1 but Volume 2 was much more enjoyable. I’m not letting the horrors of having to translate all of this get in the way of my opinions on it, but it was just really a mixed bag in Volume 1. Volume 1 had a lot of focus on stuff that I feel paid off a lot later in the second half of Volume 2, but it didn’t work as well while I was reading Volume 1. It was stuff that definitely did make Volume 2 better, but I feel it was sort of clumsy in Volume 1, and it did not keep my interest as well in Volume 1. Minus the couple glaring issues, this was a pretty decent story but not one that is up there with my favorites of his. It was one I did enjoy a lot more once they got into more of the politics in Volume 2 (as Tezuka does truly shine in handling political topics that he had experience with and then incorporated into his writing). The short stories were both pretty good, and overall, for my first untranslated experience, it was a pretty good one. I’d say overall, it’s a 7/10, it was very good in some parts but I wish it was just slightly more polished in other parts.

Sorry for barging in like this but I wanted you to know how happy I am to discover a fellow Adam 12 watcher ( and enjoyer) in the year 2023!!
If you don't mind sharing your thoughts, can I ask you, what made you love the show? Or alternatively, what would you tell someone to convince them to give it a chance..
Hello nonny!
You can barge in any time 😊 ESPECIALLY IF IT IS ABOUT ADAM 12 !!!! I saw this message this morning and have been thinking happily about answering it while I wait for my car to be serviced lol, so thank you for that. XD
This is going to be a ramble, so buckle up. I'll put a tldr at the bottom for anyone potentially interested but with a small attention span, scroll to that. XD
Ok so what initially made me love the show is actually how I was introduced to it by a dear friend who had already seen it and we started watching together as a way to spend time together. 💗 I knew one of the officers was named Pete and I made jokes about always falling in love with the crime-solving Peters (I also love White Collar, Fringe, [parts of] the first season of Body of Proof actually I just love that Peter and nothing else and they did him dirty but I digress, and we can even throw Spidey into the mix). So I figured I would be a goner from the start and I was Correct, nonny.
I had such a good time watching with my friend (we especially loved screaming about how Jim is a dear and Pete is amazing, and also obligatory yelled "hi Mac!" every time he appeared, and how we would go from lol-ing to sobbing in two seconds flat every episode) that when she was unable to continue watching with me (😭) I kept on to finish. While I would have preferred to watch it all with her, I'm so happy she introduced me to this absolute gem of television and storytelling.
Ok, so beyond that: things that made me love the show specifically and that I think others should appreciate and watch it for (MY BELOVED FOLLOWERS GO WATCH ADAM 12, see below for reasons)....
1! The biggest is the two main characters. I LOVE PETE AND JIM SO DANG MUCH. They are the best TV officers, and two of my favorite characters. Especially Pete. But I love Jim's growth (they both have such beautiful arcs through the seriesssssss aaaaa) too. I love how he brings joy back to Pete. I love how Pete grounds Jim. I love how they love one another??? I love how protective they are of each other. One of the best character friendship tropes ever is "they make each other better" and Pete Malloy and Jim Reed are an excellent example of it. My whole heart.
2! If someone reading this was turned off by the fact that it is a show about two police officers, fair, but LISTEN. I love me a good procedural drama (see some of the mentions above), I love me a good buddy cop story. But you know what I hate? I hate how every single cop show has the characters do things cops should never do. These shows have a Problem of having their heroes go in without a warrant bc "it's an emergency, we don't have time for the red tape!" and rough up suspects and they don't hesitate to draw and fire on someone, and they bend or break the rules when it suits them to Get the Job Done. It irks me. For many reasons. AND ADAM 12 ISN'T LIKE THAT.
Pete especially lives by the book. And he teaches Jim to do the same. As a fun example, someone asks them to deliver a Christmas tree in their patrol car and Pete says no bc it's against the rules. But who goes to get the tree when off duty in his personal car??? Pete Malloy, with Jim in tow. Pete also turns in a dirty cop who saved his life and it is Devastating to watch. They do everything the right way and the Very Few times they don't it is clear that they Messed Up and they have to eat the consequences. For Pete, I can think of three times throughout the course of all the episodes that he clearly goes wrong. One time he is distracted, one time he is trying to save a life and endangers his own, and one time is really painful involving a child victim and the perpetrator and it's hard to watch and I can't imagine many people who wouldn't have done what he did there but the show even Addresses This and Pete says anyone who did what he did would have been wrong too and he faces the consequences without argument. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH GUYS. There are a couple dirty cops and cowboy cops shown in different episodes and they are Always shown to be in the wrong, to be jeopardizing everything that they should be holding dear. Even Ed Wells, a regular character, is a guy you love to hate bc he pushes the rules as much as he can get away with and Pete and Jim give him nothing but crap for it. XD Bless them.
3! I love the pacing! The episodes are half your standard episode length, which is great (terrible) for binging through lol. There is zero filler. Sometimes you want just a tiny bit more filler but it's so good, they just go pop pop pop from call to call, with Pete and Jim's relationship always playing out in the middle of whatever mess they are dealing with. Later seasons focus on a single story usually, but most early episodes are glimpses of an average day in the life of an LAPD officer and they are Rollercoasters.
4! It is surprisingly sensitive for a show made in the 60s-70s. There are definitely a few episodes that are a bit cringe to more modern sensibilities, especially dealing with racism. However! The stories featured there are actually done really well for the most part, and the heart is in the right place even if some of the writing is an unfortunate byproduct of the era. Also you have to laugh at the hippie slang that heavily douses some episodes, especially early on. It's a riot lol.
5! The series shows you these cops doing cop things that nobody thinks about: giving notice to a young woman about her husband's death, assisting other emergency departments, acting as peacemakers between various complaints, looking out for misplaced people, manning the front desk and phone calls, trying to keep people safe more often than trying to put bad guys in prison. I adore that. I think if more cop shows focused on that narrative, we would have more cops today who saw that as the true hero work. The show also explains early on how they don't often get the full story. Detectives and hospitals and lawyers and family members come in to clean up whatever mess the boys had to step into, and it sucks sometimes, but the final product is not usually their job, and they just have to take each call as it comes.
I could go on but this is already so long.
TL;DR
If you like procedural dramas (or maybe even if you don't) you should really give Adam 12 a try. Give it the first three episodes at least and see what you think.
It's a story about two officers who really embody "protect and serve" instead of whatever belligerent cowboy nonsense is pushed by most crime shows.
Pete and Jim would die for each other. They would also die for any random person they come across who needs their help, bc it's their job. They would also do mundane acts of service for each other (while griping affectionately about it) and anyone else.
It has so much heart.
IT'S REALLY FUNNY. PETE AND JIM ARE SO SASSY.
Pete has spidey senses. They are brilliant. He might also have a photographic memory. It was mentioned once and then never again lol.
If you like "clean" media, there is very little swearing/innuendo/gore/etc. This does not make it Light viewing, but it isn't problematic.
It will rip your heart out. Especially the episodes where it's one of the boys in jeopardy. 😭 "Hostage" and "The Search" and "The Princess and the Pig" and "Killing Ground" and "Suspended" and "Trouble in the Bank" and "Operation Action" and the finale stories my beloved and beloathed to name a few.
It will restore your faith in humanity, particularly of officers, even while you facepalm about people's stupidity (sometimes including the officers).
It has a good ending! Not the most complete tie-up of loose ends, but [spoiler] you know these guys are gonna be ok, whatever comes next. So you feel the fulfillment in the ending.
Ok I'm done now.
I love Adam 12 so much.
Thank you for asking. 😭😭😭😭

Ranking the Danganronpa Executions.
//So this is a little different to the rankings that I typically do, but today, I’m actually gonna be ranking down my thoughts on the executions across the Danganronpa series, down to how good I think they are, for animation and symbolism. On a scale from Extremally Bleh to Raw As Fuck.
//I’ve been wanting to do this, but the initial plan was to break down each of the class trials, and I decided not to do that in the end, because it’s been a while since I’ve seen the class trials from the Another games, and I don’t feel like going back through them again just for a regular list. I may do it later though.
