Harald Moltke (Dec. 14, 1871 - 1960) was a Danish Count, who painted and wrote about the lands and peoples he visited on multiple expeditions to the Arctic around 1900. He was particularly fascinated by the Northern Lights, Aurora Borealis.

Currently exploring Iceland and discovered a fun little Aviation museum in Akureyri. Very small but lots of cool planes.

Harald Moltke (June 14, 1871 - 1960) was a Danish artist and polar explorer. He trained at the Academy in the early 1890s and then participated in several expeditions to Iceland, Northern Finland and Greenland, where he served at the official artist, documenting Northern Light sightings and painting portraits of the local Inuits.
Here is a Northern Light painting from the Iceland expedition (November 11, 1899), sponsored by the Danish Institute of Meteorology which owns the canvas.

Now for some for the planes from the Museum of Ordinary things. Most of these looked handmade with a lot of unique shapes. http://www.smamunasafnid.is/

Akureyri Botanical Garden Akureyri, Iceland
When I first walked through Akureyri, I noticed a complete lack of bees. The next day, I finally found them all: at the Botanical Garden. ^_^ It's a beautiful garden to stroll through… there's a central area with mecanopsis flowers that's lovely to walk through. I chose this little bridge area to draw that some kids were having fun running around.

Iceland honeymoon day 4 - whale watching and waterfall viewing!
I was initially quite reluctant to go whale watching and had told Rob to go on his own, given my unfortunate propensity for motion sickness and terrible whale watching experience as a child. But after checking weather conditions and finding out that the boat fits 200 people, I decided to go and risk it. The Eyjafjörður Fjord is a great feeding area for whales and the morning was so calm that the water was almost mirror-like - hooray! We ended up seeing a family of long finned pilot whales who range from 5.5 - 7 metres in length, and one humpback whale. We also learned lots of interesting facts during the 3 hour journey, like how whales always have to think about breathing (conscious breathing), and humpback whales eat 1.5 - 4 tons of food a day!
After whale watching and embarking on a quick walk around Akureyri city centre, we drove to Godafoss which is a well known waterfall about 40 minutes away. Given the cloudy, drizzling weather that came upon us, I took the opportunity to play with some smooth water pictures 😂.
