Leah is putting EVERYTHING into her Annabeth and i love her for it. her little expressions, her demeanor, even her stance. she's playing 4D chess and she's already predicted the outcome. she's lived a 100 years in a 12 year old body. her effortless banter with Percy, her single raised eyebrow. her taking the lead, her vocal intonation implying her knowledge. "game on." "im sorry to hear it." "so we're gonna need a new plan." she was made for this role

୨୧ . 𝐌𝐘 𝐅𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐋𝐎𝐀 𝐐𝐔𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒
you need to first believe in order to see.
you’re not "creating" a state of consciousness because they all exist within you awaiting occupancy. the means are not up to you to determine. you're only asked to accept it by claiming yourself to be via I AM.
the outside world will mold to you because it is the only thing it is able to do.
you always need to keep in mind that you don’t imagine in order to change the 3d and get instant results, but ONLY to accept that you have it in the 4d.
doubt is a reflection of your disbelief in yourself.
we are the creators of our own lives and thus, the only validation we need comes from within.
to persist is to continue being how you’ve accepted to be within, despite your outer world, by trusting what you’ve just accepted
whatever you accept to be true has to be physically projected. the mental acts you perform in your mind predict the appearance of the outer world.

Even after 2 years I still see people getting a little confused over what happens in Godzilla Singular point, so I thought I’d explain some stuff.
Archetype is obviously a fictional material, but one made using our current understanding of the universe, which means that the existence of something with pretty similar properties isn’t exactly something we can confidently say doesn’t exist.
It’s specifically a 4 or 5 dimensional particle, which means it occupies length, width, height, and time. This is why there’s a lot of “time” stuff going on in the series. Materials made from it pull energy (electrons or photons… it’s not exactly specified I don’t think) from either the past or future to the present.
However, archetype also punches holes to other universes like wormholes punch through space between 2 locations, like a stapler connecting paper. So areas occupied by archetype particles punch through universes and time; I.E. the “Singular Points”. This is what likely makes it slightly 5D.
This means that the kaiju in the show are animals that at least partially occupy 4D and 5D space and likely originate from different universes, and need archetype to power their bodies. They also likely occupy multiple universes at once and some can manipulate archetype to an extent, like Anguirus looking through forth dimensional space to predict bullet projectory. Their 3 dimensional forms are, or at least partially are, “shadows” cast by their higher dimensional bodies like our 3 dimensional bodies cast 2D shadows.
Godzilla itself is a 5D animal with so much mastery over archetype that it functions like the supercomputer in the show. Pulling particles from the past and the future to fuel its atomic breath, existing in hundreds of universes at once, using archetype to “re-roll” whenever it makes a mistake and re-manifesting at another place and time in the multiverse, and merging and distorting universes intersecting within the red dust cloud he occupies to suit his gluttonous wants.
The Orthogonal Diagonalizer works by taking away the higher dimensional properties of archetype and forcing it into a 3D existence.
So basically the plot of Godzilla Singular Point is about autistic nerds stopping a greedy 5th dimensional theropod from fucking up the multiverse by neutralizing its pop rocks.