//There are a few things to note about this ranking.
I will be covering the executions from the main series, as well as the executions from Danganronpa Another, Another 2, and the two from Blowback before it got cancelled.
This list will not include the Warrior’s Of Hope’s “death” scenes.
It WILL include Chiaki’s death from Danganronpa 3.
There are no proper executions from RebirthVoices, and only one animated execution from the original Rebirth. I will not be including it, so Rebirth as a whole is not on this list.
Hifumi’s execution from the demo is not included. It sucks anyway, so no major loss.
Hyper H20 will not be included at all on this list either, since the executions in that are just drawings. Not that there’s anything wrong with them, but it’s also the case that Hyper H2O is still new to the blog, and as a result, I don’t feel obligated to make it a full part of Survivor’s canon just yet.
It goes without saying that everything on this list is my own personal opinion. You may find that you agree with me in a lot of places, and disagree in some others. Know that you are free to do either/or, and you’re also free to discuss your own opinions in the messages, provided you are nice about it.
//That should be all for now, so without further ado...IT’S PUNISHMENT TIME!
BOTTOM TIER: Bleh...
Number #33: AFTER SCHOOL LESSON [Makoto Naegi/Kyoko Kirigiri]
Tumblr media
//Initially I was going to count both Makoto and Kyoko’s versions of this execution as different executions, but in the end I decided that other than the fact that Alter Ego interrupts Makoto’s, they are literally the same cutscene with a different character.
//And they’re both equally as boring as each other. Narratively, I don’t think it makes TOO little sense, since this seems like an execution that Monokuma coupled together at the last second, because as we know, the purpose of this trial was to frame someone for something they didn’t do, be it Makoto or Kyoko depending on what ending you choose.
//But other than that, I literally have nothing to say about this one. Honestly, given it’s place in canon, it’s lucky it even makes the list. If I’m being honest, it's actually not as terrible as the next spot, but "exciting" and tense is not the word I'd use for it, in spite of how that's meant to be the entire point of the execution.
Number #32: FORCED SHUTDOWN [Alter Ego Junko]
Tumblr media
//Similarly, this one gets low because it barely counts as an execution. A strong way to land the final nail in the coffin for Junko in DR2, but execution? That’s a strong term for it.
//That being said, I actually like this one on it’s own. It's far from being a really good "execution”, and it also doesn't have the same eerie animation style the other executions do, but the one thing it has compared to Junko’s death in DR1 is originality, as opposed to haggling together every execution so far into one. I also just loved to see Monomi/Usami again one more time, because I was honestly beginning to miss her.
Number #31: BYE BYE OUCHIES [Mikan Tsumiki]
Tumblr media
//Mikan, I love you so dearly, but I have always hated what Chunsoft and DR’s writers do to you, because you’re a precious wounded soul and you don’t deserve any of the shit. And this execution is just the final nail in the coffin of just how poorly the writers treated your character.
//Level with me hear reader, does ANYONE like this execution!? Just watching this makes me uncomfortable and I have never once found anyone online saying Mikan's execution is good. Maybe I don’t hate it as much as I used to, but just...what the fuck were they thinking with this?
//Sure, injecting some kind of fluid into a giant arm DOES relate to her talent, with injections and flu shots of course, but there's so much else that could have been done with this one in particular, which is mainly why I'd want a whole rewrite if these games ever got remade.
//Besides, have you ever noticed that Mikan is the only character in the series who we never actually SEE die from the execution? (Not including the Warriors of Hope) She just goes into the atmosphere and vanishes and we just never see her again. LAME...
//This sucky execution was ultimately just the cherry on top of a VERY sucky case.
Number #30: ULTIMATE ANNIHILATION [Shuichi Saihara/Tsumugi Shirogane/Himiko Yumeno/Maki Harukawa/K1-B0]
Tumblr media
//Again, this one BARELY counts as an execution. The only reason it gets higher than Makoto/Kyoko’s and AI Junko’s is because it’s very cinematic compared to those two, but even so.
//I’ll admit that V3′s ending is really...wacky, and that’s putting it kindly. This execution didn’t really give me the sense of satisfaction I hoped it would, and let’s not forget that it actually kinda fails?
//The point of what’s going on here was to destroy the Ultimate Academy, end Danganronpa and kill the 5 remaining students, including the Mastermind, but the only two characters who actually DIE here are Tsumugi and Keebo. Shuichi, Maki and Himiko live, and I’m thinking “What the hell was the point even!?”
//But it still ends up a better cutscene and execution than Mikan’s, just barely. I'll admit, seeing Tsumugi die while waving in the same way Junko does during her execution, makes her death...sympathetic I guess? This could just be me, but I think even SHE realized that maybe this corrupt series couldn't go on forever, since she looks a little sad before she and Monokuma are inevitably crushed by a boulder.
//Also, the highlight of this execution is the final character who dies. Keebo. In order to hit the final nail in the coffin, quite literally, and to destroy the Ultimate Academy for good, Keebo blows himself up and takes everything down with him. I gotta say, that part made me really sad, because I really grew to like Keebo in spite of how basic a character he was throughout the whole game. But it was still pretty awesome.
LOW TIER: Nothing Great...But a little better...
Number #29: WILD WEST INSECTICIDE [Gonta Gokuhara]
Tumblr media
//Case 4 of Danganronpa V3 might be my overall favourite case of that game, but Gonta’s execution BARELY BARELY escapes from being put in the crap tier. If the trial had sucked overall, like Mikan’s, this one would be so much lower.
//The one thing about this execution I like is the music. I think the cowboy vocals in the background are fire. But Gonta is a good character, and this execution was NOT the comeuppance he deserved. Tragic? Yes. Makes sense to his talent? Absolutely! So what’s the problem?
//The problem is that in this situation, Monophanie and Monotaro prove more than ever that the Monokubs are quite possibly the worst thing that ever happened to Danganronpa as a series.
//Gonta is the one being executed tragically here, but for some reason, he’s HARDLY EVER ON SCREEN! The majority of this execution is focused on Monotaro and Monophanie having their dumb incest bug child!
//Now, the Monokubs dying in these executions isn't new, and this is the last time it actually happens, since Monophanie and Monotaro are both killed by this execution, but this execution is the worst offender of that. When Monokid and Monosuke died during Kaede and Kirumi's executions, I didn't care much, because they were brief. For Monodam, I was ok with it, because it was a legitimately surprising death, and even though a lot of the shots were focused on him instead of Kiyo, the context of that execution meant I didn't mind it so much.
//But sorry V3, I've had enough of incest by now, so maybe DON’T force me to watch an execution where THAT'S the central point and NOT the character who's being executed?
Number #28: CULTURAL MELTING POT [Korekiyo Shinguji]
Tumblr media
//I have no sympathy for Kiyo as a character. He was so great, and then Case 3 of V3 just...fucked him...
//Honestly, there’s nothing wrong with this execution, I just don’t think it was NEARLY as satisfying. After what he did, I want him to suffer MORE, which is saying something because honestly, this execution is pretty savage.
//It makes sense and relates to his talent, sure, but it's still an incredibly dissatisfying ending for a VERY dissatisfying trial. Plus, it upsets me every time I see Monodam, my favourite Monokub, commit suicide like that randomly due to his siblings oppression of him.
//And that’s not even mentioning the fact that Kiyo's own sister, who he committed this murder for in the first place, is ultimately the one who ends him, just makes his motive and this whole case...pointless!
//I don’t exactly know where you are in V3′s universe right now Kiyo, but wherever you are, I sincerely hope that you’re surviving off your own bloody tears.
Number #27: THE CAGE OF DEATH [Mondo Owada]
Tumblr media
//This one’s just really fucking weird.
//For the most part it makes total sense, and when you do a bit of research, you see it’s actually referencing some kind of old legend...Which is really cool!
//But...why exactly?
//I don’t think this execution is bad per se, and Game 1 Case 2 is easily one of my favourite cases in the series, in large part thanks to Mondo as a character, but it just confuses me. You mean to tell me that the high speed of the motorcycle in the cage, combined with the electric shock, caused Mondo's body to liquefy into...butter...? And then Monokuma eats him with pancakes?
