TaiKouvember Day 4B: Healing
Koushirou didn’t want to dump water all over his best friend, but he couldn’t bear seeing Taichi in such a state. Not his strong, dependable friend.
Once Taichi has bolted awake and locked eyes with Koushirou, he knows he made the right choice. Wet bloodshot eyes return his gaze, quickly looking away once their confusion dissipates.
“…How much did you figure out…” Taichi was the first to speak. It was less of a question and more of a statement, and whether Kou was even meant to hear the quiet words was anyone’s guess.
Koushirou, having planned his course of action swiftly, throws a towel at the drenched boy in front of him.
“I’m sorry Taichi-san, I didn’t want to throw water on you. You looked to be in so much pain, I couldn’t bear to see it.” Koushirou says in an empathetic tone. He too knew all too well the nightmares the Digital World had inflicted upon them.
“It’s fine Kou, I’m sorry you had to see that. No more kimchi before bed, right?” Taichi tries to smile, hiding his pain behind a joke. Koushirou returns the smile but still pushes forward.
“I don’t think kimchi is the only problem here. Would you like to talk about what happened?” Koushirou says this a bit slowly, sitting beside his friend’s bed on the floor. He looks up earnestly at his friend, fully willing to listen.
As much as Taichi wishes he could keep quiet, wishes he could forget this whole thing, wishes he could ignore the redhead in front if him, he simply can’t. Taking a slow, gentle breath, he begins to recount the dream.
Koushirou, for his part, never stops listening. A focused look slowly appears on his face, his mind moving to connect every bit of information in the hopes of helping his aching friend.
By the time Taichi finishes, Koushirou already has him in a hug. Taichi slowly returns it, but still protests.
“I’m still wet Kou, you’re going to-“
“Taichi-san, Agumon is safe.”
“I know, but-“
“He forgave you, right?”
“That hardly-“
“Then why can’t you forgive yourself?”
“Why should I be forgiven?”
Taichi will never forget that stern pained look in Koushirou’s eyes.
“Would Agumon want to hear you say that? What about Sora? Or Hikari? Would any of our friends want to hear that from our leader? I understand this feeling Taichi, of feeling like you’ve hurt your partner in indescribable ways, but you cannot let it control you. Agumon is safe and happy. He is away, but we can still communicate. And he would tell you the same thing as I am right now. You have to forgive yourself. You have to move forward and heal. You have to focus on the *whole* story. Yes he may have Dark Digivolved, but you were carrying the burden of being the only Crest-bearer at a time when we were facing Etemon head on. It was only natural you would make a mistake. A mistake you learned from when you properly Digivolved to save Sora from Datamon!”
“But SkullGreymon could have killed us!”
“And so could have Etemon, but you saved us Taichi-san. And you’ve saved Agumon too. Our Digimon were made for us, but that doesn’t mean the love we have for them or them for us is any less real.”
That last line left Taichi quiet, closing his eyes as his breathing softened. He really did love Agumon, he was like the little brother he never had. He had mistreated Agumon, pushed him into something he wasn’t ready for, and that will always stay with him. That doesn’t mean he has to let it control him either. They were alive and well today after all, all because they could achieve a bond even stronger than it took to achieve MetalGreymon.
“Thank you Koushirou, I’ll try to forgive myself.”
“Good, I’m glad Taichi-san. Now change into a new pair of pajamas, you’re going to catch a cold.”
Taichi could only laugh before throwing his damp nightshirt at the one who made him wet and cold go begin with.

Taishiro x Stars
For @taikouvember 2023 - Day 3: Habits & Change + Day 5: Visible & Invisible Signs of Affection
A/N: I had a really hard time with the prompts, and I think I put all four of them in there in one way or another. How you interpretate it is up to you. Dedicated to my Taishiro-president @seventeenlovesthree, exactly two months after your big double three; happy very belated birthday! Cheers to us and our first and forever conversations about everything stars, dynamics, Astrology and interpretations ;) Hope you like it! (Their Star signs are based on these personal headcanons [1] [2]) Excerpt: He admired that in Koushiro, the focus, but also how the redhead wasn’t easily convinced of things until thoroughly researched by himself. It was Taichi’s personal mission to convince Koushiro of something he wasn’t actually convinced of yet.