One of the essays sitting and percolating in my brain is about how much (and more importantly WHY) I loathe the idea of Hard vs. Soft magic systems and how terribly these concepts are for thinking about magicbuilding.
While also in no way objecting to Sanderson's 3 Laws of Magic which I actually love because they are so clever and usable. I'm all for them.
It's a dialectic. Sue me. I just don't think that the 3 laws actually necessitate the hardness scale of magic. At all. And in some ways the two ideas actively work against each other.
I just know it is a HUGE essay, involving a lot of work and data gathering. And I feel like I can't be bothered to expend that much effort within even the medium term. So... it just kind of sits there and occasionally I'll run into something that reminds me: oh, yeah, I kinda wanna do that. Like, this is pretty good but it would be ten times as brilliant if you weren't hampered by the idea of a hardness scale of magic.
I ran into somebody today trying to talk about a pyramid of magic users that was partly dependent on this idea of a chart of Magic Hardness on the Y axis and Diversity of Magical Expression on the X axis. For four fundamental quadrants of Hard Diverse, Hard Same, Soft Diverse, and Soft Same. The last of which he couldn't think of any examples of and I'm just sitting here thinking: yeah, because one of your axes is wrong and its getting in the way of you saying something brilliant.
Think instead of several diversities: Sources of Magic, Types of Magic, Expressions of Magic, and User Variability as a 4D model. Each converging at 0, no magic. Each going to ∞, meaning each kind is entirely individual to the caster and is measured by the number of casters instead of the number of magics. And useful numbers for fiction falling somewhere in the relatively low range of numbers.
So, for the favorite Hard Magic (grumble) example, AtlA, you would have 1 source of magic: Chi. 5 types of magic: Water, Earth, Fire, Air, and Spirit. Then 2 basic expressions of magic: Elemental Control and Spiritual Control. And finally a relatively low (numbers aren't very useful but expectations are) amount of user variability in that expression. This can be shown to the audience with any level of clarity, without altering the system itself.
For the favorite Soft Magic (still grumbling) example, LotR, you would have an unknown number of sources of magic because it is never really delved into. However, it is possible to count what actually appears, and that is a low number, with some possible overlap: There's magic in the race you belong to, there's magic in the divine plan, there's magic in words and speech, there's magic in things sublimely crafted, there's magic in your intent, there's magic in birthright (not your race but your family lineage), there's magic in herb-lore and nature, there's magic in corruption, and there's magic in knowing/wisdom. It is possible to divide all those into separate categories or to unify all those into the singular Divine Will with many offshoots. The types of magic, again, are not enumerated and delved into but can be counted. There seems to be mostly the use of (un)natural phenomenon, communication/command/seduction, knowing/wisdom/fortune telling/working with fate, crafting things to do magic for you, necromancy/corruption, and oaths. Again there is overlap or not depending on opinion since the story doesn't delve into it. And user variability is fairly high in that it isn't particularly useful to know what one magic user can do in order to predict what another magic user can do. And this is really what makes it a "soft system" that whatever rules underlie the system are not only not communicated to the reader directly but aren't communicated in such a way that the underlying system is deducible. It is entirely possible to make a "Hard Magic System" (just ugh) that would produce exactly what we see in LotR. What makes it soft is the information we get, not the system itself.
And that really is my basic issue with Hard/Soft Magic as an idea. It conflates multiple different bits of information into a single bit that isn't dictated by any one of the original bits.
The Idea of Hard vs. Soft Magic relies on the idea that the perception of the Magic System is the same in the Imagination of the Author, their Expectations of the Audience and that Audience's Reception, their intentions, the Encoded piece of Art - the text itself, the Consensus Audience's Interpretations, the Individual Audience's Interpretations, AND the cultural interpretation of story as applied to this whole mess.
Tumblr media
While literally none of that has to be true.
It is (accidentally?) doing the precision opposite of what the Artist Philosophy does at its worst. It is elevating the audience experience of Story over every other factor. It is essentially saying that every other position on the map must accept "my" interpretation and play to it. It's flipping the script - ex: men are good so women are bad but now we've had our glorious revolution so now women are good so men are bad - instead of actually addressing the problem inherent in the script - one gender is portrayed as superior to another.
BUT that's like two examples out of... hundreds? Thousands? Per year! >_<
Two texts aren't a sufficient corpus of material to talk about these sorts of things. Neither is one figure to illustrate the issue out of one textbook. And I just DON'T want to deal with that level of work. Especially since no one will really particularly care. And the minority that would be interested are generally pretty happy with the Hard / Soft divide because they're the readers whose views are being reflected. So...
:/
No point.
And this is why I shouldn't write essays anyway. I just wrote an essay about NOT writing an essay >_< I have issues >_< it's just... so much thought on how to do things on the back end (writing and worldbuilding advice) which is growing excellently right now would be so much better without that Hard-Soft conceit which is just... *sigh* an entire essay on why it is an issue. With half probably devoted to soothing egos and rough reactions of 'but it works for me.' Which is the point. The entire point.
And ugh.
And I'm probably only putting work into this in this way here so I won't feel the need to lash out at my sister quite so intensely. Again >_< I have issues.
And thanks for reading / sorry for writing. You know. Me and essays :/