//Ok...?
//Granted, there are a couple of things that make this execution good. Mondo’s expressions throughout, the fact that liquification is an original idea that hasn’t been done to anyone else yet...But other than the next spot, it’s the only execution in DR1 that made me think “Well, this is weird.”
Number #26: THE ULTIMATE PUNISHMENT [Junko Enoshima]
Tumblr media
//It’s the ULTIMATE Punishment! The final and glorious death for the evil Junko Enoshima, the Mastermind behind the killing game and the most despicable human being that’s ever lived!
//And it’s SO TOTALLY UNORIGINAL!
//Ok, so this is a better final cutscene and execution than 2 and V3, because it’s an ACTUAL execution. And honestly, I don’t know what I would have done differently, because of all directions they could have gone in for Junko’s death, this made the most sense. I mean, the one who was behind the executions is being murdered by all the executions.
//However, that really removes any sort of...uniqueness from this scheme. I mean, I don't know WHAT kind of execution Junko would have other than this one, since her talent is really vague at this point, but I do kind of wish things ended a little differently.
Number #25: SEINA DATENASHI’S EXECUTION
Tumblr media
//Our first (and worst) fangan execution. This isn’t cool, it’s just complete chaos.
//And by the way, I don’t know this executions name, because I cannot read Korean. If anyone does know how, please dm me the actual translation so I can edit this later (provided Tumblr will let me)
//Honestly, I look at this execution as maybe like...an unused execution for Kaede, but when it’s Seina, it doesn’t actually make an awful lot of sense. Seina is crushed to death after falling rapidly through several wooden stages, due to Monokuma violently playing Piano.
//Seina’s not a pianist! She’s a violinist, so the piano should serve NO PURPOSE! Not be the thing that actually KILLS HER. You cannot claim that an Ultimate Violinist’s execution is such just because there’s another Monokuma on the stage playing a violin, who by the way, doesn’t do ANYTHING by the way.
//Someone online said that the way the execution SHOULD have gone is “she starts playing a traditional song with her violin but a Monokuma gets bored and throws a rose with very sharp thorns at her, in turn she starts playing faster but more and more roses are thrown and she goes faster and faster until all the strings on her bow snaps and she collapses, dead  in a bloody pink mess of roses with sharp thorns” That would’ve been awesome.
MID TIER: Maliciously...Mediocre.
Number #24: BLAST OFF! [Jin Kirigiri]
Tumblr media
//The appeal of this execution comes from how it serves narratively. This punishment works better for Kaito later down the line for a few reasons, but we’ll get there when we get there.
//No joke, this is the legit FIRST THING you bare witness to when you start playing Danganronpa 1, and the purpose is to give you a taste of what it is you’re in for. And I think it does so pretty successfully.
//Jin’s animations in this scene are horrific, and even though Danganronpa isn’t technically a horror, this one scene right at the start gives you that impression. Admittedly, it does fall apart at the end a little because of the cartoon skeleton that falls out of the machine though, but overall, this one’s pretty successful at doing it’s job in the narrative.
Number #23: EXCAVATOR DESTROYER [Alter Ego Chihiro]
Tumblr media
//The thing this execution does best above everything else is it shows Monokuma’s sadism extremely well. It makes it clear, narratively, that Monokuma knew about Alter Ego, and went out of his way to make this execution for the AI. Which he was inevitably going to use regardless of whether Alter Ego served as a sacrifice in place of Sakura.
//In terms of the canon executions, this one is the exact centerpoint, toppling between it being pretty good, and pretty bad. There’s just not much to say about it.
//All it is is a computer getting the shit beat out of it. There’s not much more than that.
Number #22: RUNAWAY TRAIN GHOST RIDER [Mikako Kurokawa]
Tumblr media
//Honest to god, the fact that Mikako’s execution is my least favourite from the Danganronpa Another series by LINUJ is honestly the best compliment I can give to those fangames. While I’ve never been a big fan of the class trials and the mysteries, I think someone really needs to check if the creator is ok, because of a lot of these executions are INSANELY brutal.
//The reason why this one is the worst is for two main reasons. For one thing, Mikako is actually ALREADY DEAD by the time this sequence happens, having committed suicide just moments prior. And despite the fact that Another 1 tries to play into the original DR’s canon, this doesn’t make an awful lot of sense, because by that logic, Monokuma would have tried to execute Sakura too, despite being dead.
//It is pretty sadistic and funny thought that Monokuma does try to execute her corpse.
//The OTHER reason of course, is that this execution actually FAILS. Not in the same manner that Kaito’s does in V3, where he dies before his execution finishes, but it straight up just...stops...There’s no crash, no explosion, all due to a random power outage. So there’s a lot of build up for pretty much nothing.
//That being said, the context of this execution and it’s animations get it at least this far high up. Despite the fact that Another 1 ran on a slightly more dumbed down engine, and thus the animations aren’t completely top tier, for what they are, they’re super impressive.
Number #21: MELODY RHYTHM FINAL DEATH CONCERT [Hibiki Otonokoji/Kanade Otonokoji]
Tumblr media
//I think it’s the characters involved in this execution that bring it down a little bit, because honestly, Kanade and Hibiki were both pretty annoying in my opinion. However, I do think that this moment was REALLY unfair to Hibiki, having been executed in a case that she knew NOTHING about. Kinda like was the case with Gonta, but...worse.
//But what makes this one GOOD is the horrific stuff that happens in it, and the helplessness on her face and her struggle to survive, only to be completely decapitated by the thing meant to save her is really hard to watch. And then with Hibiki gone, the floor falls out under Kanade, and she is hung to death.
//Plus, as seen above, when Hibiki immediately goes for the key, Kanade grabs her, which shows that she doesn’t give a shit whether she lives or dies, so long as Hibiki goes down with her. Which then follows with Hibiki, rightfully, bashing Kanade’s head in with a microphone. The imagery is sick, and it really gets to me.
//However, It’s a bit fast, and that’s both good and bad thing. A lot of executions are dragged out for emphasis, but not this one. So while it’s original, it doesn’t exactly have the same effect.
//Plus, as mentioned, the circumstance of this execution just leaves me a little sour.
Number #20: MIKIHIKO KOYASUNAGA’S EXECUTION
Tumblr media
//Again, I don’t know the name, because it’s all in Korean.
//Honestly, this execution is a LOT like Mondo’s from DR1, except it’s less weird and is a little more horrific, but other than that, I don’t have much to say about it.
//Seeing Mikihiko get slashed by...whatever the fuck that is behind him, is brutal and bloody, and FAR more appropriate to his talent than Seina’s execution was. What drops it down a little bit is that the sequence of events are...confusing.
//He’s hung up like a puppet on strings, wearing a dress, and slashed open a few times by the claws of the beast behind him. Then Monokuma’s drag him down into a machine and he emerges as a neatly stitched together doll.
//I don’t have a lot to say about this one. It’s just the same as Mondo’s execution but better.
Number #19: PRESS CONFERENCE [Nikei Yomiuri]
Tumblr media
//This one is actually pretty freaking brutal, and honestly, it’s purely through circumstance that it barely escapes the higher tier, because it’s written PERFECTLY.
//One of Nikei’s character traits is his confidence and reliance in his writing hand, which right before this execution, he loses as a result of firing a faulty gun. And what does he do when he tries to reach for the ladder at the end of his execution? He tries to grab it with his right hand.
//And it’s crazy as well because it clearly means Mikado KNEW that Nikei would attempt this, and KNEW that Nikei would lose his right hand before this execution! How crazy do you have to be to have planned this so meticulously!?
//That being said, given that Nikei hit rock bottom with his character at this point, the lack of sympathy I felt for him really knocks this one down a few pegs. Had it been the case that Nikei had been a better person and not one of the bad guys, he might’ve gotten a lot higher, but this was his just desserts. Plus, it’s more about Mikado than him anyway.
//Plus, the sequence drags onto a chase, but really it’s a fall that does Nikei in, and that’s it. Nothing savage or suffering like Leon or Mitch. But this is still a pretty good one.
HIGH TIER: These go pretty hard.