Taishiro one-shot | Genre: Blooming romance through Astrology? | Characters: Taichi Yagami (POV) x Koushiro Izumi, Yamato Ishida | Wordcount: 1.320
Tumblr media
Written in the stars
“I’m going to get something to eat. You two want any?” Yamato asked. The two other boys shook their heads no before watching Yamato disappear into the cabin.
It had been a draining day, keeping watch over the younger ones over there in the Digital World. Taichi rolled his shoulders then tilted his head to both sides to crack his neck. He sighed followed by a deep breath in making him relax right away. It was at least nice they were outside, the city miles away and between the trees underneath a starry sky.
Taichi turned his gaze upward. With his eyes he scanned the sky for everything and nothing at the same time.
“You think there will be life there as well? Like we found in the Digital World?” Taichi asked to no one in particular, but fully aware of there being only one person who could hear and answer him.
“There are possibilities and although there is proof, I’m not convinced. Except for the Digital World, I like my information profound and scientifically proven.” Koushiro answered, eyes fixated on the laptop screen placed on the picnic table.
He admired that in Koushiro, the focus, but also how the redhead wasn’t easily convinced of things until thoroughly researched by himself. It was Taichi’s personal mission to convince Koushiro of something he wasn’t actually convinced of yet.
He looked up to the sky once more.
“How about the stars?”
“Stars in itself is a science.”
“Okay,” Taichi muffled a tad annoyed, not satisfied with that answer and its shortness. Sure, Koushiro was busy with things, but he liked him better rambling. “Then what about… star alignment?”
Koushiro looked up, his curiosity sparked, one eyebrow raised. “Star alignment? Perhaps you mean Astrology?”
“Isn’t that a form of science too?”
“Assumably,” Koushiro started off carefully, a form of hesitation seeping through in his soft voice, “in certain cases, maybe. However, it is not what I define as science. I acknowledge it intrigues a lot of people, it can truly be fascinating, but I’d interpret it more like a vague concept using difficult words and sentences in a fairly superficial, sometimes even sketchy way to manipulate people in believing they possess certain personality traits or to describe compatibility between themselves and others that is only based on either personal or shared sentiment.”
Taichi shook his head rapidly, perplexed by the amount of words Koushiro was using in one sentence. It actually didn’t surprise him anymore, still, it was a passion on an for his friend odd topic he hadn’t witnessed in a long time. He watched Koushiro turning back to his task on his laptop.
“I think it’s kinda… romantic.”
He waited for a response, but nothing came.
“I mean, doesn’t it seem pretty common to use horoscopes to describe, you know, attraction between people? I can see the romance in that.”
Koushiro’s eyes travelled away from his screen, his head still lowered. He mumbled. “Romance huh?”
“Yeah.” Taichi internally smirked, thinking he was close to a breakthrough, but acting innocent. “Something about how your Star sign tells you something about yourself and how you might be attracted to others with a compatible Star sign. I know that’s not your kind of soup and yes, it’s rather shady at times, but I don’t know… To me it seems romantic.”
The fingers that had been glued to his laptop’s keyboard left the keys, any form of tapping sound disappearing. Koushiro placed his right hand in front of his mouth, his right elbow resting on his left arm he held in front of his chest. His eyebrows furrowed, showing Taichi his thinking face.
“So I’m not that much into Astrology, but isn’t it more than just your Star sign? Actually, the proper way to put it is Sun sign. Most people only know about that sign the sun was in during the time they were born, but there are more placements to look at to figure out what the stars actually tell you about yourself. You see, everyone is born on a specific time and in a specific place. Depending on that time and place, everyone’s born underneath a slightly different sky exactly above you. And as days, hours and sometimes even minutes or seconds pass, the planets travel through the twelve known Star signs. This means you should not only look into your Sun sign, that’s said to only explain things about your identity and ego, but also your Moon sign, that interprets your emotional state and how you make decisions in times of stress. And then there’s your Rising sign that’s often said to tell you more about yourself than your actual Sun sign. The Rising sign is the sign on the most East of the horizon during your birth. It covers how you prefer to act and how others perceive you, which can differ a lot from your Sun sign. Hence why lots of people don’t see resemblance when reading horoscopes only looking at their Sun sign, because it’s not the way the prefer to act or are perceived by others and often even themselves. Aside from that, there are also the other planets that could explain parts of your personality or life, but I haven’t really read into that yet. You can find a lot on the internet regarding birth charts, if you’re interested, I can see what I can find for you.”
