In Digimon Tamers, entering into the Digital World is different from Digimon Adventure series. The portal leads to the dimension full of numbers and mathematical symbols. The math dimension is too bright for any human that they have to use their goggles or sunglasses to protect their eyes. Since the dimension is too bright for Juri/Jeri, Hirokazu/Kazu and Kenta, the two tamers - Ruki/Rika and Takato help their friends to move through the math dimension.

The cool girls! A long time ago I tried drawing a Ruki fanart, but I wasn't skilled enough to portray her with the stylization I really wanted to make so this time I did it again, but with Renamon in the mix!

At the time I hadn't watched XW yet, and now I have a better grasp about how some of the animators managed to make those designs “more anime”

So you're telling me, that Ruki's mom is only 2 years older than Takato's teacher?

There's also how Ruki's grandma is actually only 49, meaning she became a grandma at age 39.

The parents of the other Tamers characters seem to have had them in their 20s, with the latest being Takato's dad who was 31 when Takato was born while his mom was 25.

What we learned today?

That Ruki's mom... is a badass woman for managing to raise a daughter while still being so young. And she seems to be the sole breadwinner of the family too? (⁠⊙⁠_⁠◎⁠)

I was just playing around with designing and drawing and drew these flip phone case designs inspired by Digimon Tamers !

I probably won't get these made for a while, most likely until I finish with my Frontier D-tector phone cases (and only if those manage to sell ㅠㅠ), but regardless I'm really hoping to get these made in the future ! (Tamers is my favorite season haha)

I was actually thinking of drawing a cute little icon of each Tamers' Digimon in place of Calumon's symbol on the back, but I just drew in Calumon's symbol as a placeholder for now.

What do you guys think ? Would anyone be interested ? Haha

I was dumb and forgot to change the time limit of the poll I put yesterday ;w; It was meant to last a week but well, this things happen I guess XD so, let’s try this again and sorry for the copy+paste:

After looking for a few old illustrations over my blogs (for archive purpuses since my old computers often die and can’t have my files back OTL), I arrived at the good memories that was the “askkiriha” blog I once ran but eventually forgot about orz

Now days I’m even more busy than when I was a teen with somehow free time to run silly blogs but I thought, wouldn’t it be nice to go back there?

Would you guys be interested in the askkiriha revival? Or should I listen my stupid oshi feelings and make one for Ruki :D

(This is a post I wanted to make ever since @neorukix brought it up, and then I forgot to get around to it until today. Sorry!)

At the end of Tamers episode 18, Ruki compliments Renamon with the comment "you're really beautiful under the moonlight." While it’s never been confirmed or denied, it’s sometimes been speculated that Ruki might be referencing the infamous phrase “the moon is beautiful tonight” (tsuki ga kirei desu ne). According to popular urban legend, the Meiji-era writer Natsume Souseki, who worked as an English teacher, found one of his students trying to translate the English “I love you” as the very blunt and literal “ware kimi wo aisu.” Natsume rejected the translation, saying that Japanese people wouldn’t say something like that, and suggested the more indirect “the moon is beautiful tonight” as a more “Japanese-like” expression of feelings of love.

(In fact, this story is probably apocryphal; there are no reliable sources that back it up, and it was likely just made up to make Natsume come off as an eccentric forward-thinker. So while referencing this story is a popular trope in Japanese fiction, a lot of actual Japanese people don’t agree with this concept at all and might take issue if you try to apply it too hard in real life, so be careful with this lest you come off as stereotyping people.)

If you had to ask me, I’m not personally sure whether this is meant as a reference; it’s a popular trope for sure, but its use as a trope usually involves closer wording to the original quote, and Ruki’s statement about Renamon looking “beautiful” also concretely ties into Ruki’s troubles with her mother forcing her into modeling earlier in the episode. (This is a Yoshimura-written episode, so “standards of beauty forced on girls and women” being a major point here is perfectly in line with her usual.) Moreover, Ruki tosses this line out so casually that I can’t say I fully believe she’s invoking a classic literary urban legend here, at least not intentionally so. However, fiction wouldn’t be fiction without allowing for multiple readings at once, so if you do take it as a reference, you could also read it as Ruki trying to express the complicated feelings of gratitude and love for her partner and honorary family member (aisu is not a strictly romantic word!), but resorting to this oblique way of doing so due to her inability to be straightforward.

You know, the way the families work in Tamers seems to also be reflected in the way they treat their partners.

Takato has very loving parents who spoil him, so he treats Guilmon very much the same at the beginning of the anime.

Shiuchon gets on Jenrya's nerves a lot, but they both love each other as siblings. We've seen Shiuchon being affectionate with Terriermon and thus annoy him to no ends. And while we haven't seen a lot of it, Jenrya seems to give the same responsible older-brother treatment towards Lopmon if the Locomon movie is any indication.

Ruki's family has some hiccups, but over the course of the series they get better. She originally treats Renamon like distant co-worker, but eventually her close relationship with Renamon pushes her to open up to her mom as well. It's a reverse situation to the other two, but it kinda counts I guess.

So does this mean Ai and Makoto's parents are arguing for custody? Who knows, right?

Ryo keeping Cyberdramon on a leash is... you know what, his dad might just do it so he won't disappear again.

As for Juri...

...

...now, I don't wanna say the way Juri treats Leomon like a potential husband is reflective of her family life. Her family isn't that messed up (⁠￣⁠ヘ⁠￣⁠;⁠)

But it's worth noting that originally before production Juri was supposed to be a girl called Mishio who lives with her parents in the red light district.

That aside, during the Locomon movie, we can see Juri wiping cake away from Culumon's cheek in a very motherly way. Because this is after the anime, if we assume her relationship with her dad and especially her stepmom has gotten better, this fits well into this little no-basis headcanon of ours (⁠ ⁠ꈍ⁠ᴗ⁠ꈍ⁠)