Number #18: THE BURNING OF THE VERSAILLES WITCH [Celestia Ludenberg]
Tumblr media
//Nikei barely managed to avoid getting into High tier, and similarly, Celeste barely escaped mid-tier. If it wasn’t for the hilarious twist at the end of this execution, it would’ve been mediocre at best.
//This is an appropriate end for Celeste, being basically a manipulative witch, and as such, dying like one. But had she just burned to death, I would’ve put this one WAY lower. The Fire Truck rushing in at the end and flattening her, I will confess, was pretty funny.
//It’s good. It works. It makes sense. And that’s all that matters at the end of the day. It only beats Nikei’s due to the better animation and more hilarious twist.
Number #17: THE SPEARS OF GUNGNIR [Mukuro Ikusaba]
Tumblr media
//Yes, the Spears of Gungnir that kill Mukuro DO COUNT as an execution. There’s no flashy cutscene or anything, but the rules do state that if a rule is broken, the subsequent student will be executed. Mukuro broke a rule by attacking Monokuma, and was executed, which means this counts as an execution.
//But it still doesn’t make sense why it would be this high, even if it does count, because there’s no flashy animation, no zany music, and it’s very sudden.
//And honestly...yeah THAT’S the reason why it’s so high, because it’s very sudden! I can sum up what makes this one good in two words.
//Shock Value.
//Mukuro’s death in DR1 is quite possibly the most unexpected kill in the whole series. You know full well people are gonna die, but this just comes TOTALLY out of nowhere. And the little sporadic twitches, as well as her last words are CHILLING.
//It’s purely because of the lack of proper execution standards that leave this one so low on the list, but it’s super shocking and plays a huge role in the narrative of the game, so I think it deserves credit where credit is due.
Number #16: PLEASE INSERT COIN [Chiaki Nanami (Danganronpa 2)]
Tumblr media
//The video game imagery goes hard in this execution, and it’s really clever and creative! While I definitely won’t call it my favourite, this is a pretty great way to end one of the best trials that the series has to offer.
//It’s tragic, and hard to watch for those who love Chiaki, which I KNOW is a lot of people, but it still has the same goofiness and over-the-top animation that an execution should have. It doesn’t pick tragedy over comedy and it’s a perfect balance.
//In fact, it’s low on the list because I think it’s a bit overrated, and it does drag on for an awful long while. There are like, three different traps in this execution, and only one, the least impressive might I add, kills her.
//This execution is unique and it’s pretty clever. That’s all that it needs to be.
Number #15: BLAST OFF! SECOND IGNITION! [Kaito Momota]
Tumblr media
//Kaito Momota is my 5th favourite Danganronpa character, and what happens in this sequence is a major reason why. WHAT A WAY TO GO OUT!
//Similarly to what I said about Mikako, what makes this execution an outlier is that it actually fails. But unlike Mikako, who dies before the execution can START, Kaito goes out before it FINISHES, dying on his own terms, and ruining the whole show, which pisses...Monokuma...off...HARD.
//Narratively, it’s amazing. Because it didn’t matter that Shuichi figured out the truth, or that he stopped Kokichi and Kaito’s plan. They still won. They STILL broke the killing game.
//It’s amazing that this is one of the most original executions in terms of narrative, and yet it’s reused from Jin Kirigiri’s execution from the first game. To me, this has always felt like the basis for Monokuma's inevitable downfall, and what happens with this execution, in a way, completes the master plan. The writing of this one is superb, and honestly, the best written one.
Number #14: DEEP FRIED TERUTERU [Teruteru Hanamura]
Tumblr media
//The first execution in every game is the most important, because it has to be impactful and set the player up for what they’re in for. Not including Jin Kirigiri’s execution, the one that I consider to be the worst is Teruteru’s.
//But by worst, I don’t mean it’s bad. In fact holy shit, this one is still pretty fucking brutal, and is one of the main series better ones.
//Witnessing it was just as horrifying as the scene that happened just before it, where Teruteru actually seems willing to accept his punishment, and is ready to die for his actions, but before he dies, asks what happened to the Hanamura diner and his mother, and Monokuma refuses to tell him. That kinda stung, and then it’s emphasized when he dies in such a horrific and painful way.
//The execution is also a bit violent from how he actually died, since the actual death process lasts for a couple of seconds at most. He burns slowly in lava, I mean...nothing hurts much more.
//Poor Teruteru. You may be a creep, but you didn’t deserve THIS.
Number #13: SUPER MAKUNOUCHING MACHINE [Hajime Makunouchi]
Tumblr media
//And THIS one is even worse.
//Like I said, the first executions always seem to be the most impactful, and the same is true for SDRA2′s first victim, Hajime Makunouchi, who is not only bludgeoned to death with powerful fists 999 times, all of which hit him straight in the face, but he is then SHREDDED by the machine he is trapped in, and is turned into a plush.
//Fucking OW!
//I don’t have an awful lot to discuss about this one, because honestly, by the time I saw this, I was used to the first executions being super brutal, but you know what? It still deserves credit, for being overly violent, and creative, yet simple in practice.
Number #12: STRAND OF AGONY [Kirumi Tojo]
Tumblr media
//The first time I saw this execution, I didn’t really like it, simply because I felt nothing for Kirumi. She was my least favourite character in V3, and for a while, the series, because I just didn’t like how she was written.
//Over the course of time however, she’s MASSIVELY grown on me, and now that I look back at this execution, HOLY FUCKING SHIT THIS ONE IS SAVAGE!
//A lot of people have argued that this is the best execution in the series, and while I don’t necessarily agree, it’s DEFINITELY the best from V3, where the others aren’t all that impressive.
//And yes, I know we still have one more from V3 to go, but I like that one for a bit of a different reason, but as far as brutality and symbolism go, this one is the best.
//Strand of Agony, involves the Ultimate Maid being chased through a hallway by a group of protesters holding signs that say "Notice to Quit" in English and some other foreign languages. As she tries to run away, she gets blocked off by another group. She didn't know what to do until she sees a vine with thorns drop down from the ceiling. The vine goes through a couple of spider-webs. Kirumi grabs on and climbs up, because of it being the only way out, piercing her hands in the process. Kirumi then stops as she encounters a large group of circular saws activating throughout the walls. Kirumi stares in hesitation for a moment, but determined to escape, she proceeds to climb through. As she makes her way to the top, she gets slashed and lacerated several times, causing her to scream in pain. Soon after she escapes from the saws, she is worn out, sustained a lot of injuries, and a lot of her clothes are cut off. She then looks up to see a blue sky and sunlight pouring through a hole on the top of the ceiling. Thinking that it is a way out, she continues climbing and reaches for the gap. Instead, she touches the ceiling and the hole turns out to be an illusion, which was actually a children's drawing of a sky and a sun. As she stares in disbelief and despair, the vine then breaks, causing Kirumi to fall and go splat on the ground.
//It’s torture after torture, and it never lets up. This whole execution treats her as if she's nothing more than a spider, not only climbing a dead end rope of thorns, but also falling to her death and going splat.
Number #11: SATSUKI CRISIS [Satsuki Iranami]
Tumblr media
//You ever played that game Pop-Up Pirate as a kid? Where you have to joust toy swords into a barrel, and whoever loses is the one who puts in the the sword that causes the pirate to pop out of the barrel?
//That that, but as an execution, and God it hurts.
//It doesn’t help that this is a similar situation to Gundham, where Satsuki, the blackened, committed her crime for a just reason, and now is happy to resign herself to her horrible fate. She barely stops smiling the entire time she’s in the barrel, and it’s heartbreaking.
//And as if the swords piercing through her aren’t enough, when she pops, she just goes splat on the ceiling. Seriously, LINUJ’s executions are all really good, both violently and narratively.
//The reason why Satsuki’s execution barely escapes the top 10 is because the symbolism doesn’t exactly tie in with her Ultimate Clown talent. It does so more than Seina’s execution of course, but even so.
//This a good one. And with that, we finally get into the top 10. And we kick off with...
Number #10: DISMANTLING SPORTS DAY [Ayame Hatano]
Tumblr media
//I know it seems a little controversial, but I genuinely really like Ayame’s  execution. It’s simple in practice, but savage in display.