Taichi’s mouth was wide open -if not fully dropped to the ground- in absolute awe of his friend and the knowledge he was spilling like rain pouring down in the depths of Autumn. He blinked his eyes a few times, trying to digest the fast stream of information.
“Wow.”
“What?” Koushiro said, finally relaxing his arms and looking up after deeply thinking with his eyes stuck into an unseeable distance during his rambles. His usually pitch black orbs showed signs of twinkling stars while his cheeks slowly painted themselves with a soft pinkish blush. “Did I say something wrong?”
“I have no clue, really,” Taichi shrugged his shoulders and laughed, taking a seat beside Koushiro. He gently placed one hand on his shoulder, earning him a brighter blush from the readhead. “But for someone who says to not be into Astrology, you know an awful lot about it.”
Taichi was well aware of the softness in his voice, knowing that was what Koushiro could do to him. And he absolutely loved all of that about Koushiro, surprising him with his use of words and how they affected him in the most soft ways.
A blush mirroring Koushiro’s warmed Taichi’s face. A small smile appearing on the corner of his lips.
“Maybe more of the ‘romantic’ type you think you are. Heh, I think that’s rather cute.”
At that, they smiled together through the silence, the only sound visible for Taichi to feel his own heart beating in his chest. He looked up to the sky for one last time, smiling brighter before closing his eyes to take in the fresh air underneath the stars.
“According to your birthday, you’re a Libra, am I right?”
Taichi opened his eyes and looked at Koushiro. “Yes…?”
“No wonder you talk so much about romance,” Koushiro replied with a nod while breaking the newly found eye contact.
A sharp inhale escaped Taichi as he felt the sudden urge to show his affection towards Koushiro in a more physical way. But before he could act, Yamato had returned to the table with some snacks. And so, instead, he cleared his throat.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Nothing.” Was Koushiro’s response, a soft and knowing smile only he could give shaping itself for only Taichi to understand. “We should get back to our work.”
“Right.”
“Christ, Taichi,” came Yamato’s whispering voice next to him. The blonde rolled his eyes. “If you’re not taking that step yourself soon, I’ll be doing it for you.”

@taikouvember Day 4: Trauma & Healing
Missed opportunity #4526173: Taichi, being stuck in the real world, startled by the family PC suddenly going haywire, is AWARE that his best friend is in trouble over there. In the other world. Looking weirdly distant and out of his mind. All that connects the worlds between them is a screen - and probably the subconscious wish to see one another again...
... And I refuse to believe that they've never talked about that. About the psychological damage 72 days of hell have caused in Koushirou's world view, self-image and prioritization. About the dread Taichi had experienced by being unable to act. Let! Them! Talk!

Taikouvember Fanfiction - Day 3: Habits & Change: "Choosing"
Summary: The subject of "choosing" is something that Chosen Children have been facing all their lives in different contexts. Outside of Digital World duties, there are also rather personal questions they have to deal with. Questions that may or may not appear silly to their Digimon partners, because... Choosing someone should come easily, right? But in the end, one specific choice could impact and change Taichi's and Koushirou's lives entirely. Agumon has been wondering about that and confronts them about the topic...
Characters: Taichi Yagami & Tentomon; Koushirou Izumi & Agumon
Main POVs: Taichi Yagami & Agumon respectively
Genre: Cheese
Rating: G
Wordcount: 1635
It had all begun with a – supposedly – very simple observation, followed by an equally simple question. And yet, Taichi hadn’t been able to get it out of his head all day long.
"You really like Koushirou, don't you? Is it true that humans choose partners they stay together with for a lifetime too?"
