Chapter 13: foundations

A long time coming, but worth it <3 university got in the way of my doodles which is homophobic quite frankly, but then my author friends @t-f-t and @funky-sea-cryptid wrote an absolute banger fic, like absolutely amazing shit that everyone should read, and well. This popped out.

Fuck you (/aff) Tam and Alex for making me have to learn how to draw feet, backgrounds, and fire. But also thank you because I was procrastinating learning for ages and it made me get around to trying!!! <3 i still have a ways to go, but I'm pretty proud of how it turned out for my first time. Mefistofele clips (Teatro la Fenice 2024)

I don't think they're filming this one properly but they did put a bunch of clips on, appropriately for this opera, the hellsite (derogatory), although they're mostly shot from an angle that is not very dynamic. Some of them still look pretty cool! Other choices seem a little more questionable. I think @tuttocenere is completely right that there's some definite inspiration from both the 1989 San Francisco one (with Samuel Ramey) and the 2015 Bayerische Staatsoper one (with Rene Pape). Anyway, here's some links for people who aren't tired of my constant spouting off about this opera (I am not gonna stop doing it but hey).

ugh trying to solidify the visual aesthetic of this screenplay i'm writing for class. how do i show that this is a society that had advanced/futuristic technology but An Event happened and now nothing works properly so they're in a sort of dark age where they're trying to rebuild. so aesthetically it is post-apocalyptic sci-fi but also vaguely victorian/gaslamp fantasy because they've been set back so many years

#what the fuck do i type into pinterest to give me reference illustrations #it's so weird because i've been writing in cyperpunk aspects like neon signs everywhere #the main character has a weirdass mask that casts light on their face #but also. everyone's wearing overcoats and carrying antique weapons because what they used to have doesn't work half the time #it's so hard to wrap my own brain around enough to get it across to a reader who doesn't have access to all the shit going on in my brain #alex’s inane ramblings #oh also there are otherworldly creatures in this world too. a secondary character is a wraith walker meaning he shares a body with a wraith #(if you ever want to hear me ramble about henry and faust i am so happy to)#and main character needs the wraith to act as a guide through a stretch of land with even more weirdass creepy creatures #what the fuck genre am i writing. all of them apparantly