//And the build-up and tension as you’re waiting for that shredder to get closer and closer, until it cuts her up into tiny little pieces, but then you’re caught by surprise, as it turns out the finishing line at the end of the race track is actually a blade, and it cuts her TOTALLY IN HALF.
//And the look on Ayame’s face right before she’s sliced is one that shows SHE KNOWS it’s a trap, and that’s the worst part about it.
//If there’s one thing about this execution that I don’t like, and stops it from getting into the top tier, it’s the fact that this execution suffers the most from the limited animation potential of the first game, because the jumps are a little goofy looking to be honest.
TOP TIER: RAW AF!
Number #09: GUNDHAM TANAKA STAMPEDE [Gundham Tanaka]
Tumblr media
//This one hurts...
//So...fucking...much...
//It’s pathetic of me to admit this, but I cannot watch this execution and NOT cry my eyes out. But it’s primarily because of the circumstance and not the actual execution itself that I cry, so I can’t put it up too high, because the actual execution is pretty simple, and the buildup is kinda ridiculous actually.
//I think Peko’s execution was played to be a little sadder, but for me, this is the one that takes the cake. Gundham is another character who's in my top 5 and for good reason. Seeing him go like this, as well as the fact that you can see the life leave his body as he stares at his pets, combined with the final shot of his face in the distance is something I can never get over.
//It may be straightforward, but it is pretty brutal when he finally gets rammed. So it has brutality points too.
//It’s great, and it’s the cherry on top of a delicious cake that is Game 2 Case 4.
Number #08: LAUNCHURCH [Kinji Uehara]
Tumblr media
//This one is great. It’s similar to Celeste’s execution with the sudden hilarious twist in the end, but it also works really well with the heavy religious imagery, and the symbolism of the sacrifice of christ, similar to how Kinji made a sacrifice to protect the lives of the children.
//And much like Jesus, if I may be forgiven for saying so, it was all in vein.
//And then you see the Monokuma’s gathered around, and it’s a slow, brutal, agonizing process...
//Until the cross turns into a rocket and he’s shot up into the air!
//I don’t want to laugh at an execution that is this well choreographed, and honestly, despite my own problematic thoughts towards Kinji in this chapter, this was an appropriate end for someone of his moniker.
Number #07: CHIAKI NANAMI’S EXECUTION (DR3)
Tumblr media
//This is the only execution in Danganronpa 3, and a lot of people in the fandom heavily agree it’s one of the worst experiences. I mean, look how badly it got NicoB.
//Kirumi’s execution is bad, since she ends up a completely mangled corpse, but CHIAKI in DR3 is far worse! At the end of the long process of her navigating through the hellish maze Junko set up, she ends up with a completely pierced-through foot (which she has to walk on for a majority of the execution), a gouged eye, a broken arm, a pierced-through knee, a stabbed heart, and a mangled body from falling on spikes.
//And the worst part about the whole execution is, somehow, despite taking an absolute pounding, Chiaki is STILL ALIVE in the end, for a few minutes at least, and this is the only time in the series where this happens! Which means she suffers for another good minute before she finally succumbs!
//Which gives her enough time to talk to Izuru. Who as a reminder, is the empty shell of Hajime Hinata, and the last thing Chiaki sees. Think about that. The last thing this girl sees before she dies an extremely painful and agonizing is the empty shell of her best friend in the whole world, looking down at her with a blank expression.
//As if she didn’t already suffer enough.
//It would be a crime not to put this one in the top tier, and the only reason it’s not number one is because Danganronpa 3 left a bad taste in my mouth overall. Had the anime actually been good, and not leave a bunch of questions without answers, then maybe, just maybe, this one would have more of a chance.
//If Chiaki Nanami is up in heaven, she’d BETTER be happy dammit! No one, ESPECIALLY not her, deserved this.
Number #06: THE DEATH VOLCANO SHOOT!!! [Mitsuhiro Higa] {BEST IN DRA1}
Tumblr media
//GET FUCKED!
//Sorry. I don’t like Mitch at all, and this execution was really satisfying to watch.
//But it is definitely brutal, and honestly, it’s hard to put into words properly, but I’ma try.
//You know how Leon’s execution was super brutal? Well, you can tell that LINUJ tried, and definitely succeeded, in recreating that. Strapping him to a football and kicking him about sounds super torturous.
//And that’s not even mentioning the state Mitch’s body is left in post execution. The Monokuma’s kicking the ball about kick him around so fast, it LITERALLY sets the football field ON FIRE! The last thing you see as the monitor pans out to the reaction of the other students is what’s left of Mitch. In pieces, and completely charred.
//This a prime example of just how good LINUJ is at making the executions, from both a brutality perspective, as well as a narrative one.
Number #05: THE EMMA IN THE WOODS [Emma Magarobi] {BEST IN SDRA2}
Tumblr media
//There is one more execution from SDRA2 that gets just above this one, but technically speaking, this is the best PROPER execution from SDRA2.
//The choreography and symbolism is legitimately AMAZING. And while I have very mixed opinions on Emma as a killer, it’s a similar case with Kirumi in which the execution is so brutal and scary, you can’t help but feel a little bad.
//It perfectly ties in with Emma’s talent, forming an execution made of movie references, and the ending part was super gory, and tied in with a lot of horror tropes.
//Ultimately, this one is just plain great. There’s nothing bad I can say about it, and like before, an example of why LINUJ is really good at horrific imagery and executions.
Number #04: DEEP SEA TRIP [Sora/Yuki Maeda/Iroha Nijiue/Yoruko Kabuya]
Tumblr media
//Waitwaitwaitwaitwait...hear me out on this one.
//Like I said before, I believe the best execution in SDRA2 is Emma’s but only because it’s the best PROPER execution. As far as the executions in general go, this one GOT ME BAD!
//The reason is because this execution happens as a result of something that the series has NEVER DONE before which is...a WRONG VERDICT. Mikado manipulates everyone into thinking that Iroha killed Teruya, when in reality, HE is the purpotrator, and he succeeds in doing so.
//So as you can probably imagine, my heart rate went through the roof when I watched this cutscene. I know that Danganronpa games are typically 6 chapters, so you’re probably thinking, “well, you know that there’s a 6th chapter, so you know they’re gonna be ok by the end of this.”
//But that’s the thing!
//I WASN’T SURE!
//I don’t think I’ve ever been so scared playing Danganronpa as I was in this moment. I genuinely thought that Sora and the others were through, and that was gonna be the end of all of it. Of course, the execution fails because the program crashes, but it didn’t stop me from being scared.
//This was the highlight of what made SDRA2 so special, despite all the problems with it’s class trials, it still delivered in this moment SPECTACULARLY. Plus, the animation and the frantic pacing of this is incredible.
//And with that...it’s time for the top 3.
Number #03: DER FLOHWALZER [Kaede Akamatsu] {BEST IN DRV3}
Tumblr media
//You guys already know just how much I love Kaede, and as you can imagine, this hurt more than you could believe for me.
//Not only did I have to watch a character I adored playing as go to her tragic death, but said death was SO UNBEARABLY painful to watch. But it is good, and I’m glad it was what it was as opposed to what Seina Datenashi got.
//To me, I feel like this execution almost takes place in real time, and it's very hard to not feel a little sick, and the music and how off key it becomes as the execution progresses further emphasizes Kaede slowly and gradually losing more and more of the life within her as she dangles above the keys.
//The thing that makes this execution so heartbreaking is how each of the scene's transition. Kaede is one of the characters in the series who is so full of life, and is so fun to be around and watch, but every time the camera shifts from her to somewhere else, every time it shifts back, a bit of that life has since faded from her face and thus keeps happening until there is nothing left of it in her.
//She was one of the most cruel executions in the whole series, and you can hold it to me on that.
Number #02: ONE WOMAN ARMY [Peko Pekoyama] {BEST IN DR2}
Tumblr media
//This execution is amazing for one big reason: The narrative of what happens, and I’ll explain why.
