How’s the Chirurgeon and its brood doing? I notice nobody ever asks about them.

Anyone who has arrived on this side of the Eye of Terror has a history of fratricide. No one, no, not a single one here whose hands are not red with the blood of those who trusted him. Before Isstvan. Before the other Isstvan. Before Nikaea. No matter.

The difference is that some have put this time of betrayed brotherhood behind them - or are constantly trying to do so with stubborn energy - while others have embraced the fact that betrayal will always give birth to more betrayal and made it a principle.

The one as illusory as the other. No one changes the past. Everyone here carries with them what they have done.

How you deal with it … well, that's individual, of course.

Oleander has realised that it is not enough for him to distance himself with caustic sarcasm and work with energetic mania towards a golden future that will certainly never come true. On the contrary. As much as Fabius' strange idealism in this regard fascinates him, he needs the dark thrill that the hunt for his own blood gives him.

Of course, these are all just petty exercises. It's about feeling something. Which, after all these centuries and with Slaanesh's fingers burning in the black remnants of his soul, isn't easy.

And what would be more arousing than killing the one who is his teacher? His role model. His cold mentor.

No. That would be incredibly reckless.

Nevertheless. He is hungry for it.

He can't give in to it.

At least not directly.

But he can play pretend. With something almost as good as the Chief Apothecary himself. That which has spent centuries becoming one with the Pater Mutatis. Which harbours his cunning and his cruelty. And which, like its creator, knows absolutely no scruples.

Oleander grins, shows his pointed teeth and feels alive. In the midst of the deepest darkness beneath Urum, where the ghostly remains of the long-dead Aeldari scream and whisper in the corners of his vision. Amidst the ruins with their creatures without names, who have made their home in decay. Mutants, refuse, remnants.

And the hunters.

The silver hunters. Nothing but limbs and cold. Splinters of one of the most complex brains in the galaxy, brought to life by … yes, what?

The Emperor's Children Apothecary is waiting. Lurks. Not far from here is one of the chambers where the strange non-living creatures have made their home. From where they make their raids and which they guard well.

Striking there is like attacking Fabius himself. Although the Chief Apothecary almost certainly doesn't even know about this place and is only peripherally interested in it.

But for Oleander, that's what he needs.

A soft metallic clatter in the darkness. A handspan-sized version of the chirurgeon shimmies along the ceiling, disappearing into a crack between the stones. Further ahead, a larger, much more complex version of the non-living creature claws at what may once have been a cybernetic arm. Prey? Nesting material? Oleander is interested.

But he's actually on the hunt. He has his swords drawn. Waiting.

Another metallic noise behind him. He grins. They were hunting him, just like he was hunting them. Oh yes, they're clever. Why wouldn't they be? Their creator has given them so much.

"Hello, my little ones!"

Regardless of literally any other post, tumblr staff had literally no reason to take down sfw selfies multiple times, especially since they’re unrelated. Deactivating a blog doesn’t nuke it’s post’s selfies, that’s has to be done on a post-by-post basis.

If this is possible by simply reporting the post/pics, tumblr is still at fault for; letting it happen, allowing the tools for it to happen easily without mitigation, and doing nothing about it.

I just realized something kinda annoying about engstars, they let Ra*bits call Nazuna "Ni-chan", but Eichi is referred to as "Brother Eichi" :/ I wish they'd just stick with one rather than make it confusing (especially for people that only have/use the official translation)

Brother eichi sounds like they're in a monastery i'll never get over that. I hear gongs in my head every time i read it. Im sorry to anyone that only uses the official translation though:( for many reasons i wont get into cuz i think i'll sound annoying if i do. Anyway. Rinne and Niki calling Anzu sister is funny tho, i'll give eng that, it adds a vague 2010s american gay layer to their characters that was definitely not intentional but it's there now

From here on out when making posts about transformers stuff I love I’m not gonna put in a footnote every time about how much other bad stuff there also is in the franchise/fandom. Cause trying to keep posts well rounded and faithful to the entire tf fandom as a whole every single time is so exhausting and also the tf fandom sucks? Additionally it’s too large. Lastly they are nothing to me. They are nothing. Why am I thinking abt the bad parts of fandom all the time when the original goal was to gush about something I really like.

