Everyone knows Bobby isn’t a physically affectionate type of person.
Luke abuses this knowledge whenever he can, ambushing Bobby with a binding hug, or planting an obscenely wet smooch on Bobby’s cheek. Bobby would wrench himself away in vehement disgust, making the others laugh.
It’s all in good fun. It’s almost routine, at this point.
But when Luke turns up at his doorstep in the late hours of the night, eyes red and watery, carrying a bag and a guitar in each hand, Bobby doesn’t hesitate to pull him into a tight hug.
Luke drops his things, and hugs back.

god i want a rose and the petal pushers spinoff almost more than i want a jatp s2
honestly it was @1mnobodywhoareyou that brought up the question abt Julie saying "Trevor introduced me to rock" but Rose had literally played in a rock band? whether not that an intentional or a script slip up, that is such a golden opportunity.
Imagine Julie hanging with her mom doing some chores and Rose says something that expose Rose used to play rock and Julie is like "HELLO MOM????? YOU PLAYED IN A BAND??? AND DIDN'T TELL ME??" and Rose would be like doing dishes and going "all right i did...oh well, now you know, maybe later i can show you some of my gear, some old stuff i have." And julie is like "?????? The fuck MOM OF COURSE I WANT THIS"
Rose simply deciding to introduce Julie to rock by playing her favorite artists and taking Julie to concerts, so Julie grows up looking up to a ton of bands and rock stars, such as Trevor, until she's 12 and one day her mom drops information that she was in the scene back in her teen years. So their dynamics becomes something like "suddenly my good vibes music teacher mom is actually a retired punk kid from the 90's who played in like 5 different bands and toured with her four broke friends around the country and has written tons of music and everyone in the scene know her so thats why she gets free tickets to concerts all the time bc people in the industry remember that fucking legend she was"
On a small addition, imagine Rose being actually a few years older than sunset curve and they were actually crazy for The Petal Pushers way before they had their own band, but by the time they were playing the orpheum, Rose had actually retired to go to school and already planning to move in with her boyfriend and the girls from Petal Pushers had moved on on their paths. Imagine them not recognizing Rose without her styled hair and punk makeup. Or. even better. That was the reason Bobby went to her bc he recognized her from the stage and wouldn't lose a freaking chance of talking to her (and making a move on her. Duh. Its not everyday you can flirt with a rock legend) and later in life, he still sends her tickets to all his shows and she always goes bc independently of not actually ending with her, he still admires her.

“Oh no, this isn’t from the pizza guy. This is from the blonde guy in the apartment below us, he was leaving it at our door when I came back with our pizza. Well, it’s from his roommate, technically. And it’s for you not me, read the note,” she said that last bit with a sparkle in her eye and a pointed eyebrow raise.
Julie furrowed her brow for a second, “Wait, what?” She grabbed for the note, unfolding it carefully and smoothing it on her lap.

“Our realm was never meant for the living.” Caleb spoke, though his focus appeared to have returned to his many books. “By all accounts, he never should have been able to enter in the first place.”

Plot: In Hollywood in 1995 four young guys are about to break through with their band Sunset Curve and play the venue of their dreams. But after some shady hot dogs, things don't go exactly as planned for three of them. 25 years later, teenager Julie Molina is in grief after her mother's death and is having a hard time finding joy in music again. While clearing out her mother's studio she finds an old cd with Sunset Curve and plays it. Suddenly, three guys are summoned into the room she's in - the ghosts of Luke, Alex and Reggie who died that night in 1995. After some very confusing days they realize they can do amazing music together. But how do you perform with ghosts? And how do you explain this to your best friend?
Years: 2020
Seasons: 1 (cancelled after one season, booo btw)
My story: This is still very new to me, so bear with me, fandom. While speaking about other series, aforementioned mutual talked about this so dearly that I had to try it. I binged it all in one night and loved it so much! It has music, drama, trauma, supernaturalism and love - what's not to like?!
Teachable moments: Oh I think I haven't even found all the teachable moments yet, but there's a lot to find here. The one that touched me the most was Julie's journey back into music and to keeping her mum close to her heart in everything she does. When you loose a close one it's a process to acceptance and moving forward. I'm in that myself at the moment and I can't imagine having to go through loosing your mother at such a young age.
Best character: Luke, I don't know if I have an elaborate motivation for this yet but I just love him and his ever going optimism.
Best episode: "Unsaid Emily" (S1E8). This story with Luke, his parents and Julie is so heartbreaking I cry everytime.
Best quote: "Oh, she said oh. That’s what you say when you get socks on your birthday, not when you’re invited to join the most epic band ever." (Luke)
Fun fact: This one I stole directly from Imdb, but I found it very interesting; "If you notice Jeremy Shada (Reggie) throughout the series in moments of confrontation and stress he will pick his nails. This is a common coping mechanism for people of divorced or fighting parents. It distracts them. Jeremy added it to his character to make him have more depth, since Reggie's parents are said to have fought all the time when he was alive."