Prospera is subject to a lot of fan theories and predictions that seem too focused on the idea of her being crazy or a master manipulator, ignoring a lot of logic in the process.
"Prospera took an orphan girl and changed her face to match Eri" was one of the big theories for Suletta's origin, which didn't account for the fact that she had no reason to pull off that kind of deception. Most of the cast didn't know who Eri was and most of the people who did were dead. Anyone who was interested in where Eri went could simply be told that she died, which was 90% true anyway.
"Prospera will now be able to manipulate Suletta more than ever" was perhaps the most common statement in the aftermath of episode 17, which ignored the fact that the reason Miorine betrayed Suletta was because Prospera promised to leave her alone. Prospera's main goal is Quiet Zero and she not only didn't need Suletta anymore, but she certainly wouldn't want to risk Miorine's vital participation in it by going back on her word.
And "Prospera is planning to sabotage Miorine's attempt to negotiate peace by making Aeriel go berserk" is now a common prediction for what's coming up next, which once again ignores the fact that Miorine's presidency is vital to her plan, and she has no reason to backstab her like that. Something may indeed go horribly wrong with Miorine's plan but it's probably not gonna be because of Prospera unless there's more layers to the 4D chess at work.

PICK ‘N’ GIXX: 1990 Suzuki GSX-R 7/11 by London-based design engineer and uni lecturer Diggory “Digs” Rush (@torques_moto) — a GSX-R750 Slingshot frame with an air/oil-cooled 1100 engine! Digs 3D-scanned parts at University College London, utilized software such as Solidworks and Cinema 4D to build the bike virtually, ran Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and motion studies, and turned out an arsenal of billet aluminum parts on his 1920s IXL line-shaft lathe and small bench-top mill, working out of a council garage. Says Digs of the ride: “Aggressive and unforgiving, but predictable. Ultimately it’s very adjustable with 150mm ride height adjustment in the rear alone to make it properly nosey. Also a load of different linkage plates that can be swapped in to change the ratio…” With builder thanks / inspiration from @haxchmoto @stickys_speed_shop @ziggymoto @oldskoolsuzuki.info. My favorite bizarro Swiftie take on TTPD has been, "Now, when her audience is the biggest it's ever been, she could have made an easily digestible album that everyone would get, but it's actually so brave of her to do this instead." 🧐
it’s kind of wild to see so many people defending it being like “no guys she made it bad on PURPOSE” like the mental gymnastics here… she did not do that haha.
like let’s be so fr right now. the reason it’s so — the way it is — is because 1) she wanted to churn out as many songs as possible to break her own streaming record (bc low key she’s addicted to career success as her main form of validation following the breakdown of so many of her personal relationships… but that’s a bigger convo) and 2) she’s been pretty much unabashedly praised for everything she puts out for the last 3 years so she genuinely thinks she shits gold and doesn’t have to try that hard anymore
like it’s pretty obvious what’s happening here 😭 we don’t have to pretend she’s playing 4d chess with us. she released a mediocre album. it’s fine. anyone who listened to midnights objectively could have predicted this. it’s not that deep

Argylle (2024)
⭐️⭐️.5
Tumblr media
So, I expected a spy thriller. And it was. But it wasn’t so much James Bond as it was Maxwell Smart. If Smart had semi-predictable twists and some wickedly cool fight scenes. My friend and I sat in the 4D chairs for the first time at this show, and let me tell you, they were only worth it for the fight scenes.
Watch this if you:
enjoy cheesy dialogue, I did expect a darker reality but it very much mirrored the Argylle-verse
find comfort in the fact that Henry Cavill and John Cena are partners and Partners TM in this film
can get past the odd references to Apple (guess who’s studio helped out with this movie)
Similar titles:
Get Smart (1965-1970) (what? did you think I meant the Steve Carrell version? don’t worry)

Lockheed Martin receives US$ 151.4 million to manufacture F-16 Block 70 fighters for Bulgaria 🇧🇬
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 09/15/2023 - 1:00 p.m. in Military
The Pentagon granted Lockheed Martin a contract valued at $151.4 million for the production of the eight F-16 Block 70 fighters in Bulgaria.
The work will be carried out in Fort Worth, Texas; and Greenville, South Carolina, scheduled for completion on September 30, 2027.
In 2019, Bulgaria started an order for eight units of this hunting model and promptly made a 100% advance payment. Moving forward to 2022, the Bulgarian Parliament gave the green light to the acquisition of eight additional fighters, thus increasing the total acquisition to 16 F-16 fighter jets.
Industry experts predict that it will be a decade-long process for Bulgaria to gradually take possession of all these aircraft.
These brand new F-16s are prepared to replace 11 old Soviet MiG-29UB. The initial Lockheed Martin F-16 Block 70 fighter, adapted to the needs of Bulgaria, is expected to leave the production line and arrive in the country in 2025.

