ik it’s been a while since we’ve talked about nerdy bkg but i can’t stop thinking about affectionately bullying him. like, befriending ashido in some gen ed class, and through her, meeting her childhood friend bakugou. you don’t see him much because he’s in some smarty pants major and doesn’t much like parties, but you recognize him when you pass his table at the library, so you stop. and he’s not much of a conversationalist but he’s cute so you take out your own books to study across from him. and hey, maybe his studious energy will spread to you. it doesn’t. and after like 15 minutes, you’re chatting again. about his friends, how you thought he wasn’t real until you met him. you suggest he comes out to the bars this weekend and he shrugs it off immediately saying he has a big final on monday. without really thinking about it, you’d reached out and smoothed your thumb over his brow and tease, “you’re so serious. ‘s gonna give you wrinkles.” and you watch as he goes very still and the tips of his ears turn pink. and then, he’s gruffly saying, “shouldn’t you be workin on that big psych essay mina’s been bitchin about?”

but what you don’t see is bakugou rereading the same sentence a dozen times because you’ve completely derailed his train of thought. you don’t know that later, when he’s complaining to mina about how her “annoying friend from class was makin fun of me.” and how he just point blank refused to accept mina’s response that it wasn’t mocking, “it was flirting, dummy.”