I have 7 scenes left to finish for Electric Boogaloo; I'm currently writing a scene covering the last day of school, tentatively titled The Last Wednesday Studio. I'm going to remove one sentence for being too spoilery, but otherwise, here's where I'm at:
Recounting Flynn’s date carried them through the rest of the lunch line—Julie got the cup of baby carrots and ranch along with her pizza, so now her meal was totally healthy!—and to their usual table.
After the first person came up asking for a yearbook signature, Julie got her own book out to have it ready, since it felt awkward to her to sign someone’s book and not ask for a signature in return. Which meant her book was now crowded with kind-of generic messages from students she didn’t know very well, or at all in some cases, but that was fine—she’d gotten Flynn, Kayla, and Nick to sign right after she’d picked it up so she wasn’t worried about saving room for more meaningful messages. And maybe she’d actually be willing to look at this yearbook again someday, unlike last year’s, which was filled with well-wishes for her mom that now made her cry.
Her nervousness grew as the lunch period wound down, and she thought that she should’ve skipped the pizza—the grease wasn’t sitting well in her stomach.
“You OK?” Flynn asked.
“Just nervous.”
“About Wednesday Studio?” Flynn rolled her eyes. “OK, A, this is the smallest audience you’ve played to in a while, or will play to, and B, everyone loves you, and C, even if they didn’t, who cares? It’s the last day of school! I’m pretty sure our grades are already turned in at this point. Personally, I can’t wait to hear this new song.”
She remembered telling Carrie she should sings songs that reflected what she was actually feeling, and mentally shook her head at her former self. All well and good to suggest that for Carrie, but not so great when it came to baring her own soul.

Reggie's parents get divorced. His mom starts dating Caleb. and his son Willie comes to live with them.
Bobby is Carrie's ghost friend, post canon.
Luke, Bobby, Reggie and Alex are raised catholic and they're all dating.
Sunset Curve versus Julie and the phantoms (Julie, Carrie, Bobby and flynn) in a rival bands AU
Reggie is Julie's childhood friend and Ray is his parental figure.

I mean… how am I not going to ask about “inanotheruniverseyouwouldbemine”. 👀👀
So when I was writing Maybe I Could Be Yours I had this idea of it being a series where Julie and Luke meet and get together in different time periods. That one is set in like the 1800s but In Another Universe - which I'd probably change that title and this would be the series title - it's set in the 1980s. And it is very VERY loosely based on me meeting a boy at the beach on vacation when I was 16 who I wrote to for years till we got the chance to meet again in college.
@1mnobodywhoareyou asked about this one too so here's a different section to what I already shared. This is currently the very beginning.
The first time she saw him it was early in the morning. Julie and her mom were taking their traditional morning walk on the beach after just watching the sun rise. They were only on the east coast once every other year so getting to watch the sunrise over the ocean was a rare enough occurrence for Julie to agree to get up at the ungodly hour of five in the morning to see it.
She noticed him because he was out in the ocean with the other surfers but unlike them he seemed closer to her age than the rest of the entirely too good looking men out there.
He was also the only one singing while he waited for a wave and trying to get the other guys to sing along with him to a moderate success.
Her mami was the one that stopped first to watch them.
“Well well that’s almost as beautiful as the sunrise.”
Julie laughed and slapped at her mom’s arm. “Mami! What would papi say?”
“Oh Julie,” Rose rolled her eyes. “I’m married not blind.” She leaned in closer to Julie as they both continued to watch the boys. “Plus I was talking about the singing mija get your mind out of the gutter.”
Julie blushed and scrunched her nose up at her mom. Of course her mami would focus on the music. He really did have a nice voice but she went to school with hundreds of boys with beautiful voices.