//First of all, this execution made Chapter 2′s ending somehow EVEN MORE heart-wrenching than it already was. It's not nearly as violent as most of the executions in the series, particularly because you don't really see her get stabbed by the Manikins (or Monokins as I like to call them ;)) but it's arguably the most emotionally cruel.
//The most notable part of this execution, is even though it's basically a lost cause at this point, Fuyuhiko actually rushes into the execution to try and save her. The most screwed up part of this trial, is that the way everything is set up, it seems as if Monokuma PREDICTED that Fuyuhiko would do this!
//I mean, think about it. What would be more despairing for Peko than dealing harm to the one person she spent her whole life trying to protect? He freaking KNEW Fuyuhiko would try to save Peko, and WORKED it into the execution process!
//That's fucked! That's SO fucked! Not only because Fuyuhiko is left clinging onto life by a thread for an execution that wasn't even meant for him, but because that's EXACTLY how Peko ends up dying, because she uses her own body to shield his from the sword blades, so that they don't reach his vitals. Not only that, but Monokuma gets Peko to slice Fuyuhiko's right eye in half, which is just kind of emotionally painful.
//Game 2 Case 2 gets a bad rep for being dragged out a lot, and yes, I do kinda agree, but I think this conclusion made up for all the errors that came with it. This was a close shave, and this execution barely escaped being the number one...
//But of course, there’s only one execution in the whole series that deserves the title, both in and out of canon, and by now, you should’ve recognized which one it is. I shouldn’t even have to say it...but...
NUMBER #01: THE 1000 BLOWS [Leon Kuwata] {BEST IN DR1}
Tumblr media
//As the title of George Washington’s autobiography states...you never forget your first.
//Leon’s execution is a masterpiece. It exceeds all others in terms of brutality, narrative, and every other thematic piece of importance that executions serve in the series. This execution DEFINED those principles.
//Technically speaking, the first execution in the series was Jin Kirigiri’s, but since Jin’s was part of a prologue where the player doesn’t get what’s going on yet, it doesn’t give the player as much of a taste as to the true cruelty of the killing game as Leon’s 1000 blows does.
//Plus, yes, like I said earlier, Mukuro’s death counts as an execution, but it’s not the same theatrical performance that Leon’s death was. And as weird as it sounds, being speared all over the body seems like a far easier death than being bludgeoned to death by baseballs.
//This is the first REAL execution in the entire series, which means it needs to leave one hell of an impact, and holy shit, it does so amazingly! Leon's execution has a whole new meaning to it, and sets up the series, showing the extent of the twisted nature and the darkness of this world, and that the world we once knew is now far beyond our grasp. This is also one of the first instances where we see the almost haunting animation that all the punishments are associated with. Again, we see it with Jin, and it's JUST as horrifying there, but again...lack of context. Leon's facial expressions as the chain clasps his neck tightly and drags him away kicking and screaming is nightmarish, on a level that none of the other executions have achieved thus far. However, the real shock is that this is only the beginning. The REAL punishment has yet to come!
//As soon as Leon is strung up to the post, it becomes clear how the punishments relate to the victims Ultimate Talent, as the player watches in horror as a machine gun/pitching machine is loaded with baseballs. Imagine what it would be like to have hundreds of thousands of baseballs shot at you from every possible angle. If you can manage that, then you know as soon as you see those baseballs, that there is absolutely no way that Leon is going to make it out alive.
//And his death...is painful.
//The last thing you see before the cutscene ends is the last blood-coated baseball rolling towards the camera while Leon's limp and lifeless body hangs in the background, and it’s at this point that you know you’re going to be in for a sick, twisted affair of a game. I love it, not in an edgy way, but from a writing and over-arcing perspective.
//Things in Hope’s Peak...have never been the same since.
Tumblr media
//And that’s that. Please, I heavily implore you to leave your own thoughts in the comments below. Chances are I may turn this post into a script for a video later down the line, but in case it’s not obvious, I love this series, and will for a long time.

Precipice for the Fanfic Writer Asks
Ah, my most recently posted meresino work! 💖
I kind of ended up answering both questions in one go, but tl;dr: the trickiest scene was Orsino's love confession, given that it's based on a shared history that's only shown in snippets within this work. And insofar as anything I write is ever meant to be instructional, I wanted to share my understanding of the similarities between Meredith and Orsino. More broadly, I wanted to explore how things don't necessarily happen for a reason, how we as people often craft narratives to make sense of an arbitrary and unfair world. And yet, we also can't forget that there are people who benefit of from our suffering and oppression, but the system is deliberately designed to hinder us from accurately identifying the culprits.
The Long Version
The love confession took several rewrites, and truth be told, I'm still not 100% satisfied with it: I wanted there to be a bit more of a transition from the preceding paragraph, which is more focused on physical chemistry.
At this point, I could probably write Meredith and Orsino fighting and/or fucking in my sleep, but genuine emotion is still a bit more tricky, because neither of them are well practiced in allowing themselves feel any sort of attachment, let alone express it. With words.
That being said, Orsino has had the better part of fifteen years to dwell on his regrets (all while watching one of the most important people in his life become progressively angrier and more bitter), and most importantly, he's always been a bit of an optimist! Whereas Meredith is, uh, not.
Also, because I could talk about the parallels and contrasts between them for days, I see both Meredith and Orsino as characters who are defined by their boundless capacity for love. On one hand, Meredith loses everyone she's ever cared about but yet cannot stop herself from wanting to protect those in her power at all costs (but that's a meta for another day). And then there's Orsino, who remembers little of his life before the Circle, who pours so much of himself into advocating for those around him. But nobody ever really shows him that same level of care and devotion back. His best friend as an apprentice dies in part due to how much she misses her family and wishes she could see them. And while Orsino can objectively acknowledge that that's fucking awful, he can't personally relate, because there's nothing for him outside the Circle. The Circle is all he's known. TL;DR BUT basically what I am getting at is that with the love confession scene I wanted to convey two things: 1) the concept that it's often easier to love than be loved 2) and that for a brief, fleeting moment in time, Orsino was the most important person in Meredith's world, and he's never going to forget that he actually mattered to somebody. Given that this is my 'technically canon-compliant' verse, I just love the inherent tragedy of shared history drawing two deeply fucked-up, traumatised people back into each other's orbit, and them both being destroyed by the thing they fear the most (love, and being loved in return). Meredith tries so hard to save a city that is beyond saving to the point of actively hastening its destruction. And Orsino (at least in this 'verse), desperately needs to believe that Meredith can change, because what does it say about his worth as a person if one of the few people who has ever made him a priority is capable of such cruelty and hatred? How is he supposed to reconcile that? The Last Straw is in a way, the last straw for so many of the characters involved. Anders blows up the Chantry, murdering the Grand Cleric to remove any chance of compromise. Whatever one's opinion on Anders, it's irrefutable that his intentions were to start a war, or at least to shake up the city so much that people simply couldn't coast on the status quo any longer. Anders deliberately eliminates the last person in the city Meredith felt any shred of accountability towards. And in the absence of that accountability, she takes out her rage and her fear and her guilt on the last group of people she feels she can actually DO anything about: the mages, and more specifically, her mages. She doesn't even DO anything with Anders. For all intents and purposes, she turns to Hawke and says, 'You deal with your problem mage, I'll deal with mine'. Meanwhile, Orsino is facing the horrible consequences of his own failures: there was a part of him that genuinely thought he could stop Meredith. That if he tried enough, if he loved her hard enough... And he realises, too late, that it isn't going to work, that it was never going to work.
And that's also why I think he gives up (gives in) in the end. Even if Hawke helps him, there's a moment where he's confronted with the sheer magnitude of what he feels he's allowed to happen, and it's just... too much! And it was all for nothing, too, because there's absolutely no way Meredith is getting out of this unscathed. Orsino can't save his mages, he can't save the woman he loves, and in the end, he can't even save himself. ... Anyway, so that's that on how this is a story about the sheer destructive power of positive emotions, especially when one is trapped in a system that is deliberately oppressive.

