Me: *sprinting into class late* Sorry! I've had a killer migrane and fainted twice yesterday, so last night and this morning have been all out of wack.

Prof: ...Wait you fainted yesterday? Twice?!

Me: Yeah, one of them was in the middle of class even.

Classmate, who was sitting with me yesterday: When? How didn't anyone notice?

Me: Yeah, when I was in cadets I got in trouble for fainting, so I learned how to do so without drawing any attention. Sometimes I don't even fall over anymore.

i think it's funny that people act like being in the army is the most cishet macho thing .

in like year 10 of secondary school (so before i dropped out) my main friend group was basically half of the cadets. we had like. 3 or 4 air cadets and an army cadet (we didn't have any sea cadets because FUCK sea cadets)

and they were all the gayest mother fuckers i have ever met. like holy shit i havent seen queerer people since.

they also tried to get me to join air cadets but i never got round to it

Page 2. ---- Air Cadets of the Kingston Kiwanis Squadron No. 58 have been provided with the R.C.A.F. fighter plane pictured above for use in acquiring first hand information on the working and assembly of a modern airplane. Wings of the plane have been lodged in Victoria School and the fuselage has been stored until the cadets return from their week's training at No. 31 SF.T.S., Norman Rogers Airdrome, which commences next Monday. The plane was brought by truck from St. Thomas the latter part of June. R.A.F. instructors from the Norman Rogers Airdrome will give instructional work on its operation when regular Air Cadet classes are resumed after next week's training period.

Ok you know what, the level of lesbianism of this part of Higher Further Faster (Palmer 2019) deserves its own post. Also, my post with the front cover is taking off but just look at the illustration of Maria on the back cover:

So. This is the emotional climax of the official Captain Marvel tie-in prequel novel:

That’s right, an angsty Danbeau love confession is the core of Carol Danvers’s backstory! Marvel published this!

And then, Carol gets in an anxiety spiral about not deserving Maria:

But not too long after, they reconcile, reiterating their love in a calmer moment:

Oh yeah, and they were roommates.

And this! This is the turning point of Carol’s character arc!

This is what defines her character for the final chapters: the knowledge that she’s found someone who makes her feel safe and loved and happy. Hello?!

And they don’t even no-homo it by calling themselves sisters until like 3 chapters later. This book makes me unhinged and I’m probably gonna write an essay about it but like. My god. This part is just another level.
