Fluffcember Day 11: Lost in the Crowd

“This is stupid,” Ruki muttered under her breath, as they forged their path through the crowd. She meant it. The entire idea of a date was really stupid. Sure, she guessed they were a thing – for almost half a year now – but a date… A date was just such a silly idea.

Again and again Ruki's gaze drifted to the roofs of the tiny booths, trying to find a hint of where Renamon had gone. She was adapt at hiding in the shadows, of course. Leaving Ruki alone. Well, alone with Ryou, of course, who smiled at her.

“I think this is fun,” he replied.

“It's too crowded.” She pulled her scarf up higher, even though it was not even really cold. They were in the middle of the city, where it would rarely ever really get cold.

Really, she could not say why this felt so stupid to her. It was not a bad thing to be seen with a boyfriend in public. Some of her classmates had boyfriends, too. Others just wished they had - and some where whispered to actually have girlfriends. She was a teen, almost 16 now, so dating should be normal, right?

She could feel Ryou's warm hand against her own. Warm and surprisingly dry.

Maybe it was not the date, she reasoned with herself. Maybe it was the market. A Christmas market that was mostly just a way for people to make more money. It should be fine, of course, but still…

Ryou sensed her hesitation and paused. He looked at her, his expression suddenly worried. He, even that sunny boy could look worried from time to time. Looking around he carefully pulled her into a quiet corner between two of the little booths.

“Are you alright?” he offered. “I mean, is it really too crowded for you? We can go elsewhere, if you want.”

She sighed and fought to not evade his gaze. He could be such a stupid idiot and a part of her hated that she kinda loved him. He had somehow wormed his way into her heart, it seemed. With a tiny sigh she tiptoed to lean her forehead against his. “This is Tokyo,” she muttered. “It's always crowded.”

He chuckled at this. “I know.” Of course he did. His home was a stupid little fishing village in the middle of freaking nowhere. The like 300 people living there seemed like nothing compared to the Tokyo metropolitan area.

“It is fine,” she finally said. “For a while. Though I would prefer…” She thought about it. After all she did know he really wanted to try some traditional dating. The evening was still early and tomorrow was a Saturday. “Maybe we can have a look at what the cinema is showing?”

He smiled at this, pressing her hand softly. “We can do that, yes.”

She nodded, feeling thankful. Then she looked back at the crowds of people moving along between those booths. “So, what would be a daty thing to do at this?”

Pressing a kiss into her hair, he thought for a moment. “We could get ourselves something to eat and drink. And then shop for some little knickknacks. I still have to get a present for my dad… And maybe Yamaki-san as well.” He chuckled at the thought of this and Ruki could very well guess, what he was thinking.

“Okay,” she agreed. “And maybe we can get a little something for Namiko as well… And for my mom, of course.” That would need to be probably something cute. Looking up at the roof once more she added in her thoughts: And for Renamon.

Then she allowed Ryou to once more pull her towards the crowd, looking for the best place to get a cute couple dinner.

So i designed an older Ryo because i like him.

Since this is one of the fragments of a person who once was called Akiyama Ryo (more about this soon, i promise you, but for now have this "prologue" here.), this Ryo returned to the Advverse a year after 02 events, had lived in a small city and lost contact with Ken alas. But he got a "digimon partner" after all these years.

He and Ken might one day meet again.