So... This is what was supposed to be for mayblade day 14, a Nasuverse AU
But... Of course, it's not finished, nor is this what I intended for the prompt days ago. I'm just gonna explain what's the deal of these sketches is. It's going to be pretty long, so bear with me.
Tumblr media
3rd Magic: Heaven's Feel
If you know Fate/Stay Night, this is the magic that lets people summons servants. The power to record someone's life and use it for a function that is close to "revive the dead." Of course, that doesn't happen. Because if the summoner is dead, the summoned entity will also die.
If you know Fate/Grand Order, then you know how screwed that world is. So, in order for that to not happen in this AU, I chose Gingka to guard the Holy Grail since I know he'll use it either for good or to get unlimited burgers. The thing behind him is the Holy Grail.
Tumblr media
2nd magic: Operation of Parallel Worlds
Do you guys headcanon that Ryuga can teleport? Yeah, me too. And that is why I chose the 2nd magic for him. Aside from travelling through another world/universe, he can also travel through time.
I thought it was funny when, after the event of Fury/4D, he teleports somewhere and ends back in the past to heal his wounds, so he just sleep the entire time until Douji finds him again. Like stucking in a time loop, but he either gets better as a person or not (anime path or manga path, you choose).
Tumblr media
4th magic: Laplace's Demon
Or basically the magic that hides itself. Tbh, there isn't much known about this magic (kinda fits since we don't know who the hell is Chris lol)
Some things I get from this magic are that it ties heavily to the present time, and it can fool reality. It also can predict past and future through observing vectors (or possibilities, if you will)
And that's it.
Q: Wait, where is Kyoya?
A: Oh don't worry, I don't forget about him.
The thing is, I have no idea what magic that I should give to Kyoya. 1st magic is out of the question, no one is going to use that, and it doesn't fit him anyway.
5th magic is about cause and effect and time (kinda). Idk how to tie it to him. And Idk if he's that reckless to fast forward the universe ending. Or maybe he is?
6th magic is about everlasting torture (kinda). I don't think Kyoya is that sadistic, but hey, someone can prove me wrong.
7th magic is about the universe. Still can't tie it to Kyoya. What is about him that connects to the universe???
Lastly, will I ever write about this? The answer is leaning towards no. Maybe not in narrative, at least.

is it the feeling or the desire?
Tumblr media
I've been reading lots and lots of posts here and there, in tumblr, twitter everywhere searching for an answer and has finally discovered what i think is the answer
so what is it that you actually yearns for ? is it the desire u r manifesting or the satisfactory feeling that is received after manifesting your desire?
I'd say it is the feeling.
Now i'm pretty sure you've seen this same debate by 100 different bloggers with 100 different answers, and as predictable and dull as it sounds I too would answer that it is the feeling that you long for.
I know you are probably tiredddd of hearing this again nd again, i was too once. I was confused too as to why loabloggers kept pushing this statement.
I kept questioning what it really means until I read these two wonderful posts. and it clicked
Think of it like this,
you want cake, u buy cake
now you have lot of cakes, you get to eat cake everyday. Eventually won't you get tired of it?
So was it the desire (cake in this case) that u really wanted or did you just enjoy the feeling u got after knowing u got what u wanted?
Another scenario,
It's a sunny day, Mark is hot ( not the sexy typa hot the sweating kind of hot ykyk?) ( he might be sexy hot too idk ). he turns on the fan. Mark is happy
Few hours has passed. It is freezing now, Mark is shivering. So he turns off the fan.
So if fan was the thing that he yearned for, why did he turn it off? Cause it is not the fan but the feeling of content that he wanted.
and how does that correlate with manifesting, you may ask?
same logic, now as you may already know 4d is our imagination and where every belief, assumption and thought lies on. While in 3d lies our sensory, visionary, auditory etc feelings(?).
We think what we want is the desire, but deep down it is the feeling of satisfaction that we lacks.
This is why we have such hard time manifesting, it's cause we keep waiting till i appears in our 3d, but if our inner man too is waiting for it to appear how will it come to u?'
I don't think lot of people understand how powerful our imagination is, you can look at a picture of a food and feel how it tastes, you can imagine something happy happening and feel the serotonin kicking innn vice versaa
Now how do I apply this info to manifesting?
understand that all you need to do is to accept that your manifestation is done. this wont click immediately for most of you im pretty sure, and im not blaming u at all. but keep on rereading everything that's mentioned. not only this, think of scenarios on your own and try to apply this logic to them. you'd soon understand.
go crazy with the fulfilled feeling in your imagination, and persist on it. it might be hard at first, you'll catch yourself wavering and giving up. But with consistent practice and discipline it won't be impossible.
I promise I'd make a better explanation post than this again but for that I need to finish my states post that I've been working on so
As always I feel like I'm obligated to mention that just because this is what i believe, I'm in no way asking you to follow this to, at the end everything roots down to ur assumptions...