Before I upload Luna Sapphire's Birthday drawing, I decided to show off some of the Recaps for 2022 when playing with my Switch. For Most played, I usually play Animal Crossing New Horizons, Pokemon Cafe Remix and Colors Live. Cause with Animal Crossing New Horizons, I usually like to play with friends or do some random tasks as well as for doing the Happy Home Paradise stuff if I have time to design a house. For Pokemon Cafe Remix, I play it a lot during lunch time and it's the only Free to Play Title I enjoy playing. Especially if I wanted to go to the Pokemon Cafe like if I want to visit Tokyo, Japan. And for Colors Live, I always like to draw since Colors Live is the app I use Besides Medibang Paint.
For 3+ Years of Play, not only I play the two I just said, but I do enjoy playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe a lot. I usually like to do online races and even try out the new courses they got for the Booster Pass.
And for Games I played at Launch, I have played Puzzles and Dragons since it just look interesting compared to Puzzles and Dragons and the Mario version on the 3DS, then I got Kirby's Dream Buffet which I enjoyed the game a lot, even though my sister didn't like it much. But I would imagine having Shadow and Spot bring Lisa, Tory, Riya and Vanilla eating the sweets and strawberries after performing ballet together. Especially like if they're going to eat ice cream together. And for Sonic Frontiers, I have told you in the last post when I was sick with COVID, I do enjoy the game since the settings and music just puts me at ease. And for the favorites besides one of titles I told you guys. Not only I like the titles I told you guys, but I have favorites too. Since I do like Magical World 2 since it is my Guilty Pleasure. It's different when I usually play Kingdom Hearts all the time since 1, 2 and 3 were so good.
I have played NES and SNES a lot since that I played back in the past like if I have nothing else to do. Even like when playing some of the classic games I do enjoy, and since I got into the Nintendo 64 and Genesis, it be amazing for me to play when I have nothing else to do. And my sister does enjoy the Nintendo 64 as well since she does enjoy Mario Tennis. For Mario 3D World and Bowser's Fury, I am getting progress when going through 3D World and once I beat it, then I'll move onto Bowser's Fury and see if I can get through the game as well. For Puyo Puyo Champions, I love the game so much it's something I play if I have nothing else to do like every time I play Puyo Puyo, I always imagine Sonic and Puyo Puyo are both related. Some people said that's because they're both made by Sega, and some people also said like it is like we remember Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. I remember it, my dad's remember it, they're both really good. For Smash Bros. Ultimate, I do sometimes enjoy playing online, but I do like to practice some matches when I want to enjoy some fun and enjoy adventure mode. That's why I was thinking of wanting Smash Bros to have an RPG game and collaborate it with Square Enix. And finally Miitopia cause this version is much better than the 3DS version since you get a Horse and customize a Player how you feel about the character, especially when you have some friends you know and care about that want to be in the story. And I also put like characters I know from Anime or cartoons or other video games as well.
Finally my Game Trends. I do like Racing and Multiplayer, but I do like to educate by drawing stuff and educate some imagination besides reading and math. And for Simulation, it sure likes to put me at ease when playing a good Simulation game like Animal Crossing, same when communicating as well. And for the Puzzle games, I do like to ease up my mind with some good puzzles. Especially if I want to solve any clues or cases.
And that's all I have to say for this Year's Recap for the Nintendo games. Hope we'll look forward to next year when Switch make these new titles in the future.

Anime and Manga Log [06/18/23]
This was a fairly busy week. There was a new series out of Weekly Shonen Jump, Black Clover movie, and the spring anime season is starting to finish up. Additionally a new JoJo chapter dropped. Plenty to talk about as always. Discussion and Spoilers for the following series below: Martial Master Asumi 1 [NEW] Do Retry 7 Cipher Academy 28 Tenmaku Cinema 10 365 Days to the Wedding 110 [END] Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King Dr. Stone New World (Season 3) 11 [Cour 1 END] Demon Slayer Swordsmith Village Arc 11 [END]
Martial Master Asumi 1 [NEW] Kawada from Hinomaru Sumo returns with a series about mixed material arts. I didn’t read his previous series and I didn’t get into the anime either, but I thought it was cool that he survived for 5 years in Jump in the shadows of bigger hits. The first chapter was more dense than usual since they wanted to set up the MC and his family along with giving the audience some background to the sport in case they don’t know. Its a solid first chapter overall. My only nitpick is the bullies coming back over and over again was slightly annoying. Rather than the first chapter being a single string of events, it felt like a 2 act story with the school at the start then the Dojo in the back half. The art is great as expected for a Jump veteran. The opening color spread in particular is much more striking than you typically see. I’ll be looking forward to more.  Do Retry 7 From the mangaka behind Bone Collection comes a boxing series that takes place during World War 2. He has improved substantially since his previous serialization in drawing, character writing, and clearly picked up techniques while working for Yusei Matsui. The first arc is a boxing match against someone who is in a similar situation to our protagonist where they’re in the sport to protect someone precious to them. However, he’s fallen off the path and became more and more obsessed with strength to prove his worth. The intensity of the match was crazy with Aozora taking punch after punch. I love how it culminates in finally closing the distance and delivering the finishing punch in return. That caps off the first volume with a W for our main character. Its hard to say if this series can stick around, but for the time being I’m enjoying it. Cipher Academy 28 This week we began the 3rd match of this class vs. class code battle. The theme is determining your ally from your enemy, or are they perhaps the same person, maybe neither? This question is presented to us in 2 different ways. Firstly, in the form of Yukako’s backstory. This is a 6 star puzzle because there can be no definitive solution to whether her actions were good or bad. The answer will depend on who you ask. Its a similar reason given for the previous 6 star puzzle from earlier in the series. Secondly, we get the question in a more literal form. Toshusai is presented with two projections of Yukako and has to determine who is the real one based on pure instinct. Its a question about how well can you know and trust someone. If she guesses correct that means our class got a clean 3-0 victory. That seems unlikely since Iroha still needs a turn. We shall see next week. Tenmaku Cinema 10 Unfortunately Tenmaku Cinema doesn’t appear to be catching on with Japanese readers. Could it be the abundance of movie themed stories like Sakamoto Days and Oshi no Ko? maybe readers aren’t fond of the mc using someone’s else work (similar to Time Paradox Ghost Writer)? or perhaps it just isn’t interesting enough? Personally I’ve been enjoying it quite a lot.  This week’s chapter continues Shinichi’s tour and observation of Hinaki’s time on a professional movie set. Up to this point, I was thinking Hinaki resonated with the character in Tenmaku’s script. At least that’s how I made sense of why a top level actor would take on an amatuer project. But this chapter completely changed my perspective. Maybe there is some level of resonating with the character, but I think its a feeling of rivalry. She’s been isolated in the world of acting and suddenly a fellow student who is the same age comes along with a masterful script. Of course she is going to jump on that. I think Hinaki saw this is a personal challenge to bring the character to life in the best way possible. Its like she found someone who might be able to understand her. Lets hope the popularity can recover before its too late. 365 Days to the Wedding 110 [END] I’ve been a fan of Tamaki Wakai since The World God Only Knows days and I always believed it was a matter of time before they landed another hit. There was a bakery series that has some loose TWGOK references. Then came King of Idol about a crossdressing male idol trying to get in the industry. Both of those were cancelled after about a year of serialization. Wakaki then moved to the Seinin magazine Big Comic Spirts where he published 365 Days to the Wedding. The story is about a pair of introverts who dread the idea of potentially being transferred to another company branch in a foreign country, so they create a plan to pretend date. Over the course of the story, they come to realize how compatible they are. I had a good time reading the series. It was generally pretty funny and heartfelt from start to finish. Also refreshing to have a romance with a pair of working adults. I would say it ended maybe too soon, but I can’t complain about Wakai finally landing another hit finally after all this time. It will be getting an anime soon. I recommend it! [Final Score: 8/10] Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King After being delayed 3 months from its initial release date, the Black Clover movie was finally released on Netflix this past Friday. Shonen Jump movies often come in 2 different varieties. The most common is a 90 minute self contained story with heavy exposition to make it work in the short run times. They feel like a mini arc out of the manga. However, ever since Strong World a lot of Jump movies add to the existing canon. Black