Hi kingjasnah, can I ask why you don't post cosmere stuff very often anymore?

ummm ok sure. tbh the big nebulous reason is that it's not always easy to be a person of color in this space. i don't take a lot of what people say online seriously and I never have (which is probably why ive been on this blog so long), like im secure enough in my offline life to tbh not worry about it and my experience of these books is solely personal. which i recommend to everyone. but sure the last few years have been a little grating like i think there's a reason most of the mutuals of color i had in 2020 (and before) have um moved tf on as they say. im not going to expand on this LOL if you were here you know what i mean

the slightly chiller reason is just very simply that none of the releases since ROW have captured my interest as much? the ssps were cute but whatever. im personally not an era 2 person but i love a lore dump so lost metal was fun for that reason. when the next stormlight preview season starts I plan to be fully back on my bullshit I will be posting I will be keeping up with things I will be theorizing but I'm not here to do that 24/7 in the off season anymore

the concept of a fanfic review blog is outdated and gross. These are free works, they’re not meant to be critiqued as if they are published works.

I think if you take a look at any of my posts I'm not being critical of any of the stories I've posted about, and have said before that I think of my posts as long form rec posts more than reviews. I may point out parts that didn't work for me but it's never done with malice?

Frankly, I think this is a tiktok take that's getting a little away from itself. Yes, I don't think people should be talking negatively about fanfics, but I personally don't think all discussions/reviews are inherently negative.

I don't know I guess. If anyone else has any other takes/advice I'm willing to hear them. I'm sorry you feel this way about this blog. As I say in my info post, if any author is uncomfortable with their story being here I will immediately remove it

man, part of me really wants to type out a whole rant about this shit but I feel like if I do there won't really be a central point and it will just be a bunch of disjointed rambling. so all I'll say is I'm so fucking tired of svt being under a giant corporation. like regardless of opinion about pledis by itself/pre-hybe, at least then we a) knew what we were dealing with and b) had /some/ collective power as fans to influence the company (ex. getting closer MV and svt ring as merch incidents)

all the hybe acquisition did was add 10 more layers of politics onto everything. for every one thing you could argue hybe improved or fixed, there's like 100 other pieces of bullshit that got introduced directly or indirectly. and it's not even a situation of hybe trying to sabotage svt or whatever like some ppl try to fearmonger about, it's literally all just capitalism and trying to please shareholders and make a profit and I'm so fucking tired of it

#this isn't about any one thing btw this feeling has been building since the acquisition was first rumored #and there were a couple things in the last couple months or so that have just brought it all to the surface #but also i feel like im just frustrated bc a lot of this stuff i saw coming like 4 years ago when the acquisition was just a rumor #and like. idk with every passing year feeling vindicated in the worst way possible #bc i wish i was proven wrong #but capitalism always wins so i cant really be surprised #ugh kind of ended up ranting anyway hopefully im making sense #idk might end up deleting this later anyway #bc i like to keep this blog relatively positive for both my own and yalls sake #and idk if i have the energy to answer any asks that might arise from this either #esp since ive been having a stressful week at work too #but ugh we'll see #melia.txt

i assume you're talking about this addition to one of my posts. i don't think this response proved anything i said wrong, though! firstly because about half of it is citing rabid transphobe lundy bancroft's dreadful book, secondly because the response totally misinterprets what i said in a way that's so bad faith (accusing me of saying that lynch mobs are an anti-rape tool--anyone reading this is free to go and look at the post, in which i did not say that) that i don't think it's worth engaging with.

anyways, i blocked her not because of the response, which i would have been happy to just ignore, but because that response immediately started getting reblogged by radfems. whenever that happens, i block them and anyone they're reblogging from, as is sensible internet safety practice for any trans woman.

i love the phrasing on 'wanted to defend rapists' though. yeah just thought id defend some rapists for a laugh innit. literally doing this mitchell and webb joke but playing it completely straight.