Watched absolution because I saw a certain spoiler and was intrigued, loooonggg post of spoilers and thoughts under the cut
Are we are really surprised the supercop zealot is bioware's canon divine? lmao.
I generally liked the cast of characters quite a lot, Roland Lacklon and Qwydion most of all, Miriam is cool too, just not top spot for me. she's like. Number 4 on my list. Of surviving characters that is.
Rip Fairbanks. Made the rookie Ser Jory mistake of mentioning his loving wife more than once within the intro of the series. You will be missed.
The writers really said make them think we will finally switch up the Mage Is Always The 'Traitor' reveals (that aren't even true for games 1 and 2 but the joke is marketable so who cares for accuracy right) but then just do the same thing again. I have a feeling they think they are playing 4d chess when really it's just predictable.
The action was well executed and I liked the romance with Roland and Lacklon, it was cute :)
The show handled Tevinter better than I expected but my expectations were subterranean so that doesn't mean much.
Still don't care for the way bioware deals with blood magic. With Dorian we finally had a smart opinion on it [that the writers didn't try to stamp out or treat as stupid, sorry Merrill]- that it's simply a tool as long as there's no victims, but here we backpedal again into the narrative going 'anyone that even THINKS of blood magic is and always will be evil full stop'. Yes we're talking about a Magister here i'm not defending Rezaren in specific I'm just weary of how they'll treat it going forward.
Speaking of the guy, he was fine as a villain. pretty decent portrayal of a guy whose position of power deludes him into thinking his goal is noble and righteous no matter what, even to the detriment of the people he's supposedly trying to help, because well. He never saw them as people in the first place. 'Family' maybe, whatever that's supposed to mean to him, but still property. Things he gets to do whatever he wants to do with.
Miriam using his harrowing as an example of a moment he chose not to defend her or her brother though, is kinda meh. Bc girl, he was actively trying and failing not to get possessed, his mother's the one to blame for that specific instance and you KNOW it, I know we had to see that scene for exposition but i'm peeved jdshfjd I bet there were maaany more backstory examples of him being shit to choose from anyhow.
There was an Attempt at moral grayness at least two times in the show, with Tassia and Hira, and they are both... interesting.
Tassia imo does it better, as as the knight commander she can be safely [and firmly] put in the villain box, but the added levels of grey with her caring for her people's safety, opposing the venatori etc make her interesting to watch in a way where I may not be rooting for her but I don't want her to die either, yanno? She's a bit like if Aveline were an anti-villain, and actually decently well written at that. She gets spot 5 of my list.
Now Hira. Is a prisoner of that good ol Mage Betrayal Russian Roulette. I'd seen a small spoiler about her being up to no good before watching, but even without that, when Fairbanks stabbed her I could just SNIFF that red herring. Again, the writers may think they're playing 4d chess but I know not making a mage (or more) the villain, is to them what apples are to doctors. Then her motivation is just. Not convincing to me. Her family was influential tevinters that wanted to improve conditions for the oppressed, then they were killed and/or ran out the country by the venatori for it. so... she jumps right to ethnic cleansing as the solution?
(And I do mean right to it. She did go to the inquisition first but that's what she wanted to get out of it.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Collateral damage is a funny way of referring to innocent people's lives queen!
Tumblr media
Idk something about that feels familiar. Betrayal, a mage that jumps to genocide, yet said mage is somehow granted more lenience by the narrative than that stance should EVER allow? Because here's the thing. no matter HOW fucked a country is, how terrible the politics and power structures are, 'wiping the country out' IS NEVER A MORALLY GREY THING. IT'S AS BLACK AS IT GETS. it is the power structure itself that must be targeted. (you know, the thing Anders tried to do and gets eternally condemned for?) Wanting to massacre an entire population is not an opinion that's up for discussion, it is not worthy of redemption, and it should not be written as if it is. This pattern of character writing is just. Concerning to me. Some of the characters with the most morally bankrupt stances being passed off as grey. And I could get far deeper into it here, nearly did in fact, but It's a tad too late in the night for a 5 page essay on fantasy and real world politics intersection. I'll just leave it at ''bioware's centrism is doing what centrism does best and blinding them to their world's actual political power dynamics and I think it's going to bite them in the ass sooner or later''