Clover belongs to the later category. The movie has very minimal exposition and quite honestly its all action from start to finish with only a small regroup period in the middle. The story is about the previous Wizard Kings coming back Edo Tensei style and wrecking havoc. They want to hard reset the world because each of them was wronged in some way during their time. Instead of providing extensive backstory for each one, the movie would rather show you the sheer speculate of their power. I thought that allowed the movie to progress at a brisk pace (just as the manga frequently does). A movie medium is a good choice to experience the power of the best in the Black Clover world. At the climax of the film each Wizard King comes to realize that the world is changing for the better, even if incrementally. It heavily reinforces the theme of Asta’s unwavering spirit and how he inspires those around him. This film is very much what a Black Clover movie should be like. I enjoyed it a lot and consider it above average for the Shonen Jump movie genre. Dr. Stone New World (Season 3) 11 [Cour 1 END] I don’t have much to say about this season, but just wanted to put down some quick thoughts. The animation is the same old stiff style, but at least the reaction faces are good. The manga story of this cour is very solid. Senku and the gang are finally on the move thanks to having a ship. First stop is the island where the the space shuttle originally landed. The goal is to confirm the existence of and recover the platinum left behind so they can make an unlimited amount of nitric acid. There is even the promise of learning something about how people turned to stone. Great arc and looking forward to the action packed second cour in October. [Final Score: 7/10] Demon Slayer Swordsmith Village Arc 11 [END] I’ve always had mixed feelings on the Demon Slayer anime. First, I am probably in the minority for not being a fan of Ufotable. I find their heavy computer CG style to be off-putting and boring. Its always flashy for the sake of flashy with minimal personality. However given that, I can still appreciate the work they put into the animation. Secondly, I don’t like how Aniplex splits up a story into its individual arcs as season labels. Demon Slater is particularly formulaic and that’s all the more obvious in this format. I think it loses all momentum when there’s only 11 or so episodes every year. Now for this arc, I remember liking it in the manga. Cool setting, another pair of Hashira to learn about it, and the usual backstories along the way. The arc concludes with Nezuko being able to stand outside in the sun without harmful effects. The anime version was such a slog. They pad out scenes and everything is muddled with Ufotable’s CG flair. In isolation from the rest of the story it offers very little to push the story forward until the very end. Demon Slayer works best when you get in the groove of the series over a long period. Next is the brief next training arc before everyone raids Muzan’s infinity castle. Just give me 4 cour please Ufotable, I’ll even take it split. [Final Score: 6/10]

omg you're so right abt emily and kinning... she'd def be in the same boat as like kaitlyn, in terms of. thinking kinning is dumb or something. but if someone like idk ash or sam (mainly sam) ASSIGNED her a character... then she'd accept it. that or like you said, she would never admit to it dkfjgdg I WAS THINKING HOWEVER. Star Wars Theory I think?
Darth Sidious wanted to make an army of Force sensitive clones and here’s how I know:
If there’s anything I know about Sidious it’s that he loves three things; 1) Kidnapping force sensitive kids to make into dark side soldiers 2) Cloning and 3) He always has a side project
Despite the significance of cloning and clones in the Star Wars universe, there’s only a handful of major cloning operations. One being the clone armies on Kamino, and the other being Palpatine’s basement clone operation on Exegol. Obviously, the Kaminoan cloning scientists Palpatine took from Kamino had some hand in setting up the project on Exegol that was revealed in Rise of Skywalker.
Being generous, setting up the relatively small cloning operation on Exegol couldn’t have taken more than ten years, and even if you were to give the Kaminoans five years to chill, that would still leave twenty seven years that Palpatine had direct control over the Kaminoan scientists and their knowledge. There is no way in my mind that Palpatine would just let that sit. So what was Palpatine doing with the Kaminoan scientists during that time? Cloning guests for his birthday party? Cloning a zillo beast?
I think he was trying to make force sensitive clones.
This draws way back to those episodes in TCW, where Cad Bane is kidnapping all those force sensitive babies for Palpatine’s dark side force army. There’s definitely no way he lets that idea go, I mean he goes on later to make the Inquisitorious. I think he started two plans at the same time, one being the kidnapping plan, and the other being the cloning plan. Palpatine, most likely by proxy, asked the Kaminoans to try and make a force sensitive clone. Which is why the Kaminoans made Omega.
On wookiepedia Omega is listed as “genetically enhanced”, and at the time of writing we as an audience don't know what exactly her enhancement is. It’s obviously not for combat, she has no physical enhancements that we know of, and she ages normally just like Boba Fett. The idea of her being created purely as a lab assistant, that’s frivolous, and why wouldn't the Kaminoans just use a normal clone then? I’m sure making a batch of normal combat grade clones puts less stress on their Jango DNA stores than making a (nearly) unaltered clone, right? I think the Kaminoans genetically altered Omega as a proof of concept in making force sensitive clones. The most likely explanation of how they did this is by finding a way to alter the midi chlorian count in a living being. But it probably hasn’t been done before, and thats most likely why they didn’t give Omega any skill enhancing mutations in her DNA. In an experiment you only change one variable, and that’s what she is, an Experiment. Genetically she’s a completely normal child with an enhanced midi chlorian count.
Added bonus? Palpatine knows the Kaminoans can make chips that control the impulses of clones, potentially giving him access to a remote control army of force sensitives.
I don’t think the “loss” of Omega has discouraged Palpatine from this idea of cloning force sensitive kids, which would be another reason he only saved the scientists and nothing else on Kamino.
TL;DR Palpatine wants to make force sensitive clones because it’s easier than finding and training force sensitives, and Omega is the experiment made to test his theory.
From a story perspective I think this would be a really cool plot thread to explore. It opens the door for a lot of character development for Omega, finding out why she was created (if she doesn’t already know) would be really cool to watch. Also, it would be cool to see the reasons why this project failed, or if it failed. Do the bad batch destroy the facility? Does Nala Se sabotage the research? Does the loss of the Kamino facilities affect the cloning process in any way? Does palpatine cut funding to the project? Idk! I think it would be a cool plot to explore both character and story wise, also the action scenes would be really cool I think.
(I hope this is comprehensible lol)

been thinking on this but my new love and enjoyment of the modern warfare 2 remake is kinda similar to my love for the punch out wii remake
i'll at least give yall the courtesy of a read more and a sort of tl;dr
basically:
cod mw2 2022 🤝 punch out 2009 remakes that got me interested in games i was otherwise not interested in
at it's core, the OG punch outs are super simple. weak kid beats up boxers of stereotypical nationalities. but the remake added a bit more personality to the fighters! speaking in their native language, more spotlight on their fighting quirks, pre-fight movies about the fighters
the game is still the same concept, but with a marginally more fleshed out world!
and then COD, the original games' main focus was the gameplay. other than, one certain infamous mission, i never heard people talk about the story of the game (to the point that until i heard about that one mission, i didn't think there WAS a campaign to it!). it was always about the multiplayer
the mw2 remake i see SO many people talking about the characters and the story! of course most of that is thirst but still a good handful who enjoy the characters non-carnally. plus while i don't have experience with any other cod game campaign, i really developed an interest the story and the interactions between all the characters
this isn't to shit on either franchise! the old PO games have their charm still (as do any arcade n classic console games), and COD obviously is a household name for a reason. that reason for both of them however is their gameplay, which is not a bad thing! not every single game needs the most #deep story on earth
but as someone who never really wore the nostalgia goggles for either series (either bc i wasn't born yet (and had no gaming influence to pick it up once i was) or i was just shy of the target demographic and age upon release), there's a draw for me seeing the curtain get pulled back a bit and show there is a world and characters in these games (even if for PO you gotta use a bit more imagination for it lol)
addition to this tangent: i was gonna flat out say "i'm not one for shooters" but i fucking love splatoon. thinking on it, the creativity of splatoon's 3rd person shooter concept is what drew me in, but i dare argue that the world built around it (all the lore, the general vibe of the universe of that game) is what solidified my staying love of it. the multiplayer is the draw and main reason people get the game, but the story is good too, and you bet your ass i'm hype for whatever the dlc story will bring way down the line