He wouldn’t have called Agumon naïve for asking something like that. His Digimon partner was just genuinely positive and curious in nature, so it was only logical he would eventually ask about human customs, traditions and the likes.
However, Taichi hadn’t really known what to reply regardless. Even if he had been in a relationship with Koushirou for years by now, even if their monster companions had naturally witnessed them being together for a long time already – it wasn’t that easy. A partnership between a human and a Digimon was an entirely different thing than the bond between two humans that were romantically inclined after all. And up to this point, turning their relationship status into a ‘bond for a lifetime’ hadn’t been a topic between them yet. At least… Not out loud.
Taichi sighed deeply. “Choices, huh…?”
“Whatcha groaning about there, Taichi-han?”
Tentomon suddenly yawned next to him, joining him on the little balcony to stare into the morning sky, while he was contemplating his ‘life choices’.
Taichi found himself yawning as well. It was still early, but he couldn’t have possibly slept any longer. They had been at a conference yesterday and, instead of gate hopping, had decided to stay in a hotel for the night. Tentomon, unlike his human soulmate, was more of an early bird himself as well. He wasn’t always the easiest to chat with – but in this very moment, Taichi felt like he was the only one who could potentially clear up the fogginess inside his head.
“I was… Thinking about a few things.”
“About what?”
“… Well. About Koushirou and me.”
“Eh? What’s the matter there, is everything okay?”
Almost in an instant, Taichi could tell that Tentomon tensed up. Which, obviously, was a very natural reaction to have, as soon as the topic revolved around Koushirou. He could act like a concerned mother hen, which was pretty endearing. And yet… Taichi still struggled to put his thoughts, his feelings into words.
“Yeah, no worries, we’re fine. It’s just…”, Taichi began slowly, pressing his lips together. "Sometimes, I think I don't really understand Koushirou. I mean, I know him, that’s not the issue here, I guess… I just look at him at times and don’t get how all of this here…” He used both hands to make a big gesture in the air. “… Just happened?”
It didn’t make a lot of sense, neither in his head nor hearing it said out loud. And the way Tentomon tilted his head didn’t give off the impression that he had conveyed his point in an understandable fashion. And it was silly. He really did know Koushirou, he knew his quirks, his habits, his preferences and annoyances, how easily he could get lost in things that interested him, how much he adored his adopted family, his friends, the Digimon, how much he hated getting left out of things, how he cared about his passions, the state of the worlds, all of that and even more…
“I, err… Forget it, it doesn’t matter.” Taichi ruffled his own hair roughly, trying to shake these odd insecurities out of his head. Then he felt the gentle nudge of a claw against his arm.
“Ya know, I don't always understand him either”, Tentomon confessed – and it made Taichi blink in astonishment. He hadn’t expected that kind of response right there. The Digimon seemed a little embarrassed, but quickly pulled himself together. “But that was never a problem, right? You and I will always love him unconditionally, so… I believe you are correct, it doesn’t really matter how and why all of this here happened.” Tentomon mimicked the gesture Taichi had made previously by using both claws. “Why we are here, why we have done the things we did. You and Koushirou-han chose to do it together and that is what matters.”
All of the sudden, Taichi felt a stinging in his eyes. Was that the simple answer he had been looking for all along? Even if he didn’t fully understand Koushirou – sometimes didn’t even understand why Koushirou loved him, even though someone as smart as him could probably have done so much better–, it didn’t change the fact that he loved Koushirou. Unconditionally, as Tentomon had put it. Kind of…
“I’m-“
"Well then, Koushirou-han has been up for way too long again”, Tentomon interrupted him and shrugged, already turning around to get back into the hotel room. “So I am sure he’ll be sleeping in, we might have to get him some coffee to wake him up properly..."
Taichi had been on his way to follow him, but hearing that left him frowning.
"Coffee? But he hates coffee, we still have plenty of oolong tea, so we could..."
And then it clicked. That cheeky ladybug…
"Wait a minute. Did you just test me?!"
"... Gotcha”, Tentomon giggled before he flew ahead. “And you say you don't understand him. You're a funny guy sometimes, Taichi-han."