But enough of that, let's try to get back to something funny shall we?
The cheese jokes. Bioware please, the horse, stop, stop it's already dead!
(i dont actually mind but that was my original reaction so here you go sdfhjs)
Dragon cool. Like that it stays alive.
ok, sorry that's all I got. We have to tackle the elephant in the room now folks and i'm afraid I am not optimistic.
So. Meredith motherfucking Stannard is still alive and kicking. And while I can completely understand why people are excited, AN ACTUALLY GOOD VILLAIN IS BACK, WOOHOO! -i just can't help but think. When? When will this plot thread be handled? Because as much as I wish the titular character of dreadwolf would drop dead by act one, I highly, highly doubt it hjsdfjf. And if she can't be the main villain, or at least what Howe was to Loghain, then I don't want her to be in da4. Because that game has SO MUCH SHIT to tackle, with Elven Gods and Titans, the egg and also Antiva and the Qunari now for some fucking reason? Frankly I don't think they can even do THIS sum of things justice in a single game, unless things with the gods take a different turn and they aren't what solas said/villains for us to fight (please I hate the slavery thing so fucking much just for once retcon something to the benefit of religious minorities bioware i'm fucking BEGGING) so adding Meredith to the mix is not something I can picture working out. I don't want to get excited for her to be back (She was the spoiler that got me to watch the series) only to have it be a repeat of the templar/mage war in inq where she's lukewarmly taken out by act 1.
Also before I do an all in all, we all got that Hira is getting Played right. Like I dont like her much(at all), as stated previously, but she's still a mage. working for Meredith motherfucking Stannard. Is it too early to call her eventually dying from that dumbass decision orrr..? Because yes girly, she also wants to genocide your home country, but she has VERY different reasons from you and you're almost guaranteed to be first on the chopping block the moment the red lyrium cracks. (i dont find this bullet point bad writing btw this is just razzing the characters for fun jhsdj)
ok so all in all. the show's alright. I highlighted more of the bad than the good here because anything past da2 has that effect on me sadly, but the characters do Carry as per usual. And i'd say it's worth a watch for the action shots alone. Some of my fears of Bioware's direction were confirmed, and i am still not at all enthused about da4, but if a season two comes out I'll probably watch it. unnecessarily long post over, adiós.

Carnegie Mellon University Professor Rahul Panat, and his team, were developing a new type of 3D printed Brain-Computer Interface (or BCI) device where custom micropillars capture the communication signals from neurons when they stumbled upon an unexpected problem: the micropillars in the array bent during sintering. These BCI devices, now called "CMU Arrays," stack millions of metal nanoparticles in 3D space and then sinter, i.e., fuse them together.
In a rather dramatic illustration, a time-lapse film from their experiment, the silver micropillars opened in a highly coordinated fashion like a blooming flower during the 12-hour sintering process to 150-300 °C. This phenomenon was completely unexpected as sintering theory predicts no permanent distortion, even under variable temperatures.
Panat led an interdisciplinary team of researchers from Carnegie Mellon and Washington State University on a quest to not only determine why there was such a distortion, but to more importantly, find a way to control it. In fact, if controlled, the research would lead to world's first illustration of sintering as mechanism of "4D printing," a relatively new discipline within additive Manufacturing (AM) where 3D printed objects are transformed into another shape using sources like heat, water, or other environmental stimuli.