Taichi smiled. Maybe it was that easy after all. Maybe it really was all about choosing. And he would make that same choice again and again. For a lifetime for sure.
~
The night before, a similar conversation had taken place in the hotel room. Agumon had been owed an explanation after all – and, due to experience, he knew that Koushirou was a night owl who would stay up until late to summarize things like conference results properly. He had always been thorough and reliable, Agumon was aware thanks to his own observations – and thanks to the way Taichi always talked about him.
“Hey Koushirou!” Without hesitation, he climbed onto the second chair next to the desk Koushirou was sitting at, luring his attention away from the laptop screen in front of him, which was the only light source in the entire room.
“Oh! Hello Agumon, you’re still awake?”, Koushirou asked, smiling, taking a quick glance at the bed – where Taichi and Tentomon had been sound asleep for a while already.
“Mhmh, I wanted to ask you something.” Agumon followed his eyes for a moment, remembering how Taichi had stumbled over his own words back there. He had appeared to be nervous, almost a little taken aback by his questions… So he was curious if Koushirou would be the same.
“Sure, what is on your mind?”
“Did you always know that you would choose Taichi?”
While he didn’t look as flabbergasted as Taichi did, Agumon could still tell that Koushirou’s eyes widened in surprise.
“What… Exactly do you mean by that…?”
"I never understood why or how Taichi and I were meant to be, but I never cared about that. I just knew that he was my partner and that was all that mattered to me. It was always right that way, even when… When we were apart. We found each other again and I just… I just know we will be together forever from now on!”, Agumon elaborated excitedly, watching Koushirou nod in response. Tentomon had told him about how hard Koushirou and Taichi had worked to restore their bond, how many hours, days, weeks, months had passed and he felt an immense wave of thankfulness and fondness for that. “I wanted to ask Taichi if it’s the same between humans, but… He could not explain it to me, he was talking about stuff like ‘marriage’ and how ‘rings’ are a thing humans exchange to show that they belong together...”
Finishing his story, he noticed how Koushirou was flinching a bit. And even through the darkness, he was sure to recognize a faint blush on his cheeks.
“Well, yes, humans do have traditions that confirm and testify their bond to be official. The actual customs vary from culture and country, there are quite some differences in terms of laws, but… In sum, it’s true that there usually is a conscious process to choose a long-term partner. Why are you interested in that?”
As always, Koushirou seemed rather enthusiastic when he got the chance to explain something and Agumon really valued that about him. Even if he used more complicated words...
“I was wondering… Does there have to be a reason for anyone to find one another? Taichi and I were meant to be, someone chose us… But we also chose to be there for each other. Is that the same for you and Taichi? You just... Found each other? Did you choose each other for yourselves too...?"
And this time, Koushirou remained silent for a bit. Similarly to Taichi before, he seemed lost in thought, contemplating the meaning of what he just heard. Until his eyes shifted back to the bed, a longing expression plastered on his face – as far as Agumon could tell.
“Koushirou?”
“… I guess that is a very accurate description for it.”
“Yeah? The way Taichi talked about ‘rings’ sounded like they were some kind of digivice or crest, something very personal that connects two people with each other… Is that true too?”
The – very much intensifying – blush was accompanied by a quiet chuckle, turning into a soft smile.
“I’d say it’s a valid comparison if you frame it like that, yes.”
Hearing that made Agumon grin brightly as well, a warmth spreading in his chest. He wanted nothing more than for Taichi to be happy – he himself had found happiness by reuniting with him after all. And Koushirou confirming his own thoughts could only mean that a ring exchange would eventually ensure that happiness. It was only a question of time.

Well, I wasn't able to find the time to continue koushirou week, but secretly that's because i was saving my energy for taikouvember :]
Of course, I'm starting a day late, but what can ya do...
anyway, this is for the Day 1 prompt, Canon / AU I've wanted to draw something for this scene & those messages since I watched Kizuna... These two are so funny. I of course love how well they get along, but I also always appreciated how both Taichi and Koushirou can be stubborn & get angry with eachother over silly things, but they're always quick to get over it and patch things up!
Also Taichi's emoji usage makes me laugh
